Kate -
What size are the pages? Did you just slip them in a book when done or did you have the book bound at Staples? I was thinking of doing something like this, but now am leaning more towards making a pillow case out of your Walt Disney World December 2005 with all the characters.
I CAN'T DECIDE!!!! :confused3
or maybe both????
My plan from my last trip ... which I stil haven't done ... was to make a t-shirt or pillowcase with pics of ben with the characters and their autographs. I was going to print them onto iron-on paper ... and make it that way ....

I am having a down day too. My little guy turns two tomorrow and I am sad that I will never have a 2 yr old again. DH says that someday I'll have little grandchildren, but I really love kids when they are little. As they get older they get much more independent and pull away. Ok enough pity party.
Ben - I totally "get it". My little guy is 7.5 ... and I just realized I will never really be able to pick him up and hug and squish him anymore,. (I nearly threw out my back picking him up one day -- he's too big!) And ... we only have one ... I don't know where the time has all gone .......

About the bag for the autograph cards ... my advice would be to use a freezer bag -- not a storage bag. It's a heavier plastic and can take being beat up a little better. And the last thing you want are HOLES when you might be on splash mountain or kali river rapids!

I would have posted sooner but didn't want to accidentally be 12000
So the doctor told me Nick had one of 3 things - my first choice of the 3 was strep -
the test was negative -
now I am not sure if I want him to have pneumonia or a viral infection:
we are waiting for chest x-ray results and the doc told me she would call later tonight with the results
if he does not have pneumonia - he has a virus that is a very high fever like he has been all day today for about 4 days - he is highly contagious and odds are the rest of the house will all get it before all is said and done
I will let you all know later!!!

Kate .. since I am now on this foolishly misguided path of making a special autograph book. (My DH will soon have my committed!) Do you have any advice?
I'm thinking I can get this accomplished in either MS Word or MS Photodraw.

Well .... at least this gives me something to do while waiting for my eBay paper to arrive!!!!

Currently, I have an HP DeskJet 5150. Anyone have advice on cheap inks or buying refills other than HP cartridges???

Oh, poor Nick (and poor Kate!). You are in my prayers. Hopefully he'll feel better soon. Let me know if I can do anything. BTW, you can alternate Tylenol and Motrin every 3 hours to keep the fever down and him more comfortable. Ie Tylenol at 3pm, Motrin 6pm, Tylenol 9pm, Motrin 12am, etc. Use the full dose allowed. It keeps fevers under much better control and is an old Peds Nurse trick.
Hugs to you all!

Target sells refurbished cartridges for cheaper than the HP. For example, my HP 15 and 78 are about $30 for the HP and $22 for the refurbished one. If you have time, you might check out inks123, or something like that, online.

They've been walking around the house with the gold autograph books pretending the characters are signing them. Too cute!~ Since Kate is making me personalized pages, I'm going to use the books as individual photo albums for the trip. What do you guys do about ink for your printers? It has occurred to me that I have never used so much color ink before and I haven't even gotten to printing transfers! LOL
I had tried adding ink to cartridges with my old printer .. .it was a Canon BubbleJet and that project was a disaster!!!!
Currently, I have an HP DeskJet 5150. Anyone have advice on cheap inks or buying refills other than HP cartridges???
I use a generic brand for my HP printer from Office Depot. They run about 10 dollars cheaper than the HP ones. I don't know if they have them in the store or not. I buy mine on line.

Jennifer/Moonbeams: YOU FABULOUS WOMAN! Not only did the postcards come today (LOVE the hologram effects) but the kids got a very special care package! They are thrilled to say the least. They've been walking around the house with the gold autograph books pretending the characters are signing them. Too cute!~ Since Kate is making me personalized pages, I'm going to use the books as individual photo albums for the trip. We'll make them when we get home, and they'll have their own souvenir photo book. Thank you so much. You are awesome!!!!!!

Hugs and pixie dust to the kiddles for the surgery tomorrow! (and to the parents who will have to stress through the whole ordeal!)

It's just funny. I went to Mexico for a month when I was in high school, and lots of others with us (all Americans) were APPALLED at the horrible food.

