I had my first sewing class last night. Based on what we did last night and what she talked about us covering, I think I pretty much know everything already. For example, she mentioned that she didn't know if we would get to zippers because they are kind of advanced but I already know how to put in a zipper.

It's definitely good to get the practice though. Plus, she said we could bring in stuff that we'd like to do and work on it there if we want. I'm also taking the class with a friend from work and we were laughing at each other the whole time.

Hopefully, this will give me the confidence to sew some stuff before the cruise... like the shirt I've already dismantled. :rotfl:

For the school fund raisers... I just buy what I need but we don't go door to door, nor do I take it to work. Then I donate an extra $50. :thumbsup2

However, for the cub scouts - the Popcorn sale is supposed to teach the kids about the importance of raising money, marketing, etc... Yeah, that one I take to work and sell everything within a day!! :lmao: Bad Kimmie!! :rotfl2:

Awwww... Glad you are feeling better! Hopefully your DD will bounce back quickly and won't be hit as hard as you were.

Paula, how's E today? Back to school I hope? I'm dealing with Noah's WITCH of a teacher for this year. I had heard horrible things such as she's harder on boys, is very strict, etc... well, Noah's weekly progress reports last year were very good - with issues of talking or being the mother hen cropping up every now and then.

His first report from the WITCH - 8 opportunites of positive comments and 8 for negative. Noah got NO positive remarks and 6 out of 8 negatives. I am FLOORED!! How does a child fall so far off center so quickly????

I've asked for a meeting. The little girl that sits next to him was moved because they were talking too much. She got a glowing report - hmmmmm... apparently Noah was the instigator? I'm not saying he's perfect but where does this teacher get off by NOT throwing him a bone with at least ONE positive remark???? He's scared to death of her. How is that as a good learning environment??? Ok, rant over. Stay tuned.

I only take 1 fundraiser around to neighbors, etc...and that is the boy scout popcorn. Otherwise we do attend the school functions/fundraisers (carnival, ice cream social, etc). It does get to be too much/too many fundraisers especially if your kids are in sports, choir, etc.

Have a good day everyone!

There's a boy scout popcorn thing hanging up in the kitchen here at work. What a freaking rip off! How much of the money actually goes to the troup anyway?

It's kinda expensive..I know..wish it was more in line w/ what girl scout cookies cost. The boys get to keep the profit in their own "boy scout account" and can use it towards expenses for trips, etc. I'm not sure of the percentage though. We start sales soon so I'll have to check into it.

The popcorn is good though. popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn::

We are currently selling Innisbrook wrapping paper, we sell it every year..One good thing as that Faculty get everything 1/2 price and the second is that the Grandparents on both sides take it to work for DD so she makes out well and so does the school. I was a Girl Scout cookie mom oncE. I WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN LOL!!!

:grouphug: Hugs to all those who are still feeling icky:sick:

* Thank you to everyone who has pm'd me your info, I promise it is being updated, I don't have any extra time till tomorrow evening so I'll see how much I can get done then. I DID NOT include all of the DH's, Kiddo's, Relatives and Friends because their would just not be enough room. :goodvibes

* If you don't mind your room number being added to your name just send me a pm and I will add it. I will only post those who WANT it to be included. Except for those who have taken an active part in planning and have become "IN CHARGE" of a certain DIS event. If you want your stateroom number deleted please just let me know.:dance3:

Quite a bit actually! After the cost of the product, my son made about 45% of what he sold and it right into his cub scout account.

Judy and I would never buy anything for children's fundraising from parents at work. However, this did not stop us from looking at the catalogs and if the child called us (and we would give our home phone number to the parents) we would place an order with the child. We would allow the parent to collect the money from us and deliver the product, but the child had to make the sales call.

Same thing with neighbors, the child had to be doing the selling.

And to believe, I trekked all around my neighborhood alone selling oranges and grapefruit to raise money for our every other year marching band trips. My boy scout troop sold Christmas trees.

DC100- DW already said it, but I want to offer my thanks and stand in awe of that calendar. :worship: In a hour? It would take me days. :confused3 :badpc: I guess I just keep to the basics at home, as I'm one of the SuperUsers in our work system (helps at work, but not with the at-home skills, oh-well).

Time for leftovers!

Just checking in for the evening..........

Kimmielee pixiedust: for Noah & his school situation.

Extra pixiedust: for all the sickies.

