Not only do they have free internet here at the hospital, but Tim brought the laptop!
So here she is everyone!
The pics the photo people took today turned out way better. Makes her look very blonde. We'll post more when we get home.

What a pretty little princess! princess: Congrats Monica!!!
I just called DVC member services and burned through all my 2008 DVC points... 5 nights in an AKV studio in Jan and 5 nights in a BW-view 1-bed in May (our anniversary). Woot!!
Sweet! Congrats on those ressies! We are staying at AKV in a 1-bedroom in May for our anniversary. When are you going in May?

You can pretty much always guarantee that Dene' and I are out there somewhere exercising, at least once a day M-F for me and likely more than that for her!

I have already burned through all but 16 of my 2007 pts (UY is Dec) Now I am trying to figure out if DH and I can get to WDW 12/31-1/6 this year. It would only cost about $1000 b/c of AP's, but airfare is high that week. I told DH the solution is simple...we need to buy more pts!!! He did say in a year we could for sure..I hope he is right!!!

Happy Tuesday!!
I ran my first 5k today, finished in 30:40. :cheer2: Not exactly an earth shaking time, but I'm happy with it. Heck I can't believe I can even run if I look at where I was a year ago.
Now it's time to find a soft place to collapse.

LEASE ...AWESOME ON THE RUN!!! I remember running! It was that thing I did for a couple of months last summer! Actually it was more like really fast walking with some good sprints thrown in. But I remember how empowering even that was. GREAT JOB! I did 3 seperate 10 minute turns on the elliptical machine today (spaced out by HOURS:rolleyes1 ) I average about 7 minutes a mile, then I need a break!! I would LOVE to be able to run 5 at 1 time. This website and yall people are the best :worship: Every day someone on here motivates me. 1550 low carb calories today. (It would have been lower, but I couldn't resist the meatloaf I made for dinner:sad2: ) Hope everyone has skinny dreams! I know the new mommy will, she had a great weight loss!!

Hehe, I only had 13 2007 pts, and now we have 38 2008 pts left and that is all! We figure that we can borrow until DH has to quit work and do nursing school full-time, because that 18 mos is likely to not include a WDW trip (finances and timing both).
We don't have to worry about airfare, just the dining plan, which will be bad enough becaue DH wants to do the eat-until-you-die plan. :scared:

I started out just able to do 10 min on the elliptical about 2 times a week... after 7-8 months I can do 3.5 miles in 45 minutes and could actually keep going if I had the time. It will come, don't worry! And great job on keeping the calories low!
I am trying to recover from my horrible eating weekend... trying to stay at 1000 cals for a few days in the hopes that that mean ugly gain I saw when I tiptoed on the scale Mon AM will go away by Friday.

370... that's the number of emails I've received from Northern Ireland in the last 3 days. :lmao: And of course, I have to answer all of them... I'm getting nothing done! :rolleyes1
Wow... I have been so weak lately!
You and me both! But it's okay... I'm just taking a mini-vacation from the scale and the obsessive compulsive healthy eating until school starts... I'm not being horrible... just not being so ocd about it... and I'm not getting back on the scale until school starts because I'm no longer controlled by a number on a machine. I'm exercising and socializing and I feel great and I've changed in sooooo many ways I can hardly believe it. I'm not off the wagon, I'm just taking a break from the merry-go-round.

:lmao: Guilty! I am so addicted to exercising now... :thumbsup2 My health has improved a lot, but my confidence has improved even more! I was at a party with lots of adults who knew each other... I and I didn't know a single one of them... but I walked right up, introduced myself, talked, told stories, kidded around, visited and most importantly HAD FUN!

You should be very happy with it! Overall that's 20 seconds better than a 10 min/mi pace. My friend Kara runs 5k's and 10k's and does triathlons and sometimes marathons... she says she always tries for a 10 min/mi pace. Great job!
I know what you mean about what you can do now compared to what you used to be able to do... amazing, isn't it!?!?!?!?! :cloud9:

I think a mini-break is a great idea! I need to stay on the wagon hardcore at least another 3 weeks, because I am going to have a 3 week vacation (including 12 days at WDW) starting in mid-Sept. I want to be as low as possible before then so my mtn to climb when I get back isn't as bad.
I think I am addicted to exercise too. I still have trouble forcing myself to go sometimes but once I am into it, it feels really good.
:cheer2: for improved confidence, and ecstatic feelings!! :cheer2:

I have been traveling today and am sitting here in the hotel in Conncticut! :cool1: I was unsure if I would have wireless, but I do! Just 4 more days until DD's wedding! We are doing all the last minute things that need to be done, one of which is cutting ivy for the centepieces.
Well, it's been a long day, so I am heading to bed. Nighty-Night!!!:hippie:

Hi, remember me??;) I haven't been feeling very peepish lately so it's been awhile since I've posted. I've had tons of stress from family things that are way beyond my control but I still try to fix them and make everyone happy, and then I feed myself chocolate to feel better. And then I wonder why I can't loose weight. DUH!!!
I'm at my mom's visiting my birthday present (niece). It's so much fun! But I always feel awful about myself when I'm here because everyone is so skinny. My lil sis, who just had a baby 3 months ago, complains about how fat she is and that she has to wear a size 10 in juniors. Can I just say gag me with a pitchfork??? Other than that, I'm having a great time.
Glad you're back, Cherie!!!!

Yea! Way to go! Congratulations!
Sandy, I'm going to ride the bike for thirty minutes. I had "leg night" tonight - dead lifts, lunges, and squats - crunches and 15 minutes on the treadmill. I can't walk again, but I will get 30 extra minutes of exercise!
See y'all tomorrow!!

Good Morning all!! Another hot day here, but should start getting better. School is going good. I really like the classes that I have. Oldest DS is now running for the High School Cross Country Team--he has never ran before and he is really enjoying it. He gets to the HS around 3:45 and by 5:00 he has ran/walked 5 miles maybe a little less. They are running inside the HS since it is so hot outside. Each time around inside is equal to once around a track and they do 20 laps then some sprints---he is wiped bythe time he gets home. Joshua is awake so I better go and get him. Have a great day everyone.

Wish I had more time to chat but I'm still sleeping in until 6:30 and I need to be in the shower by 7:00 so I don't have much time.
I've done my Slim in 6 video for two days running now! I have a little more than an hour between work and school pick up so I'm rushing home to exercise and it's proving to me just how out of shape I am! :scared:

Is there room for a few more? We are looking at going during that time too. DD#2's b-day is the 21st so we are going to try to go for her b-day week.
I am so bummed right now. My weight is going up and up and up. I may have to give up my ribbon. I've been eating pretty well, getting my veggies and trying to stay away from sweets. Hopefully I'm just retaining water and a batch of :pooh muffins will help.
Day two at the fair today. No junk food though.

Good morning everyone!:goodvibes
Monica the baby is beautiful! Congratulations!!!
I was good last night and went for a 50 minute walk even though I got home late after meeting up with a few of my friends to knit last night. I was so tempted to just go to bed, but forced myself to put on my sweats and do it. Luckily I live in a very safe condo complex so I made two circles around the complex - about 50 minutes or so. When I go out for a walk later at night I won't leave the condo complex. I have a rebounder I could walk on inside, but I know I work harder when I'm outside. I'm going to try to reserve the rebounder for inside when it rains, snows etc. I'd love to use if more for actually rebounding, but after doing it for just 5-10 minutes I'm beat. I never thought it would be that much work. Plus living on the second floor I try to only do it when my downstairs neighbor isn't home. I don't think he'd appreciate all the squeeking and bouncing around. Has anyone else tried rebounding and had the same problems?
Tonight I'm going to try to either take a walk on the beach when I first get home. (Love the sand resistance) or take a bike ride. It's already getting dark earlier so I don't have a lot of time when I get home at 7 before it's starting to get dark. I hate it!
Hope everyone else is having a good plan day!

Morning ladies and gent(s)!
Eeyore and crew -- I walked "with" you yesterday evening and plan to continue. It's great motivation knowing that I'm not alone! Thanks!
Mini-update: Whew... I have been stalling out weightloss wise for the past three or four weeks. I got a small loss two weeks ago, but nothing like I should have been posting. But this morning I did a "mid-week-peek" to see my progress and I am down 3 lbs -- (here's hoping I hang on to them until Friday (and maybe add another) b/c if I stay down 3, then I have met and exceeded my first goal major goal of getting back to my pre-deskjob weight!! I'll let you know Friday).
What did I do differently? I upped the daily walk by about 10 minutes and increased my daily allowance of calories by 200. :scared1: and poof:wizard: magic! About 2 months ago I was trying to "pre-lose" some weight before going on vacation, so I dropped my cals to 1200 per day. That was working really well, so I stuck to it 5-6 days a week. However, apparently I was "starving myself" on 1200-1300 cals and needed a few more:rolleyes1 . I knew better than that :headache: , but got myself stuck in a semi-ocd-controlling-type-rut. I'm going back to cycling high and low cal days with the goal of averaging 1400 - 1450 calories per day by the end of the week.
So here is my lesson learned for the day: Gotta keep that metabolism guessing.

I cannot do the gym in the AM... all I can do to peel my butt off the bed at 8:30 and be late for work.
MJ congrats on the 3 lbs and hope they stay off! I find that if I up my calorie count I don't lose... I do better on 1200. However, I do allow cheat days every 1-2 weeks so that probably confuses my metabolism enough!

Hi everybody! :) Hope you're all having a great day.
Boy, lots of exercising going on. Good for the peeps!!!
I went to my aerobics class after work last night, and when I got home (around 7:45), I was hungry! (even though I ate dinner before class) My calorie count for the day was too low at that point (it was around 1000) and I could definitely tell. Instead of going for the snacks or a glass of wine, I cooked up a can of refried beans with salsa and little bit of low fat cheese -- hubbie and I both had some of that, and it filled us up! About 210 cals, and I was okay for the night.
I think that one of the keys for me is to try to get the most bang for the buck as far as my calorie count goes -- use the majority of it on real food, not snacks, and I'm much more pleasant to be around.
You guys are doing great, it's very motivating to be around the peeps! Thanks! I'm hoping to be down again this week, just in time for the WDW dining -- can't believe we're leaving in just 2 days!!!!!

yes, i just quoted myself. :) i wanted to correct that - for some reason i was thinking tonight was the finale, but it's not. there are 4 people left, which means next week will be the finale. sorry if i got anyone excited!
Has anyone else tried rebounding and had the same problems?
what is rebounding? i've never heard of it and you've got me curious.
danielle - we were doing planks today in class (which i have to modify because of my scoliosis) and i told everyone about someone i knew doing planks naked and how you should never look down towards your body in that situation........everyone got a kick outta that one!

[QUOTE=punkin413;20301561]what is rebounding? i've never heard of it and you've got me curious.QUOTE]
Rebounding is basically one of those mini trampolines. I thought it was going to be so easy until I learned that the proper way to use it is to not really jump high but to kind of jump as if your Donald Duck throwing a fit. A very slight jump - more kind of pushing down. You can check out this link (http://urbanrebounding.com/) to see what it is supposed to look like. It's deceptively simple looking, but very intense. I can only do a few minutes of the workout DVD in the proper form. Bouncing around any old way I can do for ages.

holy crap that looks crazy!! i get super dizzy from trampolines, bouncehouses, jumping rope..you get the point...so i don't think rebounding is for me! looks like a fun and good workout for peeps without inner ear issues like i have though..maybe Greg should try it, he is very good at "donald duck-like fits" as you said.

