This is totally off topic, but you have all shared your personal trials of late so here are mine. I have an old dog, he is nearly 14 with severe arthritis in his rear legs. We put him on meds in June and it apparently helps with the pain, but now he is "poop" incontinent several times a week. We have dealt with this for several months as we love him dearly and just aren't ready to put him down yet. Yesterday I noticed him scratching at his ear. Both his ears are full of the nasty brown/bloody crud that comes with an ear infection. Told DH last night that I was going to need to get him to the vet before our trip. Today my 12 yr old cat is found peeing where he shouldn't be and it is blood tinged. :guilty: I make an appointment to get them both seen today. While waiting for todays appoint I discover that during the night the cat "marked" in every room of the house!! The vet checked out the dog (he was just there a couple of months ago) and he now has testicular cancer and he thinks he is getting senile which is why he doesn't always make it outside. He said the cancer won't cause him pain and not to try to treat that due to his age. He is putting him on a med for his senility and still treating the arthritis and drops for his ears. The cat (who has had urinary issues before) is not blocked and the vet feels that he is feeling stressed which can cause the urinary inflammation and blood in the urine. We are treating him with antibotics for 10 days (We'll be in Disney before his meds are done). The Vet asked if there was stress in our house, Let's see, 3 kids heading in different directions, an old dog that doesn't walk well often pooping in the house, packing for our vacation, no stress here. He thinks that the cat saw me packing and is acting out :earseek:. Can you believe it, my cat doesn't want me to go on vacation. My family will be pet sitting so I'm sure that they can handle it. We don't need to decide what to do with the old dog now so I guess the problem is adverted for now. I'm crating the cat in a large dog crate until the meds kick in so I won't have to clean up after him.

Ok that is the end of my ranting. I promise no more "poop talk" from me. We all have issues and I'm thankful that mine are minor compared to others. Vacation in 9 days and we deserve it.

One of Midnight's designs would be great if the Incredible family and the "Having an Incredible time"were removed. I have tried on my Mac, but really don't know what I am doing :confused3

Sounds almost like what happened to me last summer. I have a service dog that is my baby and goes everywhere with me. My cousin and I went on vacation last summer for a week and my parents babysat for me. Well my dog ate 3/4 of a ruffle off a throw pillow I had. We ended up spending 5 1/2 hours at a vet hospital to find out that she needed surgery to the tune of $2500. we asked if we could watch her and see if maybe she would throw it up or make it to monday to go to regular vet(maybe cheaper too). they said yes and to find pediasure(sp) to give to her. monday she went to the vet and she still had the blockage. vet then wanted us to take her to thehospital for them to watch her. we said we will watch her and if anything goes wrong we will takeher to the hospital. about 10:30 monday night she threw up all the ruffle. I joke saying she heard my mom say surgery. luckily she is fine and back to her old self. I am just worried about her doing it again when I leave her with my parenst when i go to Disney for a week in 2007.

Thanks so much for the compliments. I actually "recontructed" the MNSSHP shirt. It was an XL orange t shirt. I cut off the sleeves and neck. Then added the black halloween spiderweb fabric. Then I just cut the sides off to fit closer and poked holes in it and laced it up with black ribbon. It was super simple. I just used the orange pieces I cut off for the pattern for the black pieces.

Very creative. It looks spectacular! I hate how most t-shirts fit as they are too "boxy". Take pictures for us to see!

Deb,

I swear that when my husband and I went to Ireland in 1998, the four cats knew and decided to let us know that they were not happy. They do hold a grudge.

my3princes - So sorry to hear about your pets! I hope they both feel better. Duncan isn't old, but he has anxiety and a bladder disorder and when he sees me packing, he gets all worked up and it isn't pretty. He sends doggie kisses to your kitty and dog.

Do you need for DD or one of your sons. Because it says for DD, but it also says She is his favorite, and he is so excited. I know having 3 kids must be very confusing :rotfl2: at times but that information would be helpful so we are not confused :confused3 and can give you some ideas :teacher: .

Also just a word of warning, when I searched for Pocahontas pictures at one time I found some very inappropriate pictures, things I am sure would would be very shocking :earseek: to any of your kids and even some of the people on this board. So please be careful if they are helping you in the search for pictures.

She got good circles around the Mickey head and no "U". Now your DD has a project for all weekend!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: . Actually, I did band it for her. Just had to turn off my accountant brain and try to tap into whatever small part of my brain retains creativity to figure out the concentric circles. At least I got rid of that stinking U shape.

I meant to respond to this the first time I read it, sorry :rolleyes1

I have made many canvas tote bags with iron on transfers before (some of them are 14 years old now) and never washed them before doing the transfers. I think you ought to be fine.