Don't have to sell any stuff since we don't have any kiddos. :goodvibes: Have bought some stuff however & usually hate feeling obligated to buy it.

My best friend & her family are at the Happy Place aka Disney World & she just called me to tell me her little man got a Magical Moments certificate today & got to be an honorary lost boy. I  Disney!!!!!!!!!!

I am still working out about 3-4 times a week. I am proud of myself for keeping it up. It sure is hard some days. It was hard tonight.......but I did it. :cheer2: I can tell things are firming up, but it's really not speeding up the weight loss much. :sad2:

Have a good night ya'll.

As an assistant girl scout leader - woo hoo - we get to keep between .45 to .53 per box. It is disheartening when we have a living room (STILL!!!) full of cookies, because we ordered a few too many cases! UGH. I can empathize with all of you selling stuff - being a peddler is not so fun at times (nor is the lack of reward). As far as selling stuff at school goes...we send a note and a check for $50. The note says, "Please, don't send anything home for my daughter to sell. Take the $50 in place of that." So far...so good, three years running! haha

Good Morning Moonies! Sorry I was MIA yesterday (incase y'all noticed). I let Ethan sleep in so I exercised a little more. Poor kid, if his leg would quit hurting he'd be fine. He has football practice tonight so we'll see how it goes.

I'm also down the hall from Kim! I'm soooooooo ready to go it's unbelievable. This will be the first time I've gone so late in the year. I'm a summer traveler but the islands pretty much stay the same year round temperature wise anyway.

Do you we should do some kind of name tag for the meet the first day?

I had put this together for our last cruise but that group wasn't nearly as organized as this one. Plus, I could alway just bring a blank sheet of sticker name tags and a marker. That is, if anyone is interested.

Thanks for the well wishes regarding Noah's Teacher situation. Unfortunately, I've gotten no response to my first email and a promise of a phone call that she didn't make for the second email. The third one now has the Principal copied. Grrrrrrrrr

I updated the Roster to show gizimo (Linda) and her son. Is anyone else missing? :confused3

I've also emailed our beloved Chris... was he traveling again? :confused3

Hi everyone
had a really busy few days
a wedding last weekend and my MIL's 80th birthday party last night
we went to a dinner caberray which was great
the food was wonderful and the show was bril
so getting into the swing of things for the cruise , not used to eating so much
love the idea for the name tags , but I would need you all to wear them for the whole cruise as I'm so bad with peoples names , so you have all been warned
Our school does a sponsored Jog for fundraising and my DS9 has just raised over €150 for it , he went around everyone in the village , the other DS would have been luck to get over €20

having a surprize party for MIL on sat Night so that all the family and neighbours can go ,
getting my full of in laws this weather
Hope everyone is feeling much better

Do you have to have a special printer cartridge to do this? Or would standard black and color cartridges work? I've thought about something with the dates and itinerary for the back of ours.

DW and I are both off today. Just got back from a multi-stop trip. Visited the seamstress, and got both of us measured. She's very detail oriented. "I'm taking notes," was uttered several times. Lengths, circumferences, etc. She showed us some of the dresses she made for the wedding of one of her daughters. All Renaissance-themed, and very impressive.

Time to call the TA about transfers,

Pam,
Love the designs for the back of the shirts. I like the one with the 2 Mickey Heads. I might have to do that for my shirt-are they on your photobucket account too? I am still not convinced that DH is even going to wear his lime green shirt.

Kimmielee....that Pirate Mickey ornament you posted a long time ago....was that a Hallmark ornament?

I think I am going to do my door magnets this weekend.

Gotta make a visit to Goodwill soon to see about DH's Bert costume.

After our fun filled weekend in Nashville last weekend, I am looking forward to some resting this weekend. Dinner with my family Saturday for my Dad's & sis-in-laws bday is all we have on our plate.

Extra pixiedust: for all of you ladies that are sewing up special things for the cruise. I wish I could sew.

Tomorrow will be 5 weeks until we are atMNSSP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, it is from a local Christmas Shop about an hour from where I live... It's in Frankenmuth, MI and it's called Bronners. If anyone wants these... you can order them on line and have them shipped directly to you.