WOMAN'S POEM
Before I lay me down to sleep,
I pray for a man, who's not a creep,
One who's handsome, smart and strong.
One who loves to listen long,
One who thinks before he speaks,
One who'll call, not wait for weeks.
I pray he's gainfully employed,
When I spend his cash, won't be annoyed.
Pulls out my chair and opens my door,
Massages my back and begs to do more.
Oh! Send me a man who'll make love to my mind,
Knows what to answer to 'how big is my behind?'
I pray that this man will love me to no end,
and always be my very best friend.

I did Gilad's Bodies in Motion this morning, and man, was I sweating! I'm also going to the gym tonight w/DH. I need to work it twice, because yesterday was one of those days where life happens. (Warning- I'm headed for the pity pot here). I planned to eat right, go to the gym, and then have a nice dinner and go to a concert w/DH (Squeeze, if you remember them. Their song "Tempted" is on a new Heineken commercial). My mom called at 1:00 p.m. asking me to take her to the emergency room. DH was on his way home, so I waited 5 minutes for him, and we zipped over to my mom's. Her temperature was 103.1, and she's 79 and diabetic. She was totally confused, couldn't remember who anyone was, and was crying. We whisked her into the emergency room, then waited 2 hours to get registered. DH called my BIL to ask my sister to come when she got home from work. She met us in radiology, where they were doing an x-ray to see if mom had pneumonia. It turns out it was a sinus infection, but everything hits hard when you are in fragile health to begin with. My sister was in the emergency room with my mom till 9 p.m. DH and I made it to the concert in time for dinner (but we weren't able to shower first, so I felt like I was stinking up the joint. At least it was an outdoor venue). I didn't get my workout in, I ate semi-poorly because I was emotional from the day's events, but I did stand up and dance for the second half of the concert.
Oh, and the other lovely events yesterday: I woke up at 6:25 to the sound of the garbage truck, and realized we had forgotten to put our can out. I ran out in my nightie to drag the can to the truck. Nice way to wake up. And around 11, I opened my healthy carbs drawer to get some almonds, and everything (whole wheat pasta, brown rice, almonds, soy beans, etc) was infested with moths. Gross! They had gotten into the kids' junk food drawer too, but didn't touch the oreos. What does that tell you?
So I'm hoping for a better day today (although the concert was fantastic!) Everyone hang in there.

I am having the day from hades myself... why does my DH always choose these kinds of days to be a butthead??

What do you do? (if you dont mind sharing that is - )
well, i didn't know i had it until i was about 22, after i got my first office job. it had never bothered me before and once i started sitting at a desk all day, my back would hurt. finally i broke down and went to the chiropractor and found out i had scoliosis. since i wasn't growing any more, a back brace would do no good. when i first found out, the chiropractor had me coming for adjustments 2-3 times a week. that eventually slowed down to once a week, then twice a month and so on. now i just go as needed, usually about 4-6 times a year. i've also done therapeutic massage and, believe me, there's nothing relaxing about it......it hurts!!!! it works though.....just painful. basically i have a huge curve between my shoulder blades, which caused another curve in my waist area. the only time you can tell is when i'm wearing a bathing suit - one side of my stomach goes in WAY more than the other.......it's freaky looking!
just tell her to keep going to the chiropractor......they're wonderful if you have a good one! i love mine. he never requires me to have an appointment. i can just call him if i'm in the area and he usually can see me right then to do an adjustment.
a couple of good stretches he's given me that you can share with your FDIL if she's feeling sore or stiff:
--get a can of something heavy (like a big can of baked beans or something) and lay face up on your bed with one arm hanging off, holding the can. this stretches your chest out.
--grab the frame of a doorway with both hands and plant your feet in the center of the doorway, then lean forward as far as you can while holding onto the doorway so you don't fall. this stretches out your chest. then do the opposite and lean backwards, sort of like you're sitting down on the air. this stretches out your back.
--sit on the floor with your legs straight out and cross one over the other one. the one on the bottom should be straight on the floor and the other one should be bent with your knee pulled to your chest. now turn in the direction of the straight leg. this stretches out your back and your sciatic nerve, which a lot of people with scoliosis have problems with. then switch and do the same on the other side.
--sit on the floor with one leg bent on the floor in front of you and the other one bent on the floor behind you, then stretch your arms forward on the floor in front of you. this also stretches out your back and sciatic nerve. then switch legs and do the same on the other side.
hope this helps!!! :goodvibes

I've got ME curious, too! Must have been something cool... if it was stupid, I would have remembered it.
I think that one of the keys for me is to try to get the most bang for the buck as far as my calorie count goes -- use the majority of it on real food, not snacks, and I'm much more pleasant to be around.

Ewww.... Yuck! I hate it when that happens!! I got them in my pantry last summer. I :confused3 don't know why those stupid flour moths are so much worse in the summer, but they def are. I've gone to storing flour, rice, etc. in glass or metal containers to keep them at bay. Also, if you had lots of $$ invested in something and don't want to throw it away there are ways to kill the critters and keep the flour/food. I don't know that I could eat something that I knew bugs were crawling through, but I'm just saying... :rolleyes1 Good luck!!

what about a gift card at the store they're registered at? when all else fails, i go with that! i have to share this....once i was shopping for a wedding gift for a couple that already had a 3-year-old son. i think it was at target and i was scanning the list for something i wanted to buy that was in my price range. when i got to the last page, i'm scanning through the items and i see.....condoms!!!!! they did it as a joke.....as in, uh, it's kinda late for that!!!

Can I ask for some pixie dust and prayers? One of my cats is pretty sick. I took her to the vet today because she is just not acting like herself. They did a bunch of tests and just called me with 'the news'. Her kidney levels are off the charts in a bad way. She actually said the word renal failure but I sort of stopped hearing her at that point. My cats are like babies to me, so this is all really hard to take. She is almost 10 yrs old, and we have had her and her 2 brothers since they were 3 mos old.
We are doing some intensive fluids for her (I have to inject the poor thing once a day at home, and give her fluids from an IV bag  If you knew how much needles freaked me out you would never believe I would be able to do it actually, but I will have to) along with 3 medicines. She has lost 3 pounds in the past few yrs, and she was only 8 pounds to start with.
If the fluids dont help her levels go in the right direction, and she doesnt start gaining weight she said we will have to talk about what is best for her. That broke my heart. I take her back in a week.

That stinks...I agree with Punkin's idea of getting a gift card for that store or a store you know they would shop at. I'm sure after the wedding and getting settled they will think of more things that they want and they can use the gift card to buy them!

Sending loads and loads of pixie dust for your kitty! Before Phoebe, I had Penelope, the best and cutest black and white kitty for 18 years. And she was a peanut too...9-10 lbs max. :wizard: for kitty and  for you!
Speaking of sad things, today was the funeral for the deputy killed in the line of duty last week. They aired the entire memorial service on our local news website. It was a little over and hour and I bawled like a baby. Obviously, it's a horrible thing and being in a law enforcement family, it makes it harder. But for some reason this one is really sticking with me. I hated seeing his kids cry. His wife was so strong through the entire thing...until the end they did a picture tribute set to musc. Then she started crying. But I can tell that they are a strong family and they have a lot of support.
On a brighter note, A. and I have been having lots of phone conversations this week...too bad they're revolving around our exams. Although I could think of other girls in our class he could call for help and talk through it with...but he's not calling them, he's calling me. Who knows what is going on in that boy's head
Oh and I got my hair trimmed and highlighted today as well. Bye bye roots and hello blonde. And I had him cut more sideswept bangs than the last time. Looks cute I think...I'm not too crazy about how he blows my hair out sometimes...he insists on flipping it under when my hair naturally flips out and looks better that way. But thats nothing a wash won't fix.
Hope everyone is having a great day! :goodvibes

BTB - BIG BROTHER had real live "guests" today IN the house!! They didnt talk - remember the statues from EPCOT? One like that was in the house, a mad hatter (a dwarf) real live bunnies, some other things - its hilarous to try and figure out the clues they left!!
Eventar - I like the measuring cup idea - I try and put together a basket of stuff with my favorite recipe... so if I thought they'd make pizza, I'd do a pizza basket... or a pie basket - (and :rotfl2: at the condoms - I would throw them in and say it was on the list!! :rotfl2: who am I to judge?? :rotfl2: )

Well, dd gets the mail (and she knows about our Jan trip, NOT the Sept one...) and I say, "That's it dd, daddy's going camping the boys are going to college, LETS GO TO DISNEY!! I'll call and make the ressies now - just you and me!!! She says... wild eye NO WAY MOM - I can NEVER get back on a plane, I'll throw up!! We'll just have to drive next time" :faint:

I always do kitchen gadgets, discloths, soap and scrubbers. If I'm lucky, I can find a really neat planter to put it in so the couple can also put a plant in teh kitchen when they return from their honeymoon.

I'm sorry your kitty is so sick. I'm kind of surprised that they didn't recommend
putting her in the hosp for IV fluids and some potasium. I hope she feels better soon. Please PM me if you have any questions. Also if she quits eating and refuses even chicken baby food, get her to the vet right away, she may be getting worse.
The fair was hot and exhausting today. I walked all day long and had to put my barking dogs on an ice pack when we got home. We had a good time but I didn't eat well at all. I know, it's the fair but still. I had a huge bowl of ice cream for lunch and then we shared some ribbon cut fries with all the toppings around 4 and I'm still not hungry.
I met with some people from one of our local colleges while I was there and they asked me to fill out an intrest form that they would forward to the admissions counselor. We had been home for less than half and hour when he called and talked to me about additiona education. He had one interview spot left for the week and he said he wanted me in it!! Print a form for everyone in your home and tell every one you know about it. We were given kits today at the fair that had the forms in pill bottles. If you don't want to tape something to your fridge, get a vial (or ask me to send you one, I have tons!) If you are unable to respond to rescue personnel your medical information will still be avaialbe to them, 24 hrs a day. You never know when you will have an emergency and your spouse may forget important information. These kits can be kept in your car, briefcase or in a child's backpack.

A couple random things...
The bird is back. Yes, we are bird sitting for my neighbor...Again. They are bringing their DD to college tomorrow and are coming back on Saturday. Anyone willing to take bets on when they pick their bird up? I've got $10 on Sunday night, after 7.
Also, DSIL's DB and his wife had their second baby yesterday! More babies! Anyway, it is a little girl and she weighed 9 lbs 13 oz!
The kicker...Mommy had her au natural! :scared1: ouch.
Anyone know why crying gives you headaches? Or am I the only one that that happens to? I was bawling through that funeral this afternoon and my head has hurt ever since. Maybe its my sinuses?
And to whoever asked for pics of my new 'do...you definitely aren't getting them tonight. I'm not having a cute day at all. Or week for that matter. Stress about school and my internship starting is getting to me and showing itself all over my chin. Plus I'm in the early stages of PMS which means more breakouts. Fabulous. I'll try to take some though.
Told you it was random...:cutie:

I get headaches when I cry too. I think it's muscle tension. Try rubbing along the back of your head and down onto your neck. Also, drink some water. that what i always tell my students to do, and it seems to help (I see a lot of crying in kindergarten).

Can I ask for some pixie dust and prayers? One of my cats is pretty sick.
My prayers are with you andf your family. DH & I had to put down our 14yo Shihtzu on Mon morning. It was very sad, but I did get to hold her through it. We had to make the decision based on her health issues and really decided it was time. :guilty: Definitely not an easy decision by any means. I am praying your kitty recovers from this.
Anyone know why crying gives you headaches? Or am I the only one that that happens to? I was bawling through that funeral this afternoon and my head has hurt ever since. Maybe its my sinuses?

