hey it was the only way to keep virgin eyes from seeing it. Most people should have guessed what was coming and therefore can read the hidden text. If you didn't figure out what was in the hidden text before highlighting it...you are probably to young to read it. lol. HAHA! oh i can just picture the stories you guys are gonna tell my mom. lol.

Welcome fast43. I am doing Disney Christmas stockings for each party in the group. I am putting a DIS name on the top. You have your choice of the following characters: Hercules, 101 Dalmations, 7 dwarves, Cinderella, Dumbo, Lady and the Tramp, Peter Pan.

Hope you had a Great 18th Birthday!!!
Well, DH went out and bought a new computer yesterday (tax free weekend here in Mass) and I'm not sure I like it. Can't find half my stuff and my email account isn't up yet. Supposed to be the latest version of everything imaginable....guess I just don't like change
Had a great time at the CLP DIS Meet yesterday. Beautiful weather and great crowd :grouphug: .

Welcome fast43. :thumbsup2
Congrats on the new computer Bubbles.
I set to work to clear out the dead from my garden today. Where does all that stuff come from and how did it survive the heat we had? Cockroaches and weeds.
New drink for this weekend. Heinekin Light. I know I know but hey if I can't have a light hiney I might as well drink one right? :lmao: :lmao:
Bed time. Sleep tight all.

Morning all! Had a good weekend in Chicago, though I did NOT get to see POTC II, Mary Ann! Brought the first one and fell asleep watching it Saturday night then watched the first hour two more times Sunday morning because the portable DVD player will not ff and I had gotten an hour into it when DD woke up and asked me to start it over! LOL.
Took her to the American Girl store where she got her doll. Went to the Disney store on Michigan Avenue. Same as all the other Children's Place owned ones, just bigger and still has all the stuff from when it was owned by Disney. Sam got a Marie (the kitten from Aristocats) as a pirate stuffed cat. Cute but silly. I got a POTC II figures playset with six small figures on what look like puzzle pieces so you can set them up in different configurations as if they were sword fighting. They are now in my office at work.
I overslept this morning and got up at 6:45 (usually get up around 5:30) but got to work on time anyway! I am exhausted, though. Need caffeine :surfweb: but not going to happen. Oh well.
Mary Ann, Sam got the package from Julia and was really excited. She sent her an email right away! Thank you!

Gateway AMD Athlon 64X2 Processor 4600+, nVIDIA GeForce 6100 Intergrated Graphis, 400GB Hard Drive, 2048 MB DDR Memory, blah, blah, blah
Yes, I'm just reading the label.
The thing is we got this so DH could start playing his game (EverQuest) again, since our old one wasn't good enough to support the graphics anymore, and Nephew can't download the game  . Heck, after eight hours, he can't even get his email account up. He sure can eat alot though :goodvibes

Sounds like a fun weekend, Kat.
I'll let Julia know she got the pkg. Heaven knows when we will get your message :confused3 , but when everything IS all set, Julia will have her own account. Poor Sam's messages won't get lost in my 50 emails a day :guilty: . Also, Julia LOVES Maria too. She has about 4 of her. Got another one this past trip. Have fun with your POTC II Playset....don't get caught configur-ing at work :lmao: .

No, they know all about my obsession here! H have a large poster of CJS on the inside window of my cubicle, two CJS figures on my shelf, Jack's compass plus two of the McDonald's toys that Sam gave to me! They just shake their heads and go on  . I even got a stuffed monkey that looks similar to the one in the movie. One of the girls at work and I have gotten to be friends and we share this obsession (we both have slideshow screensavers with lots of pics) and she and her girls went with us this weekend. Anyway, when we have a rough day we talk about wanting to find that undead monkey so we can shoot it! Now we have the monkey (I got her one too), just need a toy pistol! I want to try to get to the local costume shop in the next day or so and see if they have any. Even though we are in the same building it's a good thing she sits halfway across the building or else we'd drive the guys in the group nuts!

