I have another question for all of you creative minds... I know this will sound stupid, but how do you pick the t-shirt colors that will fit best with the designs? How do the colors really come out on the dark/bright shirts? I've made my (very long) list of shirts I want to make, and looked at the shirts available at Wal-Mart, Target, and the shirt web-site just posted, and I just can't decide what colors go best. Do you try to match a color in the design? Does what you see on the screen match what comes out on the shirts? Do you take the design to the store? Please pardon my ignorance! DH is not very excited about my new hobby (he thinks in dollar signs), and I want the shirts to look GREAT (just like the designs do!!!) Any suggestions? Thank you!!!! :goodvibes
When Steffy and I originally thought to do this, we really didnt realize how much trouble we were going to have. :confused3 :confused3 So we first went to A C Moore and picked out a lilac and robin's egg blue just cause they looked good. :) Then I got on the cell with my sister in Ga and we each were at a Walmart and happened to find a gold mine in Hanes Just My Size :Pinkbounc and there we were talking and laying out shirts and making sure we had four of each color. :listen: We just thought the bright colors looked good and at that point had not really settled on what shirt for what design. (sorta) Then back to Steffy and I and we put out the shirts and just sorta matched what looked good and then we called my sister in Ga and made a final decision. :smooth:

OK I have downloaded the free trial on Photoimpact a week ago. Thought I could try it. I can't seem to figure out how to put a different background to my picture. :badpc: I want to extract the characters in the middle and put them on something else. If that makes sense? Can anyone point me in the right direction. :teacher:
Hi fellow Oregonian! :wave2: Are you able to get the characters extracted and pasted into a new image? Go ahead and pm me if you need to.

Thanks Tinker1bell! I kind of figured I would have to do just take the pictures and see them with the shirts. I just wasn't sure if the colors would come out exactly as they appear on the transfer paper. I haven't ever done any craft like this before, but I'm excited!!! I just played around with photoshop again, this time working with some of DH's castle photos. I did a nighttime castle pic with it lit up in bright pink, and put an impressionist brush over it - it came out so pretty! I'm still working on getting just the right frame, though. My next project is to figure out how to post pics - I'm headed to shutterfly next.
Triplefigs - LOVE the siggy!!! I'm a Seminole fan myself - can't wait for more football tomorrow!!! :cheer2:
Kadaten - we have AP's too. We go as often as possible, except during the heat of the summer! :sunny: We are going this Sat with friends for their DD's 2nd birthday, then next Sat for the Triathlon Expo, then a week off, then the following weekend (3 days/2 nights) for the races... I'm in the same boat with needing shirts without "vacation" and dates. I can't wait to see what the designers come up with! :flower: (A HUGE thank you to all of you designers!!!)
Anyway, I really need to get to bed! DS will be up early!!! Goodnight all!
Brendita

[QUOTE=kadaten]Well, you got 365 days but how often can you use it?
We're there every other weekend, at least! :teeth:
Gosh I love living in Tampa!
At least every other Saturday, a week in July for DS's bday (he got his first AP for his bday present), an overnight last weekend just to see fireworks, 2 nights in Oct for MNSSHP, 1 night for DD bday in November, 5 nights in December.....
So, anyone want to take a stab at a frequent visitor shirt? :teeth:
Or do you hate me now? :teeth:
No I don't hate you.
I envey you.
OK you got me.
I only get to go once a year 2 weeks, 14 days.
So I get to use 1 pass 2 times 4 weeks, 28 days.
I love Oregon wish it was closer.

I have a question?
A Disney Design Addict.
Means we are addicted to this thread.
Or designing.
I'm asking because.
My shirts are all done.
Even my neighbors that I helped her with.
I still have breakfast every morning while reading this thread.
After work as soon as I can, I'm back reading this thread.
Yes we will be @ WDW 14 days.
I really don't need to change 2x a day.
Had to UPS my DD shirts, no room in luggage.
So that's it I can't do any more shirts.
I already did the Halloween bag.
Even made a design for my DS Halloween costume.
Is this crazy feels like home here.
I lost it when you said you had to UPS dd's shirts... :rotfl: :rotfl:
Spoken like a true addict. :cheer2: I have missed a couple of hours, so I have to catch up. It's late. I need to be in bed.... :cloud9:

Ummm...aren't you supposed to be making a list and checking it twice?????
I'm in the same boat as you. We leave in about 11 days and I haven't packed anything, barely have a list, know that I'm forgetting to do about a hundred things, have no shirts made - I have bought the transfer paper and shirts, and have one shirt washed - that's it. I'm so far behind!
Ah yes, the one shirt washed. Me too!!
Hey, at least you know where your luggage is! We just moved and I looked everywhere at the condo... no luggage. I'm going to have to go through the storage area in this house! looking for luggage. My storage area is half the size of my entire condo!!! I'm in trouble.
I called Disney Direct and they can't get the Mickey luggage to me in time. :earseek:
I will be landing at MCO in 8 days. :hourglass with all of my earthly possessions in a black garbage bag if I don't get a move on!!! :hourglass

I got you on passes.

Ahh you got me there! I'd love to have annual passes but that damn ocean gets in the way and makes my WDW trips very expensive... oh to be able to *pop* to the MK on a saturday afternoon...

