Dave (my DH) won't wear anything matching, period. And I doubt he'd wear anything DIS either as he still isn't too sure about my talking to everyone. He thinks it is weird though I think he'll be ok with it once he realizes that we will have folks to socialize with on this cruise (whereas we haven't in the past).

I would definitely go with red, blue, a forest or kelly green, black or white. Any other color just looks dreadful on me. Yellow and most greens make me look jaundiced and orange gives me a strange orange/yellow coloring. Ugh. I know, women worry about these things more than men do but someone has to :) .

We would love T-shirts. Still wear the ones from the '04 cruise...

Just a precautionary note -- most places I know of won't let you make anything with a copyrighted image on it (MM, DCL logo). I'm just saying...

just popping in quick to say stuff about the shirts.

I can easily make a design for each day. It might be expensive but i can do it. Alot of places ask, but will make stuff anyway. Plus, Garry is incharge of actually getting them made. He has a lady do it for him.

KatHuss
01-03-2006, 03:23 PM
No, I don't think a shirt for every day is necessary. That is way too much luggage space. Besides, I don't wear t-shirts that much. I would definitely be interested in one for me and maybe one for DD and might be convinced to go for a 2nd one but that would be about it. I want to spend my money for the cruise on goodies from the islands after all!

Hi all! I know, I've been on a 7 month hiatus, but I'm going to try to get back into things again now that we're under a year! Yahoo!

Hi Sue! Just spent several days with my parents loving their dobies and getting terribly wet here in northern CA. :umbrella:

Hi garRy! Been missing you and your W A Ys.

Who else is joining us now? Seems like we may have lost a lot of folks to the special cruises in September...

Anywho...what's this about t-shirts? Can someone repost a link for me to see? We will definitely get them. DH really liked them for our last two cruises, though he didn't think he would at first. In fact, we ended up buying the Holiday Cruise (10-day) at the port because he didn't think he wanted them until he saw everyone wearing them and knew we were part of THAT :grouphug: crowd!

What else have I missed? Do I need to sign up for stuff?

Cheers, Kara

Ok, Holiday DIScruisers, DW has a question. Does Disney still do the DCL pickup at Animal Kingdom and do you think they would do this on the morning of our Holiday Cruise?

SWMBO is thinking that instead of spending $150 a night at the Hyatt as we did before, instead using "Magical Express" to take us to PO-Riverside, which costs about the same, and then buying a one-day pass so she can ride Expedition Everest at AK, which opens in 2006. The only extra cost is the one-day passes IF Disney still picks you up from AK. (I guess otherwise, we could take a bus to PO, AKL or some other resort for pickup as long as DCL takes our bags from PO.)

What do y'all think?

Kat - I know what you mean about the DH. Mine just gives me the look  when I mention talking to my friends at the DIS. I hope I can get him into it, but he is not very social. Someone mentioned starting a teen thread and I think that will help DS, he likes that kind of thing. BTW, we have the second dinner seating.

Jen - You go and take care of things; good luck. :grouphug:
I think I like the idea of 2 shirts, maybe red and white.

I'll wear any color shirt. I just know that I definately want one this time. (As long as it hides all the ummm...flab underneath, I'll be happy.

Jen, thanks so much for doing this. Hope everything works out well for you.

OK, I bought an elliptical machine today and they are delivering it and setting it up for me tomorrow at 8 a.m. I tried them out at the store and I think it will really be good to use. Hopefully it will get rid of some of my extra flab that never seems to want to leave my side,..and arms, butt, belly, etc.!!!

Boy Garry, must be nice to have all that time to take vacations! :) We don't have time like that but I sure wish I did! We are going to try to take some weekend trips this year but can't go far because most (if not all) of our vacation money this year is paying for the cruise and our Hawaii trip in March. Maybe next year, or the year after, or the year after that.... :confused3 :wizard: With a little pixie dust it could happen. :wizard:

WWID?????????? Hmmm, let's see....maybe a solo trip to WDW(BTW, it's never REALLY a solo trip when you're on the DIS boards ;) ) for a few days then board Magic on a Saturday (the family can fly in for that)then a few more days in WDW afterward, perhaps the Grand Floridian and then maybe a trip on the Wonder...never seen her before.

OK, time to pinch myself, 'cause it IS just a dream. Who do I think I am anyway...Stacey :earseek: ???

Seriously, we are heading to WDW April, July/August & December (after the cruise). We love to meet up with you, gaRry (or anyone else, for that matter) if you're down at those times. No Grand Floridian though :sad1: , maybe someday.

MaryAnn, I am jealous of you too! I wish I could go to WDW that often! I took SIL, DD and niece last year just before Christmas but we were only there for a couple of days. DH doesn't want to go again. I would love to take DD again (and I know she'd love to go) but that probably won't happen for a couple of years.

