Well I got my CafePress order today!LOL
Unfortunately, the stein has the wrong thing on it!
The mug wasn't there!
But the Camisole and the Thong are OK!
So is the Hoodie! Lightweight so DD will be able to wear in the Summer!
The tiles and magnets look awesome!
I called them regarding the stein and the missing mug, that's when I found out this is the first order!LOL She told me just to keep the other stuff, if and when it arrives!
I love receiving surprises! The stein has a comic strip on it! Have never seen it but apparently from princess.com! and deals with money!LOL

Went to the eye doctor this morning and for the first time ever, I don't need a different perscription. And the condo insurance lady just called and is processing my claim. And I got new dishes finally, that all match! Woo Hoo!!!
Hmmm, All I have to do for the cruise:
Order Lanyards and send PMs regarding payment

In honor (honour) of Arlene:
Nightmare Tech Support
Monday
8:05am
User called to say they forgot password. Told them to use password retrieval utility called FDISK. Blissfully ignorant, they thank me and hang up. God, we let the people vote and drive, too?
8:12am
Accounting called to say they couldn't access expense reports database. Gave them Standard Sys Admin Answer #112, "Well, it works for me." Let them rant and rave while I unplugged my coffeemaker from the UPS and plugged their server back in. Suggested they try it again. One more happy customer...
8:14 am
User from 8:05 call said they received error message "Error accessing Drive C." Told them it was an OS problem. Transferred them to microsupport.
11:00 am
Relatively quiet for last few hours. Decide to plug support phone back in so I can call my husband. Says parents are coming into town this weekend. Put him on hold and transferred him to janitorial closet down in basement. What is he thinking? The "Myst" and "Doom" nationals are this weekend!
11:34 am
Another user calls (do they ever learn?). Says they want ACL changed on HR performance review database so that nobody but HR can access
database. Tell them no problem. Hang up. Change ACL. Add @MailSend so performance reviews are sent to */ALL.
12:00 pm
Lunch
3:30 pm
Return from lunch.
3:55 pm
Wake up from nap. Bad dream makes me cranky. Bounce servers for no reason. Return to napping.
4:23 pm
Yet another user calls. Wants to know how to change fonts on form. Ask them what chip set they're using. Tell them to call back when they find out.
4:55 pm
Decide to run "Create Save/Replication Conflicts" macro so next shift has something to do.
Tuesday
8:30 am
Finish reading support log from last night. Sounded busy. Terrible time with Save/Replication conflicts.
9:00 am
Support manager arrives. Wants to discuss my attitude. Click on PhoneNotes SmartIcon. "Love to, but kinda busy. Put something in the calendar database!" I yell as I grab for the support lines, which have (mysteriously) lit up. Walks away grumbling.
9:35 pm
Team leader from R&D needs ID for new employee. Tell them they need form J-19R=9C9\\DARR\K1. Say they never heard of such a form. Tell them it's in the SPECIAL FORMS database. Say they never heard of such a database. Transfer them to janitorial closet in basement.
10:00 am
Perky sounding intern from R&D calls and says she needs new ID. Tell her I need employee number, department name, manager name, and marital status. Run @DbLookup against state parole board database, Centers for Disease Control database, and my Oprah Winfrey database. No hits. Tell her ID will be ready tonight. Drawing from the lessons learned in last week's "Reengineering for Customer Partnership," I offer to
personally deliver ID to her apartment.
10:07 am
Janitor stops by to say he keeps getting strange calls in basement. Offer to train him on Notes. Begin now. Let him watch console while I grab a smoke.
1:00 pm
Return from smoking break. Janitor says phones kept ringing, so he transferred them to cafeteria lady. I like this guy.
1:05 pm
Big commotion! Support manager falls in hole left where I pulled floor tiles outside his office door. Stress to him importance of not running in computer room, even if I do yell "Omigod -- Fire!"
1:15 pm
Development Standards Committee calls and complains about umlauts in form names. Apologizing for the inconvenience, I tell them I will fix
it. Hang up and run global search/replace using gaks.
1:20 pm
Mary Hairnet from cafeteria calls. Says she keeps getting calls for "Notice Loads" or "NoLoad Goats," she's not sure, couldn't hear over industrial-grade blender. Tell her it was probably "Lettuce Nodes." Maybe the food distributor with a new product? She thinks about it and hangs up.
2:00 pm
Legal secretary calls and says she lost password. Ask her to check in her purse, floor of car, and on bathroom counter. Tell her it probably fell out of back of machine. Suggest she put duct tape over all the airvents she can find on the PC. Grudgingly offer to create new ID for her while she does that.
2:49 pm
Janitor comes back. Wants more lessons. I take off rest of day.
Wednesday
8:30 am
Irate user calls to say chipset has nothing to do with fonts on form. Tell them Of course, they should have been checking "Bitset," not "chipset." Sheepish user apologizes and hangs up.
9:10am