Ok, so I am trying to get an idea of how dressed up folks in our group are going to be for Pirate night. For those who have late dinner seating, who is dressing up for dinner? If not for dinner, how about for the party afterwards? Just wondering if I should try to dress up or not. I found all kinds of costume stuff, including the boot tops, at our local costume store today when I bought a toy pirate pistol to go with my "undead monkey" in my office.

Which doll did she get? I have Felicity (which they discontinued) a look-alike who has blonde hair and gray eyes (we ordered hazel but by the time they processed my order they had switched to gray instead of hazel...should have just gone with green cause my eyes are definitely green nowawdays... :sad2: ) and I got Kit when she came out.

Hey Kat, we have early seating but I still felt the need to tell you about my pirate outfit. :p Holly and I are pretty much going all out...and Hayley is going...half out. Lol...Hayley and I got the same kind of corset/pirate shirt, Holly and I have the same kind of boots with buckles all over them, Hayley has some different kind of piratey boots, and I am also getting a "peasant" shirt that I think will also serve well for a pirate. ;) Here's a picture of the corset thing I was talking about, I got them at hot topic.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/KPAngel/Corset002.jpg
Hayley's is a tad different though. It has fuschia accents and it hooks up in the front (mine zips up in the back.) If you want, I can give you the link to where I found the other shirt I will be wearing under this.

She picked out one of the regular dolls (not the historic ones) and two outfits (my dad gave her some birthday money so she used that to buy one of the outfits). She really likes her doll. Maybe I should make a pirate outfit for the doll, eh??
Found a toy pirate pistol so now I can shoot my undead monkey at work! :thumbsup2
No, don't think I want a corset, but thanks anyway :) . I have a long sleeve shirt I made years ago that would work but not sure I want long sleeves and still not sure I really want to go in costume. Gotta think on that one. I know DH won't. Not even sure I can talk him into a pirate t-shirt for the party later! pirate: :rotfl:

Still undecided what I am doing for Pirate Night, Kat. If I happen upon a decent costume at a decent price I will dress up for sure. Last time I got a cool pirate T-shirt and some boxers w/skull and crossbones across the butt and had blinking skull earrings & necklace. I had to run back to my cabin and change quickly and did miss some of the show (mostly because we stayed blabbing after dinner too long, not because there is not enough time in between).
Just an FYI with the long sleeves......Once you sail past Puerto Rico, the weather turned very tropical, very humid.
BTW, love the corset, Heidi

you might want to return that....you will not get any weapon fake or otherwise through security (checked or carry on) unless you are law enforcement. Since our terror alert is red....and is likely to stay red for quite some time....all kinds of things have been banned...inlcuding electronics on some flights. Those of you with little kids might want to stock up on coloring books and crayons.

Yup, Heidi is right, it is in my office with the undead monkey. Besides, I am sure that by December things will have calmed back down. As it is, I am annoyed because I am flying to Canada in a month and I was really hoping not to have to check anything but it looks like I will have to now. Oh well. C'est la vie.

Her birthday isn't until Monday but that is the first day of classes for DH so we will leave Thursday night and get a hotel so we can get up Friday morning and not be tired by the time we get there (it is about a 3 hour drive for us) and spend the day playing in the water. We got stuck out at the parking lot for a while because they shut down all traffic near the airport, including the shuttles to and from the parking! Ugh, what a pain that was. Yay, a top for me!!!
We had a great day yesterday. :sunny: Took DD to the water park at King's Island. it started out really hot so the water felt great. it got cloudy and occasionally dropped a few sprinkles on us but nothing major. By about 3:00 it was thundering a little but not enough to shut the place down but we were about down so we got dressed and went into the park where they rode one roller coaster before DD got a massive headache so we headed home. It was a nice, relaxing day with no deadlines, no pressure. Really enjoyable. :goodvibes

Went to the drive-in this weekend. Saw Barnyard and Talledaga. Barnyard was cute (um, is there such a thing as a male cow :scratchin :rolleyes1 :confused3 ). Talledaga was pretty funny. Does anyone know...Is Will Farrell Mike Farrell's (MASH) son? They look alike.

