Amy & Kevin - have a great trip!!! I can't wait to see pictures!! Will you be in the MK on the 8th?
Happy Birthday Brendita!! I baked you a cake and put it on your birthday thread - what time is the party?
When I was ironing all those shirts - I was thinking a heat press would be great -I think one of my friends has one - I am going to call her and see if I can borrow it!! Are you all jealous?

Happy B-day Brendita!
I just got Alyssa down for a nap (crazy child woke up at 5:50 A.M. I guess she's just as excited as we are!!!), and I couldn't resist checking in one more time.
I hope everyone's kiddos are feeling 100% at WDW! Alyssa threw up twice the other day, followed by a day of...well, you know, the dread "d" word (I can't even spell it, but I think it's a gross word). Her mood/behavior these past few days have been completely normal and she doesn't have a fever, so I'm hoping whatever "bug" got in her system has passed.
Kate, according to our notes, we're eating at Concourse Steakhouse for dinner that night, and I think we're headed to MK after dinner to see Spectro. The park hours have been extended until 11 p.m. I'll keep my eye out for you all, but you know how oblivious I can be when I'm concentrating on something (e.g. shopping at Disney Store and not noticing woman staring at me).
Okay, I really need to go finish packing. Kevin should be home any minute! I have butterflies in my stomach! :flower:

Yep. They were all packages...one with dining, one without.
Nothing for AP holders or DVC owners :(
Hope everyone has a great trip! We *may* be in one of the parks this weekend...not sure yet. If so, we'll be looking for you! :magnify:

Ok, so I figured by age 5 we'd be way past this problem... I guess not. DS just swallowed a penny, and I think he was encouraged by DS and DD. I called the Pediatrician, and pennies made after 1982 are highly corrosive in the stomach due to a high percentage of zinc. DS has also had stomach surgery (a Fundoplication) which may make it harder for him to pass it.
So, I have to watch him closely for the next 2 days and see if it has passed. If not, he will have to go to the hospital to have it removed. So, could you please send prayers that he passes it without trouble? Guess the new piggy bank is being put up.
Here's an article about swallowing a penny.

HUGE REQUEST!
I'm getting behind on personalizing designs for everyone. I was wondering if someone would be willing to take the designs I have in PhotoShop and personalize them for people? I can send them all on CD. If anyone is willing to help me out, please send me a PM. I guess I'll have to also include all my fonts.
Thanks if you're interested! :goodvibes

Nick swallowed a penny last year at WDW and I called our Pediatrician - they told me just to watch his stool and as long as he passed it - not to worry about it -
less than 24 hours later we had the penny - hopefully - you will too!!

Hi guys,
I am absolutely sick over this whole new code discount thing. DH had me take the $375 savings instead of paying $175 more to upgrade to AKL for 7 nights. Since AKL seems pretty open during our time, I was very optimistic about getting upgraded to a savannah view.
Please reassure me that we did the right thing taking the discount and not the upgrade :guilty:

I am sitting here close to tears - what is wrong with me!?! I just read that last year Columbus Day rivaled Christmas with its crowds!!
I would NEVER go to WDW in what is considered peak season - and had to push my trip up a week this year for reasons I just don't want to go into -
anyway - we HATE crowds that is why we go in the fall - I was there in May for the HCOE grand opening and I thought the crowds were HORRIBLE and when I got back people who go at Christmas said the crowds were so light and great!! I am so mad right now - especially b/c of why I changed my dates!!
I really hope the parks aren't that crowded b/c that will just stink!!!

Hi Kate - we have similar worries as we took a trip in November 03 and it was so quiet we said we'd always do November - then after we book for this year we hear that Jersey week now rivals Thanksgiving! So much for a quiet fortnight and then us braving thanksgiving on our honeymoon when we'll be seeing the rest of the World! Now it looks like a hectic first and last week

:goodvibes
I'm just BUMPING this request for Midnite as it may have got lost in all the penny passing PD (Hope it all works out by the way triplefigs)
I'd love to help but I don't have a copy of photoshop and I'm in the throes of last minute wedding stress, I can't have any more distractions or I will live to regret it :rolleyes1
Anyone else do the honours?

