Hi all!
Back from the member cruise. Have to say the cruise was GREAT but not AWESOME like the 11 nights in Paradise!
I will have a trip report with pictures posted this weekend. The changes during drydock were awesome!
Met up with Scott and Lynn on Saturday at MK and had a great time spending the evening together. Even got a picture I'll post in my trip report.
Just a note........HOLLYWOOD is no longer on the Wonder. Couldn't find him anywhere! Ran into this guy whose name is "CLAYTON" though. He is Hollywood's twin brother! Actually, now that Hollywood is in the role of assistant cruise director, he can't wear his grass skirt and he has to act the part, so he is now "Clayton" his real name. He said to give all his 11 night grass skirt fraternity buddies a shout out! I think when he move to the Magic for the Med crossing though he will be back to HOLLYWOOD! I just love that guy!....On another note.....IAN hurt his back during drydock lifting sheet metal, so DCL moved him into a more "adult" position for "light duty". No wet clothing for him any more. He was a little slow moving. He hosted most of the adult activities and was hilarious. A change for him too, but he was enjoying it. I'm sure the costume shop was enjoying the slow down in the number of wardrobe changes needed daily.
Michelle said to give table 23 a big shout out also. She took great care of us since we were on her rotation. Even got the coveting Palo Chocolate Souffle without any begging. She is moving to the Magic also and will be on our eastbound med crossing.
Okay, back to work

Hi all..
No trick or treaters here so quiet Halloween for us. I did not eat any candy and lost 4 lbs this week on WW.......probably from stress though. Tom had his biopsy, no results yet but will post them when I know..
On a brighter note, seems we are going to be Grandparents in June....my daughter, Carrie, told me this yesterday. I am pretty excited and cannot wait from them to move home from London for good....
Hugs to everyone.

I'm blowing off some steam at work by drowning my sorrows with cholesterol (baked potato with swiss, bacon, & sour cream) and listening to my IPOD way too loud.
I am scheduled for the cruise over new years for Dec. 2007- but I'm kind of getting the been there, done that feeling with the 7 day trips.
Any comments on Palau, Yap, or Bahammas for diving trips over the same time frame? Is is possible to do Palau & Yap on the same trip?
Glad to hear that eveyone had a great Halloween. T & Ting was done on Sunday night here- I lost count of how many kids came...busy stream from 1 to 4 pm. Sorry Dianna, I don't really have any photos this year...how's the shoulder?
Beth- how's the arm.
Hey Regina- did I hear you referenced on the Disboad's podcast this week?

Good Morning Everyone,
Bob, Thanks for the Halloween pic.
Peter, I thought that might be Jenn.
Congrats to Grandparents. I am so jealous! I need some grandbabies. ;)
Cheryl, I did get your PM about The wine and cheese festival. Sorry I didn't respond. I will send a PM.
We will be at Epcot on Saturday. I have arranged care for my DFIL and we'll be bringing our best friend Tracy along. I won't be able to drink any wine though. I'm working on my fourth antibiotic for a stubborn infection. Cipro seems to be the current Dr.'s choice. lol No yogurt, no caffeine, no wine. Bad timing. But I'm looking forward to seeing any and all of you I can.
Celeste, We are on the Magic for New Years 2007 so I hope you decide to stay with Disney. (being selfish here, as I would love to sail with you again) I love New Years on the ship. We are going with my daughter and son in law. Your diving trip to Palau and Yap is on my list. I totally understand your desire to go there.
When is the vertical challenge? It's coming up isn't it?
Drama Queen Alert! Surgery is next Friday. There is something about being dead on purpose that is starting to bother me. :confused3 Where is Alex? I'll be at FLHWP.
Virtual eating has been keeping me happy. Thanks to all of the great chefs of Dis. :grouphug:
So see you at EPCOT :dance3:

Hey! Glad to hear you're okay- or somewhat okay, despite the cipro. I'm going to challenge your MD a little on the yogurt- especially since cipro is so strong. You shouldn't take your medication alone with dairy items- but you are free to eat it with meals, but try to avoid it 6 hours before or wait until two hours after. Cipro is so strong that it might wipe out your natural defenses in your gut- I swear by the Kiefer drinkable yogurt that it probiotic. With the spider bite- I was on Levaquin, which is the same family as Cipro and it killed my stomach. The only, only way I lived through it was the Kiefer.
I really, really want to do the New Years cruise- but we could do a killer dive trip for the same price or less. I heard about the lake in Palau with the jellyfish that don't have stingers....holy cow would that not be cool to be swimming with thousands of jellyfish.
We could put together a separate lanyard people trip without the boat. With the help of the some of our lanyard friends who are travel agents, we could put together a killer trip for a good rate. All of us who did dive quest could go. Hmmm, adventures by Celeste---ha, ha. :lmao:
I'll send good nurse vibes your way- tell your nurses to behave or I'll come and they'll have to deal with me.
Our future trips to the world are December 18-20th and a longer trip for the marathon weekend.
Stairs are a week from Sunday- I haven't trained enough, but I'll finish. Pictures to follow....

