Bobby was the "mascot" for our December cruise last year. Since then he has traveled with some of us but mostly he has lived with me. I need to send him to visit some of the others. Maybe Dennis and Angie will take him home after this cruise. :thumbsup2

Got to watch a new "Heroes" tonight. Then I was in the store and saw a TV Guide that said Jorja Fox "Back on CSI". I couldn't find the article though. I just read she is leaving this month for good.

For the first time had to go get DD at Pre-K. Poor thing had a tummy ache and an um "accident". Around nap time, she was still complaining of a hurt tummy so I went and got her. And to think I was supposed to be out doing errands today. Good thing I stayed home. I think she has like a reverse homesickness and really misses her daddy who left yesterday.

We still have not carved pumpkins either.

Nope, born in Brooklyn, spend 3 months there, then on to SI, then on to Josiey when he was 5. 99.9 % of DH's shirts are Disney, even the polo ones. Can you guess who does the shopping here :yay: . He does own may Grumpy shirts though.

I have no idea if he will come with me or not to the DIs meets, I will know when I get there.

We are trying to plan a date night at WDW  and are torn on which restaurant to go to. If you had to pick only one restaurant in the Epcot World Showcase to go to, which one would it be? We are looking for a romantic setting (well as much as possible with the 2 year old in tow). We have a couple in mind but were curious what others thought based on their past experiences. Thanks.

Here are my top picks,

-Chefs de France/ Bistro de Paris (they have adorable Ratatouille menus for your daughter)
-Le Cellier
-Tepon Edo (The new/recently refurbished hibachi restaurant in Japan)

Are you staying for a vacation or just for the evening? If you are on a vacation, consider doing the premium myw package. You get a private Illuminations viewing included  (ok i just noticed you are from texas, so chances are you're on vacation!)

DH and I have had 2 date nites at WDW, 5 years ago we went to the Yachtman's Steakhouse, with DS7 monthns in tow. DD5 was in the Neverland Club. This past summer we left them both at Simba's Clubhouse and went to Ragland Road in Downtown Disney. Ragland Road rocked!!

:confused3 I didn't post that?? Ok, not today, anyway...;)

This will be my first cruise and first trip outside the U.S. other than a drive-by of Canada.

we're from Tennessee, traveling w/ mother in law. husband (39), son (10) and daughter (5); sister-in-law (30-something) and brother in-law (30 something); another sister in-law (30-something) and her son (13).

We can't wait.

Welcome! Our first cruise too, also a 4.9 yo dd...and as a Canadian curious about your "drive by"! Oh, and we're considering Tennessee next summer, will have to pick your brain--travelling in August and people keep telling me Tx will be too hot, so mountains seem like a good idea...

:welcome:

:lmao:
Speaking of... DH travels more then I so he got "Clear" and goes through the other extra short line for Security.. Well he generally takes the bag so I can just walk through and catch up to him a little faster.. Well coming home he had his bag opened and searched.. What was inside?.. :scared1: A Red Velvet Cape with hood I got on sale while in FL to bring home for Halloween, Barretts, BC Pills, 4- 9 volt batteries, a pack of Pantyhose, also bought on sale in FL, a Star Magazine & Pen, oh and a bag of Candy we got from the MNSSHP.. :rotfl2: I wish I was there to see the woman's face when she searched "his" bag..

:lmao: :rotfl2:

For the first time had to go get DD at Pre-K. Poor thing had a tummy ache and an um "accident". Around nap time, she was still complaining of a hurt tummy so I went and got her. Really great looking, Emi! I picked out a few bargains today too, including some swim shoes for the kids, wrong season to find them here. Usually we don't order from Disney Shopping b/c the shipping to Canada is outrageous, but dh is in NC on business so I'm having it shipped to his hotel. Gotta love a bargain! :thumbsup2

We did an evening of stopping at several places for little interesting bits. The most romantic spot was the terrace outside the counter-service place in Japan, it was late, dark, we got a table off by ourselves near one of the trickling fountains...it was lovely. We had a sitter that night, but nothing put my kids to sleep like a "push" around in the stroller in the evening; good luck!

We used Simba's last time too, the kids loved it...part of the reason I wanted to try the cruise, I don't feel guilty leaving the kids if I know they're having fun!

