I didn't go. What's the saying Physician heal thyself? Had so much to do today that I didn't have time. I'm using my old inhalers, and feeling a little better (as evidenced by the picture!)

Welcome to the Boards Julia!!! We can't wait to see more!!

Marti - I didn't realize you speak fluent Julia!! :rotfl:

for those of you who don't here is a translation:

Brantley-Kate: Thank you for sending me stuff at WDW - I love it! You look beautiful in your Ariel costume! I love you very much!

Alyssa: I miss you and love you very much! I want to come to your house (turns to mommy - "wait does she have a dog" "yes" - "does she have a cat?" "yes") continues typing - I would like you to come visit me at my house!

Julia (who was one - then two - then 3 and now 4!)

(those are the actual words she told me she was typing!!!)

Why is Julia always strangling poor Nick??

:rotfl: I know it appears that way -

usually she is doing one of two things - trying to make him stay in the picture (which is rare b/c he is a total ham!!!)

or normally she is hugging him!!!

We did a safe trick or treat at a local mini mall then did some trick or treating in the neighborhood. You have already seen my kids in their costumes. I have to tell you that since we did the MNSSHP twice they weren't really into trick or treating tonight. I felt like we were forcing them, but thought they'd feel out of place at school tomorrow when all their friends are talking about what they did last night.

what a great costume!!!

the one year I went to a Halloween party in a less than family friendly costume - I got hit on more than you can believe (everywhere I went!!) it was a lot of fun to play that part - but was so sad that accentuating my accents got so much more attention than I normally did!!! But a lot of fun!!!

also - do you ever have times when someone's screen name just clicks with you? seeing your pictures did that for me!!

Thanks for the kind words on our cow costumes photo! (Disneyeveryyear, Steamboat Marti, Tink2020, and all) Still haven't figured out how to make it smaller in the post.

All the other kiddies were so cute too! And the pumpkins look awesome! I found those Huggies pumpkin templates, but we didn't end up carving ours (was going to do Cinderella's mice).

Triplefigs - your whole family looks awesome all decked out for Trick-or-Treat!

Tammi67 - I thought Peter Pan and Cinderella looked exceptionally cute!

Julia & Nicks Mom - Julia's post was just TOO cute! (and Julia and Nick's costumes are too)

Disneyeveryyear - love Buzz's snazzy glasses!

We always have Trick-or-Treat Sunday, usually in the afternoon, though some communities have been moving it to evening. Ours was evening, so we went to my Mom's for just a few houses (and of course Grandma's house) Sunday.

I finally bought some T-shirt transfer papers (Avery - some light, some dark). Didn't get a particularly good deal, so just got a small pack of each to try.

We have another short family visit trip this weekend, then just 3 weeks till Disney! :bounce: Hope I can at least finish my "Disney Mom" bag and shirt. And I was working on a variation of the "Dreaming of a Disney Christmas" - I think it was Kate's design. Plus I'd like to do a Mickey Mouse 1st trip shirt for DS, and some others, but I'll see how far I get and how they turn out!

I bought lots of shirts, and may buy more and make some as Christmas gifts too. It might be fun to do them when we get back to keep some of the Disney magic alive.

Kate -- Thanks! :wizard: The hat, gloves and shoes/slippers were purchased at WDW, of course. But the robe was made by the mother of one of my students! She saw the one I had made of plain red poplin and said I needed a grander one than that. Wasn't that thoughtful?!?

As for my screen name... I can thank DH for that. 15 years ago when we were starting with AOL I wanted something other than my first initial and last name. He decided to play around with what I do for a living and came up with the "pianoforte" idea. Mr. Smarty Pants, isnt' he? :rotfl:

Hi, guys!! Happy last few minutes of Halloween to all of you! It looks like everyone has been busy - hope you had fun tonight!

I'm writing with a "challenge" for someone. I purchased a Tinkberbell sweatsuit at the WOD store in DTD last month - it's gray/pink reversible, with a small pink Tinkerbell sewn to the right breast of the jacket.

The challenge - I didn't like the shirts they were selling to compliment the sweatsuit, and would like to wear just a white or light gray t-shirt underneath the suit with the same Tink (just her silhouette in pink) a little bigger in the center of the tee.

Anyone want to take a shot at this? I realize it might be a tall order, and I have no idea how to go about it. I found the following on Disneyshopping.com - it has the same Tink on the bag and eyemask that my sweatsuit does: http://disneyshopping.go.com/DSSectionPage.process?Merchant_Id=2&Section_Id=14735&Product_Id=190659

TIA if anyone is brave/willing to try!!!!!!

