Miss missy…. Hope your feeling okay. So sorry about your car.
Disney-cruiser Welcome. Thanks for the info on the circle journal. Had never heard of one. You’ve got me thinking……
Denise… you did all of those beautiful Christmas shirts. You’ve got to use some of them!!
Marti So glad you are feeling better. Of course we missed you!
Kristen… yes it was an insane moment!! BTW, how did it go? I’m sure it was wonderful…
Even though I would like to go tomorrow, I really need to wait a bit and plan. Plus, I need to take my DGD with me. So I'll have to wait until May. Really. I have to wait until May. Even though I can get $118 RT airfare and be able to meet triplefigs and go to the MVMCP. And see the Osborne lights. :rolleyes1
Nope. gonna wait until May.
So I need to get cracking on the shirts. I''l start planning shirts for the May trip. And then the May 2007 cruise. :cheer2:
Okay, I'm stepping away from the credit card and logging off the Southwest website..... :p :bitelip: :bitelip:

eeyore--speaking of migraines--I found out that Equal attributed to my number of migraines,,,since i stopped using it, they have lessened but now if I get near any really bad smells,,bleach, cleaning products, obnoxious perfumes I am down for the count :headache:
Ditto. I avoid all artificial sweetners. I blame my mother and her addiction to Sweet and Low. I am the same with cleaners, too - they kill me. Vinegar and baking soda are my friends.
PS... that eyeball picture was GROSS. If I have nightmares tonight.... :p

Yes - for medical reasons - it is okay - and you still are drinking a cokek product
the rest of you better produce some doctor's notes!!! ;)
I am DEFINITELY a Coke Kid. Cannot stand Pepsi. But I don't drink it often... does that still count?!?!? :confused3

That is fine!!
Funny thing is - I really do hate Pepsi and boycotted them for years - but as I got older I let my hostility go -
when I was in college a Pepsi semi slammed into the side of my cute little jeep - crushing it - luckily he hit the passenger side and I was alone -
pepsi told me that I was over the a double yellow line and it was my fault (uh - yeah - my car was over a double yellow line AFTER a semi slammed into the side of it)
he was pulling out of a parking lot and a bus waved him out - I pulled to the side of a bus into a left turn lane - the truck swung wide to pull out in front of the bus and hit me
my insurance company paid for it but I think they sued Pepsi over it - it was clearly my fault and they refused to accept ANY responsibility - despite police reports to the contrary!!

I worked tonight so my dh had the kids from 5 - 10:30. As soon as I got home he went to bed. I guess the kids wore him out too. Isn't it funny that we have them most of the time and aren't completely wiped out. That's ok it gives me more DIS time. I am however drinking flavored water tonight as I'd like to get to bed at some point.

Kate,
My son really likes this design that you have done, but it isn't his birthday.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b148/DisneyTShirts/birthdaydudd.jpg
Could I ask you to change it to say "Having a righteous time, Dude" ("time" in place of "birthday")? We are putting your other Crush design "woaaahh" on the other side of the shirt.
Would you like me to send you a PM?
Thanks, thanks, thanks!

OK ... the truth is ... I fell asleep somewhere after 8 tonight and just woke up. Please tell me I'm not still dreaming?!?!?! I LOVE this design!!! Thank you SO much!
I thinkit's great how we have one design ... and then another DDA'er can take that design and add to it or change it some how into a whole new design. The collaboration on this thread is SO wonderful!
Thank you ALL so much for sharing your talents!

OK all my fellow DDAs -- now is the time to get out the pixie dust. DH (Paul) finally went to the doctor today and now has a sinus infection. I don't know where he could have gotten that :rolleyes1 He's in bed now, rarely gets sick, and I KNOW he got sick because he was taking such good care of me. Could we all send a little PD his way? Send him a PM if you feel like cheering him up.
Thanks guys.

