I just hope that all the time she will have to spend catching up will not lead to the shortest marriage in history!!

Tonight DH asked me what the divorce rate on our thread is :rotfl:

When she posted her pic with the red hair - I thought it was ironic that her name was rosie and she had red hair!!! I did think it was probably a nickname!

I have a shirt question (quick, don't faint). Why can't I iron them on my ironing board? I'm so confused. I have this giant heavy weight glass (or something that looks like glass) cutting board. It's huge. You're supposed to leave it on your counter all the time to place hot pots, etc on it so you don't scorch the counters (or table, Kate!). Can I press them on that?

I'm going to wash the boys shirts tomorrow. Got to get the color printer and will start shirts by this weekend. Woohoo!

Just trying to catch up Denise. The ironing board dispurses the heat too quickly. What I did was to take that cutting board, put it inside a pillow case that you don't care about, place that on the ironing board and then put the t-shirt on that. By using the cutting board, it keeps the heat in a smaller area. By putting it on the ironing board, it saves your back!!

HELLO!! Who are the ones acting like they are in High school!!!

Actually, it's more like jr. high. I had a whole reply written over there and then wisely closed it without submitting it.

I know that I don't post much, but I think this is a terrific board filled with terrific people and tons of talent. I hate to see you so maligned. As I tell my own middle school dd, there are times it's best to do what you do best and ignore the naysayers around you. We know what happened and don't need to respond to their petty attacks.

On with the great designs, awesome support, and your regularly scheduled Coke breaks!

What is up with this comment......from the scrapbook thread...

there is nothing wrong with the way the boards are set up now, but someone got cranky and decided that they didn't like it. And then the tshirt people got moved to the crafting/scrapping/etc board and got mad so they complained and got moved back to where ever they came from......

It was an adjustment when we got moved but I don't remember complaining. I was fine where we were and even happier where we are now. Thanks Baloo for everything....you did great!!!

KMH1
11-10-2005, 09:35 AM

Back to a happier topic.....GAME NIGHT!!!

Kate and Amy.....ya'll need to discuss having an "open" time for the rest of us to join in on the fun. Maybe just 45 min or an hour. We don't want to crash the game night but it would be fun. Of course you would have to get Julia's permission.

for those of you who already read the other thread - here is my reply

I tried really hard to be diplomatic:

As one of those t-shirt people - I would like to explain to you what happened -

We did not complain about being here - actually I believe it was you guys that complained about us being here. We posted on one thread and pretty much kept to ourselves - some scrappers actually joined in and if you ever read our thread - you would see that we are a pretty welcoming group and have a lot of fun.

Baloo has been our moderator from the beginning and has put a lot of sweat and tears into our thread and was very sad when she was no longer our moderator and so she got permission from the powers to be to move us back to the TPAS board - we actually had a lot more traffic when we were over there than when we were here

why are we there? You might be amazed at how many people ask over there - has anyone ever made a homemade shirt for your trip - and no offense to you all but most people don't even know there is a crafting board so they ask on the trip planning board - so yes - that was taken into consideration

it seems to me that you are all being offered the exact same chance over here - you may each have your own subboard under a main crafting community board -

we are really enjoying our new board and you might notice have started a lot of new threads which we did not feel we had the freedom to do here b/c we did not want to clog up what we considered to be your board - we were trying to be considerate as the new kids on the block - we didn't want to step on any toes - but now see that it didn't matter how hard we tried to stay out of your way - you still were annoyed by us -actually confirming the decision to make us our own board

our move was 100% about Baloo wanting to be our MOD - she is part of our family - so it wasn't a slam against you all - MeanLaureen is trying to help you all make your board what you want it to be - instead of being irritated that the gardenig info will be moved over here = why not embrace them - I believe in the more the merrier philosophy -

ML and Kayla will pour there heart and soul into this place - if you know anything about WPASADI - you know that they don't do anything half-way - give them a chance - embrace the change - you might just like it!!!!

Now let's forget all that drama and enjoy our new home!!!