I still have not figured out my iteniary but I did pull together all the blank shirts that I have been buying here and there and came up with 14 shirts. Everytime i see a sale I think I can put a design on that.
We are only going for 3 days. Since the hurricane this trip has been on and off so I have been trying not to ask for too many designs but everytime I see one of these great designs I have copied it for future use I just checked and I have 300 files in my design folder.
Does this mean I am an addict? :rotfl:

I've only been lurking lately since we leave TOMORROW!! I finally got packed yesterday (waay behind for me). I hope I've tied up most of the loose ends. I love the "no crowds" of September but with both kids in school now, and soccer, etc... it's been crazy trying to get it all done. I really need this vacation now. If anyones going to be there next week let me know - I think I'm missing everyone by a week.
BTW - Triplefigs at least it's diet coke and not Pepsi - the dentist told me pepsi is the worst of the bunch for your teeth. I haven't gotten up to 10 a day but I don't have triplets - thank God.

Julia and Nick's Mom- A bathing suit can ALWAYS be at the top of your alphabetical list (and should be) if you use the word "a" in front of it! :earboy2: I, personally, love your alphabetical list because it is sooo comprehensive! I and have copied it, and expect to be in alphabet heaven sometime in the next 5 weeks when I begin to pack for my trip! :flower:

The other day I received an e-mail offer from Disney Cruise Line. At the top is a great animated gif that starts out as a bottle full of "pixie dust" on the waves and turns into the Disney cruise ship in a bottle. I thought those images might make for a great shirt for anyone going on a cruise.
Anyone want me to try to get them to you? Want to explain to a complete dummy the best way? I could forward the e-mail to someone. When I save it to my computer as a gif, I get the animated gif. When I save as bmp, I get the pixie dust bottle.
Let me know if anyone wants it.

I finally washed & dried these t-shirts that I odered over 2 weeks ago(yes I was procrasinating) :rotfl: Anyway I ordered large for myself because I was not sure how true to size they would run(I normally wear a med). When I received them the large looked to big, but after drying them today they are now a med size. I do not normally dry my shirts, but I wanted to see if these would shrink. So if you are ordering these & you dry your t-shirts in the dryer you might want to order a size larger than what you normally wear. Other than the shrinking I think these t-shirts are great(just glad I ordered a size bigger). I have all my transfers printed out, so hopefully today I will get some ironed onto these shirts & see how they look. Just wanted to give you all a heads up before you ordered :goodvibes

there is a special area you can park in - if I didn't have a stroller - I wouldn't care about it - but have you ever tried to get a double stroller on one of those trams!?!? While struggling with two little ones?
you still have to pay for parking but since I am staying on property and have an annual pass - I have that covered but would just like one for the convenience - certainly not a dealbreaker!

We will have 3 couples with strollers when we go in January. They asked about the rentals but I think if they bring their own the kids will be more comfortable. Plus we aren't exactly going during a busy time so I am hoping the buses won't be to crowded.

At someone's recommendation, I have only been using transfer paper for dark shirts, even on white shirts. They said the colors came out better on the paper for dark shirts. For those of you who have used both, what have you found to be the difference?

Hi everybody,
It's nap time at my house so I thought I would check in and see what all you DDA's are up to. I have enjoyed looking at them so much that I have dared to make a few of my own. I would post, but I don't have a photobucket account.
Actually they aren't even T shirt designs per se, but rather I "scraplifted" N&Js Mom leave a card for the kids each day idea and started making those.
Since I don't have a fancy program I have just been using Word and inserting Word Art for the text so I can get the cool patterns, inserting a "text box" for the background of my designs and inserting a photo (from the many wonderful sites you have listed) and fading it down.
It's been a lot of fun- no wonder you are addicted!

Do you notice a distinctive white edge around the design or in the middle (i.e. between the graphic and the words) when you do this on the white T's?

The one time I used the paper for dark on a white shirt I had a user error. :teeth: I didn't cut out the design. I figured it had a white background and the shirt was white so why bother. Well, because the transfer paper and the special overlay paper are the same size, the overlay paper didn't really cover the edges of the tranfer paper. So the edges of the transfer paper got too hot and melted on one side... thus getting a bit bumpy. In the future, I guess I should trim the design down a smidge before ironing. There wasn't any more of a distinctive edge around the rest of the paper than there is when you use it on a dark shirt. BTW, I use HP paper.
I am afraid that with the light paper that all white areas (like the clouds in the Jen & Berry's design below) would come out the color of the shirt not white. Is this a correct assumption? Is there something I can do to the design first to ensure the white areas stay white?

Thanks, I'll have to try that again. It didn't seem to want to work for me before. But sometimes when you get a little more knowledge, things that didn't work before all of a sudden "click" and you can do it.
Congratualtions on your 1000th post!!!
Edited to add: This was my 1000th post!!
I have The PrintShop 11.0 and you can get rid of the backgrounds, Once you import your clipart or photo select effects from the top menu. Then chose crop and orientation. There is a freehand crop option. You then have to make a series of clicks (leaving dots) around the image. Once you completely go around the object the dots will magically connect and then you select cut it. If you are happy with it select ok and the background will be gone.