Thanks to all of you for the fun......now we have another road to walk down which I am dreading, but we do what we have to do...
Hugs to all....stay well and healthy.

I know I haven't posted a lot lately, busybusy. We have had some big things in the works here. Alex (ds16) has been accepted to the New York Film Academy Acting in Film Camp at (drumroll please) Walt Disney World MGM Studios. The program is 3 weeks long (June 24- July 14) and he will be staying in a moderate resort with NYFA supervision. We will join him at the end of the 3 weeks (mini vacation :teeth: ) to attend a screening of his camps film in the MGM Screening room popcorn:: . This is a HUGE deal for us as Alex is pursuing his dream of working in the Film/Theater industry. We got the call from NYFA this morning and Kevin could hardly contain his excitement! The package includes parkhoppers and meals. The camp will film in different areas of WDW including World Showcase in Epcot and MGM. His drama teacher wrote a very nice refferal letter to his advantage. just thought I'd share our joy. So he will be going to NYC for a week, home for 2 days, and then off to WDW for camp for 3 weeks. Then he will be cruising with us next September. I had to remind him today that we could've done the Med cruise instead of all this and he reminded me that's why I'm the best step-monster ever! :lmao: He also says he'll do a lot of work around the house when he comes for Christmas. I'm already making the to-do list :rotfl:
Mike- You make me drool with all the yummy food talk. :stir:
Scott and Lynn- Word to the wise-Move to Orlando. Wyoming is flippin' freezing!!!! Wind cuts right through ya.
OOOHH, we were driving down the road today in Pennsylvania on I-8 0 and saw a black bear cub. I wasn't sure that's what it was then it turned straight towards us. BEAUTIFUL!!! Sometimes I have to remind myself why I do this job and it's moments like that that remind me. :teeth:

Marsha, Our thoughts are with you guys, don't give up hope and fight like crazy, medical advances continue.
PIT, hey it is cold here at WDW, high today about 70, yes we will have to get used to the wind in Cheyenne. We have already learned you open one car door at a time, otherwise anything not nailed or strapped down in your vrhicle will be in Nebraska before you know it.

I have many friends who are going to school to be nurses who give anethesia, and they ask me why I don't join the program......I always tell theml- I really have no interesting in making people look like they are dead!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: So, you can understand why I found this so, so very funny.
Just remember Dianna, short of heart surgery- you won't really be dead on purpose, you'll just play a dead person on TV. (In other words, you'll be sedated and they won't be stopping your heart.) :rolleyes1

Marsha,
Even though I never got to meet you, my heart felt sympathies go out to you. :guilty: I have had some very sick patients since returning from the cruise, and it has really made me sit down and think about life. (I'll have to update my blog)
Anyways, take courage in knowing you are going to one of the best hospitals in our fine country and that you and your family will be in the hearts and prayers of many. There have been studies that the power of prayer or meditation has been shown to positively impact the lives of others- even if they were unaware of it being done. (Super interesting study done a few years ago)
I have to admit I know little about oncology as they hold all treatments while people are in the ICU- but I have spent time with many individuals with brain tumors.
I wish you and Tommy the best and hope there is a silver lining around the storm cloud that will soon be discovered. To everything in life, there is purpose.
Should you need someone to pull up medical research on the choices they offer you- please feel free to PM me and I can pull them up for you- or try to recommend credible sources.

Peter- Have you seen how much those Adventures by Disney cost? HOLY COW- for 8 nights in Italy, it was more than our 14 night cruise. I have heard nothing but wonderful things and that you get to do some items that the general public cannot, but all I can say about the price is WOW! I would love to do one of their trips, but not while I am currently making the salary I am. :guilty:

Celeste, thank you so much for uplifting words this afternoon.....I am trying to keep upbeat about this but when I try to do reference work on the Internet, I hate what I am reading.....I will see what the doctor offers us on Tuesday and what our options are....the thing is Tom feels fine, just that pesky lymph node which means it is in his system waiting... Nasty cancer, just nasty.
Anyhow, our daughters are coming today and we will do some fun things with them, and just spend time as a family circling the wagons and preparing for the fight...
Thanks all for the prayers, please keep them coming, I do believe in the power of prayer and my husband is very devout in his prayers as well.....hugs all around, and keep us safe and healthy..

