The first cruise, we did the Sunset Cruise and that is where my dd met her best friend for the rest of the cruise. His name was Nathan and he was the sweetest boy I had ever met. His family thought the same of Julia and they were just too cute together. The Sunset Cruise thru DCL was lovely and is one of the few I would consider doing again.
Last cruise (2004) we did NOTHING. I just walked around the shops, and just relaxed and enjoyed being on the ship for the first full day.
How about you...any plans?

Mary Ann--congrats on the big 5000.
Glassbottom boat -- was not good in KW. In a nutshell--long ride out, very murky, boat very pitchy made even the most seafaring pirates pukey, glad to be back ashore.
Conch train---NO!!!! it is actually not a train so much as a open air bus thing that takes you in circles where you could easily walk. Wasted Money!!!!
Key Lime Pie on a stick----going to go try in April.
How about a meet for a drink at one of the places that evening or afternoon??? I love the place that has about 20 frozen drink things on the wall. Can't think of the name. It has an open air patio that we usually sit on and people watch. They also have frozen Bahama Mamas, frozen Planters Punch...I'll check the name in 2 weeks.

Kat--you aren't believing GaRRy are you???? He is not 39 unless he stopped counting many years ago. I believe if Stacey is as old as Santa Clause (wasn't that what he said???)then...........................oh forget it. He is 50 right ? You might get a 28 yr. old liver and then you could probably average the 2 ages and be correct when you state you are 39. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

On the 2004 cruise I remember Key West being rather cool. Maybe high 50's. Kind of felt bad for the folks signed up for that Jet Ski Excursion.
I really do like relaxing that first day. I have cronic insomnia (especially in a strange bed), so I always book that "capsule thingy" for my first day. Once I get a good night's sleep, I don't seem to have an issue anymore and the capsule helps that happen quickly. If that makes any sense :confused3

The only time we were in Key West was on the 10 Night Christmas cruise, and I didn't get to see Key West....or much of it. That's where Jay and I did our vow renewal...on the beach at the Southernmost Point. It WAS wonderful.....and gaRry was our HERO!
So I can't wait to actually SEE Key West. Jordan and I did run out early in the day and hit a couple of shops right there at the pier, but that's all.

Wow I was on the treadmill and bike for 2 hours and I come back and you all have been so chatty.
So what about Margarittaville in Key West? We were thinking we might like to stop in there.
We were not planning on any official excursions in Key West. But remember we are newbies and are open for suggestions.

You see I ordered a new swimsuit two sizes small than I am. So there is a need for me to spend less time sitting in the computer chair and more on the bike and treadmill. :rotfl2: I think I can make it though. I official changed my eating habits Jan 6, the day my MIL book our cruise and have lost two sizes already so this should be realistic.
Lets hope so. I really love this suit.

So it sounds like most of us are on the same page with nothing in KW. And Yes remember to bring a couple of days worth of warm clothes because it was slightly chilly. So I will look up the exact location and names, streets...when we are there and let ya know. We can decide on a time. For those who have never been to KW--we dock right downtown. Everything is right there.
Ok, Mary Ann we can try all 20 of them. :rotfl: :rotfl: Only one problem is getting back to the ship. GarRy will you be our designated walker?????

I went on the dolphin swim on Anguilla so I did'nt see any of St. Maartin. Dolphin swim was not worth it. Paul stayed on the island with Kira. He just cruised around town. Lots of butterflys. That is if I'm not getting my islands confused.
Have a great day all.

we went diving. It was sooooooo rough that i even got sea sick underwater. I never get seasick, so it was really rough. The diving was fun, but the water was too rough to go diving there ever again. it's like that all the time too. Next time don't know what we will do.
Can i change the topic? <--

10 am is gingerbread house sign up for houses to be built later in the week. Fills up VEWRRY fast.
Pretty much nothing going on onboard other than music by the goofy pool. Do we want to do an afternoon time before dinner? All aboard was early around 7:00. ........Maybe 3:00 or 4:00 so everyone will have time afterwards to prepare for dinner???

On St. Maarten we could not do any of the excursions because of childrens ages at the time. When you dock here, you are a ways from town and you can catch water taxis to town for $5.00. We wandered around town but I guess it was too early because most shops were not opened so we walked back to the ship--it was a short pretty walk. Could not find much to do around the area we visited. We definitely want to do something water based here. The water looked gorgeous. Anyone do anything snorkeling wise??? Beach break????

we did snorkeling in 2000. It was awesome, but now that we are divers, we would never be able to snorkel. Just a diver's thing.