Support manager, with foot in cast, returns to office. Schedules 10:00am meeting with me. User calls and wants to talk to support manager about terrible help at support desk. Tell them manager about to go into meeting. Sometimes life hands you material...
10:00 am
Call Louie in janitorial services to cover for me. Go to support manager's office. He says he can't dismiss me but can suggest several lateral career moves. Most involve farm implements in third-world countries with moderate to heavy political turmoil. By and by, I ask if he's aware of new bug which takes full-text indexed random e-mail databases and puts all references to furry handcuffs and Bambi Boomer in Marketing on the corporate Web page. Meeting is adjourned as he reaches for keyboard, Web browser, and Tums.
10:30 am
Tell Louie he's doing great job. Offer to show him mainframe corporate PBX system sometime.
11:00 am
Lunch.
4:55 pm
Return from lunch.
5:00 pm
Shift change; Going home.
Thursday
8:00 am
New guy ("Marvin") started today. "Nice plaids" I offer. Show him server room, wiring closet, and technical library. Set him up with IBM PC-XT. Tell him to quit whining, Notes runs the same in both monochrome and color.
8:45 am
New guy's PC finishes booting up. Tell him I'll create new ID for him. Set minimum password length to 64. Go grab smoke.
9:30 am
Introduce Louie the custodian to Marvin. "Nice plaids" Louie comments. Is this guy great or what?!
11:00 am
Beat Louie in dominos game. Louie leaves. Fish spare dominos out of sleeves ("Always have backups"). User calls, says Accounting server
is down. Untie Ethernet cable from radio antenna (better reception) and plug back into hub. Tell user to try again. Another happy customer!
11:55 am
Brief Marvin on Corporate Policy 98.022.01: "Whereas all new employee beginning on days ending in 'Y' shall enjoy all proper aspects with said corporation, said employee is obligated to provide sustenance and relief to senior technical analyst on shift." Marvin doubts. I point to "Corporate Policy" database (a fine piece of work, if I say so myself!). "Remember, that's DOUBLE pepperoni and NO peppers!" I yell to Marvin as he steps over open floor tile to get to exit door.
1:00 pm
Oooooh! Pizza makes me so sleepy...
4:30 pm
Wake from refreshing nap. Catch Marvin scanning want ads.
5:00 pm
Shift change. Flick HR's server off and on several times (just testing the On/Off button...). See ya tomorrow.
Friday
8:00 am
Night shift still trying to replace power supply in HR server. Told them it worked fine before I left.
9:00 am
Marvin still not here. Decide I might start answering these calls myself. Unforward phones from Mailroom.
9:02 am
Yep. A user call. Users in Des Moines can't replicate. Me and the Oiuji board determine it's sunspots. Tell them to call Telecommunications.
9:30 am
Good God, another user! They're like ants. Says he's in San Diego and can't replicate with Des Moines. Tell him it's sunspots, but with a two-hour difference. Suggest he reset the time on the server back two hours.
10:17 am
Pensacola calls. Says they can't route mail to San Diego. Tell them to set server ahead three hours.
11:00 am
E-mail from corporate says for everybody to quit resetting the time on their servers. I change the date stamp and forward it to Milwaukee.
11:20 am
Finish @CoffeeMake macro. Put phone back on hook.
11:23 am
Milwaukee calls, asks what day it is.
11:25 am
Support manager stops by to say Marvin called in to quit. "So hard to get good help..." I respond. Support manager says he has appointment
with orthopedic doctor this afternoon, and asks if I mind sitting in on the weekly department head meeting for him. "No problem!"
11:30 am
Call Louie and tell him opportunity knocks and he's invited to a meeting this afternoon. "Yeah, sure. You can bring your snuff" I tell him.
12:00 am
Lunch.
1:00 pm
Start full backups on UNIX server. Route them to device NULL to make them fast.
1:03 pm
Full weekly backups done. Man, I love modern technology!
2:30 pm
Look in support manager's contact management database. Cancel 2:45 pm appointment for him. He really should be at home resting, you know.
2:39 pm
New user calls. Says want to learn how to create a connection document. Tell them to run connection document utility CTRL-ALT-DEL. Says PC rebooted. Tell them to call microsupport.
2:50 pm
Support manager calls to say mixup at doctor's office means appointment cancelled. Says he's just going to go on home. Ask him if he's seen corporate Web page lately.
3:00 pm
Another (novice) user calls. Says periodic macro not working. Suggest they place @DeleteDocument at end of formula. Promise to send them document addendum which says so.
4:00 pm
Finish changing foreground color in all documents to white. Also set point size to "2" in help databases.
4:30 pm
User calls to say they can't see anything in documents. Tell them to go to view, do a "Edit -- Select All", hit delete key, and then refresh. Promise to send them document addendum which says so.
4:45 pm
Another user calls. Says they can't read help documents. Tell them I'll fix it. Hang up. Change font to Wingdings.
4:58 pm
Plug coffee maker into Ethernet hub to see what happens. Not (too) much.
5:00 pm
Night shift shows up. Tell that the hub is acting funny and to have a good weekend.

