Hi guys! I've never posted over here before, but I figured that this is the right place to do it...

My parents are getting older (Dad will be 71 in December, Mom just turned 64 in May). I keep sobbing and freaking out about death. They're both in fine health, but I think about it constantly. I'm scared of them dying. They're both in fine health, and it makes no sense for me to feel this way. I really want to get over these feelings, but don't know how. Any advice to make me feel better would be wonderful.

I really have no advice to offer you. I am in the same boat as you and had it smack me right in the face how precious life really is. My Dad went in for elective surgery in February and has yet to come home. He just had his legs amputated last Friday. We are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Cherish everyday you can with them, thats all I can say.

 I can feel your anxiety level just by reading your post. My mom just had open-heart surgery so I know about ill health in a parent. She had kidney surgery earlier this year.

Is there someone trusted you could talk these issues over with? I would suggest a counsellor, I've been to one myself and it really helped me. Friends can help of course, but they don't know the right questions to ask.

It is so very hard to see the ones you love age and slow down. My parents will be 84 & 89 soon and it has been a long, tough road. I cherish the time I have with them and try to do whatever I can to help. I am also considering seeing a therapist to help me with all I am going through as I know it will be so hard on me when they pass....