After a brief discsussion with DH, here is what we recall. The first time we went we did the St. Maarten Island & Butterfly Farm Tour. DD was 4. She loves butterflies but just was not to so into this tour (probably the longish bus ride). So in 2004, we signed up for the See & Sea Tour. When we got to the meeting place, we found out it was cancelled due to rough seas.
So DD asked to go to the club. DH and took a taxi to Marigot and walked aroung a bit. We didnt really buy anything (not really shoppers). And then back to the ship.
So I am up for hearing your ideas on this one.

No excursions on KW for us. We found some neat shops there, though. They have a shop that sells only hot sauces! That was cool, have to go back. And the Key West Winery has some awesome wines. Need to buy some more Key Lime wine to bring home as ours is all gone.
I know DH wants to do some snorkeling as well as diving. He may want to do the Shipwreck Cove excursion on St. Maarten but he won't even look at the excursion stuff for a while yet. Is the See and Sea Island excursion any good?
Oooh, I didn't even see all of that list Judy...I just looked again. He will want to do the Scuba one if they offer it again!
Yup, blue jeans and a sweatershirt or two, though I will probably end up buying one on board.

Remember to leave room in your luggage. We didnt and also bought sweatshirts and presents. Then we had to buy TWO disney rollerboards on board because we couldnt repack! And we were not the only ones, they sold out.
At least I have gotten a whole lot of use out of those disney rollerboards since then.:rotfl:

in key west we dove through our own tour. We went with Captain's Corner. They run a 12:30 dive that get's back at 5:30. It's just enough time to run to the ship, change, and get to dinner. It's always a rush at KW, but there is truly nothing else to do there. We don't like the shops because we've been there so many times. The only store we visit is the Diver's Direct store.

Oh, yes, and Key West.
This will be our first time there, so we will walk around like the tourists that we are. I am on a mission, (not an "impossible" one) to visit all of the Margaritaville restaurants. So I will be going there. But count me in on the 20 flavor place.
And I love Key Lime Pie, so, I better have one while there.

Willie I will send it right now. Let me know if you get it.
Jeri that is so funny. We did the same thing and bought an over the shoulder duffle. We liked it so much that we got another one on the west coast cruise. Also we did not take enough warm clothes. I felt like mine were overworn by the end of the cruise. We did gain a little room from christmas presents when they were opened up and boxes disposed of. (We just did
Santa presents on board and the rest when we came home---Santa chose small stuff like game boy cartridges)
If you want sweatshirts from the gift shop-- you might want to visit them soon ---they sold out of everything on that cruise. Hopefully they are now used to longer cruises.

Jen Congratulations!!!!!!! You are twice mine (almost). Hey I am still waiting for the story about how GaRRy caused a big scene at boat drill----????? Did he try to "pick you up"?? Kissed you thinking you were his daughter???? Trampled you in the hallway thinking it was a real emergency???? Spilled coffee all over you----we know how he loves his hot coffee????
Willie---glad it worked. What--- Kelli is ditchin' you in SM???? Is it a shopping excursion? The water looked so beautiful there. We both were wishing we were in it. Definitely nothing downtown so water excursion looks like our cup of tea. Have you been to the Margaritavilles in City Walk? We like going there--we just try to avoid the park times.

Good news, before I made it out the door. DH handed me a stack that we have and so if you or anyone else wants them just send me a pm with your details and I will mail them to you. Here is what we have:
6 "Alien Green" -I think this is the closest to DIS green
2 "Sonic Boom" - slightly darker shade of green (Lime)
5 "Friendly Forest" - Dark forest green color
1 "Ultra Pure White" - as stated
10 "Code Red" - Primary red color
I have no orange or blue but may sneak out to Home Depot anyway to check what they have.

Yes, DW Kelli and girls may be ditching me in St Maarten. Not for certain. They want to see some of the island, then end up on a beach. I may just go straight to beach, or maybe a dive. Or I may just tag along with them.
We went to Orlando Margaritaville last November before our cruise. Spent two nites at Hard Rock Hotel and did the parks. I had been to this Margaritaville once before a few years ago. I love the rum drinks and atmosphere.

