View Full Version : What are your top 3 podcasts? (Disney and Non-Disney)

Since there is no podcast for this week, lets share our top 3 podcasts. We all love the Disunplugged, but are there others that you like on other topics? (Are there any other topics?) :rotfl:

So lets list some podcasts, maybe we'll find something to tide us over.

Top 3 for me:

Disunplugged
Limenviolet (a knitting podcast, but they are very funny, and even non-knitters may like them b/c they never stay on the topic of knitting)
3 Wine Guys (I love wine, and I have learned a lot, not family friendly.)

Others worth mentioning:

I like TV, so the TV talk podcast with Ducky and GMMR is good, (They would be in my top 3, but they don't update enough)

I like the soaps, so the Pine Valley Podcast is very funny to me. It is commentary about "All My Children" along with a smattering of other TV shows with a Latin flair. Very funny!

So what others do you all like? Turn me onto something new!

I actually only listen to 2 besides the Dis Unplugged...

I listen to the WDW Radio show, hosted by Lou Mongello, and That's What She Said, which is a podcast about the show The Office.

There were a few other podcasts I'd listen to sometimes, but they weren't interesting enough to keep bothering with. I'd love to find some new ones since I listen to my iPod all day at work.

I listen to podcasts all day at work of all different varieties. Six of them are WDW related but I'll name a few non-WDW.

Dan Carlin's Common Sense and Hardcore History (one's political talk but I like the history one more)

NPR Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me (comedy/game show/celebrity interviews)

ESPN Baseball Today (it's about...uuhhhh baseball)

and lots of news type podcasts 60 min, Meet the Press, The Economist, Keith Olberman, etc.

Manager Tools. A great podcast on how be an effective manager. It's made a great difference in how I approach leading my team.

Escape Pod. My weekly fix of science fiction. Also check out PodCastle if you're more into fantasy.

Be Our Guest. Fun Disney podcast that has a trip report show on Monday and a roundtable show on Friday. The background music played during the shows can be annoying.

Disney Tidbits. I've just started listening to this show. Tairy Rich delivers show short of Disney/Disneyland trivia and history.

Vinyl Cafe Stories. Podcast segments from the CBC Radio show. Great stuff.

The DIS Unplugged is #1- of course!

But I really enjoy 2 other Disney Podcasts-
#2- WDW Radio Show (Lou Mongello) and
#3- All About the Mouse (Brian Ripper & Jonathan Dichter)

I have a few other Disney Podcasts on my iPod- like WDW Today, Those Darn Cats and Northern Mouse- but I only listen to them occasionally.

I love NPR's Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me... it's hysterical! It's a very close #4.

And I also enjoy This American Life (Chicago Public Radio) and A Prairie Home Companion

Disney related it is: 1) Disunplugged 2) WDW Today occasionally 3) Lou Mongello's if I really need to be put in a positive mood. hahaha

My favorite other podcast is "Smodcast" starring Director Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier. The funniest thing I ever listen to.

I can't believe someone else listed one of my Top 3 - The Pine Valley Podcast!!!! Netcot and WDW Today are other favorites.

Some of these sounds neat - I'm hitting iTunes now!

I like

Slate - political talk (liberal)
Buzz Out Loud - CNET's tech podcast of indeterminate length. If you like tech, they cover it all.
Gadgettes - tech with an attitude, Molly Wood, Kelly Morrison and Jason Howell. They usually do a themed show with several news/discussion segments at the end. Really entertaining.

1. DisUnplugged(I know, shocking!)
2. Wine Library TV- wine tasting ADHD style
3. Scrap Time- video scrapbooking ideas

I have to admit that I've subscribed to 34 of them. I fall asleep with my Ipod on, but never to the above 3 and always to the one that doesn't believe in the amoebas. Something about that voice always puts me out like a light. :rolleyes1

American Radioworks

My top three podcasts right now are:

DIS Unplugged
WDW Today
TWiT (This Week in Tech)

I regularly listen to ~6 different Disney related podcasts and about the same non-Disney podcasts each week. I have about 30 different podcast that I subscribe to and listen to frequently enough that iTunes hasn't stopped downloading new episodes.

Spending 2+ hours a day commuting, the podcast phenomena has really helped the time go by much faster than listening to regular radio did beforehand.

I listen to...

The DIS Unplugged -- 'nuff said.

The Strip Vegas Podcast -- there is sure to be a great interview, and those with Steve Wynn make me laugh every time.

The WDW Radio Show -- there is a lot of good information, albeit can be "too" happy if you get my gist.