If anyone out of the country wants them... just let me know and I'll bring them to you on the cruise! :thumbsup2

So, I’m always trolling for a book to read and fairly often I find myself at Costco simply because the limited selection aids in my decision making process (the prices aren’t bad either). Anyway, last night I picked up a booked call “Stop Dressing Your Six-Year-Old Like a Skank” by Celia Rivenbark. It’s actually a collection of essays and while I’m only 60 pages into the book I have to say that I’ve actually laughed out loud a number of times.

I mention this because next time any of you are in the bookstore you should locate this book and at least read the first chapter entitled, “There’s Always Tomorrow(land): If You Really Loved Me, You’d Buy Me Pal Mickey.” It more or less describes the authors encounter with what I have to suspect are DISers.:rotfl:

If you search on look on Amazon, the excerpt is actually the first few pages of that chapter. Or just click the link below...

The count down is on! We leave for orlando 5 weeks from today!

Am starting the tanning bed today to keep from being a lobster on the cruise. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

You're not alone. I'm also going to start my tanning soon for the same reason. For the last cruise I went every other day for 2 weeks (it was a last minute idea). When I told people that and they saw my "tan" their reaction was something along the lines of :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We just about always drive down -- hubby and I both love the trip. "The journey is just as important as the destination", that describes us :)

We like to try different routes and/or stop at different places, head off the highway if something intrigues us. We have found some amazing restaurants that way, seen some great sights and met some fun people. LOVE a road trip! :thumbsup2

Since there's interest in the name tags it would be my pleasure to coordinate them. Below is another idea that I had for a name tag design. Sort of a tribute to the cast member tags. Let me know what you think.

http://www.wdwinfo.com/photopost/data/747/51321nametag-cast_member-ish.jpg

If you would like me to print a name tag for you and your cruising companions, please PM me with the first names and home town (if you would like that included). I could either bring them with me to the terminal/DisMeet or mail them out prior to the cruise.

I think you have to do it manually by either copying and pasting or typing out the tags.

Then you can quote whoever you want.

I only hope that we don't lose sight of one thing - that it was all started by a mouse.

Just copy the text you want to quote into your posting, and then use the "wrap {quote} tags" button to put the appropriate coding on the quote. That button is the last one on the right, four to the right of the "insert link" button and right beside the "insert image" button (the one that looks like a little postcard).

You need to have the text highlighted in your message before you click the button, too.

Hi Everyone,

I am so excited to have found this thread. My DH, Bill, and our friend Penny, her boyfriend John are joining us on this Halloween cruise.

Our friends are from the DC area while we live in AZ. I convinced her to take a girls only cruise last winter and this time we're bringing the boys. She fell in love with cruising and it's a great way to get to see each other.

We are spending two nights at SSR to enjoy the Epcot Food and Wine Festival then taking to cruise bus to Port Canaveral.

Bill and I are DVC members (OKW and Boardwalk). Been to WDW nearly 40 times and on the Magic or Wonder 5 times. Love to cruise. Also have cruised on Carnival, RCL, HAL, Celebrity, and NCL

Went back to college in my mid-40s and applied for the WDW college program so I spent 8 months, 4 bussing tables at Tusker House restaurant in DAK and 4 at MGM as an Entertainment Manager Intern. Keeping up with those young college kids at Epcot "drink around the world" excursions was tough! I learned so much and received tremendous training from the Disney castmembers.

The countdown is killing me. We should already be on that darned ship!

How can I help with planning? What do you want to know about our itinerary and booking? Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Does anyone know the dress up nights? I think one is on Sunday.

Getting so close now. 5 weeks until embarkation. DW wants to post a photo of us soon. 1 month from now, we'll probably be all packed. I just gave the TA the remaining info they need (flight stuff). Also signed up for the frequent parker card at the airport so we can get a discount. Supposed to be in the 80's here this weekend. One last chance to wear summer clothes before they start getting packed away for the winter or put aside for the cruise.
Between my notes (had the transfer service picking us up on 11/2) and work, something is conspiring against 11/2. The manager who creates the schedule called me yesterday. Seems he didn't have me on the schedule for 11/2, and wasn't sure why. I was already headed for my email file with the "vacations approved" title when he asked if I'd be away. "I'll be on an island that day, and off all week," I reminded him. "I forgot. Ok, we've got enough people that day," was the response.

We are driving down as well. My husband and I love the drive also and usually do some sightseeing on the way down. I think we are leaving on the evening of October 24th but my hubby is trying to talk me into taking that day off work so that we can leave the evening of October 23rd. Unfortunately I work for a lawyer so it is not so easy to get an extra day off! My husband wants to stop on our way down this time in North Carolina to take a tour of a war ship there.

