Okay, I must admit it was kinda funny to think about the UK celebrating Thanksgiving, when the American Thanksgiving is all about the pilgrims fleeing England and all that :lmao:

Anyhow, that is not what Canadian Thanksgiving is about ...... it's a celebration of harvest time, really -- a celebration of autumn. Giving thanks for the bounty of food, the abundance of love in our families, etc etc.

Okay, it's really all about having a big ol' turkey dinner with all the trimmings and oodles of desserts too! :lmao:

:rotfl2:

Canadian Thanksgiving and US Thanksgiving sound simliar. Celebrating the harvest and all that (again, makes sense since I assume the harvest is earlier in Canada with the weather changing sooner and what not). Not really a celebration of "fleeing England", that's more in July. Thanksgiving is almost a rememberance of the last supper with the indians before the pilgrims killed them and took their land. I believe this is why football is the official sport of the day. Food and then "epic battle".:rotfl:

The only thing I’ve heard people caution against is that you may not receive your luggage before dinner (though I always have). I believe one other person mentioned that their bags had been delivered to the wrong room do to a last minute switch at the terminal but that got sorted out.

Though you’re not flying it’s good for anyone who is to make sure that they arrive at the airport with plenty of time to spare. It’s not only to provide you with enough time to make your flight but also to provide enough time for your luggage to make the trip.

It’s kind of funny to hear about a Navy reunion in Pittsburgh. I realize the city is located on a couple of rivers but I can’t imagine it’s a big “Navy” town. :) They should be coming to you in Jersey. :)

The only thing I’ve heard people caution against is that you may not receive your luggage before dinner (though I always have).

Our tablemates last year didn't get their luggage until after dinner. They had a stateroom on Deck one, so perhaps they start delivering the luggage from the top and sometimes it takes them a while to work their way down????

recieved this e mail today
BORN BEFORE 1986?

According to today's regulators and bureaucrats, those of us who were
kids in the 60's, 70's and early 80's probably shouldn't have survived,
because our baby cots were covered with brightly coloured lead-based
paint which was promptly chewed and licked.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, or latches on doors or
cabinets and it was fine to play with pans.
When we rode our bikes, we wore no helmets, just flip-flops and
fluorescent 'spokey dokey's' on our wheels.

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or airbags and
riding in the passenger seat was a treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle and it tasted
the same.
We ate chips, bread and butter pudding and drank fizzy juice with sugar
in it, but we were never overweight because we were always outside
playing.

We shared one drink with four friends, from one bottle or can and no-one
actually died from this.
We would spend hours building go-carts out of scraps and then went top
speed down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After
running into stinging nettles a few times, we learned to solve the
problem.

We would leave home in the morning and could play all day, as long as we
were back before it got dark. No one was able to reach us and no one
minded.

We did not have Play stations or X-Boxes, no video games at all. No 99
channels on TV, no videotape movies, no surround sound, no mobile
phones, no personal computers, no DVDs, no Internet chat rooms.

We had friends - we went outside and found them. We played elastics and
rounders, and sometimes that ball really hurt!&n bsp; We fell out of
trees, got cut, and broke bones but there were no law suits. We had full
on fist fights but no prosecution followed from other parents.

We played knock-the-door-run-away and were actually afraid of the owners
catching us.
We walked to friends' homes.
We also, believe it or not, WALKED to school; we didn't rely on mummy or
daddy to drive us to school, which was just round the corner.

We made up games with sticks and tennis balls. We rode bikes in packs
of 7 and wore our coats by only the hood. The idea of a parent bailing
us out if we broke a law was unheard of...they actually sided with the
law.

This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers and problem
solvers and inventors, ever. The past 50 years have been an explosion
of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how
to deal with it all. And you're one of them. Congratulations!

Pass this on to others who have had the luck to grow as real kids,
before lawyers and government regulated our lives, for our own good. For
those of you who aren't old enough, thought you might like to read about
us.

