Light paper:
Step 1:
Insert a single sheet of transfer paper into the printer with the printable surface loaded corrrectly for your printer. REVERSE YOUR IMAGE BEFORE PRINTING. When printing multiple transfers, use plain paper setting, 360 dpi, Photo Glossy setting will give a BRIGHTER image, but requires a longer dry time. Transfers printed using the Photo Glossy Setting should be fed one sheet at a time to avoid smearing the image. After printing, trim away unprinted area around your image.
Step 2: Preparing to Hand Iron
Preheat iron on highest cotton setting for 5 min. or until very hot. DO NOT USE STEAM. For proper pressure, use an ironing surface that is waist level or below. DO NOT USE AN IRONING BOARD. Fold a pillowcase in half and place it on the ironing surface with the open end hanging over the edge. Iron the pillocase to remove wrinkles. Place the garment over the center of the pillowcase. Iron the garment to remove wrinkles. Center transfer, image side DOWN onto garment
Step 3: Time Required for Hand Iron
Full page iron for 3 minutes
If 1/2 page or smaller, move iron continuously in circles with firm pressure
1/2 page iron for 90 seconds
1/4 page iron for 45 seconds
Smaller than 1/4 page, iron for 30 seconds
Step 4: Ironing with Hand Iron:
Hold the iron with both hands and keep your arms as straight as possible (use your bodyweight to help apply firm pressure). Firmly slide the iron from right to left making 4 passes across the page, each pass lasting 20 seconds. Holding the iron the same way, firmly slide it from bottom to top making 5 passes across the page, each lasting 20 seconds. Make sure to pass over all edges
Step 5: Bakc Paper Removal With Iron:
Peel the transfer starting from on corner using firm steady pressure. If paper tears or is difficult to peel, warm the backing paper and proceed to peel.

Hope this helps. Sorry for the typo's. I can't post a picture, so I just typed it up quickly.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!

for reason I can't go into right now - I have made the decision that I am not longer going to continue designing - I will finish the requests that I currently have - but I can not accept anymore.

Kate -- I hope everything turns out OK. If there is anything we can do her ... please let us know. I know I'm going to miss your posts if you have to go away ....

I have a big craft show coming up on the 3rd so I must get something made. I started my hooded towel sets.

Where's the show? Do you make the towel sets only for little ones ... or big kids too? I would LOVE to see pics!!!

I went to a show this weekend ... someone made adult size hooded towels ... but they left MUCH to be desired!

Sorry, with all the bad news on this thread today I needed a little laugh. :rotfl:

Baloo. I am so sorry that you feel you need to resign. We really enjoyed having you as a moderator and hope that you will still post with us and stay in the community that you were a large part in creating.

Now for photos.
These are the towel sets. They are made from a large bath towel and half a hand towel. I made soap cozies and/or wash cloth and/or a wash mitt with the other half of the hand towels.

The girls towel ribbon is a floral pattern and the boys is a fish pattern.

Once you iron it on I don't think that you can get it off. I think your going to have to consider it a learning experience and get another shirt. Sorry.

Denise -- I have extra dark sheets I can send you. But, if you want to finish making your shirts today, go to Target in the computer section (not the school supplies section) and get the HP paper for dark shirts. It works great! It's what I used until we bought the eBay paper.

Question for others who used the light paper from eBay -- I printed a design on the light paper and ironed it onto a sweatshirt. I have been wearing the sweatshirt and looked down to discover the image has cracked. I know people have said if an image on dark paper cracks, to put the special parchment down and iron it again. But what should I do with a cracked image on light paper? I feel it will melt if I put the parchment down and iron it.

Please help!! I love this sweatshirt. It's Kate's design of Cindy and Prince and says "Proof that a great pair of shoes really can change your life." I wore it all through WDW this weekend at night and got lots of appreciation for the design. It is perfect for DBF and I because before we started dating he would tease me about how many shoes I would by when I wasn't dating and was "shopping" for a prince.

Help!

TIA!!

Yes, they really like them! For the light shirts, do you put anything on top of the transfer to iron or just directly on top of the transfer? I know you use the parchment paper for the dark.

I will start ironing after dinner!