Another way to filter out some of those inapropriate images... If you are doing a Google image search, there is a small blue link to the right for "preferences". One of the preferences you can set is called Safe Search and you can tell it what level you are comfortable with. As a boring, conservative midwesterner, I was pretty shocked at some of the images I was running into (even Cinderella - yuck!!!!) but since I changed this setting I'm not getting surprised anymore :)

I ironed on canvas bag with no washing. I used Avery dark paper. No problems.

Thanks to those who replied about sending a PM for designs - but I wasn't trying to request a custom design, I kind of wanted to create them myself (borrowing heavily from all the great ideas everyone has been working on here!).

I just had those questions about using the canvas bag, and was asking if anyone had any good Disney Mom+Child clipart. The bag is cotton, but feels stiff, and says no pre-washing needed and hand-wash only.

I just found the updated clipart link Baloo posted. Not sure why I didn't find that site when I was looking before - maybe it was down or too busy and I just never checked back. I found a few more clipart images there that I can use.

Thanks. They're taking year round lessons. Curious George is in the picture because he got sent home from school with Davis. He has to go everywhere we go for the next 5 days, and we take pictures. George is 'curious' about the kids' home life. Then you write a journal and send the pictures back. All the kids do it, so you get to know the children in the class. It's been fun! So far George has gone to choir, Church dinner, swim lessons, and Brantley-Kate's ballet class. He's a busy monkey!!!

Kate - Have a great trip. I will look for your family in your shirts. Maybe I will get a sneak peek at the new ones. We will have lots of your princess shirts on. Thanks again for all your designs. My girls are excited.

I will not have a computer to read anything. I will be in withdrawals & depressed when we have to come home. I will figure out how to post pictures then.

:cheer2: :cool1:  Leaving at 6:00 am Saturday!!!! :bounce:

Kate - See you soon! Have a great time.

Triplefigs - my DS is going to be bringing home Curious Stanley for the weekend in a few weeks. We have to do the same thing. Take him with us and then write a journal of his adventures. It should be fun. But I think I will be the one doing all the journaling, as DS is only 5.

Me too! I'll make him sign his name, though. It's been a blast. The kids are all into it. And just think, I get to do this THREE times! :rotfl:

Yes, I do. And since they are in 3 different classes I get Spot the Dog for DD and an elephant for DS? This weekend will be hard to beat as my parents are coming in town for the holiday, and we're going to a Pumpkin Patch/hayride. I guess if I get one when we go to WDW, now that would be fun! Then I'd have to make a tiny DDA shirt for the stuffed animal... more shirts!

She's STILL making those shirts!?!?!?!? She's quite a woman that's for sure. I can see her now..... the ironing board all set up, WDW vacation dvd's playing extra loud on surround sound and Kate, in her Mrs. Potts costume, ironing ALL THOSE T-SHIRTS! Ah Kate- if I lived by you, I'd be there right beside ya ironing for you! AND I'd wear the beast costume! ;) You've done so much for all of us. You're a sweetheart of a girl!!! :)

My3Princes - I hope your animals start to feel better and that you can have a relaxing holiday.

KATE - Have a wonderful trip. I guess you will have an excuse to put the kids on all of the water rides, just so you can change their shirts in the middle of the afternoon, or at least your kids will have a clean shirt for dinner each night without worrying about laundry. Hopefully your vacation will be relaxing after all you have been doing for us. P.S. Did you get your eye infection all cleared up?

Triplefigs - We have friends with triplets who always made sure that the girls were in different classes. Now that they are in middle school, the girls have every class together. Mom thought it would be tough, but now she only has to help with one spelling list each week, all tests are on the same day, all the girls are doing same units in each class and all projects are the same and due at once. She loves it!  She wishes she would have thought of this before. Makes her life a whole lot easier!

Thank you all for your support. I'm sure that everything will work out as it should in the end. I have a pretty laid back personality, so I do what I need to do to get by then let the chips fall where they may. I have learned that I am only one person and can't control everything that happens in our lives. We are looking very forward to our trip. The cat is really mad at me right now as he is crated in an extra large dog crate until his meds kick in. I cannot chase him around cleaning up after him.

Kate - have a great trip. I hope you got a little sleep as your kids will wear you out at the World (I know mine do). Can't wait for your trip report (or is it shirt report? :rotfl: )

for the advice about the canvas bag. I'll try the transfers without washing the bag. It mentioned lots of artsy uses for the bag on the package, but the texture of it seems more suited for painting.