I had to fly once when I was "almost" over a double ear infection. I used earplanes and had no problems flying. I think they're great! I don't have a problem with my ears when I fly normally, but with a cold or any stopping up of the ears, I use the ear planes.

It can be even easier than that! Just save them on a disk and take them to your local copy center (Kinko's, Staples, Office Depot....) and get them to print them out for you! No need to pay shipping and the excruciating wait of the mail!

Hi,
That would be me :) . I saved the designs here that I liked on my computer as JPGs. Then I have a program called Printshop Ensemble III-old program. I click new project, pick signs & posters pick which direction I want the page. Then I go 1 at a time and import the pictures into the page I am working on. There I can resize them and I usally fit 4 on a page. Then all i did was print and cut out-worked great. I can't do anything fancy with this program but it worked great for this application.

Okay I'm trying to figure out what to do with all these great designs. So has anyone tried putting these on hats. Baseball style preferablly. Was thinking of doing Julia & nick's mom princess with the crown and either princess mom or queen mommy. Would only do queen mommy if my DH wore the King Daddy.
Julia and Nicks mom could you change the King daddy to princess daddy and Princess mom to princess mommy.
TIA
of course you can do this after you get back from WDW if you need to.

I have a request - and thought maybe one of you might be able to help me
I would love a AAA diamond parking pass - but can't book with AAA b/c I am a DVC member
does anyone here have one that they are done with and would be willing to let me borrow for my trip - I would be more than happy to return it to you when I get home!
Thanks!!!
It used to be that if you purchased anything "Disney-related" at our AAA office you could ask for a AAA Diamond Parking Pass. Seems now that they are directly conected to Disney packages purchased through AAA. The last time I asked about one (a year ago?) I was told that they are also dated. I have a very good relationship with my AAA TAs and Auto Travel people, so unless things have changed in the past few months, I think this is going to be a hard thing to get to you, J&Ns Mom :confused3 For all you have done for all of us I wish I could help!! sorry :sad2: :sad1:

Hi,
My 2 cents on this.
1. Do it in stages. I worked with a friend. I got all the shirts washed(inside out)-no fabric softner or fabric softner sheets.
2. Removed from dryer right away.
3. Friend took them home and ironed them inside out during the week.
4. Meanwhile during the week I printed all the designs on DARK transfer paper-HP. I took my time. fed 1 sheet at a time into my printer-printed on best quality. I did not mess any up :) Let them air dry throughly.
5. Friend took transfers and carefully cut them out-take your time as this step is VERY important-I wanted no white where it did not belong.
6. Big day! Friend came to my house. I have a kitchen island on wheels-it is wood. I put a sheet doubled-2 thickness on it. We let iron heat throughly. We carefully laid transfer down. I used a ruler to figure how far from neck and to help center transfer-once again take your time.
7. Friend ironed them. First very lightly then with hard firm pressure. Was great using a smooth wood surface. We set shirt with transfer paper still on aside to cool then we did next shirt. When that one was done we peeled the paper off the cooled shirt. PERFECT! we never had to touch up iron anything and all edges were on good. Took us about 1 1/2 hours to iron on all transfers on 16 shirts.
8. Showed kids and then took pictures for you all to see.
It REALLY helped to have someone work with me. We still have a few more to do and then that is it for this trip.
THANKS TO ALL THE DESIGNERS!!!! :cheer2: :grouphug:

Hi,
Now a challange for the designers. We are doing the Magic behind the steam engines tour one morning in Magic Kingdom. Us 2 moms will wear our happiest celebration shirts. I think it would be neat for the boys to have something train related with Mickey or Walt to wear for this tour. They are 12 so not too kiddy and a border around it to make it easy to cut out. I know Walt was a train fanatic and even maybe a pic with him with a train if such a thing exsists. I will search google for pictures.
Thanks,

Will they print on transfer paper? I wasn't sure about that part.
Some will, some won't. But you know what...I just remembered that the transfer paper specifically says for INKJET printers and copiers aren't inkjet. But I was thinking Kinkos....and they have computer stations, too....so I'd just print it there. Best bet would be to call and ask, I guess, before planning on it!
On a related topic, I found some transfer paper that's made specifically to use in color copiers. It's loads cheaper (but is only for white/light shirts) but it's sold with a disclaimer to call your local copy center to ask before assuming they will use it....

I have a suggestion for all the designers. What if we were to put some keywords at the bottoms of our posts of designs so that when someone searches for a design it will be easier to find?
Example:
http://www.jadespider.com/wip/tshirts/incredibles.jpg
Keywords: "Having an Incredible Time" the Incredibles Family, red, Incredibles logo
I have a reguest. My twins have worn out their Incredibles t-shirt that just had the Incredibles "I" on the front, like the background of this shirt. Is their a way to take the Incredible's off and just leave the incredibles symbol "I".
Their dad has already bought Incredible masks for them and would love for them to have a shirt too, to wear when they meet the Incredibles. Thanks for you help.