Hi Marsha and Tom: Please know we are thinking of both of you - it is so difficult to hear this kind of news. I know. We were also on the cruise but did not get a chance to meet you. Were you by any chance reading the book "Running with Scissors" Marsha and we spoke in the lobby?
Take care.

Hi Anna...
Yes that was me and I just finished it....interesting but very strange... I am now reading Glass Castle which I find fascinating, another true story too, that one I can recommend, the other one is a bit weird...I did like it though..
I remember our conversation over the book....it is nice to be able to put a face to the name.. :)
Everyone have a great rest of the weekend, lots of praying in church tomorrow from me and I am sure Tom. Thankfully it is an early mass with no music as I would probably be bawling....
Hugs all around.

Noah had a great weekend- lots of his hard work paid off. He had a belt test for karate, did his kata perfect- I can hardly wait to see what he gets. (We find out in class on Saturday) But I think he will get his orange belt and hopefully a strip or so. I'd post photos, but they don't allow you to take them during the tests. Then on Sunday, he had scuba lessons where he was able to pass off a good portion of his skills- which will get him ready to complete the "seal team" missions. The seal team is for kids 8 to 10, who are getting ready to do open water skills. The little turkey sure made me proud.
I'll post my favorite photo later tonight when I get home.....

Sad news to share :sad1: ...our beloved akita, Nikko, passed away in her sleep last Friday. I cry every time I find one of her bones buried under a pile of leaves or in the back of the car. Update on us, doctor's office called and cancelled today's appt and rescheduled for tomorrow at 1:00pm....so I do not know what I am dealing with or how, but when I do know, I will post. It actually gave me more time to do research and we may go for a second opinion at Sloan Kettering in New York.....I also got some help from Pancan which is an organization that helps PC patients and their families and pushes for more research to help combat this dread disease.. I feel ok right now, strong, and am looking forward to doing battle and getting Tom well........He made flubber in case you did not know...Hugs all around.

We had a great time with Bob and Cheryl and Scott and Lynn. Dianna and Lamar, so sorry we didn't catch up with you -- hope things are better.
We got to do a number of things we have never done at WDW before. We went to Party for the Senses -- that was great! Only had a couple food things that I didn't care for -- and I tried all but 2 things I believe. Thanks to everyone for the advice on how to tackle this party. One thing to remember is don't go with Bob and Cheryl ( :lmao: Just kidding!). We had a larger breakfast because we weren't going to eat much during the day. That was until the Wisconsin football game and ESPN came into play. Five appetizers later we were all ready for a nap ;) But we did make it to Party for the Senses on time and got a table :thumbsup2
We tried every kiosk except one. We learned some interesting information about Florida's Mango wine ;) And we got to see a preview of Osborne Lights :cheer2: Never have seen that before. All I can say is KEWL.

Our first Akita, Kita Kuma (your Nikko looks alot like her) died soon after learning my dad had been diagnosed with cancer. Hello cruising family,
Laurie, Mike and Quincy,
So sad to hear about your beloved pup. They are so much a part of our lives. We are thinking of you.
We didn't make it to the wine and cheese festival. :guilty: We got as far as the EPCOT exit and turned around and came home. I'm busy cooking! Since the family is all going to be around this weekend and I won't feel like cooking, I'm cooking ahead. Made a tuna casserole, chili, working on the sauce for lasagna and boiling up a chicken for chicken soup. It will keep them fed and away from Stavros'(our local pizza joint). My daughter calls their pizza "pizza crack". :sad2:

Michael, Laurie and Q, soo sorry about Niko, our thoughts are with ya.
Marsha and Tommy, hang in there, our thoughts are also with you.
We have been very busy with the sale of our house, if something could go wrong it has, but it is still progressing. Readers Digest version, just the start, Had lot corners surveyed and marked, learned that part of our neighbors house was on our property. Property lines marked by the developer were different than what was filed with the County, Kind of a mess, and so it goes, there is more and seems like something every day, It has been nuts,
Concierge Staff at OKW is great as we have burnt up their fax machine. LOL
Just Breathing In , Breathing Out, and moving on…….
Dive show goes well, getting updated etc.
WDW is very busy, kinda surprised, Something they call Jersey Week.
Hey Tracy Post the photo of our wine yet?????

