Love them. They are going to be so fun to wear. I really like changing the little cars at the top for each design. Nice touch. I'm thinking of finding a group clipart of all 7 dwarfs and making a small design for the front, putting your awesome designs on the back of the shirts. I may put the appropriate dwarf's name under the front logo. I'm thinking of calling them Seven Dwarves Automotive industries. I also am considering Seven Dwarf Automotive a Cottage Industry. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I figured having the same thing on the front of each shirt might tie them together better and I might even have to make hats with the design. I can't stop there, I think that hats are in order. I want to iron them on, but I need to shop first. Short sleeved shirts, long sleeved shirts, both actually I think. We will get a lot of wear out of these around here. In fact I may wear the bashful one to the car show on Saturday.
I'm on pins and needles waiting for Sleepy.....
Thanks a million.

so you all know I went to a wedding on Saturday (not mine!;))
it was a co-worker of my DH - there are only 8 people in his office - they all chipped in to pay their airfare for their honeymoon and DH's boss gave them his condo for a week -
where?
The Florida Keys!
I feel so bad for them!!! They are holed up in a hotel somewhere! Oh well - you aren't supposed to leave your room on your HM anyway - right!

You snuck the last one in while I was posting. Sleepy is great too. Would you do one with the Seven Dwarves? A group pic in the center. Put Automotive at the top of the design. Seven on one side, Dwarves on the other and a Cottage Industry along the bottom (grey part) I don't think I need a slogan underneath as this will be done smaller for the front and hats.
Thanks a million.

LadyLuca and My3Princes -- Love the car designs, as will DBF who is a HUGE car fan!! He would wear these designs outside of Disney, too. Please do make the Snow White one so I have something to wear that matches him. I don't get the "shell" reference in the Snow White business name. Has it been too long since I saw Snow White?
Brendita and Shriva -- Thank you for making and cleaning up Heffalump's Halloween. Lumpy is my new fave!!
Now I don't know what to do about Halloween. Was going to wear LadyLuca's Minnie Mouse witch t-shirt, but guess I'll have to make a sweatshirt with Lumpy to wear when it gets chilly. We won't be at WDW, though. Instead we will be in Vegas for the Jimmy Buffet concert (have Margaritaville t-shirts already for that). Will it be odd for us to wear Disney Halloween stuff in Vegas and on the flight home? Ah, who cares?! We'll have fun!!
Triplefigs -- Think I am your long lost fourth triplet (you'd have had to be like 2 when you had me, but you get what I mean). The triplets and I like all the same movies -- Heffalump, Aristocats... How do they feel about Lady & the Tramp?! That's my other
fave.
Baloo -- Love the mailbox!! If you could make a template and post it here, I'm sure others would follow suit! We could use the template for other things, too. Nothing is safe from getting a Disney design!!

Ladylucca do you have the Grumpy one without the shirt background? My dh wants me to put it on a long sleeve T-shirt to go with the rest of ours.
I just got back from Walmart and was able to get us all grey sleeveless shirts, black long sleeve t-shirts and I found hats on clearance for $1 each that have a clear pocket on the front that is intended to hold a fishing license, but I'm going to print the seven dwarfs logo and laminate it and slide it into the pocket. I hope it looks ok.

I have really enjoyed this thread and I would like to thank my friend Steffy who introduced me to it.
To Midnite: The Celebr8 design you made looks so good on a dark pink shirt and we plan to put the individual designs that Momof2oh designed on the back. puckerup:
Then we will wear the Welcome Foolish Mortals on 9/30 for the MNSSHP on a blue shirt. We also used your Animal Kingdon- on a lime green shirt, MGM Studios--on a red shirt, the blue Magic Kingdom on light blue and Port Orleans on a lilac color shirt. My sister is using the Pop Century when she arrives. :goodvibes
For our flight in we will wear the Destination DW that TripleFigs made with the Port Orleans on the back from Midnite. :earsboy:
Momof2OH I love the Penn State and Eagles designs. :cheer2:
Julie&NicksMom we are using two of your designs. The Epcot Food and Wine with the glass in the center we printed on a purple shirt and that is my favorite. :rose: Plus we used the Epcot Food and Wine with Mickey & Donald on a white shirt. In fact, that one we will wear home on the plane.
Baloo--love the mailbox design. Do not think I could get away with it on ours even though we live out in the country. :rotfl:

The top is great. Just take off the dis-member at the bottom and the green mickey. If you find a Harley-Minnie then you can say on the bottom of that one
Proud Wife of a Harley Owner. I am not sure if you will be able to find a Harley-Minnie.....I know I have looked and so has J&N's mom. With your design and J&N's design he will have two Harley shirts for our family trip......THANKS!!!