Well, after "grazing" the Allrecipes website and being a little depressed (as she drowns her sorrows in a pint of Ben & Jerry's) about the weight I have NOT been able to loose after the WDW vacation, time to start looking into those new fangled diets.......
THE PASTA DIET
1. You walka pasta da bakery.
2. You walka pasta da candy store.
3. You walka pasta da Ice Cream shop.
4. You walka pasta da table and the frig.
And for those of you who watch what they eat, here is the final word on nutrition and health. It's comforting to know the truth after all the conflicting medical studies:
1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
4. The Italians drink excessive amounts of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
5. The Germans drink lots of beer and eat lots of sausage and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
CONCLUSION:
Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you :teeth: .

DD liked her first day of school. :teacher: Said her teacher is nice, which is good.
DH has carpet cleaners coming in tonight to get the stains out of the carpets. We have that done every fall and it is about time.
My brother is coming into town tomorrow. He will be here until Monday evening. He will take Mom to Indy on Friday and she is going to take us all to dinner on Saturday to this great Japanese place here in town. Should be fun.
DH got the wheelchair lift in DM's van last night. got her a full size van and he spent yesterday installing a wheelchair lift so we don't have to have to lift her heavy wheelchair in and out of his 4x4 or SIL's minivan. It is an older van but it has a new engine with only 10,000 miles on the engine. Mom is really happy about it. Pretty neat, really, even if it only gets about 15 miles a gallon it is good for SIL who takes care of her becaus it means less stress on her back. :goodvibes

We are going to do Palo brunch, not worry about dinner. Jen's page isn't working right now or we might be able to use that to guess from the schedule from the last time.
I already know we are going to do the morning Brig Unicorn on St Lucia. Are you going to join us on that Dee? There are several of us going on that excursion. DH is doing all the scuba excursions so won't be seeing much of him on shore says I fear. Not sure about other islands. I am doing the museums on my own on Key West as they are cheaper that way. Not sure what to see on Antigua, St Thomas or St Maarten but I am excited that 9/17 is quickly approaching! I will be getting cruise paid off before then so I can do all my booking!!!! And doing it with my Disney rewards card so I will get $$ for spending on the cruise (hey, $1 for every $100 I put on the card adds up when you are paying off a cruise!!!!).

We went to dinner to celebrate at a local winery. The cousins went to play in the vineyard while waiting for dinner. I followed them for a while and took some pictures. When they came back to the outdoor dining area the owner promptly escorted the group to wash as they had climbed into an area that was surrounded by poision oak. Lucky for us no one had any problems. :duck:
We talked about wanting to do the Brig Unicorn too. And trying to figure out what else looked interesting and fun.
Do we have a list going of what others are doing? I can set one up on yahoo if you want me to.
Let me know. The site is super easy to use and members can add their own information.

If you go to Jen's site and click Onboard, then Excursions and Group Activities, then Ports of Call, then go to the day in question. There are hyperlinks for things we have listed.
Jen, on St. Lucia folks are doing the Brig Unicorn and you don't have a link for that yet.
We haven't decided on a date/time yet for the ornament exchange and we need to do that.

I found the greatest buttons on cafepress. They have a red image of the undead monkey and they say undead monkey so I got one for my stuffed monkey at work so no more questions about why I have a monkey in my office that I occasionally shoot at with the toy pirate gun!!!

Hi all - I checked out the list on Jen's site. Wow JEN thanks there is a bunch of new stuff on there since my last visit.
I have set up a page on yahoo. It is very easy to use if anyone is interested. Yahoo has a calendar and allows you to organize information in several different ways with one entry. With a group as large as ours (fabulusks) :grouphug: and all of us first time cruisers with Disney, we are trying to coordinate and plan the most fun. We don't want to miss out on one MAGICAL experience.
Please feel free to enter events, activities, meets and plans into the calendar.:thumbsup2

I am going to go to the pirate museum on Key West but I think I am going to do it myself rather than go on the excursion, cheaper and I can do it on my own timeline rather than on theirs.

