Hey kelleigh1 why would anyone call you Rachel when your name is raquel. That's my cousins name by the way.

Because some people just aren't very bright. Raquel is actually the Spanish equivilant of Rachel...but I'm not the least bit Spanish. My last name is Italian. But I'm not Italian either.

I really like my name for it's uniqueness. At my old job, I once had this long conversation with a guy about my name. He kept saying what a great name it was and I explained about people always calling me Rachel and he said he couldn't understand why. We talked for a while about my name and then discussed whatever business he was calling about and then when we were ending the call, he says "thank you Rachel. It was nice talking to you." Ugh!!

Okay recent big shirt number makers (Kate, Cinderumbrella, and anyone else)....How long did it take you to do all of your shirts (and how many did you make)? I REALLY want to make shirts for us, but just haven't had time to do more than collect designs. Now we are 13 days from our trip with this weekend dedicated to Christmas shopping and I am still tempted to undertake the feat. How many shirts could I reasonably do in a weekend while still not ignoring DD? (Though I am considering asking Daddy to take her to do something one day since we'll be gone for so long without him.)

What do you think? Can I do it? There are 3 of us for 4 days and 2 of us for the remaining 7 days.

I washed and dried all the shirts one day, printed all the designs another, cut all the designs another and took 2 days (about 2 hours each day since I did it during DS2's nap). It really wasn's that bad!

Whew, you guys posted 10 pages since I logged off this afternoon!!!

So I am trying to catch up:

Denise, hope the kiddos (and you) feel better soon! Kyle and I both came back from WDW with a nasty cold (mine started at MNSSHP- must have blown my nose 5 times while waiting for Its a Small World!)

I have 87 posts on this thread (and only just over 300 on the whole board!!) and I picked it up somewhere around page 350 +/- (I was silly enough to read all the previous pages first!)

Poor Kate, please don't leave us  We'll be good, we promise!!

Thought of a funny story from our trip. We were walking to the bus stop at POR on our way to MNSSHP so I already had my Minnie costume on. Some young girls (probably about 4 or 5 years old) were coming from the main building- I think they had just gotten there. Anyway, they see me walking and start screaming "There's Minnie!!!" and proceed to run after me with their autograph books. I thought their parents were going to keel over from laughter! ::MinnieMo

My friend was side sacked by her family! 3 of them are joining us at WDW!! She would like to make them t-shirts, so I decided on the design that has the four parks and it says Walt Disney World under it- No problem. My problem is that I got my paper from Macintosh today- but no instructions etc- I don't know which are the dark and which are the light!

Can anyone tell me? One page has a purple line go from top to bottom- the other has 2 lines going across the paper that are blue and red.

One more request-

Kate- the design I want to use is on your site- it's the one with the 4 parks in squares and then the squares all come together and make a diamond and it says Walt Disney World under it, but hwen I copy it on an 8x10 it pixelates-is there a way to make it clearer???

My first post was on page 3, post #32 and this makes my 197th post on this thread.

Denise, I hope your kids feel better soon. My middle son had many ear infections from 8 mths through 18 mths or so. He never ran a fever with any of his ear infections. It is so hard to decide when to take kids to the doctors and when to wait it out. I hope that they have a quick recovery. I'm sure they will be raring to go in 24 -48 hours just from the anitbiotics.

I had to work tonight and came back to 8 pages. You guys sure like to talk.

I was just reading the ranting post on the Crafting board. No one over there seems to know why the "T-shirt" people felt that they weren't welcomed. If I remember correctly there were just a couple of people that complained that we were posting so frequently that our post stayed at the top of the forum. That was the only complaint that stands out in my mind. I actually enjoyed being on that forum as I love to sew and make crafts so I spend time over there anyway. Since I consider what we do a craft it makes sense. I also understand that making the shirts is part of many peoples trip planning so we fit on this board too. We were never asked as a community where we wanted to be and honestly I don't think we care as long as we can keep posting. I hope that the forum changes happen quickly over there because most people are resistant to change and that is what is driving the negativity over there. We probably would have had our share had we known what was going to happen (twice now). I'm sure that the adjustment won't be nearly as bad as the not knowing what is going to happen. They are probably worried that they will not be able to communicate in the same manner as they had been. Perhaps they will see that we stuck together through the change and have actually grown into a large community because of it. Change can be good. I hope they will embrace it and I hope that it happens quickly. For anyone that joined this thread while we were hosted there I for one am happy that you are with us and I will certainly still visit over there often.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Paul,

How many different signature pictures have you had tonight? I have counted at least 3. Have I missed any?

My fave is the 7 Dwarfs (if it matters).

Three so far, I'm just taking them for a test drive.

Why do I always end up in the middle of everything.:confused3 No matter if I try or not I am always in the middle of everything.

I'm staying out of that whole mess because I was on that board doing scrapping swaps and things before this thread existed. But have also read this since the beginning but just haven't posted all that much until reccently.

It never fails I end up in the middle of everything. I guess it is because I am interested in anything and everything.