This my friends, is surprisingly frightening......and it might put a
smile on your face:

The majority of students in universities today were born in
1986........they are called youth. They have never heard of We are the
World, We are the children, and the Uptown Girl they know is by Westlife
not Billy Joel. They have never heard of Rick Astley, Bananarama, Nena
Cherry or Belinda Carlisle.

For them, there has always been only one Germany and one Vietnam.
AIDS has existed since they were born.
CD's have existed since they were born.
Michael Jackson has always been white.
To them John Travolta has always been round in shape and they can't
imagine how this fat guy could be a god of dance.
They believe that Charlie's Angels and Mission Impossible are films from
last year.
They can never imagine life before computers.
They'll never have pretended to be the A-Team, the Dukes of Hazard or
the Famous Five.
They can't believe a black and white television ever existed. And they
will never understand how we could leave the house without a mobile
phone. Now let's check if we're getting old...

1. You understand what was written above and you smile.
2. You need to sleep more, usually until the afternoon, after a
Night out.
3. Your friends are getting married/already married
4. You are always surprised to see small children playing
comfortably with computers.
5. When you see children with mobile phones, you shake your head.

Having read this mail, you are thinking of forwarding it to some
Other friends because you think they will like it too... Yes, you're
Getting old!!

Early greetings are good! :) Thanks in advance!!

As far as the "who is RAC" ....... when you go to page one of this discussion and click on the poster's name, you can do a search and see their postings -- that would tell us when they last posted anywhere on the DISboards. UNFORTUNATELY, the darn search engine never works for me, but if someone else has success with it, perhaps they could give it a try? I'm curious too......

Depending on how I look at it, here's one month from now:

Wednesday of cruise week: As of this time, Chris and I will both officially be done with work and on vacation. -or-

10/26 exactly: Probably just now finishing dinner at Boma. Hoping to try the much-talked about zebra domes.

We have multiple countdowns. Anything to make it seem that much closer.

Thanks for all the comments about my grandparent's lecture day. Looking forward to it. From there: to the cottage in the Finger Lakes. Seneca Farms ice cream shop should have some special fall harvest flavors (hot apple sundaes, apple-cinnamon pie ice cream, etc). They always try to get local ingredients from the farms and orchards. Must also have my last corn fritters of the season, with local maple syrup on them, of course. :cloud9:

Ok, time for some housework.

It was crazy, the CM was so relieved that I wanted a cruise other then the transatlantic. So, my post is from the first day. You won't be saying no until you get into the gift shop... I don't remember seeing anything of that nature anywhere else on the ship!

Hi all! I just wanted to introduce myself since my family and I will be with you all cruising around the moon. Cruising will be my DD (6) and my DS (4 turns 5 on oct 30) and myself in one stateroom; my parents and my brother (19) in another stateroom, and my aunt, uncle and cousin in another stateroom. We are really excited about the cruise. We booked cat 12 gty in July and got our stateroom assignments a couple of days ago. We were upgraded to deck 2 side by side mid ship cat 10's, so we are pleased! It will be fun to discuss our cruise excitement together!!:cool1:

There are probably some goodies and fun things at the gift shops. I plan to peruse their wares! :)

I give my son $5 per week as an allowance. Out of that he buys the things he wants (video games, harry potter stuff, etc)..even if he has to save up for it. He is much more discerning this way. Before he would want everything...then when I started the allowance and said he had to pay for it...well..he didn't want that "thing" so much anymore.

On vacations I set a dollar amount that he can use for purchases (an extra $$ from me) so he can buy whatever he fancies. Plus he can bring his allowance money should he choose to do so.

Maybe this would work for you????:confused3

I am sure i will do soemthing like that, not sure what yet Dh and i have not discussed it..........BUT i just hate those things, yes hate is a strong word..............but i do i do despise that junk stuff...........

I dont even want them to get that stuff with their money.

