How do you get the design to print mirror image? Thanks for the help! All the designs are amazing. I'm going to be learning and hoping to post some designs soon.

Look in your printer set-up screen. There should be an option to select mirror image--at least that's what mine does.

Question
(all I ever have is questions!! :( )

anyway... has anyone printed the elaborate picture ones? I was showing dh the pictures, and my techy dh was saying that some of the beautiful castle, and "park" pictures wont come out on the transfer...

So, I'm brainstorming now, if its just a matter of "our" printer, can I take it to a Kinko's and get it to come out in all its colorful glory??

TIA

My picture of stitch loose in the park (see below) turned out a lot clearer than the most of my designs that had clip art in them due to resizing and such.

My transfer looked identical to the pic below. The font came out a lot clearer on the shirt though.

Question! How many shirts does one package of powdered RIT dye do?

I plan on doing two sets of shirts: We're going to do a lime green Pop Century shirt with the POP Mickey Mouse head logo (from Midnite) on the front with our names under it in Diner font...and J and N's mom's Twister POP Mat for the back! (Thanks for that, really!!)

The next set is using Midnite's Incredibles postings (awesome by the way, thank you!!!) and J and N's mom's lime green mickey heads. The lime green mickeys say my Screenname on them and above say "Relation of a" and below "Super DISer." Tie dye will be limited to four colors...any good ideas for color?

TIA!
Well, honestly, I'd avoid RIT altogether. It's not permanent so it fades badly and it's hard to get good saturated color in the first place.

You should use fiber reactive dyes, one of the most common ones being Procion dyes. You can find a kit at many craft stores that comes with 3 colors (that can be mixed) or you can buy them individually. I've seen the kit at Michael's and A.C.Moore, but only found the dyes individually at A.C.Moore. I order mine online from the Dharma Trading Company, who has an awesome set of instructions on their website, as well as the other supplies you'll need like urea and soda ash. I also usually get my blanks from them since they have such a wide variety of white cotton....

Someone did a design that said had tink 'leaning' on the wording and it said 'Mood subject to change without notice'. The design was purple background with blue and yellow lettering.

I saved it but mine is blurry. Now, I can't find the original.

Does anyone remember who designed it???

I'm not sure who orignially posted this design (sorry  ) but I loved it! I did a little tweaking on it so that it would fit our family though, hope that's ok. Here's the result.

I can't wait to put this on our shirts! :Pinkbounc However, I can not find in my printer options how to set up a mirror image. :confused3 Could I do this in Paint Shop Pro and save the image that way and then print it? Also, do regular printers work or will I need a photo printer to do this?

Thanks for to all of the wonderful people who make and share these designs with all of us!!

It looks better than the photo came out. It says "Mission Mickey". DS10 is thrilled with it! The design is from Midnite's site.

My apologies for not taking a better picture but it's past my bedtime and I need to tear myself away from this thread! I've checked it way too many times today. :wave2:

Good idea Kate. We are going to the world October 15-24. Our plans right now include the Happy to be in Disney/ Grumpy because I got the bill shirt; the Indiana Jones shirt; the Evolution of Mickey; and the Steamboat Mickey shirt (big surprise). We're still two months out, I think there will be more shirt ideas coming through, so this is subject to change.

Thanks all for your great ideas - keep 'em coming!

Reverse.
I'm not sure if you can do this on all pc's. :badpc:
Here's how I do it.
1 right click on your image.
2 click on edit.
3 click on flip/rotate (set on flip horizontal).
4 click on ok.
Good Luck

I've never even been to the Boardwalk before! I'm very excited about it! We stayed at the Grand Floridian (which was wonderful and completely spoiled us!) in July. So, the only way we could go back again this year was to go on a serious budget. Originally, we were going to stay at Shades of Green. But, then I discovered the secret of renting DVC points and found someone who had a reservation at the Boardwalk! So now we are staying there for just a few more dollars per night than it would have been at SOG!!! I can't wait!

I'm driving everyone crazy with all of my Disney talk! Luckily my DH is just as excited as I am. Although I will say that he has been a bit thrown off at the fact that I am making shirts for every day of our next trip! But, he has agreed to wear what ever I make for him!!

I still don't know what we are going to dress up as for MNSSHP! Suggestions??

Have a good night and I will catch up after work tomorrow!

Yes - take a white sheet - and go as a ghost - cut out the face and wear Mickey ears - then you are a mickey ghost - or you could poke the ears through the sheet so just the black ears are poking out

I know nothing about the wonderful stuff you guys can do. But I need to learn for our trip in Dec. I do have a good photo printer luckily. I need to sit down and figure out the program that I have. Enough of that! My DS is turning 8 on our trip and if worse comes to worse I can buy a shirt from Dazzle of Malificent as a dragon with his name on it that he loves. BUT- My DD needs something special too. I was thinking about a cross of Alice in Wonderland and Princesses. With the saying " Unbirthday Princess Alicia" any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks! I've searched for hours (unsucessfully) trying to find the designer of this shirt. I was hoping to have it personalized with my dd's name instead of the "celebrating Sept. 15-21,2005. I made an oval - used the ocean fill - added ripple effect and did a 3D rotate

This is what I read, "I made an oval - blah, blah, blah, blah...." :rotfl:
I'm sure Kevin understood that stuff...hard to believe I used to be a yearbook advisor! When I had Alyssa, I lost ONE MILLION brain cells, especially those that ever understood technical stuff.