Rachel pirate:
Hi Rachel,
I love both SCUBA and snorkelling, so I'll try to answer your question. Castaway Cay does not offer scuba excursions or have air tanks available. They do have two snorkelling trails (beginner and advanced). The beginner is fairly short, and there is more to see on the advanced trail, but obviously it's a longer swim out. However, my DD was 7 when we were there and was able to snorkel the advanced trail out to find the "sunken Mickey" with no problems.
We bring our own masks and snorkels (for fit and health reasons) but rented fins at Castaway Cay for $8.00 each for the day. This saved a lot of room in our suitcases! Snorkel vests are required for EVERYONE and are provided free of charge by Disney.
On this cruise, there's probably better snorkelling available in Curacao and Cabo San Lucas (although the water at Cabo will be cooler).
Hope this helped. Keep asking any questions you think of!

I let my kids pick out the ice cream at the store the other day, knowing full well that we would not come home with anything normal. Knowing my kids, I figured they would have to have something with cartoon characters or sour gummy worms in it.
They finally decided on "Buncha Cruncha", which is chocolate ice cream with bits of Nestle Crunch stirred in.
Okay. That doesn't sound bad at all.
So, last night, after having scoured the house for something chocolate as I am known to sometimes do, I remembered the ice cream.
I just want to know who the test marketers for this product was. Sure, the chocolate ice cream is rich and creamy and then....
then, you hit one of those chocolate covered, frozen-solid-as-a-rock balls of compressed styrofoam that they are attempting to pass off as "puffed rice". I'm warning you that if you have ANY dental work in your mouth at all, you'd better not bite into one of those little Nestle land-mines! Ouch! And you can't get by with just ONE in your mouth, oh no. They saturated an otherwise respectable ice cream with those little gravelly candies! These things will scrape the hide off of your gums so bad that it will leave you feeling like that fresh-outta-the-oven-pizza-cheese-on-the-roof-of-the-mouth-burn was just a "warm, tingly feeling".
This is just my way of looking out for you guys. I thought you'd like to know.
(I'm so glad they didn't pick the one with Butterfinger bits....)

A water bearer in China had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole, which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.
At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, while the bearer delivered only one and a half pots of full water to his house.
Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do.
After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself and because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house."
The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always known about your flaw and I planted flower seeds on your side of the path. Every day while we walked back, you've watered them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace this house."
Moral: Each of us has our own unique flaws. We're all cracked pots. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.
Blessings to all my crackpot friends. :cheer2:

YES! Try to get reservations for the desert buffet. I highly doubt there will be 2 shows. It is standing room only! No seating unless you get really lucky and get your spot really early! I like Fantasmic @ WDW because of the seating!
The Electrical parade goes through most of the park. We like to hang out near the front where there are some seats. If you have little ones make sure to sit on the ground because the parade and characters all are geared towards the little ones. Way better than Spectromagic! Music is Magical! Do not miss the Electrical Parade!!!!!

DO NOT go on the ferris wheel too close to the light parade - we were stuck for 45 minutes and didn't get great seats. I personally like near the entrance b/c we can get out quicker. 30-45 minutes before the parade starts on a week night will get you good seats. (We had passes the last 2 years). The very best time when the parks are empty at DL (and maybe WDW?) is the week before school starts - 5 minute wait max for ANY ride including those you can get fast passes for. School starts for us the week after the cruise.

I uploaded the Survivor image that was posted on the other site to CafePress.com and decided to try to order it. I figured maybe I'd have better luck since I wasn't putting it in a store and just had it for me to buy. Well, I just checked and next to my order it says SHIPPED.
Now, I also got an email from them saying that I couldn't use that design too, and now it's not available for me to select. So I guess I'll just have to wait and see if I really get this order. Who knows, maybe the person that emailed me didn't contact the department that received my order or didn't realize that I had ordered already so that's why it possibly went through.
Kmiles - when you tried to order yours, how far did your order go. Did it say shipped or anything like that before it was removed?

Renee--
I actually never got the chance to order from CafePress because they took down the design just after it was uploaded.
The Image Station shirt turned out very well but, as mentioned, the drawback is that you have to print it on the front of the shirt and they only have standard t-shirts available in two colors.
How about that new site you found? It looked like a good one.
Janet--
Not sure if DLR does things the same way as WDW but all park and resort restaurants handle PSings in the same fashion. Well, except for V&A. Some of the DTD restaurants that are not owned by Disney do have different reservation systems in place.

So far the new site that I found still says the shirts were sent to print. Since I've never used them before, I don't know how long it's supposed to take for them to print and then ship them. If both orders go through, then I guess I'll wind up with doubles.
Cafepress still says that my order shipped. I'm waiting for the email with the tracking number, which I should get later today like the others, if they really shipped the order. I ordered as soon as I put the logo up so maybe that helped. We'll see.....
I'll update as soon as I hear from either Company.

Soarin' been there, done that, need to go again!!!!! Best views are the front row. I think I have doe it 4 times, never anything but the front. It is a spectacular ride. I don't think that WDWs will be different than DL, but it will be cool to hear the reports.
PS - any dates as to when it is supposed to open, other than the test rides?
kmiles
03-17-2005, 10:05 AM
The attraction is currently undergoing Cast Member previews and from reports the video footage is the same as that used in Soarin' Over California. There is some speculation that the attraction will eventually be re-worked with different video and effects but that, as with so much, cannot be confirmed.
Generally, when attractions debut at WDW they follow this pattern:
1. Cast Member Previews (In two parts: soft openings and set openings)
2. Soft Openings (Random time periods during which park guests are allowed to ride the attraction. These are very spontaneous and you just have to be in the right place at the right time to catch one.)
3. Passholder Previews
4. General Opening
For the most part, Passholder Previews are set up when the final launch of the attraction is close. Perhaps 2 weeks or so. I would think a Soarin' opening will probably take place end of April beginning of May. Which, would put it right in line with the official opening of the "Happiest Celebration on Earth" on May 5.

For all those waiting, Southwest has just openned up their schedule to include September. Well, the flights that we might be interested in are a little higher than some other options.

I was just checking out the Southwest site. (Actually, been checking on it daily waiting for them to open up the August 18th flights. I didn't think it was ever going to happen.)
Anyway, it looks like Southwest is currently the best pricing option for us. One way flight from TPA to LAX on Thursday, August 18th runs $109 per person. It's still a direct flight leaving at 7:35 AM and arriving in CA at 10:35 AM.
But, my concern is this: What if Southwest or another airline reduces their fares even more? Airlines almost always offer significant summer discounts. Will they refund the difference in fares if they do lower the cost?
I know that the $109 is actually very good. Even better than the $139 offered on the direct flight from TPA to LAX from Song. But, what if they offer an even better deal in the coming months???

