Our brick -- you mean our waterfront Florida property that we purchased for $100??? If you were to follow the path past the monorail and take the path nearly to the end, you would find our brick. It commemorates our wedding nearly 9 years ago and says Paul and Marti December 27, 1996. The adjoining brick is for our inlaws 35th wedding anniversary - so we actually have two pieces of waterfront Florida property!!!

Marti......we have a picture tile at Epcot. When we went 2001?? we had their pictures taken together and put on the granite walls. I thought it would be really cool to go when they have families of their own and can show them their picture when they were little.

The original swirl design is not mine, but I don't remember who emailed it to me. Please take credit! I doctored the design for DD to wear on a purple shirt to the AK.

We also purchased The Leave A Legacy Tiles, one with a picture of Matthew so that he could share with his family and hopefully all of the great memories that the three of us have shared there and the many more to come. And the tile right next to Matthew's has our names engraved. I know some people do not like the way the granite wedges look, but I just think that it is such a cool idea.

I'm recovering from donating blood tonight. Like always my fingertip has turned black and blue from the needlestick. My arm is in pain because they didn't listen to me and they took the blood out of my left arm instead of my right arm. So now it is in pain and brusied as well.

Do you have any tips Denise? I have already iced it since I have been home.

No ibuprofen (increases bleeding). Take Tylenol, elevate it, ice it. If it isn't better in a day, call your doctor. Watch out for red streaks, hot red areas, and a fever. Don't want the vein to get infected. Also, watch out for swollen sqishy areas. Feel better! A glass of wine or beer wouldn't hurt either...;)

Bengalbelle-I hope you feel better as well.

I was trying to do my good deed for the day. I have donated blood many times before. As long as the take it out of a certain vein I am fine, every time they don't I am in pain for a while or they try to stick me twice before finally deciding to listen to me.

They just didn't want to listen to what I was telling them. I guess they figured I was young, dumb and clueless and they didn't want to take it out of a vein almost at the side of my arm and instead the chose one in the middle that is very deep. Funny thing is the lady in the prescreening room said I had great veins, yet when she was trying to find one later she couldn't find anything. So somebody else did it then. Yeah well hopefully next time I get somebody who will be nice and listen to me.

I feel fine now - it was just the experience. I'm always having blood drawn so I'm not squeamish at all, but I'm not exaggerating when I say I'm a bit traumatized. I have learned that from now on I'm sticking up for myself (no pun intended).

I always have trouble giving blood too! When I was pregnant with Julia I got gestational diabetes - you should have seen my arm after the test!! It was absurd -

while pg with Nick I had surgery for a kidney stone and I knew to tell them to use a butterfly needle - the first couple of times they wouldn't listen but I finally got forceful about it -

good thing I am not squeamish about it b/c one time a lab tech spent a least a minute moving the needle around trying to find a vein!!

ReAnSt

But I was the least of their worries because someone passed out right before I sat down in the chair to give and someone else passed out right before I was finished. So the other people became the priority. But their has to be a less painful and more accurate method out there. Perhaps not invented yet though.

Me too with the needle! I give blood and a needle is fine with me... BUT when having DD and getting ready for a C-section, one butcher was trying to get the needle in the spine and kept missing!!! Then after a bunch of trys, they got someone else and they did it 1st try! I cried from then till hours after delivery. One nurse finally saw I was having a bad reaction to the pain killer and changed it, I stopped crying! :confused3 Man that was crazy!!

Hi Ladies (and Gents such as Kevin) --

I have been swamped with work for about 6 weeks now, so it has been ages since I posted and admittedly I am super behind on reading all your posts to our beloved DDA thread.

I have several rolls of film to develop to show all the shirts DBF and I have been wearing lately. All the designers have been so kind indulging my design requests. When I post the photos, I'll thank you each in turn.

In the mean time, I need a favor from you -- I remember seeing an Unbirthday shirt with Alice in a previous post, but I can't for the life of me put my fingers on it again. I should have saved it when I saw it like I usually do, but I didn't for some unknown reason. I have the Mad Hatter Unbirthday design that LadyLuca did, which I'll probably put on the back of the shirt, but I'm also looking for the design with Alice for the front of the shirt since she is blonde and I am blonde. I want to wear it on DBF's birthday trip to WDW when he wears the Sorcerer Mickey design Kate made for him. If anyone remembers whose design the Alice Unbirthday is, please PM her/his name to me so I can track down the design. Or if it's yours, please PM it to me.

