Perhaps we'll all be able to come up with a new design for the cruise too. One that won't cause any problems.

We'll go ahead with Mark's idea of one with the names. I think that was good.OMG! At the rate we're going we'll have a different design shirt for each day of the cruise!! There's the Verandah Man design, the pin design, the survivor design, the SOF names design......

I am not complaining, just remarking how creative this group is!! I think it's great! And with all the variety of designs, there should be something to please each cruiser. Keep it up - I love it!!! :cool1:

Would it be possible for us to copy/download/print (or whatever it's called) the graphic(s) so we can print them ourselves on that t-shirt transfer paper you can buy to make your own tees? Didn't Verandah Man do that in the beginning?

Besides, when I showed it to my DH on Zazzle the other day (yesterday?) he liked it, but said he wanted it in a daygo-T style shirt.

I think that's the best idea yet, Nancy.

Keep an eye out for it on the site!

The idea of having "Sisterhood" items came from Renee' months ago - thanks Renee'! The final products are the joint efforts of Arlene, Marsha, and myself. We've been slaving over these for months LooneyHOODs!!! ;)

Later tonight, I'm going to add another store so that some of the shirts have the logo on the upper left corner and in smaller form (i.e. - baby doll t-shirt, women's t-shirt...)

So, you might want to wait to order until you see these.

I got a tracking number for my Cafepress order. Mine came DHL Home by way of the Post Office.

Reneé

Unfortunately, CafePress lump all their shipments to Canada under one shipment and when it arrives here at the Airport, that's when DHL gives the individual parcels to Customs and then to the ship to address. Therefore no tracking #.

That's why I am having it sent to work address so that someone is there to accept. But I guess someone likes the stuff and decided to keep it!LOL

As long as I don't get charged for another shipment and it arrives before we sail....

Glad to hear that the quality is good.

Good parts were the days in port (Progreso, Cozumel, Belize). The BEST part was seeing the Magic in Cozumel. :) Boy did I want to get on that ship right then & there. ;) The food was good, the service was adequate, our room steward was fantastic, and the guy running the art gallery was my savior!!

I have looked at this company before, but if you go to http://www.shoretrips.com you will find some good excursions for Cabo, Acapulco, and Curacao (No dolphin ones though). This company apparently has a good rep (They just broker the excursions) but you have a way of booking now, and they won't charge if your ship is late etc.

Speaking of CafePress, last night in chat I was asked how the fitted shirts fit. While I'm not willing to give my measurements here, I will say my picture is on the other site and I generally wear a small to medium top. I ordered a medium tank top from CafePress and a large baby doll T. I would not go any smaller for me on either of these. I'm also a little disappointed with the thickness (yes, they are a bit see-through). A colored shirt would definitely be better with these fitted ones. Just my 2 cents!

Sad result of any "discount" airline attempting to operate here in Canada.

Despite their "good" prices, I ONLY book Air Canada flights if I want to be sure I'm going somewhere! (And even they weren't too stable a short time ago ... )

I received an answer from the bus company today regarding the questions some of you had about who handles and where the luggage is placed for the ride from the Port to MCO after the cruise.

Good Morning Mark,

Yes, I have received your signed contract. Thank you. Yes, there are luggage bays underneath the buses for luggage to be stored. The drivers load and unload the luggage for the most part and will do all of the loading and unloading. Being a former driver, I know that if anyone wants to help, the driver isn't going to turn it down. If there is a lot of luggage the drivers are experienced putting it in so that it will all fit.

The cost of the each bus was 365.00 + 36.50 (10%) as a gratuity. It seems the drivers tip is included in the cost of the bus. Should you feel the need for any additional tipping for extra services rendered, then by all means do so, but I wanted to let everyone know that we are giving the driver a tip already...Mark

I think the web cam pics there are much better than the official PanCam page because you can see all three in large mode. And you can scroll down to the calendar pages and see which ship(s) are scheduled to go through the canal each day. Fun!