At this point, I'm sure Kevin's going to call me and say, "Stop posting on MY thread!" :teeth:

Anyway, we'll be at Pop Century from September 30 to October 9th.

You guys are absolutely amazing..you should open a store or website. The designs are incredible. It's going to be fun to see how many Diser's have these designs on the first week of October.

J&N's mom - Do you do all of your work in Photo Impact? Is that how you made the starburst behind tink? :confused3

Mom of 2 - Same question. you did the ones with the frames around Minnie, Mickey & others, as well as a starburst behind them? Where did you get the starburst & frames? :confused3

I am trying to do my own, and not ask others to do them for me, but need some "technical assistance" :badpc: :badpc: :badpc:

You see it's my computer who is "challenged" not me. :rotfl2:

Ugh! I just spent 2 hours probably reading through these threads and another hour going to all the links that show you how to tie/dye the Mickey shirst...and after spending 5 hours actually doing them...they stink! :confused3 I used spray bottles and guess I didn't spray enough..but I went through 3 bottles for five shirst...maybe you should just pour the dye on them...it might work better...or better yet, I'm just not a tie/dyer...they still can be salvaged though, I'me going to a craft store and buying craft ink and then stamping our design on there! :)

So next month I'll post pictures of us wearing the worst tie/dye shirts ever made! :) It really looks like I had a painting accident...my hat is off to all you great crafty folk out there who make magic with shirts! I better stick to my pound cakes! :)

Thanks for the great ideas though!

One of the listings on it will say: ADDRESS...URL

Copy that ...the one for your Bears photo is http://smakl1.tripod.com/disney/thumbnails/600x450/bears1.jpg

Now come back to the post reply box here at the DIS.

Up there at the top where the B I U are located to the right of them are pictures. The FIRST one is like an envelope.

Click on it...it says Insert Image

It seems like I saw Gildan T-shirts on clearance at BJ's, I think that they only had mens though. They had 3 packs of colored boys T's too. I did a tank with built in bra for myself (walmart) and it came out as good as regular t's. I did shrink the design down a lot to make it work. I have now finished all 3 sets of shirts and am waiting for my family (models) to all be free at the same time to take some pictures. Oh yeah, the tye dye towel came out great too.

Deb

I went to BJ's Friday and bought 2 Gildan men's T's (White & Black). They were not on clearance-I think $6.50. I also bought a 3 pack of boy's Docker rigger T's (1 white w/navy trim, 1 orange w/?trim, 1 red w/navy trim) on clearance for $7.

I will post photos of T's when they are complete.

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a266/slewolverine/castle2005.jpg

I want to make the sky lighter, without effecting the color of the castle. But I can't seem to do that. Can anyone help?

2nd question is, when I made shirts in 2003, the transfers didn't last the day. Our trasfers started shredding from the moment we started wearing them. Is this just how it is, or did I just use bad transfers?
Thanks for your help! :sunny:

I can't help with your second question, sorry. I used this castle illustration for my daughter's birthday shirt (I think it's on page ONE of this thread!) and was happy to discover that the sky printed out much lighter than it looks on screen. It looked like daytime with fireworks, which didn't bother me at all because daytime fireworks are part of Cinderellabration! I was still very happy with the color of the castle. Of course, YMMV.

If you don't like how the sky color prints on your printer, then you'll need to select the non-castle parts of the image and then lighten them. The selecting process will take more time/effort than the actual lightening. In Photoshop, I'd use the magic lasso tool or maybe even the magic wand. You might find it easier to select the castle and then select Inverse to get everything but the castle. I don't know how to do it in the other software applications, though...

You guys are always a step ahead. I was just signing on to post this. They also have for $5.00 tie-dyed womens v-necks. The type that is more form fitting. In pink, blue or almost lime green. I thought they would be nice to put a pocket design on the front with a full picure on the back.

They also have in the mens section nice weight solid color T-shirts for $5.00

My Aunts birthday is in October so I could always make a cake for her and put the Harley Minnie on top as a surprise.

I don't know if you are asking me, but I'll tell you that I used Avery (from Walmart) or light colored fabrics. The paper was white but I used someone's tip (can't remember whose, sorry) to cut close to the design with an exacto knife, which worked really well for me. If you are using dark fabric, get the paper specifically for that. It will say on the packaging whether it is for light or dark fabrics.