Crying always gives me a headache! :confused3 I haven't a clue why!!! And why is it, as grown women, we still get "break-outs" like we are teenagers?!? Just doesn't seem right to me.
Missed SYTYCD tonight. Was having dinner with DD's future in-laws. Of course I ate more than I should have. However, I am getting ready to do 100 crunches after I post and I did walk over 30 min in WalMart today! :cool1: Does that count????

Is there room for a few more? We are looking at going during that time too. DD#2's b-day is the 21st so we are going to try to go for her b-day week.
Sure! I hope I get to meet you before then considering we don't live that far apart from each other, but it would be fun to meet some Peeps in May! :)
can't wait for dance tonight. if anyone is curious about the show and hasn't watched it yet, tonight's the night to do so! the finale!!! i'm sure there will be some great routines.
Did you get to see the show Dawn? It was really good, I thought! I just don't know who I want to win. They are all SO good!
I got interrupted by phone calls - Life is entirely too crazy - or will be come Tomorrow Friday and Sunday! Crazy kids!! (DS bday celebration Thurs DD has baby sitting Red Cross Friday, the boys need me to take them to college Friday, dh needs a ride to WI Friday for Boy Scout Training he's in charge of!! :faint:)
UH, how are you taking the boys to school on Friday AND your DH to WI Friday? :confused3 Sounds like you'll be busy!
So I'm hoping for a better day today (although the concert was fantastic!) Everyone hang in there.
 to you! And I remember Squeeze! I LOVE Tempted and Black Coffee in Bed! Both are on my ipod. ;)
Oh! :grouphug: Dance! I feel for you! Our kitty is really attached to me. He follows me around the house, and he always wants to lay on me. Needless to say, I am attached to him too. I will be praying for your kitty's speedy recovery!

Prayers and Pixie dust PLEASE - -
I know we have a list for our prayer chain - please add Leeza, her sister, and father ( my ds 19 girlfriend of 2 years) - they are Russian immagrants, and full American Citizens (she moved here at 8yrs btw)
They went on a road trip ( I so forget what they call it!) but they are in PERU - they are due to come home on the 19th -
Tonight there is a 7.5 rictor scale earthquake near Lima Peru - the capital! I know they were going to climb a mountain ( sounds like Miza Peeshoo - I'll look it up, but just pray!) but apparently Leeza and her sister got sick (they travel a lot - back to Russia etc -she speaks 4 or 5 languages, very intelligent!) I know the earthquake was like 25 miles below surface...
continued prayers for the furbabies - and peep baby!!

They actually did suggest the hospital and said it could be 3-5 days there, but at $150 a day I cant afford it. As it is, todays tests and office visit set me back $300. Gosh, that sounds so horrible and uncaring. But I just dont have the money to do that  She said what we are doing is the next best thing, so I am hoping she is right. So far, she is still eating (not much, but some and they gave me some really high fat/calorie food for her that she is eating) and I set up a separate littler box so I can make sure that is Ok too. If she stops eating though I will make sure I get her back in ASAP, no matter what it costs. Oh, and one of the medicines has somethig to do with potasium too. I am so informed, huh?!
Also, DSIL's DB and his wife had their second baby yesterday! More babies! Anyway, it is a little girl and she weighed 9 lbs 13 oz!

I get the crying headaches too. I hate that! I think it is sinus related. I have a monster one tonight. I cried so much my eyes are foggy from being dehydrated or something I guess.

:grouphug: I didnt know that...I am so sorry for your loss. It is very hard. My childhood pets passed last summer- one was 22 and the other was 19...both cats. It was really awful. My poor sister back in Ohio had 'custody' of them and had to make the decisions herself. It is just so hard to know what is right sometimes.
Thanks for all the prayers guys. It has really helped me to feel a little better tonight. Now if I could just get rid of MY crying headache, maybe I could fall asleep.

Two weeks ago one of my principals sent out an e-mail asking for 5 teachers to sign up for this economics training. Part of the training would give me 5 continuing education credits for my teaching renewal certificate--I only needed .7 because I have been working on it over the past 2 years. It would also give me some classroom materials. This training would consist of 2 weekdays and 2 Sat. in the Fall and the same for the Spring. Sounds great so I signed up. It would look really good on my transcript since it is a Masters Seminar. Well on Friday I was given the dates and they are not a problem, but we are also given a semi schedule--it is nothing like it was presented. All the principal did was forward to us all the information that was sent to her. Here is what I now have to do--I had to submit a letter of why I wanted to take this seminar--there is a midterm project and a final project plus a final exam. OH MY GOSH--like I have time for this. In the original e-mail it sounded like some workshops that you would attend and go back and tech other teachers at your school. That is soooooo not the case. I tried to back out of it today, but could only do so if I found someone to take my spot and the clincher is I had until 3 today and guess what there were no takers :scared1: I am sooo not looking forward to this---it is an actual masters level class that I am taking and it starts this Saturday. :headache:
Enough of my rant. Has anyone heard from MONICA???
Will you actually get a masters credit? I just happened to click on a random page and saw this.

A couple random things...
The bird is back. Yes, we are bird sitting for my neighbor...Again. They are bringing their DD to college tomorrow and are coming back on Saturday. Anyone willing to take bets on when they pick their bird up? I've got $10 on Sunday night, after 7.
Bird sitting huh? I have the craziest bird sitting story. My friend was watching a friend of his bird for the day. The bird was squaking and making a fuss so he opened the cage so the bird could fly around the room..well the bird got mad and bit him hard in the hand and his instant reaction was to fliing his hand away really quick..taking the bird with him..the poor bird hit a closet door that was off its hinges and ...well..went to birdy heaven  My friend panicked and stuffed the bird back in the cage and called his friend saying that he should come home..his bird looked sick. The friend came home and just figured that the bird died of natural causes, and said " oh look, he looks kind of bruised up..he must have been struggling in his cage ..poor thing!" Long story short, don't fling a bird. I know its sort of a sick story, but really, if you knew what an animal lover my friend is, its pretty ridiculous this happened to him!
hey everybody:)

yep, it's melatonin. i swear by it when i can't sleep. i can take one and it knocks me out in about 30 minutes and i don't feel all groggy the next morning. you can get a bottle of them for like $5 in the vitamin aisle.

yeah, i saw it. i thought it was good, but honestly i thought the routines would be better. i guess i just expect too much from them now! i've been trying to vote for sabra because i think she's the best all around. i can't get through on the line though.....so that's a good sign! i really don't care who wins, but i hope it's sabra or danny. i LOVE neil, but he wasn't that great tonight. and i love lacy, too, but to me she's not even in the same league as the other 3 as a dancer. just my opinion. ;)
Yeah, I did think the hip hop routine for Neil and Sabra was a little 'eh', and I did like the cha cha better, but still thought it could have been something more. I did LOVE the Viennese waltz and the lindy hop. I also thought the routine that Neil and Danny did was kinda cool. I love Neil too, but don't think he will win. I agree that it wasn't his best night. I think Lacy's area of expertise and style is so different from the others that it makes it odd to compare, but I do love her. Sabra and Danny - they are both great. I agree that I will be happy with whoever wins. I would like to see it be a girl though. Like Nigel said, there hasn't been a girl winner yet. I mostly just can't wait to find out.

Oh, and one of the medicines has something to do with potasium too. I am so informed, huh?!
Thanks for all the prayers guys. It has really helped me to feel a little better tonight. Now if I could just get rid of MY crying headache, maybe I could fall asleep.
I totally understand about the $$ thing. Vet care adds up fast and when it's all OOP, sometimes you have to make the best choices with the limitations you have. The max cal and a/d are both good foods, just make sure she eats and drinks. Medical terms and treatments can be confusing. The only reason I know so much is from experience.
DO~ Sorry to hear about your dog. It is teh hardest decision to make.
Harley~ Hang in there. As Sandy likes to say; when you're at the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on! Vent here all you want, we all need a safe place to let it out.
Sandy~Your dsgf and family will be in my prayers. It is so scary when you personally know people who are affected by these disasters. My DSis is in Hawai'i all by herself with my neice and nephew and they were being threatened by a hurricaine (well, typhoon actually since it's in the Pacific) and I called to check on her the ohter day. I got up yesterday to read that a 5.4 magnitude quake hit close to the islands as well. I haven't heard back from her so I'm praying they are all ok.
Lynda~ I am hoping we can meet before May! It would be so nice to meet you in person.
Warm fuzzies going out to every one who's back in school. Have a great year! And don't forget to slow down in school zones!

Have a great day everyone!
That is :rotfl: and :sad1: . My neighbor did tell us that we could let him out to fly for a bit if we wanted....uhh, I don't think so. Phoebe would gobble him down in a second. Or at least chase him around and make it impossible to catch again. She said once, her DD had the bird out flying around the house when it almost flew into a fan (that was on!) so she just swiped at it to keep it from flying into it ,and the poor bird crashed right into the wall. Poor thing. I guess better the wall, then the fan...but not for your friend.

Many good warm happy thoughts are going out to everyone who going through something right now. I'm hoping everything turns out well for all of you!:cutie:
I never did get to go out for my walk on the beach last night. I got a call at work from my mother (from the beach - lovely when your stuck at work) telling me my nieces were over. One of them got on the phone then and asked for me to come visit. I'm easy when it comes to them so I went to visit them for an hour or so. I got home at about 8.30 and it was already getting dark. (So depressing!!!) I headed out for a walk, and decieded to go my longer route out of my condo complex. That ended up being a questionable decision as it got really dark awfully fast. I'll walk through my condo complex late at night without worrying too much, but I it just doesn't feel as safe outside of it. At least in the complex the units are close to the sidewalks. Out in the rest of the neighborhood the houses are more set back. Next time I'll stick to the neighborhood!
I feel great though that I've taken a walk everynight this week. I don't know why, but I've been very hungry all week. I've been having super cravings for something sweet and baked. I'm doing my best to ignore it, as Saturday is my town's annual festival and I plan on allowing for a few off-plan things - just in small quantities.

I myself am ready for cooler weather so we can hike some this fall!
EEyore - Yikes! :wizard: for safe trip to dsgf
thanks for the hugs i needed em :flower3:
been up since about 4 am with things on my mind...trying to sort out everything at once has my brain in overdrive! I should be an emotional basket case by the end of the day!
Dismom mentioned someone taking some kind of sleeping aid that was natural- melan-somtething? anybody got any info on it?
have a skinny day!
Chiming to :thumbsup2 Melatonin - its a natural thing, dh researched it years ago and we've kept it in the cupboard ever since!! Its esp helpful for those trans continental flights that mess with your system -
Bird story :rotfl2: My dad got an African Grey - my dad never did housework - NEVER... then he retired declared he always always wanted this bird... and to see my dad with this bird!! IT got extremely annoying when he first got the bird, I couldnt talk to my mom or dad w/o talking to Buddy first!! (birds name "My name is Bud WIS er but you can call me Buddy") :rotfl2: I'm telling you its the craziest thing. From time to time I have to babysit buddy (we live far so its only been twice) and the bird has bonded with my father - not my mother, but apparently the bird accepts mom as part of the "flock" :rotfl2: You have to let Buddy out of the cage to feed him - and when at my parents, Buddy likes to eat off dad's plate!! :rotfl2: He only "tests" when he bites - tests to see if it bothers you!!!
Gayle BEST WISHES!! I'll be there before I'm ready!! Dont forget duct tape, scissors , needle and thread!! BE Prepared!!
Harley we've got you - just hold on!!
Wings Good for you!! :thumbsup2 Life happens!!
I hope it counts that I walked in 2 circles for 30 min at the mall before shopping yesterday, the rain never stopped!!
Today - MUST do laundry - the laundry monster has totally taken over every room!! Heading to the laundramat as soon as dh gets off the phone!!
:yay: DH has a ride to WI if someone can drive him 30 min west of here tonight!! and its BIG BROTHER night... so I know who I'm hoping does the driving :rolleyes1
(PS According to Live Feeds I'm not going to like who goes tonight!! :rotfl2: ) Cant wait to see those visitors tho!!