We learned the same thing...our trip is planned the week of Columbus Day (9-15) and I'm worried about crowds.. but at the same time I've heard it's pretty quiet ... so I don't know... I'm going expecting it to be crowded the weekend and day of CD.. but hoping that things thin out over the week.... DH is VERY anti crowd so I'm hoping that I can make it a good trip for him... we're avoiding the main parks on Sunday and Monday and then just playing it by ear as much as possible... hopefully won't be too bad.. just avoid the MK on the 10th

Brendita -- Prayers for your situation, and we hope you have a quick return! :grouphug:
Kate -- It's so frustrating to be so close to something and have a possible wrench thrown into your plans.... I hope that last year was a fluke and/or somehow you'll just miss any crowds!
Triplefigs -- any news yet?

Don't worry ! Think of the good things. It should be okay, except for the weekend. And, if you get to Belz, they have a hugh tent sale 14th-16th of October. Disney usually has a huge tent with everything like 70% off.
We had a ball one May when we stumbled on the tent sale (they have two a year). And we bought remmington razors for $10 or $15. That is cheaper than the replacement blades. Even DH enjoyed himself.
Have fun, and hope the crowds are light for you. We are going 22nd-29th.

Brendita - I hope that life gets better for you soon and all your troubles pass. You and your family are in my prayers.
J&N's Mom - You are worrying me now because we are going the week before Christmas. Although I knew the crowds were going to be heavy, w/ DS now in school I didn't want to pull him out for a whole week. I have an itinerary and hopefully we will be following it to beat the crowds.

I have printed 8 transfers for lite colored shirts for our trip. I started trimming this am. Can someone tell me if you have to leave a 1/8 or 1/4 inch edge around the design? Or what will happen if I just cut around the border?

Having grown up in SLC, I am playing guess that photo spot....
The one of Alissa and Kyle- I KNOW where that granite is from... ;)
The garden shot....hmmm, this is a little tougher. I want to say Red Butte gardens at the U of U- but it may also be the new gardens by the eagle gate?
Beautiful photos and you have a beautiful daughter.

Celeste- you are a clever, well educated girl! You are absolutely RIGHT! The garden picture is in Red Butte Gardens at the U of U, and the white granite...... The SLC Temple of course! 2 of our 3 kids live in Utah (one at U of U) the other (Alissa- at BYU) and the oldest is a flight attendant for Soiuthwest and currently is based out of Chicago.... although that will be changing in the next month or so. Did I notice you are from Illinois, or was it Indiana? WE have family in the CHicago area and family in Illinois.
Julia & Nicks Mom- I wouldn't worry about the crowds when you go. People sometimes over exagerate when they speak about crowds. There may be more people then usual in October, but it certainly won't be like the Thanksgiving crowd or the Christmas crowd! I was at WDW in October 2 years ago, and while it was more crowded then what I was use to going in January, it was still VERY managable and we had a wonderful time!
Rosijo- thanks! Those flower colors just came out the sky and fell into our laps! Alissa had the hardest time trying to decide colors for her wedding, SO, she started with one idea.... and it formed into these flowers. Her wedding dress was actually a strapless dress. She had the capped sleeves added- and I really liked it a lot better that way. The dress was designed by Maggie Soterro (sp?) - who is a wedding dress designer in the USA, but could be international as well. Instead of a traditional white gown, ALissa liked the "champagne" colored one one her better- and I agreed with that too. Taht white dress just paled her out soooo bad. When are you getting married? It's lots of work isn't it?
Brendita- So sorry you are having rough times right now. Please, if you need any help, let us know. We will miss you and your talents much!
Midnite- I would LOVE to help, if you can send me directions on how to do what you need done, I'd love to learn it!

I am so bad with faces that even though I have seen you all now I'm sure that I wouldn't recognize you in the thousands of people we will see at WDW unless of course I recognize your shirt or see a lime green Mickey.
Deb
Deb, your comment reminded me of something that happens to me....sometimes I don't recognize former patients- I always blame it on the fact that they are wearing real clothes. I tell them, put the gown on- then I'll know who you are. ;)

I really hope the parks aren't that crowded b/c that will just stink!!!
Here is my tip:
If you are staying on property- go to the EARLY magic hours....avoid the late magic hours parks, go to the parks that are doing their regular hours. Use the fast pass often and wisely....remember that you can't get another one until 30 mintues before the earliest time on your fast pass. The crowds won't be bad after Monday....
Very nice of you to make so many shirts for other people.
How did you like the transfer paper on ebay? I am going to be making 100+ shirts for my cruise in September, for the "Diserthon" and if you liked that paper- maybe I'll try it too. Who was the seller?
I hope you have a great vacation.

she sells the 8.5 x 11 for .26 cents a sheet but that is once you hit 100 - she doesn't list prices below 100 - so anyone else mighthave to check throguh ebay
also - she sells 100% cotton shirts (not sure of brand) for 1.92 each (white) with free shipping on 100 or more shirts
you could get everything from her!! I have been really happy with her!!