Here is a picture of the first hat I made.
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a240/my3princes/dwarfhatweb.jpg
It is a little blurry, but it has the Automotive Seven Dwarf Design. I printed it 3 1/2 inches wide by about 2 inches high on photo paper. Then I used self laminating business card protectors (Walmart) and laminated them. Then I slipped the design into the pocket on the hat. They look like hats that a trucker or someone in the Automotive field might wear.
If we decide to do a second MNSSHP maybe we can wear our shirts and hats with jean short with a shop rag hanging out of our pockets. That would be easy and quick and not at all hard to pack since we plan to wear the shirts anyway. My 3 boys love the designs. I plan to give my shirt a test run this weekend. Now to wash the blank shirts and print the designs....Well maybe I should wait until tomorrow.

I have been following this thread and lurking for as long as this thread has been around. I am in awe of designs you have all done. I love the idea of matching shirts, but I know that I do not have the talent to do what you guys are doing.
I am patiently waiting to see if all 7 dwarves are immortalized. We have 7 ppl. going in November, and it would be a hoot if we could all "match", but not really.
In addition, I bought t-shirts today to start my tie-dye experiments. FYI, anyone looking for t-shirts for kids, Target has them on sale. I found ours on the 75% off rack in the boys department. They do have a pocket, however, I was able to remove each pocket in about 5 minutes. The best part, nice heavy, 100% cotton white shirts for $1.12 each. I don't feel too bad about experimenting now.
There were also some other colors that would work well for the transfer.
Hope this might help some of you.
Back to lurking!

Julia&Nick'smom The designs are definately interchangable in the hat. I couldn't believe that they we clearance for $1 each. They had black/beige which are the ones I purchased, navy/beige, and solid beige. They were on the baseball hat rack in the mens department.
Luccylady. I see a request for the other dwarfs. If you post the original (that you so nicely cleaned up) Grumpy design that would only leave Doc and Sneezy to create. If your game I'll try to think up some clever slogans/business ideas. Let me know if your game.

Just so you know next time, you don't have to take the pocket off if you don't want to! I could only find pocket T's for my little guy last year so his has a pocket. After it's all dyed it doesn't show up hardly at all so you can't tell his is any different from ours!
Now if you're doing a transfer on the front, that's another story.... I don't put transfers on my tie-dyes, and when I do transfers, always put them on the back with a "pocket sized" design on the front!

so the designs on this hat could be interchangable?
I see a whole new world of designs opening up for DDA husbands!!
I am envisioning Momof2OH's Nascar designs on these hats for DHs. They'll be a hit!
Why can't I ever find anything good at Walmart? I went in the other night and found nothing but a mess. The one good thing I found was the new DVD of Heffalump's Halloween. I couldn't find any good t-shirts in the women's dept. Are you all looking in the Men's dept for t-shirts? I want shirts in color, which I can find no prob at Target, so I gave up on Wal-Mart. Will have to go back for the hats, though, so will be willing to brave Wal-Mart again if someone can tell me which departo to look in for tees.

Slogan: Does your engine spit and sputter? Doc can fix it like no other.
I have no problem buying the prepackaged T-shirts at Walmart in the Men's underwear section. They are 100% cotton and will certainly hold up longer than the designs. I needed a long sleeve black T for myself. All of the womens ones were part spandex so I bought an XL in the boys dept. It fits fine and will match my boys perfectly.

I'm sorry you didn't have any luck :( That's where I managed to get matching shirts in red, orange, yellow, blue, grey, and white, and I *think* green. Got all the kids' ones in the boys dept. as the girl ones were ribbed and stretchy. Got the adult ones....well, all of DH's in the men's dept. and half of mine in men's, half in women's dept. They had all sorts of colors for the whole family.
BUT, this was about a month ago, and I notice those display aren't getting filled anymore, so it looks like they're on the way out to make room for the long sleeves. And since I'm in FL, we may have had the short sleeves out longer than other areas....
Target usually has lots of shirts. And for kids, Children's Place usually has theirs on clearance by now....I got some last summer 2/$8 or a little less....not cheap cheap, but ok if they have the right color!
Think Deb said the hats were in the men's dept. on the baseball cap display....but were on clearance for only $1 so don't be surprised if they're out!

Maybe the "T-shirt crowd" should set up a chat room somewhere else for tonight so we can still all be together.

