What is your "real" name?
What is the meaning of your screen name?

I am SO happy! This thread is doing exactly what I wanted it to do. Thanks so much for participating.
GBShorts
06-17-2009, 10:33 PM
Oo this could be fun. :D
I go by Becca in real life...
and my screen name came from a trick I read somewhere. I was trying to come up with a new username for VMK and had 3 friends choose one word to describe me. I got the words "goofy" "blue" (my favorite color) and "short" (my height). I combined them into goofyblueshorts...but that was too long...so it got even shorter into GBShorts. It stuck. :D

Shasta Mountain in Washington State was the origination as I remember. I was a pretty big boy.

06-17-2009, 11:11 PM
HI - my name is Mona
When I was trying to come up with a screen name, a movie was playing in the background on TV - it's one of my favorite shows/ride at Universal (Twister) - and the line that it comes from always stuck in my mind....
Somthing like......"rabbit is good, rabbit is wise" so I pulled it out from that....nerdy huh:confused:
TheSweetLife
06-17-2009, 11:12 PM
My real name is Melanie and my screen name is TheSweetLife (as you can obviously see by looking left :) ) and I chose that because from as long as I can remember it's always been a sweet time in my life and I want to have that reminder each day. And each day it's still true.

Caroline here.
Mine's a little odd, I guess. It was a line in the old post show of Space Mountain that my husband and I liked to quote (the announcer said it really dramatically, which cracked us up for some reason).
Mine is Boring... I am Tara in real life and before I got married my Initals were TSW (they are TSD now but I am not chning my name and losing my post count)and my birthday is Jan 1978.. hence TSWJan78
Hey, my birthday's Jan 1978! :cake: for you, birth-month buddy. :goodvibes

I'm Paul, hence the "p" in my name. The rest is a truncated version of my last name that's been my nickname as long as I can remember. Not very creative, but I've never had much trouble finding the name available... :thumbsup2

06-18-2009, 12:17 AM
Well my name is Julia and as for my SN...My nickname is Juju to my friends and coworkers and Bean ( no idea where it came from :D) And juju was taken but the reason why they call me JUJU is because I dated the foreign exchange student from germany my freshman year. YellowMickeyPonchos
06-18-2009, 03:22 AM
Well.... I only listened to the podcast and never did the boards until a friend had a question I couldn't actually answer. So I had to join the boards. I figured I had to come up with something that no one would ever turn into a screen name, in order to get one on the first shot (with a last name like Johnson, trying for ID names gets hard....).
So I happened to remember a favorite moment on a spontaneous "I quit my crappy job so let's ditch the husbands and road trip to WDW" vacation with one of my best friends. We got caught with only one yellow poncho to share during a January downpour day and camped out on a bench in front of the Crystal Palace in the rain to people watch the massive throngs of "Yellow Poncho Monsters".
One of my best "peaceful" moments at WDW and one that she and I will always remember!
ziggy298
06-18-2009, 04:19 AM
My real name is Gregor - Ziggy my board name was the name of my first dog when i was a kid.
winotracy
06-18-2009, 05:39 AM
My name is Tracy and I like wine. I'm not a wino, it just sounded better than likeswinetracy or Tracylikeswine.
My original DIS name was first initial and last name, but I didn't like having my real name on magnets on my stateroom door on the ship.
Renysmom
06-18-2009, 06:10 AM
My real name is Kelly and Reny was our dog at the time.. Sadly he has gone on to dog heaven but I keep the name.
Dismom+two
06-18-2009, 06:28 AM
My name is Brenda.
My name was created when I found this site when I was planning a trip to DISney with my 2 kids.... hence...Dismom+two
cslittle999
06-18-2009, 07:10 AM
I'm not creative either. It's my initials plus last name. The number is because cslittle was taken and so was 1 and 2 so I just jumped to 999. I've been tempted to change it to something more creative a couple of times.
jeanigor
06-18-2009, 07:27 AM
My name is Kevin and legend has it that I was I found in a basket on the monorial in 1871.
Ok...the only part of that that's true is the fact that my name is Kevin.
Wow. Now I see why you are sooo wise!!!:worship::worship:
Mine is weird. Mine comes from middle school French class. We all chose alias' to be known by to help us immerse ourselves in the culture. I wanted something odd, peculiar, out-of-the-ordinary (if you've met me--you may understand why). One of the things the professor said (probably tongue in cheek) was that if you are a guy, putting Jean- in front of practically any name made it French (as with Marie for the ladies). At the time I had just found the wonders of Mel Brooks and Young Frankenstein. So I became Jean-Igor. (Actually it's Eye-gor:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: ). The name stuck through high school and old school mates still call me by it. I even have a set of Mickey Ears with it embroidered on the back.:goodvibes
YoYoAurora
06-18-2009, 08:06 AM
My name is Kevin and legend has it that I was I found in a basket on the monorial in 1871.
Ok...the only part of that that's true is the fact that my name is Kevin.
Oh Kevin, thank you! I needed a chuckle today! :goodvibes
My name is Susan. There are fifty eleventy million Susan's out there - it was a very popular name at one time.
My DISBoard name (YoYoAurora) came from one of my YoYo sisters. She knows that my Dad had his Disney princesses. My sister is Cinderella. I'm Aurora. My nieces are Belle and Ariel.
So, DH and I were planning a Disney trip and my YoYo sister tells me that I need a t-shirt with YoYoAurora on it. I didn't make the shirt, yet, but used the name for DISBoards. :thumbsup2
safetymom
06-18-2009, 08:21 AM
My name is Kathy. My late husband gave me the nickname after the newspaper did a story on me about the child safety seat rental programs that I set up. The newspaper quoted me as Safetymom. When I came to the DIS I wanted Disney Mom but that was taken. I used that name on other Disney boards like Prodigy and AOL. I picked safetymom but didn't think I would find a home here. Now I can't imagine being anywhere else.
tinkbutt
06-18-2009, 08:27 AM
Katie here..... My DBF (Brian) calls me a tink butt because I am small and I can be a butt to him sometimes. plus I love tink have a tattoo and all.... so the name was unique enough to work on the first try and get a few laughs:thumbsup2