The ligth transfers will not show up on the shirt - you can trim around the edges getting close but not so close that you cut the design and it will not show on the shirt - if there is space in the design you will not notice the transfer

Thanks, I appreciate that. I cut around the design on one and I didn't know if I could use it or not. I have also learned to go out and try to find some for dark transfers even if the shirts are a light colored beige or sage. My Animal Kingdom is now green instead of beige, but it still looks good.

Here's an article about swallowing a penny.
http://www.cnn.com/HEALTH/library/HQ/01661.html (http://www.cnn.com/HEALTH/library/HQ/01661.html)
I'm so sorry that this happened. My DS did the same thing when he was 2. He was begging for attention just after the twins were born, and he figured that would be a good way to get it. Our ER doctor told us to watch his diapers and within 48 hours he should pass it. Wouldn't you know? 48 hours almost to the minute it was found in his diaper. He was none the worse for wear, but the penny and turned green. DH thought it was so cool, that after he washed it off, and it was still a bright green, he decided to keep it to show all DS girlfriends when he gets older. Weird, huh?
I'm sending good thoughts your way, that it will pass soon, and uneventfully.

Thanksgiving POint has some nice garens too- but Red Butte, in my opinion was much nicer. Unfortuantely, both places charge money to get bridal pics. shot there.
OH! I have to tell you all the cutest story about when Alissa had her pics taken in Red Butte Gardens. It was a Monday night and there were alot of families there. Alissa was walking around and one little girl, who was riding her big brother's shoulders, screamed out at the top of her lungs, "Look Mom! I found a PRINCESS!" then- she pionted at ALissa. Isn't that the cutest thing you ever heard? :)

I took my 4-designs-per-page Word printouts (great idea, whoever posted it earlier.... thanks!) and am prepared to make about 13 shirts.
Unfortunately, NONE of them are for our trip :rotfl:
I didn't dare try to narrow that down yet, so I just made a few that I plan on wearing before and/or after, and a couple that are to be gifts.
I was all set to make a few of them, but I remembered all you experts have said you have to wash them first. Dang it! I guess they'll have to wait till later.
Off to do some review software... blah.

I know I'm two pages behind but we were down last year for Columbus Day weekend. Just hopped down there because the children had extra days off from school,....and we had an awesome time. I didn't think the crowds were bad at all. The only time we had a problem was on Saturday after Wishes and who doesn't have trouble getting the bus back on a Saturday after Wishes. You are going to have a great time. I've just been feeling homesick and sorry for myself because we were down there almost this time last year. So buck up, girl! It will be wonderful. You'll see.

Yes, this thread is a KILLER! I have a test pretty much every monday, and the weekends are the ONLY time I have to study... and, as it would be, the only time I really have to be on these boards (besides 10 seconds at a time during the week).
I did dabble with a LITTLE (little little) bit of designing before really getting into the thick of the school year, but that's long gone. Now I hardly have time to keep up! :)

Help! Kate, or anyone who has used the ebay paper (which I'm VERY excited to try, since it's "awesome") :)
I kind of had the idea that we (the DDA) had established that a 50/50 blend works just as well as 100% cotton. Is that true for this paper as well? I am about to wash these shirts to start tonight or tomorrow, and all but 1 are a blend! I didn't really read the instructions before purchasing, since so many had had no difficulty with the blend shirts.
Am I wasting my time with this load?

You have made my day today.
I can't explain right now.
I just had something happen to me.
Sorry I can't go into it right now.
All I can say is everyone health wise is OK.
I will be off-line for a while.
I need to figure out some things in my personal life.
I want to say you all are the most caring bunch of people.
I have had the pleasure to meet.
Keep this thread going strong.
I'll be back later.
You are in my prayers!!!

J&N's Mom - Cute picture! My DDs would love it too.
I started freaking out about the crowds in the past few weeks because they increased the hours and there are no discounts for those weeks. I am still nervous. We like to go in Jan but we planned around fall break from school & we wanted to go to the Halloween party too. I have a lot of friends around home that went that week last year. They said it was not crowded during the week and that they walked right on rides. We plan to go to Epcot on Columbus Day because we figure they can handle the crowds the best. Oh Well, at least we will be at Disney!!!