SWA is very liberal in there cancellation policies. IF the tickey you buy today goes on sale in the future, you can cancel ticket one and get a credit in your account (if non refundable) then buy the new ticket with the credit. ANy money left over stays in your credit account. Unless there are fare wars, 109 is an OK rate. One thing you should never do is put off buying when the ticket is the price you want, because chances are the fare will go up. Check cheapticket.com, they may have a lower fare on a brand name carrier, with a service fee of $5.00. And they do show you what is available, not like priceline bidding. I bet if there was a red eye from TPA you could save even more. And also look at Long Beach as the termination or Jogn Wayne. although JW is usually not discounted.

My understanding is MOST flights on Song have the screens in the headrests. They give you headphones when you board, but I didn't like them and they kept falling out of our ears. I played music trivia most of the flights. Victoria listened to one of the music channels.
You do not have to purchase. I have flown SONG twice now, after booking through Delta.

About Fantasmic, Usually in the summer there are 2 shows per night, I don't remember the date, but the chances of there being more shows are greater on the weekends than week day.
We usualy go near the end of the parade route for the electrical parade. We went a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday. It was extremely crowded because it was one of a handful of saturdays this year where it wasn't raining and the weather was perfect. We walked into DCA about 5 minutes before the parade was to star, and walked past Soarin, to near Golden dreams. We then found as a seat right at the line for the 5 of us to sit. We had about a 5 minute wait until the parade got to us (by the time we got our seats it had already started in the front of the park). I have done this often at the back half of the park. There are also benches to sit down on and they will usually pull them forward. On a busy summer day I would not expect to beable to sit at the line walking up that close to when the parade arrives, but you have a better chance the farther on in the parade route. There are great places to watch the fireworks from in DCA (especially over by Golden dreams).
Sometimes in the summer when the parade is at 9 and the fireworks are at 9:30 even if you are at the begining you don't make it out of DCA and into DL before the start of the fireworks. The lines get long entering DL after DCA closes and the electric parade ends.

Now I thought I read somewhere you had to purchase the headphones on Song, but I looked at their website and couldn't find any info. I also thought that I read you could bring your own but they had to be the two prong kind the airlines use.
BTW I'm not saying your info is not correct, seeing as I've never flown them, and I now can't find the info I thought I read.

I thought it was funny the differences between WDW and DL. At DL new attractions usually go into soft opening, then CM preview, then sometimes AP preview and sometimes not. With buzz they're all confused. They Official date is May 5th, with an early opening of March 17th (or was it 15th I can't remember). True to fashion it soft opened the weekend prior to CM previews. Sometimes CM previews are just for CMs and no one else can ride (was that way with TOT), and othertimes CMs get an FP. Buzz was an FP. They don't take the ticket away though (but they do check the name and you must ride with the CM whose name is on the tickets as they check the CM ID). We rode Buzz 3 times in 45 minutes. The ride went down just before we got there, and they got it up 45 minutes before park closing. The line for CMs was huge (all the way to space mountain).

We are flying in on Aug 17th - and should arrive at HOJo's by 11:00 - and make it to the parks by 12:00 PM.
First Day - will prob. go into DL first -- try to Fantasmic Buffet that night.
Second Day - 8/18/05 - With the 3 day hopper you get the early entry into DL - so we will head there first -- then switch over to DCA. We will stake out a spot by Golden Dreams (thanks for the info Donna) for the parade ( I videotaped it the last year they had it at WDW - spent 4hrs waiting - sitting on the second floor of the Railroad Station), then stay put for the Fireworks.
Third Day: Park hop to our favorites -- then the meet at HoJo's.

You right, there is nothing stated on Song webiste,,that is why i asked Robinmarie. I beleive it was Jetblue that said you had to purchase the headphones.
When we flew JetBlue they were handing them out as you got on the plane, no cost. So now I have not clue. I did however email song (as we're flying on them also) and will post if I get a reply from them.

Thanks to whoever posted the info about Southwest dates opening up. I was able to get 4 O/W tickets from PHL to LAX for $356 Total. I was gonna fly Song from JFK (2 hr ride from my house) but they were $770 for the 4 of us. Plus if we are lucky enough to be florida residents soon, I can cancel and use the money towards flights from FL to LA. DH has to work on the 19th so we dont leave PHL til 6PM and arrive in LA @ 9PM. Anyone else arriving at the same time that wants to share a shuttle van to the HISP.

It Was Spectacular! Stupendous! In a word "WICKED"!
The whole things was so well done and the acting and singing!WOW
Even DD said she loved it better than CATS! And CATS was her fav!
I want to go again but afraid that I will be dissappointed if the same actress is not playing Ephi! She was unbelievable! I bought the CD and have been listening to it ever since!

I just got two emails about the Survivor shirts I ordered.
One from http://artapart.com saying my shirts were shipped today, and one from CafePress.com saying that those shirts were shipped on 3/15.
It looks like I will be getting the shirts from both places. I will post what the shirts look like from artapart.com in case anyone wants to order from there.

Did you know that the Electric parade at DCA is DLs original parade. Long story, and I don't remember all the dates, but DL started in 1972. Then they made one for WDW. WDW sent its floats over to Paris. DL shut its parade down in 96. They then got sent to WDW and were there for a few years. Then in 2000 the floats came back to DL from WDW. Paris closed down it's parade and the floats are at WDW getting rehabbed to be sent to Hong Kong (though they may be in Hong Kong by now).
Also sometime between DLs floats being sent to WDW and them coming back to DCA they took out the Pinochio sequence because it contained smoking. They also changed the intro since at DCA it's not "Main Street" electrical parade, but now "Disney's" electrical parade.
Okay, stupid facts. One thing I didn't notice is the fireworks. Depending on when fantasmic starts, you may not have time to get from Dessert buffet to in front of the castle for fireworks. I have watched them from all over the park. From Fantasmic area you can see really well (though don't know about balcony never watched them from here). Though from here you can not see Tink fly, and the new ones will have tink circling the castle. They also shoot some off at the castle. You won't be able to see those from here either.
If those are important to you should think about them. If Fantasic starts at 9:00 I doubt you will have much time to move. There are huge crowds leaving the fantasmic area, huge crowds of people standing in front of the castle and down mainstreet, and fantasmic is half an hour show. Fireworks are at 9:30. However if there are 2 shows, you could try for the 10:30 fantasmic and watch after the fireworks (but I don't know if they do dessert at the 10:30 show, I can look and see if I can find any info).
I usually watch FW from behind the castle by Small world (usually get the best view of the majority of fireworks from here). But we do like to see them from in front to see what they've got there. I really don't know what all they'll be doing for the new FW show, so until it starts in may it's hard to say for certain.
Also the FW were designed to be viewed the best from halfway down mainstree not right in front of the castle (where people like to wait for hours). We have our fav spots both in front and behind castle.