My real name is Jamie....
I joined this forum because we were going for the basball
tournament and guess my imagination wasn't around that
day.
I have been thinking of changing my screen name; I guess I
should do it before I accumulate too many posts!
BTW I love the screen name TinkButt!!! :rotfl2:
I would have Tink somewhere in my name too...
DisneyDaddy-O
06-18-2009, 08:38 AM
Hi all,
Nick is what I go by in "real life".
On our first trip to the world as a family, my younger son was stuck like glue to me the whole trip and started calling me Daddy-O. I thought it was really cute and it has stuck since. Both kids to this day call me Daddy-O, and since the name started in Disney...... :goodvibes
ScubaD
06-18-2009, 08:44 AM
My real name is Dave. When my DW got me started I had to come up with a screen name and since my DS and I were scuba diving at the time I used ScubaD. I wanted a space between Scuba and D but thought that, like other usernames, you could not use a space So I became ScubaD.
Good question OP. This is fun.
Dave
slapwhitey
06-18-2009, 08:59 AM
I probably have one of the most misunderstood screen names from my understanding. Mine stems from my love of Seinfeld. I read or heard somewhere that he used to check into hotels under the alias Slappy White (an old comic himself I believe) and in my infinite wisdom chose the alias slapwhitey as a bit of an homage. In hindsight probably not a wise choice but it has stuck. I even got an email from Disney.com one day saying that I was banned from there site.....while digging a little deeper I found out it had to do with my username. Sorry for the long, convoluted explanation but just wanted everyone to know for sure that I don't want to slap whitey's....just a silly Seinfeld reference...sorta.
Chris
Becx N Gav
06-18-2009, 09:01 AM
Hi my name is Becky, well Rebecca really but I don't like being called Rebecca
I was always called Beck or Becks at school and I decided to spell it Becx to be different.
DH is Gavin - but preferes Gav so I just did a name for both of us (he would occasionally post) however he now has his own screen name Gav N Becx :thumbsup2
misstheworld
06-18-2009, 09:02 AM
I'm mostly a lurker, listening to the podcast and living vicariously through all of you going to WDW, but just had to chime in!
My real name is Katie and my screen name is pretty simple, too. I joined the boards after we honeymooned there and I miss the world. I still miss it! We'll go back one day. :goodvibes
dgthree
06-18-2009, 09:03 AM
I'm a big fan of the NJ Devils hockey team, so when I originally set up a nick/username on a public forum, I chose devilsgirl3, Devils for the team, 3 for my favorite player on the team. I still use that id on some forums, because I'm just too lazy to change it. =)
But... the whole devils part sort of had a tendency to weird people out when I started posting on non-hockey forums, so I shortened it to dgthree.
That said, in the real world, I'm just Jenn.
teskak
06-18-2009, 09:09 AM
I'm Tracey, and Teska is the name of one of my schnausers, K is the start of my surname.
kab407
06-18-2009, 09:14 AM
kab= my initials
407= my birthday (not the Disney area code as some thought)
Yea, I'm another one missing the creative gene.
bigmoonmullen
06-18-2009, 09:18 AM
This is a very cool thread.
When I was growing up my father's nickname was Moon, taken from the cartoon strip Moon Mullins. My friends started calling me Big Moon and my younger brother Little Moon. My nickname has stuck for the most part throughout the years.
Mark
HunnyBunny
06-18-2009, 09:31 AM
Real name is Tonya... I got the nick name at work when I over heard a little girl call mannequins Honey Bunny's. It was just so adorable and the name stuck for me. I spell it the way Pooh would though, Hunny.
Love this post, great idea! :butterfly
mikelan6
06-18-2009, 09:31 AM
mikelan6 = Mike (as a nickname for Michael) Lan (part of my last name) 6 (1 through 5) were taken.
Now, Michael is my "official" name as it appears on my passport, but is not my true legal name.
My legal name given to me at birth was Mendel - a nice Yiddish name, but I didn't like that, so when I became a citizen, I added Michael as my first name and kept Mendel (named after my grandfather) as a middle name.
Now, you might be asking why the difference between "official" and "legal" names? When I tried to become a US citizen (I was born in Peru), I was unaware that I was automatically a US citizen as my parents became citizens when I was under age, I did not have to go before a judge ... all I had to do was apply for a certificate. Michael is only listed on the back as an AKA!
I hope I didn't bore you all with all the info.
JERME81
06-18-2009, 09:33 AM
My name is Jeremy and growing up there were a couple of kids that could not say my name correctly. They said "Jerme". The 81 in my screen name is the year I was born. JERME81 has also has been on my license plate since I was 16.
This is also my 100th post!! :yay:

dixiegirl
06-18-2009, 10:13 AM
My real name is Mary.
My screen name comes from my love of Port Orleans Riverside (which is obvious from my sig) was originally called Dixie Landings - oh and I'm a girl so hence, dixiegirl. :hippie:
FreezinRafiki
06-18-2009, 10:18 AM
My given name is Barry. The first movie my wife (then girlfriend) and I went to see together was The Lion King, and I thought Rafiki was just about the coolest character I'd seen in any movie. Part Shaman, part philosopher, and a kung-fu master to boot.
And despite it being April when I created my screen name after lurking for quite a while it was (to borrow a phrase from Grumpy Old Men) "butt-cold outside." Thus, FreezinRafiki.
And the translation in the signature is a pure guess based on some Google searching. If anyone actually speaks Swahili, please correct any grammar mistakes you may find in it.
barrbr
06-18-2009, 10:35 AM
Hi my name is Brent. My screen name is a combo of some letters of my last name and some from my first name.
DWGal210
06-18-2009, 10:42 AM
Hi everyone!
My real name is Katie. I chose DWGal (short for Disney World Gal) for obvious reasons  and 210 is in reference to my birthday, which is February 10th.
This is a neat idea! I like finding out about the people behind the screen names. :thumbsup2
insoin
06-18-2009, 11:19 AM
My real name is Scott
insoin comes from where I used to live. IN SOuthern INdiana. I have had that s/n for years. Back when a lot of the s/n I saw were based upon where you lived. So... I picked that. But now I live in Kentucky. But innoky does not sound as cool. :rotfl:
hideeh
06-18-2009, 11:20 AM
Nothing exciting for me. hideeh = my first name Heidi and the first initial of my maiden name which also happens to be the same for my married name. Hedges. I did not get hit with the creative or athletic stick.

06-18-2009, 11:21 AM
I am Tracey. Mine is My First Initial, Middle Initial, and My Last Name. Yes, My last name is COKE. And trust me I have heard it all over the years with variations using other popular beverage names...Tracey Pepsi, Dr Tracey Pepper, so you get the drift... :lmao:
I use this Screen Name on other boards, so I just kept it the same here as well.

It just needs to be Kyana or Indy-ucky. (as you can note from my local, I live in the Louisville Metro area, too.
I definitely win the award for least creative!!!
Mine is my old initials, when I signed up it was to get information only. I had no idea I would start to post, and absolutely no idea how much the DIS would change my entire life!!!
T M L were my maiden name initials, my first husbands last name started with an I .... therefore TMLI was what I used. My tag says wants to be known as tmlh because H is my current last name from my current and final husband  I don't want to change it because I don't want to lose my post count.
Todd, I am so glad you posted. Chris and I have discussed your name mor ethan once and what it could mean!!!
Forgot to say my real name is Tracey!!
maroo
06-18-2009, 11:40 AM
My name is Mary.
I picked maroo because that is what my friends call me!
So feel free to call me Maroo or Mary. :goodvibes
and this is a great idea for a thread...
I wonder if we can start a list that can be updated? :confused3 I need a reference! I was going to make a spreadsheet. :sad2:
tggrrstarr
06-18-2009, 11:53 AM
My name is Kelli.
My username is also my email address. Starr was the name of my dog growing up and I have "collected" stars ever since. Tigger is one of my favorite Disney characters, but when I created my email address I didn't want any numbers in it, so I removed the vowels and added the extra R in tggrr to match the extra R in starr!
My husband's username is obi_mic. This is also his email, obiviously he Loves star wars, and his first name is Mic.
SpaceMtnFan
06-18-2009, 11:59 AM
My name is Ron. My screen name was chosen for the fact I love Space Mountain and i am a Huge fan of this classic attraction since my first visit to Disney World in 1981.
Dodie
06-18-2009, 12:05 PM
My screen name is Dodie because my name is Dodie.
I've been on the DIS forever (even before the 1999 date that shows in my profile - since we all had to reregister several times early on). It never ocurred to me way back then to try to come up with something clever, since my name itself is fairly uncommon.
Willow1213
06-18-2009, 12:17 PM
I love this idea!
My real name is Abigail but everyone call me Abby (except at work - but its catching on there too)
My screen name comes from waaaay back when I got my first email address. I used to love Buffy the Vampire Slayer and my fave character was Willow. Then since willow was taken I had to add some numbers - so I added my age. I was one month away from being 13 so I put 1213 since I was in between. :rotfl: Stupid in retrospect, but hey, I was really young. I should just tell everyone its my birthday or something.
Hpyhiker
06-18-2009, 12:21 PM
Well, my real name is Darrel.
My screen name is Hpyhiker. I picked it way back in the early 80's when file names were limited to 8 characters. It was actually an abbreviation for Happy Hiker. My two daughters, gotta luv them, insist that it really means Hippy Hiker. Well, I did a lot of "growing up" in the 60's....maybe they're right! :cool2:
DSNY4ever
06-18-2009, 12:24 PM
My real name is Leah.
I hate my screen name because it is so boring, but I have so many posts now I don't want to start again as a newbie. After lurking for a long time, when I finally decided to say something, I didn't have time to think of a clever name (something cute or funny including my favorite character or movie), I thought it had to be like a license plate or a pin code and include numbers and letters etc. So I went totally generic... Oh well- I will love Disney forever, and it's what's on the inside that counts right? ;)
maiziezoe
06-18-2009, 12:24 PM
My real name is Ann... but almost everyone calls me Annie. I actually like Annie more than Ann.
My screen name comes with a long story. I could give the Readers Digest version.... but.....
When I was pregnant with my DD-12, three ultra-sounds showed she was a boy. So, my then hubby and I picked out a boy name... Wolfgang. About two weeks before she was born, a friend asked me if I had picked out any girl names "just in case". I decided IF I had a girl and she had red hair, I would name her McKenzie.... IF I had a girl and she had blond hair, I would name her Maizie and if I had a girl and she had brown hair, she would be Zoe. I never thought in a million years I would have a girl after three boy untra-sounds...
SHE was born with red hair and became McKenzie but I still loved the names Maizie and Zoe so I named my cats Maizie and Zoe. Our cat Zoe is actually a boy but I didn't know that when I named him a girl cat name.