I am soooooooo bored today. Can I take a nap??

And I am tired of the grey, rainy, chilly days. It is still almost pitch black outside at 7:20 when I am waiting to put the kids on the bus and the days have remained gray and yucky, then it is already getting dark by 5:00 when I get out of work. I thought the days were supposed to be getting longer!

On the bright side, less than 3 months to our next vacation!

You bored? I had to sit through stupid lectures all day on:

1) Deep space objects (not so bad)
2) Shakespeare (barf)
3) The war on terror (BARF)
4) Napoleon (ick)
5) The Bell Curve in statistics

Now i have to wait almost 5 hours for entertainment. Yeah, do not expect me to respond to anything after 8. USC is on!

I would love to goto WDW before the cruise, but I am pushing it with DD's school schedule already (she will miss 5 full days) with the X-Mas cruise. I really do hate the dates that DCL has picked for this cruise (not to mention having to pack up on X-Mas/CC Day), but I'm just a sucker for that 10 day thing. We always went to WDW the 2nd week of Dec before DD started school and it was the best. After the cruise we have a timeshare with it's own water park and loads of other stuff. On days we go to the parks we will be at the gate an hour before opening and out by noon...that's the plan anyway.

In April we are there for the 15th to the 22nd. Oh, that would be Easter Week...the 2nd busiest time of the year :crazy2: :crowded:  .

Every other year DD and myself get AP's and we make a WDW year. DH only gets a 10 day pass (he actually has to work year round, unlike mysef). My friend lives in Kissimmee so DD and I get to spend alot of time with her and her boys :grouphug: .

good luck with that. When we went afterword (last 10 day) it was soooo swamped. I do believe, if the cast members of epcot were acurate, the Magic Kingdom was fulled to capacity. They were actually holding people at the gate because they were full. They said epcot was 1000 people from being filled to capacity. I don't know what Max. cap. is, but i'll find out and amaze you all.

Sorry Jen about your Trojans. The streak had to end sometime. I thought Coach Pete Carroll showed alot of class after the game, as did all of the team. There are alot of future NFL stars there.

But WOW what a game. Vince Young just would not be denied. Several of the Texas players played high school ball around here and their families live here, so it was a big deal here all season.

I had 5 buddies over to watch the game and we were hooping and hollering. Woke up the girls. OOPS! They had and early day today was first day back from Christmas Holidays. Oh well. It WAS about as exciting as a game can get. Worth staying up for.

Hook em Horns!

Good morning all! Sorry about USC losing. I would have liked to have them win simply to defeat TX! (Sorry TX fans... :confused3 )

DH and I are going to be a WDW for the week before the cruise. We've already arranged to buy DVC points from a friend, so we're hoping to stay at BWV. We love it there, we can walk to Epcot and MGM. We only have to drive or bus to MK and AK. I guess we'll see some of you there!

Keep warm on the East Coast! We FINALLY have a small break from all the rain we've been getting, so I am super excited. Supposed to be 65 today, then rain moving back in just in time for the weekend. ugh - we will NEVER get those darned Christmas lights off the house!

DCLgodess
01-05-2006, 09:08 AM
he did show class and that is to be respected. They weren't sore losers. They played an awesome game, but 1 man was just a hair better. You can't win all the time. Smarty Jones is probably the best example of that. Undefeated until the Belmont. I am just sad to see them lose. I'm not even going to USC but it still hurts. I don't want to start a fight on the boards, considering your from Texas and you are, understandably, a Texas fan. So I will leave it with a sincere Congratulations, the best team of the night won, and I look foward to a future rematch between the 2 teams.

Okay having ended my hiatus (guess i never really took one) and my mourning, I will resume normal posting. I can work on a design for a second T-shirt, unless using the same design on both will sufice.

karaeric
01-05-2006, 09:23 AM
jEn, sent you an email.

I would love two different designs for the t-shirts if you have the time to do the work.

If others agree, it would be fun to do what we did for the Panama Canal cruise. We all picked one t-shirt for boarding day and another for the last day, disembarkation. Of course, we all wore both throughout the cruise as well, but it was a lot of fun, and as others said, becomes a real conversation piece.

Pete Carroll..wasn't he a Pats coach years ago??

I sure wish I could do WDW before, but me thinks the truant officer would be taking me away. So it's sardine sandwich (or "lots of skin to skin contact" as delswife so eloquently put it) for us :crowded:

Kara, I stayed at the Swan for a few days in Dec and I although I wasn't too impressed with the Swan I absolutely love the location of the Epcot resorts. If I ever get to stay on-site I will definately be staying in one of those resorts. Good luck snagging BWV :wizard:

Yes, I believe you're correct on Pete Carroll.