Our two daughters are leaving on October 23rd and driving down with my Mom and her friend and they are stopping in Hershey, Pa to do the "chocolate tour". My poor Mom doesn't know what she is getting herself into! :goodvibes

My girlfriend and I went to lunch today. She has an ADORABLE 8 1/2 month old son so I grabbed my camera on the way out the door.

I am soooo glad that I did so because it was BROKEN!! :headache: It's a Kodak Z612 digital camera and this is the second time in 13 months that it's had to go back to Kodak. What if I hadn't taken it today... ? It takes 2-3 weeks to get it repaired!!! I'm hoping it's back in time and FIXED! :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

The next time I would have needed it would be on October 14th for Noah's birthday (actually on the 12th but his party is on the 14th) and by then it would have been too late!

Kimmielee-Hopefully you'll get your camera back soon. If not, go to Overstock.com as they always have good deals there. I've gotten several things off of there and have always been satisfied. Some may be refurbished by the company. I'm paranoid so I avoid those.

Badell- Welcome to the madness! We may seem a little crazy sometimes, but we are really a lot of fun!!!!!!

Pam- Um, I hate to ask this:guilty: but can you make me another door sign to print out? I can't find the one about Jack in previous posts. I hope you saved it b/c I love it! Anything with my Captain Jack on it will do fine.

Melanie- I'm jealous you got to see Rick again. (a little late I know)

Paula here are some things in our cruise box: lime greeen t shirts, waterproof camera, waterproof ID holders, an accessory for Seans pirate outfit, Sean's hat for Kayaking, earplugs, straps to hold sunglasses, international calling cards to give to CMs as gifts, green lightstick necklaces (these are easy to find in stores (such as CVS) with the Halloween stuff), various reservation confirmations, other paperwork. I need to locate the travel journal & put it in there, too.
Maybe you could start assembling things out of sight of Ethan?? You could use a shoebox in your closet...so he would not be suspicious.

There's this store in the mall called Hot Topic. Nothing against the clientele, but this is one of the last places you'll find me. I'm sure I looked very out of place when I went in there. The store is very Goth, so I thought there may be some pirate-y things there. My suspicion was correct! pirate:
They have some clothing (not sure if it's meant to be everyday clothes or a costume) that looks kindof like POTC3 AWE. pirate with an Asian influence. They have alot of accessories. They have Halloween costumes. they have tote bags on the walls; there was a POTC3 AWE bag, they had a few Disney bags, I know I saw Tinkerbell:tink: , they had tank tops with Jack Sparrow. I think the typical customer is about 1/2 my age,, but I'm glad I went in there. I bought an accessory for Pirate night. They have some cute things (not everything is Goth) and I could see going in there again, even if I'm not looking for pirate wear. I think this is a chain, so if there's one near you, it may be worth a visit.

Thursday I was in a ticket booth at work; it was a slow day and I was on the Intranet reading some of the rules and such of DCL. I can't get into that from at home, so I can't do a clip and paste.

However, it appears they have been having problems with people taping signs to the doors, which has damaged the finish and requires repainting of the doors.

What DCL suggests is that people who are going to do door signs get some flexible magnets and tape them to the sign, and then the magnet will hold the sign to the door without damage.

Just want to let people know this in advance; this way if any notices are made about door signs the ones for the group will be legal.

I was at Michael's Craft store this weekend and bought magnetic tape. It is sticky on 1 side and has a magnet on the other...this way I can put door signs up. they have it in rolls and in different sizes (squares, rectangles), etc. Found it in the wood crafts dept (why there..I don't know).:confused3

Michael's did not have laminating paper though...will have to go to Office Max for that probably.

Looks like folks are sending Room #'s to me, that is great, I want as many rooms as possible, I have a little remembrance for each family. Just need the room # and the DIS name will be attached to the PM so that works.

Also I am bringing treats and would love to add to someone's stop, or are we doing a final grand bag at the end of the T and T journey?

Wondering about this too.......I was going to put my stuff in individual bags once I got on board. I have enough for 24 trick or treaters.
How do you want the treats done Pam????????

Good Morning Moonies!