Hooray for Queen Kate and your diplomatic respone to the naysayers! :cheer2:

I'm just so happy to belong to this great group of people! I talk about you all the time to my family, and they think I'm speaking about people who live in my hometown, and in a way, I guess, you do! You have given me so much more support than so - called friends that live on my own street. You have inspired me, taught me things, let me lurk when I want, and welcomed me back when I had something to say. I'm just so grateful that I went to the Trip Planning Boards one day last summer and saw this thread. I was simply hoping to find some ideas for shirts for a family trip to Disneyland and along the way, I found a family. My husband, too, is grateful to you for your support during a very hard time for me, post-surgery. I HONESTLY don't know what I would do if I couldn't come here and listen to you banter, see your designs, and learn a little more about each of you.

Wow! That turned quite sappy, and I didn't mean it to. Anyway, back to business. Kate, I'm happy with any signature you design for us. However, I have no idea how to get it to show up for me. Can you walk me through it?

One last thing: did the tag fairy hit our board lately? I don't remember seeing Paul's tag about hunka hunka before this morning. If it's new, CONGRATULATIONS! If it's old, sorry I didn't notice before now.

Ok, back to the boards to catch up and revel in our new home!

Wow, cool new tags!!

I want to be tagged sometime, but I don't think I'm clever enough to say something witty to get the TF's attention. ;)

It's going to take me forever and a day to catch up on all these threads.....but never fear, I will read them all! :teeth:

Quite a few of DDAers got tagged last night.

How are you feeling?

Physically I'm feeling wonderful. I weighed myself today and I'm 20 pounds down! I'm officially 1/5 of the way to my target weight! I haven't been this low in about 3 years. So that's terribly exciting!

Emotionally, it's a real roller coaster. More than I expected. I can cry at literally nothing. DH laughs and says I was that way before the surgery, only now it's magnified. Luckily, he just passes the tissue and pats my back. I don't know what I'd do if he told me to snap out of it. I'd probably bite his nose off.

So, all in all, things are good and I don't regret my decision. Perhaps by the time we have a DDA meet that I can attend, I'll be back down to my pre-wedding weight. Wow! I haven't even dared think about that weight for so long, I don't know what I'll do with myself if I ever actually reach that goal!

I have heard/read that people that have that surgery actually go to counseling because it is a major, life-altering event after everything is said and done. It's like you become a new person, and some have difficulty with that. I'm glad that you are happy with the decision that you made for YOU and I hope your recovery (physically and mentally) goes smoothly.

Hey thanks guys for pointing out that I got tagged. I hadn't posted today so I didn't even notice. Thank you tag fairy, I'm not invisible!!

I have a delicate issue that I'm trying to deal with. I'm not sure why I'm having issues with this as nothing has really changed, only my perception. I had my teacher conferences for my older 2 sons yesterday. My 8 year old was first. It started out like all my other conferences as he has had this teacher for the last 2 years. She then starts to tell me that he has solved some difficult math problems in his advanced math group. I was proud of him but didn't think too much of it as he loves math and is always figuring something out. Then she went on to say that he has an extraordinary vocabulary and is always blowing her away. Ok I was getting even more proud, but that embarassing, I don't know how to act feeling was setting in. She then gets up and calls the guidance counseler to have her join us. This was very odd. She is also the coordinator for his advanced math group so I assumed it was to talk about that. Well, apparently, they now consider him gifted and used terms like brilliant to describe him. They actually spent more time talking about there concerns of how my 10 year old was adjusting to his little brother. He is solving 6th grade math puzzles in 2nd grade. To be honest we hadn't noticed what was going on. He never brags or rubs it in to our older son or his classmates. He is very social and he is a very good athelete. The guidance counselor said that he is very advanced accross the board. He has much better hand eye coordination than most boys his age (she was amazed at how he could jump rope with the girls as that is apparently something difficult for 2nd grade boys). I had to laugh as I knew that he was jump roping, but he is doing it cause he likes girls. :rotfl: . The teachers want us to make sure that the older son gets involved in something that he can excel at. The problem is that they do everything together and there is no competition between them. How do I tell one that they can't try something because the other needs and activity of his own. They wouldn't understand as we have always encouraged all of our boys to try everything and have never told one that they couldn't try. My older son is not atheletic and doesn't care about sports. He does well at school and his teachers said that he is doing his 4th grade work at the appropriate grade level. I'm proud of him as he really doesn't like school. Older son has joined band this year and really enjoys it. I told the teachers that maybe middle son wouldn't like band and we would have separate activities there. They informed me that he they wouldn't be surprised if he could already read music. I know that this is getting long and I'm not bragging or complaining here. If these were your children and they are as close as two boys could be, would you leave things alone and just see what happens or would you start to encourage individual interests at the risk of not allowing one to try something new. I am inclined to forget about what I was told yesterday and go on with life as it has always been. We've always known that He was athletic as he could do head stands at 2 and he was doing 100 piece puzzles by 4. To make things more challenging he would do them cardboard side up. This doesn't bother older brother so why should it bother me. I hope this makes sense as I feel like I am rambling. What would you do?