Todays topic is St. Maarten------
We had a lot of fun in St Maarten. We took a taxi over to Orient Beach. The sea was very rough there too, but it was sunny and the water was warm. The people selling trinkets on the beach was a bit much. I know that bugs some people, but I don't have a problem with them as long as they accepted our "No Thank You's".
A local came down and started taking bets for crab races. Between me, Julia and Jimmy we won 3 bottles of rum and $20. Julia won a bottle of rum, so I had to trade my $20 with her. It was fun.
I think I would like to try the butterfly farm, but maybe do it on our own instead of DCL. I just think they waste so much time cattleing people around. Was the ride that bad, Jeri?

A girl I went to college with at West Texas family owned most of the land near Skellytown outside of Pampa. It is a working cattle ranch. I believe it is one of the largest. Anyways now she and her husband run it. I have been unable to contact them but very worried about their land and homestead. Skellytown was where they specifically mentioned on the news. For non texans (I am sorry for you) :rotfl2: :rotfl2: this is in the panhandle near--- in Texas terms ---to Amarillo. Jeri is in DFW and Willie is in Houston. Both are about 8-12 hours away. Wouldn't you say? I know El Paso was an 8 hour drive from Canyon near Amarillo. Everything is a long way in Texas.

Kat, there is supposed to be another really good wine shop in KW. White Tarpon on Front St. Has a small restaurant attached that specializes in matching the food they serve with wines. Supposed to be a local favorite.

It wasnt bad. It just happened to be an overcast day and Helena fell asleep on the bus so at the time it just wasnt that exciting for us. Yes, there seem to be alot of shuffling on and off the bus. The butterfly farm was off by itself so if you decide on a taxi you may want to make arrangements for your return or just pay a little extra to have them wait for you. The exhibit "tour" really wouldnt take thirty minutes.

OK, time for me to catch up; everyone has been so chatty! :hyper2:
Key West - We will probably do our own walking tour, need to see Hemingway House (DS got 59 out of 60 points on his Hemingway report he just did for literature; of course he will hate me for dragging him there but too bad) and other touristy places like that. We could meet up for a drink at Margaritaville or the frozen drink place before watching the sunset (it will be at 5:42 that day) from some cool place or maybe back on the ship. Onboard is 7pm.
St. Maarten - We are considering the 12-metre regatta but I want to have time to explore the island - go to the French side etc. Not much into shopping so much as sampling the history and culture of each island.
MP3 - DS just got a new one and has been busy copying songs onto the computer to load on - mostly oldies that he has scrounged from DH and my collections: Beach Boys, Beatles, Eagles, Aerosmith, Iron Butterfly, etc. He loves that stuff, as well as some hip-hop and of course his favorite - Wierd Al. :music:
Jen - that smilie..... :sad2: :rotfl:

Mary Ann, I walked in last night after work and was greeted by my very excited daughter telling me that she had gotten another email from Julia and she was going to answer right away! I think she is having fun with it. I hope they do get to be friends so Sam will have someone to hang with on the cruise.
Julia enjoys getting Samantha's emails too. You have a lovely looking family. She was a little hesitant at first about corresponding. She made a good friend on the last curise and when she emailed her, she never wrote back. Year and half later she still says, "Why didn't Alissa ever write back". Girls are funny. They take everything to heart. It will be good for her to know someone before she gets on board.
I have to wonder how many kids Julia and Samantha's (and older) are going to be cruising. The schedule must interfere with a lot of school schedules.

Yes, I think they take everything to heart at this age! princess: As long as Julia responds I think Sam will reply back to her. She is so excited to think that she may "know" someone before we get onboard. Are you going to allow her to sign herself in and out of the clubs? Sam would like it if we did but I don't want to do that if she is going to be the only one. She did pretty well this last summer when we let her go back to the room by herself after dinner so I don't think it would be a problem, but it would definitely be a trial thing for the first day or two to see how she did with it.
Different school systems around here have different vacation schedules. This last year one school system didn't break for Christmas until the week after we did and then they went back on January 9!
We will definitely need to make a chart to show what meets, etc we are doing! I definitely want to sign up early for the gingerbread houses. Maybe we will have to have a whole crew of us go together to sign up! Meeting somewhere on KW sounds fun too. I can probably be a designated walker (or helper) as I generally don't drink too much (being diabetic and all that is a no-no though I do once in a while). I might tie one on one night on the ship (ladies' night out maybe?) but not on shore. I am usually our designated driver around here. :car: DH swears I got pretty trashed on new years but I was just a little toasty. Besides, all I had to do was walk across the street, wasn't like I had to drive anywhere!!
I love key lime pie. My grandmother lived on Key Largo and grew her own limes, made the greatest pies. But the best key lime pie I ever had was last summer on the Wonder one day at lunch. OMG was it awesome!!!