OH DEAR..i can't even imagine that bird meeting the fan. I am glad that bird situation ended on a much better note than my friends...:sad2: This is why i like "land animals"..i imagine it would be tough to leash a bird! :lmao:
Eeyore---That sounds like my Dad and my dog. He never liked animals, wanted them or anything, he retired, all of a sudden loves the family cat and when my dog comes to visit him he just eats it up. I hope to become a "dr doolittle" when i retire someday ;)

Will you actually get a masters credit? I just happened to click on a random page and saw this.
It will go on my certificate as a Masters in Economics, but I will not get extra pay for it. Today they sent out an e-mail stating that we could either get the 5 Cont. Ed. Credits or credit for a Masters Class--which I need as many as I can get since I lost 18 hours worth of credit---I know my own fault and a lot of wasted money. I was planning on going back to school this Fall until Rebekah--oh well there is always later.

Hey Peeps,
I'm looking for your thoughts on something that is Disney and boy related. I mentioned awhile ago that I really need an Epcot fix. And I still do, but my schedule is just all over the place so the only time I can really go is if I left on a Saturday and came back on Sunday since I have work now. Then I got this huge brochure in the mail for the Food and Wine Festival and decided that I really wanted to go to that. So I've been thinking about trying to squeeze a weekend trip in somewhere once I get settled with work and school this upcoming semester.
Then  I thought about asking the boy to come with me. He likes Epcot and he likes to try new foods (and sometimes drinks) - best of both worlds right? Now even though I still have romantic feelings for him, I'm not inviting him with those intentions because he seems pretty set in his thinking that a serious relationship isn't the best idea right now (even though I feel safe in saying he has some romantic feelings for me as well). But I don't want him to get freaked out with me asking him to "go away for the weekend". I wanted to bring it up kinda soon so he could think about it and I could book a hotel if necessary since August is almost over...Think I should ask him?

I know I'll bring it up...just have to find the right time. Don't want it to be too out of the blue. Maybe I'll say I just got the brochure and I really want to go some weekend...does he want to come? That could work. And yes I have AP's. One day tickets are ridiculous now, but I don't think he'd have a problem buying one. Money is not his issue. I think he could get some kind of Fl. Res discount too which could save him a couple bucks. Thats the least of my worries right now though...I just want to ask him and have him say yes.
Just had a slight panic moment. I went to go submit my 2nd take home exam that is due tonight...and my internet was down. Luckily it came back within 10 minutes. Whew!

No negative here. I actually lost the hours a couple of years ago---I was in an accident and could not finish a class. THen whenever I would go to take classes they would not make---basically the University only wanted teachers in the summer and there was no way I was going to do that many classes in 2 summers only. By the time I realized what was going on I only had 2 summers left and still had over halfof my course work left. My plan was to start at another College here in town that is on quarters and see if they would honor any of the other classes. With DH work schedule and the new baby there was no way to start this FALL. I would rather have a baby than classes anyday.

YES it is Live - just think Eric has to do "America's" bidding - that is screwing things - and YES THEY FLIP AND FLOP just like last week - -
which is way cool!! NO ONE knows!! and :rotfl2: Dani is thinking that she shouldnt vote to KEEP her dad - why would she?? :rotfl2: MY guess not educated but things make you go hmmmm THE Diary Room is messing with the Live Feeds having the Hamsters flip flop so no one knows for sure!! :rotfl2:
They totally convinced Amber and Jameka to keep Eric - it was overheard in the live feeds one night - now its more of that psychological maneuvering - if you get my meaning - they are messing with their minds - which is what Big Brother is supposed to do!! So they may tell Dani to mess with the internet feeds by saying (not doing) she may vote OUT her dad - I dont believe for a minute she would, my gut instinct - but I could be wrong!!
PS ALL this is my speculation - I have no idea!! I just LOL at the flip flopping!! ITA about Dick - I dont like how he is treating the women - I dont like his game play - I dont mind Dick perse - he does add a l ot to the show - but I dont like the words he uses to mess with some of the women - he's backed off Jen - but that whole "gaming" her was beyond necessary imho!!

Hi. I am home! It's really nice to be home. I came home yesterday if you can believe it. I got the ok and said see ya! The ward was so busy and I just couldn't stand listening to the crying baby next door any longer. I pray that baby doesn't stay like that for that mom. They had a sign on the door that prohibited just anyone from walking in the room. Go figure she checked out minutes before me.
Here's a link to see extra pictures of Madelyn the hospital took.

OK, so the past few weeks I haven't really been trying to lose anything or watching what I've been eating, mainly because I haven't had much of an appetite and when I did eat, I got full very quickly. I even managed to lose a few lbs. But this past week, I started feeling like my old self (I'm thinking maybe it is being home alone a lot more than I have been) and my eating is starting to show it. So I've decided I'm getting through the weekend and on Monday I'm starting fresh...really trying to watch what I eat and make a real effort to lose some more weight. Having a set schedule with work and school helps...plus if I'm really ambitious I have time to wake up and work out for a bit in the morning before work/school. Just wanted to let you know to make some room for me on the wagon, I'm ready to jump back on. :cheer2:

They do an annual show called "Letting Go" Susie Boggus has a real tear jerker of a song...
She'll take the painting in the hallway,
The one she did in jr. high
And that old lamp up in the attic,
She'll need some light to study by.
She's had 18 years to get ready for this day
She should be past the tears, she cries some anyway
Oh oh letting go
There's nothing in the way now,
Oh letting go, there's room enough to fly
And even though, she's spent her whole life waiting,
It's never easy letting go.
Mother sits down at the table
So many things she'd like to do

OMG - I truly am sobbing!!
 no advice here....just a hug!
what a sad song. when i was in high school a girl was singing that song at some sort of end-of-the-year program and she was senior, leaving for college in a couple months, and her mom was a secretary at the school and was at the program. the girl walked over to her mom in the middle of the song and started singing it to her. talk about sobbing!!!
about BB - i wasn't surprised after i saw eric talking to ED about a deal. it really is smart for him and jessica, even though i hate ED. now jameka and amber are outnumbered and jen and zach are the wild cards. they could join jameka and amber and it would be four-four. we'll see! i think jen's already kinda made a deal with ED though. did you see her goodbye message to dustin? "hi, dustin, it's jen." HE KNOWS WHO IT IS......YOU'RE ON TV......HE CAN SEE YOU!!!!! she cracks me up. i've gotten over my hatred for her and now i just laugh at her. if she ends up being the smart cookie playing dumb that her mom said she is, it will be a performance worthy of an oscar!!!
i'm off to bed. skinny dreams everyone! :flower3:

Serious note - added prayers for the Utah Miners... and those in Peru - DS heard that his gf and dad and sis were near Machu Peechu, but they are seriously sick (and took pills to prevent it before leaving!) and are in a hotel... hoping to get out of Peru asap!!
Whew!
Ohhhh, I'm anxious to see how this plays out! MEN!!!! Just ask...when the opportunity pops up, with some prodding ;) Good Luck!!!!!!! :wizard:
oh god....please don't tell me dick is staying. i don't know how much more of him i can take. but dont' tell me.......i gotta wait til tonight to find out!
ARRRRRGH!!! Isn't he a ,well, "his name"??? I totally hate him. I REALLY hate when he makes fun of the Christian ladies! That' is SO not cool. He reminds me of a grown up bully. OK, I did NOT see it tonight! WHAT happened? No, is there a place I can look at for a summary? I'll try cbs.com.
MONICA! Oh she is soooo cute! Mmmmm, I bet she smells like Baby Magic or Johnsons baby lotion :cloud9: The pics reminds me of one of Norah's nursery photos...she was flipping the birdie  !!!! THAT's my girl!
UGH, friday is here too fast. I don't think it occurred to me I was dieting this whole week....:scared1: I'm soooo afraid to see what the consequences will be. 37 more days to lose like a million more pounds. UGHHH! I am so mad at myself!
I just want there to be NO 2's (again!) in my number. Yet I sabotage myself for some reason. Maybe I'm more secure when I'm padded. I have no idea. But for the most part I'm truly happy and blessed. So what gives?

Hi.
Use August 13, Michigan, Joh as mom's last name if you want a peak. Her stats are there too!

We are resting lots and being waited on. Malorie and her brothers adore their new sister. She looks like my Zachary. She's a Johnson.
Hope everyone is doing well over here. When I can do the steps I'll take lots of pics and post. She's wearing her first at home outfit and it has bambi on it.:cloud9:
What a beautiful little girl!! She is precious :)

GOOD MORNING & HAPPY WEIGH IN DAY!:sunny:
Here's to some BIG numbers today!
Welp....no school today. My kids always have Friday off of the first week of school. I guess the teachers/admin work and readjust or whatever after all the enrollment is in.
Anyway....no lunches! Yay!
I still have to get to work early. This is our busiest weekend of the year in my ministry area.
HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!

:cool1: :cool1: -4 POUNDS!!! I managed to hold on to the three I lost earlier this week and add another (not easy considering we had a "goodbye" lunch for a summer student at PIZZA HUT yesterday -- thank gracious I love their salads). That brings my uber total to -43 lbs and gets me under my major-mini goal to weigh less than I did when I graduated from college. Next stop high school. I have 22 lbs to lose for that next major-mini goal. Onward and downward.
I am taking a few moments to reward myself for getting this far: I have a massage scheduled on Monday. Of course I am quite the chicken and scheduled the Hands and Feet massage instead of full body...
Mony -- she is beyond precious! I took Lexi's hint and "played the pics like a movie." Almost looks like she's doing sign language. ;)
Good weigh-in thoughts to all and a hand-up to those who need it...

No WI for me today. I didn't bring the scale with me, which is probably a good thing! Don't think I really want to know what the number is today. Eating when you are not home is NOT pretty!!! :scared1:
Monica...Madelyn is ADORABLE!!! :cutie: God has truly blessed your family!!!
MJ...Congrats on more big numbers!!! :thumbsup2 WTG!!!
Rehearsal is tonight at 6! It's cloudy right now, but no rain is predicted until Mon! YAY! I hope it stays that way! The wedding is outside and there is an alternative spot, but we would prefer not to have to use it! I am getting my hair done tomorrow at 12:15 and we all had manicures and/or pedicures last night! 9 of us went and it was a blast!!! I have pretty red toes to go with my pretty red finger nails! :hippie: Went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant. Good food.
Eeyore...It is hard when the kids go off to college, especially when we don't get to drop them off! Hope you are doing better today.

So many things she'd like to do
Spend more time out in the garden
Now she can get those books read too.
She's had 18 years to get ready for this day
She should be past the tears, she cries some anyway.