You all have been busy!!! My weekend was crazy, then I was feeling a bit under the weather, but I have been trying to keep up with reading all the posts.
To all those who contributed - The dwarf designs are adorable!!!!
Kate - I LOVE the Alice in Wonderland one!
Baloo - the mailbox is toooo cute! My DS keeps wanting to see the pictures again and again (he's fascinated with mailboxes anyway - a little bizarre, I know!) ;)
Brendita - Love the Lumpy Halloween (the last one) - I will be putting it on a shirt for DS. He also loves to look at that picture! :goodvibes
I'm feeling the pain of no DIS tonight, too. I think I may actually do my ironing instead. I saw Michaels had the shirts for 2 for $5 in the Sunday ad this week. I was going to try to go today for more shirts, but the rain bands have not let up (I think the whole east coast of FL is flooded...) Anyway, I should probably make up the ones I have before buying more! ;) This is definitely addictive!
Well, for all you designers - I have been playing with Photoshop Elements for a few weeks, and finally came up with something finished (or pseudo-finished). I was thinking of putting this on for a night-shirt. If you have any suggestions for alterations I'd love to hear them. I'm still learning and playing... also, we'll see if I can actually post a picture...
Thanks again for all of your inspiration and designs!!! :teeth:

Hi,
Here are sweatshirts we made for trip last year in Dec. Their were 4 of us-2 moms and 2 boys and people would stop us and ask us where we bought our shirts. We wore them to MVMCP and had a blast.

For those of you that have ordered from blankshirts.com, what are the sizes like? Are they true to size? I've searched their site for a sizing chart, but can't find one.

Order a size bigger. I wear a med. & ordered large beings I was not sure how they would fit. After I washed & dried them they now fit like a med.

Here's another project from last night. I found a small back pack that I'm going to use as a purse/camera case while at WDW. I found it in the video game section at Walmart. It is a carrying case for Nintendo DS. It is the perfect size for me to carry my digital camera, cell phone, park tickets and money. I think my sunglasses will fit too. I printed the lime green mickey head about 3 x 4 inches with my screen name on it. I did it as a transfer and ironed it onto a pocket that I removed from one of the T-shirts and hand stitched it to the front of the backpack. If you see me wearing this stop me and say hello.

I can't see the site. Blocked!
But on that subject, I am always afraid of personalizing anything with a child's name. It gives info to potential wrong-doers. You could just put "ICE" and your cell phone number. I also put an entry in my cell phone name ICE and have numbers for relatives listed.

The advice that I have gotten is to put a card (laminated?), either in their pocket or if they wear a pouch, with their name, your name, your phone numbers, your resort, etc etc. This way no one can get the info simply by looking at them, but if they get lost they can present the card to a CM.

Does it seem to make any difference if the shirts are 50/50 or 100% cotton to do the transfers?
I found a great selection of shirts at Hobby Lobby (child's XS through Adult XXXL), but they are all 50/50. Does the transfer "stick" as well on 50/50?

I found great ID cards for my kids on The Mouse For Less website. They were great to have for all 10 of our kids at Disneyland. Fortunately, we never had to use them, but it was peace of mind to have them. The url is: www.themouseforless.com. There are some really neat things there.

Come to think of it, in VA we can go to the DMV and get a photo ID card (just like a driver's license, but not) for kids. I wonder if other states do that as well. But then it doesn't have parents name, phone numbers, etc.
I like the ones on themouseforless

One of the recent Family Magazines had a great idea to make them yourself with the elastic thread and beads. Can spell out Mom Cell and the number, etc and customize them with colors. I'm probably going to make them each a necklace or bracelet.
Other good idea is to have the tags made (like for pets) with your resort, your cell number, and Parent's name (not child's). Then thread it onto their tennis shoes on the very bottom (ie would have to completely unlace the shoes to take off/put on). I'm definitely doing this one. the tags are $5 each to make in the pet store, WalMart, etc.
Here's an old DIS thread on the subject that I bookmarked. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=784251

With a sharpee permanent marker, I put "ICE Mom - Cell #" inside my kids sneakers. If they ever needed to they could take their shoe off & show the CM.

You're in my prayers! I have family in Houston also. I called and talked to them this am. They told me about the traffic, no gas, and had been packed for a day. They are hopefully headed to Waco as we speak. I used to work in Galveston, and I am so upset over all this. The rest of my family lives in Mississippi and were hit by Katrina. Now Rita... and my in-laws just called and told us my DH's grandmother is in the hospital in B'ham with kidney failure and it doesn't look good. We're leaving after the kids school tomorrow to go say goodbye. This has been an unbelievable few weeks. I am so ready to go to WDW and escape for a while.

I am so sorry that you can't get out. They are predicting that this will be as bad if not worse than Katrina. I'll send Pixie dust and prayers your way. I am constantly watching the coverage and did not know anyone in the areas that will be effected. Knowing that you will be there make this storm even more personal. Prayers and Pixie Dust.