Ain't that the truth on New England! DH is from VT, and though we love to go back to visit, he likes the weather (most of the time) here in CA better. He does miss it in the fall though!

Lots of traveling this year...June or July going back to VT for Eric's friend's homecoming from Iraq. Then October, 2 weeks in Ireland for our 10th anniversary. And finally, a week at WDW then the cruise!!!!! :cool1:

Sue, is your cruise an Eastern or Western? Hope the weather is good for you and DM.

Kara, what part of VT is your DH from? VT is affectionately referred to as cow country around here and very cold so CA must be a drastic change. Fall is my favorite season and VT has the most beautiful foliage in the country so I can certainly understand how he must miss it. I can still remember as kids our yearly pilgrimage to Hogback Mountain in the fall :goodvibes

YES, we will definately be cheering for the PATS this Saturday. Us NE Fans need to pin all our hopes on football 'cause I think the Soxs may turn out to be a bit of a dissapointment. And hockey & basketball, let's not even go there :sad2:

I'm hoping we won't have a problem taking DS out of school as early as I plan to next Dec. -- he'd miss about 2 weeks, but I do NOT want to go to WDW after the cruise -- we did that after the last 10 days and I did not enjoy the crowds at all...So I'll bribe the teacher with a special report or something...Right now we plan on arriving at the WLV on 12/11.

Meanwhile, in LESS THAN A MONTH I'll be leaving for WDW and a 7-night Eastern with my best friend Kat. We'll be gone 17 days...I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

I'm all for multiple t-shirts. And if you have a person that will actually do Jen's pretty design -- more power to you!

Sue, I sent Denise a message over New Year's and when I didn't hear anything I looked her city up on the map and she SEEMED to be well south of the flooding so hopefully it is just her family issues keeping her away, not that that's any fun either.

gaRry, I thought you were kidding. Are you really heading down to WDW Tuesday? Sometimes I have a little trouble deciphering your posts :scratchin :magnify: :scratchin . Have a great trip and make sure to bring the dependable vehicle :moped: .

I just realized, this group sure does vacation and/or cruise alot. Not that there's anything wrong with that  .

Dee, for some reason our fine state of Massachusetts ties attendance records into the yearly progress testing. Since funds are attached to the test scores the city gets pretty ticked at people taking their kids out of school. Add to that we have a very large Brazilian population in our city that take 3-4- weeks off a year to return home in winter and it seems to effect us each year pretty badly, although they don't seem to go after them. Afraid of not being "PC", I guess. Hope you have a great time on your cruise. 17 days....WOW, lucky you!!

OK, No more NFL talk! Do you want to see a grown man cry!!??!! I have season tickets to the worst team in the NFL.(Houston) At least we have first pick of the draft! And my seats are 5 rows from the playing field. And my old
favorite team, the Cowboys were a bunch of under achievers this season.

So, maybe that is my the TEXAS LONGHORN win was so fun to us Texans. Other than UT, there was not much happiness in Texas football!

No worries Willie! My team is pretty much right there with the Texans - I'm a 49er fan, born and raised. DH is the Patriots fan.

Mary Ann, DH is from a very small town in northern VT named Johnson. It's about directly East of Burlington, in the middle of the state. I've never been back to VT for fall colors. Just seen it in very sticky summer and VERY snowy winter.

Does anyone remember when they release the MVMCP dates? DH is already bugging me to make sure I get tickets for that this year while we're at WDW before the cruise.

Sorry , can't help with the dates.

Mary Ann - we are on the modified Western, Key West, Grand Cayman, NASSAU, CC. We found out about the change the same day I made final payment or I would have switched to Dee's Eastern.

Dee - We leave on the Vision of the Seas on 8/18. I would like to come out early or stay longer to visit with you and the family. These dates good for you? I know you are heading to WDW in August.

wow! CSI was sooo good last night. I have never seen that one before so i am guessing it was a new episode. Anywhoo, takinng my boyfriend out for his birthday tonight. His present still hasn't arrived yet. How long does it take stuff to get here from England? I mean seriously, you put it on a plane and fly it here. For the amount i paid in shipping i hope they put it on a plane. lol. Well, i've got a report to finish up here. TTYL!

KatHuss

Jen, yes, that was a new CSI. The one before it was a repeat. I am a CSI fanatic so I watch it every week, but only the original. Never could get into either of the spinoffs. We even watch the older ones on Spike TV if we haven't seen them already, though that is getting harder and harder to do!

We have snow flurries this morning and some of it is staying on the ground though it seems to be a very dry snow rather than a wet, sticky one. Then they say we will be in the 40s again this weekend, go figure.