FairyGodmotherJen
06-18-2009, 12:44 PM
This is fun!
Ok, I'm Jen (yeah, I know). My "claim to fame" (sad, but true) was being cast as the Fairy Godmother in our version of Cinderella my jr. year of HS. I'd always liked the "godmothers" in the princess movies, anyway, but after that I tried to find things with the Fairy Godmother on it. Just for the record, there isn't much! Of course, FairyGodmotherJen is WAYYY too long, but as many others have said, I don't want to go back down to 0 in the post counts! I did try another board as "FGJen", but I don't even remember how to log in there, it's been so long!
Good to "meet" all of you...again, I guess!
woodleygrrl
06-18-2009, 12:53 PM
Hi there! my real name is Jennifer and I live in Washington , D.C. I live in an area of town called Woodley Park. if you have ever visited the best city in the nation, it is the area of town where the National Zoo is. In fact, in the mornings, if the wind is blowing just right you can hear the monkeys "talking" to each other from our window.
The grrrl part is my homage to riot grrrl punk music from the early 90's.
aspen37
06-18-2009, 01:05 PM
Hi my real name is Anna.
My screen name is very boring. Aspen is where I live and the 37 stands for the age I was when I set up the login name. So I'm now aspen37.
safarihatguy
06-18-2009, 01:09 PM
Love this thread.
My name is Jon.
During our honeymoon at WDW I needed a hat and the only one I could find that would fit my head was a safari hat from Animal Kingdom. I have worn that hat for 10 years and purchased another for during our 10th anneversary trip last year. It has become part of me and part of my disney memories. That is why I am safarihatguy.

Stitchmistress
06-18-2009, 01:19 PM
My name is Sharon.
I knit. A LOT. There is a great knitting website called Ravelry. When I was picking my screen name, I asked my DD for help. She suggested "Stitchmaster", and I said, no I'm a girl, I'll use "Stitchmistress". :cool1: I really liked it and use it as my screename for many different social networking websites.

Another creative one here. It a combination of my computer of choice since 1992, my gender, birth month and year.
mickeytattoo95
06-18-2009, 01:33 PM
Yes, I do have a tattoo of Mickey! I got it 14 years ago and it's on my back, not quite on my butt , but just below the belt line on one side. I love wearing a black bikini and you just see it over that. I know I sound like I'm trash with a tattoo on my butt, but it's very small and reminds me of the happiest place on earth.
The guy who did it drew it free hand! He should have been in animation. He was amazing. It lasted through 2 pregnancies and still looks great! :cool1:
The only downside is when my 5 year old asks when she can get her own "sticker" that never washes off...hmm...should have thought about that back in college!
wishspirit
06-18-2009, 01:36 PM
My name is Kate, and my name is pretty silly really! I chose Wishspirit when on a game site (a very long time ago, called neopets), anyway they had so many user names on that site, and I didn't want numbers after my name. So after a lot of brain ache, no one had this name, and it kind of stuck!
Slightly embarrassing!

timmac
06-18-2009, 01:47 PM
I think I'm close to the top of the uncreative list. "Tim" is my first name, and "Mac" is a shortened version of my last name.
That said, it's also a handle I've used in many other places before I joined these boards, so it was easiest to just stay with what worked.

I'm Lori, and yes, I have that in my signature. But that still doesn't stop people from calling me "Briar" or "Rosie".
Years back, when I had wanted to pick out an email address, I wanted to pick Briar Rose from "Sleeping Beauty" as my email address. But it was already taken, so I used this variation.
So I've been BriarRosie everywhere I've signed up on message boards.

auroralark
06-18-2009, 05:59 PM
Well, as it says in my sig, my name is Lauren. I chose my screen name because Aurora is one of my favorite princesses, and Lark has been my online "tag" since my AOL days over 10 years ago.

06-18-2009, 07:09 PM
Hi, I'm Alicia. :wave2:
I chose Cocowum because when I joined the DIS DD and I were obsessed with Pocahontas. Specifically, the music. In the song Just Around the River Bend Pocahontas sings...
Should I choose the smoothest course
Steady as the beating drum?
Should I marry Kocoum?
Is all my dreaming at an end?
Or do you still wait for me, Dream Giver
Just around the river bend?
I know I spelled it wrong but I do love the name! :upsidedow
BTW: This is the real Kocoum -----> http://www.nationmaster.com/wikimir/images/upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/7b/Dgkocoum1.gif :teeth:
Minnie Lor
06-18-2009, 07:11 PM
Ok, I'll add mine. I'm Lorie as you see in my siggy. Growing up my family and good friends called me Lor. The Minnie part is because I love Minnie Mouse :cutie: hence Minnie Lor.
EPCOT is a verb
06-18-2009, 07:31 PM
This is fun to read!
My turn...
I'm Sharon. I chose my name because epcot is our favorite park. We spend at least part of almost every day of our trip there. "When's it time to epcot?" makes epcot a verb!
eazyeray
06-18-2009, 07:59 PM

Bornteach
06-18-2009, 08:24 PM
Hi! I am Kristin!
Back in 1995 when I joined AOL I taught 5th grade and used Bornteach as my screen name.
I knew I wanted to teach when I was in 1st grade and when I got my first job, the principal introduced me that way on the first day to the whole staff. "This is Kristin and she was born to teach."
It kinda stuck...