Apparantly that generation is fond of the wooden spoon!!! :rotfl:

all my mom had to do was open the drawer - she would jerk it open really hard so all the utensils clanged together and she came upstairs to 4 "sleeping" angels - cause ain't no way we were going to show any sign of life once the spoon was out!!! :rotfl: Funny thing is - I think I only got swatted with it one time -that was all it took!!!

you know how yahoo has their buzz page and talks about what is being searched - here is a blurb from tonight's buzz

There's something about the name Kate. It conjures up images of the girl next door: healthy, beautiful, someone who hates the DH rule, and can turn straight men speechless with a smile. That's what we think of when we think of Kate. You might imagine something slightly less stalkerish. (ETA: unless you are Amy) Regardless, with plenty of Kates in the news, we took the opportunity to check out who's most popular in Search.

Surprisingly - I did not make the top 10 Kate searches in Yahoo :confused3

yes lyn5 post directions.
Well, I really wanted to make a flour/water shirt for MVMCP...but I could only find purple fabric spray here...I don't have too many craft stores and when I tried to order the paint online it would have taken too long to come. So I choose to make 4 red shirts with a flour/water design and then used liquid tulip paint to paint around...that is how I started.
DH enlarged this punch image for me and printed it on cardstock...I cut out the black part:
http://www.mousememories.com/storefront/images/eksuccess/DPM003.jpg
Then, I layed it on the red shirt (with a cardboard in the shirt so the paint didn't go though the other side) and filled it up with flour and water:
http://photobucket.com/albums/a367/Lyn5/th_DSC03045.jpg
I let it dry some, then painted two layers of white paint and one layer of silver glitter over the Mickey:
http://photobucket.com/albums/a367/Lyn5/th_DSC03069.jpg
I let it dry, then removed the flour/water and washed the shirt:
http://photobucket.com/albums/a367/Lyn5/th_DSC03079.jpg http://photobucket.com/albums/a367/Lyn5/th_DSC03080.jpg
The paint dryed over the mixture and it took a while to get it all off. After the red shirts, I just used the cardstock pattern and painted inside the area...I will post those next....they were very easy to do.

I layed the cardstock on the shirt (the shirt had a cardboard inside) and taped the cardstock down well, then my DD(3 1/2) used a sponge to paint in the white. I touched up the white a little, added a layer of silver glitter. Next, I gently removed the cardstock while the paint was wet and outlined the castle with the silver glitter:

EMERGENCY! EMERGENCY!!!

HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got my paper and the instructions said the dark has a double stripe on it and the light has a purple stripe. Hope I'm not too late posting this for you.

I've been back from my cruise since late Sunday night. I was caught up on this thread late Wednesday night, but by then was too tired to post. Had company last night, and now I have another 20 or so pages to catch up on! Was going to wait until I was caught up - but I had to post this: I got my travel documents and luggage tags from the Disney Travel Company in the mail yesterday!!!!! (24 days to go).    I probably could have had them before yesterday, but while I was away my granddaughter took her car to the car wash and vacuumed the mailbox key into their system!!! It took me from Monday until yesterday to get the mail carrier to bring the mail back to the post office so I could pick it up. There was about 10 days' worth. Last night the park manager (I live in a mobile home) finally brought me a new key. Lessen learned - make copies of the mailbox key!!!

So you don't risk damaging your work printer email the design to yourself and open it at home and print it. I had to break down and buy some ink at home so I didn't get caught at work.

Has anyone tried putting the designs on sweatshirts yet? I am already thinking ahead to our trip next December and would like to make a couple of Christmas sweatshirts for my in-laws to give them this Christmas since they are coming with us next year.

I have used the light transfer paper on Hanes 50/50 sweatshirts in the past. Everything worked out fine, and the transfer has held up very well. Be a little extra careful with the heat...don't go for too long. Also, the shirt may look like it change color where heated, but it will be fine once it cools down (as long as it isn't actually scorched or melted).

I am putting together a whole Disney Travel package for them since MIL is an even more psychotic planner than me (and I didn't think that was possible :teeth: ) I brought back park maps for all the parks, the 2006 Birmbaum book for the parks and guide to dining. Anyone else have any ideas what to put in this for them?

If she is a psychotic planner, she may really like the Passporter. There are places to write information/ADR's/etc. as well as pockets in the book to hold things.

Which transfer paper did you use? I have been using the Avery which has held up well through a couple of washes now (except on my t shirts that had a little stretch to them- the designs started to crack a little on those)

Ok, I'm finally caught up again. I spent the last 3 hours outside starting to put up my Christmas Decorations. It usually takes me 12 hours or so to get all of the outside decorations up. You should see my electric bill for December. :earseek: :earseek: Yikes. Some cute new designs.
Macntosh. How does your wife feel overall. The plane ride would probably be the worst and you'd have to do most of the work with your daughter and wife to tend to. You've been looking forward to it for so long. Maybe she will respond quickly to the meds and feel fine tomorrow.

I am almost positive it was Avery paper....just went to look...it is Avery 3271.

I made my dd and her friends llama shirts (don't ask!). It is almost a year old. She wears it for pajamas now, and it's washed about once a week. It still looks great.