I really love reading this thread and seeing all the designs. I wanted to be able to see them all the time so I saved all my favorites to a new file and set it to run as my screen saver. Now whenever I'm not using my computer your designs are constantly changing on the screen. I LOVE it and so does DD and my little GS.
You all may remember lightning striking my house and frying alot of things, well, we had to get a new computer. I didn't really know what it was but the new one has Lightscribe on it. This lets you burn a picture onto a recordable disk. I'm using Disney designs on these too whenever I can. They are beautiful.
Thanks again for all your wonderful work. I'm sure we will all continue to find new ways to enjoy them. :disrocks:

BUMMER! I knew there weren't any AC Moore's VERY close to here, as I had never heard of them..... but I just checked, and the neartest is West Virginia (187.4 miles from me, to be exact!) :)
I was willing to drive a little bit, seeing as Michael's only has like 6 colors and are twice as expensive!
Anyone with a JoAnn's Fabrics nearby know if they sell blank shirts, too? I'm going to Hobby Lobby today but if I remember correctly their selection isn't much more than Michael's, and they CERTAINLY don't have anything but short sleeve t's.

Also, for those of you that have received your shirts already, how are the colors in comparison to the pictures? I would love to be able to take designs to somewhere like AC Moore and see them in person, but - as mentioned above - I don't think that's gonna be possible! From, say, blanktshirtstore.com and cheapestees.com are you getting what you expect to match your designs?

The shirt site N&J Mom posted is www.blankshirtstore.com.
They are much cheaper than cheep tees (same stuff too) but the shipping and handling is a flat $12.40.
Another question for those who have worn and washed their shirts- how are they holding up? I have been thinking about making some extra to wear to bed (not just on the trip but once were back too). Not sure I want to waste my time if they can only make it through 2 or 3 washes....

What I cannot do is make the background transparent! I have tried and tried and cannot seem to make that happen. What I want to do is overlay it on Kate's Spaceship Earth / Wineglass F&W T-shirt design (in place of the logo that is on there already.

I want to put it on a black T-shirt or jacket so the logo has to overlay without changing the color of the picture. I sure hope I explained myself well!!

http://www.wdwinfo.com/photopost/data/500/28340Vac_Epcot_logo-thumb.jpg
What I cannot do is make the background transparent! I have tried and tried and cannot seem to make that happen. What I want to do is overlay it on Kate's Spaceship Earth / Wineglass F&W T-shirt design (in place of the logo that is on there already.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b148/DisneyTShirts/foodandwinne.jpg
I want to put it on a black T-shirt or jacket so the logo has to overlay without changing the color of the picture. I sure hope I explained myself well!!
Any help would be much appreciated
Email me both as big as you can. I'll fix it for you. The first logo is so small, I'm having trouble seeing the difference between your's and kate's. So, do you want the black removed from Spaceship Earth or the logo transparent?

You are so kind! But, as I make the F&W logos bigger they become more and more "pixilated" and no matter how much time I spend on them it is not cleaning up either version very well. This being the case I am rethinking my use of this on a black T-shirt and thinking possibly about cream colored so that the background color of the word "EPCOT" won't matter.
So, unless you have a magic way to clean up the logo that is already on Kate's design I think I will work on it a little more myself and use it as it is in her original, which I have loved from the beginning.
With triplets I have no idea how you do all you do. I am a music/piano teacher and spend 8-10 hours a day 6 days a week with 3-18 year olds and I admire you for your energy!

If anyone has Illustrator or FreeHand they could retrace the logo and make it vector/scalable so that it could be made as large as you like without pixelization. That's what I did for the Mickey Mouse Club logo.

Hi,
THANKS!!
The boys loved this one. I don't have a good program like photoshop :confused3 but I may try to clean it up a bit. I would like to to have the rest of the word Disney the same color as the D. Also not sure of the smaller version on the castle- think I would like to remove that if I can figure it out and just leave the larger Walt version. The boys said they want these made for the tour.
Thanks again.

I am working with very primitive tools (Paint and Word) so it is taking me forever to do some of this stuff. Thank goodness I am done teaching for the weekend :rotfl:
Anyway... here is what I did:
http://www.wdwinfo.com/photopost/data/500/28340foodwineredo1.JPG
To get the cleaner logo at the bottom of Kate's design, I erased the entire two lines of words and redid a text box in Word. Then I pasted it back into Paint on top of Kate's picture and spent WAAAAY too many hours cleaning it all up pixel by pixel!!!
I am looking forward to seeing how it looks on a shirt now.
I don't have an answer for Cinderumbrella, though... :confused3

Hi Paul,
THANK YOU!!!
My son is standing here and if you won't kill me he has a couple of requests. Can you fix the name of the tour to read
Disney's The Magic Behind Our Steam Trains Tour
This is the actual name of the tour.
He loved the addtion of the wording Railroad story.
1 other request he has is are you able to outline the rest of " Walt Disney's lettering in the whitish color so they stand out and if not can they be made the color of the outline on the D
Can you remove Mickey Please.
This would be greatly appreciated by Travis who is 12 and will wear this on the tour and I will post a picture when the shirt is done.
Many Many Thanks!!!