My mom bought Alyssa's trick-or-treat bag from Pottery Barn Kids (you know how Grandmas like to indulge! :goodvibes ). The back of the bag is a gauge that says things like "just getting started," "almost there," "full," etc.). Alyssa insisted on carrying her bag all night...after an hour, she was dragging it, because it was so heavy, but she still wanted to carry it! :)

Have a good day everyone!

Love the pics of you all in your costumes! DS(5) put on his light-up horns. picked up his "devil stick" and ran to the door every time to hold out the basket. I didn't get a lot of stuff in as we only had 2 calls last year (it was very rainy). We had about 5 or 6 groups this year - maybe next year I might let him out, but he's got a nasty chesty cough and it was very damp.

On another note, got word from the transfer paper lady, seems they lost my order, but not my payment. They are sending it out today via two day delivary. Sorry for the delays, but hopefully everyone will have their paper by the weekend.

Hey Deb -
I am patiently waiting for installment #3 on the trip report.....:rolleyes1

Sorry, It's been busy around here with Halloween and all. Since we finally had a nice weekend we had to do all of our outdoor preparation for winter. Now that I know someone is waiting I'll move it up on my priority list.

CheriePenguin: What an adorable cow you have! That picture is priceless!

Kate: Tell Julia that Brantley-Kate wants to meet her too and she loves her Belle shoes! Now BK wants some. Nick was too cute in Buzz. And great new designs. I love the background castle of the Cindy ones.

Tammi67: Cindy and Peter are too cute! What terrific smiles.

PNO4TE: love your user ID! The pics are great, and what a sweet mom to make you the new robe. You and your students looked terrific.

Marti: Great to finally see you! Love the MMC shirt. It turned out great. And the new pics in your signature are wonderful. What a lovely family you have.

Tink2020: good luck with all the planning and visiting cities. Sounds like you and DH will be very busy over the next few months!

bengalbelle: What a cute son you have. Davis loves the pirate costume! That is a great picture of your DS.

disneyeveryyear: love Buzz! The goggles and hat really complete the look. Very cute picture and DS!

Amy and Kevin: Alyssa is too cute! Glad you all dressed up too. It's so much fun to get into the spirit! And I love the new signature. That's my favorite font.

Miss Missy: Your DD looks very spooky. My trio thought she was a real witch! She did a nice job on that one by herself.

Maryjeane: How adorable! and the shirts don't look too bad either ;) Hope you have a great trip. Your girls are beautiful!

Momof2OH: love the Christmas Lumpy! Very sweet!

Rosiejo: Only 2 TOT? Wow. You are getting so close to leaving for your wedding. I'm so excited for you!

OMG! Did you see my ticker? I just noticed it. I leave 4 weeks from today! I'll be waiting at the airport for our 11:30am flight. I'm too excited.

So, where is the CHEAPEST place to buy color cartridges for my printer? I did a test in BW last night, and it looks like it will print the designs just fine. My color one is empty. Any suggestions?

Oh, and what is formica? How do I know if my counter tops are that?

Formica is an overlay on countertops - it is the most common type - or there is like granite or corian - those are solid all the way through

if you want = take a picture of your countertop (try to get a corner) and I will tell you if it is

You can buy small pieces of Formica at Home Depot or such to use. I'm thinking about picking up a piece, so my wife doesn't burn her hands on the stainless steel again.

Mac – What a beautiful family you have. Your costumes are great.

Deb – I have been enjoying reading them. I know what you mean about the yard work. With the nice weather we spent the weekend re-sealing our deck and I had to transplant all my potted plants, or should I say jungle, that I keep our on our screened porch, so I could bring them in for the winter.

Denise – Speaking of user names, it wasn’t until recently when I figured out what the “figs” meant in yours.

Kate – Do you know where I can find long sleeved tees for kids? I don’t see them at blankshirts.

for the boys - call your Old Navy and see if they have any of their ringer tees left - that is what Nickes shirts are and I LOVED them!!!

I got the hanes stayclean for most of Julia's and also the walmart brand tees - I liked those too - they have been clearanced here

I also liked the shirts I got from Hobby Lobby - although they were 50/50 and I really think that makes a difference

I need to take Julia to school - I will research a little when I get back

I just had a brilliant idea! I'm going to go raid my kid's closets and get out all of their short sleeve plain t-shirts and use those to make the DDA shirts. By next summer, those will all be too small anyway, and I'd have to buy new ones! That'll at least cut down on buying shirts. And I think I have some old plain shirts that I may be able to use for me. Good excuse to buy new clothes next Spring! :rotfl:

I posted our tentative plan here:

#569 on December 2005 Info, Code, Dining board

Not sure if any of our other days/places will match up.