Keep yourself busy.
Thanks everyone. She's a keeper. I too did the fast fly through with the pictures and I thought she was dancing.
Going to get my staples out today!
She's so little I have to get out the preemie outfits. Nothing fits her yet in the newborn sizes. It's a good thing I got a few. I didn't wash them I thought I'd hold on to them in case, well I need them now.
Here's to being BIG LOSERS! Have a great weigh in day!

backing out of weighing in this week..just can't deal with it today...
:cheer2:
DITTO..i've been trying to go to the gym..but only made it 3 times this week..and my eating, well its been better..so like you, i know i need to jump both feet BACK on the wagon if i want to see something happen! :)
i'm very pleased with the dance results tonight. i started clapping and scared eli and he ran under the bed!
Hahahah...i just pictured poor eli running from the loud noise..my cat does that all the time. YAY for Sabra! :)
UGH, friday is here too fast. I don't think it occurred to me I was dieting this whole week....:scared1: I'm soooo afraid to see what the consequences will be. 37 more days to lose like a million more pounds. UGHHH! I am so mad at myself!

i hear that!!!
i'm mad at myself today too...and i really do wonder if i am sabotaging myself as well..but then i see super cute clothes that i just can't rock because of my current shape, which i call "frumpalicious"...and i get in gear. so maybe i should have pictures from Fall fashion mags on front of my fridge and near my gym clothes for motivation...hmmm...and i totally understand how you added that you are truly happy and blessed. i feel that way overall..so the mixed messages i give myself and do to myself don't make sense. Bottom line, maybe I am just plain lazy and have trouble fully commiting to something.:sad2: Time to change that!

Happy Friday y'all! I've had a busy and exhausting week. Two days at the fair then nearly half a day talking to the admissions people at teh school. We had to help my DSis get her dog to and from the vet for his neuter around everything else we were trying to do. The good news is, I have been recommended for admission and as long as we can sort out financial aid, I'm going to get a associates degree in BA with focus on management. It's a 2 yr program and I can go on to get a bachelors if I want. I'm excited and scared all at the same time. I still have to work as well and have been half heartedly job hunting. If I don't work, it will be hard to cover any expenses that fin aid doesn't cover and we can't do anything extra or fun. It drives us crazy to not have the ability to go out and do things so it's worth it for me to work.
I didn't forget WI today. I was kind of concerned about the number since I did the fair and my preview weight was way too high. I am very happy to say I am a samer this week! I gained and then lost 4 lbs!
Have a skinny day PEEPS!

It's been a crazy busy week which meant almost no exercising for me, but I managed to have a 0.6 pound loss for the second week in a row. I seem to spend Monday - Thursday making up for Friday - Sunday. If it wasn't for the weekend, I'd probably be seeing much better numbers. But this brings me to a grand total of 34 pounds lost since the start of the year; an uber-grand total of 58 pounds lost since April 2005; and I am now 27 pounds away from my goal weight of 155.
Hope everyone is doing well! to everyone that needs them, congrats to those that deserve them, and good luck to all on weigh in day!
BB - Ugh! I can't believe the voting ended that way!!! Well actually, I can believe it because I'm sure this is what the BB producers had in mind when they instituted the America's player thing. They had to have figured that that the people voting for that were going to do everything they could to turn the house on it's ear, which is exactly what has been happening.

it's like he can't accept the fact that people actually didn't do what he wanted them to do!!!!! :scared1: oh, the horror! he's a big baby if you ask me. i hope danielle actually runs her HOH this time around instead of letting him do it. which brings me to what happened.......eric was told by "america" to vote dustin out. so he plants that seed in jessica's head. then ED talks to him about voting for dustin and aligning with him and danielle. amber and jameka were totally shocked. i don't think either of them knew what hit them. i'm surprised amber didn't commit suicide. and i'm not joking.....i'm serious. the girl has some serious mental issues. i hope she goes this week. my top pick would be ED, but danielle, who won HOH, is not going to put him up. if you want more details, i'm sure sandy knows of a website to go to for a review. my favorite one is retired.......the guy who ran it got tired of all the hate e-mails!
I still have to get to work early. This is our busiest weekend of the year in my ministry area.
i'm curious.....why is it so busy? is that something you can share?

I am -1.2. Better than I expected considering how bad I was this weekend. I know next week I am likely to be a samer thanks to AF... I am 1.4 lbs away from my pre-WDW trip goal of 175 lbs, 6.4 away from my stretch goal.
Yay to MJ and punkin!! D I know how much you want to get those last few away!
 to Sandy.
I am headed to the beach tonight to spend the weekend with my family. Not really looking forward to it, as I don't really get along very well with my brother. Luckily it is only tonight, tomorrow, and half of Sunday!
As to the sabatoging, lifestyle change thing... I think that you have to get to a point where being thinner is more important to you than anything else. That point is VERY VERY difficult to get to... it took me at least a year, maybe two, of start/stop, start/stop, to get to it.
And finally, I exercise so much because I am TERRIFIED of loose skin. I have two friends that dropped 70-80 lbs very quickly with no exercise and both have the "pocket" of skin on their belly. Everytime I don't want to go to the gym I think of the one girl (who is very thin but with hanging skin) and I go and hit some sort of cardio as hard as I can! I still may get it but I am trying as hard as I can (and moisturizing as much as possible).

:woohoo: Down -4 this week!:woohoo:
I was feeling pretty good about things this week, but I did have some birthday cheesecake on Monday so I wasn't sure how things were going to turn out.
I think the nightly walks have been helping, even though they are exhausting me! I was going to skip it last night, and just walk on the mini tramp inside instead, but I forced myself out the door to do it. I just know I wouldn't have worked as hard if I was walking inside. Took about a 50 minute walk (stayed in the condo complex this time as it was already dark when I headed out). Tomorrow is going to be a bit tough. It's our town's festival day which means lots of bad, tempting food. I've already told myself I'm going to allow for a small piece of fried dough, and everything else will have to be healthy choices. I know the dough is bad, but I only have it once a year at the festival. It's a treat. I'll just have to think about how happy I was looking at the scale this morning to stick to stick with being good tomorrow.
Only 3 lbs to go before I'm back under 200 again! That's the goal for next Friday!

OK, so I lost the .4 I think I gained last week (I couldn't stand on the scale correctly because of my toe, so who knows.) But that's not all! I lost 1.4 lbs this week (putting me at 216.8), for a total loss of 33.2 lbs so far! Now, if I can maintain that this week. See, we were supposed to go to Cedar Point this weekend. Well, it's an annual thing, and we always take DH's sis for her b-day, but she couldn't get off work the same weekend DH was off. And we couldn't find anyone else to go. So since DH doesn't do the thrill rides with me, we decided it was pretty silly to go there. (As much as I wanted to conquer Millienium Force now that I am sure I would be able to fasten the safety belt! Oh well - next year!) SO, we are going back to Door County, WI for the weekend! I am SOOOOOO excited because it doesn't get much more relaxing than Door County for me, and I need that! Plus, we haven't been in a few years. So I'm really looking forward to it.
I know JUST what you mean! I am truly a happy person overall. I have much to be thankful for, and I am! And have been - especially since I have been in my current job. However, for some reason, I couldn't get the motivation/determination/commitment together to do anything about my weight! I think I got really fed up with my weight, and I was not liking pictures of myself that much. (Which is bad because I am SUCH a picture person! Love them!) I was frustrated with the limitations my weight was causing for me, and I saw that number - 250 on the scale, and I could NOT BELIEVE it! I have never weighed that much in my life! And I was at my largest size in clothes. It was starting to have an impact on my health. (The acid reflux, the sprained ankle from our trip last November...) I just HAD to do something. And then I found the Peeps for inspiration, and I made a choice, and I haven't looked back! :) Even now, it is a struggle sometimes. I am happy, but I do have a lot of stress at times, and it's a challenge to stay on track. When I do hit a roadblock, I just have to keep doing what I'm doing. Maybe change it up a little, but keep going. I also find reading back through some of the earlier posts on this thread is helpful if I need a little extra boost. I'll be thinking of ya and praying for your success (as I will for all the Peeps)!

you ain't kidding! they're coming off S-O S-L-O-W!!!! but i know i shouldn't complain because i'm very happy to have made it this far. those last 4 pounds are nagging at me so badly though!!!
i think walking/jogging in the 103-degree heat yesterday probably helped with weigh-in this morning! :scared: i just hope next week is as good. tomorrow will be a bad food day. we're having lunch with my sister (who is visiting her sort-of-boyfriend just north of atlanta) and then i have a bach. party tomorrow night. a couple of my friends are going out to eat beforehand and then i'm sure there will be alcohol consumed. i just hope it doesn't ruin my weigh-in next week!

I have never weighed that much in my life! what she said!!!!! well put, lynda! you just have to make a firm decision and stick to it. of course you're going to fall off the wagon some, but you just get right back on QUICKLY before too much damage is done! it CAN be done!!!! :goodvibes

I down 1 lb. If I would have posted yesterday it would have been more - weird how I weighed more today. I must have had something yesterday that caused water retention - oh, I did drink pop and that seems to do it for me. Only got on the treadmill once this week - but that's better than the last few weeks!
I have on day 13 of my husband being out of town. Fortunately it comes home tonight so I'm very excited to be done with single parenting!
I enjoyed the baby pictures posted this week. Very cute babies!
Off to laundry land! Then we're headed to the pool.

Yo Yo Dieter checking in!
I literally have an up to 7 pound up or down on any given DAY!
This morning before going potty and showering, I weighed as much as I did on DAY 1 of starting this thread. I kid you not! By now, I could have posted a 5 lb. ribbon 50 times...and taken it away 51 times! BUT, get this, after going potty (#1) and showering and drying off it was down a pound. :wizard:
Let's do the logical math that never seems to compute in my head:
Eat less calories and fat + MOve MORE = Weight Loss
Continue to eat less + Move More = MORE weight loss
Keep eating less + Moving More = Actual weight loss numbers, more than 7!
Hmmmmm? I'm MISSING the "move more" part of the math. Except I do now officially OWN a treadmill... I have actually walked on it twice.
I'm fairly certain this week I must have eaten enough calories to maintain and didn't exercise resulting in a small gain.
Do I even HAVE a metabolism any more? :rotfl2:
I'm committing right here and now to THREE 30 minute times on my treadmill. This I promise myself and my peeps.
I also vow for this week not to eat BREAD. My weakness. Plus whatever I smear or put on top of the bread can't be good.
SO, my GRAND total since starting this thread is officially 1.2 pounds.
Which is equal to one trip to the potty.:upsidedow

Just checking in! I'm not weighing myself because I've learned that my mom's scale is possessed and adds and extra 20lbs plus guilt! ;) I've been having a great time! I've been shopping everyday since I got here and for the first time in my life I'm tired of shopping!!1 I can't believe I said that. You can do it!!!! And bread is a HUGE weakness for me. In fact, I have been known to choose what restaurant we go eat at based on if they give you bread or not, and how good it is ;)
okay.....you can tell i haven't been pregnant yet because when i read this i cringed! i'm sure all the mommies out there didn't even flinch! good luck with that monica!
I never had staples with my c-section. OUCH. I just had disolving stitches and some tape thingy on the outside :confused3
Congrats to all our losers today...and even our samers and gainers. At least you are making the effort, and that is a big accomplishment!
I did my first round of dance classes today for fall...and boy do I need to get my butt on my treadmill. I havent even gained anything but I already feel very huge and out of shape :sad2: I need to keep up with some sort of cardio/conditioning or I wont be able to teach thru Christmas like I was hoping to.