Anyway, caught up now! :cool1:

Went to the DCL Site and still No High Tea.. I guess it's a lost cause.. Maybe we will luck on once on the ship..

Oh and I read this while I was there...

Tropical Weather Update

As of 1 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2007:

Guests sailing November 1st who have questions regarding their voyage and the effects of Tropical Storm Noel should be aware that the safety of our guests and crew is always our first priority at Disney Cruise LineŽ and we continually monitor a storm's progress through the National Weather Service.

Based upon the current projections of the storm's path, we do not anticipate a need to alter our departure from Port Canaveral, FL.

Should weather conditions change, our Captain can alter the ship's course or itinerary for the safety and well being of our guests.

I missed this earlier.. I'm sorry your DD is having a bad day.. I hope she is feeling better.. I hate tummy aches :guilty:

Thank you. I think we all had our share of "accidents" in our school career. She who loves school and wishes she could go 7 days a week was obviously not feeling to well today. There have been reports of a little bug going around. I did a modified BRAT diet when we got home and did a shot of immodium for children.

It was time to change out the spare clothes anyway from shorts and a t-shirt to velour pants and a warm baseball jersey type shirt from BIG DOGS. The paranoid mommy in me went online and got all sorts of scary diagnosis about hurt tum-tums. That was no fun either.

Morocco is number 1 and Living Seas number 2

Not at Epcot, but nearby. DrHug just said Spoodles at Boardwalk. The food there was magnificent! It is hard to find a romantic atmosphere. They all pack the tables close and there is lots of noise. Not that we are complaining about that. They have to seat lots and lots of people and those people have children so we expect noise. No little tables tucked away for romance that we have found. Fish and Chips counter service sitting by the water is about the closest to romantic we have found. We do LOVE them all though and can't wait to get back down there.

So I said "well, then we might want to consider rebooking on board because we could get a really good deal that way."

And, I swear, his head snapped around and he said "We haven't even gone on this one yet and you want to book another one?!" :lmao: :rotfl2: I told him it was just something he should consider if we have a really good time on this one. Like I said, he's not the planner in the family.

We are on the Magic right before drydock next September. We disembark on September 6th. Then, it heads to VA for drydock. I hope they don't start the renovations while we are still onboard. We took advantage of rebooking onboard with the 10% discount and onboard credits. Then, we transferred the reservation to AAA and kept the discount and onboard credits. Then, we got additional AAA onboards credits. So, all our tips are already paid for before we even step onboard with money left over for a few Midori Coladas. :cool1:

We used DU for our second cruise and again for his one. Since we were within the window of "final payment due," I knew I had to go straight through the TA if I wanted an onboard credit since it seems you can't get one if you transfer after final payment has been made.

It paid off though... when I got the quote for them, they actually quoted me a bigger onboard credit than was listed on the website. So I'll take it. :thumbsup2

Y'all are forewarned, Bill informed me this weekend that he has an upcoming business trip scheduled in November. I was up at all hours of the night the last time he went away. So, future late night rambles could soon follow. I apologize in advance. :rotfl:

We used DU for our second cruise and again for his one. Since we were within the window of "final payment due," I knew I had to go straight through the TA if I wanted an onboard credit since it seems you can't get one if you transfer after final payment has been made.

It paid off though... when I got the quote for them, they actually quoted me a bigger onboard credit than was listed on the website. So I'll take it. :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 I'm glad that worked out for you. See. . . another positive experience with DU.

We planned to transfer our current cruise to DU. But, our AAA Rep has left and the new Rep has no clue about DCL or our reservation. So, we were afraid to have her in our reservation poking around. We figure if she leaves it alone, it should be fine. :rotfl:

I've heard other people say they don't like DU cause they're almost completely email based, it takes time to get answers and quotes, etc. But I figure I'm one of those people that does enough research and such that I don't really need a TA for much. If they're willing to give me an onboard credit out of their commission and it doesn't cost any more than booking directly with Disney, I figure why not? :confused3 But I can understand why a person who was unfamiliar with Disney and needed a little more hand-holding might be turned off by DU.

Good Morning!

Are you gals still up? I've spent the last half hour calling Jasmine, trying to wake her up. Usually when I call her she's up and awake. Last night she started feeling sick, so I figured if I'd let her stay home today and sleep it off if needed. (Didn't tell her that).