Deb

PS. We haven't mentioned any of this to either of the boys as I don't think they need to know.

Love Ya, Mean It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My3princes..................Your middle and oldest son sound just like my two boys. 8yr old in 2nd grade and 11yr old in 6th grade. My 8yr old excels in everything over my 11yr old. My 11yr old doesn't seem to have a problem with it or even notices. He did notice that my 8yr old was better at football than he was but just said it was easier for my 8yr old since he is playing 6/7 year olds and he was playing 11/12 year olds. We always show equal attention to both of them. My 6th grader struggled thru K-5th and finished with B's....sometimes during the year they would drop to C's but he would bring them up. My 2nd grader is in focus....the gifted class.....and is making all A's. They are like oil and water being complete opposites but always get along and play well together. I am glad that God game me two complete different boys so I can love me both equally in their own unique and different ways.

Hope that helps......there are other "Proud Mom's" just like you out there.

As a teacher, I can understand where your son's teacher is coming from. But, as a parent, it sounds like you have a good handle on things. I would leave things as they are but keep it tucked in the back of your mind. If you see things starting to happen, you may then be able to make some changes.

Deb - I wouldn't worry about it - if you make a division between them - I think it will cause hurt and there does not appear to be any - if your oldest ever expresses concern then deal with - I would probably be inclined to tell him that his younger brother is just keeping up with him and that he has taught him so much

to make an issue of something that isn't - is just ridiculous!!

Deb-

I am going through this exact (almost) same thing with my 2 girls....we have found that they could care less if one can do something better than the other they just love doing it together...only competition we have is when it is time to practice piano....hard to practice piano when they can't share it!!

Be thankful that they are this way now as more than likely it will stick around when they become teenagers(oldest DD is 13 other 9). They even help bolster each other up where they are lagging better than mom & dad can!!

As a teacher, I can understand where your son's teacher is coming from. But, as a parent, it sounds like you have a good handle on things. I would leave things as they are but keep it tucked in the back of your mind. If you see things starting to happen, you may then be able to make some changes.

This is exactly what I was going to say (except the part about being a teacher).

If they post negative things over here - instead of responding let's just report their posts - you can do this by clicking on the triangle with the ! in it - on the bottom left of their post

Dang this thread moves fast.

Excuse me while I take us back on topic for a minute. I'd like to talk t-shirts. Here's what I'd like (Kate...can you work your magic?)...

Mickey and Pooh with their arms around each other. And then I was thinking we'd have their names above them, and then my name and my husbands underneath and then January 2006.

What do you think? Possible?

:wave2: Hi everyone!

You all have been very busy while we were away!! A whole board!!!! And the 10,000th post!!!!!

Our trip was wonderful. Kyle had a blast and loved meeting all of the characters. The T shirts were a big hit!! We got the most comments on the "My Daddy gave up World Series Tickets so I could meet Mickey" shirt (he wore that one and DH wore his Sox Jersey the day after the Sox won it all).
Also got several comments on Kate's "You guys are wearing me out shirt" with the sleeping Baby Mickey.

Midnite's "Our first family trip to WDW" shirt we all wore on the same day with our names on the back also got a lot of attention.

And, I dare say we were the stars of the castle in our Princess Mommy, King Daddy (Yup- I got him to wear it!!!!!) and Prince Kyle shirts.