DIS is # 1 for me and usually I listen to Mouse Guest too. I've tried a bunch of other Disney ones, but somehow they don't hold my interest. There is one that is pretty good, but one of the guys on it has THE most annoying laugh and I gave it up. (I know how ridiculous that sounds, but it's like nails on a chalkboard to me)

Thanks for the tip about the Vegas one Simon, I'm going to give that one a try! :thumbsup2

I also like Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me.

I love podcasts!! I listen to a lot so it's hard to choose between them for the thrid spot. My top two are easy, though.

1. RELEVANT podcast (sorry DIS Unplugged; I laugh more at this podcast than I do at pretty much anything)
2. DIS Unplugged (the only Disney one I listen to - all the others just tell me more stuff I know)
3. The Onion News Video Podcast (Fake news is awesome)

These are my top 3 as well.

I also enjoy Bill Burr's Monday Morining Podcast and Kevin Smiith's Smodcast. Both are a little on the blue side. And by a little, I mean a LOT. And by blue I mean don't listen in public.

DUP of course is always first..

Other DIS related are WDW Today, Be Our Guest, DL WDW Radio but hardly listen to them as they are way to "happy" and "sweet" so I listen only when I have nothing else ;)

I never miss Jillian Michael's weekly show. The other podcasts on my iPhone include Adobe Lightroom Killer Tips, Photoshop TV, Apple Quick Tips, This week in Photography and Buzz out Loud.

I can't say when they last time I used my car radio, I always have a podcast on. I told John he could cancel my XM subscription as I never use it :)

I recently found a site called Disneypalooza.com. It is fantastic! It lists three headings - podcasts, news and videos I think. The great part is that it updates the podcasts as they come out. The bad part is that it doesn't list the Dis Unplugged but since it is my favorite, I'm always ready to go get it anyway! :) My computer is in my kitchen so I'm happy to just look at the Disneypalooza page and play the most recent podcast on my favorite subject - Disney - while I work!

Besides DIS Unplugged, I've tried a few other Disney podcasts, but so far non have kept me interested. Too much intro/outro music, too repetitive, too scripted, etc
Others that I listen to:
The BS Report - Bill Simmons from ESPN.com
NPR's Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me
Stuff You Should Know

Another thing I was wondering...how to other people listen to their podcasts? I have an iPod shuffle that I listen to in the car on my commute and when walking the dogs.

Inside The Magic

WDW Today
Savage Love (NSFW or kids)

I listen in my car to & from work, which is about 2 hours a day, so I need to have a lot of options. I'm going to have to look up a few of the ones I've seen listed above, too.

I am the same way with Security Now, it just takes too much active listening to be enjoyable but I definitely have "podcast guilt" for not listening to it every time I choose a Disney podcast to listen to instead. :guilty:

Does anyone else suffer from "podcast guilt" for not listening to a particular podcast that they subscribe to or having too many "new" podcasts in iTunes?

DisUnplugged is the only Disney podcast I listen to.

I also listen to:

The Mix - Eric and Kathy in the morning. If you live in Chicago, you may know these two morning drive DJ's. The podcast is daily clips from their show.. WITHOUT commercials. I listen to it every night as I fall asleep.

GNI - Girls Night In. Three women talking about... whatever.

Pink Acres - Two sisters who talk about.... well, what is happening in their lives. One is a city girl, the other is a country girl. SIDE NOTE - the city girl, Christine, her hubby is the guy who is currently flying on AIRTRAN for a month... non-stop. He was also the guy who lived in an IKEA for a week.

ANYTHING by Leo LaPorte... my fave is Munchcast. He and Cammy Blackstone talk about food.

Reality TV Podcast... Rob and Trevor. They are great but it is NOT family friendly. :upsidedow

I'm definitely checking out "That's What She Said" Love The Office, and thanks for the Eric and Kathy tip. I used to love listening to them when I commuted in the mornings, but now my drives are so short in the a.m. that I don't get much.

Another L&V fan, yay! I was wondering about Miss V and SSH, but I don't think so. She is so ADD however, who knows? She is always on the move to the next big thing. I miss Karen! (she took over for Lime for a while). I like Lime, but they never talk about knitting anymore.

I'll have to check out CarTalk. I am getting into Knitmore Girls, good knitting content. :thumbsup2

Fun topic-

1. ESPNU College Football - I'm a college football nut, even more than a Disney nut.
2. Dis Unplugged - no explanation needed
3. Dave Ramsey Show - Some consider it common sense, but common sense isn't very common anymore

My two other Disney Pod Casts are-
-WDW Today- quick, entertaining, and fun
-Inside the Magic - I tend to fast forward through a section or so per show but all in all well done

side note- I tried Ricky Briganti's(sp?) show, but it's not for me. I think it was the review he did that made the T-Rex Cafe sound like the best restaurant this side of the French Laundry that ended it for me.