Kat, I do plan on giving her sign out privileges. I haven't told her that yet, though. I keep giving her a defininte "maybe". There will be rules that will go along with it, and she knows I would have no problem pulling the privilage if they aren't followed. I've been lucky in the fact she's always been a "rules" kind of kid. Although she's getting to the age where that could change at any moment  .
Our city usually sticks to the week between Christmas and New Year's for Holiday Break, so when the schedule comes out it will probably be the same as yours, Judy.

European Bathing, Hmmm. Is that another name for topless? Or just plain old butt nekkid? My DD11 Erin would plain freakout if that came strolling by. She is so funny about that stuff. Kelli and the girls were at a beach near Galveston, where cars can drive on the beach. A pickup truck passed by a few times with college kids in the back, and the girls were flashing their puppies. Kelli said that Erin and her buddies were mortified. After a few passes, Dw's friend said to Kelli "Next time they pass, we should flash em back. That will keep them away from here for good!"
I don't know if they did or not. I was laughing too hard to listen.

My "Mission Possible" is this- Have large quanities of rum flavored drinks in every Margaritaville. I am happy to report that I have completed the following segments of my "Mission Possible."
Las Vegas (X3)
Orlando (X3)
New Orleans (X2)
Almost had Cancun last September at BIL's wedding. But DW pooped out on me and went to sleep. And I was just blocks away! I guess even the best secret agents are no match against a wife who has had a few too many during the wedding mixer, and needs to lay down.
Oh, yeah. You guys don't need to mention that I told you about this to Mrs. W. OK? ;)
If you guys can keep this secret, I have a great cruise story to share!
Where was I? Oh yes. Looks like I will have to return to Cancun!
I will have a chance to add Key West this cruise. And there is a Margaritaville opening in Grand Cayman. (Time for another Western!)
What ones am I forgetting?
The most fun Margaritaville so far has to have been New Orleans. Mostly because of the guy playing guitar there was great, and alot of fun. His name is Joe Bennett, and he has a couple of great beach music albums. That location is now back up and running. (Katrina)
Best food was the Vegas location. But it was also the most expensive.

some of them i have no information for other than their board name.
Any word that i would normally say would be filtered out and i would be banned. Poopy is replacement for some other words.

OK so....so far we have a possible or probable frozen drink meet at the flying monkeys in Key West.
I don't think we have spent enough time on St. Maarten yet so can we wait to move on???
Kind of what I am hearing is Jen wants to scuba, watch out for the nude beaches if you have kids, don't waste your valuable time on the land things when the water is so beautiful........ Do others want to do a beach/water thing???? I found a couple of catamarans for charter if we wanted to do that. If there is an interest I will research. Anyone want to help????? My personal dream excursion would be to board a cat, cruise to a secluded beach and be able to snorkel or enjoy the beach without having to explain to my kids why some people are showing their private parts and with few to no vendors on the beach.

i will just warn you now. Unless Disney does not offer scuba at the island, my mom will not go privately. She will only use the Disney excursions simply because everything is taken care of and equipment is good and things like that. On St. Lucia, if they do diving again, we WILL be doing that. We did the Pirate one last time, but really liked what we heard about the diving. They went through the Sandals resort, and that company has the best diving ever!

Willie, I pretty much have the planning done already. Packing is about the only thing left and much of that will have to wait until next week.
I am not much of a beach person so I doubt I will do much in terms of beach excursions. I would like to see the islands, however, so will probably either do tours or go off on my own. I know DH will want to do the scuba excursions. And on St. Lucia DD and I would like to go see the drive-through volcano so as much as I'd love to do the pirate excursion that may win out. I believe there was another pirate excursion somewhere else so I would probably be more likely to do that one.