I think we have a solution to how to surprise Ethan. He's going to spend the night with his grandparents the night before so I can pack and get ready. She's going to tell him she's taking him to school. I'm going to go ahead and take everything to the airport and have all the bags and things checked in. She's going to bring him to the drop off area of the airport and I'll be there with my pink Pirate Princess Mickey Mouse ears on. We're going to tell him when he gets out of the truck that we are getting on a plane and heading to WDW! I'm thinking that will be the easiest way for me to get packed without him knowing. How fun is that?pirate:

Just came across this
Address to ship packages to the Disney Magic or Disney Wonder is:

IDS Warehouse
9001 Marlin St.
Cape Canaveral, FL 32920

You must include your sail date, ship name, reservation number, stateroom number and contents of the package, somewhere on the face of the package. Packages must arrive 1 day prior to sail date.

I just checked with DCL and I have my room assignment. Due to my hip replacement and knee problems (asking for a stall shower and/or grab bars for the tub and elevated toilet) they gave me an accessible stateroom. I am in 7636 which is at the stern and looks VERY large with a huge verandah. Look at the room chart.

I think I can have a large crowd, especially when we leave ports, in the room.

Also, I was told that unless there is a specific request otherwise I will be assigned to a table with other CMs. However, if there are people (preferably with at least one single woman) who would have room at their table I can be requested.

Sounds great... but what about the Cruise portion? Remember, Noah will spill the beans when they meet! If I send you E's version of the DCL Journal in advance... perhaps you can give him that on the plane as an "activity" (there are word searches, crossword puzzles, etc.) and then as he turnes the pages he'll figure out the cruise part? :yay:

31 MORE DAYS UNTIL WE LEAVE FOR WDW!!!!!!!!

Do y'all think the Eco Jetski Tour on Castaway Cay will sell out? Last time we were on St Martin we were able to rent a jetski for half of the price of the Disney excursion. Granted all we did was ride on the waves and not do an Eco Tour, but that's all Ethan wants to do anyway. I was thinking of cancelling and waiting until after St Martin to book it if we don't get to ride there. What do y'all think?:confused3

Hi..the front of deck 6 rocks!!! :cool2: Well..that could be taken literally.

I've just heard that in stormier seas the front could feel more motion. Good thing we are on a higher level deck. Last time I cruised if I started to feel green I always went to an upper deck and felt better immediately.

We plan to take motion sickness pills a few days prior to the start of the cruise. My son tends to get motion sickness pretty easily.

I've sailed on DCL 3 times before and never felt sick so I'm not worried for this one. I work on a mountain too and have to take a gondola up to work every day, and I spend allot of time on mountain chair lifts too and they don't make me sick either, so fingers crossed I should be fine!

I went straight for the reviews and it seems as if this area is lovely and quiet, and great for quiet cove and the theatre, so things look good for us!

You are not cheap...you are one smart lady! :)

I've already cancelled my Sea Trek thru DCL. I was able to book it myself and save a few bucks plus we want to hang out at the beach after Coral World whereas Disney gets back to the ship too early.

Neat. I ski and my son is learning to snowboard. He had "snowboard school" at Keystone, CO and had to learn at 10,440 ft! He was worn out!

Whistler is superb- only done 3 days there but it is great! I would love to teach there on Saturdays but I don't know what job I am doing on Grouse this year, I wan't to be the lead instructor for the ski wee 3-6 yr old kids program and if I am I will have to work weekends. Grouse is great though, only 3700ft but 20 mins from downtown Van- open till 10 every night, and a beautiful view!

Compared to having no mountains in England anything skiable is great for me!

Hehe, but before the snow comes we have to cruise! Not long now!!!!!:goodvibes

Many years ago, in a place called Binghamton NY, there was this Doctor. He helped to pioneer the practice of pediatrics in the Southern Tier Region of NY. He was well known, and respected by both colleagues and patients. After he and his wife (a nurse) died in the late 1980's, the family helped to create a day of pediatric teaching for doctors, nurses, pa's, med students, etc. I've never been able to attend this. Christine has expressed interest in going, too. We're headed to the Finger Lakes this weekend, to help close up the cottage for the winter. But Dad got the boat put away for the winter this past weekend, freeing up our Friday. Turns out this year's talk is Friday, so I just told them we'd be coming. This Friday is the eleventh annual Dr and Mrs John Burns Pediatric Teaching day. They were my grandparents.