06-18-2009, 10:07 PM
Hi my name is Sharon. :)
Last year while I was searching for information about Disney to take my family on a very short notice trip I found the dis boards. Since I just needed info fast I signed up quickly without thinking. I used the screen name
xbwkq1v :scared1: (my work id).
Well when I came back from Disney I found myself constantly on the boards and listening to the podcast. I was afraid to post anything under that odd screen name. This year I couldn't take it anymore and really wanted to start posting and stop lurking so I had to come up with a new screen name. I am a mom and Goofy is my favorite Disney character. Hope I didn't bore you! :rolleyes1

Spacemonkey comes from one of my trips to the air and space museum where I came across the one of the monkeys that NASA used in their early test flights. It was in its little spacesuit thing. So there you go..... spacemonkey.:thumbsup2

Someone was in chat tonight! :lmao:
I'm John, my wife is Katscradle, but I will let her explain that one.
My family has 3 guys and 1 gal, soooooo...:dance3::cheer2:
Yeah, I'm real creative as well. :sad2:
Hi! I'm katscradle wife of 3guysandagal.
I picked my name like this.
My name is Katherine and a favorite song of mine that was playing on the radio when I was trying to pick a name was "cats in the cradle"
That is where katscradle comes from.
Then when I posted my first post someone asked me why katscradle?
I replyed that I live in a small home with 3 males. This cradle is all mine, dishes, laundry, cleaning, cooking, and my name is Katherine,
My favorite character is snow white. She know's what it's like to live with a bunch of males. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
Jacksmom99
06-18-2009, 11:44 PM
I don't have the creative gene either....
My real name is Kim, one of the many :thumbsup2. Back in 2001 DH found the DIS and convinced me that I needed to join and read up on the funny people debating pool hopping on the DVC board. Well, I couldn't think of a screen name, so he came up with it, DS name and the year he was born. At the time Jack (now 10) was only 2 and DD was not even a twinkle in anyone's eye. I had no idea that the Dis would become such an addiction for me, or that my second child would ask, "where's my name, mom??":confused3:lmao: Poor child, doesn't #2 always get shafted?:rotfl2:
My original AOL screen name from the 90's was Mainegirl1, but I think that was taken here when I tried it. Again, nothing I created, just where I grew up.

ROFL! It's funny how we could have a two syllable name, yet our families would shorten it to "Lor". I used to hear "LOR!" whenever a family member wanted me to come to whatever room they were in, since they were too lazy to come to me! :rotfl2: And back in the day before we had a TV with a remote control, "LOR!" would be my cue to change a channel. I was such an obedient child...but that changed quickly.

Mine was used very sweetly, like "Lor could you do...?" When I was in trouble it was "Lorie Marie....."
Also in my childhood I went by Lo. My sister even gave me the name of Aunt Lo when she had kids. Now that they are in their late teens and early 20's I'm called "A. Lo". :thumbsup2
Pryncesa
06-19-2009, 12:39 PM
Well, my real name is Tressa...not Teresa, Theresa, or Teressa. ;)
I'm a huge Prince fan. So, when I was way younger, I called myself Princess (since I would certainly eventually be his wife :rotfl:). As I began to learn Spanish, it became Princesa, which I later changed to Pryncesa. So, I use it almost everywhere.
chickie
06-19-2009, 01:11 PM
My name is Jackie. As a kid, my brother gave me the name "chic", for chicken, when my parents bought a farm. He also called my sister Rosie "Roo", for rooster. He tried to give all my siblings a "farm name", but mine was the only one that really stuck.
Chic was taken already, and my dad always added the ie to chic, so I am now "Chickie" here.
To this day my family and many of my friends still call me "Chic"!
KatheeME
06-19-2009, 02:11 PM
My name is Kathee and I live in Maine. Pretty boring I know!
My name is Tammy. Years ago when I found the DIS, I went into chat and had to come up with a screen name. Baloo was taken, so I used Kaa because I had a small Kaa on my desk. When Pete went through one of many server changes, he registered the moderators and I became Kaa on the boards. Over the years, many people thought my initials were KAA.
Princess Figment
06-19-2009, 03:25 PM
My name is Julie. I wish I were a princess in real life. Yes, even as a grown up. Figment is my favorite Disney character. And since he's all about imagination, I don't think he'd mind a little tiara.

Boardwalker
06-19-2009, 04:53 PM
I'm Ann.
I am a DVC member at the Boardwalk.
I found the discussion boards... and Boardwalker sounded better than boardlurker, so I jumped on it.
I have had some insecurity with it a few times, thinking it sounded like a streetwalker on the Boardwalk...... but I have gotten old enough not to worry about what someone else might think.
Yeah... so silly.
Right?
You don't think that ... do you? Guys? Really?
I'd better check to see if Boardlurker is taken...

I'm Christy and I combined two of my favorite things - Minnie and my garden! I have a collection of disney garden statues in my garden and it is where I go when I want to get away - and can't get to the world. ;)
L.E. Ott
06-20-2009, 11:46 AM
My name is Stephan and I have been sober for........oh, wrong board.
Ok, here's the reason for my name. The first Disney movie I remeber seeing is Pete's Dragon. At the time, I couldn't quite say Pete's, so to me, it was Peach Dragon. Elliot is the Dragon's name, so hence, L.E. Ott.

If I had known how long I would have stuck around these boards I would have thought about my screen name a little more. It's just my initials and my favorite number. Kind of boring. :confused3

disneyfienddan
06-20-2009, 05:34 PM
My name is Dan.
I tried to be creative with my screen name, but that didn't go too far. I know I had a hard time picking any one character to use. I love them all too much. So, that is the Disney part. I wanted to show how much I crave to read, hear and learn about Disney as a company and as an experience. That is the fiend part.
disneyfienddan ---> me:earsboy:

Ok, I'll play -
Hi, I'm Melissa
Remark44 is my last name backwards (I'll let you figure that out) and 4/4 is my birthday.
Also my ebay name.
Thanks for the fun thread OP!:yay:
Sure, why not...
"JB" are my initials, while "2K" is representative of the year 2000 (the year I established e-mail addresses on all the free services).
Not very exciting, huh?