(this idea came from our school, the school photographers made some little cards last year. They are outdated now so I will make my own. There is a website listed on the cards of www.missingkids.com and it says you can learn how to keep your kids safer on that site)
I am making little business sized card with each of my kids names, age, Height, Weight, Hair and eye color. They will have a recent head shot of each child along with Dh and My name, cell phone number, hotels and dates. I plan to laminate them and Dh and I will have one for each child and they will have one in their belly bag so they can show it to a CM. Now that I think about it maybe I will put them on a T-shirt Transfer and iron it on to a small piece of fabric. I can pin it to the inside of their shirts or shorts. That way it will be on them even if they decide not to wear the belly bag. The older boys are 7 and 9 and can follow instructions. I just need to teach the little one what to do.

Where did you keep the ID cards?? I could keep a copy on myself in my backpack but where would the kids keep them in case they were lost??
My oldest daughter put hers in her fanny pack. For the rest of the kids, I laminated the cards, then punched holes on either side and threaded them on some string. They wore them around their necks underneath their shirts. I used really heavy kitchen string, so they wouldn't break, and knotted them really well.
Hope this helps.

Hi -
I think I am going to give the bracelet and the id tags on the shoes a try -
Julia tells everyone her name - so I don't care if she has it on - it wouldn't take a genius to get her name out of her - all they would have to do is look at her :rotfl:
I like the tags on the shoe idea but want something for when they don't have their sneakers on and they are too young for an id card - no where to put it!
Thanks for your input!!

Does it seem to make any difference if the shirts are 50/50 or 100% cotton to do the transfers?
I found a great selection of shirts at Hobby Lobby (child's XS through Adult XXXL), but they are all 50/50. Does the transfer "stick" as well on 50/50?
The Avery transfers actually say that the best results are with the 50/50 shirts.

Deb
This is what I do! I created a Word file and I just update the info and put in a new picture. I have it set up as a table so that I print one side, flip the paper over and print on the back. It comes out business card sized. I use resume paper since it's a bit heavier.
I used to cold laminate ... but if it gets wet - they fall apart! (Guess where I learned that!) I can share my file if I could figure out how to upload a Word doc. Can I?

I like the tags on the shoe idea but want something for when they don't have their sneakers on and they are too young for an id card - no where to put it!
Do they pin trade? I made a separate one with a cute Disney grpahic on one side and the ID info on the back with hotel & cell numbers. People only saw the Disney design on the card (which I anal retentively matched to each park!)

o no..thats what i was afraid of...i have to try to find orange shirts by tuesday !! any other ideas of where to check?
Go to your nearest t-shirt specialty store. They are usually local - don't know of any major brand names. They may cost a little more than Wal-Mart, but should have a good selection of colors and sizes.

Has anyone else been using the Print-n-Press transfers? These are the first ones I"ve ever tried and they're not coming out well :badpc: I've tried 3 shirts with 3 transfers.. the first one was mainly just a "test" shirt... cause it was mostly spandex... and the image printed out very dark as it was ... but part of the edge of the design kinda pulled up and there are creases through the shirt.... so I did another one last night... a 100% cotton one... and that one didn't turn out at all.... like the image didn't stick.. and then I was thinking I could salvage the shirt when a small part of mickey's head stuck down :( The rest of the image didn't even attempt to stick (although the transfer paper did stick to the shirt.. just not the image) and when I pulled it back it was all crackley. I think I might switch to the Avery that I see most of you using.. I just hate to waste the $20 i spent on 10 transfers.. ugh.

Someone asked for this yesterday, but I bought orange shirts at Target today.
Question for everyone -- When I ironed on my last batch of designs, I used paper for dark shirts, even on a white shirt. What happens if you use paper for white shirts on a colored shirt? If there is writing around the design (but not on the design itsefl) does that mean the shirt will show between the writing and design? That may not be so bad with some designs.

Anything that you want to be white will be the color of the shirt. Even flesh colors come out the color of the shirts. We did it on lime green shirts last year and Mickey and Minnies faces were a bit green. :rotfl:

Is Julia a daddy's girl? :)
it is ridiculous what my kids can talk my DH into!!! The second Julia was born she wrapped him so far around every finger it was pathetic!!!
My DH is adopted so our kids are the only blood relatives he has - he was born with some facial birth defects and really struggled with me being pregnant - he was so afraid he might pass on his birth defects - it is amazing to watch the wonder he has that he created such perfect beautiful children - he is a really good daddy and my kids both adore him - it is hard not to be wraped around someone's finger when she crawls up in your lap hugs you real tight and says "You're the BEST daddy in the whole world!!!!