Just iron on top of the transfer paper. (Leave the backing paper on for the light, and that's technically what you'll iron on). After it cools some, then you peel the paper off. But no need for anything else in between, you want the transfer to get nice and hot!

Back on later tonight, after dinner and family game night. If you're bored, cheer on the Redhawks on ESPN2(?) vs BGSU. Maybe not an SEC or Big 10 team, but a few of us are pretty fond of them. We'd be there if it wasn't disgusting here in Cincinnati!

Anybody have extra dark ebay paper you could send me? I need 4 sheets!

Or can you give me a specific link to which one to buy on her store? There are so many options, I don't know which one is right.

Thanks!

This is just another TWIN thing about me and you! I need more too, I got on ebay and ordered more and more tee's!

I dont like the avery, just when I was pealing the backing, the ink tore, I reprinted on the ebay stuff and will not be using AVERY.

BUT, some plp like it ok, you can get it at walmart 8.97 for 5 sheet!

Triplefigs. This is probably redundant, but remove the backing from the dark transfers place them on the shirt the way that you want them to look then place the parchment on and iron. For the light transfers do not remove the backing, place the design ink side down and iron on the backside. After it cools you remove the backing. So in essense the backing is the parchment.

But trying to decide what color shirt to put the desigs on is sooo hard for me. You have done a great job with yours.

GOOD LUCK WITH THE IRONING.

I think they look awesome too! You did a great job picking colors to coordinate with the transfers.

If you have full size designs, make sure your parchment paper covers all of the design or it will melt the edges. As far as trimming, I only trimmed designs that had a border so I don't have much advice.

You've already got a bunch of great tips. One more is to only iron for the time specified. If you iron too long it can discolor the shirts.

WOW!!! Those designs look great. I have a flat stove-top so that is where I did my ironing. I have only done 4 shirts for different occasions so I don't have much advice. The 1st two I moved the iron in a circular motion on the ironing board.....DON'T.... I repeat DON'T do that. The other two shirts I did on the stove top and just moved to one spot to another and pressed really hard for about 3 minutes moving and holding in different spots.....GOOD LUCK!! You still haven't posted a picture of those Christmas sweaters. I would love to see those.

Denise -- Don't be alarmed when it is hard to peel the backing off the light transfers. Iron them on using the tips posted before, let them cool a bit, then pick at the edge with your fingernail to separate the backing from the design and get a piece loose, then pull on that piece, holding the design and tee down with your other hand. It will come right off.

Good luck!!

Ok guys, I must tell you that I have not had so much fun since I was on the "Original Prodigy" (gasp) chatting on the Cat chat board. I looked forward to that for everything. Sometimes DH would get on and start posting and all of a sudden they would realize it was him instead of me. They helped us through a lot of sadness (one kitty had kidney failure) and a lot of great fun. My best friend Steffy introduced me to this board before our trip and when we made our shirts, wore them to DW, it was with great joy. Once I figure how to work the camera, we will post pictures of the shirts. Now I can see if Steffy is on and she can see me too and then we see each other at work the next day and just moan about how late we stayed up.

Denise! They look wonderful!!!

Okay, my big hint. Do they light tshirts all togther and then the dark tshirts. I mixed them up and then sat and ironed a dark transfer with the backing on. (you iron directly on the backing for light transfers) I'm so proud of myself, I hold up the shirt, and the well ironed transfer falls to the floor. tinker1bell and I were ROTFLAS and almost peed our pants. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I wrote this in another thread:

I love my shirts. We ironed them on a wooden typewriter desk with a pillowcase on top. I allowed the pillowcase to cool in between shirts. We used a good iron on its highest setting. We ironed the transfers for about 4 minutes. We ironed side to side s l o w l y making one pass about 20 seconds. The second minute we ironed top to bottom, each pass about 20 seconds. Then we did around the edges about 15 seconds each side. Then we did a side to side, up and down for the remaining minute. Voila. We let the transfers cool off a little before we peeled them. (about a minute) Then we left the shirts flat to dry overnight.

Good luck! Well, it's off to dinenr and the gym tonight. Go Denise! :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

whatever is white on a dark transfer paper will show white on the shirt! Trim knowing that!

Also, can you test iron on a spare shirt first, just print a small picture to test with on and old shirt... that helped me alot!