Grandpa actively encouraged all us grandkids to avoid going into medicine. He saw the issues of today coming 25-30 years ago, and didn't want any of us to have to deal with them. And all but one followed his advice, choosing paths other than healthcare. That one was me.

Ok.... look underneath Simon's name... See the line

"Wow! I'd love to see the Tennis Racket for that ball!"

That is something that Simon has said in a post somewhere and the "Tag Fairy" saw it and pulled it into his signature. Usually it takes a LONG time to get one! Paula got her's a few months back... Mine are over a year old... if you don't have a Tag, the words under your name are black in color and either something you put there or Dis Veteran, etc...

Noah and I went to a Make A Wish Foundation Fundraiser held by a HUGE Disney collector here in Michigan. OH MY GOSH... it was the COOLEST! Everything was set up and decorated like Disney's High School Musical. The actress that plays Kelsey (the one that wrote the songs and played the piano) was there and Noah (and a few other kids) got to be on stage and sing with her!

Also, Corey from "Corey in the House"... Bree's daughter from "Desperate Housewives", Phils sister from "Phil from the Future", an actor from "Mean Girls", the kid's band "T-Squad", Tatiana Ali (Fresh Prince of Belair) were SOME of the famous types that were there.

It was amazing and enough funds were raised to send 5 familes on their Make a Wish Disney Dream Vacations!

If any of you have the chance to attend something like this in your area... do it. It was an experience that Noah will NEVER forget!

When I went to do the payment authorization, everyone who is eating dinner with/around me was on the list of people I could be responible for their on board charges, :scared1: :rolleyes1 :rotfl: .

Hopefully the fax I sent in this morning will take care of that. We should be hearing about Palo brunch this week or early next, fingers crossed.

Check out this (http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/en_US/tour/shipTour?name=ShipTourPage) with Room 7636 at the back of the ship. Look at the size!

It definitely appears as though you have a huge balcony. :thumbsup2

Just pulled up our ressie on the DCL site. I can see everybody (about 12 of us) on the charging and account priviliges (spelling) too. Only DW has charging priviliges checked for me, and I can see that I authorized her account priviliges. But I can also see that others are "already authorized" (doesn't say by me, so perhaps that means they've filled out their on-line forms already)

We didn't get in on the group Palo brunch (that's ok) but we are doing linked dining. Hopefully they don't mess up our Palo ressies when they process the brunch request. (As he makes sure he's got copies of the confirmations and numbers)

Palo will be done by name and room #, so only individual ressies will be switched for only those on that list, (remember one brunch, dinner and tea per cruiser.)

There were several families already completed when I did my check-in last night. I only chose mom to get charging privileges on my card, sorry folks.

I think that is an awesome plan Paula.

That is the address I found too Jackie. I am pretty sure I am going to get a box together & mail it on down in a few weeks. Stuff that I don't want to pack & that won't be making the return trip either....trick or treat stuff etc.

Sean that is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the story. I was a pediatric oncology nurse for 10 years, so that is really neat to me.

Make a Wish is an awesome thing. I took care of so many kids that had their Wishes fulfilled. :thumbsup2 That sounds like a great time Kim.

We should be hearing about Palo brunch this week or early next, fingers crossed.

pixiedust: for our brunch PJ.

Congrats on everyone who got an upgrade. That is great.

EDIT: Whoops! Guess I should have caught up on the thread before hitting the quote button since someone has alreayd replied.

UK-Simon
09-25-2007, 01:58 AM
So Simon, what's the story behind THAT statement? :confused3 :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

OK Kim, here's the story!

As you can see by my signiature I used to be a cast member on the internation program at WDW. When I was 18 in 2002 I moved to WDW to work at Epcot as a merchie (merchandise employee) in the UK Pavilion at Epcot.

My Mum had been a member of the Diss for some time, and many of the DISers used to come by and see me and say hi. It was fun for me as it was great to meet people who had especially come to find you and pass on messages from home. Sometimes DISers from the UK would bring me chocolate from home which I missed, and infact one time I was even bought a ostcard from a lovely DISer to send to my Grandma back in England to let her know how I was doing. There was also one particular DISer (Zurg) who came by and included me on his website- he and his family were allot of fun! (http://www.badshoe.com/simon.htm)

To cut a long story short everyone was fab and I did meet up several times with DISers, sometimes at dessert parties, once for drinking around the world (of course I was underage so I was drinking Diet Coke!), Kimonos, even the Adventurers club. It was allot of Fun.