Hope that the sale goes a little more smoothly for you both....I know when we sold our house 3 years ago to move to Cape Cod, the buyers were not easy....we got through it though and you will too...just a few more gray hairs.. :rotfl2:
Jersey Week is not easy at WDW......hope that you get around ok and you are right, breathe in, breathe out....I am doing a lot of that too..
Hugs and Happy Friday everyone!!!!!!! Hope you have a great weekend, lots of hugs and good feelings.

Thanks for posting the pics from the WDW meet. Here is a pic of Noah in his scuba class last weekend. He is floating up and down in the pool with each breath.
Scott, anything cool at DEMA? I heard there is a big show here in February, that is supposed to be cool. I just joined DAN yesterday and I am contimplating doing their medical series of classes. Any thoughts on what they offer- will it be interesting to me or too basic?
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a304/ccalabro1/BudaNoah.jpg

11-12-2006, 05:09 AM
Celeste, DEMA was good, nothing really new, or exciting. Good to see folks we know in the dive industry. Instructor updates etc….
DAN, (Divers Alert Network) is a great organization, big topic was the changes in CPR protocols, the mantra is now fast and hard, made it simple for the lay provider. Their CME classes are very good, can be done on line. There are some new ones on the horizon. One will be on diabetes and diving. Their research programs are very interesting and divers can participate in the studies. Celeste I think there is a family membership available if you didn’t know.
Celeste, just looked at your post again, are you talking about the DAN O2 classes, AED, or their classes for CME??? CME would not, the others might be. First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life is a good class, and fun to teach and interesting. The docs with DAN are top notch in their field.
Found some great travel programs that we may try to offer later in 2007 or early 2008.
One more day at WDW, packing etc, and then home to the new hacienda tomorrow. First time flying Southwest, so up early to get our boarding passes.
Hope all are having a great weekend.

Hey Marsha,
I thought of you and Tom when I was climbing. It's nice to think that some of the effort you do, might actally help someone you know....the fundraiser was for cancer reserach. This foundation provides grants to up and coming scientists. I guess many of the people who have received the grant have gone onto receive nobel prizes.

You did great Barbara! Try it again, there are lots of us scrapbookers here that can give you tips. Say hello to Rob and Amber from the Cheesecurds!! We had so much fun with them on the Wonder.
Don't know if I'll be getting much time to recuperate over the long weekend, but I am having fun with the new job so it's ok!
Thanks everyone for the comments and well wishes. The hospital where my son's wife had the baby is our local baby birthing factory. This one hospital had 6800 births last year.
Tracey I know that you will be great in your new job. Best of luck and enjoy your next visit to the world.

Cruise dvd is finally finished . . . . . almost - need help with the case cover!
Turns out, it was pretty easy. IDVD on the Mac makes it a breeze. Does take along time to burn though. Ended up having a two disc version. One of all video and the other of 500 photos set to music and blah, blah, blah.
What I am hoping for is the graphic of the 11 Nights in Paradise. Would like to print that as the jacket for the dvd cover. Does anyone have that and is it okay if I use it?
Thanks for your help!!

When are they "selling" the 2007 DVC cruise and are the points out yet? As my sister lives in Florida now, I might be able to bank enough points to do it. It would be really, really fun to do the scrapbook and then the DVC cruise. Linda, I have an update for you- but it will have to wait until late Friday- I have finals Friday after work.
Elaine- we scrap during the day and play at WDW at night
If you have "never" sailed on a member cruise before, you can go onto the DVC website and put in for a lottery. If you are drawn, they will call you on Sat. Dec. 2nd to book you. If you have, then you have to wait until Sat. Dec. 9 when the lines will open to book the cruise.
Points range from 135 per person (Cat. 11 or 12) to 201 per person (Cat 6) to 372 for Cat. 3.
The itinerary is the same as this years, PC, CC, sea day, CC, back to PC. Sunday Oct. 21-Thur October 25.
Let me know what you guys are doing for scrapbooking. I'll try to swing it and I think as soon as reservations open I would need to book cuz I think they fill up pretty fast from what I hear. Have never been before, so it's a great excuse to go to Orlando and check it out! :rotfl2:

The movers are moving everything this weekend, so next week I will be in the house with a sleeping bag, TV dinners, dog food and the dogs. I will be working thur Nov 30th, then drive to Cheyenne with the dogs on Dec 1st. Then get to spend the next month unpacking everything!

He is a blue haired teacup chihuahua that only weighs 1 pound 4 oz. right now. He should only be about 3 lbs fully grown. Kevin got him for us for an early Christmas present. Christmas at Arlington and one big, American thank-you is certainly due to Merrill Worcester and the Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington, Maine. To do something like this year after year is above and beyond the call of duty. Here's a salute to you, Merrill, and I hope you get many more.
I had never heard of this. I have only visited in the summer months. I wonder why the press hasn't enlightened the public about it?