I appreciate all the well-wishes. Unfortunately, my surgery was on my stomach, so laughing hurts. It feels good mentally, but physically, ouch! I can't complain too loudly, though. I did this to myself. I just had gastric bypass. It was a really hard decision, but I really decided I want to be around to raise my kids. My mom just went through 7 bypasses, double knee replacement, and type 2 diabetes. I don't want to go through that. I've tried for 14 years to lose weight, and due to a medical condition I have I just can't lose. So this was my option. Once I hit my goal weight, DH said I can have the trip of my choosing. So, I'll be coming to you all for advice.
Sorry this is OT. Hope no one's offended.
Sending wishes for a speedy recovery. :grouphug: My mom had that surgery last year. I know how hard it was for her to recover. Best wishes and good luck to you and your family.

the transfer paper store on Ebay is : Heat Transfer Supplies
and the Ebay ID is : mariettaangie
And for the dark iron-ons, I want to select: HEAT TRANSFER PAPER / DARK COLORS 5 SHEETS / IRON ON
You passed on the "large" sheets - 11x17, right?
Is this all correct?

The thing is .. both DH and I are larger people. I made t-shirts for my son's birthday party a couple years ago. I used 8 1/2 x 11 sheets on the kids .. and they came out great, but on our shirts (2X & 3X) they looked lost. to fix that, I used one sheet for the main graphic and them part of another sheet for the wording below -- to make the overall design bigger.
DH is telling me now ... just sveon the shipping -- buy the 11x17 and we'll but them in half for Ben's

The big questions is: will your printer hold 11X17 paper?
I thought about doing this, but my printer will only accept paper that is up to 8 1/2 or 9 inches wide.

Dhs are funny, aren't they. Usually my DH works a late shift 2 weeks out of the month, so I get home from work, make dinner, clean up, shuttle the kids to whatever activities they have, do baths, books and bed, all while he is at work. Well, for the past month I have been put on a special assignment where I am working late, so now my DH has to do all that. After a week and a half he says to me "I don't know how single parents do it." HELLO! What does he think my life is like when he is at work?! Cracks me up.
Paul - feel better soon. I'm sure Marti will take as good of care of you as you did of her. I hear people blaming sinus infections on the change of weather. I don't where what is like where you are but here it has been in the 50's one week and the 70's the next. Our bodies can't keep up with the drastic changes in temps. Now Nurse Denise will prob. come along a refute this old wives tale. :)
I love all the new designs that have been posted. Great work everyone.

Just wanted to post a pic of the nine of us in our Halloween costumes. We went as Disney pirates.
We had a blast at the party and got tons of attention in these vests. We must have had at least 100 people stop and compliment us! We also got special pictures taken and had a lot of fun dancing with the singing pirates by POC. The individual pics are cool too but I don't have those available yet.
My MIL had the striped shirt and made a red Smee hat and wore her reading glasses. Smee fussed over her everytime he saw her!

Don't wash the shirt again... there really is no need and you don't want anything to happen to it in the washer. After your trip when its time to wash them, do so inside out with no bleach or fabric softner. Otherwise I think it lifts the transfer off the shirt.
Have a great time -- so wish it was us going again! I still have the post Disney blues!

dumby - Thank you.
bear74 - I came up with the design ideas and DH drew them on the computer. We printed them out and used the printouts as stencils to cut the designs out of a stiff white felt (and red for the Minnie bows). We used NoSew glue to apply them to the vests and they stayed on. My MIL made the vests out of fake suede fabric.

My MIL had the striped shirt and made a red Smee hat and wore her reading glasses. Smee fussed over her everytime he saw her!

I changed the design, and I agree. As far as telling them apart, I don't think they look alike. Guess I just know them too well. Rees' hair is a little darker than Davis'.

Denise - did you see all the suggestions a few pages back? There were some really cute ones! I'm sorry to all the original posters, but I don't remember who said what (The Good, The bad and the Heroes ... The boys are back in town....a few other really cute ones). I really liked some of them! Your other designs are adorable as well, though -- I espeically like the one with the character traits (Kate's design originally I think). And, BTW, I totally agree - Rees and BK look a LOT alike! All three are darling!
Disney Newbie - congrats to your sister! What a proud night!
Mommy boo - those vests are incredible! I can see why they got so much attention!

My dh has a request. We went to Beaches and Cream during our recent trip and shared the kitchen sink. Dh ate 75% of it himself. He says that on our next trip he wants to go back and eat the whole thing himself. If you do it in less that 1 hour it is free. I have no doubt that he can do it. He says that he will need a shirt that says something like "I ate the kitchen sink". I will try to post a photo of it tomorrow as I hope to get to bed soon. Thanks

Hi there,
I started reading the beginning of this thread and I am in love with the tie dye mickey shirts. I scanned through about 15 pages of the thread looking for someone to post pictures of the process. I just can't figure out how to do the folding. Has pictures of the process been posted? If it has I'll keep looking. Thanks

Thank you. I was hoping this was the answer I would get. Adding wasing shirts AGAIN to my list of thing to do in 4 day s could throw me over the stress edge.