I think Jen had some designs but Garry was going to get them printed and bring them down with him. With Garry not on our cruise that leaves us without someone to get them printed. We could always go through Disney shopping but they have limited choices and cost more. I don't think we had really even decided on color yet!
Personally, I like the color of this guy's hair :scared1: , white or bright red. I don't do well with green unless it is a nice Kelly or forest green and yellow and orange are right out!

Angela - You need to make ressies at midnight the night of Oct. 1. I had it on my calendar (now crossed off  ) We used to go to Wapato Point at Lake Chelan during spring break when we had a timeshare; been quite a while since we were there. DD is heading up today to the Gorge Amphitheatre for Dave Matthews (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). She is joining a big group of people she has met online (who ever heard of such a thing?!); they have 22 campsites reserved at Vantage.
Just one more week for me to get ready for my revised cruise date of 9/7! There are about 75 cabins of DISer's on that cruise! Wine tasting in the Roy and a few other meets scheduled.
Well we lost another kitty last night. Except this time we know what happened - she was attacked by coyotes and died on the way to the hospital. I suspect that is what happened to my cat that I lost in April. This one was DD's cat; she had just moved out last week and was planning to pick up her two cats on Monday. This is so hard for me - NO MORE PETS! I just can't handle it.
Well just wanted to pop in and say hi.

Hi Sam! Welcome to our group! :welcome:
Be sure to go to contact Jen to get yourself added to our list. She is DCLgodess and she has a site with all kinds of info for our cruise. If you send her your names, dining time, room number, etc she can add you to the list on her site and we can add you to stuff.
Also if you let me know your preference for a stocking (I think at this point I have Hercules, 101 Dalmations, Dumbo and the 7 Dwarves left) you will get a stocking with your DIS name on it to hang on the fish outside your door. This is something a couple of us on the thread are doing for the group.
We are trying to plan some group activities but haven't gotten very far yet (ornament exchange, DIS tag, etc). There are a number of us going on the morning Brig Unicorn excursion on St. Lucia and there are a number of people going on scuba excursions if you are into that.
Anyway, that is an intro to what we have going on so welcome to our group!!

Hi Kat, Mary Ann and Heidi and thanks for the welcome :sunny:
Yeah Paul (DH) and I have cruised Disney a few times - 3 day Magic (Paul did this before he met me), 4 day Wonder (2003), 7-night Eastern twice (once for our honeymoon and a 7 night Western for our 1st Anniversary.
We live in the UK so we're also booked on an 11-nighter Med next year.
We booked this Holiday cruise an eternity ago and it's felt like it was never going to get here and now we're only days away from being able to book dining and excursions which is so much fun.
OMG Kat - the stockings sound adorable Dumbo sounds wonderful.
I really need to scope out the excursions because Paul and I are not big beach people and sadly Paul doesn't swim so this rules out a lot for us - although I love boat trips I just wouldn't want Paul to be board, you know?
Anyway I'm excited to have found this thread :cheer2:

If you go to the DCL site they have most of the excursions listed (though not the times yet). We got our pre-cruise kit but it only has St. Maarten, St. Thomas/St. John and Castaway Cay excursions. Nothing listed for Key West, St. Lucia or Antigua. Additionally, if you go to the Onboard section of Jen's site and choose Navigators you can see the Navigators from the last 10 day holiday cruise. We don't know for sure what night the formal night will be but if they do them on the same island or sea days as the last time it would probably be the first sea day (2nd day of the cruise or December 18) and the day we are in Antigua (December 22). At least those are the two days they did formal nights the last time and that is all we really have to go by at this time.
I will put the Dumbo stocking aside for you.
My DD(10) is also named Sam! Looks like there are at least three female Sam's of varying ages in the group! The rest of my family is myself and DH Dave.