It IS great isn't it :)
Lynne has seen it four times on Broadway and Jazz's family loved it too. I downloaded the songs off of Kaaza and have been playing them too.
I know what you mean about seeing Stephanie Block as opposed to the "fill in" :)
She was phenomenal. This won't be heldover though due to it going onto new cities. I thought it was neat having Carol Kane in the cast too. Had just seen her in "The Pacifier" with Meagan's friends last week.

One day, when a seamstress was sewing while sitting close to a river, her thimble fell into the river. When she cried out, the Lord appeared and asked, "My dear child, why are you crying?" The seamstress replied that her thimble had fallen into the water and that she needed it to help her husband in making a living for their family.
The Lord dipped His hand into the water and pulled up a golden thimble set with pearls. "Is this your thimble?" the Lord asked. The seamstress replied, "No."
The Lord again dipped into the river. He held out a silver thimble ringed with sapphires. "Is this your thimble?" the Lord asked. Again, the seamstress replied, "No."
The Lord reached down again and came up with a leather thimble. "Is this your thimble?" the Lord asked. The seamstress replied, "Yes."
The Lord was pleased with the woman's honesty and gave her all three thimbles to keep, and the seamstress went home happy. Some years later, the seamstress was walking with her husband along the riverbank, and her husband fell into the river and disappeared under the water.
When she was cried out, the Lord again appeared and asked her, "Why are you crying?" "Oh Lord, my husband has fallen into the river!" The Lord went down into the water and came up with Mel Gibson. "Is this your husband?" the Lord asked.
"Yes," cried the seamstress.
The Lord was furious. "You lied! That is an untruth!"
The seamstress replied, "Oh, forgive me, my Lord. It is a misunderstanding. You see, if I had said 'no' to Mel Gibson, you would have come up with Tom Cruise. Then if I said 'no' to him, you would have come up with my husband. Had I then said 'yes' you would have given me all three. Lord, I'm not in the best of health and would not be able to take care of all three husbands, so THAT'S why I said 'yes' to Mel Gibson.
The moral of this story is: "Whenever a woman lies, it is for a good and honorable reason, and in the best interest of others."
That's our story, and we're sticking to it.

There are no fireworks at DCA, but if you watch the parade from the main entrance and RUN as soon as it is finished to get in the turnstile line at DL, you might get to see the FW. Depending on how many people are trying to get into DL.
Also, DTD at DL is very small in comparison, but they do have a Build-a-bear, a World of Disney Store, some nice places to eat, and a bunch of other shops.
Honestly, if you are from the WDW side andnever been to DL, you really should take the opportunity to go. If it means missing the hotel meet and greets, keep in mind that you will have 14 nights to meet and greet the fools, and NO ONE will be upset if anyone missed cocktails by the pool at HoJos or HISP. Of course, here I am, not able to go to DL, and I really am kicking myself for not going in 2 days early.

You really think the Brotherhood believes that bunk!! The real moral of the story is that every woman would lie, even to God, if it would get rid of their husband in exchange for Mel Gibson!

We definitely want to see as much as possible -- In '02 we did a quick 2 day visit in May - no parades or shows were scheduled.
We could also fit in DTD one night after the parks close -- assuming they are open late. Heh - we'll catch up on our sleep during one on the sea days :earboy2:

You may be able to get into DL to see FW, but you may not, also you can see then from the plaza, sometimes they pipe the music in and sometimes they don't (I haven't figured out if there's a reason). You can also see the FW from DTD though no music.
I have heard rumors of them doing FW at DCA, but as of yet, haven't heard anything solid, so I wouldn't expect them.
I also wanted to apologize for my wording in the other post, I was quickly typing while my computer was busy working since I'm at work.
One more apology, at one point in the last 2 weeks someone asked somewhere about Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. I think this was in chat, but my brain is so mixed up I'm clueless. I commented that they were not going to get rid of it. Well I have found out that they are in fact not planning on showing the Mr. Lincoln show, but a different one geared towards DL in that theater. Sorry about the wrong info, I had never heard they were actually not showing the movie, I thought all the changes were to the rooms before and after the movie.

Park hours, these are guesses, based on previous years experience. August Hours will be pretty much like July's (other than for July 4th). Don't expect DL to close earlier than 11 sun-Thur (and probably more like midnight), and midnight Fri-Sat. 8am opening daily. DCA will probably be open at 10 daily and closing no earlier than 9.
Electrical parade will probably be 8:45.
Fireworks will be at 9:30.
Nighttime parade (if they show the new one at night which I think they are) will probably be about 8:30-9:00. They try to time it so that it ends a few minutes before the fireworks.
Daytime parade (I think the new one will be shown once during the day and once at night, though I could be wrong) probably around 3 (again this is a guess)
No clue when they'll do the Block Party bash at DCA.
Fantasmic 9:00, and I would expect to also see it at 10:30 nightly if not weekends, with the possibility of a 3rd show at 11:30 (rare, but does happen). Usually these shows are planned, but I have seen them add then last minute during the day.
World of Disney usually closes 2 hours after DL, but never after Midnight (so if DL closes at midnight, WOD will also close at midnight (this is the store Howard works at, so stop in and say Hi))
Most other DTD stores are open at least until 10, but they all have their own hours. Finding info on when they close is not easy.