Garry, do you ever get down my way? South of Ft. Wayne off of I-69? We are about 90 minutes south of Ft. Wayne and across the state and a bit south of Lampy! One of these weekends DH and I are going to head to Chicago so we will probably drive right by Lampy.

I forgot the teachers have an in-service this morning so school is delayed by 2 hours. Oh well. DD gets to watch cartoons for a while.

Ya Kat, if you head to Chicago you WILL pass within minutes of us. I-65 and 80/94 are the connection interstates closest to us.......actually rt 30 and I-65. We are in a subdivision called lakes of the four seasons between crown point and Valparaiso. www.lofs.org is the web site. 10 miles east of 65 and 5 miles south of 30.

i don't think so. maybe. I know that picture was from my camera, as it's still collecting dust on the memory stick. That's funny that you took a picture of that door though. I do that just so i can sometday make a map of where we stayed on the ship. As a pattern type thing so that people can get my reviews of various rooms on board. I'm not sure about the "tink" legs, but they are certainly NOT "Rocky" legs. I think those muscles may need a little more definition before you can take up that nickname at the legs contest ;)

So are we going to have all kinds of get togethers like you guys did on the last 10 day? I am hoping so. The ornament exchange sounded really neat and I'd love to do something like that.

MaryAnn, looks like a rivalry here with the Superbowl coming up. The Pats have beat the Colts out in the playoffs but in this part of the world they are all hoping that the Pats lose before they even play Indy again. DH has already said that if the Colts make it to the Superbowl he is going to try to get tickets.

Well, people aren't getting Pats fever around here just yet 'cause they still got a way to go and we know it won't be easy, but it's always in the back of your mind, "Gee, three in a row would be awfully nice". Kat, I would say definitely yes on the gatherings. I missed the ornament exchange on the last 10-day, but of the events I did attend, we had an absolute blast. We went to some and not to others as our schedule and desires permitted. It was great.

Here are a number of ideas I've seen and/or done:
* Boarding Day Meet (a given)
* Ornament exchange
* Book exchanges (held about every three or four days)
* Scrap booking lessons and exchange
* PJ breakfast (everyone showed up to Lumiere's with PJs on - prearranged w/DCL so there were tables set aside for everyone to sit in the same area)
* Wine tasting (everyone brought a bottle of local wine for others to taste - keep in mind this may not be do-able now due to stricter DCL rules)
* DIS Boards door-tag (A specially designed door magnet gets tagged to your door, you sign it, then pass on to another participating DIS boarder)

Anyone else remember other games/gatherings?

There was the morning walk around deck 4. Actually, there were two groups, the early risers and the sleepy heads.

Then was the girls night out. Unfortunately, that one fell on the same day as the wine tasting party. Started "tasting" (yea, right) wine at about 4 O'clock :drinking1 , then a few more glasses back at the cabin getting ready for formal night (just to take the edge off the pain of squezzing into the girdle) :drinking1 , then everyone looked so pretty so that was call for a celebration sooooooo, sucked down a bottle at dinner :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 , and now back to the cabin to get out of the gown to be all comfy for a night of drinking with the girls :cool1: . Well, the next thing I remember is waking up the next moring being heckled by dh 'cause I passed out in my bra & panties :scared1: . But, I heard Girl's Night Out was alot of fun ::yes::

Sounds like Me and Willie every day!! :rotfl2: Except we started earlier and never actually passed out....and ya I HAD NO GIRDLE!!! :hyper2: As far as the rest?!?!?!?!?! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Sigh...Brother found an assisted living place for Mom and now I've been summoned to drive to California to clean out 25 years of mobil home living (ok, $300+ is really a good deal on rent for a retired Mom). Anyone want to give me some encouraging words? I just don't feel good about this...Last time I was there 2 months cleaning, cleaning, cleaning and hardly made a dent. Sue, that is one of my resolutions. To de-clutter my house as if I was moving out and had to pay for moving it. I have so much junk and the reason is because I look at something and say, "Gee, I may need this someday" and it goes untouched again for two years when I pick it up and again say, well, you know!!!

I use flylady and when I follow here it is amazing how much I am able to get rid of with her advise.

Nice photo of the geese Ron. I look for a flock that comes to the area every winter. They like to hang out in the local polo field. It is such a treat to see them.

Oh man thats right I missed ladies night out. Its like I have kids or something. Drag me out next time ok? I liked the ornament exchange & the wine tasting. I missed everything else. This time around both the girls will be old enough for the clubhouse. Watch out Bunny on the loose.

