Okay. So I feel that I am becoming more of a veteran of the boards each day, but this question comes up every now and then:

What does DIS Unplugged mean/stand for?

I assume that DIS means something like Disney Information Society or something cool like that and the Unplugged means that we are not a part od Disney itself.

Is this right or could someone correct me?

Thanks.

I think Pete said DIS stands for Disney Information Station - that was on the anniversary podcast from a couple of years ago. There was some interesting stuff in that podcast. I think I got the name right, but can't be sure. If you can, dig up that podcast from the archives. It was good.

Good thoughts.

I am hoping that a member of the team will see this and post and answer. :thumbsup2

Yep - DIS stands for Disney Information Station.

I seem to remember Corey making the comment once that they named it "Unplugged" to refer to the "unofficial" aspect. I also want to say there was even an official Disney podcast called Disney Plugged In or something like that...

Thanks for the info. I have always wondered but never known the truth.

The "unplugged"part is for the podcast because you don't have to be "plugged in to your computer" in order to have your DIS fix! :thumbsup2

The DIS Unplugged is an offshoot of the DISboards, but since podcasts are portable, you don't have to be plugged in to anything in order to listen. Of course, many listen right from their computers without putting the podcast on an MP# player, so when you do this, you are really listening to the DIS Plugged! :rotfl2:

I assumed the "Unplugged" part referred to the fact that we're all a couple of resistors short of making a complete circuit........maybe that's just me though.

:rotfl2: do you think Pete would have started the DIS if he had known he was going to have to deal with all of us crazies? :joker:

I was waiting for a comment like this. I guess the fact that it came from Kevin shouldn't surprise me. :lmao:

Thanks Kevin. :lmao:

I thought DIS = Disney Information Service (opposed to Station), though perhaps my memory is getting fuzzy.

And yes, there was an official podcast that was "Plugged", which is where the name came from. I think one of the anniversary episodes talked about this.