I told her I want to come to her wedding in case she needs any help handling her t-shirt emergencies!!!:rotfl:
Forget my DCL wedding t-shirt emergencies, I'm about to have a DCL t-shirt emergency tonight!!!!!!!!!
Here's the background...
Last year, DBF and I went on the DCL for Thanksgiving and LOVED IT!!! So relaxing, so much fun, Castaway Cay double dip (means you go there twice in one trip), avoided all the relatives so no one (or everyone) was disappointed we weren't with them, etc. DBF wanted to do the same this year. But I wanted to go to Disneyland and SF to see my relatives, so that's what we are doing. Supposed to leave tomorrow morning at 6 am to fly to Vegas for a few days with his parents, then go to SF to see my family next Tues through the following Tues.
Now, some things have changed with my relatives (people selling their homes, moving, upheaval, yada yada) and we are both worn out from this year and really want to go on the cruise and just RELAX. So we are seriously contemplating getting on the Thanksgiving cruise this coming Saturday -- DBF is a cast member, so we can go last minute.
That's 2 days from now!! I don't have time to make 7 days of t-shirts, plus appease the relations, plus rebook flights and rearrange our lives in 2 days!!! And yet we really want to go on the DCL. It's our favorite thing!
And to top it all off Denise and Kate aren't taking requests right now (I am TOTALLY joking!!), and it's the holidays so everyone is busy and can't help, and I still don't know how to use Photoshop so can't make my own designs. I'm going to have to search the DDA and borrow everyone's DCL designs if I'm going to make this happen. Why can't Target be open 24 hours so I can get t-shirts in the middle of the night?!
How's that for a t-shirt crisis from an only child perfectionist who is freaking out! I know, I know "get a real problem." Deciding whether or not to go on DCL and making t-shirts for the trip is small beans compared to surgery and other world issues.
Will keep you posted on the DCL trip decision.

This is a great solution for everybody but our Matthew. When he had his 107 fever and febrile seizure, they had told me the day before the seizure to do Tylenol, Motrin. Would you believe in addition to the febrile seizure, he was now throwing up blood? His tummy couldn't handle the meds and was just a mess. That's also the weekend of three nights in emergency as well as the weekend my mother died. Talk about stress....

There must be something going around - I've had what I thought was a cold since Saturday, and then boom, today it's laryngitis! Which my doctor was quick to diagnose over the phone (hmm, all you have to do is hear me open my mouth!). Everyone at my office is sick, too.

Hi everyone. I haven't been able to get on much today. You all sure have been busy. So much is going on.
My3Princes - Congrats on your milestone!
Tink2020 - The new castle design is so pretty!
Kate - Sorry about poor Nick. This is really bizarre that just about everyone on this thread has been sick themselves or it's been someone in their family. My Nicholas went through that when he was 11 months old. He spiked a fever of 104.something and we couldn't get it to go down. No other symptoms. Called the ped. who said take him to ER. They did all sorts of tests...urine, blood, etc. and everything was fine. Then they did a chest xray and saw a teeny tiny spot somewhere on his lung and diagnosed pneumonia. He got a couple shots and a prescription and was acting normal by the next day. I am surprised it wasn't an ear infection after you said he was pulling on it and it smelled funny. I hope the rest of your family stays healthy.
And you all have made me hungry for Mexican food!

That goes double from me to the triplets, Nick and our other DDAs who are down for the count with early-winter bugs.

Jennifer - have fun on your cruise if you guys decide to go, and best of luck with the tees! Where do you live in the Metroplex? DH and I live in Plano.
DBF and I are in the Uptown/McKinney Ave/West Village area. Basically, we are surrounded by construction cranes and new apartos going up (if you've been in this area lately, you'll know what I mean). This place is growing like crazy! Not sure it is for the better at the prices they charge for rent...

I work downtown, so I know exactly where you're talking about! I love that area - we used to live down there (no further north of downtown than Lovers Lane), but had to move out to the 'burbs when we bought a house. Talk about sticker shock - look at the Big D housing market in some areas!

Moonbeams -- wow -- "It is a small world." I work in that area. We've been in our little house for almost 17 years, and that area has dramatically changed. In fact, when we first moved the business in, we were part of a neighborhood association with daily six hour off duty police patrols because there was still a lot of crime in that area. I'm still sad that Gallery Cafe left, although my waistline is probably in much better shape. My kids loved those decorated cookies and there were difficult to resist!