Watched the movie Supersize Me last night. Talk about a diet motivation. I don't think I'll be eating fast food any time soon.

wow. i missed quite a lot today. lol. Been studying for midterms though. They are such stupidly hard tests, it makes me mad. lol. Heard more news about Boo. The trainer said that she is making a lot of progress. He can handle her in about every situation (except water and trailering) and she won't fight him or even pin her ears. He can ride her for hours and she will be just as coopertive in the beginning as the end. That makes me so happy. still am looking at another horse in Canada. 5 y/o AQHA mare already trained who is a grand daughter of Freckles Playboy. I know probably none of you know who that is, but just think. In his day, "Player" was the Tom Brady of reining horses. Does that analogy work? For things to do here are my comments:

* Boarding Day Meet (a given) - Definitely a given! Just a question of when and where.

* Ornament exchange - Definitely. Just let me know when!

* Book exchanges (held about every three or four days) - What kind of books? Like what we have been reading?

* Scrap booking lessons and exchange - Sorry, I don't scrap book, not my thing.

* PJ breakfast (everyone showed up to Lumiere's with PJs on - prearranged w/DCL so there were tables set aside for everyone to sit in the same area) - You don't seriously want to see me or DH in our PJ's!!

* Wine tasting (everyone brought a bottle of local wine for others to taste - keep in mind this may not be do-able now due to stricter DCL rules) - What stricter rules do they have regarding wine? We have never brought our own on board so I have no clue. I think a wine tasing would be fun. By local is it local to where we stop that day?

* DIS Boards door-tag (A specially designed door magnet gets tagged to your door, you sign it, then pass on to another participating DIS boarder) - As long as we have a list of people and where their rooms are!

*I also like the idea of a Ladies Night Out. DD is old enough that if DH wanted to go do something she can stay in the clubs or go back to the room by herself.

*What about getting together for excursions? I definitely want to do the Pirate one and would like to do some shopping.

*I also want to do the gingerbread house one that DCL does, that sounds like lots of fun.

*And of course tying ressies together so we can be seated together at dinner. Would they be terribly upset if groups that were tied and had the same server changed tables so they sat with different folks on different nights or is that a no-no?

I don't know how much DH will want to participate but that is up to him. I want to have FUN and hang out with all the crazy folks here on the board.

Sailing out of Houston was great. It's a very industrial port...although I have seen enough of them now to realize that DCL's is very out of the ordinary.
The Dream is the only cruise ship there, it's really close to the airport...it was great. They have the embarkation down to an art form, totally painless.
We were lucky, it had been raining there and in the ports the week before we went, but we had great weather.

I had been apprehensive about such a small ship....but we had perfectly smooth seas, and it ended up that I loved the ship. The Captain and his crew were the most friendly that I've ever met.

All in all....we all enjoyed it a lot.

Denise, yes, must have pirate ship! Too bad Jack Sparrow won't be there! Do you think your DD will be into it? Mine probably will be, but she'll be 10 by the time we cruise in December.

Speaking of DD, she is a bit on the shy side and said she is sort of scared to meet new kids because she won't know them. Once she does, though, I think she'll be fine. I know several of you said you had DDs who will be close to her age so hopefully they will get along and she can have someone to pal around with. I know she won't want to hang out with Mom and Dad all the time and we plan on letting her sign herself in and out of the clubs as long as she can be responsible about it. I think we are going to have a small white board in the room that she will have to stop in and write where she is going if she isn't in the club. Anyone else with kids in that age going to let them sign themselves in and out?

I am excited. I just ordered a new cover for my cell phone and it has my favorite Disney character on it! Tink of course!

Now I have to start working on a door sign for us. Got to have Tink, of course. I have tried to find a picture of her in a Santa hat that I can use but haven't been able to find one that I can put on a sign. Oh well, I still have time. I'm not sure what the new rules might be either, Kat. I found a pretty recent thread on the main board and it didn't say anything had changed. I had planned on shipping down a case of wine to the ship beforehand (maybe order from ABC Liquors to make it easier). I had bought a couple of bottles from Shirley last time. She really didn't have a great selection and I ended up not caring for the ones she sent so it was kind of a waste. Besides, a couple of bottles wasn't enough to make a difference in the bar bill in the end anyway ;) .

karaeric
01-11-2006, 01:16 PM
Sorry folks, I meant to post clarification on this issue and forgot.

As far as I know, there is no change to brining wine on board with you. In May for the Repo cruise, we shipped a case to the ship and my parents carried another 1/2 case on with them. Very nice time was had by all, thank you very much!

What I meant by tougher rules was for the wine tasting events. DCL is charging for events like this now. No more freebies. So unless we want to all chip into a pot, we probably won't be able to do this one. For some reason, I want to say it was something like $10-12 per person? Or was that per bottle of wine? Can't exactly remember, but sort of defeats the purpose of bringing the wine on board. For that, we can all meet at one of the nice lounges and order a couple of glasses from the ship's selection. Just as easy.

Hope that helps. I know Stacey had more experience than I did in setting up the wine tasting on the last 10-day cruise.