Rest easy, sleep well my brothers.
Know the line has held, your job is done.
Rest easy, sleep well.
Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held.
Peace, peace, and farewell...
Readers may be interested to know that these wreaths -- some 5,000 -- are donated by the Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington, Maine. The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He's done this since 1992. A wonderful guy. Also, most years, groups of Maine school kids combine an educational trip to DC with this event to help out. Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one the poorest parts of the state.
You hear too much about the bad things people do. Everyone should hear about this!

That's an impressive and beautiful gesture on the part of Mr Worchester.
And on another note... here is the latest tally of postings - and it looks like its' still running neck and neck with Tracy and Bob and Lee. Scott even looks like he might be "threatening" all of a sudden. ME... I got left in the dust back at 1000 which by choice was my "limit" more or less. BUt I think I did good having started pretty late within a hand span of months before the sailing!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving......we are hanging in here, and I just have been rather quiet about Tom's treatment, which is unpleasant...
I do not want to bring everyone down, just a quick hello and take care as the Holidays approach..
I do post what is going on with him on the new board Coping and Compassion....anyhow, please keep the prayers and good energy coming our way..
I just saw this...
... without know all the details I wanted to offer our prayers for fighting towards recovery or just to hang in there. We've had a somber year too with some threatening developements with several family members and friends.

Thank you, Mike! He's already spoiled rotten, mostly by Kevin. He won't even put the poor dog down! Dolce likes to ride on Kevin's shoulder, it's a hoot to watch :dogdance:
HEY CINDY (and Kevin)!!!!
Happy congrats on the "new addition".... Dolce is it? We're all grins over here as we're huge doggy pals here! DId I ever mention we have had Samoyeds in our family for 21 years? I gave Alicia a Sammy pupply on the 2nd anniversery of our first date and since then we've had Sammys around us!

Our "critter" here is a slight one at 110 pounds! He's got a container of Panang Thai curry between his paws that he just licked clean! Does he look happy??? :thumbsup2

Happy Thanksgiving. I have not been to the boards since the cruise, have been too busy with work and packing. Scott is in Jackson this weekend with a huge trailer to haul the motorcycles back to Cheyenne. The movers are moving everything this weekend, so next week I will be in the house with a sleeping bag, TV dinners, dog food and the dogs. I will be working thur Nov 30th, then drive to Cheyenne with the dogs on Dec 1st. Then get to spend the next month unpacking everything!
It is good to hear from everyone again, I will try to get to these boards more often.
Lynn
Lynn...
Safe travels on the move. The last time we moved was about 10-11 years ago and it was such a "bear". But once it's done ... it's done! So much to do ---- and so much excitement! OK... gotta run for church - we have a rehersal for a bible study Christmas skit we're doin'. I get to play Joseph while Alicia will play Mary. Someone told me I have to fabricate a camel out of cardboard ... with aq steering wheel! OK... I gotta go now....
TTFN!

Wow! I had no idea that anyone really was keeping track of that anymore. I guess we can count on Captain Crash to keep us all up to speed. :lmao:
Hope that everyone had a great weekend. Back to the salt mines tomorrow. Mike

Now...
... you didn't think I actually COUNTED page by page who had posted how many... now did ya??? LOL!
And no - I was NOT really counting - it was just a whim to post it since I did not have enuf time to read back too far ta get caught up. I've been wacked in the last couple of weeks with severe allergies and a subsequent sinus issue with tough cough - and I even stayed in bed a couple days unable to talk (95% voice gone - and 100% of the time folks knew I had a bad and injured voice so I've been walking or reclining "wounded" for a few days/weeks).
At any rate... I got a mountain of work to attack tomorrow. Not sure how much will get knocked off.
TTFN! :wave2:

Well Turkey day and the whole weekend were spent packing and cleaning. Lynn still has a bunch to do. She is a real trooper working hard.
I am back in Cheyenne and Lynn should be here on 12/1, her birthday, I better plan something, like a special TV diner or pizza.
It was good to see the pups.
Hang in there Scott.
Hope that everyone made it home safe and sound. Mike

Good Evening.
Could not decide if I wanted to do this post or not.
I have been putting it off for several days.
Last Friday evening, Tippy, our friend, companion and wonderful pet,
passed away in her sleep. She will be dearly missed.
A little bit about her can be found here....Tippy's Place (http://members.aol.com/tippyhound)
