As some of you may remember, I'm the one who had to come back early from my May trip due to a death in the family. Because we didn't really have a vacation (and I got the points back for the nights we missed), we decided we want to go at the end of August in a studio for 8 nights.

Since we're booking it sort of last minute, I was figuring there wouldn't be much availability. Not surprisingly, OKW and SSR are the only resorts that had all 8 nights available. However, I was surprised that many of the resorts were available every night except for maybe one or two nights. AKV Jambo house savanna view and BLT lake view were available all nights except for one. VWL was available all except for two nights. Since we've already stayed at OKW and SSR, those aren't are top choices. But to be safe, I booked OKW and waitlisted all 8 nights at BLT and VWL.

But now I'm thinking that maybe I should book all 7 nights at BLT that are available and waitlist that one night that isn't since obviously there's a better chance of that coming through, then getting all 8 nights together. I figure we can waitlist that until our 30 days from check in time is up (which is basically one month from now) and then if that doesn't come through, then we'll just book our whole stay at OKW and SSR. But I don't know if I should assume that OKW and SSR (for an 8 night stay in a studio) will be available one month out.

Does anyone know what my chances would be - for BLT waitlist for one night to come available in one month's time, or for OKW and SSR to be available at one month out? I know a split stay is a possibility, but everyone in my group isn't up for that. So I ask those of you that are more experienced, what would you do? :)

If the missing day is at the beginning or the end, then I'd do the split stay and go with BLT. You could always pack just 1 (or 2 )bag(s) for that first or last day. If it's in the middle, I'd stay put since it would give you 2 moves (and the associated time lost packing and unpacking).

I would think your chances are good for a single night at BLT to come through on a waitlist. And if the other threads of BLT sales selling faster than anticipated are true then they may declare additional inventory between now and then which would increase your chances drastically.

For me it's a no-brainer since I don't normally like the idea of staying at a spread-out resort. Stay your first night at OKW and then move to BLT. And if your wait list comes through, then you've got it made.

I would take the BLT nights and book the one missing night on cash, while keeping it waitlisted. :)

BLT sounds like the best choice but I didn't think it was open until September!