Denise - regarding the trimming, and I have only done white shirts so far, but I trimmed all around the design, as close as I could. I will prob. do this for the dark as well, simply because I don't want to be able to see a big rectangle, no matter how inconspicuous it is. ( I know I am anal like that (poop thread, I know)). They do look great though. I especially love the Family Magic Tour one.

Help!

TIA!!
Jennifer

This reminds me of the song Shoes by Shania Twain.

Tell me 'bout it.
Ooh!

Men: have you ever tried to figure them out?
Huh, me too, but I ain't got no clue: how 'bout you?
Men are like shoes, made to confuse.
Yeah, there's so many of 'em,
I don't know which ones to choose. (Yeah, yeah, yeah.)
Ah, sing it to me if you agree. (Yeah, yeah, yeah.)

There's the kind made for runnin',
The sneakers and the low down heels. (Whoa!)
The kind that will keep you on your toes,
And every girl knows how that feels. (Yeah, yeah, yeah, oh.)
Ouch, ah, sing it with me. (Yeah, yeah, yeah.)

You've got your kickers an' your ropers,
Your everyday loafers, an' some that you can never find.
You've got slippers an' your zippers,
Your grabbers and your grippers, an' man, don't you hate that kind?
Some you wear in, an' some you wear out,
Some you wanna leave behind. (Some you wanna leave behind.)
Sometimes you hate 'em, an' sometimes you love 'em,
I guess it all depends on which way you rub 'em,
But a girl can never have too many of 'em.
It's amazing what a little polish'll do:
Men are like shoes.

Some make you feel ten feet tall, (Tall.)
Some make you feel so small. (So small.)
An' some you wanna leave out in the hall,
Or make you feel like kickin' the wall. (Yeah, yeah, yeah.)
Ah, sing it with me, girls, ooh!

Some can polish up pretty good:
Ah, men are like shoes.

It's amazing what a little polish will do,
Some clean up good, just like new.
Some you can't afford, some are real cheap.
Some are good for bummin' around on the beach.

(You've got your kickers and your ropers,)
(Your everyday loafers,)
Yeah, some that you can never find.
(You've got your slippers and your zippers,)
(Your grabbers an' your grippers.)
And man, don't ya hate that kind?

You've got your kickers an' your ropers,
Your everyday loafers, an' some that you can never find.
You've got slippers an' your zippers,
Your grabbers and your grippers, an' man, don't you hate that kind?
Some you wear in, an' some you wear out,
Some you wanna leave behind. (Some you wanna leave behind.)
Sometimes you hate 'em, sometimes you love 'em,
I guess it all depends on which way you rub 'em,
But a girl can never have too many of 'em.
I ain't got time for the flip-flop kind...
Men are like shoes.

Denise,

from experience, unless you are using double layer for the parchment paper when doing dark transfers, do not layer just crossing the paper a little so you can cover the whole design because that will show a line on the design :earseek: trust me Steffy and I know from experience

Denise, another thing I just thought of as I was looking at all of your designs. When we ate a Chef Mickey's last Dec. Donald Duck was there too. You better get his picture in there with everyone else or he is going to be quite agitated. He is already mad that the restaurant is named after Mickey! On second thought, it might be quite comical. I remember Kate saying that Alice was a bit upset that she was not in Julia's princess shirt. By the way, can I give you all of my designs and have you coordinate them with the appropriate color of shirt??????

Good morning all -

for reason I can't go into right now - I have made the decision that I am not longer going to continue designing - I will finish the requests that I currently have - but I can not accept anymore.

My email address is feldmannk@yahoo.com if anyone needs to get in touch with me

EDITED TO ADD: I am okay - as is my family - I am a little overwhelmed and some things might come to a head in the next few days that could hinder my ability to keep designing - I do not want to take requests and not be able to follow through with them -

this could go either way at this point - if things blow over - I will start taking design requests sometime next week

OK, but don't go away.

On your shirts make sure you don't put the designs to low. I always tend to put them to low and sometimes they get lost if you know what I mean. It doesn't matter for the kids, they have nothing there.

Basically, it turns out the DDA logo is too big memory-wise all by itself, then you add the other 2 things to it and you're way over the limit. The animated images (sparkley name and DDA logo), though small in size, are actually very big files.