Hmm, sounds like it! I don't mind paying that for one gathering, but not for multiple ones. So I guess for any of our gatherings we are just going to have to meet on one of the decks or find a quiet corner or something! Or maybe we will be lucky and someone will have a suite....

I am trying to remember the out-of-the-way area we found last summer. There weren't any tables or chairs, though, so maybe that isn't such a good idea. Would they kick us out of the movie theatre if it weren't being used at the time? I know we have wandered the ship from time to time and gone in there when it was empty. Maybe that would work.

I think the charge is really related to the event being organized through DCL and involving alcohol. The charge, if I remember correctly, was for staff to "work" the event. By working, they meant opening the wine, providing the glasses, and cleanup of the room used (and maybe covert observation of the age group attending so as to be legal?).

They haven't seemed to charge for cruisers wanting to set up a meet when the location was already staffed, like a special brunch at Palo or for the PJ breakfast. Nor have they had a problem with cruisers taking over areas that were not in use for an hour or so. The best example I know of there was the scrapbooking meet on the May cruise. They met in the Prominade Lounge mid-day when nothing was scheduled and nobody from DCL seemed to mind.

Bottom line here is that I don't think any of the gatherings we want to do would be a problem, with the possible exception of a wine tasting.

I am not that much of a wine drinker anyway so I won't miss a wine tasting. Now give me some Kahlua or Bailey's and that's another story!! :drinking1

DH saw the group pic from last year and I think he was quite surprised by how many DISers and family members there were! And DD wanted to know if any of the kids in the pic were going this year and were close to her age. I would like to know if anyone has girls (by this age I suspect boys may not want to hang around with the girls!) who will be around 10 or 11 in December who would like to maybe email other kids so that they might feel like they know each other by then. DD is so scared that she will be shy and she won't be able to make any friends. I know she will make friends, she always does, but maybe this would make her feel better before the cruise.

Kat, I believe the kids did their own picture, which is why you really don't see kids in this one. There were actually a lot more kids with this group than what you see here. :crowded:

Seriously, out the entire photo I only recognize about 10-15 faces and of them I only remember about 10 names.

I see Jeri (DIS name: Juletime) and Henry who were our table mates. They signed up for the '06 10 day, but I know they were wait listed for one of the repo cruises. I wonder if they are still coming? They made our Christmas Eve Dinner so special by Henry decorating and bringing all things that had to do with X-Mas customs from his country. What a night that was. Denise will remember the SHOTS!!! Some of us had one too many!

I offered the shipping instructions to a DCL cruiser on another board and someone replied that they would check the info with DCL... According to their subsequent post the "official" DCL response was that things could no longer be shipped to the ship but I don't know who they talked to (our friend Kelly at the warehouse? (321) 799-9100)? or some out-of-the-loop CM???)

We might have worn them out on the repo cruise...

Well, I just spent the most boring five hours getting re-certified for my CPR/Child First Aid. This one lady just kept blabbing and blabbing about her personal experience of every medical problem that was gone over in the class. I swear, she made the class go an hour longer. Wanted to strangle her.

Just stuffed my dinner down in about 3 seconds and am off to bed :faint:

Mary Ann, don't ya just love those folks? I was at a soccer league board meeting last night that was an hour longer than it should have been because some "maroon" kept questioning every little detail. I finally moved over by him and threatened to throttle him if he asked another question. ha ha, he giggled. My reply-"Do I look like I am smiling? I am missing Lost season premiere." That show will make you strange. ;)

Oh yeah- "maroon" is a Bugs Bunny term for moron.

Thank you,Sweetheart! Mom has been moved into an assisted living apartment and is doing really well...No more special bus to schedule and catch at a specific time for a Dr. appointment, no more grocery shopper to call, no more money to fumble with, no more up mobile home steps and down mobile home steps...Her thinking is much more clear and she's even telling jokes...

Now all I have to do is drive to California and empty her mobile home (estate sale, anyone?) and sell it. Good deal for someone who wants to live near the beach and lives on a fixed income but a pain in the rear to find them...
Otherwise I'm SO thankful that she's doing better....
and thanks for asking!

Yep, every time I go to a meeting, there's always ONE that LOVES to hear themself talk. And I know what you mean about being late for Lost. I stopped going to PTO Meetings at the beginning of this year 'cause they're on Thursday nights and it just interferred with Survivor. Priorities, ya know ;). Funny you should bring up Lost. I just ordered the first season on Netflix. Gotta keep myself busy watching something 'till season 2 of Desperate Housewives gets released ;) .

Speaking of PTO...I'm off

i am not into that show, lost. It looks to me like a hyped up reality show gone wrong. I am more a crime show girl. I only watch CSI, CSI: Miami, Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, and NCIS. don't watch much else because i am usually riding horses the rest of the time.