Well, a few things....
I got several shirts done, but I guess the digital camera is still in DH's car from the corn maze last night with mom, dad and sis..... so no pictures tonight (he's on call) :sad2:
Also.... what do I do when my "parchment" from the ebay papers gets worn out. I must have overworked it, because it's about down to nothing. And don't think you can just use wax paper (as with another transfer I used in the past).... because it won't work. One of my favorite designs is now most definitely stuck to the shirt..... but it also has the paper stuck on top (in perfect form, I might add) :confused3 :faint: Any ideas?
On a brighter note, Pampered Chef rectangular pizza stones work fantastic for iron-ons where there is no formica! :p

Thanks for the tip on the pizza stone! That's good thinkin'!
As for the parchment paper, no idea how to get if off the shirt.
But, you can buy parchment paper on a roll. It's usually either in the baking section or with the aluminum foil and saran wrap...
Good luck!

Is that different than the "wax paper" I find near aluminum foil and saran wrap? Because that's what I used that got stuck!

Parchment paper and wax paper are two different things. The wax paper would most definitly stick to the shirt. I don't know how you will get if off. Good luck.

eh, I'm not going to try and get it off. Thankfully, it was a cheap, farily plain t-shirt and only 1 sheet of transfer paper. I just didn't know what to do in order to AVOID ruining anymore!
Thanks, though.... I'll check next time I'm at the store. I'm assuming that's what came with the paper, is the same parchment you're all referring to :)

I just ironed on a transfer printed on Avery dark paper on a dark purple shirt. Tink's wings turned a light purple. I did wash the shirt first no fabric softener. It started changing the color after only 1 minute of ironing. Does anybody know if I did something wrong or does a dark shirt just fade through a little bit?

I used a couple of different brands of grey T-shirts and found that one brand did bleed through a bit on the white areas. I ironed all the shirts the same length of time and they were all 100% cotton, but I definately notice the difference.
Tink 2020. I would try washing the T-shirt that has the waxed paper stuck to in in hot water. The paper may come off in the wash leaving the design on the shirt. You've got nothing to lose at this point.

Well, while all of you have moved on, I am just starting my tie dye shirts this weekend.
Bought nice t-shirts at Target for $1.12 on the clearance rack. Washed them, dried them, drew on Mickey heads, stiched and banded 1. Stitching the 2nd one now, will tie dye tomorrow.
Hopefully they will look good enough that I can post my first pictures!
Triplefigs: Love your sense of humor about the whole thing. I love that you can keep score. Sorry that the poop is winning :rotfl:
Brendita: So sorry that you are struggling right now. Know that our thought and prayers are with you.
For the person who was planning to make more than 100 T-shirts: I suggest you take your camera ready artwork to your local T-shirt shop. You will be amazed how cheaply they can make them for you. To save even more money, you could order your T-shirts and just have them create and heat press the transfer.
Thanks for keeping me entertained.

Tink, sorry about the shirts, that is my biggest fear that I will come this far and ruin 'em. All I have done so far is prewash the shirts and pre-iron them so there's no wrinkles when I put the transfer on.
And to whomever posted the tip about the PC stones- that is genius!! We only have Corian in our house and I was afraid of using my table after what happened to Kate's :guilty:

The wedding is November 15 - I just went for my dress fitting yesterday - my dress is a Maggie Sottero too! It's a gold two piece, with an embroidered bodice and a great puffball skirt - very Disney princess I think (I completely agree about white dresses washing you out - I'm far too pale to wear one).
Planning is hectic although we're having an intimate at the poly so Disney are doing a lot of the work! Not long to go now though, I've spent so long planning the ceremony and the actual trip to Disney that I'm not sure what I'll do when I get back home and it's all over :worried:
I am looking forward to the trip though - one month tomorrow we fly! :cheer2:

You really only need 300 dpi (resolution in your graphic program) for professional printing. For an ink jet printer, somewhere around 180-200 dpi is usually about as good as it can print. Part of the confusion is that the screen resolution, resolution your graphic program uses, and the printer resolution aren't exactly the same thing.
You do need LARGE clip art to get good results. Clips that are intended to be shown only on a computer screen are usually too small. If you are usuing Google to search for clips, you can set it to look for Large, Medium or Small. Ideally you need Large - but sometimes you can get away with Medium depending on what you are doing with the graphic.
Hope that helps some...

