STATEROOM TOUR
There seemed to be an expressed interest in a stateroom tour a few days ago. It was talked about, but never really went anywhere. So, this post is to figure out if there is a real demand for this, and if we have enough people to sign up to complete the tour. Please respond if you are interested in attending, or having your stateroom on the tour.
People interested in showing their room:
Cat 12:
Cat 11: Have Volunteers
Cat 10: Have Volunteers
Cat 09: Have Volunteers
Cat 08:
Cat 07: Have Volunteers
Cat 06: Have Volunteers

Cat 04: Have Volunteers
Cat 03: Have Volunteers
Secret Porthole Room: Have Volunteers
Sideways Cat 11: Have Volunteers
Handicap Accessible Room:
Solid Verandah Cat 6: Have Volunteers
I'll keep track of responses, and post them. We can work together to figure out when to do the tour.
Lisa
Here is an update, showing categories in which people have generously volunteered to let us traipse through their rooms . WE HAVE ALL BUT 3 categories covered!!!! I'm still looking for rooms in the other categories. If you'd like to volunteer your room, and haven't yet, please let me know (even if your category is already taken). I'm going to try to get the best "flow" possible for the tour. That way, we're spending as little time as possible climbing stairs.
The following list of people have shown an interest in participating in a tour of staterooms:

Diana - I agree. I think the tour is going to be very popular. Can't wait to see what some of the other rooms look like. Especially an inside room. We've only been in a 8, 7, 6 and 5. I love our Cat 7's and think we will continue to book them but it is nice to see other options as well.

I know some people love inside staterooms, especially since some don't spend much time in the room. I don't know if I could do it. I've done it before years ago on other lines but I think now that I've had my verandah I'd miss it too much (must be how I got my tag :) ).

Any advice on how I can make it to the PI meet Saturday with the kids, and it NOT ruin the Cruise surprise???
I don't think it can be done, my 9YO is very keen. I don't want to chance them getting one fraction of an idea we are going on the cruise, until we arrive at the Port Sunday.
I think I read on the DVC member website about the gathering being for any DVC member. It said something like "spread the word to other members." It is an event they have been doing on Tuesdays all summer, I believe.
You could tell your kids you are going to the DVC party (same one they have had all summer), then when you get there and they hear about the cruise, you could say, "oh, I guess most of these people are going on a cruise...." Boy, that will make them wish they were included, then the next day the surprise of their lives!

My problem is I can't lie in bed and see the ocean rolling by. :crazy2: The one cruise we had an outside porthole room and I had to keep those drapes duct taped shut because every time I looked outside.... :rolleyes1 So now, I leave those outside rooms for you guys, and I happily take the inside rooms!

When we did the Stateroom tour on the Repo. cruise, we started out with probably about 50 people. We started on Deck 2 and went up. ABout 1/2 way through, I took about 1/2 of them and went to another deck and it worked out much faster by doing that. It was fun.
the sideways room was real strange. A friend, CM, was in it and let us see it. It was, of course, an inside room also. It is nice for two people.
We also saw several types of handicap rooms also. One inside and one in the back on deck 6, which is an outside veranda around the 1/2 of the aft of the ship. Super large room with a walk in closet that is twice as big as any bathroom on the ship.

Our very 1st cruise was on premier. It was only a 3 day and we had an inside cabin.
I dont want to do that again.
Our 2nd cruise was on Carnival and we had a porthole.
Then came the 1st DVC member cruise.
I booked a baclony and was hooked!!!
So for me, the very least i would like to do would be a port hole.
Im not a go-go-go type person.
i like to sit and watch the ocean, sunrise, sunset in my jammies and sip a diet pepsi, or adult beverage.
Anyway, we might be interested in a state room tour.

Dh may say NO WAY, but I'll try.

You could always tell them you missed out on the cruise as it sold out super fast. Since you were so upset you couldn't get a room on the cruise, and this even is open too all DVC members, you thought you'd stop by and say hi to all your friends who are able to go and get in on some of the celebrations?
I think I read on the DVC member website about the gathering being for any DVC member. It said something like "spread the word to other members." It is an event they have been doing on Tuesdays all summer, I believe.

Boy, that will make them wish they were included, then the next day the surprise of their lives!
These are GREAT ideas! I hadn't even thought about the Bon Voyage party being for ALL DVC members. We can walk around acting all doom and gloom, with a green eyed monster on our back about how we can't go on the cruise, and how those who are going are soooo lucky.
If I meet any of you, could you please play along? Thanks!