That is fine too. My family can just charter ourselves. Not a big deal. We love the cruising and are not into the caribbean shopping thing. I am the leave no grain of sand unexplored kind. We don't really have a choice to go with DCL. I know everything is taken care of however they also have age restrictions. My children do not usually fit into their parameters. A perfect example is the stingray city tour in GC. Age limit is 8 --(I believe). My 1.5 year old loved it. She is going for her 3rd time in 2 weeks. I do not want to leave them on board while I go off to a foreign island and hope I make it back on board. (especially after recent postings on the main board) I come on this cruise to spend some time with them and so I want to take them to do something they will enjoy. I can't ask them to be satisfied with sitting in a tour bus for 8 hours which is sometimes the only DCL excursion they qualify for.

Well so far this is what some of fabulusks kids have indicated interest in horseback riding, pirate ship party, and snorkling and jetskiing at Castaway Cay.
The adults seem to want to do some island exploring and looking for the "best beverages" :cool1: the islands can offer. :stir:
With so many of us and so many of you, I am sure that we will have a great time. We are all open for suggestions.

Hey Judy,
My family would be interested in checking out a private charter with you guys on one of the islands. That sounds like the perfect trip.
Last Thanksgiving we had a private charter lined up for 30 DIS members at Grand Cayman that was just like what you described. Even had lunch and stingray visit before heading to Rum Point.
But when we got to GC, the waves were too high to tender and the port was closed. No trip. It was gonna be the highlight of the whole cruise. Sea day instead.
Someday I am gonna make that private trip to Rum Point!

Willie
Now you have me laughing too hard to READ! European bathing is plain old butt nekkid. The beach is public and the Euro bathers stroll ........

Also have not heard from 5J's. But they did this last year. Waited til closer to sailing, then, WHAM, posted like crazy.
And Lampy has traded us in for Turkey Sandwich Leftovers. That is what they are calling themselves on the 11/25/06 post Thanksgiving cruise board. I would much rather be a Christmas HAM, myself.

Well my DS got a pair of rollerblades. It is funny to watch him because he is built like a linebacker --ok maybe the whole front line. :rotfl2: We wants to skate all the time which would be fine if we lived in a neighborhood or had a paved drive but we live on 5 acres with a gravel drive so we are going to the trail and skate park. And I, of course, have him in a full helmet and everything. Rather be safe then sorry. But he is driving me    . Thank goodness baseball starts soon. I didn't think he would like them (the skates) that is why I agreed to buy him a pair $.99 off Ebay. He tends to play it on the safe side and has not been a real big risk taker! Let's hope it is just temporary. He wants piano lessons so maybe if we do that it will distract him from the rollerblades. :thumbsup2

Yup, it is the wearin' o' the green today. And a top o' the marnin' to ya!!!
If you could hear me you'd even hear the accent but you can't so I have to type it. I have fun with that - learning new accents. It is terrible if I spend more than a couple of weeks somewhere. One summer I spent a month in Charleston, SC and went back north talking like a southern belle! I got some pretty strange looks in Milwaukee, I can tell you!
Taking DM to dinner tonite at her favorite restaurant. Tomorrow afternoon a friend is going to sit at the Y with the girls so they can enjoy the free swim while the rest of us go catch a movie (V for Vendetta). DD is pretty excited about that as she loves to swim. Gotta get her another new swimsuit this weekend too. The one piece we got her a couple of months ago is too small already!!! Growing like a weed, she is.
DH passed his tests at scuba last night so he is ready to do the open water dives in Hawaii. He is pretty psyched. This weekend I will get down to some serious packing!

Happy Birthday, anniversary, and St. Patrick's day!! We have 3 birthdays this month for us. DH was in the beginning, mine was this past week and DD is at the end of the month.
Kids have the day off. The schools finally got smart--so many would skip school to go to the parade in Cleveland. The girls basketball team (from my kids high school) are in Columbus for the state playoffs. They won their game today and play the final game tomorrow at 5:00. Hope they win!!!
I just can't keep up with you guys. I try to read up on all the posts, but it's not easy!
I did something crazy this week--booked a cruise for Christmas of 2007! I also put a request in for 2008. I think I'm an obsessive planner.

trainer thinks she probably stepped on a rock and twisted her right front ankle. He's going to give her a few days off and then go from there. If she comes up lame after a few days, I will have her bones tested for chronic lameness issues. But that's only if she comes up lame again.