Any other good Disney Mom+Child clipart ideas besides Dumbo, Bambi, and Roo with their Moms?

Well, just got a new job, which in general is a great thing, but I just found out I have to fly out of state for 14 of the next 17 days before our trip. I may just go off the deep end trying to get these shirts done and getting everything done in time. I also spent all of today making our costumes for MNSSHP. Anyone else feel overwhelmed?
Tara
ps. I may have to take up Diet Coke! :confused3

Tara,
Sorry to hear you're under so much stress. I hope nobody here takes this the wrong way but you can have a great trip without making any shirts. There is always next time! I really wanted to make my kids autograph books but I realized that would just put way too much pressure on me. I like taking my vacation just as my busiest time at work is winding down. But that means I'm under lots of stress leading up to vacation. Not knowing how I will get it all done. I still hope to make mousekeeping envelopes but if I don't get to that I will just take plain envelopes and let the kids put stickers on them in the plane.

Good luck with the new job and have a great trip!

Hello All! This is Kate's sister Nancy. I willkeep your lovely little secret! Nick is a Toy Story nut, he love Buzz and Woody.

She had to make all those extra t's because I just decided on Monday to drive down to Disney next weekend and she HAD to be sure my family all had t's!!! THe 10 might have been all for my family and we are only going for the weekend!!

She loves this board and I came to look at a design she made for my DD. I stumbled across your question.

I was at work today catching up on this thread at lunch time as always. A couple of other teachers came in to see what I was doing so I started showing them some great designs I'm using for our T's. Now, we have two more DDA in the making. The only problem was that since I have seen all the designs, I have to pick some out for them.

Ok well here is my first ever t-shirt. I realized after I printed it that I put the writing so close to the bottom that I couldn't have it all black, I had to leave some of the white border or it wouldn't look right. My DH says it looks better this way anyway(maybe he just didn't want me going to wal-mart for more white t shirts. It's for the Pirate Party on the Wonder. Each one has our names on it...Obviously this one is Sydney's.

ETA: OOH that's a bad, blurry picture. But it says Yo Ho, Yo Ho a pirate's life for.... at the bottom

You are all so sweet!
Nancy

Thanks for the tip, Nancy. I had guessed Buzz (Nick has a Buzz shirt on in one picture). Please have a fabulous time, and when she gets the basket will you let us know? Thanks!

Does anyone here have a craft room that they do their designs in? I need to design a craft room for my upstairs room and I'm not sure what to do with it. The room is 12x27 and half of it will also be used as an exercise room. Any hints?

Well, I would go with the obvious...Disney themed all the way. Maybe movie specific, character specific, or better yet... how about all the characters in work out gear (gets both sides of the room!!). Print up a nice 8x10 and put them in black frames and people will think you spent a fortune.

Just a thought.

Kate,
According to the gooble-de-gook I found on the USPS website, it doesn't look like you can mail a round postcard. Well, you can make one, you just can't mail it. Looks like you might need to use a square envelope for your design.

Here are the postcard regulations....
Postcard Standards:

Minimum Allowable Postcard Size: 3.5 x 5 Inches
If the width is less than 5 inches or the height is less than 3.5 inches the USPS will NOT mail your postcard.
Maximum Allowable Postcard Size: 4.25 x 6 Inches
If the width is greater than 6 inches or the height is greater than 4.25 inches, the postcard must be mailed as a letter, higher rate and all.

Great! I just printed my second batch at 6x4.5!!! (standard digital photo print size) they came out so well too... maybe I'll put them in an album and reprint them as 6x4s no point paying out for stamps if they won't post them! And it's cheaper to reprint than buy envelopes...

I'm sure I've bought postcards in walmart that were 7x5... :confused3

Thought you all might want to see it! It is a little worse for wear thanks to the mailing. But it is still a cool postcard. It is a little "glittery" in person too.

When she posted the Julia shirt with all the princess dresses, a few posts later Nick's was the Toy Story characters. His head was on Buzz and Woody.... not sure about favorites, but that's one I've seen! Hope that helps. Let me know if you want any help, money, etc.... what a thoughtful idea!

I was just in London visiting a supplier and they gave me a visitors tag to wear... and I thought to myself... hmm they could work for luggage tags, remove the clip and thread some cord through the hole instead, then slot the tag you made inside...