Marie - I think it will be easy for some of us to play along - esp me!
Gail and others here - you have all been blamed for my going out and buying a Dyson vacuum today - I've been checking out vacuums as ours has been dying for some time now and my dd has one and loves it. So... I decided that it was time to pick up something that will really work - we have a few animals and I'm impressed so far!
We are only a day away from the 30 day mark for the Bon Voyage Party - is it time to leave yet???? :cheer2:

Diana - I hear what you are saying. If the water bothered me I think I would want an inside one as well.
I love looking out at the the water. It is so calming and peaceful.
The very first cruise I ever went on was way back in 1977 I think. We had a deluxe outside room. We had one porthole, the size of the ones on deck one. The funny thing was you had to stand on a chair to look out of it. There was no tv in the room only a radio that piped in music and announcements. Still we had a great time and it is where I got my love of cruising.
On the first Member Cruise we booked a Cat 8 to save points. It was fine for the 4 day cruise and when we wanted to relax and read we headed down to deck 4. For longer cruises I need my verandah. I like to go out there and read and get away from the crowds up by the pools. We also have done breakfast out there a few times and even once did lunch out there.

Oops - I forgot to mention that I like my sideways inside stateroom - it seems so much roomier for us! We've had a standard inside stateroom but we do request this room when we are lucky enough to cruise. I would have liked to get a verandah room but I do like to visit WDW and use up my points every year so I just decided to use my points wisely for a change. Dh thinks I'm a bit on the crazy side but I think he envies how I get up and go - "On the road again" - see everyone in a few weeks!!!

This is only our 2nd DVC cruise (or any cruise for that matter). The first time we had a cat 6, but we decided to give a SPR a try this time. We figured that since it's just a 4 day, if we miss our verandah that much, it's not that long of a cruise.

I was the 5000 post on our other thread. Yea for me
Which thread is that Kay? There are very few cruises with threads over 5000 and I see on the Repo cruise that post #5000 was by Linda - seaulater.
Also sorry you don't believe that we celebrate both the posts and replies for milestones. Back before the board changed the only way you could see counts was on the main page so we would celebrate when that hit a milestone 1000, 2000, etc. With the new board we found that number was actually the number of replies so we started celebrating both milestones and replies. Double the fun.

Amy I'm wondering if with the configuration of the room if they would hold 4. They might only sleep 3 and not have the pull down from the ceiling.

Yea to another Dyson owner :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Did you get the purple one or the yellow one?
I think the sideways Cat 11 are bigger than the regular Cat 11. I like how the entry door isn't where the closet and bath are.
We have had a Cat 5, then the obstructed 5 that was classified as a 7 then we had a Cat 11. The fact that we booked a week before the cruise didn't leave us much to pick from and a Cat 11 was better than not being on the ship at all. We didn't have any problems with the 11. I do like the verandahs but the inside cabin really wasn't that bad. At least it didn't have that split bathroom set up (ok, I'm sure the whole world likes the split bathroom but I am not a fan of them at all).

It would be an interesting set up if it did sleep 4.
I see I missed both 4000 & 5000. Congratulations to the Kay & Bear. :Pinkbounc
That's what I get for spending the evening with Cameron. A Cub Scout pool party and then rock climbing afterwards - for Cameron at least. My son, who was very willing to sign up for parasailling at CC, now tells me he's afraid of heights. :confused3 Gary's going to be really disappointed if he doesn't get to go with Cameron. I don't know if Cameron was thinking that it wouldn't happen or what. But, all of the sudden, I heard it over and over again "I'm afriad of heights". Even the temptation of parasailing didn't get him to the top of the wall. This is the kid who was in rock climbing camp a couple weeks back and  it. Ugggh!!
It sounds like we are going to have a Dyson and a Henry club. What a strange group we are. :rotfl:
I finally opened our mail and found my fish extender. I can't wait to use it.
We were talking about unpacking from Hilton Head and putting everything away. And, it occurred to me, we don't have to really "pack" it all away. It's a great opprotunity to start getting things packed for the cruise. How cool is that. :cool1: Even better, when we return from the cruise, Cameron & I head down to WDW 3 weeks after that. See what DVC has done to us. :teeth:

You are right Kay it isn't a competition, but I'm afraid you are the one who thinks it is.
To set the record straight I never had any say in doing the shirts. JohnVN had written to me with his logo which I had put up on the site waiting to see if anyone else had any suggestions. I was also the one who suggested he talk to you. Someone else pm'd me at the time - honestly I can't remember who but it was a fellow cruiser not a friend of mine. They said they were in the industry and could also do the shirts. I again put them in touch with you because at the time you seemed to be having a hard time getting peoples orders straight and seemed to be overwhelmed with doing it and the repo cruise coming up. You sent me a very nasty pm at the time and told me to butt out which I did.
Mark asked you to stop the passive agressive "I'm sending you a pm" that you kept posting. Especially since that was on something that everyone was interested in.
I'm sorry you feel slighted that we don't have anything up on the site about the shirts. The simple fact is that 1) you never sent us anything and asked us to put it up and 2) as several people mentioned yesterday you yourself said you were finished with the shirts back in June.
So please stop the pettiness that you've been showing on the thread. We won't share the nasty pm's that you have sent both Mark and I.
To the rest of the cruisers I apologize that this has all come out in the open. I guess better now than in 5 weeks when should all be having fun.

Don't bother trying to divide us Kay I am not putting her 'in her place' as you so quaintly put it. I stand proudly side by side, shoulder to shoulder with her. The ONLY one causing trouble is YOU Kay. Go play the innocent someplace else, it isn't befitting of you at all.
I am not going to be a reason for further conflict in this thread. You 'win' Kay, whatever that may mean to you, to me it's meaningless. This is my LAST comment in this thread. Goodbye.

They are these plastic "mail organizers" (kind of like an over the door shoe bag) that you can hang on your fish outside your stateroom door. They are decorated with cute Disney characters. I know Amy has the link to a picture of one on e-bay. I'm sure she will be more than happy to post it tomorrow. I will be using mine inside my cabin somewhere for something (I haven't figured out for what just yet, but I will)

I think changing the subject is a great idea.
I will enlighten you.
On this thread, there seems to be a big difference between WANT and NEED. Do you "need" a fish extender. Probably not. Will you "want" one. Possibly.
A lot of us bought them off of ebay. On the ship, there is a fish hanging outside of the doors for notes and what not. On the May repo cruise, I think, someone was nice enough to buy they fish extenders.
If you want to take a look at the one I bought on ebay, here's the auction.

I think Mrs.Lips still has plenty in her stock. :rotfl2:

Gail - if you are going to use it inside the cabin I think it would be a great place to store receipts and navigators (of course those would have to be folded). I always seem to have receipts from shutters etc. laying around and the organizer might help.

As for vitamins out of their bottles....I don't know if this is 'legal' but I usually put all my misc pills in one small bottle. Sure it's not the safest thing to do, but I know what each pill is. :confused3 Cindy had an interesting story about what happened to her loose pills travel back from HH. :scared1:

Cheryl - you should be fine with vitamins not in their original bottles. It is usually only perscription medicine that should be in their oginial bottles.

Yep, I did have my checked baggage gone through. The baggie full of my prescription medication had been gone through and some of the pills were broken in half. This was checked baggage going onto an airplane.
I guess I learned my lesson. This trip, I'll be carrying it in my purse. Both there and back.
I can't help with port customs as this is our first cruise. :cheer2:

Hey Cheryl where have you been - spending your free time on VMK!
I put tylenol in an empty pill bottle and check it through and I haven't had any problems. Of course no problems that I know of :rotfl: You could put them in your carry on bag, that way you know if anyone opens the bottle. Is the original bottle too big to bring?

I've put Advil, vitamins and cold tablets in checked bags with no problems on the airlines or at the port. Now that I'm on a persription I put that in my purse and carry it on.

Cheryl I don't think you will have any problems with port customs. You should be fine with them in your luggage or your carry on. Now as I go to the airport I'm going to visulize them going through my pills like they did to Cindy. We're use to it, for some reason we always seem to have that letter in our bags telling us that our bags were searched.

Click here (http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/en_US/myCruise/landing?name=WhatToPackDetailPage) for the page on what to pack from DCL.
It does say for medication that it should be in its original container. I don't think that goes for vitamins.

I was just catching up on my reading of past posts. The snipng betweem Mark and Mary and Kay is a bit childish to say the least. I got on here to enjoy exchanging thoughts and ideas with fellow DVCr's and cruisers. Adults fighting like little kids is not what I expected. I don't need that kind of stuff.

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Tip Of The Day
Does anyone remember this from staying onsite. There used to be a channel called the tip of the day. I thought it might be nice to count down our last month with some tips for the cruise. Here's one for today.
Your printer and a set of address labels can save you lots of time on the cruise itself.
Many people before they go on vacation will type up address labels to apply to their postcards. That way you and your family have the addresses at hand and you just peel and stick onto the postcard, write your private message and then send.
Here's the tip - and credit goes to Karen (ohiominnie) since she shared it with us on the 10 day and it worked great. At the end of the cruise you will get color coded luggage tags to put on your luggage. Information needed is:
Number of pieces of luggage (1 of 3, 2 of 3, 3 of 3)
Stateroom number
Name
Address (including city, state and zip code)
Make those up in advance on your address labels. Then when you have to pack :sad2: it will make it a little quicker. Plus by being printed it is easier for the porters who unload the ship to help keep your pieces together. Tag measures 4 inches wide by 2.5 inches tall to help you figure out which size label to use.
An extra tip for scrapbookers. The front of these tags feature different characters. Tags of all colors are available at a table by guest services. So stop on by and you can pick up some cute tags for your scrapbook.

Nice job on the website Mark. I'm going to send the address to my sister so hopefully she can get idea of what's been going on here without reading 300+ pages. However, there's just one thing....I noticed that Blinkies, fish extenders, and the OM organizers all got a mention, but not Crocs! What's up with that? After all, the tag fairy recognizes us! ;)
We're use to it, for some reason we always seem to have that letter in our bags telling us that our bags were searched.
There is suppose to be a letter? :confused3 Hmmm, no "love" notes left in any of ours but I know for certain our toiletry bag was inspected (the ziploc with the bottom cut off was a big clue :earboy2: ).

Wow Mary, This is a GREAT IDEA!! :cheer2:
But you are giving me more stuff to do!!! :rotfl2: And now I'm going to be singing that song in my head for the rest of the day!!
No seriously, keep it up I keep adding to my pack list anyway. At this rate I'm going to need a moving van to get all my stuff to the airport. The bonus for us is we are actually allowed 8 pieces of checked luggage, since we are technically 4 people. Unfortunately, there is no possible way DH and I can manage 8 pieces of luggage with the 2 kids! :rotfl:

There's always been a letter when our stuff has been gone through. It's kind of like an apology letter. A gross story was one trip we used DH's bag to just throw all the dirty laundry in, like just tossed in there and that sucker was packed. Well wouldn't you know it we got home, opened that bag and every single piece of clothes was perfectly folded along with the friendly letter. :scared: :faint:

Wow - you had a nice TSA agent with too much time on their hands. We always bring an extra duffle and use that for dirtly laundry (and saves room in our luggage for souvinees etc. That's the one that was opened one time. But they didn't fold our clothes for us. :)
The bonus for us is we are actually allowed 8 pieces of checked luggage, since we are technically 4 people. Unfortunately, there is no possible way DH and I can manage 8 pieces of luggage with the 2 kids! :rotfl:
One trip we arrived at the airport and both kids were zonked out. We had a stroller with us, a carseat as well as all of our bags. Cameron must have been about 7-8 at the time. So, we put him, sound asleep, into the stroller along with bags hanging off the back of it. Gary loaded the rest of our luggage up on a luggage cart and then we still had Walker to contend with who was snoring away in his carseat. So, Gary popped him on top of all the luggage and we just strolled along. I'm sure we were a sight to see.
Gotta do what you gotta do. :rotfl2:

I'm having a hard time with my Crocs. I haven't had them all that long but the couple of times I've worn then, the tops of my feet get rather sweaty. :worried: I've kind of put them aside thinking they might be better once it's fall with a pair of socks. I don't know. I'm kind of disappointed as I wasn't expecting that. Maybe I haven't given them a fair shake yet.
Tag Fairy, please don't take my tag away. :sad2:

I couldn't believe they folded all the clothes either I wish it washed, but then knowing me, I'd wash it all again because who knows whose nasty hands touched it and whose other dirty laundry they were touching before. :rotfl: And they folded them rolled style, and everything was so neat! This has only happed once though.

Cindy - which version of Crocs do you have again? I wore my Nile ones down at Disney on some pretty hot days. My feet sweated a little bit but not anymore than I think they would have in other shoes. I didn't wear them all the time because with my bad ankle I usually wear my New Balance shoes and socks.
What about using some type of foot powder on your foot before putting them on. That could help.

I think it was morn when I tried to catch up on the post. boy you guys are chatty. LOL Anyhow wanted to intro myself and DH since our pics are now on the board. We are DVC members since 1996 and have enjoyed every minute. We been to HH many time (our 1st DVC trip and where we bought in) and love it. After the cruise it is my favorite. This will be our first member cruise but our 7th Disney cruise. We are a middle age couple leaving our semi grown kids at home(18-20-23). We are doing a family cruise in Jan with the darlings. We signed up this morn for the scavenger hunt after reading the post on this board THANK YOU For us it will be a way to meet others and have fun we are both a little on the shy side. We are going this afternoon to get our passports if we have them in time for this trip awesome if not we have them for January. Well back to reading and catching up Brenda
Welcome back to the thread, Brenda. I believe I have sent you a PM about the shirts already. If you are interested, just let me know. I think the plan is that we will be wearing them when we board the ship on 9/4.
I'm on a roll now.....
This is a better view of the "creek". Looks like high tide.

Man o Man, is work ever getting in the way of keeping up here. Ready for a kinda do nothing trip, that will really be a first for me, but I am sure we will stay active.
Vitamins are ok not in original packaging , we repackage our for daily use. Prescription meds should defiantly be in original packaging, current date etc.
Slowdown you guys I can’t keep up, LOL..... Just hope I don’t miss anything. Lynn will have to keep me up to date as I just skim these at time to keep up.
Cindy, Thanks so much for the HH photos. We definitely need to get a stay in there.
So much to look forward to.
Creme Burlee good, unbrulee bad. This is from our repo cruise.
Way to go Georgie.

Welcome Brenda! Wow we have some similarities. Our kids are 21, 20, 18, 11. The 3 older ones will be away at school and the 11 yo is staying with grandma and grandpa. We will be taking the whole family on a cruise in December. We're hooked on DCL & DVC. Ok, do you like blinkie flip flops, fish extenders and dyson vacuums? :rotfl:

Cindy your HH pictures are beautiful. It looks so relaxing!
Steve we're not going to be fighting over the Creme Brulee at dinner are we? One of the dining rooms serves creme brulee cheesecake - nope, doesn't cut it. On our last cruise with DCL our server brought me regular cb each night.
OK, I know what I'm having for dessert each night!

this board can become addicting. I think I am fairly caught up.
Don't know about blinkies flip flops the only blinkie i know of is what my niece use to call her security blanket way back when (18yrsago). Never heard of fish extenders either before this thread they sound like a good idea though. No sure about croc either boy I need to be updated. As far as vacuums go I hate to vacuum only do it when necessary if I can't get on of the kids to do it.
I was unable to go to HH this summer an man did I miss it We have gone every summer since 96. Loved the picture but they made me miss being there. Oh well sitting on CC will help off set it.
The address sticker idea is great I've been bring my stickers this for a long time. Keep the ideas coming.

Wow - you guys had a busy morning. I'm checking in at lunch and let me see if I can catch up. :)
Brenda - Nice to see you posting! Kay has brought you up to speed on shirts and Gail has covered blinkies, fish extenders and vacuums. Only two items left open. If you want to be included in the mini-navigator let me know and if you want to be included on the room tour let Lisa (hookdonwdw) or Amy (alikat99) know.
Cindy - Wonderful pictures of Hilton Head. Thanks for sharing them. We will definately have to plan a trip there in the future.
Steve - Creme Brulee - YUM!
Scott - Umbrulee - :confused3 or are we better off not knowing?
Georgie - Thank you for the wonderful song this morning! You would love our May '06 group. They do karoke every Friday morning!
Cheryl - Mark is a smoothie addict! The Smoothies on the ship at dinner are more like a milkshake. I think they come in Chocolate, Strawberry, Vanilla and maybe another flavor. You do get charged for them. Never had the sorbet on the ship. I do know that in addition to the regular desserts there are also no sugar added desserts. May have to try some of those this trip.
As for the contact form. I'm glad DVC is doing this. Better safe than sorry. I'm hoping and praying that the week surrounding the cruise will be storm free but just in case. We'll put in Mark's cell phone number since we'll be on the road for two of the three days. Here's hoping they don't have to call any of us!

I was thinking that maybe it was SO messy that they couldn't go through it effectively without folding it all up. And it wasn't just folded, it was nicely rolled they way you are supposed to pack a suitcase. It was almost like they were telling us we were slobs and should fold our clothes! :rotfl2: I should add that the day we were traveling the terrorism code was raised from yellow to orange, so they were looking for stuff!

Years ago, Gary & I were in Virginia at a restaurant where Gary ordered duck. It was prepared at our table and was a big production. When it was finished, they served it to Gary who thought it was tasty. Being the sheltered girl I am, I never had duck and had no desire to taste it. These 3-4 chefs stood around our table, insisting I tried it, even though I tried to decline. They would not take no thanks for an answer.
So, I reluctantly tried it and told them it tasted like chicken. :p

I'm still trying to find the perfect mix:
Usually its something like:
about 2 tablespoons of water
3 table spoons of frozen strawberries
1/2 a peach cut up
1 table spoon of ginger ale (sprite is ok)
1 table spoon of Orange Juice
1 teaspoon of peach juice
1 teaspoon of strawberry v8
1 teaspoon of lemon juice
I also then mix in my protein powder ( I won't be bringing that)
Most Smoothies are made with a Milk starter that can be eliminated.
Also to Diana: Mary could have tortured us more and used another song from a certain attraction in Magic Kingdom. :teeth:

Good afternoon, everyone! Thanks, Mary for the tip of the day - I love that idea!
I remember seeing the boat for the first time - I have about a hundred pictures from the bus of my first views of the boat, and yes, I cried! I'm just a soft-centered kind of girl - I cry at fireworks shows and every time during the Illuminations - especially the Christmas ones (even watching our taped ones, I cry)!
LOVED the pictures from Hilton Head - wow! I can't wait to go. My husband has been wanting to go for awhile now because he heard there's great golfing - is that so?
My husband always says vacation time is for us (immediate family, which in our case, is just the two of us) and holidays are for family. Any time we try to mix the two we end up with disaster! ;)
I'm looking forward to having a whole week with just my dh to relax - and that's not my style either. We usually try to plan one day that's unplanned and goes with the flow and end up with lots of activities even then! But, not this time - we need a chance for our souls to catch up with our bodies!
Thanks for the fun songs this morning! I needed that! A month away now! Yea!:flower:
When I was having my website designed, I wanted to use music with it. While the kids were working at the table on their whatever, I would go through several Disney songs. It was amazing how some of the tunes had the kids rocking to the beat and others didn't make them move.
I finally decided on "A brand new world" from Aladdin but "Zip pi tee Do Dah" was a close second. :cool1:

Funny story - My MIL made the mistake of telling us that she HATES that certain song in that certain MK attraction (you know the one, with all the little children). Anyway, we LOVE to torture her every time we go to MK (which is about once a month) and we call her on the cell phone and make her listen to the song. Most of the time she hangs up on us. My DH is a major practical joker, so she made a HUGE mistake telling her son.

Okay, I have to make sure I have kleenex's with me. I cry when we pull into the WDW grounds. I'm sure I'll have a reaction to the ship too.

Okay, I have to make sure I have kleenex's with me. I cry when we pull into the WDW grounds. I'm sure I'll have a reaction to the ship too.
Oh, you will be a mess once you see that ship. It's just awe-inspiring!!! I was pretty much giggling in the car as we were pulling over the bridge and the ship was in sight. I couldn't have gotten out of the car fast enough when we got there.

I'm SO glad I'm going to be around other people who get all teary! Last year, we took DD to see the Playhouse Disney show at MGM, she was 9 months old. When Bear came out, her face lit up and she said bear. I cried so hard I couldn't even take pictures!!

About that form on the DVC website, does anything think the timing on that is a little weird. All over the news and internet news there were articles yesterday about many more hurricanes and tropical storms coming. I'm starting to get nervous, maybe they can see the future or something?

Ya know, I've been living here long enough that I just don't worry about it anymore. DH just laughs when the NOAA comes out with updated predictions about the hurricanes. He always says they don't know how many hurricanes, it's just a guess. The only reason that they updated it is because if they didn't, then they would look like idiots when we've already had a bunch of storms already this year. Sure, August is usually peak hurricane season, but who knows what's gonna happen. However, I'm glad that DVC is making sure that we will be updated.

I was totally ok with the whole traveling during hurricane season, even with the news stuff yesterday.....but I have to admit the special form freaked me out a bit.
But the way you put it Amy, you are 100% right. It's like snowstorms here. How many times have they said 2-4 inches and we wake up to 18 and vice versa. All this technology and they still have no clue what the weather is going to do.
OK--I'm done worrying about the weather. Move along....nothing to see here!

What if you enlisted help from the front desk at check in --or do it yourself:
Write up a flyer stating there is a DVC member block party for cruisers and non-cruisers(similar to what Diana Lyn) mentioned. Include the flyer w/ the Welcome Home packet at check -in so DS won't be so wise to your plans. Just mention "Oh-Maybe we'll check this out, never been, let's see what it's about , maybe we'll get free stuff, we can check out the Mrketplace, etc.
Either that or as you said--cut out and come on your own!

Cindy those sand dollars are cool looking. I can't believe the dolphins were that close.
Since alot of people come down early before the cruise, if there are any changes DCL has no way of contacting anyone if they're not at their home. I think DVC/DCL just wanted to be more prepared to let passenagers know of changes with as much notice as possible. We cruised Sept 2003 when Isabelle was out there making a mess. Friday before our cruise they switched our Nassau & CC days. I guess they wanted to make sure that we definitely made it to CC. Obviously it wasn't nearly as big of a problem as they went through last year.
Marie, I think Nezy came up with a great idea. As Amy pointed out they probably will have an announcement in the Welcome Home packet, but bring your own just in case. I think you could really pull it off that way. Remember there will be people there cruising and others that are just there for the DVC party.