CSI, ER, House and Medium for me. Who has time to watch tv??? Heck, I have two shows that I taped this week and have no idea when I will get a chance to watch them.

DD is selling girl scout cookies, anybody want to buy some? :rotfl2: I hate cookie time beause it is always the parents who end up doing the selling, not the girls. :crazy2: They don't want the girls going door to door anymore. Heck, I still have 4 boxes in my freezer from last year!! But they are doing something new. They are promoting sending cookies to the troops and if someone buys a case (12 boxes, $36) they are giving cards that show a tax-deductible donation was made in that amount. That is kind of cool.

It was 58 and sunny here yesterday, gorgeous weather. I woke up to thunder this morning! It was 50 and pouring rain when I came to work and they say that by tomorrow morning we could have 1-3 inches of snow!!! :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2:

Oh well, back to work, I guess. :bored:

Woo hoo!! My 400th post on the DIS and it is on our board!

Stacey, 70??? I wish!!

No, I don't watch Survivor or any of the so called reality shows. DH watches House with me and then he will watch things on Discovery or History channels that have to do with WWII, guns, cool building projects, etc.

Poor DD. I picked her up from Latchkey yesterday and she started to cry when we got in the car. A couple of girls that she thought were her friends (she was "best friends" with one of them several weeks ago) had been bullying her. She said they kept following her and calling her names, grabbing her, etc. She wouldn't tell the teachers because she is afraid she will get bullied more. Ugh. I didn't go through that until I was in 7th or 8th grade but I feel her pain. Kids can be so cruel, can't they???

Hey Kat, I'll buy some of your cookies if you buy some of mine :rotfl2: . In our area it kinda stinks because we live on the line of two different GS Councils. Well, our council saw fit to raise the cookie prices by 50 cents a few years ago and the other council didn't. So I always get, "You're charging to much for the cookies", or "Why are your cookies more?" I have to explain the same thing about 20 times a year. I love the ones that say, "Well, I'm gonna buy them from so and so 'cause they're cheaper", with my dd standing right there. Every year I get at least one that says that. Umm, no thanks to the cookies would do :( .

We must be getting your weather a day later. Yesterday was 50, today is supossed to 58 and tomorrow is supposed rain. January thaw is here. I'm going skiing again for Feb break. I NEED SNOW HERE!!!!!!

Kat...one of the reasons I never wanted daughters....girls can be soooo mean. And so God gave me TWO of them! That'll teach me.

I sat both of mine down at an early age and warned them about how girls can be. And I begged them to never do that to other girls. The only thing that will help is to tell her that they are probably just jealous of her, and give her lots of TLC.

Girls are awful and they DO start so young now. In first grade the girls were dressing like Christine Agularia (sp?, don't care) with the disposition of Courtney Love.

My own sweet little neice is turning as mean as a snake. Julia worships the ground she walks on, after all she is 6 months older, and she treats her like crap. Actually she treats everyone like crap.

My dd's problem is she will make excuses for everyone. She just does not think badly of anyone, no matter what. It's a fine line to teach her to have a backbone but at the same time just walk away. DH is teaching her to box :sad2: , yup, he's good at making matters worse ::yes::

Mary Ann, it is hard for the kids not to dress like that when you go to the store and so many of the clothes for the little ones looks like prostitot wear! I hated it and am glad that style seems to have disappeared.

Hey, has anyone else with kids that go to the clubs seen the thread about the first night and parents having to stay with their kids unless the kids are old enough to sign themselves in and out? We were planning on letting Sam do that anyway but I don't like the fact that there won't be much supervision that night and the doors will be wide open. What does anyone else think about this issue?

We did the Jolly Roger in Antigua, and it is so much better than it sounds. You can swing from a rope off the ship and into the water...or walk the plank. They have a smaller boat that will take people to the beach right near where they anchor. Kids can swim, play in the sand....there are people there renting jet skis and other water toys. There's a fort nearby that you can walk up to....
It was fun. And we got back to port in time to shop in town.

The Brig Unicorn in St Lucia filled up faster than you can say "Arrggg, Matey"....but those who went said they had a blast.

The Kayak and Snorkel adventure on Antigua was fantastic. The operator was very nice, very organized and we had a blast. I will warn you that it eats up most of your day because of the transporation time to and from their location.

As for St. Lucia, I can certainly tell you what we didn't like. We tried the Waterfall Island Bike Tour. :scared: is all I can say. Totally bummed out. The bikes were in bad shape, the "waterfall" was not all that exciting, and the bike ride was pretty boring if you're looking for a real mtn biking experience. Now, I'm not a mtn biker by any stretch, but even I was disappointed. Tour operator was not great either.