I want to make it to the 6:00 meet just prior to the Night Before Christmas show at MVMCP Dec 1st (I know you posted that you can't make that one due to your ADR). We're eating @2:40 at Whispering Canyon, then snacking/eating around wherever during the party. I don't know if DS will hold out long enough for us to make it to the later evening meets (fireworks/carousel). I hope we get to see the fireworks, but am not sure if we'll be able to get to a particular place at a particular time with him that late.

Were you originally planning to stay at WL too, or am I remembering incorrectly?

In any case, it would be neat if we run into each other there :) and if I see you (or think I see you!) I'll be sure to say hi!

Don't worry, just struck me as funny (would be an awfully pretty boy {in my unbiased opinion}). She has finally just accepted that she is a girl and will be one the rest of her life.

DS11, decided that he wanted to go to grandma's and help her hand out candy (her arthritis makes it difficult to get up and down for the door). Didn't dress up at all (unless you count an 11 year old boy who is starting to get an attitude as a costume).

I spent 10 minutes trying to get her to pronounce "Darth" correctly. I finally just gave up!

I spent 10 minutes trying to get her to pronounce "Darth" correctly. I finally just gave up!

Well, she is very pretty! Does she say "Darf" like my three?

see - now we can settle it - you have the prettiest Buzz Lightyear and I have the most handsome one!! :rotfl:

I also think that any 11 year old boy willing to go help his grandma instead of trick or treating can't have that big of an attitude!!!

I'm afraid the length is going to swallow my three on those T's. The width is ok, but the lenght is a good 4 inches longer than their regular shirts they wear. Any other suggestions for kids shirts?

Denise - I took a picture of Becca and Alysha wearing the size 3T Gilden shirt so you can get an idea of the size. It's quite roomy!!

Becca is barely in a 2T - she just turned 2 and is about 23 #s. Alysha is 4 and wears a 4T - she is about 34 #s and just over 40" tall.

I raided my girls' dressers too!! That purple and yellow one you saw yesterday with the Pooh flower were old t-shirts, as well as Becca's pink sweatshirt.

WARNING!!! Using the old ones worked great for colored t-shirts. I used a white one and as I ironed a bunch of stains showed up!! Old white ones should be fine for spray painting though.

Thanks for the pictures. My trio are 34-38# and 42-44" tall. I'm thinking the 4T may be the size to get. Do you think the 3T would allow for 2 more inches in height? I'd rather them be short than long. I found 2 orange and navy Old Navy Ringer ts and 2 blue for the boys in their closet. Only 1 hot pink in DDs closet, so I do need to order some more shirts.

For kids, is it better to have the design on the front or the back of the shirt? They have old Nemo shirts that are getting too small. I could put a design on the back of those. Yes or no? And we have the Disney logo shirts from this summer that I could add a design to the back. Will they get noticed, or be a waste of time/money?

Bengalbelle - your pirate looks great - must have been warm today, I see that he is barefoot! Her "shades" are a pair of "spyglasses" that we had in the gift closet, but were a lot cheaper than Buzz's actual goggles.

LOL, I didn't realize until I looked at the pictures later that he was barefoot. I was rushing him out the door to get some pictures and we had not put his shoes on yet. I'm sure it's painfully obvious, but I made his costume and there was a lot of blood, sweat and tears put into it. OK, no tears but a little bit of blood and a whole lot of sweat. I sew home decor but not clothes  . Anyway I was rushing to get a picture of him before the costume fell apart since he had already worn it to MNSSHP! We did put shoes on him before we went trick or treating, and it was pretty warm when we took the picture

Like I said before, I love the shades. They totally "make" the costume. Off the top of my head I don't remember what Buzz's shades/goggles look like, but I'm sure they're not cooler than those!

As for where to purchase printer ink your best bet is probably somewhere online even if you buy a generic type for your printer. Certain printer brands it is much harder to find genric ink for than others.

What I suggest you do is find out what type of cartridge you need for your printer and enter this number or letter combo into google's search engine window. If you don't know what this number or letter combo is you can go to amazon.com and type in your printer type. It should pop up with printer ink as a choice to purchase, it should have a number or letter or combo of both. Cut and paste this information into google's search engine and go through a few different sites to pick out the lowest priced ink.