First you will need the dye. I got a kit at Michaels that came with the instructions, dye, squirt bottles, soda ash, gloves, and rubber bands. Get 100% cotton shirts. That is very important so that you get vibrant colors. Do not use Rit Dye – you will not get vibrant colors!
Take the shirt and draw a mickey head in pencil, on the shirt. I made a pattern on papper first and then traced along the edge. You will then "sew" the pattern. Use a needle and thread. I got a waxed thread at Michaels to make sure it didn't take up the dye. Sew a 1/4" - 1/2" basting stitch along the pencil line. A basting stitch is a very simple stitch that goes up & down through the fabric. Only go through the front of the shirt if that is where you want the mickey to be. If you want it on front and back. Do each side separtely. After stitching along the complete line, knot it, and pull it tight, so the fabric gathers in a bunch. Make sure the inside of the Mickey is poking outward. Pleat the rest of the fabric, so that you have a long snake like tube. The more careful you are with pleating the fabric along the length of the shirt, the better the final result. Go easy, and take your time. Wrap a rubber band around the threaded bunch. The tighter the tie, the more defined the outline of the mickey will be. Place remaining rubber bands in 1"-2" intervals along the rest of the shirt. It is a little hard to explain, but when you are done you will have a long snake. One end is the mickey on front of shirt and the other end it the back mickey. Through the middle is the rest of shirt (arms, neck etc.).
Then follow the instructions in the kit for preparing and dying shirts. The squirt bottles make it possible to get the specific color where you want it.

Now there are a couple of great ideas. My father is a semi-professional tour guide who really only puts tours together, and then finds professional guides in all the cities he visits. He takes a major trip each March. 2006, it's Greece and Turkey, 2007 it's England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Should be fun!
I would love to do DLP, but don't know if it's in DH's cards. I'm hard pressed to get him to go to the one in our neck of the woods. I've put a bug in his ear about WDW, and he's "thinking" about it, so we'll see. I hope one day to get him as converted as I am.

I just got back from Walmart. For anyone looking for long sleeved tees, they have 100% cotton ones at Walmart for just under 8 dollars. They also have them for kids too. I think they were $5. I bought mine in white but they had a variety of colors. They were mens/boys, so no pinks, etc. But they are nice quality, very soft.
So my shirts are in the wash and I am going to print out my Christmas design and get to trimming. I also got my tye-dye kit. Then I will print out various size Mickey head patterns and stitch the shirts. Starting to get into full-blown t-shirt making mode now. I will post pictures when I get some things completed.

I looked at the 15 day forecast through 11/21 and the highs were in the 80's with lows in the 60's. I think I'm going to make all short sleeve T's and take some long sleeve stuff that we can layer underneath.

Hi all ! I am here just like what the... my lil sis left today to move to Hawaii
:( I want to be happy for her, but I am so afraid she will meet her husband there and not come back! At her going away party, there was all men there!!! She is just one of those cool chics that meets people so easy!! I am like, one of these guys isn't enough??? :rotfl: Do pray she comes back soon. She said 2 years. I just hate it! She is the best aunt to my kids too... we NEED her!
Also, my oldest sis, who lives 3 hrs away, had her barn burn down yesterday! She lost everything in it, it's to the ground now. Poor Mom is like :rolleyes1
My van that was hit by the deer is more broke than we thought. It looked like it was gonna be driveble.. but I think something is not good, wheels feel funny. I don't have rental, forgot to add it when we got rid of the spare car. :confused3 Not sure what I am gonna do. WAAAA
On the good side, my 20 yr old son called me today and said something real nice to me. It was one of those, "wow, he is growing up" kinda moments, one where he realized a choice I made for him years back was best for him, that kinda thing. That was AWESOME!
So, hey, we are all alive, and ....... I am going to DISNEY in 3 weeks !!! :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :cheer2: :Pinkbounc I just gotta remember THAT!