Don't feel guilty removing mickey as at 12 you are borderline if you want Mickey on your shirt. :confused3
Now I know I am a pain :guilty: He wonders about the letters alt in walt and isney in disney, He thinks they get lost in the gold swirl as they are the same color. Would you mind 1 more change and try the letters I mentioned in the color that out lines the D- cream/white whatever it is. He saw the original picture someone posted from the book cover and the words were that way. I PROMISE not to bother you again  and I am sorry he is a pain :rolleyes1

Hey Everyone :wave2: ,
I haven't checked in on this thread for awhile, but I'm headed for WDW in less than a week and a few weeks ago I was working on a villians themed wanted shirt and I got stuck and never went back to it, but my tonight my friend showed me how to actually use Photoshop elements so I thought I would post the shirt and see what you guys thought. Here are my questions:
1. Does it feel balanced to you? All of the villians seem to have a lot black on them so I had trouble deciding where to place everyone.
2. Are the villians on the right side not to scale enough with those on the left?
3. I had started with a wanted poster theme and got an awesome Western theme font thanks to julia and nicks mom, but I don't know what the shirt should say other than, "wanted" any ideas?
4. Are there any other villians I should add/or remove from the shirt?
Thank-you for all of your help and inspiration :goodvibes

I'm sooooo glad I found this board/site... it has given me SOOOO much info so far. I wanted to make matching t-shirts for DH and me for our trip in October...I know DH probably won't wear his :rolleyes1 but at least I can have fun designing them. I've read up to page 30 and still have a LOT of reading to do :earsboy: but I'll get there. I would love if someone could give me some ideas for our trip. We have about 20 days left... I went out over the weekend and bought a rit dye kit (didn't read on here how you shouldn't use rit LOL) and tried my first one last night... as predicted, it didn't come out very bright.. but there's a mickey on it... so it did ok.... waiting for DH to come home and give his opinion on if he'll wear it LOL... Anyway.......... wondering if anyone can help me come up with some ideas for my shirts... I've ordered one off of Zazzle with stitch (my fav) on the back.. and have found some clipart for the front (Stitch over a map of "the world" with "All I want for my birthday is... the world) now I would love it if someone could come up with some other sayings for a few more t-shirts.. I would love some imput.. This will be our 3rd trip down... and my 26th b-day and dh's 27th. Thanks.... Also (this is becoming quite long!!!) does anyone know how to use Photoshop Elements? I downloaded it last night, but just seems very complicated to use!!!
Thanks!!!

So I finally tried my hand at doing my iron on transfers and I was disappointed...They all seemed to be crackly...But I followed all the directions....I prewashed shirts inside out, dried them no fabric softener, put the transfers on right and definitely ironed them long enough and they still just did not turn out right :( I used Fruit of the Loom plain white T's and Avery light shirt transfer paper. Anyone have any idea why they would still come out crackly? I think rather than try it again ourselves we may take them to a shop....my bf found one that said if we print the transfers they could press them for us and they have tshirts there. They can't print on their transfers bc of copyright issues w/ Disney. I think they said it would only be about $7 a shirt, which is cheap bc it includes the shirt. Anyway since either way I decide to go, is there better transfers than the Avery ones that anyone would reccomend or did those work for you? I know this has been asked before but this thread just gets bigger and bigger everyday. :sunny:

Sage advise dear DDA,s.... :cool1:
I will not go from ironing light shirts to ironing dark shirts again. My mind gets twisted...
I was ironing on my Port Orleans transfer. Used a ruler. Placed it just right. :goodvibes Ironed for a good 3 or 4 minutes. Excitedly told tinker1bell, this is beautiful!! Held up the shirt and the transfer slid to the floor. I had perfectly ironed the transfer to the backing. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I really don't know when we have had so much fun. :cloud9:
Another tip. Be sure to trim the dark transfers. tinker1bell did such a good job of trimming, if only I had ironed the transfer onto the shirt..... :rolleyes1

You do not need to turn them inside out when you prewash them before ironing on the transfer. It's VERY important to turn them inside out to wash them AFTER you put on the transfer.

HELP!
Has anyone had their pictures print out blurry? I'm printing mine now on regular paper to decide which shirts to use and the two designs I've printed are not sharp looking like the picture shows up. I used the best printing quality, should I be doing something else? There is another choice, maximum dpi and it says a photo cartridge will enhance the picture even more, but I don't know if this is true for a transfer instead of a digital print. I do have a photo cartridge.

Yes, I am. Now I teach the prenatal classes for twins and triplets. It's a lot of fun!
Wish I had been to one before my twins were born. Those first few months are still a blur to me. I love my twins, though and can't imagine life without them. We just got back from Disneyland with them and they had an awesome time! They loved everything, and so many CM's showered us with pixie dust, so it made our trip even more enjoyable.

Hopefully you guys can help me out here...
Somewhere in the clip art following the links off of the first post on the Design Tips thread, I came across clip art of a purple castle. I think it was probably grouped together with Cinderella somewhere.
Well now I am searching for it and I can't come accross it! It's driving me nuts! :badpc:
Anyone recall seeing it and have any idea where?
I know it's a major longshot, but I figure someone may have seen it!

ooooohhhh... thanks Tinker1bell! That sounds good! I will attempt to brave the crowds tonight and get them! I was hoping to go out and look around this morning, but DS (age 2) isn't feeling well today. Thanks again for the tip!
Does anyone have any suggestions for finding 2T/3T or XXS size plain shirts? The ones I've seen have a pocket on the front (TRU). The last time I checked Target they were all striped or had some design already. Michaels didn't go that small. I will also check Walmart for that tonight, but wondered if anyone had any other ideas? Thanks again!!! :flower:
Our local craft shop (Robert's) has a whole bunch of T shirts that range in size from 2-4 to XXL. I got shirts for all my kids there. My twins are 3 but they are a small 3, so the 2-4 fit them a little big. They looked so cute with the designs printed on them, though.