These are the same:

they sell them in staples in the uk in packs of 5 for £5 so they may sell them in the us staples too

Thanks for taking the time to do it for me. Actually I just wanted to take out the name of your family so that I could try to put on ours in Word. I like the design with the characters on it. Or maybe if you could just right on the names of my family members: Edgardo (DH), Monica (Me), Diego (DS9) and Rodrigo (DS5). We are leaving in 3 weeks and we'll be celebrating DS5 birthday. SO maybe his shirt could say something like "Celebrating my 5th birthday".
I'm new to this thread and loved it. I can't wait to make my shirts but I'm frustrated since I can't download Photoshop or Photoimpact because my computer can't handle these programs. I've read every page of this thread and have found some great designs but they all need to be customized in some way. :confused3

Here they take it case by case. We are debating having them together next year, but they love having their own teachers and friends. It would make my life much better, but we're leaving the decision until spring on what we will do next year. Tell your friend another triplet mom says hi!

I belong to a "twin mom" support group. In our neighborhood there are 8 sets of twins; 4 sets live on our street. We get together once or twice a month to support each other, and help with any problems that have come up. It has been invaluable to me. Anyway, having their kids in the same class has been the most recommended bit of advice I've come across. The mom's are a lot less overwhelmed that way. Course, every set of multiples is different. I know that if it were up to my Leslie, she wouldn't care, but Mary would absolutely die without Leslie with her all the time. She is very dependent on Leslie. I'm trying to break that dependency, but it's really hard.

I think I figured it out - if I remember correctly you have a rate for a postcard stamp? And anything bigger I think you just pay a bit extra and put a normal letter stamp on it... I think that's what we did with oversized postcards last time - ie no envelope required.

To be honest I always go with good intentions and end up buying the postcards and then writing them on the plane on the way home and posting them in the UK!! :rotfl2:

Although this time I could write them on the way there... :rotfl:

Hi, everyone!

Denise, karebear1, momof2OH, Steamboat Marti, Tammi67, lmartin2711, tink2020, bengalbelle, and disneyeveryyear (10 if we include Steamboat Marti’s DH Paul!).

Kate is OVERWHELMED! She just called me. THey got in late last night after a fabulous, magical day of which she will tell you about all their wonderful adventures! Julia had a magical moment with Belle again! Kate ran into a person who said "I know your shirt!" Kate said "I made them" THe family was thrilled! It was Daiseylove and she introduced her whole family to Kate and gushed Thank you's!

Then she arrived back inthe room to find a HUGE bag full of goodies!! She couldn't believe all that was in the bag! My Mom kept saying "surely you are at the bottom of that bag" as Kate kept pulling out more goodies!

You have all been upgraded to Princess and character status as Julia thinks it is from the Princesses and Minnie Mouse since she saw them yesterday!!

You really topped off a magical day! She will check in tonight, she hopes to find net access.

I don't know about the HP transfer paper.
I went with Avery transfer paper for dark fabric.
Loved how they came out.
Pretty easy to use.
I do know my HP 3/1 printer scanner copier.
Is the best color printer I have owner in 10 years.
I even print pictures on regular paper.
They look great.

Ok so I got back from Disney a few days ago and had a wonderful trip...but now I've been sick since the day we left :( Anyway, I did so many designs that I could only pick a few. We had problems with the iron on transfers so we brought the transfers to a custom tshirt shop and they pressed them for us and they turned out great...here are the ones we made:

I make most if not all my designs in microsoft word, when you go to print in the preferences there is an option for mirror image. I should work. I all ways test print in on a sheet of paper first to make sure everything is correct before I use the transfer paper. I hope this helps. :flower:

Click on file and then print. When the print box comes up, the should be a box next to the printer name that says "properties".

After you click on the properties box, click on the properties tab and there is a box you mark for mirror image. I have Word 2003, but I think they might be the same.

Good luck!

My DS 16 was looking over my shoulder at some of the desings. Well he informed me he can make these designs AND HE CAN. I am so excited. He just gave me a lesson on layers. I am using Jasc 7.5. I will post one whenever I can get him to finish it. Oh BTW he taught himself how to use this program and make these cool designs. I was so impressed. Now I can get him to personalize my shirts for me. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I met a Disboard celebrity!!! A DDA legend!!!

I have a Julia and Nicks Mom sighting!!

Walking down the empty path to the marina last night at Wilderness Lodge around 10:30pm, with my very tired family dragging behind me and my DD, we come across a woman wearing the very same shirt DH, DD and I wore the day before. I had to stop and say I recognized that shirt. As my family caught up for introductions I learned that this was in fact the great Kate who made us so many wonderful shirts. Julia and Nick were asleep in their stroller somewhere else. What a lucky coincidence.

Kate I was so tired but I hope that I did in fact thank you for everything. It was so great if just for a few minutes meeting you. I Hope the rest of your trip goes great!!!!!