WHAT?!?! I asked this question when the change took place and was told that we would continue to get the discount. Did anyone hear about this beforehand? WHAT?!?! I asked this question when the change took place and was told that we would continue to get the discount. Did anyone hear about this beforehand? It will certainly impact on my shopping at The Disney Store. And I love The Disney Store. But a discount is important to me and hard to lose once I have had it. Could you possibly have been given wrong information?

DarleneI wish it'd been wrong information! I shopped TDS a week or so ago and used my DVC card to get a discount; nothing was said about it ending. Then when I shopped TDS last night, I was passing the cash wrap desk and I overheard one CM was telling another that they can't accept Vacation Club cards anymore. I stopped in my tracks and asked him about it. He even showed me the piece of paper that was the memo from the home office or wherever stating that as of last Thursday, DVC cards are no longer accepted for discounts.

I haven't been to the DVC member website to see what it might say about this. Anyone else know any more about the change?

Canon Digital and Compact Photo Printer . . .

Okay all you photo afficiandos -- I need your advice. We are looking to buy a new Digital Camera and the Canon Compact Photo Printer. The only thing is, with the price of the paper/ink for this and you only get 36 prints, it seems more expensive than just having them developed. I thought it would save money. Can anyone who has this tell me the advantages? Thanks tons...

Hey Mel,
Since you won't be at chat, I won't be able to thank you for the gift there! So I'll have to do it here! Thanks. It was great!

I couldn't read the note too well...looks like it got wet and the ink ran! As near as I can tell, you would like the gift "completed" and returned! Am I right? I will get the cats working on that. Trying to train them right now to hit a smaller target. Had some misses, so the outside of the box may be messy!

By the way, thanks for putting a return address on the package. That way I won't have to ask for your address later! I thought you lived on a "Lane" but its really a "Lane Dr."-pretty high class!

Actually, I may not mail it to you...might get messy. Probably deliver it in person in August!

Several years ago we got the HP Compact photo printer. The thing we loved about it was we could take it with us and make prints immediately. We did it on our family cruise and I was able to print out the good ones and give them to the kids on the ship! You are probably right about the cost though. Not sure what you mean about the 36 prints...ours will make as many as you want if you have the paper and ink. The real advantage is portability and timeliness, not cost.

Cathy--

I think Bob is correct in his thoughts on the photo printer. Generally, you can get digital photos printed on the cheap from a wide variety of places. I have used many and have been pleased with most.

You'll probably have many locations located near you that will allow you to upload your photos from your home PC via their internet web sites. Then you can stop in the store and pick them up or many companies will ship them to you for postage. (Examples of these stores would be Ritz Camera, Wal Mart, drug stores, etc.) Many of these companies provide one hour photos if you upload them and pick them up at a location near you. (I use Ritz all the time.)

You can also purchase them off web based printers. Going through one of these companies requires, or course, that the prints be shipped to you.

All in all, the "printing them yourself" route is going to be more expensive than having someone else print them up for you. But, if you feel you would enjoy doing it yourself, the printer may be the way to go.

Cathy, I think the advantage of digital versus film printing wise is that you can pick and choose which photos to print, manipulate the photos if you desire and print as many as you want the first time. Printing digital at home versus film at the processor is about the same cost-wise, especially when you take the above into account.

Kmiles, since you mentioned Ritz, I have to tell you what happened with our new digital waterproof camera. We called Ritz and asked them if they carried the brand we wanted. They did, but didn't have any so they would have to order it. They found out the company wouldn't be carrying that model anymore so they would have to get it from another store in the area. One had it and would send it on to them. When we got it and brought it home, the batteries were in the box, the camera wasn't wrapped in plastic, maybe not that unusual. I pushed the power button (before putting in the batteries) and it turned on then immediately off. We opened the housing and found the batteries were in the camera (but obviously dead). We put in the new batteries and there were two pictures on the camera! Pictures of the Ritz store! Doesn't look like I got a brand new camera afterall!

Exercise for seniors

Here is an exercise suggested for seniors, to build muscle strength in the arms and shoulders. It seems so easy, so I thought I'd pass it on to some of my friends. Just don't over-do it.

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.