Denise, best wishes on the Triplets surgeries. You certainly have your hands full.
Kate, I'm glad that you were able to get meds into Nick. We used to use the suppositories on our youngest. They're not fun, but they do work.
Midnite, sorry that I didn't quote you. It wasn't supposed to be my milestone and it snuck up. I would be happy to edit your quote in if you tell me what it was again. I would have been honored to use it if I had remembered.
Jennifer, do the cruise and don't worry about shirts. You can make them for next time. Just have fun.
I'm sure I should be responding to more, but I just read 6 pages and can't remember everything. So hello to all and hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Well, we've got the 2nd at Epcot too. Otherwise, I'm not totally sure. I have things heavily planned for 11/23-27 when it is really crowded and my 9yo sister is with us.
23rd - arrive, DTD
24th - AK opening, lunch at Epcot, MGM for Fantasmic (crazy day I know, but a friend ended up planning a trip 2 weeks ago and Rose & Crown was the best we could get for all of us for Thanksgiving)
25th - PSB, Epcot, Candlelight, Illuminations
26th - MGM, MK, Spectro, Wishes
27th - MK, Crystal Palace, MVMCP
28th - touring resorts after taking Sis to airport
29th - CRT breakfast, LTT, MVMCP
30th - AK, the MGM for Fantasmic
1st - MK opening, unknown for rest of day
2nd - Epcot all day
3rd - unknown for morning, evening tour at Give Kids the World, hopefully a last shot at Wishes or Fantasmic
4th - gotta leave :(

I felt naked without my sig - so I put it back - does not mean I am designing again - just leaving my designs easily accessible
the dda logo file is now small enough that you can have it in and it only takes about 1/2 of the signature allotted file space - you can feel free to put it back - I fixed it in my photobucket - so anyone linked to there is fixed now too

Tia - it looks like we will have some of the same schedule. I haven't quite planned every day yet, but here's what I'm thinking thus far for our trip (gosh, can't believe I'll be there in less than 2 weeks!):
28th - arrive/check-in at WL, Beaches & Cream?, hang out at WL, dinner at Artist Point & sleigh ride
29th - MGM, lunch at Sci Fi, meet up with my parents and brother / MVMCP with LTT at 5:35
30th - late breakfast at Boma, early dinner at Mama Melrose's, Fantasmic and Osborne Lights
1st - CM for breakfast, Epcot - CP, tree lighting, IllumiNations and dinner at LC
2nd - move over to BWI, MK a.m., WCC for lunch, FF for dinner
3rd - breakfast at Spoodles, watch the Longhorns in the Big 12 championship game, tie-up loose ends, dinner at Alfredo's
4th - go home
If anybody else will be around, let me know! Most of the time will be just me and DH, but then other times will have my parents and brother with us, too.

i *love* this shirt... we are giving the kids the trip as part of their Christmas present but not telling them exactly when we are going (we're going MLK weekend, telling the kids "end of january" so that they can concentrate in school... they have state tests in the morning and we are leaving in the afternoon) so these shirts would be GREAT to hand them when we show up at school to get them... maybe i will make them on sweatshirts since we're leaving from NY in january...
can you or the designer share this one, please and thank you! :wizard:

Cool. I thought it was a mistake.
I called Disney Dining to make some changes tonight .. .and man were they trying to sell me tickets to MVMCP. Now, mind you, I'm not against it .. just the price. :) I know the park is open later ... less guests ... but it's just a bit out of my budget.
We were never EVER supposed to be going on this trip. We went went DH got back from Iraq and that was supposed to be it. BUT, I entered one too many contests ... and well ... my number came up. We just don't have lots of money for this trip, but luckily, we only have to pay for food. :)
I guess we splurged in that we're staying for 2 extra days. I have park tick for 5 days ... but only 4 nights lodging. I could NOT see flying and going to the park on the same day ... it would be WAY too much on my ASD son.
So ... we are getting full use of the 5 days of park tickets. :)

DS just informed us that her REALLY REALLY REALLY wants to go to the "zoo park". Ya know ... I really wanted to drop AK from our plans (although I have a fabulous shirt for it!). Cal me a grouch, but it's my least favorite park. First off ... we have a fantastic zoo we go to in Rhode Island. Second ... and don't ban me for saying this ... Busch Gardens is better!
I swear the only reason he wants to go is for Primeval Whirl! ugh DH and I could not wait to get off! He rode again with another family! We both stood in the baby swap area!