For those of you who will ask the shirt Kate was wearing was the "Walt Disney World" spelled out with the different characters all over the letters. Did I explain that right? The day before my DD and I wore it while DH wore "The dark side of Walt Disney World" version. On the back we had the King Daddy, Queen Mommy and Princess designs. Got several comments on it.

I have Word 2000...

In the print dialogue box that comes up, click the button marked "Properties" next to the printer name. A new box will pop-up. Click on the middle tab which is labeled "Features." At the top, there is a section called "Orientation" and in that section under Potrait and Landscape is a box to check for Mirror Image.

I made my mousekeeping envelopes last night. I have a book called the Envelope Mill that has templates for making your own envelopes. The book suggests using magazine pages but I decided to try printing some of the great designs for T's onto regular copy paper and using those. They came out great. If I were a true DDA I could have added the template to my design but instead I just traced the template onto each page I printed, cut out the page, folded and glued. I had fun making them and I think the mousekeeping staff will see that we really appreciate their hard work. My DH thinks that's why we leave a tip and the envelopes are stupid and I've lost my mind. If I have time I'll post a photo but I've got packing to do because I'm going to Disney!

Here's a link to the book on amazon: Envelope Mill (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1565301498/qid=1128955047/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/002-7205336-4488045?v=glance&s=books)

Getting closer to page 500....

We are off to WDW in 15 days now ( ) so I HAVE TO start printing all these lovely designs. My shirts are washed and pre-ironed and waiting for me- I have narrowed it down to about 20 designs for our 8 day trip ;)
I promise to post when they are done.

Wow Brendita - you're v organised! I may have to borrow your list :goodvibes

Nothing jumps out that you may have forgotten - too late now as you've packed and sealed but my one big tip for flying is mix clothes for different people in different cases - then at least if one goes missing you both have clothes to wear :goodvibes

Not to worry rosiejo.
Everything is carry on size.
My bags stay with me.
I have been lucky never had to chech bags.
Even when we went to Paris for 2 weeks.

My DS once checked his bags.
They found his bags 2 hours before he was to leave again.

Brendita sounds like you all will have a great trip. It really helps to plan things in advance. I can't wait to go.

You sound like me. My family thinks I am crazy. I am going February 15-22, 2006 and I have been reading and planning for a month already. My son wanted to know why I need to read these guide books since I had been there before. LOL I love the planning part almost as much as the actually trip. LOL

Here's my Disney Mom bag graphic so far! I've been working on it in Word, but I transfered it to Paint so I could save the image alone. (That was tiny in one corner with white all around - can't figure out how to fix that, so I pasted it into a trial Dell Photo Studio file and was able to save the image alone.)

Hope this works - my first time adding a picture. I uploaded it to my gallery in the DIS Community Photo Galleries.

What do you think? Does it look too cluttered/busy?

I'd kind of like to have a Simba and his Mom clip (willing to replace Incredibles or Chip if necessary). Has anyone seen a good one?

I did everything you said but I don't have that option. The different year must be the difference. I guess I'll have to stick to the Hanes t-shirt software. Too bad!!

Moncia - I sent you a PM on how to print the exact steps in mirror image. Let me know if it works :flower:

We're leaving for WDW in 2 days and I'm not done with my shirts. Does anyone have a Epcot Food & Wine Festival design they are willing to share? I tried searching, but it's not really helping.

On the main page of the scrappbooking site is the thread on designs. Julia & Nicks Mom has a site and on page 6 is a neat one that we used as well as the one with mickey and donald. we wore those sat and sun. Had people taking pictures of us!!!

I can't tell you how to remove the glare and shadow, but he looks great! The costume is awesome!

Its all about the light. When taking pictures, the light show be behind You. So move to a place wear it is light and no shadow on the subject... also the glear is from the light/flash... try taking one with a lot of light, but no flash... hope that helps

Thanks so much for your posts (Miss Missy, Dumby & Triplefigs)! I was so excited to finally be able to add a design idea to this board (Disney Mom bag)! :cool1:

I have a son, so I was looking mostly for Mothers and sons, though I included a few that I believe are girls. Mothers are kind of few and far between in Disney.

There is a teenage girl daughter for the Incredibles. And I believe I've seen some other shirts here that highlighted the mom Aristocat and a daugher Aristocat. Lady has mostly girl puppies, then the little boy Scamp one. Dumbo, Bambi, Lumpy, and Roo (and Chip I think) are boys. I almost included a Bambi & Mom one that included Bambi's girlfriend (forgot her name right now). Tried also looking for Bambi's kids.

I looked up some for Simba for ya and there are two of Mom here : almost at the bottom of the page. Could you add simba to one with here in it?