Has anyone used a shirt with spandex in it? The shirt I'm thinking of using is 95% cotton and 5% spandex.

Just my 2 cents on this topic. I went to Kinko's to see if they could print my transfers for me, and was told that the transfers wouldn't work with the type of ink they use. They would run (possibly oil based - can't really remember what she said). Anyway, she said I could give her the design on the disk and they could do it for me for 9 dollars a sheet. I didn't think that was such a good deal, so I ended up doing it on my own. Mine turned out ok, though and were a HUGE hit at Disneyland.

I've used shirts with Spandex. I've bought the Mossimo brand of t-shirts at Target. They wash okay and the transfer works on it fine. Just be careful with ironing. Don't keep the iron in one place too long on the shirt. I washed, then ironed the shirt (in the area where I was going to put the design), let that cool, then laid out the design and ironed it on.
Also, past experience with stretch tees tells me not to dry them completely in the dryer. I just get the moisture out, then lay them flat to dry.

I have a problem. My dh bought a shirt the last time we were at WDW. This is the design that is on the back of the shirt.
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a240/my3princes/grumpy1web.jpg
He wants to wear this shirt while on our trip. I am trying to keep us all in matching shirts so I came up with the idea of making similar shirts for me and the boys. I want to change the dwarf and the wording, but keep the overall design the same. I have been trying for hours to either create a similar design from scratch using Printshop (it doesn't allow me to create the same shapes) or separating the design into layers so that I could change the dwarf picture and wording using photoshop elements, but I could not figure it out. If anyone wants to take on this challenge I would so appreciate it. My dh is a Mechanic by trade and a car junkie as a hobby so he would love to have us all in the shirts. Here is what we came up with:
First shirt:
Change Grumpy to Happy, We would use "Happy's Homemade Hotrod's" as the "business" name. Replace Service without a smile with "Service with a smile" and change the bottom wording to "Bring me your junk - I'll add a little Spunk" (could put a hotrod image where the car image is, but not necessary)
Second shirt:
Change Grumpy to Dopey. Use "Dopey's Demolishion Derby" as the "business" name. Replace Service without a smile with "Smash and Crash for Cash". And replace the bottom wording with "When you car's near done you can still have some fun"
Third shirt:
Change Grumpy to Bashful. Use "Bashful's Beautiful Auto Bodies" as the "business" name. Replace Service without a smile with "we add style with a smile" and replace the bottom wording with "Fender to Fender It's great service we Render"
Forth shirt:
Change Grumpy to Sleepy. Use "Sleepy's Stylish Auto Interiors" as the "business" name. Replace Service without a smile with "Sometimes style takes a while" and replace the bottom wording with "We will not rest until your interior looks it's best".
I liked the dwarf images on http://www.greeting-cards-4u.com/pl...0003Disney.html
I know that this is a huge order for someone and I understand if no one has time. Sorry that the image is not horizontal, but it was the only way I could get it to scan on my scanner.
Thanks a million.

:sunny:
I used HP for dark shirts, but used it on a white shirt and it worked fine. Bought the paper in the computer section at Target.

I read this thread all weekend, except while at church. (God forgive me, cuz I was still thinking about it.) My BF made fun of me for not moving out of my recliner. Great stuff. I've been so inspired.
Now, I saw a clip of Minnie Mouse in a Hula skirt. I've been able to find small clipart, but nothing big enough for a shirt. Anyone know where I can find one?
Julia & Nicks Mom was very kind and sent me a hawaiian border.
I'd like to make a shirt with a line of hawaiian flowers going across the middle with Hula Minnie centered. Something for our Polynesian Dinner show. It's the event we are kicking our 7 day trip off with. I have 2 daughters, so I was thinking the Polynesian Princess would be cute.
Any suggestions?

Ok, no takers on my request from yesterday so I thought that I'd download PhotoImpact and give it a try myself. I started downloading, but with my dialup connection it was going to take 10 hrs and 45 min to download so I guess that is out. Is there any good deals on PhotoImpact now and how hard is it to learn. I know Printshop well, but my version is older and has many limitations. I have Photoshop elements, but I really don't know how to use it and don't have a manual as it came with my scanner. I'm up for any suggestions.

Maybe the words on the pumpkin (or under the characters) could be changed to Happy Halloween.

I'LL look.
I'll be back to let you know.

Too Cute! My kids LOVE the Heffalump movie and are so excited to get the Halloween one. BTW, did I mention that we decorated the entire house on Saturday for
HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????????????
Yes, I'm a Halloween addict too! Complete with inflatable monster, spiders and webs in the bathroom (which I had to remove because my kids were too scared to go potty- not a good idea with triplets! :rotfl: ), pumpkins, scarecrows...

Thank-you to all for the feedback on my design! I love the idea of adding photos and I did put a Chernabog in one for Pooh 67_68. Also midnite than-you for the text ideas...I'm just trying to decide where to place the text lol.
Is it just me or for some reason I keep tweaking the design...I have gone through about 10 different versions of it since Sat night. Anyone else ever have this issue?

