Thanks for asking about the salon thing for me.
I didn't add that my neighbours behind me were partying loudly until 3:40 a.m. and because I had my bedroom window open had no sleep until I closed the window in frustration, dozed off to sleep only to be awoken by one of my lovelies.
The weather today is going be beauitiful here - summer like- perfect for a Charity Run - I walk - no running for me.
We live just outside of Toronto (20 min) to downtown and perhaps we will have clear sky's at the lake- minus the Toronto Fog.
Have a good day and good luck with phoning Disney.
I and my dh would be interested in joining the DIS group for Palo Brunch so if there is room, please add us to the group.
Thanks again
Denise
Great...please PM me, so I can keep all the info in one folder...thanks

My mom is going to try and get a dive boat in St. Lucia since i called DCL and they said the ressies were gone with the concierge booking...
ST. LUCIA DIVING
Anybody wanting to join the boat my mom is going to reserve should send me their name, and PADI dive card number (a photocopy through email (both sides) would be awesome!)...
KEY WEST DIVING
Anybody wanting to dive in Key West on a 2 tank afternoon dive should send me their name, and PADI dive card number (a photocopy through email (both sides) would be awesome!)...

I just spoke to someone with DCL about the dive excursions. He couldn't see them either. He suggested I call back tomorrow when the excursion manager will be in. He said it is possible they haven't opened them up yet due to contracts with the outside vendors or many other reasons. Anyway, I will call back tomorrow and let you all know what I find out.

Hi again
This is a bit off the beatin path - but I thought I would ask for some advice.
Does anyone know where to get some Disney items - small in size to fit into a small stocking?? I run a Charity event here as a volunteer on December 2, 2006 for underpriviledged children who come to a "breakfast with Santa" - It's about a 2 hour drive for me to Buffalo so I could go and pick up stuff at the stores there. Last year I had 148 children and their parent/caregivers come for breakfast, each recieved a gift, colouring book etc. As everything is based on donations I need to keep the costs very minimal. I would like to make peronalized stockings for each child with some small treats in it which they would get upon sitting down at the table.
I have a Santa to give out gifts and Belle is coming to sign autographs and sing. So before the Cruise I still have to wrap all those gifts and organize the event. The look on these children's faces are priceless and really brings the spirit of Christmas home to me.
I know that I'll be running around like a crazy person just prior to this, and going on our trip will be a well deserved break.
I was also going to ask the person who is making the stockings for the cruise if there is a pattern that she uses or can point me into the right direction in finding one.
Thanks for any information and sorry for asking an unrelated question on this forum.

Right now Target has a lot of Disney Princess and Pooh stuff in the dollar bins at the front of the stores. I checked ours out today and they had journals, mechanical pencils, pencils with stampers on top, stickers, magnets, sticky notes, etc. Each package was $1. You might be able to find something there.

*sigh* I was waiting for a more positive answer to post. But the outlook doesn't look so good. My parents sent an e-mail and got some kind of bogus reply but I guess the coach said he'd talk to Hayley. Ultimately it came down to that it was Hayley's decision. The last I heard from Holly was that Hayley had said just go without her. I think Holly may have said something about we were considering going without her, but I highly doubt that would ever be something we would do. An option that was proposed as an alternative to the cruise was us going to Atlantis (on Nassau) at the end of December. I'm not 100% sure what the final decision is, but I think it's very close to a no cruise for us. :guilty: :sad2:
And I was so looking forward to horseback riding on St. Lucia. :(

Kat, Dobelover had to cancel the cruise. She sent me a message a while ago to tell me she and her Mom had to pull out of the Palo Brunch Room meet.
ETA: They did not have to cancel for health reasons. Last I spoke with her, they were both doing fine.
Can't speak for the rest of the crowd you have listed though :confused3 .
Come on guys...chime on in and grab a stocking so you can hang them on your fish-mail hook and get all kinds of special surprises from your fellow DISers throughout the cruise :teeth: .
Hey, are you making a list of what cabins/DISers will have stockings hanging? That is something that the kids would get a kick out of doing....going around and putting special things in the stockings on their parent's request, of course. They can be like our errand girls/boys :thumbsup2
Kat, are we still using the cable ties to secure them to the fish hook. If so, I would be happy to keep an eye for them. You can usually find them cheap at the dollar stores around here.

Yes it will be very sad. And it's not like it's in her coach's hands anymore. It's her choice right now, and she's saying go without her. Holly said that she is trying to see where swimming will take her this year. But sadly since she's a senior it can't really take her anywhere.
I guess the last day to cancel is October 2 so I will let you guys know the final decision then.