Hey -
I wonder if we could get diet coke to use us in a commercial
showing each of us at our computers - laughing, crying, posting, designing, drinking our diet coke and end with us all meeting at WDW - that would be a great commercial!!!!!
DBF read recently that in the US, Coke is going to quit distributing Diet Vanilla Coke and Diet Coke with Lemon. We love Diet Vanilla Coke; it tastes like candy, and when we are low carbing, it is a treat! DBF is :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

Okay, here is the quick update on my trip situation (because I know you are all waiting with baited breath to know where DBF and I are spending Thanksgiving!) :rotfl: :rotfl:
We decided to keep the trips to Vegas and San Francisco as planned. So we leave tomorrow at 5 am :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: for Vegas. Then next Tues we'll fly from Vegas to SF and spend Thanksgiving there.
That is not to say that DCL has gone by the wayside. Instead, we are looking at the 4-night cruise that leaves on Dec 4. This means we'll be at WDW on Sat, Dec 3 so we could actually meet the triplets (and their parents of course). We'll be the crazy people running around MGM looking for Triplefigs. Note to self... go back through this thread to see which shirts R, D and BK are wearing that day so we can spot the from afar.
Then, we'll do a few days at WDW after the trip (we already had that planned actually, it's DBF's birthday weekend). DBF has a work thingy on the evening of Dec 8, so if anybody is at WDW at the time and wants a dinner buddy -- or wouldn't mind me tagging along with your family -- let me know.
BTW -- we both work from home so can take our laptops and our jobs on the road. Don't want you to think we are independently wealthy or anything. We wish!!
Okay, I'm all packed and am wearing shirts I made for previous trips and activities. Will make more shirts when I get to my mom's in SF (she is dying to see how these transfer papers work). It is almost 2 am here and the car service comes at 5 am. Think it's time for me to get a small bit of sleep. I'll try to log in tomorrow to hear how Nick, the triplets, hunka, PNO4TE and all the other sickies are doing.
Hugs to all!

I need two t-shirts with the Wiggles characters. One with JAKE and the other HALEY. Kate has done them in the past but she is taking a break. Is anyone interested in attempting. I am taking my two grandkids to the Wiggles this weekend and would love to make them a shirt. I know it is only a couple of days away so if nobody gets to I am just going to use the Disney Playhouse design that is on Kate's design thread. Just thought I would check.
Thanks.....Lynn

You guys got itchy fingers or something? 18 pages in 18 hours!!!!
I gave up catching up after 804 :guilty: because Nick has somehow managed to give Christian the ear infection - perhaps its a computer virus :rotfl2: . The Doctor gave him some antibiotics: apparently the current "advice" is give Calpol and/or Neurofen for 3 days then give antibiotics if still bad. Luckily we have brilliant doctors who know what life is, so he followed it up with "if it gets worse start it sooner, if it was one of my kids I'd start it straight away" ;)
Hope Nick is feling better - Christian is lying on the sofa shivering under a blanket (this morning he said he wanted to wear shorts because he was too hot - he had a fever). He's very quiet -I bet if I pop in he'll be asleep! :)

Our plan is .... (until I change it again!)
12/14 - AK -- > MK
Donald's breakfastsaurus
have LTT for dinner ... but think we will end up with counter service and eating while we wait for the parade!!! Gotta get a good spot!!!!
12/15 - ???????
originally was supposed to go to MK for the whole day ,... but we were supposed to hop back to MGM the day before. I changed it cause I couldn't bear to miss Spectro!!!! I think we'll play it by ear. Probably not epcot since it's a BAD day ... unless we go there late to take advantage of late EMH. depends on how tired we all are. Gotta get in that one last ride on TEST TRACK!!!
We'll be at MK the evening of the 14th, too, for Spectro! And MGM the 15th, which you said you weren't sure about :)