We have spinny things that of course are not touched any more form several trips to WDW, and i just cant stand to see them laying around unused!!!!

I guess i willhave to coem up with a plan on money spending for the kids very soon!!!!!!!!!

We'll be joining you! Just booked today - sooo last minute, but got a great deal - couldn't resist. This is our 1st cruise. Cruising will be me, my DH, DS(7) and DS(6). We have no reservations for anything, so we'll just wing it! I just have a few questions for now - please help:
What night is formal night?
What night is pirate night?
I heard there was a separate trick or treat for the DISers? Do I need to bring treats?
Can you really bring in a soft sided cooler filled with beer, wine, etc.. as long as there is no ice?
I only have a month to plan and am soooo stressed :)

I will also be sailing with you guys. I have a couple questions, what info is there on Halloween activities put on by the ship. Is there a T or T scheduled? Are there costume contests? How about wearing our costumes to dinner?

By the way I will be joined by me wife and our son (10).

we actually will be bringing our Disney spinny things with us!
I scored two of them for $1.99 each 4+ years ago!!! and they actually still work and take $1 store AA batteries.... call me cheap, but I will force my kids to reuse the ones we have! I also bring disney stickers, coloring books, etc for the drive down and back all from the $1 store and dis store clearance! I even bring our mickey, minnie, etc stuffed animals from home! call me frugal

Since we have so many new folks (not to mention for everyone else's sanity), I thought it might be helpful to post the events for the cruise in one location. PJ had started something in her profile and I'll add this there as well.

For those new folks, pjpoohbear's public profile has become one stop shop for details regarding events on board. As you may have noticed, this is a chatty group so sometimes the who, where, when gets a little hard to follow. You can view a public profile by clicking on someone's username and selecting "View Public Profile".

You'll note that some times and location are missing. If you have the missing information, or notice something is incorrect, please let me know so that I can update it.:upsidedow

Here's what I have:

Can I copy and paste this to the discussion in my profile, that way others can see it when this post slides out of sight?

Ps, the PJ breakfast is not set, yet. Is it something that people really want to do, or it can just be a breakfast meet, Pj's not required.

I have never had breakfast in a dinning room except for the last day and that has always been rushed and so very sad, thought it might be interesting to have a happy breakfast there.

I think we have decided to SKIP the dinner in the dining, perhaps have something brought in from room service while we get ready and paint our faces etc.........
Then head up early to the PARTY AREA!!!!!!!!:cool1:

What are soem ideas others might have about this evening?

And are we going to miss much, if we DO NOT go to the dining room on Pirates Night?

I guess what we dont know about wont hurt us any way!!!!!:confused3

And are we going to miss much, if we DO NOT go to the dining room on Pirates Night?

I guess what we dont know about wont hurt us any way!!!!!:confused3

I have gone back and forth about this since we are on 2nd dining. I'm thinking we'll have dinner in the dining room as a lot of people are dressed up, you get bandanas, and they do some fun stuff in the dining room. Hopefully we can get our meals quickly and just skip dessert and then head up to the deck. pirate:

Alternative two---eat at the buffet..get a place to sit for the deck party.
Alternative three--get room service

Has anyone thought of saving an area for a group of us at the deck party?

My DD is 10 as well. She has never expressed any interest in shaving yet. I am hoping she doesn't for a couple of more years. Mind you, she is a bit of a tom boy. My DD5 on the other hand is already asking for make up, etc. Very girly girl. :cutie:

I am so glad I don't have to wonder about all these issues........shaving legs, etc. My co-worker said her daughter who just turned 12 shaved hers for the first time last week without even asking.

Pirate night.....we have 2nd seating too & had 2nd seating on our 4 night & were able to make it to the party ok, but we didn't want to be down in the crowd either......we watched from deck 10. I want to have dinner in the dining room as it is a special Pirate night menu.

ANYONE ELSE GOING TO HAVE A FISH EXTENDER????????