With a 5-LB. potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides, and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, then relax.

Each day, you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.

After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-LB. potato sacks. Then 50-LB.potato sacks, and eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-LB. potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute.

After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each of the sacks.

Nancy: I don't see why you couldn't use the booster as long as your DD is very close to its requirements. I still need to get Kaleigh's height so I know what I am doing.I am pretty sure I am going to go this route for Emma (using a belt-positioning booster, aka a backless booster seat). At the time of the cruise in Aug. she will meet the age & height requirements and probably the weight requirement (or be very close).

I got to thinking about how I *thought* we only needed it for the shuttle from LAX to HISP, and then realized I may need it for the HISP shuttle to the port and the port-to-MCO bus (Mark is checking on the bus co.'s requirements, if any).

This booster will just be soooo much easier to travel with than her behemoth car seat. The booster is smaller, light weight and we can stash it in the luggage for our flight & then under the bed on the cruise (thanx for the storage offer Marsha, but I think we've found a solution!!).

If anyone is interested, these type booster seats typically cost about $15 and you can get them at ToysRUs, Walmart, etc. The requirements on ours (a Cosco) are at least one year of age, 29" tall and 30 pounds. These are federally approved for use in a motor vehicle, though not FAA approved.

Thanx, everyone for helping me "think outloud" to try and solve this problem. I hope others with car seat issues find a solution that is workable for them, too!

Children's Place (Hoop Retail) did buy the Disney Store chain, but the Stores in DL, WDW and NYC are not "Disney Store" stores....they are owned and run by The Walt Disney Company, a separate part of the company than what the Disney Stores were. I know it is confusing but the TDS chain was a separate entity from the rest of the stores owned by the Walt Disney Company...they had different discounts and policies than the stores at DL, WDW. The one in NYC used to be a true Disney Store but after it's remodel last year it is now one of the ones owned by The Walt Disney Company (like the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney) and those CMs get the same discounts and benefits as if they were working in Walt Disney World.

And, sadly, yes...all TDS CM's lost their discounts to the Disney parks, resort hotels, and CRUISE!!! They still get discounts on merchandise in the Disney Stores (owned by Children's Place).

I am not surprised that they do not offer the DVC discount anymore as they are not run by Disney anymore. They are still working out all the kinks in the transition from Disney ownership to Children's Place ownership.

A Sunday Joke:

What a Child Hears...

A visiting minister spoke eloquently during the offertory prayer.
"Dear Lord" he began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. "Without you we are but dust. . . "

He would have continued but at that moment, a very obedient daughter (who was listening!) leaned over to her mother and asked quite loudly in her shrill little girl voice, "Mom, what is butt dust?"

Lets hope he does something about the spiraling costs.

LOS ANGELES - The Walt Disney Co. said Sunday its president, Robert Iger, will succeed Michael Eisner as chief executive after another top contender for the job dropped out of the running. The company said Iger was unanimously elected by the board and will take charge Sept. 30.

Eisner will step down on that day, a year earlier than he had previously announced, the company said.

"Bob is an experienced, talented and visionary leader who has made crucial and substantial contributions toward Disney's strong performance," Disney board chairman George Mitchell said in a statement. "On behalf of the entire Board, I want to express how excited we are at the prospect of Bob leading this extraordinary company and talented management team to new levels of financial and creative success in the years ahead."

In a letter to the board, Eisner praised the decision and said he will not seek a nomination for another term on the board when his current term expires next year. Eisner also said he will not seek the board chairmanship after Mitchell retires.

Mitchell said the board chose Iger after a "lengthy, thorough and professional selection process, comparing both internal and external candidates against our criteria for CEO."

EBay Inc. CEO Meg Whitman, who was competing with Iger for the CEO slot, withdrew her application on Friday after interviewing with the Disney board earlier in the week, spokesman Henry Gomez said Sunday.

"She decided to stay at eBay," Gomez said. "After considering it during the week, she decided she wanted to stay at eBay."