Also, wanted everyone's opinion ... I really like Kate's design about the princes (Handsome, Adventuresome, etc). I wanted to make it for DBF to wear this weekend on our quickie trip to WDW, but he thinks it sounds too braggy. So instead, I was thinking I could wear it and add "My boyfriend (or My True Love) is..." and then use the design as is. Is that hokey? Would anyone else wear a design like that? What would your "prince" think; would he be embarrassed by your "bragging"?

Thank you!!

Jennifer

Me too with the needle! I give blood and a needle is fine with me... BUT when having DD and getting ready for a C-section, one butcher was trying to get the needle in the spine and kept missing!!! Then after a bunch of trys, they got someone else and they did it 1st try! I cried from then till hours after delivery. One nurse finally saw I was having a bad reaction to the pain killer and changed it, I stopped crying! :confused3 Man that was crazy!!

While I was pregnant with my twins, my vertabrae kind of squished together, and when they tried to give me the spinal, the anesthesiologist couldn't find a space between them. He kept sticking me in the spine. It was so painful I thought I was going to die, and I think I would have been glad to at that point.

Later, after the whole thing was over, a student nurse sat me straight up in bed to recover. I kept getting woozy and dizzy and sweaty. DH knew something was wrong and went to get a nurse, and when she saw me sitting up, she got angry at the student nurse and put me back down flat on my back. She told me you should never sit straight up after a spinal because you can leak spinal fluid. Once I was flat I was fine. It was really weird. It didn't help that they put me to recover in an old, tiny room that was being used as a storage closet for the janitors. When I had my C-section, there were 13 other women giving birth at the same time, and there wasn't anywhere else to put me.

At least I got 2 healthy, beautiful, tiny daughters out of it so that makes it all worthwhile!

We leave Friday- but don't get there until Saturday. My oldest DD is a flight attendant for SWA- so we fly for free, but have to work our schedule around the least crowded flights. SO- we're flying to Phoenix on Friday morning- will spend the day there at my friends DD's place (she's also a flight attendatnt for SWA) and then we get up early Saturday morning and leave for WDW. We are scheduled to arrive in Orlando at 2:30.
I REALLY miss the days when we lived in MI and could leave early in the day and arrive early on the same day! You're LUCKY!!

I wish we would have gotten a discount. But I'm "too nice" to be too pushy about things like that. We used to joke around that having twins was like getting two kids for the price of..............two kids! Actually, it was more like the price of 3 or 4 since I was in the hospital for a couple of weeks beforehand, due to some complications.

I'll try to remember how lucky I am when I am getting up at 3:45 a.m. I plan to have the kids dress in their clean undies and t-shirts before bed. Then they just have to get up, throw on their short and crocs and off we go at about 4:45 a.m. Our flight is at 6:00, but the airport doesn't open until 5:00. If we get there at 5:15 a.m., we'll be fine. It should be an early night both Friday and Saturday!

Thanks, Denise. Ref. the hero shirt, I was just thinking of how to get a name in there somewhere, just to make it more fitting for CRT, since DD will be in her princess dress. I don't think I'm going to do the picture thing, because if I did it for him, then I would have to do it for her, and yadayadayada. And since I don't know how to do any of that myself it would just be too much. Maybe when Kate gets on she can do the name thing somehow.

Tink2020 - I don't remember the brand, but I know it is not Hanes or Fruit/Loom. It was from Walmart in the men's section. 100% cotton. It really has a nice, soft feel. They have them for kids too in the boys section. It is a tee, not a sweatshirt.

Marti - It actually went quite well. It only took about 10 minutes, and most of that was wandering around my house looking for the ruler. I never did find the thing so I just eyeballed it.

To all of those that have replied, I appreciate your compliments. I am pleased with it myselft. Now I need to do Dh's and kids. Maybe tomorrow before work.

I believe we will be going to MK on Saturday afternoon, but not staying all night! We will also be back at MK on Sunday a.m. for breakfast with Pooh Bear at CP. On Saturday I will be wearing my Evolution of Mickey Shirt, DS will be wearing his Crush Shirt, DD will be wearing her Walt Disney World (with the good guys on the front and Dark Side of WDW with bad guys on the back) shirt. No clue what the other 4 will be wearing since it is a travel day officially.