But when she wasn't answering either her cell or the home phone then I started to get a bit worried. My neighbors all keep an eye out for her at the bus stop, and make sure she's there each morning, so I was going to have one go by and check on her. Then I finally got thru. I had her call the neighbors while I was on the phone with her, then told her to take some Sudafed and go back to bed.

Are you guys driving to Florida in December?

TheTXTaylors5

That's my biggest fear... being too out of it if an emergency comes along. I just know the night I decide to take something to put me out will be the night the next "big one" hits out here. And DH is such a heavy sleeper, I feel like I have to be the one to scream hysterically. :lmao:

When I was younger, my sister and I visited family in San Diego. I was in a dead sleep when I felt my bed shaking a little and then the pictures on the wall were banging a little against the wall. It was a really "mild" earthquake. But, a weird experience and one I still remember to this day. Usually in the movies, things are banging everywhere and chairs and tables are sliding across the floor. But, what I experienced was pretty mild. My Aunt and Uncle didn't even wake up. I guess they were use to it.

The main thing we have to worry about around here are tornados. But, we are out of that season right now. We have really weird seasons in Texas. I will never get use to not having a "true" winter. We have maybe one or two days the most of snow flurries. Even then, it doesn't stick. We keep promising the kids we will go see snow one year. So, they can finally go sledding.

I was very impressed with DU when we were having difficulties booking our Palo and excursions at the 90 day mark because the DCL site wasn't working properly. Our AAA office just had a message when we called them. But, Angie (MrsMork) got a response from DU online within half an hour. :thumbsup2

well I am having no luck what-so-ever with trying to get this note, the doctors office told me to call the people that provided the device then they told me I need a serial number which I called the doctor back and they don't have it so I called the hospital and they transfer me then they transfer me then they transfer me then they transfer me........... :furious: finally the last person told me to call back tomorrow as everyone who would know something is gone.......my question is why wouldn't they be able to just pull up his chart and get the serial number........ I use to work for medical records and it is not that hard.... It's just that no body wants to do it, I was angry when the doctors nurse said if I needed any further assistance just give them a call :sad2: , like hello I think it is their job to do the chasing seeing how they never applied for the card. The lady from the device place was very kind she tried everything to look him up but could not find anything where as everyone else keeps pawning me off...........

OK I feel much better now, thanks for letting me vent.

I'm so sorry you had to go thru that. Not enough you had to endure the trauma of surgery on your son. Now you get passed around like a plate of cheese and crackers. :headache: I have a lot of posts to catch up on. Hopefully by the time I get caught up, you'll have gotten your note.

Hi Julie!
I grew up in CA, and have been thru quite a few earthquakes. What gets me is when they go on and on and you don't know when/if they are ever going to end.

Believe it or not, I still haven't seen any Starbucks here. :scared1: Well not for sure, I THINK I saw one downtown once, but I could be thinking of another city.

The Med cruise was a killer. At least we were on the 11 day, so we had 3 sea days. On the 10 day cruise I heard from the CMs that all the guests were in bed by 9pm one night. She said it was "really weird."

Initially, we put our DISdog in his crate to house train him. Then, we use to put him in his crate when we left the house for long periods of time. Now, he only goes in the crate if we have guests that don't like dogs. I can't put him in the backyard because he will jump and bark at the back door until I let him in. He is a brat. He has his own doggie bed in our room and still ends up by my feet in our bed. He's in the office right now by my feet. So, I guess he's not all that bad. He's a great foot warmer. :lmao:

Nope, I got sidetracked looking at the luggage on the Disney shopping site. I saw that the have free shipping for $60 and up. So I was trying to find stuff I actually need to make up the difference. Found a Stitch trailer hitch cover for $4.99, but that only brought it up to $59.98. So I finally found something to put in the basket, only to find that the luggage isn't eligible for free shipping. :headache:

Now I figure I'll see what can of deals I can get on Ebags using the Mousesaver discount.

Hope your DD feels better soon! :flower3:

Others on here have transferred their onboard reservations to the site sponsor "Dreams Unlimited". They have rave reviews. So, we plan to use them in the future.

- Jennifer

We've used DU for all but our first cruise. Our local travel agent got the cruise reservation right, but she forgot to put my FIL on the resorts or the transportation. I was able to straighten that out, but never went back to her! We've used Merrie at DU and she's always been great!