Okay, I'm sure you're getting sick of my posts, but the reason I came on after lunch was to post the reply I got from Song reguarding headphones. Then I completely forgot to post it.
Thanks for getting in touch with Song.
Everyone has different needs as far as being entertained, so we have several options, some free, some for a nominal fee. Headphones will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own.
On the Song website, under 'Song Experience' then 'Entertainment', you will see the list of Direct TV channels and the music channels which are complimentary.
We also offer a choice of several pay-per-view movies which will be rotated on a regular basis. The charge for a movie is $5.
We hope to see you soon on Song!
I asked if a special adaper for headsets were required, and I'm assuming since they didn't specify, then regular headsets may be used.

Top o' the afternoon to all Fools!
Glad to see everyone is getting some good deals on flights. Hurray!
Janet & Grumbo, I hope "Wicked" comes here soon. I'm going to do a google to see where it is playing. Sounds awesome! Glad to hear that you both enjoyed it so much. And Janet, we can toast from the opposite coasts with our green beer tonight! You can be an honorary leprachaun for the day. ;)
Good to see you posting Erica! Continued speedy recovery, and hugs!
Excellent tips Donna re: DL/DCA!
Dh took me out for an Irish lunch. I'll have you know that I enjoyed it but also ate the Sisterhood way! I had about 2 oz. of lean corned beef, a few bites of boiled potatoe, some cabbage, and a big bowl of fresh fruit! I like this new way of eating. I passed on the chocolate cake with green icing, but dh and I did share a cream puff with chocolate icing...made me think of all the cruise desserts. :) Only ate a few bites, brought the rest home for the kiddos.
Flew kites with dd afterschool for their "kite flying" day, and now we're off again for her Religious Ed. class.
Hope St. Paddy is giving everyone some good luck today!

For all those waiting, Southwest has just openned up their schedule to include September. Well, the flights that we might be interested in are a little higher than some other options.
It seems like our best (price) option is Song airline to JFK and a rental car. Anyone have any comments about Song? (other than they are part of Delta.)
Thanks,
Paul
We have flown Song several times from Newark and LaGuardia....all our flights on Song have been great...leather seats, TV screen built into the seat infront of you....you do have purchase food, but soft drinks are complimentary.
We are flying Song out to LA for the repo cruise from JFK to LAX on the 19th and then again from MCO to LAGuardia on the 3rd of Sept...

I will wait a day or two at the most and then purchase our return airfare. Last time SW opened their dates Delta came within $3 of a price match. I will be checking throughout the night. Come on Delta! :wizard:

Got my Survivor T Shirt today from imagestation- it is fabulous! Total with shipping was just over 10 dollars. The photo print on it probably will not withstand the test of time, but will stand a 14 day cruise with some hand washing inside out. It looks very crisp and the colors are true. The t shirt is a decent quality and the large looks like a true men's large. I wish they had kids sizes because Victoria wants one. I suppose I can do an iron on version if she insists.
Victoria thought it meant I will be going on the Survivor show. :rotfl:
My mother is going down with her sister and relatives to Disney in April - while Victoria and I are happy for her, we are a wee bit green and not for the holiday mind ya.::yes::
No corn beef and whatnot this year though usually I love the cabbage with vinegar over it.

Here is an interesting article from FloridaToday. Talks about a Carnival plan for a megaship, plus the Magic westcoast cruises. The most interesting part is the new WebCam at the Radisson Hotel. I looked at it...right now its night, so hard to tell what is being looked at. The instructions are neat...click on start and you get in line to control the webcam. Looks like this could be fun!

GINNY
Glad to hear you got such a good fare on your LAX flights! Has DH heard anything yet on his interview?

For all those waiting, Southwest has just openned up their schedule to include September. Well, the flights that we might be interested in are a little higher than some other options.
It seems like our best (price) option is Song airline to JFK and a rental car. Anyone have any comments about Song? (other than they are part of Delta.)
Thanks,
Paul
Thanks!! I just booked on US Air for 87.70 to LA...I am happy now!!! And I booked my return flight...that will make you happy Mark!!

Just a quick note to tell you that I have updated my map with several more cruisers, and a few changes to the format and resolution. Also, for our friends over in Europe, I made a map that also includes the UK.
I did a little bit of distance querying about our route, and here are the approximate distances we are traveling on this cruise:
Los Angeles to Cabo: 895 miles
Cabo to Acapulco: 1010 miles
Acapulco to Panama City: 1697 miles
Panama City to Colon: 50 miles
Colon to Willemstad: 790 miles
Willemstad to Castaway: 1267 miles
Castaway Cay to PC: 295 miles
------------------------------------
Total distance 6004 miles
(statute miles, not nautical miles)

I coulda saved 50 bucks with the new Southwest rates. Already booked and paid for Song. At least I have seats already selected, that TV thingie, and non-stop vs 2 stops on SWA. So I'm stickin with what I got!

Where is the job opportunity? Orlando? I assume it is down here somewhere.