I'm thinking that the answer Kat got from DCL onthe diving is probably more acurate than what you go Jen. But those mixed responses are also classic for DCL...Don't give up yet!

Denise, I don't know how set you are on them being Disney items, but when I do stuff like this I start by cold calling area busineses that may be able to donate...Walmarts, Targets and stores like that. All the big ones have community relations depts. and most time it is just a matter of filling out paperwork on your charity for their accounting/inventory records. I am amazed how much is available for donation just for the asking from these big stores. Since they go for the community relations aspect, I would start where your charity is being held.
Also, I would think that Oriental Trading should have the stockings you describe at a very reasonable price.
Post on the "budget board" requesting a "free shipping" code when you are close to ordering. They usually always have one out there.

Hi again
No need to buy the cable ties - DH can get tons at work. The choice is clear/white ones or black ones either from 4 inches to a foot long. Just let me know how many you need and which colour and length you think would be best and we would be happy to supply the cable ties.
Also can someone closer to the date of the sailing or after October 2, 2006 please post the approximate number of cabins and/or individulals that are in the cabins so that we can pack the appropriate number of "treats" and/or special items for the trip.
Thank you to all of you with the great suggestions for my Charity Event in December. I will be sure to check them out.

Hello everyone!
Finally got back to this board and have spent several hours trying to catchup on what has been happening. We knew that we could start reserving excursions, Palos, etc. and I had my wife do this at 3 this morning since she can type faster. Wasn't a pretty site when I woke her since I knew this was the only way to get the AM Unicorn trip in St. Lucia. My wife and daughter will be winging it in Key West while I take the thriller powerboat trip, the Riviera Beach in St. Martian, Island tour in Antiqua and Megans Bay in St. Thomas. We still haven't been able to get my wifes spa reservations due to server problems and tonight the site wouldn't pull up our reservation. Our daughter still doesn't know we are cruising for Christmas and will be surprised when we arrive since we are suppose to be going to my brothers for the holidays. We have told her that her next cruise was to Alaska in 2008 since our money tree has been well picked and she thinks we should plant another.

Hi there! Which powerboat ride in Key West did you signe up for? Right now we're signed up for the powerboat ride too, though we might dive instead...
Glad you were able to book last night. Did your DW forgive you this morning? :lmao:
DH and I stayed up to book, but it was only midnight for us, so not as bad. Good thing we did too, because we had a fellow cruiser call us at 1 am to ask US what their ressie # was so they could go online to book. Yikes, good thing we were still up. :badpc:

Only if we can find a way to dive in Antigua too. We decided we don't want to drag dive gear with us for just one dive stop. I am willing to call some dive operators in Antigua if you have an idea of how many people we have diving and the which dive operator(s) are worth it. PM me...the powerboat thing was booked before I knew you had a dive thing in Key West, but we've been diving in St. Thomas (so-so), and don't want to dive in St. Lucia.

okay...if you email me at Agent.Jehtro.Gibbs@gmail.com i can send the dive shops for our port your way. We loved diving in St. Thomas and already did the Brig Unicorn so we want to dive in St. Lucia. Diving in st lucia was gone so we have to make arrangements.

Hi everyone! Just a quick note to let you know what we got.
Monday Palo dinner 6pm,
Tuesday Palo brunch 10:30
Wed (STM) We are doing a pirate snorkel through an outside group that allows the kids to go.
Thurs (St. Lucia) We are going whale watching on a charter. Possibly space if anyone is interested.
Friday (Antigua) I think we are going to a beach. I have heard Turners beach is the place to go. I guess you can see the volcano erupting on Monserrat.
Sat (STT) Magens Beach
Sun Palo brunch on our other room 11
Palo dinner 6 (probably won't keep both) This was all we could get.
On the stocking----I don't know Kat. What are the options again?

Hi, we'll be going on this cruise. I'm Bronwen, DH is David and our dd Morgan (15 - always looking for someone to hang out with) It's our 6th Disney cruise but first on any sort of holiday so we are looking forward to the fun it will bring and we love the idea it's 10 DAYS! So far I've only booked Palo things, brunch on Keywest day and dinner on the first sea day. We're hoping that it won't interfere with pirate night like it did on our last cruise. I called the cruise line but they didn't have the calender for this cruise yet. Booked Mo into the teen thing on Castaway but so far no excursions for us just yet. Having a hard time deciding.

Do we have an approximate number of people and/or number of cabins that are going from the DIS so we may organize what we may bring to put into those stockings as little surprises.