Cool, thanks!!

The Brig Unicorn is the one from Pirates of the Caribbean, yes??? I want to do that one!!!

And I really want to see the volcano that you can drive through so I may have to do that tour even if no one else wants to. DH will probably want to do the scuba tour. He is starting a scuba class at the YMCA the week after next and hopes to do at least one excursion.

Oooh Kat, good for your DH! My hubbie and I will be bringing some of our gear and will be doing lots of scuba diving on this trip. We would be happy to buddy up with him. You don't want to dive?

We didn't dive on the last 10-day cruise and were disappointed that we didn't. We may even research some non-Disney dive excursions. Sometimes the operators that do the cruise excursions are so conservative, you don't have a good experience.

Hey all!! Happy Friday the 13th.

Girls aargh. I'm there with you guys in that one. DD got another dose of it this week. "I'm having a birthday party but you can't come" was the statement. "well I wanted you to come but I didn't have enough room"
Ok then just shut up kid.DD is taking all well.

Hey can you east coasters help her out. Maybe Julia or one of the other kids...we are collecting quarters and don't see many of the "P"(Philadelphia)mint out here. Maybe we could set up a trade. We'll collect the "D"(Denver) mint for somebody if they want. Paul and I thought it would be a great little hobby for her, and on the cruise she can have the fun of filling her book with the missing coins.

Off to work out. Check in later. oh 4 pounds this week. :cool1: Sorry just had to pat my own back. :goodvibes

Kara, no, I am not a real water person. He fell in love with snorkeling on our first DCL cruise in 2002 and went in Cozumel and again at CC in 2004. Now he is going to take a scuba class because he has always wanted to. I am sure that he'd probably like to have someone to go with on those types of excursions as I won't.

The only time I have ever tried snorkeling was at Typhoon Lagoon. The water was cold and I could not catch my breath, much less try to breathe through the snorkel tube, so I gave up. DH doesn't like being in the water, so I doubt we will be doing any snorkeling on the cruise. We will go for the land excursions, and we have to do some type of pirate ship. pirate:

Good Morning All.

Denise, I will look around. Jimmy collects coins, but I'm not sure if he's doing the state quarters. I saw on the news the other night how the new nickels are, for the first time ever, not showing the president in profile. Instead showing his pitcure portrait style.

Congrats on the 4 pounds :cool1: . You should pat yourself on the back, it's hard work.

We did the Brig Unicorn excursion. It was fun and the pirate mates played with the kids the entire time. They were exceptional. If you have a 5-10 YO boy, it would probably be his dream day. DH went golfing. He wishes he had just done it on his own. They put his excursion with another one and people were late so the golfers had to just sit around and wait. He said they wasted so much time. If he had just grabbed a cab over to the course and joined a foursome he would have been there at least two hours earlier. Golfers, as a rule, don't like to tee off at 11:00am, especially when it's gonna be 90 degrees.

Kara, that's a bummer about the bike tour. It really stinks when you spend that kind of money and it doesn't begin to live up to expectations. I'm not much into the spa except for that capsule thingy. I am a cronic insomiac (especially on vacation not being in my own bed) and it really does work for me. I have had some negative experiences both times I cruises DCL with the massage people so I'm just gonna skip it. DH, however, loves it and goes for at least a few massages. I haven't seen the new list of services, maybe it could change my mind :scratchin

Well, it must be a full moon, 'cause dd came off the bus in tears yesterday. Well, Racheal is having a sleepover and invited Michele and Ashley and not her and they were talking in the bus line about how much fun they were gonna have, and (sob, sob) they are not even gonna miss me (sob, sob, sob, sob) even though we all play together at recess.......................Had to chuckle 'cause we had just talked about all this. So, I just had her call one of friends for a sleepover. Can't wait for High School

Morning. I didn't sleep well at all last night. I tossed and turned and could not get to sleep even though I was soooo tired because I could not get comfortable no matter which way I was laying down. I finally took some tylenol pm and went to sleep after that kicked in. then dd woke me up at 7:30 and I could not get back to sleep (same issue as last night) so I gave up.

We are going down to Indy today. I need books and we are trying to find a nice cabinet for all of our movies and can't find any here in town. And I am going to the Disney Store!!! Hoping they still have some sales since the Disney Deals auctions on ebay hasn't had any great after holiday sales.

It is very cold feeling this morning (haven't checked the temp yet) and I could hear the wind howling all last night, but at least the threatened snow never appeared!!

We only did the dolphin swin(dd5 and I). Didn't like it much. It was the first time DCL used this excursion and I don't know if it will be offered again. Too many people.

We really want to do the pirate cruise and some more excursions this time. We just found our way to the beach last cruise and always ran into other people from the ship there. We were really limited due to dd2.