Chris
Oh my gosh, this had me lol!! Thanks!:thumbsup2
This is a very cool thread.
When I was growing up my father's nickname was Moon, taken from the cartoon strip Moon Mullins. My friends started calling me Big Moon and my younger brother Little Moon. My nickname has stuck for the most part throughout the years.
Mark
I so want to comment on big moon/little moon, but maybe that is my OR manager days coming out in me... Great story behind the name!!
Just wanted to say, cool last name! My maiden name was Falls, so I know all about name variations!
Too cool!! My brother got a safari hat at disneyland when he was about 13 and wore the thing to death! Thanks for bringing back some good memories!
Let’s see…..

Hi Carla, I'm Karla!
SunnieRN, I'm an RN and have mainly worked nights throughout my career. Several times people have asked how I can be so bright and sunny after working 12 hours at night..... yeppers, pretty lame lol. (and in case you're wondering, yes, I worked, no, I haven't been to bed yet). If not, please excuse my rambling,

Mickey_Man
06-22-2009, 01:21 PM
My real name is Dean and I think the screen name says it all - I am a Mickey Man, not a Donald Dude or a Goofy Guy. I think Mr. Incredible is fast becoming one of my favorite characters though - might be in the top three, but after reaching 1000 posts I am NOT changing my screen name!
Stacy's a freak
06-22-2009, 01:42 PM
My name is Stacy and I intended my name to mean "is a freak for Disney" but sadly, I think people see my name and shy away ... as if I'm a freak in real life. But I'm not - I'm mostly nice, I swear! I'm only sometimes freakish :rolleyes1

suzycute
06-22-2009, 10:46 PM
Though you might never have guessed it, my name is Sue! There are so many of us out there but I wanted it as part of my screen name.
As a child, I desperately wanted a doll, who, when you pushed it's tummy, it's arms flicked from being down by it's side to being held out in a "hug" position - this doll was called a "Suzycute" - the lack of sophistication of toys "way back then" probably gives my age away!! Anyway, I thought it would be a cool variation of my real name and memories of a time when I first visited the original Disneyland (I was 8!)

evildiva
06-23-2009, 10:12 AM
My real name is Katie. I chose evildiva, because I have a Maleficent t-shirt that says "Evil Diva" across the back. Since she is my favorite villian I thought it appropriate.
wdwscout
06-23-2009, 02:55 PM
My name is Linda.
I picked wdwscout because at the time I registered, I was preparing to take our Boy Scout Troop to WDW for the second time (once in 2001, and again in 2007).
My boys are both Eagle Scouts now and out of the Troop (in college) so I am not active anymore. But the screen name is still there!
By the way- the trips were fantastic! We had about 45 people each time, flew down from NJ, tent camped in FW, did lots of YES programs, did the MK flag retirement ceremony each time (in uniform), had a few special meals together as a large group (Chef Mickeys, Whispering Canyon, HoopDeeDoo), lots of park time in the evenings, did both water parks, and flew home 9 days later!! Very cool and a highlight for each of the scouts (and chaperones) who attended. :goodvibes

My name is Angie.
My screen name comes from my vocation:
ele = elementary school
mu = music teacher

elemusing. :)
My hubby is DisneyDadFanatic - his read name is Roy. True story - if you are familiar with Robo who posts all the time on the theme parks board and is famous for his maps - my hubby was actually the original Robo on here until the infamous board crash. He lost his username and had to start all over again.
My name is Jack and I have you all beat for lack of creativity. Just my initials, not even a number to give it some pizzaz.
I have a b'zillion usernames and wanted one easy to remember but didn't want (at the time) to use my typical username as it includes my last name. I never planned on posting either - I just registered to make the ads go away while I researched our next WDW trip.
But if I had it to do all over again . . . I probably still would be totally uncreative.

I live in Aurora, IL... Home of Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar.
My screen name is one I started using when I was a Freshman in college in 1996. The Yitbos is an identifying mark of the fraternity I was in, 96 was the year I pledged and BB stands for Beta Beta, which was our chapter at Mizzou.
I should change it at some point, but I have used it for a LONG time.

MonkeyPants
06-27-2009, 01:40 AM
real name Kevin
the origin of the name comes the game Ape Escape (which had monkeys not apes) I just found the game insane hillarious, you had to capture monkeys who had wear hats that make them more intelligent, but I also recall (or think I do its been so long now) a scene at the start of the game where a pants factory blows up and well the monkeys get pants

OK, here is my story. When Pete hired me he said that I needed to check out the boards and get to know everyone. I lurked for awhile and when I finally decided to post I came up with the name tessdoesdisney. My nickname before I moved was tess, so I thought it would be cute because I would be going to Disney alot. Pete and Walter both told me that it sounded like porn. So I switched to newmouse2008. it was 2008 and I was new to everything Disney. :earsgirl:

Since I have so few posts, though (being mostly a lurker), I wouldn't mind changing it, I'm just not sure how. Do I have to just start over with a whole new profile, etc?
Yes, you would have to start fresh with a new profile.

:wave2: Hi, my name is Kerry. I'm mainly a lurker and finally discovered and started listening to the podcast within the last year, before that I never visited the Podcast Forum, because I had no idea what a podcast was.
I wanted a screen name that was Disney related either something from the parks or from the movies. Timon is of course from The Lion King, which DH and I really love and it ties into our surname Timmons. 711 is for my birthday July 11th.
I just wanted to say hello to everyone and thank the OP for the great thread!