Sam, if you look at Jen's page on the Cruise portion where the DISers are listed and you wonder what the last column is about, that is our island list :sunny: . The ladies have been playing this game. It is a list of five guys who you'd choose to be stranded on a deserted island with. You cannot have people that are on someone else's island and you can choose one fictional character (hence my list including Jack Sparrow). So if you want to inlcude those on your listing you can let Jen know that too. Just thought I'd let you know about that. It is just a bit of silliness that the ladies have been indulging in :smokin:

I've been busy reading up on excursions and I think Paul is about to go mad at me as I keep telling him that we can't pre-book anything unless we have paid in full - LOL he's like "yes you've told me already".
I really hope that we can pay in full next week so that I can get my act together on the pre-booking for Palo's more than anything else LOL

I will be paying ours off this week so I can book our Palo brunch (10:30 am on Christmas eve day for the group if you want to join us) and our excursions. The only one I REALLY want to do is the Brig Unicorn. DD10 wants to do that one. DH is going to be scuba diving at every chance so it will be mostly myself and DD on the excursions.
DH is getting ready to hit the rode on his motorcycle to go over to Ohio today so I will be dropping DD and her friend off and running errands, etc. Hmm, maybe another viewing of POTC II????? :confused3 pirate:

Hello Everyone:
We are still around just hardly posting. I was wondering if anyone knows if DCL normally has any plans for Christmas morning and if so, what time they usually do things. I have read somewhere that in the past they have had a Santa Claus hand out presents to the children. Does anyone know if this is true and approximately what time it may happen? Our cruises are paid in full and I have been busy booking excursions but I didn't want to have something booked on Castaway Cay too early if something is happening for the children on the ship. Any ideas?
Looking forward to meeting everyone. It is getting so close now. We actually start our vacation in 96 days because we are spending a week in WDW prior to the cruise.
We are having beautiful weather for the long weekend and are heading out to the lake for the afternoon. We will roast weiners and marshmallows for supper while we are out there. Take care and enjoy the rest of your summer.

Hi Sandra!!! Glad to see you are still around. I am starting to work on the stockings so I will definitely be getting yours done!!!!!!
I don't know if they do anything on Christmas morning but I am sure that one of the folks on here will know.
Hi Kat:
We are most definitely still around. Have been very busy with my new job which has invaded on time to read the Disboards somewhat but I am still here. Back in June I received a promotion to Chief Financial Officer of our local unniversity/college. I have worked there as a Business Administration instructor since 1987 so this job is quite a change.
I just emailed Jen because I noticed on the website that my family members' names weren't listed. I must have missed emailing that information to her. I also shared our recent news with Jen. We have just found out that DCL will do a vow renewal ceremony for us in celebration of our 25th anniversary so we are very excited about that. Just waiting to hear what the date will be. Our anniversary is on December 12 but I am thinking the date for our ceremony with DCL will be either December 18 or 19. We have reserved our supper on the 12th at Cinderella's Castle. We spent our 24th anniversary there as well. They do a nice job.
We are heading out to the lake now so I best go.
Take care.

Yep, did the same today too, Kat. I'd like to say it feels great to have it paid off, but actually, just put it on the CC and still won't be paid off for a few months
As far as the shirts, I'll go with what ever everyone decides. I'm in for an adult large. Just post the cost and I'll mail payment right away.
Sandra, congrats on your new job and on your 25th. What a great way to celebrate.
The Santa Scoop; Yes, Santa does hand out gifts to the children on Christmas Morn. Last year it was from 9:30AM - 11AM. I have to warn you, the last two times I cruised for Christmas, the line was very long. Goes past the end of Lumieres, down to the Gingerbread House, sometimes into the lounge area. For those that want to get off the ship early for CC, I would suggest to get in line at least 1/2 before the posted start time. Once it is your turn, you visit with Santa, get an age appropriate gift, photo op and that's it. Pretty quick once your turn has arrived.

Yeah, I put mine on the Disney Visa so I get the extra $$ to spend on the cruise but I will be paying it off into next year I am sure!!!
If DD wants to see Santa on Christmas morning we will get in line but she may not want to stand in line to do that. I personally would rather stand in line to see Jack Sparrow for a pic, but that's just me  pirate: .
I wish we knew when the on-board activities were so we could schedule our ornament exchange and things like that. Definitely want to do the gingerbread house!!!
Mary Ann, got your stocking done yesterday. I am slowly working on them! For anyone who hasn't told me which character you want, please pm me and I can let you know what is left, etc. I need to get some more iron-on paper and paint to finish them. Maybe I will do that this afternoon. I didn't get to take lunch so I am leaving work early today.