Thanks again to all the DDA's who designed the shirts. We are planning a December trip next year so I will be looking for some good Christmas designs!! Also, I asked Santa to bring me Photo Impact so I can finally contribute to the madness (I have so many ideas in my head, But I am so limited using word!)

Here are just a couple of the 250 pictures we took down there!

The party was so much fun this year but we missed alot (it poured & they cancelled the 1st parade so the 2nd was packed, ds fell asleep) so we really wanted to do it again! This will require taking my (then) 5th grader out for 4 days from school which makes me nervous. :guilty: I took her out in Oct for 3 days & just got her report today..all A's, so I feel better.

Just ran home to wrap the b'day presents. All 3 have double ear infections and sinus infections. Davis' is so bad we have an emergency appt with the ENT tomorrow at 2:20pm. He may have to have surgery to close the gaping hole in his ear drum next week before he's allowed to fly. They all have tubes, but the infection was so bad it completely ruptured the ear drum (very large hole).

So, giving them all Advil for pain (they don't have fevers amazingly) and will go to the party and eat some cake and pizza.

Would appreciate any PD you have.

I'm sending oodles of :grouphug: and tons of :wizard: to all 3 of your kids. It is no fun having an ear infection, I can't imagine what a sinus infection on top of it is doing to them. Thank heaven for antibiotics. Let us know about the surgery. We can all put him in our prayers for you. However, on the bright side, it happened in time to get it taken care of before your trip. I flew with DD when she was 4. I didn't know she had an ear infection, as she has a very high pain tolerance level. Needless to say, when we landed it was VERY evident that there was a problem. Ear drum blew out, and a very yucky flight!

Seriously, I hope they get much better.

This kinda of happend to me with my two boys in elementary school. Although I must say mine were not as smart as yours seems to be. They are 17 months apart and at that time did everything together. We did not make a big deal of this and just let them alone as it did not seem to bother either one of them. Now they have differnt interest and go their own ways for the most part (they are now 15 and 17). They are still close for brothers and rarely ever fight. The "smart" one does not excel as much in high school as he does not turn in work and things that cause his grade to not be as good as it should be. His teachers ask me why and I think it is because he does not want to appear so smart because it is not the "cool" thing to be. Anyway I would leave it be and see what happens. If you start noticing a problem then intervene. Sometimes I think these counselors are too "smart" for their own good.

By the way you should be very PROUD of both boys for being such nice kids and also for the younger one being soooo smart. Congrats.

I'll take a stab and say Denise. All that diet coke.

Speaking of, I was thinking earlier after I saw all the new tags, that the TF must have gotten all hyped up on Diet Coke last night and went on a tagging rampage.

Okay recent big shirt number makers (Kate, Cinderumbrella, and anyone else)....How long did it take you to do all of your shirts (and how many did you make)? I REALLY want to make shirts for us, but just haven't had time to do more than collect designs. Now we are 13 days from our trip with this weekend dedicated to Christmas shopping and I am still tempted to undertake the feat. How many shirts could I reasonably do in a weekend while still not ignoring DD? (Though I am considering asking Daddy to take her to do something one day since we'll be gone for so long without him.)

What do you think? Can I do it? There are 3 of us for 4 days and 2 of us for the remaining 7 days.

The hardest part for me is deciding on the shirt color. If you can pick out your designs and know what shirt you are going to put it on, you are 3/4s of the way there. The ironing part really isn't difficult. Now I have only used the light paper so far, but you only iron for 3 minutes. Once you get into a rhythm it shouldn't take you long.

I organized what I wanted one night and printed them - you could do this once DD goes to bed tonight or tomorrow -

then I ironed away one night for about 3 hours and had made about 50 - it really doesn't take long - it is just a matter of setting your mind to it!

We had made some for our 99 and 01 trips all we did was print off images from magic artist onto iron on paper from Epson and put them on teh shirts with the date etc we used them as our autograph books for the adults and kids it was great. We had all kinds of people asking where we bought them.

Go to the front page of the t-shirt board and put your cursor on the envelope beside the thread name. Did that make sense? I'm not sure exactly how to word it.