Iger, 54, who also serves as chief operating officer, had been considered a front-runner for the post. He was president of Capital Cities/ABC when Disney bought the company in 1995, and went on to become president of the ABC Group and head of Walt Disney International. He was named president in 2000.

Eisner, who has been CEO since 1984, announced in September he would retire after his contract expires next year and had backed Iger as his successor. Disney officials, meanwhile, had said they planned to choose Eisner's replacement by June and that Iger, along with candidates from outside the company, were being considered.

With the announcement, the board was expected to turn its attention to the search for a chairman. Mitchell, who will turn the board's mandatory retirement age of 72 next year, has said he will not stand for re-election at the 2006 annual meeting.

Disney's board first split the roles last year after shareholders delivered a stinging vote of no confidence in Eisner, who then held both titles. Shareholders withheld 45 percent of their votes for his re-election to the board, a move that prompted the board to strip him of his chairmanship.

The decision Sunday came despite questions about the fairness of the succession process by corporate governance critics and dissident ex-board members Roy E. Disney and Stanley Gold, who sparked the shareholder revolt and lobbied unsuccessfully for Eisner's ouster last year.

Geez!

Go to the Animal Kingdom for an afternoon and come back to a new CEO for the whole company! :)

Actually, I would give Iger a chance. He's really helped move ABC along and Eisner's vote of confidence is not a bad thing in my book. I'm actually pleased that they picked someone from within the company. I think it's important that the next CEO embraces what the Disney touch is!

In all honesty, I'll be a bit sad to see Eisner go. He's done outstanding things for the Walt Disney Company in his 21 years as CEO and Chairperson. After all, he gave us DCL. He also turned Feature Animation around to produce a no-miss line of hits.

Sure, it's time for him to go. Totally in agreement their. I just hope that Iger can produce some of the results that Eisner made happen turning his first 15 years with the company.

For Jazzman and Janet......
OK went and saw Wicked.....
Meagan's team made the 12:30 final game, the show was at 2:00 pm. We told her if she wanted, she could play the game, and we'd take a friend from Toronto. There was no choice as far we was concerned. Play her game.. The game ended 1 - 1 and went into overtime. We had about a 30 minute drive to the theatre, but it went into sudden death overtime. We stayed. Unfortunately 7 minutes into OT they scored on Meagan. We ran out, made it to the theatre, 3 minutes to spare..
I was not too sure how I'd like it. IT IS PHENOMENAL. Loved the music, costuming is great, the actors/actresses are superb. It has a great message and is so cleverly done on the story leading up to how the "Wicked Witch of the West" became the way she is portrayed along with an "explanation" of the Wizard of Oz story. Janet you'll love it. You go Wednesday?
The original witch is still out, and the understudy will be there the whole run. IF this is the understudy God only knows how good the "regular" was because this one is superb. Gotta download some of the songs I liked from it. Anyway Jazz your dd is right on. Great show :)

Hello Fools and assorted visitors. Last night was a very bad night for me. I took Max out and slipped on the ice that formed because the STUPID builder refuses to put gutters up and the water that drips off the roof freezes all the way down out driveway. Now, I can not bend my knee more then about 25% nor can I straighten it. Of course, I have no established doctor, so as soon as 8am rolls around, I will have to start calling those on the list that are accepting new patients. I spent the night in the guest roon with my knee supported by a pillow. And DH has gone to New York City for the next 3 days. This is gonna be fun.

Marsha,

From someone who suffers with many knee problems I will keep sending up goot thoughts and PD for you. I hope you find a good doc and he or she can take care of this problem for you. Rest and funny as it sounds, ice the knee to bring the swelling down. I have my last two PT sessions this week from my slip on the ice in January. I have seen a big difference with taking all my PT sessions, if they are prescribed, make sure you make your appointments!!!

If anyone wants to switch to the "practice" cruise, there are cabins available in every category, but cat 10 (not counting 1,2 or 3). Since today is their 60 day mark, it looks like quite a few people changed their minds. I wonder what the availability will look like on our cruise when June 20 gets here.

I am pretty sure I am going to go this route for Emma (using a belt-positioning booster, aka a backless booster seat).