IzziBob - the job my DH interviewed for would be in Pinellas Park (St. Pete area). We really prefer the west coast of FL so we are really hoping this comes through for him. But if not, Im still waiting for something to open up with my company and my best chances with my company are in Orlando, which would be fine.... We just really want to move to Florida.
My SW flights are non-stop. I cant imagine changing planes and extending what is already a 6 hour flight from NJ. I have a 6PM flight so Im hoping my kids will sleep at least a portion of the flight since they are usually sleeping by 8:30-9PM anyway.

By the way, one of my Chadwick orders did not ship. I called today about the status and she said I could only order one free item OR use the 30% discount, not two free items AND the discount. Funny, they shipped the second order with four free items, discount and two reduced items.

Hey its U.S. money....
I always look for U.S. change :)
Your offer was better than Chadwicks... Who wants $2.00 for free!!!!!!!!
I was first so if you want you can save it til the HISP... It will cost you more to post it to me than the $2.00. I'll be checking too. 7 California, one Wisconsin... Don't be spending it before August!!!!

For all those waiting, Southwest has just openned up their schedule to include September. Well, the flights that we might be interested in are a little higher than some other options.
It seems like our best (price) option is Song airline to JFK and a rental car. Anyone have any comments about Song? (other than they are part of Delta.)
Thanks,
Paul
I'm just catching up so I don't know if a million other people answered but I wanted to chime in before I lost the original post. We booked on Song also after talking to my inlaws. They have flown Song a couple of times and liked it. I thin financially they are in good shape too. I was pretty confident booking them.

Yes, I have. I'm feeling a little lost without any Wicked tickets in the works, but I'm thinking that we may have to try to get tickets to Spamalot before it becomes impossible!

Now, it may have just been me, but when I was little and watched ABC Sports on Saturday, those cliffs were just incredible and the divers were just unbelieveable. Now, for the rest of the story......................to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. We rode the bus and pulled up with about 5 other buses, and vendors were all over the parking lot with their "stuff" hounding you to buy something. Then we walked across the parking lot to the lower deck of the restaurant (which I thought needed a little updating to say the least) and watched as these guys (not real young) dove off the cliffs.
Not real exciting, stayed about 10-15 minutes, watched four or five guys dive and then climb back up. Just wasn't like it was on ABC Sports. "The thrill of victory, the agony of defeat." See how those things brainwash you?
My mother asked me about it for this time and I told her it wasn't worth the time and money and if we wanted to do it that bad, we could ride a taxi over and back.
Thought it was interesting.

Hi, all.....
I have over 50 pages to catch up on from just this week! But I will.
However, I saw the Southwest announcement in passing and jumped on that opportunity. And now I want to do the happy dance for a change :cool1: (I've had a pretty crappy week medical wise and got some not great news about a possible medical condition I may be facing -- but still waiting for testing. On top of that, my beloved pet lizard Oberon passed away yesterday!) Not a great week.
Anyway -- onto my happy dance -- I GOT MY ONE-WAY RESSIES FROM PHL TO LAS VEGAS ON SOUTHWEST for August 11th. Yeahhhh. I have been checking every single day and been a wreck about missing out on the opportunity to get their great fares. US Air's fares are double for the day I want to leave. I just booked my ressies for the three of us and it's only costing me $270.00. So I am very happy about that.
Also bought and paid for our King Tut tickets for Las Angeles on August 16th. Made and paid for our Las Vegas ressies at Luxor. Only need to pay off the cruise and DL hotel package! I am groovin' along slowly.
I'll catch up over the weekend and see what other great things I have missed. Thanks for the info. :jumping1:

CHADWICK'S - I placed my order with 4 free gifts, 30% off highest & free shipping and received everything no problem. Unfortunately, the top I ordered was too big (they were out of size L when I ordered so I just went up a size to XL, especially since it looked small on the model). I called to initiate an exchange (they now have size L in stock - go figure) so I have that ball rolling, but I am worried I'll be 'caught" and they'll charge me for the extra freebies or something. I have my fingers crossed that that won't be the case!!
AIRFARE - I have been watching airfares for our return flight daily, but today I finally jumped on the bandwagon! I booked Spirit non-stop from MCO to Chicago O'Hare (ORD) for $89.70 total each (4 of us). I've had my eye on their Saturday morning flight on September 3rd, but it was at 10:45am - too early! They had a 6:35pm flight, but it was $25 each more and I didn't want to sit at MCO all afternoon. Well low and behold Spirit changed their flight schedule and the morning flight is now leaving at 12:25pm! Yippee!! So I booked it, Dan-o!! One more thing to cross off the endless list!
We had already booked our ORD-LAX flight back in early February: Aug. 18th non-stop on American at 10:25am arives 12:40pm for $89.20 total each.

Never got my order either. Glad to know what happened to it. Oh well money saved for the cruise.
Green with envy of those that have already seen Wicked. I've been wanting to see it since before it opened.
Guess I'll look at SWA to see if my Air Tran ressie from MCO to BWI is still a good deal.
I am booked on Song for MCO to LAX so I am happy to hear good things about the airline.

Hope you receive it soon Donna! It looks like a small passport - 3 1/2" X 5", navy blue, with Sleeping Beauty's Castle on the front with small gold pixie dust and Tink with small gold pixie dust on the back. You can see it at the AP website.

One fun thing I get to take advantage of working at a university -- bus trips to plays. Next Saturday we're going to see "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" with John Lithgow and on April 16th we're going to see "Spamalot". I'm so mad -- I set the tape this morning before work to tape the cast on The Today Show and my tape ran out before they came on! Bummer.