The trip to Beaches and Cream will come up later in my trip report.
As I mentioned last night, we ate this kitchensink together (we ate 25% he ate the rest). On our next trip he plans to do it alone and I need a cool T-shirt that says" I survived the kitchensink" or "I'll eat anything including the Kithensink". You guys come up with some cute sayings to let me see what you got.
Cute story. I bought some halloween items at 75% off yesterday. One item was a light activated skull and hand. The skull's jaw moves as does one of the fingers. It is pretty cute. I had put it in our bedroom along with some other items that I need to move to the basement and forgot that I set it in there. Dh goes in tonight to change into is pjs. He drops his pants to the floor and we hear "Hey Buddy....Come here...You made my night". I thought we were going to die laughing. My dh wants to know what kind of a store I bought it in? It was timed exactly perfectly. I am still laughing as I type this.

After watching the Apprentice on Thursday, and after last week, Steffy and I just want to know what are they going to do to make it last since the Donald had fired four?

Karebear1 - I am also leaving in 6 days and I finished my last T-shirt today (31 transfers and 7 tie dyes) and did the majority of the packing for the 4 of us. I wanted to be completely done by tonight, but DH wanted to go out for pizza and who am I to say no? I plan to finish tomorrow after work.
I need to pull up one of my packing lists and see what I have forgotten. It has gotten to the point where it sems that we pack an extra bag of just food, supplies, an extra bag for souveniers for the way home, etc. I am not sure if I can pack it all in 2 bags, or if it will take 3. I hope 2. Then I need to start packing the bookbag.
Enjoy your TV tonight gals, I don't tend to watch anything on Sunday. Right now I am the only one awake in my house, and it is so quiet. I absolutely love it. Just need to grab a soda and start printing off my TGM lists.

I don't know if we mentioned it or not - while we were in WDW (10/15-10/24) we saw them filming for Home Makeover... you know ... the show where Ty destroys then builds your house. They were in the garden to the left of the castle (the castle was the backdrop) and were watching a lap top. We saw what appears to be a mom and dad and some kids and the episode should air in Nov/Dec. I always wondered about when they taped those parts - know I know!

Denise,
I used my stovetop. I have a flat top electric stove, and I figured it was used to the heat.
Here are a couple of tips:
1. do not overuse the parchment paper that comes with the dark transfer paper. Today I did and it scorched my design.
2. Use 100% cotton for the cloth underneath. I used old pillowcases that belonged to my great-grandmother. However, don't use anything that you cherish, but it will scorch your fabric like it did Kate's table. If I didn't have any old 100% cotton pillowcases, I would go to Wal-Mart or Hobby Lobby and buy some muslin.
3. The dark transfer paper looks great on a white shirt (if you are able to cut along the edge). It seems to really give a much nicer coverage than the light paper.
4. Wipe your iron down when you are finished, sometimes it seems to get a little residue and sticks a little when going back to your regular clothes.
Good luck!

DO tell about the oil spoon on the counter top! I am new to the granite thing!
Let me preface this by saying I should carry a warning label any time I enter the kitchen :teeth: but we had just moved into our new house and while browsing through my Southern Living I found a recipe for Chicken Fried Steak that I thought I'd try to impress DH with. We NEVER fry food so I don't know what I did wrong but the steak caught on fire. No worries since that was my 3rd stove fire (well 4th if you count the time I spent the night with Libby and we burned down her kitchen trying to make donuts but I was only 7 or so, so I'm not sure I can be blamed for that one :rolleyes1 ) anyway I threw the oil coated spoon down on the granite so I could grab flour and towels to put the fire out and then we went out to dinner. It made a stain. It's hard to explain what it looked like, it just looked different from the granite around it. It was never really obvious and did kind of fade over time. I mentioned it to someone once and they said oil would stain it.