Zzizzy

This thread could use a bump, so I thought I'd contribute.
I thought my screen name was my real name? ;) Sometimes I wish it was so. Alter-egos are far more fun that real life.
My real name is Wayne. You don't see that name on many babies anymore. It was popular in the 50's and the name of my Dad's best friend at the time.
My screen name (Zzizzy) was the character name I used for Disney's VMK (Virtual Magic Kingdom). For those that don't remember, VMK was an on-line "roll playing" game that Disney introduced during Disneyland's 50th anniversary celebration. I really loved playing that thing, even though it was very simple compared to most MMO RPGs. It was the Disney flare and the hook back to the Disney parks that made it special.
Anyway, when I first signed up, I needed a screen name, so I just started typing letters until something looked interesting. After a while I typed "Zizy" and that went to "Zzizzy" (pronounced ziz-zee).
disneym2m

I will continue the bump....
My name is Melissa
disneym2m came from wanting something Disney in the name and the first m came from my maiden name and the second m came from my married name, hence
disneym2m. Of course since I have 4 initial M in my name I should change to disneymmm2mmmm....no I don't think so....:lmao:
PK Disney Dork

Real name is Becky, I have a DD Hallie who was born in 2001. So Halliesmommy01. My poor DS Tyson gets ripped off. Tyson was a very happy surprise as I was told I would need medical intervention to have another child.
Decorated_Dust
08-19-2009, 11:53 PM
My name's Ashley. Hey there. :goodvibes
My screen name has a double meaning. On one hand, it references Genesis 2 in that man was made out of the dust of the earth and God breathed life into him (hence the "decorated" part). Also, one of my favorite authors is Madeline L'Engle of A Wrinkle in Time fame. She always used to remind people that we are made of stardust, which is a scientific fact. Both of these remind me of my humble beginnings as a life form and how I would be nothing without the One who set it all in motion.

08-20-2009, 06:50 AM
Ashley/Decorated_Dust - I loved your name to begin with, but the added explanation just makes it even better!
I'm Pam and disneydreamgirl comes from my returning to WDW after many years during the initial year of a million dreams and joining the boards in the second. The name was appropriate for me as I used to have dreams of WDW as a little girl (truth be told I do now but that could be due to the uber-planning regimen I adhere to :) ) From 1971 on we would spend one day of our Florida Christmas trip at MK - we were a group of 5-10 families depending on the year that would travel in convoy from Daytona singing Disney tunes at 5 a.m. to make sure we would be there when the park opened and we'd close it up when they kicked us out - they were long and magical days!
I was surprised the name hadn't been taken already and it was the first thing that came to mind for me...
Royster83
08-20-2009, 07:29 AM
Mine's quite simple does anyone remember Royster's crisps (chips)?
Well many years ago when I was originally looking for an e-mail address they were popular, with my 'real life' name being Roy people just started calling me it! The 83 comes from the year I was born, but it's my name for EVERYTHING :lmao: every board I belong too, every e-mail address I have. It has stuck because I have never had one of those "somebody already has that name" messages if I've regeistered for something :thumbsup2
I'm unsure if that puts me in the un-imaginative category or not :confused3

Maingal, the original poster's words are in black, and mine are of course, in PINK!: I am trying to get to know people and I am sure others are trying to do the same thing.
What is your "real" name? Jenni (well, Jennifer, but only Mom calls me that, and sometimes I use it professionally.)
What is the meaning of your screen name? This is so dorky! My nickname for my husband is Doodle. His nickname for me is Bug. So online I became The Bug. [Think about it - Doodle...Bug...get it?] That morphed into JenniBug. I love pink. I have an EXTREME, out of control love for pink. Wear it all the time. princess: So, at some point I needed a user name and 'TheBug' was taken, JenniBug (can ya' believe it?) was taken, and I became JenniBuginPink. :cutie: Now I'm Jenni Bug in Pink EVERYWHERE. In real life, virtual life, even in my dreams...:cloud9:
Lyn Interestingly, My DH's name is Lynn, too! :upsidedow

This is a fun one!
My real name is Amiee (or EE as a nickname).
My screen name is one that I use for everything, simply because I am not creative. It's my initials first, then my son and daughter's initials. Not very crafty, but it works or me.

My name is Libby ( If it says Libby Libby Libby on the label label label! You know you remember it!!! )
My sn is sort of obvious like hundreds of other women on this site I was planning my honeymoon. Since I didn't have the dates picked for our honeymoon I used our wedding date 10/21.

While I can be a little odd myself, DH has taken being Goofy to a whole new level when entertaining DD...

My real name is Laura.
I have two Labrador Retrievers who are agility dogs. I trained and handle them myself. Augusta, now age 9 1/2 was ranked #36 in the nation in 2006 in UKC Agility II. She is now retired, having won over 40 titles and 15 championships. She blew her knee in January of this year and that ended her career. She would love to run again, and as much as I would love to put her in the ring, and as much as it breaks my heart to leave for a show without her, I will not put her health in jeopardy. She has given me everything. My baby is Grace, who is about 10 runs away from her first championship. Both are very active, very spirited girls who are, in my life, the sun that rises in the morning and the moon in the sky at night.