Thanks for doing my stocking, Kat. I appreciate it :) .
Perhaps there could be a Jack Sparrow dressed in a jingle suit :confused3 . Just getting a mental pitcure....... :rotfl:
Gingerbread House Design scoop; On the last 10 Day, registration was on Monday (Sea Day) and the workshop was on Tuesday (also Sea Day). Both sign up and the workshop was at 10:15AM. This activity was a blast. Julia definately wants to do it again.
I know last time we did the ornament exchange on a port day and some people were late because of their excursion. Perhaps a Sea Day in early afternoon would be better?????
I dug out all my navigators, so if anyone has any questions (activites, themes for dinner/clubnights and such) I'd be happy to look it up for you.

Yeah, we don't get much in the way of overtime so if we don't get our lunch break my boss generally lets us leave early. He's a pretty nice guy.
Jack Sparrow in a santa hat??? hmmm, having trouble picturing that one....
Of course there will be the obligatoory screenings of whichever of the POTC movies they show on pirate night, etc! pirate:
Yes, I think a sea day would be better for the ornament exchange. We should probably have some sort of signup sheet for that, eh?

Hi everyone,
Just popping in for a quick hello. I've been trying to read this thread as often as I can to try to keep up--I just don't post much.
Paid off at the end of August. Was able to book at 105 days out since we snagged a suite. Booked Palo brunch and one excursion--Capt. Nautica in St Thomas (did it last 10 night Christmas cruise and loved it). This will be our first time trying Palo. We only want to try the brunch. I don't want to leave the kids alone (even though they are older) just to eat dinner there. I like eating dinner all together.
We'll be in double digits soon!!
Jen--I'll send you our new room #.

Hi All - I have been looking at the excursions and am feeling alittle overwhelmed. Any recommendations for first timers? Also, I thought they had horseback riding at St. Lucia but I cannot find it now. HELP!! We can't book until the 75 day mark but I am trying to figure out what is fun and what we shouldn't miss.
One other question DS is 7 and will be 7 1/2 at cruise time. He can swim. Do you think we will be able to do the banana boat ride at CC?

Dreams Unlimited has this listed for St. Lucia:
Horseback Riding Adventure (3 - 3.5. hours)
You'll be taken on a 30 minute motor coach ride to the Belle Cheval Stables. Once here, you'll receive instructions while having your riding ability assessed. A carefully trained horse will be selected for you and you'll begin your excursion. Helpful guides will accompany you for the two hours you'll spend traversing the terrain. Your outing includes a visit to the beach. While here, you can either ride your horse along the waters edge or go for a swim. It's your choice as you enjoy an unforgettable day in paradise riding a magnificent steed.
Price: $85.00 (ages 12 and up)
Here is their site with links to the excursions for the 10 day holiday cruise:
http://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/cruise/excursion_info.htm
For the banana boat ride you would need to check with DCL but I think they are pretty strict on the age restrictions.

DCL is like a brick wall with ages. Here's the example that makes divers mad...
PADI minimum age is 10 for a certification...
DCL minimum age for diving is 12...
so 10 and 11 year old divers CANNOT go...nomatter how hard you beg..
i only say that because we tried with my sister

Hey, Kat....Did you see the pitcure of the Disney Crocs on the main board?
Yeah, but those are only the colored ones, not the theme ones :( I want to see what the POTC ones look like! Have you seen the little charm things you can put in the holes of Crocs? They have a skull and cross bones one! DD loves her crocs. If the Disney ones are available around here I may break down and get myself some before the cruise but I don't own any right now.

Julia loves hers too. She finally broke down and got a pair when we returned from WDW this summer. It's funny, about three years ago we saw them at an outlet store in N. Conway, NH dirt cheap and Julia & I both said, "Those are so ugly, who would wear those". Now we both do, and yes, we get made fun of :confused3 by some of our friends telling us how ugly they are.
I love the little inserts they have for Crocs. It's one of those simple ideas someone is making a fortune off of!