Jen-Hope Boo has a speedy recovery. We were very lucky with Squiggie back in the day. He only came up lame once and was very short lived. You know since we live in Washington --it rains ALOT. It was early in the circuit season and at an outdoor areana. My mom had (again back then) over $180 in entry fees which seemed like a lot 15 years ago. The areana was muddy had ruts from where the tractor had attempted some grooming. The show officials would not cancel and would not refund for us canceling until we were in bareback horsemanship class and Squiggie and I went down. I was fine except really muddy and upset that SO did not reschedule - he came up with a slight limp. We put him in the trailer hauled him directly to our vet and they checked him out and it was a strained shoulder. The SO did return the entry fees and he was better within a couple of days with treatment.

Can you believe it, yes I will be in Detroit, staying at Marriott Ren. Center. This week it is just a few days. Then I will find out if I will be back. If it turns out like last gig, it could be over 6 months.

Everyone seems to think they are going to the Mediterranean. Maybe France to celebrate the anniversary of the Disney Paris park opening :confused3 .
Then again, they could totally shock everyone and annouce they are doing Hawaii. I keep hearing that people are reserving their cabins before the annoucement.
I read an article the other day and it stated that DCL sold out the California repo cruises without ever making an annoucement or advertisement for it.

Hello All !!! My DS (Bryan, 11) and I are on this cruise as well. I've been reading this thread for a while now and figure it's about time I let you know I'm here.
December is just not coming quick enough!

did you send me an email? I think i got it anyway. Somebody new emailed me asking to be added. I saw the alert pop up, but didn't really pay attention because i was in the middle of watching Top Gun for the hundreth time this week.
Oh intro for me....
Hi I'm Jen and i will be 18 at the time of the cruise (17 now). I love horses and own a young show prospect currently in training. I am a die hard Tom Cruise fan, crazy Star Wars geek, and i can hack just about any wireless internet system. lol. I am on a hacked signal right now because i am sitting at a fast food parking lot waiting for the rest of the bus to get their food. found some company's wireless signal and presto...I'm connected. Gosh it feels good to be bad. lol. HAHA! Anyway, you'll probably think i'm crazy because, well, I really act it. lol. anywho, bye all!

Thanks for the welcome!
Jen, you sure are one busy girl! I just realized that there were more links in your signature. I was looking at your pictures from the last Xmas cruise and your Leadership Conference pics.
Yes it was me that emailed you about getting added to the list. I really like NCIS as well. I wasn't impressed when they killed off Kate last season though ...
Again, thanks for the welcome. It'll be nice to know people on the cruise this time other than my son. Once he discovered the Lab last time he wanted to be there all the time so I was on my own most of the day (not that I'm complaining, it was nice to just wander off by myself and look around the ship).

According to the Cruisers - Palatkacruisers are in 5506. Palatkacruiser are you out there? Your cabin is right smack in the middle :crowded: of our four rooms. :rotfl2:
Just wanted to see if you were out there and say hi  .
Cruising Veterans - Do you think there is a chance of us getting up graded? AAA said no way. And is this a good place to be located?

It looks like all cabins are sold out except for category 9, 10, and 11, so I doubt that anyone will be getting upgrades on this cruise (except for maybe a few 12's).
DH and I just received our birthday gifts from our kids (b-days were in January and February) and they gave me the Disney Scene-It DVD game. It looks like a lot of fun but I might have to brush up on my Disney movies; DS is 14 (almost) so it has been a few years since we have watched them. Well, except for the other day when Robin Hood was on TV which is DS's favorite so we watched a little of it. :goodvibes

HOWDY JACKIE! And welcome aboard!
I am back from the bass fishing trip with DD Hayley. We also brought her soccer trainer(and my friend) along with us. He is from England, So we gave him the East Texas Hillbilly Bass Fishin Tour.
Actually we had a nice trip even though the weather turned crummy on us. Went from warm and sunny to cold and wet! We had a nice little cabin on the lake.
The fishing was just OK. Same old story- You shoulda been here yesterday! But we caught enough to keep us interested, just did not slay em like I hoped. We will head back up in a few weeks. DD's knee is coming alond well. Lots of standing and walking this weekend. the cabin is uphill about 75 yards from where the boat was parked. So she got lots of work on it!

We are being told that we are under a winter weather advisory with a possibility of up to 4 inches of snow by tomorrow night. What's even better is that it is then supposed to warm back up to 45 by Thursday so whatever snow we do get will melt by the weekend! Winter in Indiana, gotta love it. But wait, it's spring now so I don't know what the deal is...
Hope everyone is well and happy. Garry, please do let us know what your doc says....