I'm Katarina. (Kat-uh-ree-nuh... not Katrina... - sorry for that but if people said your name wrong all the time you would do it too! haha)
My screenname comes from my dream- I want to be a performer at WDW~ A Disney dancer! The bella part is just meant to be beautiful- I hope my dancing lives up to that title. Other places i'm "futrDisnedncr"- but when I registered here I was (and still am) hoping that at some point I wouldn't be a future dancer any more, but a present dancer haha

I'm Dustin, otherwise known as evil heel bad guy manager of the DeathStars Sir Owen on the WV indy wrestling scene. My screenname....mmm well its a very long story. I'll try to explain as best as possible without getting too much heat. The 3 initials belong to the woman who has had my heart since 2005 & the same person who introduced me to the DIS. She's on the DCL forums & I stick to the Theme Park ones. We have been through a whole lot in the past several years, completely lost touch & she has moved on with someone else & started a new family. I'm happy for her but still wish it could've been me. I still hope for the one miracle that one day it is but its not very likely, still she means the world to me & the name is a memory of a much happier time. If you are that curious of the whole story, I don't mind telling it but i'm not posting on the board, just pm me & i'll explain.
But yep that's just me, in a nutshell.

My real name is Terrhetta. But, everyone calls me Terrie..it's just easier. How I got my real name is that my parents names' are Terry and Rhetta(my mom is named after Rhett Butler)and they combined their names together. So...I get called Terrie by most people.
As far as my SN goes...I've always been called babygirl...but that was taken. So..soon after my first trip...I found this wonderful site called the DISboards...anyone ever hear of it?!?!?:rotfl::goodvibes So....baby1disney is from babygirl and 1disney is for my first trip to Disney/on the DIS when I signed up!!!:woohoo:
So...thanks to my MIL..who's on the boards as well....and my DH who took me to the best place on EARTH!!!! I have been completely hooked!!!!
deide71
08-24-2009, 12:00 PM
I wonder how many people just chose something arbitrary or easy to remember and got stuck with a screen name they don't like?
That happened to me. I joined the Dis in 2005 when I was researching a DVC purchase. I chose my work logon (it has since changed) which I also used for my email address at the time.
It is actually my first initial (D=Denise) and last name ( Eide my husbads family pronounces it like ID but in Norweigen it is pronounced like aidah). And yes I was born in 71, but it is also the year Disney World opened so that is kind of neat.
I'd love to change it to something more clever, or easier to pronounce, but now I am stuck.
So Deide71 I will remain.

sunshine girl
09-23-2009, 11:54 PM
My name is Laura. I picked "sunshine girl" because I think it sounds so nice and happy, it just makes me smile. I'm a happy person, so it fits. Plus I love the sunshine and I love the sunshine state!
Little did I know when I picked that username that I'd soon end up actually living in the sunshine state! I was living in Chicago... literally right after I picked my username, I got a job offer in Florida and ended up living there for over three years. It was fate!!!
I still smile every time I see "Welcome, sunshine girl" at the top of my page on the boards.

09-24-2009, 12:08 AM
Hi! My name is Shanan.
My husband Jason (aaronmckie) joined the DISboards and I soon followed him. I wanted a SN that was kinda like his so I chose our sons name Aaron Mickey just shortened to A.Mickey...because out of all the people on the boards...I am just one of the many Mickey lovers (A Mickey), so my screen name kinda has two meanings, if that makes any sense.
solar
09-24-2009, 03:20 PM
Hi I'm Deb. I live in NJ. I chose solar because most names with sun or sunshine are usually taken, so it's a spin on the sun. I've used it other places as well.
I am an upbeat, positive person, and love the sunshine. It just makes me happy to enjoy a nice sunny day.
I've been on Dis for a couple years, lurked for the first 2 or so...and just started listening to the Dis podcasts! I'm on my 3rd one today...love them. Didn't realize what I've been missing.
You've got a new fan!
kafitty
09-24-2009, 04:13 PM
my handle here is the same it is everywhere else. if you ever run into another kafitty, on pretty much ANYTHING - that's me! And for the record, it's KUH-fitty, not KAA-fitty. That's how my brain pronounced it when i first saw it, and that is how it shall stay. :snooty:
how i first saw it, however...that's a story.
the short version: went to sign my name (Kait) on a note to a friend in 9th grade Spanish class. When i signed it real quick, it looked like it said, "Kafit." i had one of those no-laughing-at-a-funeral moments and COULD NOT STOP GIGGLING. My teacher ended up making me leave the classroom, and i ended up in the hallway in fits of laughter for the rest of the class period.
Naturally, we told all of my friends this story, and they started calling me Kafit, and then feminized it into Kafitty. i'm only 5'2", so sometimes i'm "Itty Bitty Kafitty"...but no worries, i am NOT part of a certain committee...
so i've been using it since around 2000 as my screennames/user handles/emails etc., and have around a 99.99% success rate at registering it. Pretty nifty, huh?

My name is Rhea and I'm Live2Plan, because, well, that's what I do! Seriously, I Live to Plan! :rotfl: If I don't have a list going somewhere or a plan of some sorts in the works, I go into major withdrawal!:rotfl2:

Fluufy (the bird *flew*/ you owe a *fee*) is the little puffball i have placed in my sig for your viewing pleasure, he is a character i created a few years ago that has kind of become the embodiment of my inner thoughts that are generally much more happy than i appear on the outside, but like anyone else i can get angry/upset and all that stuff too and thats what the second picture is, my alter ego's evil alter ego :p
oh, and of coarse he is named Fluufy because he is in fact fluffy :thumbsup2
lurkyloo
09-25-2009, 07:29 PM
My name is Carrie! I used to lurk on the Weddings & Honeymoons Board a LOT. So when I finally joined the DIS so I could post something, I thought it fitting that my screen name be the message board equivalent of a lookyloo - a lurkyloo! :cutie:

09-27-2009, 08:24 PM
My real name is Kristin. My middle initals are kab. I work for Marriott and we have to put our initials on everything so one of my coworkers started calling me kabbie. Pretty much stuck at work. It's funny how I'll see her out and about and she'll scream it in her infectious way.