Kate - I love the new designs.

Mac - Keep us updated please. We are all praying that you can still make you trip and your wife gets well soon. Like a previous poster said, the worst part would be flying. Can you postpone it by a week or so? I would say go and if she feels that bad she can stay in the room and rest, but if it were me, I would not want to miss my daughter seeing the World for the first time (it is her first time, isn't it?). On the other hand, of course a doctor is going to tell you to postpone. It's that whole "liability" thing. If he says "yeah, go on, go" and something happens, then.....lawsuit! You all know what is best. :wizard: :grouphug:

I love the new Heffalump Christmas designs and the Candlelight Processional one. I can hardly wait 2 years til we go at Christmastime. I could use a vacation right now. I hardly slept the whole time I was in the hospital with my sweetie. I just hope we don't have to go back.

Just back from the ENT. Well, she ended up seeing all 3 of the kids. Bottom line is they are all three having surgery on 11/23 (day before Thanksgiving) at noon. Having to cancel our Thanksgiving trip to see my family. She said they had to have new tubes and drain their ears or no flying. All three kids have horrible ear infections. They will take the tube out of the ear on Davis that has the perforation and hope it heals. Then replace that tube at a later date.

So, now I'm totally stressed, have like 15 shirt requests in my PM box, don't know when I'm going to have time to do stuff... Just a little pity party at the moment, but I am going to have to NIX all shirt requests until after the surgery and trip.

Anyone want to have my UFO designs and help with all my PM requests? Pretty much will entail putting ornaments on trees and personalizing them.

Thanks for the good wishes.

I can't Freaking believe it. We leave in less then 24 hours, my wife goes to see the Dr. and she has broncitas and possible could come down with Pnumonia. What the F to do?

Doctor recomends canceling the trip.

I say go. Bring her meds and go. Rest in the afternoon and keep the walking at a slow pace. The weather should be warm and that will be good for her. Still a hard decision to make sending :wizard: your way.

We did some house cleaning for her and will assist with the packing tonight. Thanks for the prayers and pixie dust. We are going to just make that push.

They are still complaining over on that other thread. Now we are being called "snotty".

suddenly we were informed that change was going to happen and it didn't matter if we liked it or not and here were are choices. Right now, it's a nice board, you have a little of this, a little of that. I like reading the cooking posts, but I tend to skip the craft ones (except perhaps the x stitch cause I'm not usually in a crafty mood). It's nice to be able to randomly post about dd and irish dance, or target or whatever, enabling alerts, etc. and then the tshirt people got particularly rude and were all being snotty (sorry, just how I saw it) and then they got their own board back which was like sticking a knife in our backs because quite frankly tshirts is a craft, end of conversation. So that's why I got bent.

I am guessing nothing

funny thing is - they said we were a bunch of whiners and got our way and a new board - although notice that none of us tried to say how we thought their board should be run even when we thought we were staying - we were the new kids and kept our mouths shut - and we never complained ONCE!!

well - their whining got them their way and they still are ragging on us

I will tell you based on PM's I got yesterday - that there are a vocal few over there and everyone else was afraid to say anything to them - I got plenty of kudos for my post from scrappers!!!

Hello, I have been lurking and I love all the design ideas. Does anyone have any good Alice clips that I could use to make DD a shirt for her tea party with Alice for our December Trip? I was going to group Alice with the tea party mad hatter scene but cannot find anything I really like. Thanks!

We used the one that Julia & Nicks mom has in her photobucket account. I printed it on a bright pink shirt. It looked great! My DD said that Alice loved it & they all made a fuss over it. Sorry I can't post a picture of it yet. How many post do I have to do in order to do attachments? Maybe I shoud go post a million times on a test board. I am more of a reader than a poster.

I wish we could do more than just send good wishes. At least she saw all three and you are being pro-active to help them. You are still able to go as long as the surgery goes well right?? Lots of pixie dust from me and hunka hunka.

They are definitely cranky and not feeling great, but they aren't running a temp! I knew it was getting worse, but I had no idea it was as bad as it is. I never thought they'd want surgery before the trip. They even went to a b'day party last pm and school today. With Advil, they seem to perk up ok. We're taking it easy this weekend and will take next week day by day.

Yes, she said the trip was fine. She just said they HAD to have new tubes (Rees' are completely out and he has double ear infections, Davis' left tube is blocked/not draining and the right ear has the large hole/perferation, and BK left is ok with severe right) before flying. They also are going to drain their ears and try to fix Davis' perforation and remove that tube so the ear drum can heal on its own. She said if we don't do surgery, we have to drive and they can't go on lots of the rides. So we're trying to get it done quickly. In fact, I'm calling Monday to see if we can do it next week. I'm missing Thanksgiving with my parents, Brother and SIL, and my 82 year old grandmother due to the surgery. I'm very sad about that, so if I can move the surgery up to next week we should be able to do Thanksgivng (we were travelling 5 hours) too.

So, PD wishes that we can actually do surgery NEXT WEEK!!!