I may look into just getting a booster instead of the fold-up car seat. Kaleigh will be almost 3 by the cruise.

Very true Grumbo. My parents always tell us that we never had car seats, they always just held us in the car. We used to ride in the trunk of our hatchback. We used to ride in the bed of the pickup (or on the boards of the pickup that didn't have a bed). Of course, I grew up in "redneckville". We used to get pulled behind the four-wheeler on an old car hood. I got my first 4 wheeler (which I shared with my brother) when I was 5. Oh, and, my mom works for an arms dealer....

Now it's time for some jokes......

A woman decided to have her portrait painted. She told the artist, "Paint me with diamond rings, a diamond necklace, emerald bracelets, a ruby broach, and gold Rolex."
"But you are not wearing any of those things," he replied.
"I know," she said. "It's in case I should die before my husband. I'm sure he will remarry right away, and I want his new wife to go crazy looking for the jewelry."

There were two guys working for the city. One would dig a hole -- he would dig, dig, dig. The other would come behind him and fill the hole -- fill, fill, fill. These two men worked furiously; one digging a hole, the other filling it up again.

A man was watching from the sidewalk and couldn't believe how hard these men were working, but couldn't understand what they were doing. Finally he had to ask them. He said to the hole digger, "I appreciate how hard you work, but what are you doing? You dig a hole and your partner comes behind you and fills it up again!"

The hole digger replied, "Oh yeah, must look funny, but the guy who plants the trees is sick today."

Four best friends met at the hospital since their wives were giving births to their babies. The nurse comes up to the first man and says, "Congratulations, you got twins." The man said "How strange, I'm the manager of Minnesota Twins." After awhile the nurse comes up to the second man and says, "Congratulations, you got triplets." Man was like "Hmmm, strange I worked as a director for the "3 musketeers." Finally, the nurse comes up to the third man and says "Congratulations, you got twins x2." Man is happy and says, "Ironic, I work for the hotel "4 Seasons." All three of them are happy until they see their last buddy jumping all over the place, cursing God and banging his head on the wall. They asked him what's wrong and he answered, "What's wrong? I work for 7up"!

Ok....Last one.....

A man goes on a 2-month business trip to Europe and leaves his cat with his brother. Three days before his return he calls his brother.
Brother 1: So how is my cat doing?
Brother 2: He's Dead
Brother 1: He's Dead! What do you mean He's Dead! I loved that cat. Couldn't you think of a nicer way to tell me! I'm leaving in 3 days. You could of broke me to the news easier. You could of told me today that she got out of the house or something. Then when I called before I left you could of told me, Well, we found her but she is up on the roof and we're having trouble getting her down. Then when I call you from the airport you could of told me, The Fire Department was there and scared her off the roof and the cat died when it hit the ground.
Brother 2: I'm sorry...you're right...that was insensitive I won't let it happen again.
Brother 1: Alright, alright, forget about it. Anyway, how is Mom doing?
Brother 2: She's up on the roof and we're having trouble getting her down.

OK, at cafe' press it says that the person with the store can make a profit, well, I don't want to and I will not give out any tax/identifying information to such a site anyway. (I activated the Sisterhood merchandise design there). If anyone wants to take over this store and take advantage of the profit or give it to a charity, let me know - and - let me know how to transfer it to your name too. (Or maybe my dh could figure out how to do this.)

I may look into just getting a booster instead of the fold-up car seat. Kaleigh will be almost 3 by the cruise.

I bought one of those high back booster seats with the 5 point harness for Haley. It is a lot lighter than her carseat and it still fits in the carry bag so Lenny can carry it through the airport. I use that on the plane and she falls asleep as we're going down the runway and usually sleeps the whole 2 1/2 flight to Orlando. This seat has arm rests and a cupholder too so she loves it since it's like the seats Mommy and Daddy are sitting in. It works great and only cost us about $60 when we bought it. I heard the foldable ones aren't that great for safety so I think the $60 was well spent.

I tried to order but it is only good for U.S. addresses :confused3
Guess S.O.L. again..