Ok, so Judy got me thinking the other day about the ports and what we were going to do. I guess it took her post to realize I had NO idea what we were going to do this time around. I spent some (well, a lot of) time researching the ports this weekend. I think I'm actually planned out until Antigua, except for St Lucia.
So far our plan is (subject to change)
Key West - take a cab to the Southernmost point for pitcures, then back track a block to the Butterfly Conservertory, then walk back via Duvall St for shopping. Then meet up with all you good folks at the Monkey Bar for a Marguerita or two. Although, that drink with the grain alcohol & lemonade looks tempting. I may stop at White Tarpon for wine. That is, if I don't ship a case down to the port before we sail. Hubby didn't care for my bar bill at the end of the last 10 day :guilty: . I didn't care for the other wine store in Key West. Too sweet for me. I'm kinda dry :rotfl2:
St Maarten - Going to go to Divi Little Bay Beach, leave there by 12 - 12:30 and head over to Maho - Sunset Beach Bar for lunch and drinks (hey, maybe we can do a mini meet there) to watch the Jumbo Jets take off and land. I guess it is quite the adventure since they are actually flying so close you think they are going to hit you :thumbsup2 Yes, Jumbo Jets in my face :thumbsup2
St Lucia...no clue here yet. Waiting to see if family and friends will be there that early. They are heading down for the holidays, but since SIL is a teacher, I don't think she can get away that early.

Yes Sue, I do think there are definately advantages to booking through DCL as opposed to doing it on your own. Since we don't do anything fancy (mostly beach bum type stuff), it is much more reasonably priced to do it on our own.
There is nothing I love more than thinking about the 20 degrees and snow back home and laying on a beach in the carribean. Plus, give Julia a shovel and pail and you won't hear a peep for hours....she's in her glory

thought you all might like an update......
Had the visit today with the transplant team. Today was the start of getting onto the list. We met with Garry’s transplant physicians (Hepatologist) the transplant surgeon, coordinator and social worker. Garry had to have a great deal of lab work done, chest x-ray, and is scheduled for ultrasound and a stress test. These are considered part of the "pre-transplant" evaluation. The lab test results for some of the values will be used to form a MELD score. This score will determine where Garry falls on the recipient list. All of the testing will have to be done to have final approval for "listing". We also have to attend a transplant education class prior to being on the waiting list. The class is only held every other Wednesday, this weeks class is full so we will be attending class on April 5th. The required dental checkup will be done by his dentist at his apt next week. They also require a TB test be completed.
The U of M transplant team meets weekly on Thursdays for presentation of potential transplant candidates. Garry’s physician and coordinator will make a preliminary presentation of Garry’s case at this weeks meeting. They will not officially put him on the list until all of his tests have been completed. Once the preliminary presentation is done they will have a better idea of where he falls on the list.
Everyone that we spoke with today emphasized the importance of the lab work. Garry will have to repeat most of it every 1-3 months and repeat the ultrasound every 6 months.

...give Julia a shovel and pail and you won't hear a peep for hours....she's in her gloryYes, I remember when Bryan's favorite activity was to go to "the giant sandbox"! Once when he was about 2 1/2, he went on a mission to level the entire beach. If he even found a small hill of sand he took his shovel to it until is was level with the rest of the sand. I had to run around keeping him away from everyone's sandcastles, or they were doomed! :rotfl: Then he started making castles with giant moats, "Mom, would you go get some more water (handing me two buckets at a time)?"

And like a dutiful Mom, you got him all the water he needed to claim the best moat on the beach :love:Yeah, that's me all right. That's one of the reasons we will be on this cruise; we could have chosen another cruise line for a lot less money, "But I really want to go on Disney", and we could have gone at a different time for a lot less money, "But I really want to go at Christmas". So here we are! And he's right anyway, this is the best choice for us! :goodvibes

Just an FYI for people coming in the night before the cruise....
I just read this off the main boards and I think it is a pretty good deal so I booked it....
Residence Inn is opening this week in Cape Canaveral. I looked up their rates and booked a one bedroom w/full kitchen, living room & hot breakfast included for $99.00. That's a decent rate. I think the cheapest at Raddison was $139 for a standard room, no breakfast.
I can cancel anytime and might still go with the Hotwire by the airport route if we are getting in real late, but thought I'd pass it on if anyone was looking for a deal near the port.