My questions seem endless tonight.
I read somewhere I think on the 2005 X-mas cruise thread about an ornament exchange. Are we doing one? It may have already been discussed and perhaps I missed it. If so, how does this work and is there anyone organizing this.
I would certainly be interested.

As long as people have sent Jen thier info, I guess that would be the best way to keep track of felow DISers and their cabin numbers. Although I know there are people on her cruising list that have not posted on this thread in months/years , and we don't know if the are actually still cruising with us or not :confused3 . But, I think that is the best listing available to give a people count at this point.

We have talked about it from time to time, but I don't think (I could be wrong) that anyone has stepped up to organize an Ornament Exchange Dis Meet.
Last X-mas I went on, we did a Yankee Swap (we called it a pirate swap in honor of the pirate party) and we had a blast!!!

I want to include anyone that wants to be a part of it but if I don't know you are on the list and what your character preference is, I can't include you. Well things keep picking up speed around here. DS starts flag football soon and indoor soccer. We have two PTA events and three Eagle events over the next few weeks. In addition we have practices and committee meetings. I am going to need this vacation. :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:
Just thought I would share. Update on the horse, well it is healing but it is way worse than the initial evaluation. How he missed severing anything vital I do not know. We are still dressing and treating it daily and it will be a very long recovery. But he is in good spirits and the swelling is minimal if any and he is actually trotting and galloping on it at feeding times so who knows. Guess we will leave it in God's hands.
Have a great day all.

alot of things are disappearing of the litss. You can no longer rent Jetskis unless you go on the eco tour at castaway cay. Some of the excursions at St. Maarten are gone and some are added. I got information from the Grand Pineapple Beach on Antigua on their Day Passes for anyone who was interested.
http://www.allegroantigua.com/english/daypass.phtml
Is the link to the site with the day pass info. It is $50 (US) per person + gratuities for the 9a-6p, or $45 per person + gratuities for the 10:30a-6p. Childredn 3-11 are $25 and children 12-15 are $35. Plus there is still transportation to and from. And the ship is supposed to depart at 6:30 so one would definitely want to leave well before 6p to make sure we got back to the ship well on time!
It looks like it is at least a 10-15 or so mile taxi ride and I have no idea what the fares or travel time would be on that.... but it's a start on the info anyway.....

IS ANYONE DOING ANY NON- DISNEY SCUBA EXCURSIONS ON ANTIGUA???
If DH goes off and does something Sam might be into it, but I just don't know yet. I might just wander a bit in port. At this point we are spending an awful lot on excursions so I may have to sit out any big expenses on at least on island.... I will let you know. I contacted DCL this morning. I was told there is a glitch in the online booking system. If you book Palo first it often blocks out other ressies and the is likely what happened with the scuba excursions. They are going to see what they can do and I am supposed to check back on my reservation this afternoon. Hmmmmm. They said there should be a lot more showing as open that what I am seeing, she even looked under my reservation and was very surprised at how little was showing as available and said that was not right. I will let you know what happens.

IS ANYONE DOING ANY NON- DISNEY SCUBA EXCURSIONS ON ANTIGUA???
We are trying to get a ressie booked, but nobody will contact us back. I will give you the numbers if you wanna try Kat. There are 3 shops right in the town we dock at.
and Kat, that sounds like a big excuse that DCL gave you...I ONLY booked shore excursions, and still didn't see anything

Actually, I think this did happen to me......
After I booked Palo's, I could not bring up St Lucia...only Western Ports came up as an option for me. It was really wierd. I had to log out and after I went back in I could see what I was supposed to see :confused3 .
I read about people having trouble booking on-line all the time on the main boards. Hey...I wonder if you posted some of the problems you are having over there, someone might shed a little light with thier own experience????
DCLgodess
09-20-2006, 01:09 PM
that yes i can see that happening...but when you don't book Palo before hand and things still don't show up...then THAt is the excursions either sold out or not existing

I will see if DH wants to try to book Antigua or if he thinks three is enough. I have something booked on St. Maarten for myself and DD and now we get nothing showing up so I can't book for him so I am not sure what to do on that. Maybe call DCL back, I guess.