You can keep it until they delete it, but I'd go ahead and work on something else you like, as they'll probably be checking to make sure you change it. Sorry for the bad news.....

I did not do this but thought this would be a neat idea to do for a gift or present for a family member or to hang up and frame on your wall or for a scrapbook or t-shirt even.

It worked just fine for me. There were about three inches overlapping, and no lines.

Denise,

from experience, unless you are using double layer for the parchment paper when doing dark transfers, do not layer just crossing the paper a little so you can cover the whole design because that will show a line on the design :earseek: trust me Steffy and I know from experience

I had to attempt to stay on topic for once. :rotfl2: Since we always take the detours and side roads.

I probably wouldn't put it on a shirt either except maybe my back. I have issues as well with people staring at my chest hence the reminder about making sure things don't get lost by improperly placing designs down to low. I was so worried when I made my Mickey tie dye that I would end up with two ears appropriately placed as targets. Thank heavens I lucked out and that didn't happen.

I always seem to have an awful time with placement of designs even if I get a ruler out and measure. I can't visualize the curves and bumps and when it is being ironed it is smooth and un3-d. Most of the time I end up trying it on and pinning it fast ahead of time so I have proper placement.

I also won't wear a pin lanyard for that same reason. It drove me nuts to have people stop and stare at my chest all day long. Especially when they would attempt to pick up my pin lanyard and try to examine it more closely. I wanted to tell them Hands off my rack of pins.

Ok, my shirts are DONE!!!!!!! I am so happy. House is decorated, shirts done, got the kids a cool light up toy for the parades, safety bracelets for the parks, documents are all together... Surgery Thursday, then Thanksgiving. And then we're off! Guess now I can start packing and putting stuff in the guest room. This is exciting.

Here are the finished shirts. I think they look great. BK's Lumpy turned pink on the red shirt, so I made her a white one instead. That was the only goof on 30 shirts. Thanks for all the tips and advice. Oh, and my DH was really impressed with all the designs. Not that he'll wear any...

They are personalized scrapbook pages 6x6 printed on the computer. Mine are personalized for my children. On one side of the page it has the characters name. This is where you can put pictures of your child with the character. On the opposite page top mine says Merry Christmas Nicholas or Alyssa and the bottom it says Walt Disney World 2005. This page is where the autograph goes. Then you have something more of a keepsake other than the traditional autograph book.

I took the pictures after I came home. They have all been washed at least twice. :goodvibes We didn't have time to get the good ebay paper, so we used Avery from WalMart.

I posted yesterday that one of my shirts cracked too. I used the eBay paper for light shirts. I'm not sure what to do to fix the crack. If it had been the kind for dark shirts, I would have put down the parchment and ironed it smooth again. But I'm not sure what to do with the light shirts. I'm afraid I'll melt the design.

I printed them on a 6x6 sheet of paper - I bought an album at michael's and then put the photo pages and cards in the album once i got home -

at the park - I carry them in a ziploc bag with my sharpies - I also have a small clipboard that I put in there and the characters have a firm background to sign on

for Nick - I made them 4x6 b/c he is not really into the characters like Julia is - for the ones he actually gets signed - I buy a 4x6 Disney album at WDW and then mix the cards in with his pictures -

We took a quick trip in May and I did the same thing for Julia - she loves both books - I still have to do her picture pages from this trip

One was the snowy heffalump design (Denise has used it) and the other was a "classic" mickey group on a sleigh - landscape format.

Could anyone take off any lettering for me? My idea is that they will be Christmassy, but if they don't say Christmas the kids can wear them if its just chilly! :goodvibes

Off to parents evening (1st at new school for DS(12) )

Well - my sweet little boy is sick today - you know the kind of fever where you pick them up and you KNOW b/c they are so hot!!

I took his temp and it is 103.8 - we have a 2:45 doctor's appt. - he has been tugging on his ear and it is stinky! He hasn't moved off the couch or bed and when I took off his jammies and tried to put clothes on him he said "no - hot - no - hot" :guilty:

Poor babe! Sounds like an ear infection. My DD has a sore throat too. Hope they get better soon!

Denise and Steffy -- LOVE THE SHIRTS!!