My son turned 8 on Halloween..we had a really cute party. The Bus O' Fun came. This guy converted a school bus & put a bunch of different games inside...there was a glass booth that the birthday child went into and money was blowing around and however much he grabbed in 30 seconds was his to keep. Needless to say he's $17 richer...he thought that was FABULOUS! Then he organized a bunch of different games & had a pinata. I was nervous having never done this kind of party...but happy with the results. Everyone was happy & I'm ready for bed!

I thought his costume looked great. Most years I make the costumes, but I had previously looked at the Buzz Lightyear pattern and knew it wasn't going to happen. I was able to buy the costume including s&h for less than $20.00 off of E-bay last month, so I decided to let her do it.

I also love the idea! Something different and they come to your house, it couldn't be easier. Do you think he would come 200 miles down I-55?

I was surprised he didn't charge extra to come to me...he's out past Worth...I'm near O'Hare. Fine print said something about a 10% charge past 15 miles.

Thanks Denise. With regard to the monorail design, we actually did not do that one for us. We did it for some friends. We did get several comments, however, on the two that we did for us. Several people asked where they could buy them.

Did you wear the one with Goofy holding the baloons? That's my other favorite you did (has Epcot and I think the castle on it)? They are so vibrant. What color shirt did you use?

How cool! You arrive the same day as us. I think there are 4 of us DDAers doing MVMCP on 12/1! We need to schedule a DDA meet that night!

It would be really neat if we could all meet - at MVMCP Dec 1st, or sometime during our trips!

I'm so unsure about how things are going to go - our first time to MVMCP, and with DS (20 months) who may or may not "go with the flow"!

At present we're planning to eat at WCC (WL) @ 2:40, then get to the party around 4:00+. I want to try to make it to the MouseMeet with Ray Sharpton at 6:00 just prior to the Mickey's Night Before Christmas show. I think there were two other meets scheduled for fireworks time and 11pm, but I'm not sure if DS will make it that late.

Any ideas for when and where we could try to meet? Not sure if I can guarantee I'll make it, but I'll sure try!

You guys are so funny sometimes. I swear it's a RACE to 10,000 posts at this point. :)

I've got this great graphic of the Sword in the Stone and I want to personalize it somehow. What I *really* want it to say is PICK ME PICK ME but I'm looking for something a little less obvious. :)

Anyone have any ideas? If it helps - my DS's name is Ben.

Anyone have any hints on getting picked?

Yep, wore that one and the one with the photographs of the four park icons. We did both on white shirts. And you are right, the colors did turn out very vibrant.

Here's Alyssa showing off hers with Chip and Dale.

To ALL our DDA Friends:

True Friend
A girl asked a guy if he thought she was pretty,
He said...no.
She asked him if he would want to be with her forever....and he said no.
She then asked him if she were to leave would he cry, and once again he replied with a no.
She had heard enough. As she walked away, tears streaming down her face the boy grabbed her arm and said....
You're not pretty you're beautiful.
I don't want to be with you forever, I NEED to be with you forever.
And I wouldn't cry if you walked away...I'd die...

Remember:

When I was 11 I HAD to go as "a boy". That's all, "a boy". :confused3

But the best part is, two or three houses in a row in my dad's old neighborhood said "You're son is getting so big!" :rotfl:

LOL! I kind of did that this year. My daughter went out in a group trick-or-treating, and while she was out another group of her friends came to the door. When dd came home, I told her they had been looking for her and told her the three names of the girls that I knew and then said that there was a pretty blonde girl with them that I kept thinking that I should know but couldn't place. It turns out that the "pretty blonde girl" was actually a boy!

I have to share these pumpkins photos with you. I was done carving pumpkins, and then on Monday (Halloween!) morning someone here posted a link to a site with these two patterns on it. I had to go out to buy two small pumpkins to carve. (And confirmed my husband's opinion that I am completely nuts).

It's a little hard to see them, but they are the castle and a mouse from Cinderella.

You have planned this for a very long time. I hope that you have as much fun on your trip as you have had planning it. The planning is done so relax and take in every moment. Your wedding day will be over in a flash. I got married 13 1/2 years ago and there are so many memories that seem like they happened yesterday. We had so much fun at our Wedding, Reception and post reception reception that we almost missed the flight to our honeymoon which was the start of my Disney Obsession.

What a fun idea! It sounds like you all had a blast!

They are just plastic Pumpkin faces that I tied on to the lights.

How creative!!! I loved them!