my parents called from st thomas today. what losers! :rotfl2:
i'm not sure if heidi has posted recently. i've been busy the last several days. but there is a very good chancce we're still coming! hayley has decided that she wants to do the swimming stuff but said we could still go if we wanted. and my mom is leaning more towards it because it now was HER decision to stay. and she pointed out to my mom that she'd only be home a couple days before we got back. she can't come home till the 23rd and we'd get home the 26th. and christmas is kind of just another day. and we can do the whole present shabang on another day. i don't know. we're all (me, heidi, mom and dad) are going to talk about it end of next week while we're at disney cause we have to decide what we want to do before the 2nd. my mom called and asked about if they took 1 off the room but that 1 later decided she wanted to be added what would happen and would she be able to. so i think we're more than likely still going to come! :Pinkbounc

I can't reserve any of the St Lucia excursions because of some site glitch and frankly none of them look all that interesting to me anyway. Anyone been there before and found things they liked to do? Oh this whole excursion thing is driving me nuts! Because Ryan will only be 7 at the time of sailing there are a few things that we wanted to do but you have to be 8. So I guess I will be figuring it out soon. I cannot get the people from Belle Chavel to email me back. When I contacted them before it took a couple of weeks I think. I am wondering if any of you have 8 or 9 year old dd's that are going on the cruise??
My dd is 8 and a little dissapointed that she cannt go to the club with her 4 year old sister who it appears is doing many more "fantasy" fairty tale stuff ie: dosedo with snow white etc. DD8 is worried about being with the big kids.
I thought it may be nice to have some of the children connect prior to the cruise via letters or email - like a pre-cruise pen pal.(Letter writing is a requirement in their grade 3 curriculum also)
So if any of you have dd's who are 8 or 9 years old who would be interested that would be great.

Got Disney -- once we get out of the Bahamas, you can count on swimsuit (or shorts) weather. FL & the Bahamas are hard to call in December. Last time, it was freezing on CC, but Orlando wasn't bad -- a light jacket in the eves was fine, and we actually used the pool at BCV during the day. On the other hand, sailaway day was COLD!
Does that help??? Or am I just confusing you?

No Dee47, you are not confussing me. We have a Beach house an hr away from WDW so know it is cold that time of year in Florida. Mostly in the evenings. How are the Keys that time of year...is it the same as the Bahamas? we live in SanDiego and it is cold here around Christmas. Will the kids need Jeans for the evenings or just fine running around the ship in shorts, as they do in the summer?

last 10 day the hurricanes ripped the nets at CC and so we couldn't swim because there were barecudas (sp?)...i personally don't mind them because i dive with them all the time...but other people may be frightened.

Hi Denise-
My family will also be going on the Holiday Cruise. I have a DD who's 9 (and her sister who's 12) who would love to have a Pen Pal. Unfortunately, since I haven't posted much it will not let me send you a PM. Could you try and send us one? This will be our 2nd cruise.
If anyone else wants to send a PM for my other DD, that would be great!
Thanks-
Eileen

Got Disney -- once we get out of the Bahamas, you can count on swimsuit (or shorts) weather. FL & the Bahamas are hard to call in December. Last time, it was freezing on CC, but Orlando wasn't bad -- a light jacket in the eves was fine, and we actually used the pool at BCV during the day. On the other hand, sailaway day was COLD!
Does that help??? Or am I just confusing you?
Thanks Dee,
We will be staying at WDW, BCV for 5 days prior the cruise. We love it there!!!!

I had an interesting experience in Canada. You may remember that Sam Elliot is one of the guys on my island list. Well, one of the forms of public transportation in Vancouver is the SeaBus that takes you across from Vancouver to North Vancouver. We were coming back Saturday night and I saw this guy two rows away that I swore was Sam Elliot. I think I creeped him out because I kept looking at him. I wasn't completely sure but knew that if I could here him talk I'd know. Well, his cellphone rang and he answered it and sure enough, you can't miss that voice! I think he figured out that I knew who he was, though, because when we got to the dock he hustled out of there so fast!

We have a DS13 (by just a month, though) and DS10 as well. The boys will be on the AM Brig Unicorn and we'll all be on the skyride in St. Thomas.
BTW, if there is anybody with EARLY seating who wants to consider linking reservations for dinner, let's discuss. We're a party of five, (no Jennifer Love Hewitts in the bunch, though). I know some DISers were discussing late seating linking, but since our DD4 will not handle eating that late, we had to go early.