So glad's it Friday...........28 days from tonight we will be partying with Mickey at the Halloween Party. :woohoo:

Please let your daughter shave. My mother resisted for a while and it was torture. My mom is like a seal woman so I just don't think she "got it". Unfortunately, I am quite the opposite. It was so embarrassing. My mom didn't let me start shaving until summer in 7th grade. At that point she and my aunt decided that I should have my legs waxed before I ever started shaving. :scared1: Either way, I was just glad that I didn't feel like big foot anymore.

PS. I have alway hated shaving and was terrible at keeping up at it but at least I was able to shave if I was going to be wearing shorts or a skirt.

PPS. I was definitley never a girly girl (heck, I still don't bother with makeup with the exception of special occassions or being bored), just didn't want to feel embarassed.

PPPS. Didn't have a boyfriend until HS so it's not like that was the reason either.

Sorry for all TMI. Just want the moms to understand what their daughter might be going threw. If I'm bless with a daughter I'll probably let her start shaving as soon as she expresses a definite interest just becuase of my own "tramatic" middle school experience.

I will have some Fish Extenders all made up and ready for action :lmao: at our get-together by the Goofy Pool before we sail-away. Right now, I have pirate fabric and fabric with fish and other underwater creatures on it, and I will look for some Disney fabric too, so that I have a better choice to offer you guys.

As far as what you "gift" into a Fish Extender, it's really anything you want to give that's not overly big or heavy. Last year, I found little bags of candy, pencils with pirate skull-and-crossbones on them, little rubber duckies wearing pirate bandannas, Disney magnets (some clever person bought Mickey shaped buttons and glued a magnet to the back, they were really cute), even Disney stickers or pirate stickers. Some gifts had no indication who had left them, while some had little tags with the person's DISBoard name.

It was sooooo much fun! I can't wait to do it again this year :)

Disney does a trick or treat for the kids on Halloween & then an adult costume contest. There are several of us dressing up. We are.

Also, lots of us dressing up for pirate night too.

I just found out about a week ago that I will be going on first cruise ever. This one!

I'm very excited and have spent the past week buying and reading all of the DCL books, and have to say I am a bit overwhelmed by everything, but really looking forward to it.

I obviously don't have time to go back and read the 7000+ posts in this thread, but wanted to drop in and say hello and maybe I'll run into some of you onboard.

It wasn't Kimberly Williams. I just don't know the name of the actress but I've seen her on quite a few different shows.

Did you like the show? I was disappointed in the first 1/2 but I liked the ending w/ the lady in the dept store. A real tear jerker! :sad1:

Warm greetings to my fellow cruisers. My friends and I (3 couples for a total of 6 of us) booked this cruise a couple of weeks ago and we are sooo excited to be joining the fun!

My husband and I went on a 3-Day a few weeks before Christmas in 2005 and it was so cool to see the Wonder all decorated. :santa:

We went on a cruise this past February for our anniversary and got to see it decorated for Valentine's Day.

It was also Pirate Night so we had some Valentine pirates pirate: .

Does anyone have any recommendations or shore excursions to avoid on this cruise? It is our 1st Eastern. Obviously, I would never be able to catch up on meeting everyone on the thread, but I did want to drop in and say hello every now and again before we set sail.

Oh and one other question...why is October 27 not here yet?????

:yay:

Good Morning Moonies! I was busy this weekend tending to things that have been neglected around the house. Some yard work, repairing our wooden fence, etc. I can't believe this is the month we cruise! WOOHOO!!!!!:cool1:  :woohoo:

I'm going to make a list at work today (who can work now, right Simon?;) ) of the things I need to get. I pretty much have everything from my last cruise. I bought Ethan some more sunscreen yesterday. That's really the ony purchase I've made so far.

I have some dumb questions I thought of. Y'all have probably discussed them a thousand times, but I don't remember. Here it goes:

We only have one formal night, right?