49 pounds!?! That is excellent! Good job!!!
I personally set my short term goals as going under the next 10 pound mark. So my first goal was 229 (well technically 239, but that was only a 1-pound loss), then 219, then 209, etc. So my current goal is 179, which I am three pounds away from. Typically when I reach that goal, I feel so good about myself that I try to post something inspirational to help remind myself of what I have accomplished, and what I have to do to keep moving forward. Then I can look back on it when I am feeling down about my weight so that I don't turn to food to comfort me.

I think I may be 2# less from when we started, I so forget what my start wieght was - I do know I've gone up and down and up and down, and up and up and up, then down and up and down and up...
I'm trying to commit to 30 min a day walking - 3 days a week wogging... and doing those bloody exercises every other day strength and curl ups...
Kat I still cant find the book that I read why you can do crunches every day, but not strength training - I read it to Fidge over the phone, it has to be done here somewhere!!

Because they are devoting their entire life to weight loss at that point! If I didn't have a job, a house to take care of, a commute, etc., and could have my perfectly balanced meals prepared for me PLUS have a state of the art gym right there for me to use 3-5 hours a day...
Anyhow I am afraid of dropping weight that fast, back to the loose skin thing. And think, 2 lbs a week, and in 20 weeks (5 mos) you will be down 40 lbs!

I guess I just have my final goal of 145. I do set mini-goals along the way... by this point I want to be x, etc. I am expecting this to take a while so I just keep at it, chipping away a little at a time. I hope to be 170 by the time I leave for the Sept trip, 160 by Nov, and to reach my final goal sometime early next year.
DH really wants to try Alli. I am on the fence... I am not sure we need it in order to lose weight and I think it is a lot of $$. He has lost 30 lbs since March and hasn't really tried that hard, he just wants a quick fix to lose the rest and I think that is a bad idea. If he does it though, I will probably play too.
UM, you go!

amen!!! i always look at movie stars/singers/famous people and think of how much i want to look like them (well....some of them.....not the bobble-head-looking ones like victoria beckham!) and then i remember how they look like that: they have a personal chef, a personal trainer and they get PAID to look that way. if that was my situation, i'd have a killer body, too! we all would!!!

i think a couple of peeps tried it. aries, was it you? seems like there was someone else too?
a girl at the gym was talking about it. she said that every time she ate anything with ANY sort of fat in it, that she'd have REALLY bad gas and when it came time to go big potty you better watch out because she'd be running. i already have digestive problems, so i know it's not for me!

30 minutes a day, 3 times a week is a great place to start! When I saw the doctor just before my May trip, he told me that doing lower impact for longer periods of time would burn more fat. So once I was able to get back into an exercise routine, I have been trying to do 50-60 minutes a day on my recumbent bike 3 times a week. That's what I've been doing for the past few weeks consistently. It seems to be working!

Congrats on your loss!
I set up mini goals for myself. My first was 30 lbs by our May trip. (I started at the beginning of the year. Missed that one by like .5 lbs - no biggie.) My next goal was 15-20 by our September trip. (That for a total loss of about 40-45 lbs because I gained at WDW in May. ;)) I am 6.8 lbs away from 40 now. My next will be to get rid of the 2 in the front of my number! That would be another 10-ish + whatever I gain from free dining. :scared: I'll probably try to do that by the end of the year, roughly. Then I think I'll want to do another 20-30 by our trip next May. At that point, I don't know how much more I'll have to lose. That should put me around 170-180, and I'll have to see what size I am then. I want to get down to a size 12. (I'm 5'7") That should bring me relatively close based on past experience. But who knows! Maybe I'll want to do even more. Some of my 18's are too big ladies! I am about to order some pants from Old Navy in size 16, putting me down 2 sizes! :woohoo:
You can do it!!!! And bread is a HUGE weakness for me. In fact, I have been known to choose what restaurant we go eat at based on if they give you bread or not, and how good it is ;)

DD is now a certified babysitter!! :woohoo:
While she was in her class I went back to Lane Bryant - I bought 2 shorts, 4 shirts for Disney - $92... then I got home and in the mail was a coupon for $25 off - so today I took it all back to rebuy it to get the $25 off... so she does that... then the manager came over and told her the coupon isnt good for sale items - nor is the buy one shirt get one 1/2 off (no signs on anything that its for their full price $30 tshirts! :headache: )
so I get mad and think I'll just take one pair of shorts and 2 shirts... Kohls and Macy's is having 75% off sales...
 NOW my credit card wont take another hit - apparently its a safety thing!! So I have to put it all on hold and re buy it tomorrow... Maybe I should just screw it! I dont need new clothes... my old stuff is big enough! :snooty:

yes, same guy. it's going as good as can be expected. he's obviously kissing her butt right now, as he should be. he left nashville at the end of july and moved down here, about an hour from me, to go to school. then he went up to new york to see his family the first couple weeks of august before school started. she drove down here last night. i don't know if they're "officially" back together, but i'm glad they're trying to work it out. i think they're a good match as long as he continues to treat her right. he just made a HUGE mistake and i think he's learned from it. it really made me see the situation differently when someone pointed out to me.....what if he was a girl and the skank-woman that took advantage of him while he was all liquored up was a guy? there would be police involved and charges filed. not that that's an excuse......just a different way of looking at it! this will be the first time i've seen him since it happened. we're going to lunch at bahama breeze. ray will be with me so if i feel myself wanting to say something nasty to him i can just grab ray's leg and squeeze!!!

I DO see what you're saying. I mean, if a girl was basically watching and waiting for the right moment to pounce... And if he is working on the drinking thing (I think you said he was going to.), it could truly be an isolated incident. I would say let them keep the stuff. I hate when stores do that. If the coupons (or signs) dont say you cant use them together, then you should be able to. As my mom would say, "It just wasnt meant to be". She would tell us that when we wanted her to buy us something not on sale. She would say "no, wait til it goes on sale" and then we would whine and complain it would be gone or not in our size by then ...so she'd say if it was meant to be it would still be there. And we usually believed her:rotfl:

she picked leftovers. I'm beginning to wonder about that one!! Last night she just wanted a glass of ice for dinner, she could've had pop - and she just pushed food around her plate. Its not good. She is eating now tho... cheese, chips, apple juice, fresh pineapple, carrots and dip... but I'm really hoping she doesnt spiral the other way!! Hello all!-1pound...not great , but I have to own it because I'm the one doing it to myself. I am so tired of yo-yo dieting. Up, down, up, down. Lose 3, gain 2. I went to the doctor today. I feel like such a cheat. I am going to try Adipex. My cousin tried this and it REALLY worked. I had not seen her in a year or so, and I saw her recently... all I can say is WOW. The doctor said this will help to lose it, but to maintain? Not a chance. It's a four month program. I do feel like I'm cheating by using a pill, but I am also excited. I know how to maintain my weight ALOT better now than when I first lost it.(alot of trial and error, mainly diet during the week, and eat "normal" on Sunday) Well, maybe that sentence was a little telling, it is not "normal" to eat like I do on my cheat days. I need to rethink that I guess. I guess I'm still feeling confused as to wether or not I want to lose weight by chemicals. I don't know, anybody have any thoughts on this?

ok my quote didnt work right
i have tried adipex..it made me a lttle jittery and i felt really mean when i was on it. and when i got off it I gained all the weight i had lost plus 10 lbs.
IMHO it might be ok to get you started, but in the end if you dont change your habits then your gonna gain it back if you revert back to your old habits...

Is anybody watching High School Musical 2?
DD13 has gone to a HSM2 slumber party! Yes!
She took DSIL's copy of Rolling Stone (www.rollingstone.com). Zac Efron is on the cover. I keep reminding myself I'm old enough to be his mother.

ok my quote didnt work right
i have tried adipex..it made me a lttle jittery and i felt really mean when i was on it. and when i got off it I gained all the weight i had lost plus 10 lbs.
IMHO it might be ok to get you started, but in the end if you dont change your habits then your gonna gain it back if you revert back to your old habits...
I agree with you harley. While it could definitely help and get you started (which I totally get tempted to do), it won't be long term if you don't change how you think and feel about food and eating.
My cousin had gastric bypass about 3 years ago, lost over 100lbs, doing great, exercising at the gym daily. Then about a year after the surgery she came down for a visit...and I actually saw how she was eating. Horribly! Never drank water except to get down a vitamin (only drank sugar free juice and diet soda), ate few veggies (most popular were corn and iceberg lettuce), and when we went out she got fatty foods like hamburgers or chicken nuggets. And on her last 2 visits after that she has continued to eat the same and I've even noticed that she has gained some weight back. I truly think the only thing saving her is that she still consistently goes to the gym. My point is, she spent all this money on the surgery, recuperating from it as well, and she still eats the same bad stuff she ate before. She wants to have the "body lift" surgery, but her blood is too bad and I know that it has to have a lot to do with her current diet.
Anyway, my longwinded point is that the pill may help but it isn't a quick fix or a cure all.
(Not that I haven't tried a few and thought about trying a few more)

We are back in business! Sorry to post again about the boy, but after my week of getting semi-frustrated that we were only talking about our stupid tests and not much else, I was starting to give up hope of anything happening. But tonight we conferred about our last exam at 8....took a break to answer the rest of the questions...and we were finished going over the test by 9:20. But note that it is 10:20 and I just got off the phone. ;) An hour's worth of good old fashioned talking (i.e. nothing about school!) with loads of flirting. Woooo hooty.

Shannon, :yay:
:woohoo:
That's awesome Lynda! If it gives you any indication, I am just under 5'8 and currently 176, and I am fitting in a size 12. So if 12 is your goal, 170 sounds reasonable!
I started at 218 and was a 16/18 (most 16s were too tight, wore lots of stretchiness, and was probably an 18 that just wouldn't admit it!).
I brought some home and had a fake B&T with my Morningstar fake Bacon strips, yummy tomato, and Kraft Lite Three Cheese Ranch for mayo. :thumbsup2

That dressing is the absolute bomb! I think I would starve without it.
What's for dinner Peeps? I'm having leftover steak, aspargus, and parmesean cheese!!
I asked dd what's for dinner she said "Can we go out" I said "sure, lets go" She says "No, you bring me back Burger King" um nope... either you come or we have leftovers...
she picked leftovers. I think she wants to be a "vegan" but doesnt like vegatbles!! (she often talks about not eating the baby pig, or the cute little chicken)
Dinner was a chicken nugget happy meal (500 cals) and a McD's ice cream cone (150 cals) eaten during my drive to the beach. Combined w/ my 150 cal b-fast (english muffin w/ 1/4 cup eggbeaters cooked in the micro w/ one tsp reduced fat bacon bits), 290 cal lunch (LC mac&cheese), and one 80 cal 4 oz glass of wine, I am still under 1200! Plus I did 45 min on the elliptical and 105 crunches.
I am at the Outer Banks visiting family so I will likely be MIA the next day or so... hope everyone has a great weekend!

Oh another interesting thing about the boy situation. (I know I should really use his name, but its very, ummmm, unique so I just feel weird posting it. Paranoid much? ) Anyway, like I mentioned earlier, he is a semester behind me so he is just about to start his last rotation working at the clinic (I did mine last semester). He just got his client schedule and one of his placements is the school that I worked at the last 2 semesters (some of you may remember my MANY vents about how much I hated my supervisor). I tend to look for hidden meanings in things and to me, that is a sign that we will still be talking for awhile because we have another connection to go off of. He already said he'll probably be calling me a lot to talk about it.
This stupid boy is really making me fall for him. And he has no idea  . I feel utterly and completely comfortable around him...all the time. I'm not self conscious or constantly thinking what I should be doing/saying. I do what I would normally do. I've never felt like this with a guy before. Ever.