We are heading to WDW on Saturday (against all recommendations) to get haircuts, just meander, maybe see afternoon parade, etc. Not a big ride day, and I am not standing in any lines!

Sunday at MK we will be riding rides and following TGM's itinerary for a wonderful day with no lines! I love that guy! I haven't decided if we will be wearing tie-dyes or Ladylucca's 7 Dwarfs that day, but we will be 7 matching people, just look for us (1 grandma, 2 parents, 2 kids, 2 early 20's). DS(6) was going on today about going back to Florida - hopefully with 2 of us going on DH might reduce the 10-year timescale down a bit, the difficulty is DS(12) is in secondary school now, so it will be difficult taking him out at all.

Sorry to get back on thread :rolleyes1 but when decorating pillowcases did you find the transfers uncomfortable? I was looking at the T-shirts I did and thought they might be a bit shiny to lay on. I can decorate the edges I suppose, but I did want to do kev's monorail design nice and big in the middle. How do you lay yours out?

Since the magic number for posting is 75, I may try to get my ears tonight. We have Parent/Teacher Conferences at school tonight and tomorrow. Since I am a Title teacher, not too many people stop in to see me so I have some time to check the board.

How new is the black/color cartridge?? Maybe you need another one.

nope, cuz other black on the design is solid just fine. It's gotta be how I designed it???

A Title I teacher helps students with reading and math problems. Each school can determine who and how to serve them. We work with K-3 grade in our district.

I live about an hour south of Springfield. Maybe we could meet with DisneyEveryYear there and have a dda meeting!!!

Sounds good to me. Maybe we should get together after DisneyEveryYear returns so she can share her photos. :wizard:

Thank you, again.

For all those I sent paper too. I will send everyone PM's tonight with money due. I didn't want to hold up shipments waiting for payment. Some people may have not gotten instructions. I forgot to included them in one or two packages. If that was the case, let me know and I can email instructions.

I'm in Dallas and will be at WDW this weekend too!! Happy Birthday Mya!!

Did you get your rental car already? We just decided to go this week, and when we called Hertz, we learned they are 100% sold out of cars in any class for this weekend. Have you ever heard of such a thing? Luckily, National still had rental cars available.

I topped the 1,000 post maek today! (I spend WAAAAY to long on here for someone without a trip planned!).

How do you lay yours out?

http://www.wdwinfo.com/photopost/data/500/73452cropped-thumb.jpg (http://www.wdwinfo.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=4922)

I put the transfer on the front of the pillow and they flip them over when they sleep with them. Flip them back in the morning.

UM - you all know Martha Stewart Apprentice is on tonight!!! :rotfl:

I was wondering the other day how long I would have to go without posting before you all got worried about me!! :rotfl: Nice to see it is just a couple of hours - yea I need my ego stroked every once in a while!!! ;) .

This is so exciting - I will work on a new logo and have it up soon!!

I have a feeling we are all going to have a great time here!!!!

I am okay with new threads as long as we promise to chat here still - just as much - b/c I have no desire to keep making designs and have no friends to chat with!!!

Who got booted? I had an emergency call from a pg mom of triplets in pre-term labor (you know I teach the prenatal class for twins and triplets), so I missed the boardroom. PM me if you need to.

I have a shirt question (quick, don't faint). Why can't I iron them on my ironing board? I'm so confused. I have this giant heavy weight glass (or something that looks like glass) cutting board. It's huge. You're supposed to leave it on your counter all the time to place hot pots, etc on it so you don't scorch the counters (or table, Kate!). Can I press them on that?

I'm going to wash the boys shirts tomorrow. Got to get the color printer and will start shirts by this weekend. Woohoo!

Oh man, I am definitely going to have to get a cable modem. I got off work an hour ago but can't leave my office. It will take me forever to keep up with all of this, plus the poop thread, on dial-up.

the pad in your ironing board will absorb teh heat instead of the transfer - they don't stick as well

The glass might work - I would give it a try!!

I just want you all to know that I am not trying to be difficult in the finished shirt design thread and the request thread - but I get SO many requests a day that I could not keep up with them even in a thread like that - so I put a link to my photobucket and asked people to continue pming me - I have to work through my pms and delete them as I go - and people email me through my photobucket account - I can't add a third location for requests - sorry - not trying to be difficult - I would just hate to miss a request!!

My directions said not to use glass. You need the heat to be evenly distributed and not too hot either. I would get a rag and test run one. Just make it a small one so you dont waste too much ink and paper.