:wave2: Thought I'd share my Halloween kids and shirts :)
DD was Aurora, which meant DS had to be Prince Phillip! ("Heir to the Throne" costume from WalMart, but to him, it was Prince Phillip, and that's all that mattered!)

Halloween tie-dye is a different colored variation on my shirts from a couple years ago :)

I know the last post was OT, but Marti and I find ourselves often talking about these boards and you guys even when we are not online. Even though we have only met a few of you on our last trip we still feel as though we know you all and we if we all lived alittle closer to each other we would probablly hang out and have a beer or two. Anyway just wanted to share with you all.

Can't sleep, as SteamboatMarti has run out of steam again and will be making another trip to the Dr. later this morning.

Talk to you all later...

I know what you mean! DH and I were talking last night about something and a few of you came up. He said "you've never met these people, right? how do you know so much about them? :earseek: " :)

He doesn't get it... :rotfl:

Marti, feel better!!!!

Oh blimey I'm nine pages behind already... how many pages will you guys crank up in three weeks!

Just wanted to login and say goodbye - thanks for all the best wishes.

The tshirts are all ironed and packed... all that's left now is to parcel up the cats and send them off to their "grandparent's" :0(

Have a fun three weeks - hope you're all feeling better soon and those about to embark on their own WDW trips I hope you have a FANTASTIC time :cheer2:

Oh yeah - and just in case anyone does spot me you might like to know that my "real" name is Clare - Rosie is actually the name of my cat :rotfl: (Just so you knwo why I might not answer to it :) )

Bye everyone - see you when I get home :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I know you probably won't be back on, but just in case --

Congratulations and have a WONDERFUL trip!

Here's the pics of my two dressed for Halloween. DD decided she wanted to go on Sun (didn't give me lots of time to get something together) so she was a simple devil. DS had to be Mickey.

Too cute

We got our Disney Rewards Update in the mail yesterday and it had lots of info on the Christmas Activities at WDW. I told dh that I wanted to go back and he said we can't afford it this year. :guilty: Maybe if I go alone...Did I just say that?

Actually, it's full-strength Mountain Dew  :rolleyes1

Non-diet pop is my stress "food". That and ice cream, but I couldn't hardly get that at the hospital and carry it with me all day!

This is sort of rediculous, though.... but that's what you get when I have to read 9 pages :goodvibes

Hey! I'm caught up.... and now I must go again. Well, in a few minutes anyway. I apologize in advance if I have to go on a posting frenzy again tonight/tomorrow! Just trying to keep up!

Must go continue packing.... and look for a storage unit.... and read a million pages for a test (i'm a little behind) ......

Were the ones on the right MEANT to be hidden Mickeys? :earsboy:

(Sorry - guess that has already been answered and is old news! I posted my reply when I saw the original posted photo, but there were several pages of posts I hadn't read yet!

this is not central for the Texas DDA's but for the
rest of us DC would be pretty convenient and a fun place to go!!
Yes, Yes! :Pinkbounc I think that is a great idea! You could all stay at my house! And if there are too many of you, PNO4TE lives about a mile away from me. How cool would that be??

Elin - if you have a bunch of crazy ladies (and a crazy man or two) wearing Disney shirts come knocking at your door, with suitcases in hand - sorry, it's my fault....:confused3

Where did you get your JOJO costume? I like yourhat better then the one that came with ours it wouldnt stay on and when it was on it would only fit the back of her head. we got ours from disney online.

I actually made her Jojo costume. I started it last year when they sold out so quickly and then we ended up not going out. I jsut finished it this year. If your DD will be wearing her costume more and you can sew at all, the hat was really easy to make. I can send you a link to the directions I used. I actually ended up making it a little too small since I didn't listen to my instincts, hence the barretts holding it on. :)

did you place them so you would have a hidden mickey. The one on the top right looks like mickey with the two smaller ones behind it as ears. LOL
Love Disney and Mickey. LOL

edit: I also post before I finished reading. Love your pumpkins anyway.

I figured we annoyed the scrapbooking people when we got moved over here - I guess I was right!

I totally agree with this point! I've been very frustrated in that I'm not getting my email notifications and when I try to check in to see what's new, the T-shirt thread is always at the top. (And yes, I've already been through all of the Tech Board help with my email issue but they haven't been able to help.)

oops

Well, and we really didn't have a say in moving... :confused3

It's just one (or two) threads on the pages and pages that come up when you try to view new stuff.... I'm not sure it's that big of a deal :)

I thought it was kind of funny!