I believe Julia and Nick's mom did the Playhouse Disney. Well my grandson didn't want to take it off. Pictures are coming as soon as I find my usb cable. No still haven't found it. Did locate the power adapter, so the camera is charging as I type.
I also think you did the it's my birthday and all I want is the world. Well, I wore that to work today. It was a blast. :cloud9:
Momof2oh, I know you did the Even Mickey loves the Eagles. I had that on the back of my birthday one. That got raves!!! :cloud9: :cheer2: :cheer2:
Can't wait to get my camera connected. I have to post pictures. My son-in-law can't wait for his missing Monday night football shirt. He saw the transfer and fell in love. He loves tshirts.
Well, if I keep getting the response when I'm in Disney in 4 days :hourglass that I've gotten at home, it will be a blast.
So far my transfers still look great. I didn't wash the shirts first and I'm not washing them until after my trip. They really look just wonderful. I really mean it. Just wonderful. Can't wait to find the cable for my camera. :cheer2:
I can't thank you all enough.

Deb
Wow Deb they are AMAZING ideas for shirts - I'd offer to help but I'm not quite good enough with Photo impact yet.
One thing I can help with though - if someone makes these tees for Deb can you do away with the apostrophe here: "We will not rest until your interior looks it's best".
Sorry I'm a copy editor and these things tend to jump out at me

Did you turn them inside out before you washed them?
Did you try putting the overlay back on and ironing them again? Sometimes that will help with the cracks.
I hope that you can save them. I feel really bad for you.
I haven't made my shirts yet so this my be a silly question but if we wash them before we transfer (to get rid of any stain resist etc) why do we have to wash them again after the transfer?? Surely they're still clean?

They're not stencils.DS Erich has a bunch of Disney coloring books.I found different pictures of each of the Fab 5 about the same size.I traced them onto computer or typing paper, whatever you call it.Then I cut those out and then traced around them onto the mailbox. ::MickeyMo
:rotfl: I clicked on your mailbox link to have a look at later when I finished reading this thread, and I was getting more confused by the minute - when you said mailbox I instantly thought email - and then when you said about tracing colouring books I thought what on earth is going on... then the penny dropped! We don't have many "mailboxes" in England - usually just a hole in the door for the postman to put the letters through!! :goodvibes :rotfl:

Ok, no takers on my request from yesterday so I thought that I'd download PhotoImpact and give it a try myself. I started downloading, but with my dialup connection it was going to take 10 hrs and 45 min to download so I guess that is out. Is there any good deals on PhotoImpact now and how hard is it to learn. I know Printshop well, but my version is older and has many limitations. I have Photoshop elements, but I really don't know how to use it and don't have a manual as it came with my scanner. I'm up for any suggestions.
Deb
Deb,
I have also had the same trouble with PS Elements... I downloaded it from the Adobe website.. but it came with no users guide or anything.. so I did a search on Yahoo and found a website that has free video tips and free tutorials.. as well as a newsletter that gets sent out every month but that costs about $50 a year!! I'm thinking about getting it though.. I really want to be able to do stuff like some of the tallented people on here do.. esp since I just spent all that mone on the program to begin with!!! I can help out a bit.. I'm learning as I go :rolleyes1 .. but starting to understand layering!!

I have a t-shirt request.. I actually sent it out a few days ago in a REALLY long "intro" e-mail LOL.. and was not very specific .... but I was wondering if one of you could come up with a stitch halloween deisgn for me... we're going to MNSSHP on Oct 11... my B-day is Oct 12 and DH's is Oct 16th.. so I'd love to have those thrown in there.. maybe something like Dylan and Christy's Halloween Birthday Bash Oct 2005.... who knows... I'd love to see what you guys can come up with.. I'm playing around in Photoshop.. but havne't come up with anything nearly of the quality you guys have yet. Another question... is there any way to edit something that I downloaded off the internet in Photoshop.... such as one of the designs here that I want to put our names in.... Trying to figure out how to do that.. does anyone know??

I think what we are learning from all the cracking after washing/drying is after you make your shirts, DO NOT wash them again until after your WDW trip. This way they will still be in good shape for your vacation and then after if they fall apart, who cares??

Quick question... I just finished my first shirt attempt in PS Elements... actually I stole someone else's from here and tweaked it a bit (can't remember who the original artist was.. but it has the castle w/ tink on a blue background w/ a "clear glass" mickey head with a pic of the castle and mickey and minnie on it) I'd love to post a pic of it on here to show you guys.. but how do I post images? Can't get it to work.