The was one particular webmaster, Penny and her Husband Simon (I know another Simon!), and one day I spent much time talking with them in the UK Sports shoppe. For those who know the UK Pavilion well, you know it is full of stereotypical merchandise from the UK. Well, we also sold Jumbo tennis balls found in Wimbledon. Usually they are sold so the fans can get the players to sign the balls at the side of the court. Well, we sold them for a mere $34!!! The Sports shoppe was also full of other overpriced tat (I can say that now I am no longer a cast member!), and invariably people would only use this shop as a walk was throught to HRC or the Toy shop. However, every man and his dog used to crack the gag at the tennis balls, "wow, I wish I could see the racquet to go with that ball!" It just seemed to be the instant reaction.

Now for a Cast member at WDW, you have to act like this is the first time you have ever heard the comment and actually play along to make the guest feel good. Please don't get me wrong, all the guests I met we're great, and even 5 years on even some certain special guests remain in your memory, however, by the 500th time of hearing the gag it isn't funny anymore!

So this Particular day Simon and Penny we're in the Sports Store with me for probably over an hour, and must have heard this joke way too many times to find it funnny!

I signed up to the Dis, and obviously made reference to it somewhere, and there you go, the tag fairy picked up on it! I must have only had about 2 posts at the time.

So now many years on I still have a pathetically low post count- but trust me, I read allot of the posts, I am just not a big poster. So maybe I do hold the record for the lowest posts with a tag by the fairy, but I met many great DISers over my 14 months at WDW. (Also bare in mind that I had vertually no internet access during my year at WDW).

So that's it, lol.

And thanks Kim for bringing it to my attention, *** it was so long ago, I didn't even realise it wasn't me that wrote it in some profile somewhere! lol

Anyway, enough of my antics- time for bed!
But with the room assigned the countdown is well and truly on!!!

Several people have asked about shipping boxes to the ship. We did this last year and the boxes were in our room when we arrived (way before any luggage was delivered). The IDS shipping address that has been listed in the posts is the correct address to use and yes, you have to include all of the other information they ask for.

We shipped a BUNCH of halloween candy and decorations for the Trick or Treat and a couple of bottles of wine. I know it says you can't but we did with no problem.

I shipped UPS and tracked the package. It worked beautifully.

Thought that might help someone, so I thought I'd post.

Can't WAIT to sail. Am definitely ready for some fun in the sun!

Okay, I must admit it was kinda funny to think about the UK celebrating Thanksgiving, when the American Thanksgiving is all about the pilgrims fleeing England and all that :lmao:

Anyhow, that is not what Canadian Thanksgiving is about ...... it's a celebration of harvest time, really -- a celebration of autumn. Giving thanks for the bounty of food, the abundance of love in our families, etc etc.

Okay, it's really all about having a big ol' turkey dinner with all the trimmings and oodles of desserts too! :lmao:

We shipped a BUNCH of halloween candy and decorations for the Trick or Treat and a couple of bottles of wine. I know it says you can't but we did with no problem.

I shipped UPS and tracked the package. It worked beautifully.

Thought that might help someone, so I thought I'd post.

Can't WAIT to sail. Am definitely ready for some fun in the sun!

Thanks for the information. I was waiting for someone who had actually done it to say it works. I am definetly going to ship a box. How early did you send it? I thought about 2 weeks out to give it plenty of time to get there.

OK Kim, here's the story!

My Mum had been a member of the Diss for some time, and many of the DISers used to come by and see me and say hi. It was fun for me as it was great to meet people who had especially come to find you and pass on messages from home.

great story
Is your mum still a DIS if so whats her name

Noah is in the shower... we just got home. Perfect weather (hot but with a nice breeze) the animals were out and about (watching the Lions get their mid-day snack - which appeared to be a bone about the size of a cow's leg was the highlight... ) and Noah is FILTHY dirty which is the sign of the end of a fun day.:yay:

Thanks for all the early birthday wishes... and yes Chris... 21 again... come Saturday I will have done that 2.199 times!:thumbsup2

Simon... you sound like a lot of fun, you'll fit in with this group very well.

CF - you never know... your Disney Princess could be sailing with her daughter or son and their family and just not be a DISer!! princess:

Ok... off to do homework that we should have done on Monday night, but didn't. If I'm teaching Noah anything really well, it's procrastination! 'Night to the moonies!:upsidedow