I have wanted to get another horse for awhile but I love horses that are green and of course Michael cant ride a horse like that, even once I brake it in some. Hi all - Hey for those of you that are on the yahoo site too. That reminder about booking was just supposed to come to me. Sorry, I know, no one likes a lot of email.
Well Got Disney - Robin (I love that we have horse people here too)- I have a Big Kicks Hobby Horse son. We showed western and english and barreled and such when we needed the extra points, Quarter Horse, Buckskin, Zone and 4-H. He was the 1988 IBHA Buckskin Reserve World Champion HUS. He has been retired for quite some time. The funny thing is my son had been riding him a bit. He is 24. Very good shape except three weeks ago he put his leg though the neighbors fence 4X4 wire squares not sure how long he was stuck (30 mins - hour behore we got to him) but man he tore up his leg. We have been dressing twice a day. Looks like he is going to make it though this but I had been considering letting my son finish up his supreme championship points. Oh well right now he is sound on the leg but we will see as the wound starts to rebuild skin and tissue. The vet is optimistic so we have our fingers crossed. It seemed like I cried every day for the first two weeks. But now there seems to be some hope.
Here is a crazy coincidence - June I had the issue with my left leg, July, DS crashed his bike and had the rock in his left leg and stitches, Sept horse had his left leg stuck in the fence. So are we done yet!! :confused3

Sorry about your horse, you must have just freaked when you found him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!glad to here that he is sound and healing. Ill say a prayer for him and all the left, left legs in your family including your horses other left.... :)

2 Has anyone eatan at the Rose and Crown or Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki?

Also any recommendations on what is real fun to do there at Chrismas? Have been there many times but not during the xmas holiday? Have checked out the other threads but would like your opinions...

i would def. suggest making reservations as early as possible...everything is so crowded...the Steak restuarant in the Yacht Club is a must....if you love steak go there its amazing....make sure to utilize your fast pass (ride times for test track were always greater than 3 hours for groups and 1.5 hrs for single rider...space mountain was 4+ for groups and 2 for standby)...as far as what do see...make sure to see Illuminations...that's always fun...i don't know what else to say...we just did all our favorite things...

1. We went in 2002 to the CLP and did the dinner pkg. I loved the show and I would highly recommend it, along with doing the Dining Pkg to make the wait a little more bearable. We were going to do it again this year (we are going to WDW after cruising), but while I loved it, DD & DH were so indifferent to the whole thing, I decided to skip it.

Wowsers! Terrific thunderstorms out there tonight and lots of rain! Hmmmm. Have to keep an eye on things.
Got my Crocs primas yesterday. I like them but they will take a little getting used to as they are enclosed so the heels rub a little. I need to warm them a bit and stretch them, I think. They didn't have black in my size so I ordered silver. I do like them. Not fancy dress dressy but definitely dressier than the regular ones. Still waiting to see the themed Disney ones!

We have tickets for MVMCP on the 14th as well. We will arrive at WDW on December 9 and have a few things planned for that week including supper at Cinderella's Castle and some character meals. Another thing we will be doing is the My Disney Princess Tea Party. It is expensive but is a surprise for our little girls. Sure hope it is worthwhile. From what I have read, it sounds like children enjoy it.

i would def. suggest making reservations as early as possible...everything is so crowded...the Steak restuarant in the Yacht Club is a must....if you love steak go there its amazing....make sure to utilize your fast pass (ride times for test track were always greater than 3 hours for groups and 1.5 hrs for single rider...space mountain was 4+ for groups and 2 for standby)...as far as what do see...make sure to see Illuminations...that's always fun...i don't know what else to say...we just did all our favorite things...
Random data point #2, SWMBO and I ate at the Yacht Club steakhouse last summer and were unimpressed. Mostly had to do with having to send my steak back twice. First I ordered it medium and it came back mooing. (I mean, barely cooked). So I told them I wanted a pink center. The second time wasn't much better. I can't eat rare meat, it upsets my stomach and I explained that. My wife didn't think much of her steak either. We both thought Le Cellier in Canada (Epcot) was better.
But to each his own. We may have caught the place on a bad night.

Also -- shall those of us doing the MVMCP on the 14th meet someplace? At least for a short meeting? In '04 we all watched Wishes together...

Good morning!
How's everyone who's NOT renting a car getting to port? I have the DCL transport option, but last time I used it we got onboard at 2:30 PM (YUCK!). Any preferences on car / shuttle companies? I would hate to rent a car for just 1 day...

Yeah, it wasn't the first time I sent it back that bothered me. It was the second. When I said -- "just a touch of pink in the center", that is enough for most of the steakhouses to figure out -- even Outback can usually get it right after that and they are one of the worst for consistent steak, IMHO. Living in Chicagoland, we have lots of good steakhouses and I rarely, pun intended, have a problem.
Seems like the cook either was afraid to overcook the steak, which is often a sign of either a bad cook or a bad cut of meat, or didn't care.