Are we trick or treating on Monday night or Halloween?

Can the kids eat in the club if they so choose?

Can we go yet?:lmao: pirate:

:welcome: To all the new folks joining us. We are a fun bunch!

I was checking to see if I got upgraded (no such luck yet) and realized I booked on July 15, 2006. It's been a fun year but it's also gone by faster than I thought it would. Maybe because I had the "other" cruise thrown in there for good measurepirate: .

I'll check in later. Gotta wake the whelp!

Hi Everyone!

What the heck is a fish extender?

Hi and welcome aboard!

A "fish extender" looks a lot like a locker organizer. Outside of each stateroom door there is a metal fish, on a hinge, and this hangs over the fish. It's a DISBoard thing. Folks like me will have a little gift (like a secret santa kind of idea, although you can definitely put a tag on your gift to identify yourself if you wish) to tuck into the pockets of every fish extender we see! :)

Last year I received some neat gifts -- pirate pencils, bags of candy, little rubber duckies wearing pirate bandannas, Disney magnets, stuff like that. It was always a treat to return to our stateroom and see a little bulge and know we had a gift! :)

This was all new to me last year too. Here is a photograph of my poor, undecorated :lmao: fish extender from my cruise last year (photo below). The red and the white rectangles of fabric are all pockets. My girlfriend and I meant to bring some Disney stickers to decorate it up, but we forgot.......

This year, I am sewing up some fish extenders and will have them on our cruise for a small price, just to cover my costs. I will have them at our group's initial get-together (Goofy Pool, about 3 pm on the day we embark). I am also in stateroom #2052 if you want to come knocking :) , looking for one. Just let me know with a PM or a post here if you want one. Right now I have pirate fabric and fish/underwater creatures fabric, but I hope to find some appropriate Disney fabric too ;)

Back from NY. The last trip of the year to the Finger Lakes. The pediatric talk was interesting. As I thought might happen, they often pointed out/referred to the family that was there. Largest attendance yet: 68! Lots of nurses, a doctor or 2, us, one of my uncles. Helped Mom and Dad start to put things away at the Lake for the winter over the weekend. Got the Sunfish (a small sailboat) into the front porch before we left Sunday. Piles of mail when we got home. But the frequent airport parking card arrived.
Got some landscaping done today: pull out some dead hollies, replace with burning bushes, add spruces to the back northwest corner to help block the winter winds.
OK, now its crunch time. I see our nightly discussions centering around, "so, what did you do to prepare for the cruise today?" :lmao:

Mom has cataract surgery tomorrow, think happy thoughts.

I am looking at booking a 4 night for next November 2008 while on board... (once I convince DH!)
do you think the 4 night is worth it over the 3 night? I am just thinking 3 nights won't be enough for me =-)... BUT the 3 night leaving on Thanksgiving Day actually is really great price wise! So 4 nights the first week of Nov or 3 nights Turkey Day week.... ahhh the dilemmas =-).
I am thinking of combining it with 2 or 3 days at the parks next time and am still trying for the kids to not miss more than 3 days of school

TIA!

In April of 2006, Noah and I did 5 nights in the parks, the 4 night cruise and then 3 more nights in the parks after the cruise. To me, the 3 day would be soooo short and you miss the day at sea. Even though you aren't going very fast - you miss doing fun things on the ship because you are always "somewhere" - Nassau or Castaway Cay! However, if the price was hugely different - then that would make the decision for me. I just think you would feel like getting on, running and getting off. Does that make sense?

I am looking into soem shorter ones as well, but it will all depend on the prices.........I have come to the conclusion that i dont care if the kids miss school, i just want the most bang for our buck next time around. We will definitley NOT be getting a verandah!

Kimmielee what an awesome staff you have......:thumbsup2

Don't think I will get to rebook this time.....but I did in Dec which is why I get to cruise with you guys this time. :dance3:

What I did for the cruise today.........
Updated & checked off a few things on my to do list that I had already done.
Ordered our Disney Visa rewards card & transferred our points over.
Looked over packing list & updated it.
I think that's it.