A good friend of mine moved out to Seatle Washington a month ago and within the first week there her middle son(6) convinced his little brother (3) to swallow a dime. Needless to say it got stuck in his throat. They got it out after a frantic call to 911 with a ride in the ambulance to the ER and the doctor's just had to put him out so his body could relax and the dime came right out. My friend did learn something that day.... dimes are small enough that they will not completely block your airway if swallowed, thus allowing you more time to get them to the hospital.....
Hope that penny passes soon! Kids sure are a hell of an adventure!

He was adamant he swallowed it, said he choked some, and then it went all the way down to his toe. Kids are a hoot! So, yes, I am almost 100% sure he did (especially since the other 2 said he did too). An x-ray will be an easy way to make sure if he did or didn't. Well, here they come.... first, the one I'm wearing during our "Disney Dinner" (4 days before the trip, sis finds out we're flying, watchin' a Mickey Christmas movie, etc for one last hurrah before we leave). I keep assuring people I WON'T be a park commando, but it should still be funny.

very funny! I printed that design for the front of my binder!!
Wasn't it a great game - they need to lay off the penalties though!! It is so nice to see them winning again! I have a lot of respect for Marvin Lewis!!!

He's fantastic! Even still, he keeps talking about keeping them in line and taking each game as "one sunday, versus the ____" instead of worrying about the games ahead or reveling in the previous wins.
What fun, to actually hear the Jungle get so loud during my lifetime :)

Ok, sorry some of those were so large! I save the files the same size, upload them to the same site, and some end up bigger than others :confused3
Oh, well.
Triplefigs, please let us know how your son's appointment goes (if it turns out to be necessary).... you're in our prayers!
Kate, thank you so much for checking! I'm really in no hurry! :) I just want to make them for my grandmother and grandfather (oh yes, almost gray haired and still do the harley thing), and Mickey would be fine for both if Minnie isn't out in time. Or if, say, you want to get some stuff done for YOURSELF :)
Thanks again! 'Night all.... off to read some more postpartum hoo-ha until I fall asleep. (triplefigs, will you take my test for me tomorrow if you don't end up being too busy? )

What are you studying in postpartum? I worked that for years. If you have any questions, ask away. I will tell you one question that we all failed. What is required before a woman can have an epidural? You must run a full bag of fluid in beforehand to make sure she's hydrated and to allow the epidural meds to flow properly!
and your shirts look great!

Tink2020 - what cute shirts. I just tie-dyed my first two tonight, so I am still 22 hours from seeing what they look like.
I did buy my Avery paper today at W-M, and printed off the one for my niece "It's my B-day - feel free to treat me like a princess" - she will be 22, but is so excited about it. Her shirt is in the dryer right now. Should do it tomorrow.
May I ask a question? It tells me to trip around the design, but it is kind of hard to trim this one - what should I do? It is the pink minnie head with crown and the words flank the top and bottom.?
Triplefigs - I saw that you had posted and was hoping that the penny won. Hopefully he will poop before your appt. tomorrow and all will pass. Good luck.

thanks :) I don't think I have specific questions that I know of.... that's just the problem. I know the material forwards and backwards, but now they have these stupid "alternate format" questions and they drive me nuts. All these "check all that apply", "draw where on the woman you'd do this or that", "explain Leopold's maneuvers", etc..... on top of all the normal, tricky analytical multiple choice questions that already WERE the format. I should really be fine, I'm just burned out. I knew you had said you worked postpartum for a while, so I thought I'd at least see if you'd CONSIDER driving up for my test :rotfl2:
I'll let you know tomorrow if I have any questions.... our prof is NOTORIOUS for not getting our grades back to us for an eternity, and even then we don't see what we missed unless we schedule something with her..... in our spare time :)

so you put it in the oven with the pizza on? for a stonebaked bottom effect?
The pizza stone retains the heat and cooks the pizza evenly. so you don't have burnt edges and raw center.
Thats what you want when transfering something that keeps the heat. one of the reasons they say not to use an ironing board is because it is made to not get as hot.. and you WANT it to get hot on both sides to get the best stick.

The nurse that I had when I had my first child must have failed this class! Luckily I was having a c-section and was already strapped to the table. I got so light-headed that I nearly passed out, until they gave me a shot of something in my IV. I remember them saying something about me not having enough fluids. Second time was much better.

That was me. I did a dress for DD's 4th bday and a T for her 5th. Both came out great! I followed the transfer directions to a T (ha ha), especially the part about putting a folded pillowcase under the shirt.
Her shirt didn't last longer than a day because it was part spandex, but I think I'll be able to re-iron it with the special paper that came with the transfer material.