No, they do not show the newsletter, but...
They do show what the passport looks like if you click on "special offers" in the AP section and scroll down. It will give you a picture of the passport.
The coupons to give to family/friends are good for 5/5/05 to 6/17/05. You do get some info. on pins and obtain a coupon for a free mousepad that they will have until they run out. There is a coupon for March for 20% off a Buzz Lightyear magic straw. Hopefully, you'll see it in the mail tomorrow.
Tracy, I'm going to write the info. for you now and send you it via PM. Then, we may go to see the new Ice Princess movie - Brian is really tired tonight though, so we may pass and take dd & her two friends tomorrow instead.

Thank you to Janet, Grumbo, Jazz, Denise, and their dd Lisa!!!!!!!
We just purchased tickets to "Wicked" at the Pantages in L.A. I'm so excited! Told dh that I wanted to do this for my bday in June. We're taking my parents and our children. Seats are just OK, this is a presale for American Express and still seats are gone. I cannot wait!
Well, we did not go to the movies...too tired. Will do that tomorrow if we cannot sneak in a trip to San Diego to visit dd's mission in between the rain. In the fourth grade in California, 4th graders do a mission unit and each builds a replica of their chosen mission. It is quite a project, but something the child or parents never forget. ;)
Off to get the kids and their friends dinner. We are eating late tonight, can ya' tell?
Have a great weekend Ship of Fools!

ROFR means Really Old Frump... Really ;)
Or then again it could mean Right of First Refusal, in that Disney can buy back their points if they think they're going too cheaply, then resell themselves at a much higher rate.

Are you staying in WDW after the cruise or going home on the 3rd? Parents are flying SW. I was hoping Delta would price match. Their prices actually went up today. I will check a couple of more time and probably end up with SW. If you are heading home on the 3rd what departure time did you choose on SW?

I haven't waited this long for a vacation in a LONG time. It's KILLING me! My family is going next month and they are asking for help which puts me in the mode of 'maybe a long weekend trip'.

Hey Guys, Good Morning!
I mentioned this a few nights ago, but it was buried in a press release and I figured most of you would miss it. The Radisson at the Port has a WebCam that you control, and I just checked it again and it is great! Last time it was dark...I just tried it this morning and was able to get a great view of the Magic. Also a Holland America ship. Try it.
For some reason the Description of the controls on the screen is Japanese. However it comes with English instructions and the thing that looks like an eyeball is the start button
Try the Radisson Webcam!!!!!! (http://www.opusad.com/radissonwebcam/)

I'm not sure about the Pantages theater but I just wanted to tell you that the gershwin in NYC (where it plays on broadway) is a pretty large theater and there honestly isn't a bad viewpoint for this play. I've sat in the absolute front row dead center, second row on the aisle, last row in mezzanine dead center and middle of the theater all the way to the right side (sold as obstructed view in this theater) and they all were fabulous vantage points. They definitely designed this musical to be beautiful from all angles and distances.

You sound like me! The last trip more than a long weekend we had was in January of 2003. We took a cruise last NYE to burn some points (a 4 day cruise) and that's been it, so 20 months without a break! And my parents are going to WDW the first week of april, finks. I don't want to help them but I have to! Darn.

Hi everybody, just caught up with another load of pages. I've been working more than full time for the best part of this week, so not had time to keep up with you all.
I feel so sorry for all you North Americans - how do you cope with so few holidays a year? We get (usually) at least 4 weeks plus about 12 days bank holidays. Allan gets over 5 weeks holidays. I'm self employed so basically can take as many days off as I like. I can't imagine not being able to have 3 good hols a year. Don't I sound like a spoiled brat? Believe me, Allan and I count our blessings every day, and do not take our good fortune for granted.
And another piece of good fortune that happend today - Allan became a grandfather for the first time! Fantastic news, except I don't like being married to a Granddad! I'm far too young! Allan's eldest daughter Sue, from his first marriage, gave birth to a very bouncing baby boy, Samuel Robert Thomson, this morning at 9.00 a.m. Sam weighed in at 9lb 9oz and arrived after on 3 hours of labour! Quite a feat for a first time Mum! I think Allan is secretly very proud, but is trying to be blase about it all!
Have a good evening all, we're off to bed now - us oldies need our sleep!

Pam, congratulations on being married to a Grandfather!
I hear what you are saying about time off. I think about other jobs out there but I think of all the Policy changes I had to make to ensure I get as much vacation time as I do! :rotfl: It took me many years to earn these priviledges! I get about 7 weeks off a year total. Of course some weeks I work a million hours!
Bonnie you are first class all the way!

03-19-2005, 06:24 PM
Congratulations!!!!
Boy do I understand what you mean about the UK valuing their time off...you guys do it right....our standard here is to start a job with 2 weeks paid vacation...then you can work your way up to more weeks the longer you are in the job....but that is not enough for me!!! I often take a few weeks off without pay, just to have the time off!!!
DenverVal
03-19-2005, 06:57 PM
I was finally able to take two consecutive weeks off just two years ago, after almost 20 years in the work force. I have never worked at one place long enough to accrue more than three weeks of vacation, and was never allowed (or could afford) to take it all at once; ten days was my longest vacation. It was wonderfully relaxing and I need more vacations like that...really looking forward to this cruise!

hey you guys. vacation time. hmmmm... our schedules are so that we work a week and are off a week, so in essence we have 26 weeks of vacation a year and are still considered full time. plus we have about 9 holidays we get paid for.
Life is good at times.

(Can't you tell my favourite movie is "7 Brides for 7 Brothers"!).
Happy Spring season Fools. It really is Spring on our little Island. Drove the length of it yesterday (not a long journey!) and we are having the most glorious weekend. All the daffs are out now, temperatures are cool, but at least we can turn off the central heating and open all the doors. How lovely to get fresh air at last! The cats are loving it - walking out the back door, round the house, in the front door, and off again. I've spring cleaned the house and I'm ready for Easter folks! Ain't life grand?