I've seen a few people post that they are having trouble with their designs cracking after washing. We made several shirts last year and they have been worn 20+ times with no cracking. The larger ones were done with the Avery for light shirts. We did some navy blue shirts with a small design on the shoulder/breast area that also have not cracked. While making shirts for this trip I did a tye dye one for my ds2 and put a design on the front using the Avery Dark T-shirt Transfers. I didn't really like the design on the Tye Dye shirt so I've been letting him wear it around home. He loves it and I have washed it at least 5 times with no cracking. We tye dyed the shirts, rinsed them, washed them with tide and completely dried them in the dryer. I applied the design following the instructions on the Avery package. I washed it inside out by itself after he wore it the first time and completely dried it in the dryer. Since then it goes in with the regular wash. I wash everything on hot and dry everything completey in the dryer. The T-shirt that I used this year was one of the Fruit of the Loom undershirts that come in a 3 pack at Walmart for 3.73. The Tye Dye colors still look great (kit came from Walmart also) and the designs are also holding up well. I wonder if the laundry detergent you use has anything to do with it? I use Tide with Downy in it and no problems here. I hope this might help someone from having potential problems.
Deb
Oh yeah, I ironed my shirts on my craft table (got mine at Ames years ago, but have seen them at JoAnn's) with a pillow case doubled up between the shirt and table.

Just wanted to say that I LOVE this "garage" design! You did a great job! :)
I have to say I'm a little disappointed to hear so many people are having problems with the shirts after washing them. :( Unfortunately for me, the answer cannot be -- just wait til your home from WDW to wash it. What a waste! And a shame. :(
I'm wondering what transfer paper member are using that they are having difficulties with. I have never had the opportunity to use the dark t-shirt transfer paper, but I have used Avery's light and have had excellent reults that LAST.
If I go through this effort of making shirts for everyne, I want the shirts to be able to be a memory / souvenier by themselves. KWIM?
Has anyone used that paper you found on Ebay yet? I would like to know how well that works. I missed out on ordering ... but I owuld stil like to know the results.
Thanks!

Thanks for the responses about my shirts. It was DH's idea to wash them again before we wore them....he didn't like the way the transfers felt & thought it would do away with the slick feeling of the shirt. OH well........I learned my lesson. I followed the directions & turned them inside out etc. I can't believe they don't hold up better than that. I called my friend who I had made transfers for & told her whatever she did not to wash & dry the shirts until she wore them on their trip. I hadn't washed my SO THIS IS LOVE shirt yet, so I still have that one to wear. :goodvibes
My transfers were Avery brand. Anybody else wash & dry their shirts successfully without damage & if so what brand were your transfers?

Disneygirl36-I have encountered the same problem on SOME of my homemade shirts and not all of them. And what I don't understand is that I followed the SAME directions when it came to transfer application, washing them prior to ironing on transfer and washing them inside out and hanging them to dry. Still some cracked and some did not. I've used the same brand of t shirts, all white, no colors. I even tried to re-iron, but it didn't do any good. I have not washed any of our trip shirts, so I know they'll look nice while we're there. Oh yeah, and I used Avery transfer paper for each shirt, too. It seems that the darker colored transfer crack easier.

Hi Disneygrl36!
I used 50/50 poly/cotton blend tees from AC Moore. The transfer paper I used was Burlington/Printworks for light & also the one for dark shirts. I washed them first, dried them (air) & then did the transfer. I let the transfer sit at least 30 minutes (per the directions) for the design to set. I used the highest setting on my iron - linen (My iron has never been used so much before! ) I ironed 1 more minute than the directions said just to be sure. All the shirts I did came out very well (to my surprise!) & I have not washed them & will not until after our trip (which is in 10 days! :Pinkbounc ).
The very first shirt I did was a white tee with a Stitch design for my oldest DD. My color cartridge was running out of ink & I didn't like how faded it looked so I gave it to her to wear as a P.J. top...well, she wears it every night & it has been washed at least 20 times since then & it has held up very well. No cracking & it has become softer. (Goes in regular wash on warm & I air dry on a hanger). I think the white shirts don't crack as much. It's more of a possibilty with the dark because the transfers are more like a big sticker on the shirt & seems thicker..I am afraid to fold them to pack them for fear of cracking..the white transfers seem to become more part of the shirt than the dark transfers do.

I used photoshop. Pasted your image into a layer and erased the background. Then I re-outlined everything and recolored to make the base design without the words and dwarf. (This is what takes the most time, I have to zoom in on the image and erase some of the background that wasnt erased automatically and carefully trace it with the paintbrush to make the outline and recolor.)
Once that was done, I now have a good base image that I can add anything to. I will work on the other 3 for you. :flower:

Brendita & Moonbeams--
Thank you all so much for helping find Lumpy designs! I LOVE them! Brendita, could you send me the one of Lumpy pulling Pooh & pals with his trunk? I don't know what it should say--we are leaving in a week & 3 days (there's just me & DH), and I thought it would be cute to say something about our trip, but I'm just not in a creative way today! :goodvibes I also LOVE  the Halloween one! Would you please send it to me? I don't know how to do that--could you put it as one of your designs on the design page so I could get to it? I am very techno-illiterate when it comes to this sort of thing, so just let me know what way is best!
Thanks again! BTW, do the person who said they decorated their entire house for Halloween this weekend--THAT'S AWESOME! I am trying to get DH to pull down the Halloween box this evening! Wish me luck! :teeth:

Hopefully you guys can help me out here...
Somewhere in the clip art following the links off of the first post on the Design Tips thread, I came across clip art of a purple castle. I think it was probably grouped together with Cinderella somewhere.
Well now I am searching for it and I can't come accross it! It's driving me nuts! :badpc:
Anyone recall seeing it and have any idea where?
I know it's a major longshot, but I figure someone may have seen it!
Thanks,