I'm with Steffy, I love wearing my shirts so much that I wear them around town. I've started making them for non-Disney things we do, too. I posted some photos (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=10588308&postcount=11653) a few nights ago, but it was after everyone had gone to bed so I'm not sure if anyone saw them. I love them!!!

Jennifer

Jennifer - I loved your photos, but I think what I liked best was the back of the neck. That looked great! I love doing the unexpected, like putting a mickey head on my sleeve. I particularly loved the daisy duck on the back of the neck.

Kate, I was sitting here reading about Nick being sick and I get a phone call from the school clinic about Alex my 8yr old. He has had a headache w/ nasal stuffiness for 3 days. I have tried every over the counter decongestant that I can buy and nothing is working. As I am typing I am waiting for the pediatrician office to answer so I can get him an appointment. Don't you hate it when the little ones are sick.....they are so pittiful :guilty: :guilty:

I know he probably wouldn't get into a bathtub so try this.....Put a dry towel over his torso area and then lay over it a wet towel.......ring out the extra water.......that will cool his body down without having to move him. I tried that when one of my boys was 2yrs old and it got me thru the night without an emergency room visit. I thought the Dr. was crazy but it worked and I didn't have to fight with him in the tub.

Poor Nick and Alex. Tammi67's advice has worked for us. When my youngest was only 6 months old he started running 105 temp. We were sent to Children's Hospital because his white blood cell count was crazy. Turns out he had pneumonia, but while we were there the nurses told us to take all his clothes off but his diaper because the clothes hold the heat in.

Prayers and PD for all who are sick!

Tammi - I wouldn't worry too much about me giving you a run for your post count... I go through spells. If I'm actually doing my school, cleaning my house, spending time with DH, etc I post just once a day with lots of replies. Every now and then if I'm lazy I'll reply in several posts, but I try not to. (although maybe now that we've discovered this whole ranking, thing.... ). OMG :earseek: Steffy and I work together and usually go out to lunch. Today she went a little crazy. As we were leaving the restaurant, she sees a car just like hers, same color, same year, everything. The antenna topper is a Mickey head with a Santa Hat. She proceeds to follow the car even going through TWO stop signs. When the car proceeded to sneak thru the one way to go to a fast food place, she thought she should not keep following. "What if she thinks I am stalking her?", she says. Ya think?? Of course how could the girl know that the car following her with a Disney license plate, gold ear antenna topper on the dash and two Mickeys hanging from the rear view mirror, AND the crazy driver waving her was not a stalker????

I feel so bad for all of your kids!!!

Kate, I hope all goes well at the Doctor. Kyle had a realy high fever a couple of months ago (almost 104) but thank goodness it only lasted a day an a half. He loves the taste of medicine, so we kept punching in the Motrin every 6 hours. All he did was sit on Mommy's lap all day and doze in and out (and my little guy does not sit still for a single minute much less sit on my lap all day!!)

Denise, hope the ear surgery went well! Your shirts turned out great (I especially like the one with the names and the characters- I have to have one next year for Kyle!) I can't believe you are leaving soon! You guys are going to have so much fun!! One thing that we did that I am so glad we did, was have the camcorder on when we first walked into MK and turned the corner onto Main Street when Kyle saw the castle for the first time. His whole face lit up and he said "Oh my goodness- great big castle! Go see it! Go see Cinderumbrella!" I still tear up at that when I watch the tape.

Kate--you are probably at the doctor now. I hope everything goes well and that the fever breaks very soon. My ds wouldn't/couldn't take medication when he was little. He would either spit it out or throw it up as soon as it went down. Thank goodness he was almost never sick.

2 of my boys have always resisted meds. The ped told me to put the liquid form in 4-6 oz of juice or cool aid. Only give him the amount of juice that he will finish to be sure that he gets all the meds. I've done this with motrin, ibruprophen, antibiotics etc. The meds have always worked and they didn't even realize that they were taking meds.

Oh you are KILLING me! We did autographs last time ... but I just sort of winged it. I DID get scrapbooking supplies for this trip .. .a small album and filer pages. I was just going to have them sign blank pages. Your idea sounds incredible! Do you have any pics so I could get a better idea?

And you use different colored markers too ... (so did I) ... Mary Poppins commented when we picked red -- it is her favorite color!