- Jennifer

Every now and then we have earthquakes here in NJ. Nothing big, but I can remember the first summer I was married we had a quake that was strong enough that my new dishes fell off of the shelves. Thank goodness we had carpet in that apartment! We lived right along the edge of the Delaware River in the small town of Florence at that time.

:sad2: Our dog refuses to go outside when it is raining. He'll stand there and look at me and then look outside and then back at me again with those puppy-dog eyes. Like I can control the rain to make it stop. He is a weird dog. :rolleyes1

- Jennifer

Our dogs all hate the rain, but love snow! Once they know it's snowing outside, they throw themselves against doors and windows to get outside and play in it.

OK, I'm all caught up! I fell asleep early last night, and had a busy morning this morning. Today was "treatment day" for my DIL. Last month's treatment didn't "hold", so she's trying again this month. If this month doesn't work, she's skipping next month because we'll all be in Florida, and then in January they will try another approach. The way it's being done now doesn't result in "multiples" any more than the natural way would. Of course, if it does work, she'll find out while we're on vacation--that would be really cool! So once again, some prayers and pixie dust would be appreciated!

I suggested to Jim that he might find himself in one of the bars with the rest of the DIS males drinking beer. He's threatening to start a thread for "abandoned DIS husbands on the Dec. 8 cruise".

He's also starting to think about cruising next year. "The kids" want to cruise in the very early spring if the treatment works this month so that they can still cruise before she's 24 weeks. They want to do just a short (probably four night) cruise, and of course we'll have to go with them! We're thinking about a longer cruise in the fall, but that, too, will depend on how things are progressing on the pregnancy front! I'd need to be home when the "big day" approaches.

Wendy, I hope Jasmine is feeling better!

Amber, I hope your DD is feeling better, too!

Everybody needs to start getting healthy!

So I said "well, then we might want to consider rebooking on board because we could get a really good deal that way."

And, I swear, his head snapped around and he said "

Julie, if you get a Disney Visa card before you cruise, you can rebook onboard and you'll have 6 months to decide whether or not you want to take the cruise, before you'll have to pay the deposit off!

I recommend the Oct 25th cruise to Costa Maya, Cozumel, and a double dip at Castaway Cay. Plus, you'll have halloween onboard the ship, and can do the MNSSHP before or after! I just booked Jasmine and I, and the prices were pretty reasonable. I'm planning on cancelling and rebooking onboard, as long as the prices haven't gone up so much that it doesn't make sense to do so.

Good morning, Jennifer!

Anyway... yeah, I think I read somewhere that they started tearing up carpets before a drydock once. :scared: That being said, I'm thinking if the cruise isn't full, they'll probably upgrade everyone so they can have as much of Deck 1 and 2 free if they wanted to start a bit early.

Optimism anyway :)

The 5 day double dip right before the Dry dock is already sold out!

FUTURE LATE NIGHT POSTS WARNING:

Y'all are forewarned, Bill informed me this weekend that he has an upcoming business trip scheduled in November. I was up at all hours of the night the last time he went away. So, future late night rambles could soon follow. I apologize in advance. :rotfl:

- Jennifer

Ramble Away. :yay:

Also, when I make pancakes. . . I make Mickey head pancakes. :rolleyes1

- Jennifer

I actually picked up a Mickey Mouse pancake shaper at WDW a few years back.

I suggested to Jim that he might find himself in one of the bars with the rest of the DIS males drinking beer. He's threatening to start a thread for "abandoned DIS husbands on the Dec. 8 cruise".

DU does email, but I have to again give them kudos. When we were booking at the 90 day mark at midnight, I sent an email about the problems I was having, expecting to not hear back until Monday and I got an email reply within minutes saying she had looked at my ressie and it should be ok. Wow! Midnight on a weekend. That is good customer service!

Yes, DU did the same for me, and then helped me get back all of my lost reservations when I changed to the Cat. 12 GTY! I can't imagine booking a trip without their help now! They also saved me some money on the "after cruise" stay at Port Orleans Riverside, although they couldn't get me a discount on the "before cruise" Animal Kingdom Lodge because I had a pool view and the discount was only for standard view. My only complaint with them is that they can't book sites at Fort Wilderness. I actually had to do that myself!

Dusted the Living Room... Time for a :surfweb:

OK, so I have to ask you ALL... Who makes Lists of Planning things?

DH thinks I'm nuts.. I think it is part of my OCD.. Only never realised it until now.. I make Lists all the time.. Not just 1 or once but like 3 or 4 at a time for things.. K, here is an example..

We were on the plane to come home Sunday morning and I remembered something else I needed for the December cruise.. So into my bag I go and I pulled out a Wad of paper and a pen.. Not sure why.. But I can't keep lists in a notebook.. They have to be seperate.. :confused3 Ok so anyway.. DH looks over and asks what's all that.. and I said my lists.. He said of what.. and I showed him.. :rolleyes1

He looks them over, hands them back, :sad2: and says to me... Do you know you have a Compulsion Planning problem.. I took the lists and I said Yes, ::yes:: Yes I do and Thank You very much for noticing

I had several Lists.. One of each.. I can't seem to put them on 1 Big page.. I need them on small seperate ones.. :guilty:

What clothes I have in FL
What clothes DH has in FL
What clothes DS has in FL
What Makeup I have in FL
What Makeup I have in my Travel Bag *currently in FL for the cruise*
What clothes I need from NJ for the cruise
What clothes DH needs from NJ for the cruise
Measurements of ALL the windows of the FL house *Proudly on 1 sheet*

Is This Normal ?

Cause I'm starting to think having 8 seperate lists may not be so normal.. :coffee:

Off for another room.. Back in a Jiff..

I don't have a wad of paper, I keep my Palm Pilot with me at all times, and it contains all of the following:

My lists aren't quite as bad, but that may be because I have only one house. I have all of our clothing sizes, I have packing lists--business travel, vacation travel, camping travel, what I still need to buy (exciting stuff like aspirin, bandaids, etc.), lists of people I need to buy souvenirs for, and the things I might like to get for them. I also have number of windows in each room and size of each, dimensions of each room, dimensions of our property, and scanned color swatches of the stuff in every room. You never know when you're going to run into some good bargains, right?

I also have bunches of photographs stored (wanna see pictures of my family? house? cats? dogs? guinea pigs? hamster?). I'll take those out while I'm traveling so that I can store pictures that I take during the trip (Did I remember to take a picture of the Mickey statue in the atrium? Yes, there it is!)

And of course, all those "Notes to Self" that would otherwise run wild in my purse (What room was pfishgirl in? What time the wine tasting? Where I am having dinner on Dec 7?).

Without my Palm Pilot I'd be a complete disaster!

I have a list-making program that sorts everything so that I can see what's already on the list. I can check things off and then see either the checked or unchecked stuff, or everything. It also has an alarm clock program which was really handy today since my alarm clock broke yesterday and never went off in the AM! Fortunately, my body clock knows when it's time to get up, and I woke up within one minute of the usual time anyway. I think I've become way too predicatable!:sad2:

Hey, if you think of something randomly, how else are you going to remember it? :confused3

Definitely a list maker. Especially for entertaining/cleaning--had a kid-party on the w/e and I had to make my to-do list before I could sleep a few days before...mostly so I can feel like I'm getting somewhere, like "clean counter clutter"--check! Otherwise it feels like I've not made progress!

And yes, cleaning warrants reward breaks. :thumbsup2

I use the Splash Suite on my phone. There's one password protected application that lets you store all of your frequent flyer numbers, passwords, etc. I miss the Splash Shopper they used to have. Jasmine caught something the last few days of our first Disney cruise. We were at the character breakfast and she threw up into her napkin. She refused to leave though before she saw the characters. So we've got all these cute photos of Jasmine smiling happily with the characters, with a plate full of crackers in front of her. I think she threw up twice in between the characters but you'd never know from the pics. At the time we thought it was seasickness. But she woke up a few days later - disembarkation day and was throwing up all over the place. She threw up in the terminal, she threw up on the bus. I got a wheelchair for her in the airport, but she threw up right until we got on the plane. Luckily it was nonstop back to LA, and she slept the whole way.

I think it was about 6 months later that we were in a garden store, and we saw one of those fountains where water comes out of an animals mouth. Jasmine said, "that looks like Jasmine on the Disney cruise!" Glad she could laugh about it. ;)