Thanks! That does help. I really think 170 will get me to a size 12. That's the least I can remember weighing in my adult life, and that's the smallest size I have been in my adult life. If I get there, and I think I can do it, I might try for a 10. I just want it to be something I can maintain. So we'll see. I haven't worn a 16 in about 4 years, so I'm excited about that!

She wants to have the "body lift" surgery, but her blood is too bad and I know that it has to have a lot to do with her current diet.
My mom had the bypass in 2000 and her eating habits changed some but not enough. She never ate veggies before so she isn't going to start now. She also slowly increased teh amount of food she was eating at one time so she can eat a small plate of food, not the 2 oz that she should eat. She has gained back some weight doing this and it baffles me why she went through the surgery and everything to return to her same unhealthy lifestyle. She can't exercise either, she has really bad knees and has to get injections in them to kep them from swelling and hurting after her normal day's activites. She has really high blood pressure and a good walk every day would help it but she's in a catch 22 with her knees. I really wish she'd find somewhere to swim.
We went to dinner with my DSis tonight. I had jalapeno poppers and a potato skin, more than one roll with cinnamon butter and butter and dark brown sugar on a baked sweet potato. I had a salad and a half though. I ate way too much and spent most of the rest of the night belching. We played cards after dinner. I don't know what got into me but I was slap happy and for a while. I was :rotfl2: and :lmao: and :rotfl2: It felt good to be stupid and laugh over nothing.
DSis and I sort of broke the law tonight. We were walking her dogs and noticed the door was open at the vaccant house across the alley from her apartment. We went to make sure everything was ok and took a little tour. It was so nice. It's a really old house and one of the few in her neighborhood that is single family living. There are 3 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms, a large kitchen with a mudroom a dining room and upstairs sunroom with washer and dryer connections. The attic is designed as a bedroom or play room. The upstairs bathrooms are fully remodeled as is the kitchen which also has new appliences. I was sold on the antique fireplace, ornate wood work, original doors and nice hardwood floors through out. The $260,000 price tag however quickly changed my mind. Click here (http://www.mibor.com/resources/find_property.asp), then click find property, enter 2714157 as the MLS# to see the listing. So many windows, a room for each of my youngin's, no more racing to the bathroom to get there first, there's a big grass median in front for the house with an 8 ft wide fountian in it. The back yard from this property looks into my sister's yard so we could spend lots of time together and it would be so convienent when we have to check on each other's houses. sigh....... I can't afford $5500 for Disney right now, let alone more than $200,000 for a home in a declining market. It makes for some nice daydreams though.
Well, I should be turning in. Night all!

i didn't see your other gross smilies! well, it didn't become public necessarily unless the deposition was filed with the court, then it's public info. i can tell you about situations...i just can't use names. the husband found out about it about six months later when the wife tried to commit suicide, got put into a mental hospital and part of her therapy was to write a letter to her dad about what had happened. well, it was a VERY DETAILED letter and when she sent it to him she didn't realize that her dad had left his wife, who received the letter. of course she opened it and read it, then proceeded to fax it to the husband of the woman in the mental hospital. thus...he filed for divorce.

They go back the 30th. Both My DD7 and DS5 will be in the same school this year so it will cut down on my driving time. I plan on walking them to school in the morning which is a 1.7 km walk each way. (3.4 for me going back and forth). They both come home for lunch..but they only have an hour and we simply don't have enought time to walk. I know that if I start by making small changes I have a better chance of sticking with it. :cheer2:

i didn't see your other gross smilies! well, it didn't become public necessarily unless the deposition was filed with the court, then it's public info. i can tell you about situations...i just can't use names. the husband found out about it about six months later when the wife tried to commit suicide, got put into a mental hospital and part of her therapy was to write a letter to her dad about what had happened. well, it was a VERY DETAILED letter and when she sent it to him she didn't realize that her dad had left his wife, who received the letter. of course she opened it and read it, then proceeded to fax it to the husband of the woman in the mental hospital. thus...he filed for divorce.
welcome back!!!!! :flower3:
it makes me appreciate having a boring life. and it also makes me see how STUPID people are! the juvenile court hearings involving DFCS are the worst.
Was the father missing teeth and sporting a haircut that said, "Business in the front...party in the back?" Perhaps their home was on wheels as well?? ;)

you'd think so, right? but nope. the husband was an anethesiologist and the wife was a nurse who left work to stay home with their 4 kids. her dad (the one she slept with) was a musician i think.

Anyone taken the Keys to the Kingdom tour? :confused3 I just reserved a time for next month...I asked what discount was the best between DVC, AP or Disney Visa and she said the Visa was 20%. Can't beat that! :thumbsup2
DH and I did this in MAY. We knew more than our guide, but still had fun with it.
Hey BEE--glad to see you--Congrats on the 40.
UPDATE--Ryan is going back into the hospital today--they did anothe biopsy of his new liver and he is rejecting again so tey are putting him on mere meds and steroids. He is done with all the Dr.'s and such --he has been through so much--[lease lift him and his family up in your prayers.
I just got back form my first economics class and it does not seem like it is going to be as bad as I thought. I have to read a lot, but that is ok. Meet again next month.

Hi Peeps,
I spent the morning in the Emergency Room. Last night my mom was taking Phoebe out for her before bedtime pee. Well my mom holds the leash strangely at times and when she opened the door, Phoebe saw a cat in the neighbor's driveway and lunged at it...pulling my mom and pretty much crushing her fingers together. Big time ouch. She came in and put some ice on it and sat for a bit before heading to bed and said if it looks worse and feels the same she will go to the ER. Well needless to say her ring finger looked pretty gross this morning so I drove her to the ER. Good thing to because she actually has 2 good fractures in her ring finger! They are right below the first 2 joints. They put on a splint and told her to go to an orthopedist on Monday or Tuesday so they can take another X-ray and decide how to proceed once some of the swelling has gone down. We keep laughing about it because it sounds pretty funny to say "Phoebe broke my finger", but please send pixie dust that she doesn't need surgery or something worse than another more permanent splint.
She's such a good patient too! I would have been way overdramatic and planted myself in bed, but she still went with me to get some more scrubs for work and go grocery shopping. Mom's are so tough!
Hope everyone's having a nice Saturday! :cutie:

I was stuck on the computer this afternoon waiting to win an ebay auction for a phone (mine has been dropped a few too many times) and thought I would catch up reading posts.
This group is so lively and full of great stories!
Shannon - Love the "boy" stories. Reminds me of dating. Although I sometimes miss dating, I really enjoy being married - 16 years! Seems like 3, really goes fast.
Punkin - I honestly had to read the post about the daughter sleeping with the father 2 or 3 times. I kept thinking certainly I wasn't reading it correctly - nope! I work in foster care/adoption so although some stories shouldn't surprise me - they still do!
Monymony - My husband would be jealous to find you live so close to Cedar Pointe. He reallys wants to go there and ride coasters. Most of the our girls would probably love it too. But I could just see myself and the 4 y/o hanging out eating popsicles (like last year at WDW) waiting for everyone else to finish their rides. When she gets a bit older, perhaps we'll venture there.
Exercise update - Yesterday I took the girls to one of the neighborhood pools. Although I generally sit in the chair and read, I actually got in the pool and stayed there for nearly an hour swimming laps and playing. Ok, hate to admit it, but I had fun. Maybe I should loosen up more often!

I hear you!!! Since I have been married I feel sick to my stomach at the thought of dating again. Something I hope to never go through again. I do not miss all the games guys play with your head. Although getting all those dates for free was nice!! ;)

Mony how can you be only 2-3 hours away??? BTW PEEPS - my very bestest relative works at Cedar point - both boys went FREE - and their gf got in FREE too!! :cool1: They loved it... FDIL told strange tales of long waits for a roller coaster that people didnt know where to sit and clogged up the line - waiting for front row seats!!
Bee!!! It is so good to hear from you!!!! I was just talking to Sandy and I said I hoped you were doing ok. Glad to hear you are moving forward and making plans. I know it's not really what you wanted but it's teh best thing for you and the girls. Sometimes a change in enviorniment brings a change in your mental state.
I just had a really nice chat with Sandy. I feel like I know her already through posting here but she is just super nice and sweet. I know I'll be talking to her more in the future.

A lot of the bands you don't recognize are mainly considered alternative. It's a much harder sound than pop and top 40. Remember the hair bands from the 80's? These are the evolution from hair bands. You may not approve of the lyrics so I suggest not listening to his playlist.

I hope you are feeling better...i had a bacholertte party a few weeks ago and it took me like 5 days to feel "myself" again..luckily in Boston there is a "no smoking" policy in all bars/restuarants/clubs otherwise i would have been having sinus issues too. blech!! :(
QUESTION
does any one here belong to a book club/have suggestions for a good "book club" book? Some of my friends and i have decided to start one and we are looking for a good first book that will keep everyone's interest. What else do you do with book clubs, and how often do people usually meet. I love that i am going to be starting something new, but would love some feedback on how its usually done...thanks!! :goodvibes

there's a no smoking policy in all buildings in georgia, too. the only thing is once a club gets crowded people do it anyway because security gets lazy and doesn't enforce it.
my two favorites books that i've read recently are "the lovely bones" by alice sebold, and "the five people you meet in heaven" by mitch albom. both are sort of about what happens after you die....different interpretations of heaven and sort of reflecting on your life, so it's not light subject matter, but VERY GOOD stories!

Ok Peeps...I need someone to calm me down. I am in the process of printing and reading through syllabi for 2 courses that start tomorrow in addition to it being the 1st day of my internship, which that in and of itself I'm freaking out about. I'm feeling incredibly overwhelmed right now. Combined, it just seems like soooo much work and I don't how I'm going to get it all done. It's not helping that I'm totally PMSing today...so every emotion I have seems to be tripled in intensity.
Have I mentioned that I'm nervous about my first day of work tomorrow?Clients I've never seen and an evaluation for a client with no case history. Should be interesting. Then I get to literally run out the door as close to 4 as possible, drive a good hour north to get to school by 5:30 for my class. Then when that is over I have to drive 40 minutes south to get home and go to my online class for an hour. Mondays are really going to stink for me.
Please send calming pixie dust. I feel sick to my stomach. :scared:

I always enjoyed the books from Oprah's Book Club. But the old book club..not the stuff from the last two years. If you go to her website they list them all back to the late 90's.
I also read the Lovely Bones (Peter Jackson is doing the movie!!) and it was outstanding!

Shannon calming :pixiedust: ! You must be so close to finishing!! Just go on the "one day at a time" philosphy!! Know what you can control - and :cool1: YOU start tomorrow!!
Gina The 5 people you meet in Heaven might be a good choice - The PoisonWood Bible gets a lot of "best books" from people (its a much thicker book - Oprah was talking about it, it may have been one of her early book club picks, but I was amazed at how many people had that on their lists - I wasnt crazy about it - A missionary took his family to live in Africa... The Secret Life of Bees is supposed to be good (I have it in my "tbr - to be read" pile... One book I read from the "Radio Readers club Was THE OUTSIDE WORLD by Tova Mirvis - This gave an insight to the Jewish life - from a woman's perspective - note how the story starts and how its told thru 'holidays' and what holiday it ends with - it was very symbolical in that regard - try this link http://wgnradio.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=66&Itemid=223
The cool thing on their radio readers is they then interview the authors - and you can hear that still from that link!! Hah - they did do Secret Life of Bees - its on Page 2!! Their books are always paperback books and never to heavy! You can usually get them used at Amazon.com as well!!
Every book club has set its own purpose, is it strictly social, is it more in depth? You get to decide!!
Have fun!!
We went to see No Reservations - it was a fine PG movie - I liked it, dd liked it!! They could've made more of a heart tug, but they didnt!! It was a good movie and probably will be shown on TV over and over (Its PG) one of these days!!