Thank you all for making me feel better!!!!!
Tour Guide Mike is the person who said crowds were so high - I think I will prepare for the worst and hope for the best!!!
Don't worry too badly if you are following TGM, Kate. We used his advice for our last trip, and we had Star Wars, Flower & Garden Show, and Gay Days all overlapping, as well as the HCOE. Yes, there were crowds but we were always in front of them and enjoyed our trip enormously!
Triplefigs - I hope everything is moving okay for your ds! I still have more pages to catch up on.
Brendita - sending prayers and pd your way!

Just got home from the doctor. DS's Penny has also moved to the lower intestine. Thank goodness! So he is on a stool softener. Hoping for an appearance in the next couple of days.
Thanks to all for the good thoughts and well wishes! C'mon Penny!!!!!!!!!!
I hope you find the "change" soon. :)

Did you get to be at the last game on Sunday? I watched it on TV and was really moved when they brought the Clydesdales out. Brought back old times.

Are you walking in the half again in January?

LOL, Tammi!
Karen - nope, not doing WDW in January but giving some serious thoughts to doing the DL half! I just started WISHing again so that will help me get back on track. What better excuse to see DL for the 1st time than a half marathon? :teeth:

I don't think ANY of them will. I took the penny covered in poop (had surgical gloves on) and showed them all three UP CLOSE and PERSONAL what a penny looks like after traveling the GI tract. They were all appropriately grossed out and vowed NEVER to eat anything except food! :scared1:
My good friend (who has triplets) emailed me and said that I should watch out. This story will end up being mentioned at their weddings when they're toasting each other one day...:rotfl:

I know. I should have done football to begin with. Just realized tonight how appropriate "Quarters" were compared to innings. I should go back and edit every post so they are consistent. NOT! :rotfl:

Okay, checking in on my t-shirt update.
Two tie dyes done and photographed. One "It's my Birthday....Feel Free to Treat me Like a Princess" done and photographed.
Digital camera battery dead and charging and I still have to figure out how to move them from camera to laptop to Photobucket (I did open an account).
Hopefully will be able to post soon.
Learned a lot. Not happy with the tie dying pattern. Oh well, I put DS's colors on niece's shirt - he doesn't want all that pink on his, so I have to redo for him.
The Avery transfer on her B-day shirt looks good, except where the transfer shows up between lettering, a little yellowed. Did I iron for too long?
I will post pics as soon as I can.

Kate,
I may have to borrow this pattern also. It would be perfect for DH. He would have no clue what any of it meant. I would have to substitute TGM for MNSSHP and a few others, but way too funny! I love your work and thanks for the help last night. :jumping1:
Thanks also for all of the time you have spent doing this for everyone. I can't imagine it, what with getting ready for your own trip.

The "quarters" symbolism is absolutely perfect. Of course, since it is almost play-off season, baseball worked too.
Glad that "This too has passed" and that all is well. It seems all 3 have learned a lesson from this.

OK - here goes, my first postings of pictures, I hope this works
T-shirt #1 Pink Tie-Dye (size for my DS11 - colors for DN) guess it will be too big for the 22 year old, but she should be thrilled to get an extra shirt. I don't like the U shape on the bottom - need to figure out what I did to make this
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a194/disneyeveryyear/pinktie-dye.jpg
T-shirt #2 Turquoise Tie Dye - (colors for my DS11, but size of my DN22) - I did this at the same time as above and made the same mistake
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a194/disneyeveryyear/turquoisetie-dye2.jpg
T-shirt #3 with pattern from n&j's mom - looks cute, but in between the letters, the transfer has yellowed - did I iron too long?

I simply showed them the penny in my gloved hand. I don't believe that is disgusting. That is showing them what happens to an object that is swallowed that is not meant to be swallowed. They are 5 and studying the body in school. I did not thrust it in their face or make them touch the penny. It definitely made an impression, and I highly doubt that they will put objects in their mouths that could be dangerous in the future. In my book, that is a worthy lesson.
Now what was disgusting was digging through poop every night. JMHO.

Unfortunately many of the lessons our children must learn in life aren't pretty. I agree with what she did and I am sure it made an impact on her kids that they won't soon forget.
There could have been very serious consequences for her son. They were very lucky that he passed it naturally.
Just sorry that she had to do poop patrol for 4 days!

WTG on posting pictures! I like the yellow one best. I didn't notice a "U". The yellowing probably is from too much heat. It may fade some with washing? I think you did a great job on the shirts!!!