Ewww.... I actually had had it several times at the Coke museum/factory thing (in Atlanta). My youth minister when I was like 12 tricked everyone into tasting it. SO... you better believe any time we were in Atlanta I 'payed it forward' ;) When DH and I went to WDW on our honeymoon I had completely forgotten about it -- until I SAW it, so he was my next victim. ;)

Please don't be mad at Nick. It's not his fault he got sick and we had to postpone game night. Hopefully you and your mommy and daddy will stay healthy, and we'll be able to pick another night soon. I'm sorry the safari was unsatisfying...did you ride it first thing in the morning? The animals are much more active when it's cooler.
One of our favorite things to do is to visit all the characters in Camp Minnie Mickey while a FOLK show is going on...no lines and lots of character interaction!
Jammin Jungle Parade is also my favorite parade...we always sit where nobody is sitting across from us, and we get so much interaction.

Have you ever been on Busch Gardens safari ride?
One of our favorite things to do is to visit all the characters in Camp Minnie Mickey while a FOLK show is going on...no lines and lots of character interaction!
We didn't get there. DS vetoed it for whatever reason. But we had NO problems with meeting characters. :) In fact leaving AK, it started to rain ... but Minnie. Mickey, and Donald were all signing autographs at the ticket booths! They were great!!!
Jammin Jungle Parade is also my favorite parade...we always sit where nobody is sitting across from us, and we get so much interaction.

You guys have been busy again. I hope that the triplets do well with their surgeries today. I keep thinking of the poor little ones having to go through that. Well, my baby is now offically 3. :faint: We let him open his presents this morning as we had 20 minutes where all 5 of us would be together today. I have to work tonight and tomorrow night. Tomorrow is DHs birthday. We gave Colby a couple of sets of GeoTrax so I spent 2 1/2 hours this morning engineering the tracks. He and nephew have been playing (well actually fighting, but what's new) with the trains. I can't believe how much they enjoy them. His room will have no floor space left between the sets he got or is getting for his birthday and the ones for Christmas. Good thing they make the elevation sets now, we can go up instead of out.

The plan is to put them on a black shirt. I think the first design will be easier to cut out. On the 2nd, the frame is sort of jagged. I will never be able to cut it out right ... and I think it will look sort of odd if I just cut it straight ... KWIM?
Oh .. .and since this design is going on the front of the shirt .... I have my concerns that thos Mickey ears are going to land ... well .. you know where! I am amply endowed without accentuating the positve!

The only thing I can think of is "Family - the most important people in the world" but I'm afraid that is going to be too long.

I like this one, but could I make a suggestion? I think the right ear where it simply says "walt disney world" makes it a little off-balanced. I think it needs a little more pizzazz or some sparkles or something, to even it out with the 2 other pictures. Other than that, I think it is bee-you-tee-full.
We would have to talk to the Queen .. since I am not capable of that. But ... I want to see the Spectro one first. Cause honestly, that parade is the whole reason I just juggled my schedule again! LOL I realized that I CANNOT go to MK and miss it. I would be WAY too sad.
Someone had suggested adding a day to my tix ... but aparently I can't do that. :( It would have been just to go into MK on Saturday night -- so I'm not paying a full days ticket for that. I would rather buy MVMCP tix.

How many days is your original ticket for? We have a four 7 day tickets and it is costing us only 10 bucks total to add another day onto each ticket.
I know what you mean, thought. I LOVE that parade too.

5 days. It's less than $10 to add the day on ... but I was told because they are some sort of "special" ticket, they could not add it on.

I can't either. If I follow the link to your designs, I can see all the thumbnails, but I can't see the larger version either.

Kate - I'm glad Nick is feeling better and that everyone was able to rest throughout the night.
Denise - I'm thinking of you all today.
It is awful being a parent and our little ones out of sorts. I remember when Alyssa was 2 and cut her chin. Had to go to the ER for stitches. They wrapped her in a bedsheet, like a cocoon, so she couldn't fight them. She was so scared and crying so hard and there was absolutely nothing I could do but stand there and try to talk to her. That is the worst feeling in the world.

Less than 100 left to 12345, and I have to go out for a while. If you are chatty this afternoon, whoever gets 12345, give out a wave to me. :rotfl:
