Hey Cincinnati DISers (and our near-enough neighbors) ... anyone happen to be in town and free on November 26th or December 3rd?

And are there more of you than I'm aware of? PM me if I don't know you live nearby :goodvibes

Kate and I have 3 times as many posts as anyone else. Guess the 2 of us are, um, a little chatty?

I'm wiped from decorating. If it doesn't move, it has something Christmas on it. I will say the house looks great. We'll do the outside next weekend.

Here's some pics from today!

Look on top of the soffit. I collect Christmas tins. I have over 50 so far.
I saw a little of the picture over the mantel. Is that a Bama picture?? My DS that is 11yrs old has a sports bedroom. He has some newspaper articles, posters, flags from UGA all over his walls.

Just for info, my teo boys wore their special T-shirts yesterday for Christian's birthday and were much admired!

As soon as I've downloaded the pics I'll try to post them

Just printed off the transfers for the Christmas pillowcases, plus for a T-shirt each for their Christmas stockings.

Don't know if Ill bother with a Christmas sweatshirt each, althgouh I suppose it would be a fun thing for them to wear to my DSis Christmas day!

I know! My tag is sooo fitting!! Amy should be on here thanking the Tag Fairy because the misspelling in my other tag (that was replaced) was driving her "bezerk" :rotfl: Hmmm...unless Amy is the TF :scratchin

Now she thinks the misspelling in my other tag (no, not GEAUX) is glaringly obvious, so Tag Fairy if you're still flitting about this thread, will you please put Amy out of her misery and correct withdrawal? (Oh and I know you don't take requests, but if you haven't met your tagging quota for the week, my Geaux Tigers would look really cool in purple) :)

LOL...everyone knows that Kevin and I go to bed before midnight!

And I'm cracking up that you quoted my "glaringly obvious!" :rotfl: But hey, you're the one who pointed out withdrawal was an error too...I was just hung up on berserk! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Denise -- your house is just gorgeous! I went to start decorating on Friday, and realized that if I didn't clean out the play room there would be no place for new toys this year, so we had to get that done before we could decorate. Thankfully, my DH and both boys helped me, but it still took most of the weekend since we had soccer games, baseball practice, a funeral, church etc., but we now have all the broken toys thrown away and almost 10 boxes of toys/stuffed animals to donate. And of course, that led to cleaning out the boys rooms so that we could donate that stuff too (and make room for their Christmas trees!).

Here's hoping you and the kids feel much better this week and that you can get their surgeries moved up so you can go to your family Thanksgiving.

I hope everyone has a great week!

Denise, You house looks amazing. I am also a Christmas Nut. I won't even tell you how many tote of stuff I have. What amazes me the most is how you house looks like it should be in a magazine and you have 3 five year olds. I bow to you. I can't keep my house in that condition with my 3 boys and the 2 I take care of. Of course having 3 pets doesn't help. It was really nice of you to share the photos. I'm now motivated to finish the outside. We won't decorate the inside until after Thanksgiving as I am having a huge birthday party for all 3 of my boys on the 23rd. I'm expecting about 50 family members. Maybe I should log off an clean.....Oh it wouldn't stay clean until the 23rd anyway.

Okay, so I did make shirts for each of us for the first day at MK. Not nearly as amazing as the ones on here, but they'll work.

I adore that one that shows the parks and says "So much to do..." When people post designs on here, are others allowed to use it or is that improper etiquette? I have some off white t-shirts that I haven't done anything with, yet, and I would love to make shirts with that design. I assume that the designer owns the copyright and certainly would NOT want to do anything inappropriate.

Thanks for the info.

Mary

PS If they designer doesn't have a problem with me using their design, would it be possible to have a full sized version emailed to me at tzuzoo@sbcglobal.net

I am NOT one of the master designers ;) but I do know that for most everyone on this thread (if not all), the deisgns are free to use, build off of, etc.... that's what's been so fantastic about the DDAs! All of our designers rock, and they're not selfish either :rotfl:

I have washed some shirts 4x's with no problems.
I used Avery for dark colors.
I haven't had to touch up a shirt yet no cracking.
I even dry in dryer.
Just turn them wrong side out.

Denise, I just wanted to say that your house looks beautiful!!

Also, I wanted to mention that I used to live in Alpharetta about 17 years ago. (You did say that's where you live, right?) My first husband was working near there, and I went back to school and got my masters at Georgia Tech while we lived there.

My brother and his family live in Roswell.

I moved back to Rochester, NY about 17 years ago, but my DS17 was born at North Fulton Regional Hospital just before we moved back.

My DS19 is a sophomore at Georgia Tech now so DH and I have gotten to Atlanta the last 2 summers to bring my son back to school.

I love it there (except for the traffic) and if we end up moving I would definitely consider living near there again.

Well, just wanted to mention the Alpharetta connection, although it's been a long time.

This is the family that Kevin originally created the monorail design for...they wore it to the 2nd MNSSHP we went to. We need to include Julie and her family (and Jennifer too) in our second game night...that is if there are survivors from our first game night. :rotfl2:

One day more....

I know someone asked about shirts with spandex/lycra in them. I have used ones with 5% in them (95% cotton) and they worked fine. I had to press them lightly after the second washing, but that could also be because I forgot about the laundry and it sat in the washer for awhile. Didn't need to after the first washing.

Hello everyone. I have been reading this thread off and on all day trying to get caught up and am finally done.

Denise - I haven't seen all of your photos (d*** dial-up) so they will have to wait until tomorrow when I am at work. From what I have seen, it looks beautiful. My dh was outside yesterday hanging garland/lights since the weather here is so mild. We go to Pittsburgh for Thanksgiving, so it is either before then or after that we get our decorating done. I also have to tell you that last night I dreamt that I bumped into you at WDW. Actually it was your kids that I recognized and then you. You all were on your way to one of the exploration trails. I know...strange.

Brendita - thanks for the heads up on the Narnia screening. That is my ds's 6th bday, so it would make a great present.

I am 4th in replies on this thread. Pretty good for not producing a single design. Just goes to show that I am all talk and no action.:rotfl:

BTW, I love the new designs, too.

Wow!! I logged off the thread last Friday around this time and I can't believe I came back to 50 pages!!! We weren't even that close to 11,000 at that point and now we're over half way to 12000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I loved reading all the new tags- sniff, sniff, perhaps someday the tag fairy will notice the rest of us :rolleyes1

Triplefigs, hope the kiddos feel better soon and your house looks great!
I also have about 20 + boxes of Christmas stuff but DH won't let me put them up until after Thanksgiving. He takes DS2 out on Black Friday to shop and I start putting up all the stuff. I will post pictures- I think we all should post- at least of your tree if nothing else.

Glad to see everyone else is doing OK- I am eager to hear how Mac's wife did and all about Rosie Jo's big day!!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that does this.

A couple of years ago, my kids complained that they never got to go to any of the fun Christmas parties that DH and I do. They would watch me all day long getting appetizers and party food ready to go and they never got to taste them. So, I decided we'd try something new. It's gone over so well, that we do it every year now. We put the tree up on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I spend the day making appetizers (meatballs, Chex mix, cheese balls, clam dip, li'l smokies, hot cider, cocoa, cookies), and we spend the evening with Christmas music, good food, and the kids decorate the tree. They feel like they are getting a "grown up" party and we all have a good time.

They feel like they are getting a "grown up" party and we all have a good time.

ACK! That didn't work. I think you have to be signed into your Visa account to see it.

What a FANTASTIC idea!!!!!!

I know this sounds lame ---- but when decorating a tree - I have to have take-out pizza!

Growing up, we always went to my Nana's to decorate her tree. Everyone had assigned jobs etc. But the best part was we would get take-out pizza! Growing up we got it so very infrequently. (child of the 70's) It was a MAJOR treat to have it. So .... even though we have it nearly every other week or so here .... I have to have have when decorating. :)

Sorry to ask this question again but I can't find the answer. I have searched and searched.
I received my transfer paper for macntosh today and don't know which is which. One sheet has the purple strip and the other sheet has the red & blue strip. Also does anyone have the directions for the light sheets. I printed out the directions for the dark that were posted on page 719.
Thanks

Pizza is cool, but for doing the tree, I HAVE to have eggnog and Kahlua(I use milein mine) AND I have to have the christmas shows on, like the Grinch or Santa Clause is Coming to Town, something classic to a kid of the 70's...

I got the kids outside for a couple of hours today so I got a few more decorations up. It was kind of funny, I was putting up Christmas Decorations and my dn was singing Grand Ole Flag. I asked her to sing Christmas songs, but she seemed to be in patriotic mode. Must have learned them for Veterans Day.

Hi, all! Thanks so much for the sweet comments about my house. Yes, it is pretty clean all the time, Deb. My DH is a Type A clean-a-holic and cleans all the time (I love it!). Ellenbenny, cool about Alpharetta. Small world. Let me know if your DS ever needs anything at GT. DH works at the 9th street exit a block from the Varsity.

Well, we did get the surgery moved to this Thursday, the 17th!~ Yea! So I get to enjoy Thanksgiving with my family. :grouphug:

Bad news, my car died in the carpool line this am and barely made it to the Auto shop. My transmission is shot and it's costing me $3000. :earseek: :badpc: :headache: Won't have my van back until Wed, so the kids and I are home all day tomorrow. The one with the red and blue stripes should be the paper for dark shirts. I don't know how to post add on so maybe someone else will put up the instructions. for the dark paper. I made three shirts today and they came out great. I am so pleased with them. The hardest part was deciding what color shirt to print the designs on.

Amen to that! I went today and Old Navy had short sleeve women's shirts. I got 2 white, a black, and a light blue 100% cotton. I also have my red, black, white, and sage green 95% cotton/5% spandex shirts. I'm going to try one on the cotton blend shirts first. If it does ok, I'll use them (they're old and don't fit as well). Then I can return the new ones. If not, I'll be using the ones from ON today.

Do you all think that my Christmas GF shirt would look ok on a black shirt? I'm doing the 4 parks on white, the blue Mickey/Minnie parade on the light blue, the GF on black, and the palm tree Mickey on either red or white.

:goodvibes Although DS never complained (too young) we started something similar last year. It was still on the warm side when we decorated so we built a fire, turned the a/c down low, and drank hot chocolate and ate kid friendly food and cookies. Same as you and Triplefigs we turn the music on while we eat and decorate. I love it and we'll keep doing it every year.
BTW, my very favorite Christmas music to decorate to is the soundtrack from A Charlie Brown Christmas. As a matter of fact, that's the first CD I play every year. We have a rule of no Christmas until after Thanksgiving, so right after dinner the CD goes in.

Denise -- come out, come out, wherever you are! I know you're out there....

BOO!!!!

Congrats on the trip and Unka Hunka you are stopping in Atlanta to say hi, right?

Jennifer, the designs are awesome. Aren't you supposed to be studying and packing?

Thanks to all for the good wishes about the kids and nice comments on the house. I'm very excited to get to spend Thanksgiving with my family. And DH's family is joining us too so it will be one big celebration.

Deb and everyone, thanks for the tips on printing the shirts. Do I need to do a test for each pattern? I did one test, and it looks fine. Should I be ok then?

MMM, Loved the pictures of your girls. Cuties and great shirts!

DH and I are going to fix it this last time, but talk to my Dad about a new van. His friend buys car at wholesale auctions, and we can get one cheap through him. My Chrysler T&C is only a 98 and has 75,000 miles. It *should*last a lot longer!

Happpy Birthday, Julie!

Hope I didn't miss anything else.

Denise - Wish we could stop in Atlanta, but alas, not on this trip. We drove down there last year and would have loved the diversion. This trip we arrive on Sunday at 5 and are outta there on Wednesday by 4.

Loved the house and really glad Thanksgiving is working out. Here's some PD for the surgery :wizard:

Anybody have any favorite restaurant at WDW? Which ones and why?? Always looking for others favorites.

Yeah, sort of  Well, actually I'm ok for tonight. I am going to bed though, I'm BEAT! I got about 3.5 hours of sleep last night because once I finally got around to studying I remembered a case study that was due at 8:30 this morning. I need a VACATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But Tuesday and Wednesday are just clinicals, work, etc so I can get by with slacking a bit ;)

Have a good night, all!

Ok, here are my shirts for printing tomorrow. Please take a look at the designs and tell me if ANYTHING would make them better. I will tell you the day, park, and color shirt the design is going on.

Day 1 at MK. Boys on white, BK on light pink shirt.
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b175/DenisePersonal/Day1.jpg

Day 2 rest and MVMCP. Dinner at CP. Designs front and back on red shirts boys, either red or white BK. Would you put Lumpy on the front? ETA: we will be changing after dinner. The boys have gorgeous Christmas sweaters to wear and BK has a Santa dress with hat for the pictures and party. If we get hot, they can strip back down to the shirts/pants and leggings for her.
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b175/DenisePersonal/Day2.jpg

Day 3 at Epcot. Boys on orange and navy ringer t's (their favorite colors) and BK white.

Day 5 is a rest day. DTD, Sleigh Ride, WCC dinner, and Wishes Cruise. All Shirts white.

Ok Denise - I have just two suggestions:

Day 2: I would put Lumpy on the back and the traditional on the front. They take your picture at the party in front of a nice background and I think the traditional look of Mickey would look better on your whole family for the picture.

I vote for the picture frame for BK - if she wants to look more "grown up". If she's going for girlie, then the flowers.

Here's an update on our Atlanta layover: We will be in Atlanta on Sunday January 22 for about two hours, from 2-4. Care to spend part of your Sunday sittin' in the airport???

Man o man Denise! I can't vote on that! I like both the BK ones!!! Plus I am doing what you are and I can't make my own decisions :confused3 ! I have that priness one too, DD wants it on a light purple tee. I iron my first set today! Ruin the first shirt, then got it down!

I am soooo stinking excited to go!!! 16 days!!!!!!! :flower:

Ok back to topic, my hints for ironing are:

! Use a link brush! On all shirts, just to get them clean. I had 1 tiny lint hair show up in one spot and it ironed in, thank god that was one the first shirt, after that I de-linted all to be safe.

Keep the iron moving- never stop! Be careful the paper is covering the design totally when touching up edges, mistake #2 same shirt!

And make sure the transfer sheets are clean and not a lint or anything on them or they will iron in too, this is easy to mess up because we take the paper off and put it down between ironing-- careful where you place it.

Ok thats it for now!

Love the shirts and am looking closely so I can recognize you and yours!

Guess I should have noted that the Christmas shirts will be for dinner only. Then the kids have GORGEOUS Christmas sweaters and BK has a Santa dress with hat to wear. We will put on the other clothes after dinner. So for the picture we'll have on more "formal" stuff. Now which way to do the shirt? Remember, we're eating at CP with Pooh and the Gang.

Hi everyone! I was a big follower on this thread back in August, but I made my t-shirts at the last minute ... we did the iron-ons in the hotel! Yikes!

Anyway, I thought I would share my designs. The first two were from my DD's 6th birthday. I made a special t-shirt using iron-on transfers for both her and one for her cousin.

This is my DD in her Ariel t-shirt.
http://personalpages.tds.net/%7Erb/DIS/shirt2.jpg

Here is her cousin with her Belle t-shirt:

http://personalpages.tds.net/%7Erb/DIS/shirt1.jpg

Here is the back of the t-shirts:

http://personalpages.tds.net/%7Erb/DIS/shirt5.jpg

I also made some t-shirts with fabric paints. I cut Mickey Stencils from Freezer Wrap, ironed them onto the shirts and used sponges to paint the shirts. My shirt (and my DH's, not pictured) were both blue. The girls' shirts were both pink and I outlined the Mickey Head with rhinestones. The girls loved them! Honestly, the more "home-made" fabric paint shirts got far more attention than the fancier computer transfer shirts.

Okay...that is not why I was posting...back to the important things in life....WDW obsessive planning. My husband has been referring to me as the "My wife the Disney geek."
I saved a design on my hard drive and did not identify who made it. I can not figure out how to copy & paste it here so you gals (& guys) can see it. It has the 6 princesses and tinkerbell and said Magical Disney Trip in pastel colors. I was wanting to see if the designer could personalize. Can anyone help? I was hoping someone would said "Hey.....that was mine". Thanks!!

Denise,
Personally I like the frame better than the flowers. With the flowers the dresses kind of blend in and you can't really see her pretty face all that well. The frames are much more clearer and she is more defined since she is a different color than the background.

Although I think you should let her decide. It is her shirt to wear and you wouldn't want her to not like what Mom choses for her to wear. Although I am sure she loves both of them.

Denise - I did not have to debate at ALL!! Definately the frame shirt it shows of BK's gorgeous face and smile!!

I pick the Pooh only design without Mickey - obviously I think the designer did a FABULOUS job on both of them :rotfl: but I think the characters REALLY react when they are on a shirt and will react more to the shirt without Mickey - it is harder to see pooh on the other shirt (think about that inside a costume!!)

I made all of Julia's designs 6x8 either way it turned -

Jet Blue just released cheaper fares, but tonight we booked Rochester to Orlando quite cheap on Delta. The fastest way that I did this was to go to the Rochester airport and then to each carrier to see their prices (the Roc airport isn't that big). Does Southwest fly out of your airport? If so, sign up for their DING fares (southwest.com) Your computer will ding when a cheap fare comes up.

Good luck!

Okay, you're all going to laugh. I have been so swamped with work and I am so behind in reading this thread that I just realized that we have a new home!! Oh my gosh! How fabulous!! So exciting! (Okay, that's it, I have to catch up on my reading over Thanksgiving.)

Since I'm not used to our new home, and thus all the new postings, I hope I'm posting these in the right place.

Here are the shirts that Momof2OH designed for me to wear to the NASCAR races at TX Motor Speedway two weekends ago. (Note, DBF and I are big Donald and Daisy fans):

I wore this one on Friday night to the truck race:

Thank you!!!

Airtran! Watch their website, we got our direct flights from Dayton for under $200 (AFTER taxes, etc)

Denise - so sorry to hear about your car!!!! But I'm very glad your kids' surgery worked out so you could spend Thanksgiving with your family!

I missed this! I'll have to go back and read more. I'm also sorry about whatever happened to your car and thrilled that you'll be able to spend Thanksgiving with your family.

Ok - Guess what? I'm going to need a couple more t-shirts!!! You all know hunka hunka and what a great guy he is, well - since I got so sick on our last trip to WDW last month, he's taking me back for my birthday!!!! What a great guy!! My dad has agreed to come up to watch Matt so he doesn't miss any school and Paul and I will go by ourselves. GASP! An adult only trip - boy Matt's going to be mad when he finds out!

So we're heading to WDW Jan. 22-25, 2006. Yippeeeeeeee

Lucky you!!!! I wish my dh would surprise me with a trip. I have to fight tooth and nail to go anywhere (and then find the way to pay for it).

Have lots of fun!! Are you going to wear the "Feel free to treat me like a princess" shirt for your birthday? I'm so excited for you. :Pinkbounc

By the way, I just noticed that you are in Fairport, NY. I spent 6 years in Henrietta (RIT + 2 years working at U of R Med Center). We'll wave in your general direction on our way through to the Buffalo area next week.

Please vote on which design to use: picture frame or flower!

If it's not too late to vote, I'd choose frame. I really like them both, though, so you can't go wrong either way.

Since you are going to CP for dinner, I'd put the Lumpy design on the front. I love the other design, too, so I hope it gets noticed.

Denise - Sorry to hear about your car :sad2: . Glad to hear that the surgery was moved up and you get to spend Thanksgiving with your family :goodvibes . The pixie dust must have worked :wizard: .

Day 3 - I pick the orange t-shirt for the boys. I think the design would show up better.
Day 4 - I vote for the picture frame for BK
Day 7 - Did you think about using red t-shirts for your Christmas design?

All your designs came out GREAT. I'm sure you will get tons of compliments.

3 of us with our shirts:

http://personalpages.tds.net/%7Erb/DIS/shirt3.jpg

A close up showing the rhinestones:

nice shirts! I'll have to try paints one day too!

Thanks for the compliments :).

I combined two or more colors on the painted t-shirts. For instance, I sponged the pearl pink on first and then "highlighted" it with a pearl white. My t-shirt is mostly blue, but also has some hints of the girl's pink and a "highlight" of pearl. BTW, I used one of the mickey heads offered on this thread as the stencil :).

Denise -- I also vote for the frame shirt for B-K. It makes the pictures pop and is easier to see all the pictures, instead of "floating" in to each other, but whichever one she wears, she'll look beautiful! Those are truly amazing shirts and even through they are fantastic, it's your kids that really shine with those amazing smiles!

I can't wait to see the pictures of the kids in them, and your excitement over your trip is contagious! I'm starting to panic that I haven't started my shirts yet.... This is my busiest season at work -- sending out 4200 company cards and over 350 gifts to clients. I'm going to delegate more of it this year so I'm not working 16 hour days. Now back to work!!!

My email address is feldmannk@yahoo.com if anyone needs to get in touch with me

EDITED TO ADD: I am okay - as is my family - I am a little overwhelmed and some things might come to a head in the next few days that could hinder my ability to keep designing - I do not want to take requests and not be able to follow through with them -

this could go either way at this point - if things blow over - I will start taking design requests sometime next week

Ok all. The weather is cold and rainy today so I have shifted into craft mode. I have a big craft show coming up on the 3rd so I must get something made. I started my hooded towel sets. I have many baby blankets to make, but haven't gotten to them yet. I did however find time to outline a christmas tree on a white long sleeved t-shirt and I got it basted. Now if I get the others to this point I'll be able to soak them in the soda ash and start tie dying.

My anniversary is New Year's Eve and DH and I want to take an anniversary trip - in-laws will watch the kids Jan 5-6-7 - now where can I get cheap airfare? any ideas?
Kate, how kind of you to get married on my birthday! I will be 28 (for the 6th time) on 12/31. When you say "anniversary trip," are you thinking WDW? I'm too chicken to fight the New Year's Eve crowds, but I just might have to go for my 40th birthday despite them.

I'm sorry to see that you won't be designing for a while. I hope whatever is keeping you too busy for us is a good thing. Maybe you just found a big bag full of money and all your creative energies are going into finding ways to spend it? (Just as long as it's not a big bag full of pennies...) Or perhaps Disney called and is offering you a work-from-home job designing T-shirts for $150 an hour? Whatever it is, I wish you well.

I've finally started to print out some of the designs for our shirts. I'm just curious..... for those of you who have already printed your designs - approximately how many color cartridges did it take you to print out all of your designs? I started with the cartridge that was already in my computer. I just printed out about 14 designs and my printer is telling me my color cartridge is low. I have a ton of designs left to print and I'm just wondering if I'll be able to pull it off with just one brand new cartridge. Long story short: How many designs did you print and how many cartridges did it take you to print them?
Thanks a bunch

I do mirror for the light ebay paper, YES????

Goingforbroke
11-15-2005, 02:08 PM
Light paper:
Step 1:
Insert a single sheet of transfer paper into the printer with the printable surface loaded corrrectly for your printer. REVERSE YOUR IMAGE BEFORE PRINTING. When printing multiple transfers, use plain paper setting, 360 dpi, Photo Glossy setting will give a BRIGHTER image, but requires a longer dry time. Transfers printed using the Photo Glossy Setting should be fed one sheet at a time to avoid smearing the image. After printing, trim away unprinted area around your image.
Step 2: Preparing to Hand Iron
Preheat iron on highest cotton setting for 5 min. or until very hot. DO NOT USE STEAM. For proper pressure, use an ironing surface that is waist level or below. DO NOT USE AN IRONING BOARD. Fold a pillowcase in half and place it on the ironing surface with the open end hanging over the edge. Iron the pillocase to remove wrinkles. Place the garment over the center of the pillowcase. Iron the garment to remove wrinkles. Center transfer, image side DOWN onto garment
Step 3: Time Required for Hand Iron
Full page iron for 3 minutes
If 1/2 page or smaller, move iron continuously in circles with firm pressure
1/2 page iron for 90 seconds
1/4 page iron for 45 seconds
Smaller than 1/4 page, iron for 30 seconds
Step 4: Ironing with Hand Iron:
Hold the iron with both hands and keep your arms as straight as possible (use your bodyweight to help apply firm pressure). Firmly slide the iron from right to left making 4 passes across the page, each pass lasting 20 seconds. Holding the iron the same way, firmly slide it from bottom to top making 5 passes across the page, each lasting 20 seconds. Make sure to pass over all edges
Step 5: Bakc Paper Removal With Iron:
Peel the transfer starting from on corner using firm steady pressure. If paper tears or is difficult to peel, warm the backing paper and proceed to peel.

Hope this helps. Sorry for the typo's. I can't post a picture, so I just typed it up quickly.