I am having issues with my Mary Poppins umbrella. Anyone know if you can carry a big old umbrella on the plane? I can't pack the darn thing....none of our suitcases are big enough to fit it even diagonally. I could put it in garment bag with the hang up clothes....if they don't make you fold that thing over. Anyone know or have any ideas? It is 38 inches tall.......and I have to have it for my costume to be authentic...I mean what is Mary without her umbrella. :lmao:

Welcome to all of the Newbies!!! Glad to have you aboard

Happy Birthday Kimmie, sorry I missed it.

We had a wonderful time in Daytona, although the wind whipped to up to 40mph, and their was NO beach on Sunday, due to the storms. The water was splashing over the sea wall.

I am going to begin to write out the T and T info I have, and then I will post it up to get your ideas, and comments before finalizing, if you signed up to help I will be pm'ing you this week:)

Just got back and unpacked from a quick weekend at Disneyland. This was the grown-up weekend for my DH and I to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary without the kids. Our actual anniversary is 10/23, we will be celebrating it on the ship on Sunday - formal night. But we just needed to get away for a little private time (if you know what I mean :rolleyes1 - 204 square feet shared with your children doesn't give any privacy!).

We stayed at the Grand California Hotel - just love it - but we had fire alarms go off at 6:30 in morning on Sunday and had to evacuate - after a night of champagne and before coffee - didn't look too good, but then no one else did either. We never heard exactly what went on - but the fire department did bring in big fans to air out.

I loved unpacking tonight - throw it in the wash and back in the suitcase in ancitpation of the cruise!!!!!

CAN WE GO YET?pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate:

Good Morning Moonies! It's really going to happen, isn't it? We are really going to finally meet on the cruise!:cool1: I'm so ready to surprise Ethan! I know he'll probably just shrug his shoulders and grin when we tell him, but I don't care. I'm hoping he'll at least scream or something, but my child is so laid back, we shall see.

I tried on my bathing suits from July and they still fit:banana: That's always nice especially since they're not selling them around here anymore. I need to try on my formal dress and see what's going on there.

Still no upgrade yet. Don't get me wrong, I'm satisfied with my Oceanview, but a gal can hope for a balcony!

Who all is going to meet with us at MNSSHP? I can't remember.pirate:

working on getting ready this morning.........

i have so many lists..but i dont have a list of lists

I have a chart for what each person will wear each day, for during the day and dinner.....although not totally completed it is about 80% filled in.
If we have the item it is in black if it is packed it is in black bold, and if it still has to be purchased or sewn it is in red.

I also have a CARRY ON LIST!

A document LIST!

A LIST of stuff to be packed that is not on the chart.

And i have started a LIST for what is in each bag..........I think i will laminate them and hang them on the outside of each bag.

WHAT LIST DO YOU HAVE GOING?????

T and T Ideas

A scavenger hunt. Meet in the atrium and have those who agreed to "help" "hide" in various locations throughout the ship collecting puzzle pieces or goodies from each person. The hunt will conclude at diversions where the teams will have to put together their puzzles to find out the true location on their treasure. ( it will be in the room, just hidden) what do you think. We can have teams, and since Kimmie is purchasing goodies we can just either bring our own goodie bags to add or just trinkets and such to be divided among those who participate. We would have time while the kiddo's were searching to combine all the treats. Let me know what you think. I hope I described it well, it was hard to explain on paper LOL, but it sounds fun in my little brain LOL, I did the puzzle hunt with my DH and it was a blast OOOHH, maybe we could have one large puzzle and have the teams work together to put it together....I like that idea...well what do you think???

I think I understand it...would this be like "The Amazing Race" where each team gets an "envelope"...reads instructions and goes to find the next clue until they reach their destination. Cool! :cool2:

YES, they would collect a puzzle piece and another clue, then once they are lead to diversions ALL the teams will work together to put the puzzle together and locate the TREASURE!!

Would it be better to give them treats at each location or have a giant treasure chest w/ a big gift bag for each of them???

I have bought treats and goodies I will put into a little halloween goodie bag. I believe I should have at least 30 of them. pirate:

I think either way would be fine, I really think it depends on whether everyone is making individual goodie bags or just bringing treats?? We could even do both, as they could recieve small treats along the way and then recieve a "SPECIAL" treat at the end??
It's up for discussion, and then we can make an executive decision and start organizing:thumbsup2 :goodvibes

everything sounds wonderful!

we have bought random treats, from candy to pencils, to halloweenish stuff, I have not bought "treat bags" as I thought someone had volunteered those so I just bought things that could go in them... I also have some stuff that is "boy", some stuff that is "girl" and some stuff that is younger kids (pooh, etc) vs older (pirates)...

I need to pull out "the box" and go through it all =-).... with fewer kids actually signed up I might.... oh now... have too much :rotfl:

Now I just have to determine with my dd is going to wear for her halloween party at school the day we leave!!! ugh I am not tempting fate and letting her wear her costume which will, well be packed! she will go to school from 9-12 and then we are off for FL that Friday. DS will miss his party as it is at 2:30pm that day, but I think he will survive... store bought rice crispie treats or Dis Cruise.... hmm?

Can we go yet???

I have the day off tomorrow so I just might start packing or at least cleaning up "the lists", I think because of princess dresses, etc we might have to bring 2 garment bags this trip! Oh the joys of having a princess.

have a good night everyone I am off to our neighborhood association mtg *yawn*

Kimmie is purchasing goodies I'm purchasing the Halloween T&T bags... they are large enough to fit smaller treat bags inside as well as more candy, books, stickers, etc... I am going to order 35 just in case we have a few late sign ups. That should be enough eh?

I'm also shipping candy ahead for a "treat".

And so it begins:
DW has been plotting out what outfits she'll be wearing to all the dinners and Palo brunch. Both of us started moving outfits to the designated area tonight. I've already set aside about half the items on my list (the easy stuff). I'm sure DW will be helping me pick out the rest quite soon. The cruise box was ceremonially transferred to the staging area. Started setting aside the meds for the cruise. DW is now making a list of things we still need to buy. Next fitting with the seamstress is Thursday.

As if we didn't have enough to do, DW got a job offer today. She's been waiting to hear from them for over 4 weeks. We'd both written off this opportunity. Now she has 48 hours to decide to take it or not. Its a great opportunity (work at home), but it is hard to leave where she is. Her customers and co-workers really like her.

Thanks to all for the wishes. Mom came through the surgery with "flying colors". They did the worse eye today. The other one is to be scheduled.

time for bed,

WOOO HOOOOOOO!!!

I'm SO excited.

When I was booking this cruise, I had to wait until I got my vacation approved. When it finally got approved, there were no more Verandah rooms available to me. So I took an Outside, and was very happy with that.

But a verandah room became available, and I jumped at it!!

Kimmie how do you pack????????

PLEASE come out of the corner...................someone help me!!!!!!!!

If you and your husband have 2 suitcases together..pack 1/2 of your stuff in 1 and 1/2 of your husbands in one..then the other 1/2 of both of yours in the other. Match up type of clothes (dress clothes, casual clothes). That way if you lose one piece (like your formal wear)..you don't have to worry that 1 person will be dressed up and the other is not.

Packing 1/2 of the stuff includes underwear, socks, etc. Hygiene items can just go in 1 suitcase and then put certain things in carryon (3 oz limits).

In carry-on...put an outfit including socks, underwear. I usually put a casual outfit (capris or shorts and then a shirt). Also put a swimsuit in there.

For kids (example..if you have 2 kids going)..split the kids clothes between their luggage as well.

Hope that helps.