Cheers,
Grumbo

Grumbo, if you want you can have your order sent to me and I'll bring it with us with your nametags. Just let me know.

I received a package today from Barb (Mom2BelleandPeterPan) with the requested park maps and such. However there was so much more! I (opps we) also received 2 Grand Californian postcards, a Grand Californian magnet, a Grand Californian pin, a purple mickey ant. topper and a very cute Stitch beanie baby dressed up as the easter bunny!

It was all so incredibly generous of her and very much appreciated.

It is truly amazing how super people are that you have never meet before.

Looking forward to meetine everyone!

Dan

P.S. Barb you will get a private thong dance to thank you in person! Maybe you could sell that on ebay and make thousands of dollars!

I also received a package from Barbara yesterday for Haley and it was a wonderful surprise. She got an adorable Minnie Mouse winter hat with Minnie Ears and bow on top, a cute little Easter Bunny Piglet beanie and a cute little thing that you put in water to make a towel with Winnie the Pooh and Piglet on it.

Barbara - Thank you so much for these beautiful gifts. Haley wore her new hat last night and looked adorable.

I agree Dan - that I can't wait to meet all you wonderful people. We are really going to have a great time with the great friends we've made along the way.

First, Arlene or Barb, I make no money at my Cafe Press Store. You don't have to mark up the items, they will sell them at the price listed. I never sent on any info to them, you would only need to do that if you wanted to make some money on the items and then pay the taxes. NOT ME!!!!

The Ortho says, no cartilage damage, but suspects the muscle that holds the patella in place was over extended and is now torn, very badly bruised, and bleeding. THis can be healed thought gentle therapy, and time. Which is good because I didn't want to spend a lot of $$ on any medical problems. Now I need to get the condo insurance people to call me and arrange payments. It still hurts. I think I will rest it for a wile, matbe chat from the couch. If my router will signal me there.

You all are silly! Post all non family jokes at the other site.

The bright side is that this happened over 5 months before the cruise... at least that's what I told myself when I got shingles! Hopefully you will be 100% by the time of the cruise. Did the ortho give you any good meds for the pain? I'm glad to hear the damage is not as bad as it could have been!

Well I AM glad to be off the codeine becaue I was getting tired of being dopey all the time (well more dopey than usual) but it was necessary. I hope the tylenol does the trick for you (I also had decent luck alternating advil and tylenol).

Today I got a phone call from Chuck at All Seasons. Seems mark told him about my room "issues" and he wanted to make sure that I was being taken care of. Wow, I felt like a celebrity called! What a nice guy. We chatted a while and everything is under control (although it was after the last time I spoke to someone over there). Well, I guess we're making progress. I applied for passport for DD last week--tried on Monday and the photo place was out of film. Thus, we did it on Tuesday--and the passport fee went up on Tuesday! Boo hiss. I sent it off and commented that we couldn't schedule a last minute cruise now. On Thursday, DCL made available more cheapie cabins for our spring break week. Oh well--I can't risk booking it with no birth cert, no passport for her. Guess she'll have to stay home for spring break and clean her room.

A wealthy older lady decides to go on a photo safari in Africa. She takes her faithful pet poodle along for company.

One day, the poodle starts chasing butterflies and before long discovers that he is lost. Wandering about, he notices a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the obvious intention of having lunch. The poodle thinks, "I'm in deep trouble now!" Then he notices some bones on the ground close by, and immediately settles down to chew on them with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap, the poodle exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard! I wonder if there are any more around here."

Hearing this, the leopard halts his attack in mid-stride, and a look of terror comes over him as he slinks away into the trees. "Whew!" says the leopard. "That was close! That poodle nearly had me."

Meanwhile, a monkey watching the whole scene from a nearby tree figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard. So, off he goes. But the poodle sees him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figures that something must be up. The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans, and strikes a deal for
himself with the leopard. The leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here monkey, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine!"

Now the poodle sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back, and thinks, "What am I going to do now?" But instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet, and just when they get within earshot the poodle says.......

"Where's that damn monkey?! I sent him off half an hour ago to bring me another leopard!"