Still have to figure out what to iron them on
I used my ceramic stove top with a folded table cloth underneath (it was a smallish tablecloth so not too thick). I was really scared with the iron on full as that's for linens not cheap t-shirts, and did turn it down to just cotton setting, but everything came out fien. I've washed the pillowcases and I mighjt start them tomorrow - we have St Nicholas day as well (because DH is of Hungarian parentage) when the boys put out their welly boots and St Nicholas puts in sweets and treats if they've been good and sticks if they've been naughty. The kids usually get one or two sticks each, DH gets lots (but says he likes it like that  :rotfl: ). I thought some Christmas - themed pillowcases would be a nice change from candy (and better for them!) and by giving them on 6 December they get to use them before Christmas.
I bet you're all in bed now and I'm here at work with flu  because I have a meeting this afternoon. :sad2:http://www.wdwinfo.com/photopost/data/500/73452boystigger-thumb.jpg (http://www.wdwinfo.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=6611)

I got up this a.m. and poured myself a cup of coffee, fully intending to be here for an hour or so to see who got post #10,000!
But it only took a few minutes to read since everyone was watching TV and going to bed early (myself included). So, tonight the race will be on, I assume.... :crazy2: :thewave: :hyper2: :thewave: :crazy2:
Also, I thought I had chosen my T shirt designs for next month and you all are still designing!! I have gently persuaded my family to wear 2 T shirts while we are there, but I don't think I can get them to do more than that. I know... maybe I will make T shirts for the 2 families from my school whose trips I helped to plan :cool1: Wonder if they would wear them??? :rolleyes1

To Be 6 Again
A man was sitting on the edge of the bed,
observing his wife turning
back and forth, looking at herself in the mirror.
Since her birthday was not far off, he asked
what she'd like to have for her Birthday.
I'd like to be six again, she replied, still
looking in the mirror.
On the morning of her Birthday, he arose
early, made her a nice big bowl of Lucky Charms, and then took her to Six
Flags theme park.
What a day ! He put her on every ride in the
park; the Death Slide,
the Wall of Fear, the Screaming Monster Roller
Coaster,... everything there
was. Five hours later they staggered out of
the theme park. Her head
was reeling and her stomach felt upside down.
He then took her to a McDonald's where he
ordered her a Happy Meal with
extra fries and a chocolate shake.
Then it was off to a movie, popcorn, a soda
pop, and her favorite
candy, M&M's. What a fabulous adventure !
Finally she wobbled home
with her husband and collapsed into bed exhausted.
He leaned over his wife with a big smile and
lovingly asked, Well Dear,
what was it like being six again ??
Her eyes slowly opened and her expression
suddenly changed.
I meant my Dress Size, you dumb *** !!

Lady Lucca- I LOVE that new Candlelight Processional design you did. It's really cute and warm looking. Good job!
Disneyeveryyear- Isn't it nice to know the packing is done? I need to buy some extra batteries, and I'm having dinner with the girls I'm going down with on Wednesday night. I have to give them their surprise travel bags- which, by the way, are soooo cool! I'm really excited to see the look on their faces when they get this Mickey carry on packed with the following: a Mickey silouhette monogramed beach towel, their tie dye shirts, pillow cases and new DDA Designer luggage tags! I also bought them each their own box of ear plugs.... because I snore when I sleep and I don't want to wake them up! :)
Speaking of which......
Macintosh- we're you able to send off those iron on transfers to me? If so, do you know when they should get here? And.... are you ready for your trip? You leave this week too don't you???
WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I leave in 4 more days!

karebear1 - I love to know I am almost finished packing. I keep jotting notes though, things to add to suitcase, check DSs inhalers to make sure they are full enough to take, etc. I swear I am never finished until we step on the airlplane, and then there is always Wal-Mart once we get there.
I have given everyone their 3 T-shirts, put clothes out for everyone to put on Saturday a.m, checked on meds, etc. I am thinking of having the kids sleep in their T-shirts, clean undies and socks so all they have to put on is their shorts and hoodies. Our flight leaves at 6:00 a.m. so we have to leave home at 4:45 a.m. They are going to freak out with that. Hopefully we will all be to bed very early Friday night!

I see Mickey, Minnie, Jack, Goofy, Stitch... but who is on the first (left) vest and the second to last vest?
ReAnSt is right. The first one is Pete and other one is Donald. We had to put the jaw on Pete, otherwise he looked like a cat. :teeth:
Pete's (http://stp.ling.uu.se/~starback/dcml/chars/blackpete.html) been around since 1930 and my fil requested him.
We had actually done a Winnie the Pooh for DD20months but it just looked wrong. The red bow on the Minnies was DD8's idea and worked out well with the design.

Denise,
I used my stovetop.
Good luck!
What do you use once the parchment paper is worn out? Thanks for the other tips.