I think a queen would be fine on a full bed. It will just hang a little longer off the sides and front. I know I've seen a couple comforters that are only in queen (my bed is a full) and my mom thought it would be fine.
Not sure of websites, but TJMaxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods always have lots of bedding. Of course, Linen N Things and Bed, Bath and Beyond always have cute things but the prices aren't always so cute. I got my current comforter set at JCPenney through the catalog. Not the best quality but now that its worn in, its soft and comfy. And it was pretty cheap.

I would probably lean twds. full size. We have a full size bed and one set of sheets are full/queen and then come off the corners at night sometimes. Very annoying. My favorite place to get comforters and sheets is The Company Store. Can be $$ but great quality. They also have great sales!!!!

Life happened this week. No weight loss. Thursday afternoon, DH and I went to a party, and we were planning to go to the gym afterwards. 20 minutes into the party DH gets a phone call. It was my mom's caregiver.
My mother was taken to the hospital in an ambulance Thursday afternoon. It turns out that the sinus infection either triggered or masked my mother's third stroke. The first two led to paralysis on her left side. This one has damaged her ability to think. This is a woman who, 1 week ago, was able to watch Jeopardy and answer 90% of the questions correctly. Now she can barely name her 6 children.
DH and I stayed with her until she got checked into the hospital at 1:30 Friday morning. I slept for a few hours, went to work to set up our classes, then went back to the hospital (thank God DH went back to the hospital that morning to be with Mom. He kept her company and even spoon-fed her. I LOVE that man). My sister came to the hospital so that DH and I could head off to lead a retreat for the weekend. We got home at 3:45 this afternoon, we dumped the suitcases from car, and I headed back to the hospital to relieve my sister. Around 8 my mom was sleepy, so I came home. Tomorrow I go back into work, then back to see my mom.
My eating this weekend was one big pity party. I did go for a walk this morning so I could talk to God alone. I saw a beautiful eagle, a flock of wild turkeys, and a mother deer and 2 fawns. It felt like the calm in the middle of the storm.
Tomorrow I will try to do better on the eating. A big part of my mother's health problems come from her weight and eating habits. I do not want to go through what she is going through, nor do I want my kids to have to go through what my siblings and I are going through.
Have a great Monday, and remember, WWPD?

HAVE A GOOD DAY!!!
Hi All,
I am very sorry for those that need my prayers. Know that I am praying and sending support.. However, going thru everything I am going thru- I apologize I can not be as supportive as I once was. I mean.. I cant comment on every single incident. It not that I dont care.. But, unfortunately I am still grieving as well. Cant take care of others till we take care of ourselves.
The good new is I start counseling again today. Hopefully, this one will be better.
I do feel so fortunate once again that I have this group of supportive people. You all are a very awesome group of people.
Love to all,
Bee

I don't know much at the movie..just that he is doing it. I heard one of the many reasons he passed on making the Hobbit was b/c he was already committed to this one!
i googled it and found out that ryan gosling is playing the dad, rachel wiess the mom, stanley tucci the killer (which surprises me....i can't see him in that role) and some irish actress i've never heard of is playing the main character, the little girl and they start shooting in october. i e-mailed my sister and told her about this because she's the one that recommended i read the book. this was her reaction: oh my gosh....i might cry right now. a) ryan gosling, a/k/a love of my imaginary life, is in it? YES! b) peter jackson, of lord of the rings, is directing so it's probably going to be amazing. c) ryan gosling is in it! thanks for letting me know!

my two favorites books that i've read recently are "the lovely bones" by alice sebold, and "the five people you meet in heaven" by mitch albom. both are sort of about what happens after you die....different interpretations of heaven and sort of reflecting on your life, so it's not light subject matter, but VERY GOOD stories!
I always enjoyed the books from Oprah's Book Club. But the old book club..not the stuff from the last two years. If you go to her website they list them all back to the late 90's.
I also read the Lovely Bones (Peter Jackson is doing the movie!!) and it was outstanding!
[QUOTE=eeyore45;20376696]Shannon
Have fun!!
QUOTE]
Thanks so much everyone for the wonderful book club suggestions!
I have read Lovely Bones and 5 people you meet in heaven..both excellent! I started "secret life of bees" a few years ago, but for some reason never finished it..Would it be cheating to suggest that one, since i already own it ? haha I will certainly check out the old school Oprah book lists..:goodvibes

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO behind... I hope everyone hasn't forgotten about me! I def have all the sad and frustrated and worried peeps in my thoughts! So keep your chins up!
I am having a bit of a frustrating time myself. My boyfriend and I returned from WDW to find out that his landlord was selling the house they live in so he has about 6 weeks to move out. Well, we decided it was time to move into together so we began apartment hunting for 1 BR apartments that would take a 45 lb dog. Why is it so hard? They all let you take children no matter what the weight? My dog is like my baby! It is so annoying. And emotional. And it makes me cry just to think I might have to give my Liam boy away! I don't even know what to do. I have tried tons of internet searches and called a million ads and its all the same-- some 25 lbs only... some 35 lbs only... we found one we really really liked but they also have wieght limit that the landlord is trying to get the complex to make an exception for us on but who knows. Its already 11:40 and we haven't heard anything.
Anyways, as far as weight loss goes, its been the last thing on my mind. I will get on track over the next couple weeks for sure. I just need to get over the apartment hurdle and know that me, Rob, and Liam can be a happy little family somwhere! Also, its frustrating that the prices in our area are so high right now. I just feel emotionally drained about the whole situation. We just need a little magic!
In any case, I can't remember the last time I posted but I am too far behind to catch up-- Wonders, hows the situation with A. been the last month? Punkin, the video link is hysterical! Linda, your picture tips worked great for us... we got great Spectro, Wishes, and Fantasmic pics on our trip thanks to your tips! And everyone else who needs it :grouphug: :cheer2:  !

Before we bought our house we had to stay out of apt. complexes and rent from people that owned houses. It was the only way we could have 3 dogs. We even had to rent from a slumlord for a year but it was worth it to keep our dogs. I just checked the paper. :goodvibes

Fidge Thinking of you!! I cant believe I couldnt wake up! (actually I'm still in my jammies!) DD is 'sleeping' in our bed while dh is away (he comes home late tonight, he's only slept a few hours total!! The darn rain and thunder and he's in a teeny tiny sleeping tent!) Last night every time I tried to turn off the tv, she'd sit up and beg me to turn it back on! :sad2: So I probably was up for 20 min of every hour - finally around 5am I gave up went downstairs and fell asleep on the couch! Made breakfast around 11 and thought I'd better make her get up around 11:30!
This is no way to start school! She also informed me she is in NO WAY going to Disney in Sept - she is going to run for Student Council... I've been dropping hints, with no specific time involved... :rolleyes1 I wonder if I can drug her, drag her onto a plane w/o her knowledge?? I'm sure I can pack her stuff! I plan on mailing a package to ourselves at Pop anyway... :rolleyes1 This is so not going to be easy!!

We went with rental homes too for that reason. You get some good ones and then there are some bad ones, really bad ones......... :sad2: I posted a few mos ago that my DSis was looking for a place and she found a very cute little (tiny, under 1000 sq ft) place in the paper. It is in a house in a historical district but it's completely restored and is in a really nice area. There are a lot of homes that have been split into multi family living and some that are single family. She is paying less than any apartment that we found and doesn't have to worry about her dogs. There is a communal washer and dryer and she doesn't have to put quarters in it. She is very happy with her place.
Good luck house/apartment hunting! I know it sucks some days!
I got a job!!!!!! I got the call just over an hour ago!! I am so excited and happy! I was given the option of starting tomorrow but I had some plans for this week so I am going to start on Mon! I am so happy. I get a nice benefit package and more than 200 hrs of PTO every year. (It gets credited half at a time for the next 6 mos to use anyway I want but lose it if it's not used.) The pay isn't quite as much as I was making before but I can get insurance for my entire family for less than my personal policy at my last job! Oh happy day!:woohoo: :cheer2: :woohoo:

Happy Monday.
Well I got the nerve to step on the scale to see the damage. What's left after having the baby and all, I have to lose about 20 pounds to get where I left off. It was nice to see a 25 pound loss from right before I delivered though. Does that make me a BIG LOSER?:rotfl:
Anyways, after giving much thanks in Church yesterday I sent all I could to all my peeps.
I'm just concentrating on eating wholesome meals with little snacking. If I have to have a snack trust me its healthy. I am nursing so I have a little one to think about.
Nursing with this one is very different. My milk came in slowly. Not outta nowwhere like with my last three. I never got engorged and I never leak. I am not complaining, it's just different.
We seem to be giving lots of supplements too. She can be showing all the signs of rooting less than an hour after nursing, so I am not sure if I am satisfying her completely. My breasts used to tell me when it was time to nurse, now it's the baby. I can't pump yet to increase my supply cause I'm just too dang sore.
Just looking for some suggestions or reassurances. If anyone has had experience here, I'd appreciate your thoughts.
Have an awesome week everyone!

Wow I finally caught up!
have fun at the outer banks!!!
i'd be interested to go there except i think i have too many weird impressions of that place. i had a 2-day deposition in a divorce case once where the wife was adopted as an infant, met her birth parents in her 30's, went on a vacation to the outer banks with her dad and his family a few years later and ended up SLEEPING with him!!!!!!!.....:crazy2: i wish they had a vomiting smilie because that's the only one that's appropriate. hopefully none of you just lost your breakfast. just......EWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, nasty. Outer Banks is really nice though. It is about a 4 hour drive from here.
OK - - WHAT happened ?? It is so COLD!!! Wasnt it just last week it was so hot we couldnt breath??? Well talk about opposites!! Its freezing here - and the sun is gone!!
wacky weather!
Mom just called and told us not to come - nothing to do at the lake when its cold and rainy!
Guess we'll go to the movies!!
Not cold here! 101 today.

I am looking so forward to the instant weightloss when little one is born. As of now I have gained about 22 punds will find out for sure onThurs. I am hoping to nurse as well, but dried up very early on after Joshua. My milk did the same thing that you are talking about. When we went back for our 2 wk checkup he had not gained back to his birth weight. I tried pumping and measuring to make sure he was getting enough and I just could not produce enough for him. He was hungry all the time. Sorry this is not the news you were looking for--but everyone is different. I will try it again this time as well and see how it goes.

Hi everyone,
I haven't been online much the past couple days. Two of our really good friends were in an airplane accident & died.
I weighed in this morning & have lost 3 pounds this past week. I guess that is the good news. I'm sure it is mostly related to the stress we've been going through the past few days.
Hope everyone else is having a great week. I think we have 31 days until we go on our trip. I'm super excited about that, can't believe how close it is. I received all of my information in the mail yesterday from Disney & got my luggage tags. It was kind of exciting because it made the trip seem so much more real.

Becky posted about this on the other thread - 2 men and one son in Alaska - they made camp and the son stayed behind while the 2 men scouted for hunting (I hope I'm remembering correctly Becky) apparently there was a problem as the son waited 3 days for his dad and friend to return... they crashed... so sad!
Congrats MHL - so glad you got the job!! :thumbsup2
I drove to Angola IN -