Another Lime and Violet fan. We are just everywhere. I need to email Miss Violet and tell her how much I love their podcast. And where she can find her fans in the such unrelated places. The next time I get some yarn, I think I am going to get the Lime and Violet from Lisa Souza and the Pink Ribbon Violet. They are both great colors. And of course there are about 20 I want off of Etsy. Etsy is EVIL.

Me Too! How strange is that!

I also listen to Windows Weekly, also hosted by Leo Laporte of TWIT.

I used to listen to the Magical Definition Podcast, but if I have to hear Jim Hill say "Umm" or "Uhh" one more time I'd shoot my ipod. I really enjoy listening to his ruminations on all things Disney, but the last time I listened, I counted 30 "umms" in the course of about 4 minutes. It was driving me crazy!

But Dis unplugged is and always will be number one.

I pretty much stick to the Dis and Things you should know. Things you should know pretty much has useless facts that they talk about.. Its interesting to learn about though. One episode was "What is OCD?" Learned alot

All my podcasts are Disney related, and it is hard to go with just three.

1. DIS Unplugged
2. Be our Guest Podcast (started by a DISer - definitely give it a try!!)
3 tie. WDW Today, WDW Radio

I also download the weekly "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me" weekly news quiz from NPR. Lots of fun!

Great Thread!!

1. Dis Unplugged - best by far :goodvibes
2. Crossroads Public Radio - paranormal ghosthunters :yoda:
3. ?? searching for good Mommy podcast

Have tried Manic Mommies and MommyCast and Parenting Podcast, but nothing sticks. The DIS was my first podcast and leaves everything else wanting. :happytv:

Anybody out there have a good parenting podcast?

In addition to the DIS, I enjoy:

Disney
1. Netcot
2. WDW Today
3. WDW Radio
4. Character Breakfast

Non Disney
1. Basic Brewing Radio
2. Brew Strong

These are both about making beer. In addition to being a Disney geek, I'm also an avid home brewer.

Hey! This is my 100th post. Only took 9 1/2 years to do it!

3. Window to the Magic

I'm pretty new to using and having my IPOD, very interesting to read about other peoples favorites.

This is an easy one...

My top 3 podcasts, in no particular order...

The Dis-Unplugged
WDW Radio Show
Inside The Magic

There are 2 or 3 more that I give an occasional listen to, if I have time, or if one of these takes a week off, but this thread called for the Top 3, so I shall respect the title and only list 3. :smickey:

1- Jillian Michael's weekly radio show
2- Wayne Dyer's weekly radio show
3- Today in iphone - I'm surprised no one else listed this one. It is a great source of new apps!

#1 DIS
#2 Netcot
#3 Magical Definition – Jim Hill is a great source for the big picture. He can balance the good/bad and explain why Disney does what they do.

Plus the usual NPR stuff if the commutes are extra bad that week.

The only two disney podcasts I listen to any more are Dis Unplugged and WDW Today. Originally, I tried quite a few others but ended up removing them.

I would say my top three non Disney are:

Travel with Rick Steves
Wait Wait Don't Tell Me
A Way with Words

I also listen to a number of science related podcasts.

I wasn't much of a podcast listener outside of Disney stuff until I got my dog last year. Now I find myself spending a lot more time with my headphones plugged in.

Disney:
The only 2 besides DisUnplugged I listen to are WDW Today and Mousetalgia

Beyond Disney:
- Smodcast
- Big Kev's Geekstuff
- Comic Geek Speak
- Stuff You Should Know
- Lost Podcast with Jay & Jack
-Mediocre Poker Radio

All very geeky stuff. I just subscribed to a bunch of new ones mentioned here.

This week without a show, I found myself actually listening to MUSIC :rotfl:

Or how about when Jim goes, "Welllll..........." Although I REALLY enjoy listening to Jim Hill. The DIS and Jim Hill are the only two podcasts I can listen to. The others are all too positive for me. I like hearing the business side of things from Jim.

In addition to the DIS, my Disney favorites are:

WDW Today (looooooove Len Testa and the gang)
Be Our Guest (you should definitely try this one!)
Disney Dudes and Those Darn Cats (a tie for 3rd)

Non-Disney podcasts:

This American Life
Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me
Fresh Air

Even more annoying is how he starts 2 out of 3 sentences with the word "again." It drives me insane.

I too really like listening to Jim Hill's (a fellow New Hampshirite by the way) insights and stories. Of all the other Disney focused podcasters out there that I know of, he provides the most unique insight into what is, or rumored to be, going on with the company.