Tell me how to use the glitter, please. Do you spray it on after the transfer is ironed? Or do you need to put it on before the transfer?

As soon as your done transfering your picture and you take off the backing; that's when you should spray the glitter. It's better then cause the picture is still hot from the iron and the picture needs to cool and set. So by spraying the glitter right away when the picture is hot it will set right in and when you go to wash the shirt most of the glitter should stay on the shirt and not get washed away.

Also Speaking of T-shirts. :listen: Wal-mart has "Just My Size" T-shirts on sale for $6.00 and the colors are bright. :cool1: They are 100% cotton...I am washing them now to see if they are going to shrink!! :scared:  Will let everyone know soon. :chat:

Sorry if this has already been asked and answered. What is the best type of transfer paper to use on a light colored or white t-shirt? I made shirts in 2003 and the transfers started peeling and/shredding when we wore them. I want to make sure the transfer paper is good this time. Also, any tips on a better application would be appreciated. Thanks!

Here is a question for all you wonderful designers! I bought tshirts today at Kmart for dh and myself. I still couldn't find any tshirts for my 3 yo dd. (I have been everywhere!) She is very small for her age and that is part of the problem. I did find some toddler boys tshirts that fit, but only in white. I bought some fabric dye that matches the colors of the other shirts I bought. If I dye the shirts will the transfer still take? I guess I have nothing to lose trying it, but thought I would ask first. Thanks! Can't wait to actually make these beautiful shirts you have all designed! Now, if I could just figure out which ones! LOL :rolleyes1 :confused3

Tell me how to use the glitter, please. Do you spray it on after the transfer is ironed? Or do you need to put it on before the transfer?

I know others have posted about the spray on glitter - - in the old days... I would buy the bottle of glitter tshirt paint... then squirt it on a paper plate, and take a paint brush, and brush the glitter where I wanted... it used to last thru washings and everything...

I used to make shirts, take and cut out of fabric shapes, lets say shamrocks for St Patty's Day, then I would take that shirt glitter (from Michael's Hoppy Lobby etc) and glitter it down like a glue... then sprinkle glitter like above in different 'arcs'...

maybe this can help here?

Ok - OK - Mr. "why are you addicted to that thread" wants to know.... is it possible, maybe remotely possible, to get this same exact shirt with the Patriots? He's been a Pats fan for 20 years, long before their winning streak. Thanks if you can.

You bet! ;) But only if Mr. "why are you addicted to that thread" doesn't say another word about our addiction. :rotfl2:

Mr. "I don't understand your addiction" is finally starting to understand. We were at WalMart today, and who do you think was the first person over by the Hanes t-shirts, picking up a few extras, "just in case...."

In case of what? In case of addiction??

I love this one! (Of course, I love them all! :rotfl2: )

I was wondering if there was anyway you could give me the plane image on the destination Disney shirt. The one with the map. I wanted to try to make a variation of it because we are flying from NC to WDW. I haven't been able to find a plane that looks decent and I really like the one you did. Do you mind if I use it?
TIA!

I couldn't find lime green for my boys so we bought white and did a lime green tye dye on them then added a transfer and it looks awesome. I am waiting for the DIS photo gallery to come back up so I can post. Have fun.

Can you work something out for this?
Hiked 1/2 hour to the train.
Maybe Mickey & Minnie with suitcases walking.
1 hour train ride.
Maybe Mickey & Minnie in a train.
6 1/2 hours on a plane.
Maybe Mickey & minnie in a plane.
For what?
The World.
Maybe a castle. Please! :love2:

Can you say addicted? I just opened a photobucket account so I could post photos of my completed shirts. I couldn't wait for the dis picture site to come back online. So here goes. This is our tye dye shirt. Originally I planned to do a transfer on each, but it was way to busy so I opted to just write Brooks Family above the center Mickey head and each of our names in the Mickey head. Each shirt has several mickeys on them.

The last 2 have the transfer that okwoodsmith did for us October disers way back on page 2 or 3. These came out awesome. Since I couldn't find lime green shirts for the boys I let each of them do a lime green on white tye dye, then did the transfer. I like these better than the completely lime green, but they all look nice together.

So I went & listened to my Vince Carbone DVD talk about Extinction. Decided it was late & I needed to go to bed. However, I thought I would check in once more before heading for the bedroom. :cool1:
So I am admiring all the new posts, turning green with envy looking at all the great designs and the beautiful children. I mean Shelby is just as cute as a button. & the 3 princes are just so georgous. I am thinking great shirts, cute kids and lots of new ideas to think about instead of sleeping.
& then what is that? :earseek: :earseek: Is it a shirt I just asked for a few minutes ago. I don't have to make it, someone made if for me and saved me about 10 hours of work. :worship: :worship:
Life just doesn't get any better than this. :cool1:
Thanks Mom of 2, I appreciate it. Now I am getting all teary eyed. What a great bunch of people hang out at the Dis.
Thanks so much, Penny