I have a curious question on the scavenger hunt. Someone (Kay or Jenny maybe?) posted that people would be put in groups of 8. Do you get to pick your group or is it random? I would think that it would be more fun if you could do it with others you knew. Like those of you from the repo cruise or a group from this thread. Wonder how they'll handle it.
We won't be doing it but it should be fun to watch. I'm assuming they are going to have some type of public start and public finish to it. At least I hope so.

There seemed to be an expressed interest in a stateroom tour a few days ago. It was talked about, but never really went anywhere. Please respond if you are interested in attending, or having your stateroom on the tour.

I'm still looking for rooms in the other categories. If you'd like to volunteer your room, and haven't yet, please let me know (even if your category is already taken). Welcome back to the group, Cyndy!! We're glad to see you here. We've been quite the chatty group, so I can't blame you for not wanting to read every page.
Mary can give you more details, but basically the mini Navigator is a sheet with the names & stateroom numbers of those on our list. Mary will only put your name and cabin number if you want to be included.
Amy-I cannot believe you have not tried Creme Brulee!!Yum-Yum-YUMMY!!
(It is also fun to say-CREME BRULEE. it makes me sound like I can speak a foreign language).
So, since we may all be staying in different resorts, how about resort tour?(I'm kidding sort-of) I would love to stay at the Poly sometime.
Hilton Head-I love it. I actually have a week booked thru Interval Internatioinal. We also own at Marriott and we got a free week at only certain locations and time of year for trading or something. One of the options was HH in October. I figured we would get some resort timeshare I have never been to, but the II ressie guy said we only have a 2 BR @ Disney's resort. I said NO PROBLEM!! Haven't told anyone. :rolleyes1 DH gets a little worried about the $ w/ all of these trips I plan. (It is also fun to say-CREME BRULEE. it makes me sound like I can speak a foreign language).
I know, it's shocking, isn't it!?!?!? I'm sure that I'd love it, because I don't think that I've ever met a dessert that I didn't love.

Does anyone have a teen that is going on the wild side at Castaway Cay? My 14 yr old is going and wanted to know.
Have we heard any thing else about the el. cars in Key West?
I'm having trouble waiting for this cruise. It's going to be a real fun cruise!!! :cool1:

Amy - The picture of your girls is just adorable, make me want to pinch Madison's cheeks (sorry that was the italian in me, now I'll have nightmares of one Aunt that always did the double cheek pinch and shake, sends chills down my spine just remenbering it) princess:
Thanks so much!! They are cuties, but I'm a little biased. Can you believe that was the quickest photo sitting we have ever done? They were so good that day!!!

I like creme brulee but like chocolate more.
See, that's me!! Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate. That's probably why I've never tried creme brulee. Maybe I'll just have to order 2 desserts, one with chocolate and one creme brulee.

Diana Lyn - can't wait to meet you, especially since we only live a hop, skip, & a jump away from each other! :maleficen
Once again, gone for a few hours, and it just takes forever to catch up. There are so many things I want to reply too! I'll start here.
Stacey--I have several of those cheek pinching italian aunts, so I know what you are talking about. Madison--RUN RUN FAR AWAY FROM STACEY!!!
I can't wait to meet you either. It's so funny to meet someone so close!
Creme Brulee--OK, so I speak French, majored in it in College. Worked at US Customs speaking French the entire day, and all I see when I read creme brulee is BURNT!! I can't get past it, sorry. I does look good and I always pass it up because like someone else said, I'm a chocolate lover and there's always something chocolate. Maybe this will be my big chance to try it out.

I've started reading the posts when this thread started but since our June WDW trip I've been so busy at work that I haven't even looked at the thread, so last night I began reading on about pg 185 or wherever it said go to 1st unread post.....before I gave up and went to bed, my eyes were so crossed that the left one was winking at the right one. I finally gave up and moved to the last few pages, I just don't know where to look to find out about the mini navagator. Mary can you enlightn me?
Welcome back Cyndy. Check out Mark and Mary's website. Mark did a great job of taking notes while we all chatted and shopped. That's a quick way to catch up on everything!

Hi Cyndy. Amy did a good job of describing it. The mini navigator will be an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet folded in half. It will be on lime green paper. The front will list the DIS events (Dis Meet at Pleasure Island, Dis Meet on the ship, Scrapbook class, Stateroom tour). Inside will be a listing of all the Dis'ers who want to be listed (dis name, real names, and room number). I leave the back blank to take notes. It can be used so you can tour the decks and see the Dis'ers door signs, or to call and leave a message for a Dis'er if you want to get together for breakfast, lunch or some other time. Since not everyone wants their room numbers listed we are asking permission to put you in the navigator. If you want to be included just let me know here or in pm. If you want to be included I'll need your room number since we don't have it.
If you haven't done so click here (http://monorailgreen.info/member2005/index.htm)to get to the web page that Mark did. It will explain how to get in contact with him for buttons - hurry the deadline is fast approaching. It will also bring you up to date on what is being planned. Last, but not least, if you haven't ordered your DIS Member Cruise t-shirts contact Kay (krdisneybound) as she is in charge of them.

Holy Cow you guys! I leave to go car shopping and soccer practice and I have to spend 20 minutes just catching up. Catching up is fun!
Steve - it was the gold lamai (sp) bikini shower show - I'll have John enlighten you on it. Think Herbal Essence commercial!
Linda those pictures are beautiful. I pick E. I think the picture with the bubbles is really a neat picture.
Amy, Diana, Cindy and anyone else - don't forget you can try the Creme Brulee and a chocolate dessert. If you don't like the CB, bring it to our table and one of us will finish it. I don't know if I could handle a CB eating contest but it would be cool to watch. I have seen Steve eat those wing things at Hooters - I can't imagine how much creme brulee he could eat.
Ok, I have to go back and see if I missed anything - I'm sure I did.

WOW ! I finally caught up on my reading.
I posted on here this morning , and it seems like weeks ago from the number of posts since then. You guys have got me doing more reading this month than I have done in the last three months.
Diana Lyn, the cheek pinching aunts that Stacy mentioned are my relatives :rotfl2:

Now I will admit that I bowed to peer pressure on blinkies and Mickey Mouse folders. I even contemplated a Dyson. I cannot afford a new car! :rotfl2:

Im caught up again!
I was able to sneak upstairs as DH is working late again... :( Sigh..
he so needs this trip.
I took y crocs on a teat walk.
They feel good, but they seem to run a bit big..
I only wear a 6-6 1/2.
I got the small. but I think I can a youth size.
I will gladly donate my creme brulee(spelling,, I stink at it)
Anyway, YUCK!!!!
Im much more into fried, crunchy food.
I like creme brulee but like chocolate more. I like moonlit walks, but maybe not with Henry. I don't mind crocs, but I'll leave them for Peter Pan and Captain Hook (ha!) I will enjoy seeing the blinkies, but will leave those for people who don't have trouble walking in them (won't it be fun to see them weaving on deck after a few konk koolers - pretty lights!) Most of all I like this group and I'm not giving you up! 30 more days - yipppeeeee!
Very cute! :cool1:

YES Gail, Gold Lame` is her! She wore that bikini ALL the time I will dig up a photo to remind John.

OMG, my kids would have a blast. They call beetles "punch buggies" and give each other a slug in the arm. :rotfl2:
This summer they've come up with names for all sorts of things -- school buses are big bananas, yellow cars are shark bites, convertibles are top downs, light blue cars are powder puffs, fire trucks with lights going are chili peppers, red cars are tomatoes, limos are caterpillars.
It actually breaks up the car ride with all the kids on the lookout.

Mark just posted this on our other cruise thread the other day.
When Mary and I talk new beetles, we have some code...
A standard bug is a plain vanilla.
One with a with a rear spoiler below the glass has a handle(early ones had an optional one that looked like a handle).
One with the spoiler above the glass has turbonium(from an early VW commercial)
One with a sunroof has a lobotomy.
One with a convertible top has a toupee..

No fear, Mary. We'll join you. My DH has been dying for a car. But I tell him, his Honda Civic still has at least 10 years of life left in it. And, he's NOT getting a new one (Gary, did you read that -- Mr. Lurker you are  !).

I forgot to tell you guys this, we went to Party City tonight to get the remainder of the Wiggles Bday supplies I need for the big party. Well, we are going down an aisle and Emma says HAT. OK, she has a hat fetish, it follows my shoe fetish. HAT HAT HAT. Ok, what does she want now? I'm already spending a million dollars on wiggles party stuff.
It's a pirate hat!! I swear she reads these boards!! So for 1.49 I got her a plastic pirate hat plus some pirate tatoos. So one of us will be wearing pirate gear on the cruise!

Much, much better than top down. I'll have to teach the kids that one tomorrow. :rotfl2: Good thing all of their dad's have hair. :rotfl2:
