Thanks to a great upgrade twice at the Dolphin (from a special friend ;) ) we have had the pleasure of having a balcony.

We are now hooked on having a balcony!!! It's almost like having an extra room. We loved going out in the later afternoon or evening if our sons were in chilling on the beds watching TV. We could shut the door and just relish in the sounds of "Florida"!!:)

Early morning is a sweet time, too while drinking coffee!!

If you've never tried a balcony, I would highly recommend it!!;) :)

I did have a balcony at AKL and BWI and no balcony at the poly but I didn't miss it, but it is nice to have that extra space to just sit and relax in the fresh hot air. LOL I loved the balcony at BWI cause I was facing the BW right over spoodles so there was something always going on, IF IT WASN'T RAINING. LOL
AKL Balcony was great, a view of many animals. Polly no balcony but a view of the castle and fireworks that didn't matter

I love sitting out on balconies, especially at night. It's just so peaceful! ;)

I love balcony's. We stay at the CR everytime we go to disney, not oly because we love it there but because of the balcony facing the lake. Early morning and late at night is wonderful. A cup of coffee or a late night drink overlooking the view to me is one important part of my vacation. With the kids asleep, the lights turned down and drink in hand I'm ready to relax and take it all in. We were going to try the CB this July, but as soon as I realized there are no balcony's we changed to CR.

A balcony is very important to me. It allows you to open the door for fresh air yet still ahve privacy from passersby. It gives you a relaxing place to sip morning coffee or evening cocktails. It gives you a place to relax and people watch.

Having a balcony and a great view is VERY important to me and I will spend the extra $$ for it. I get up very early in the mornings and just LOVE sitting on my balcony and watch WDW wake up. One of my absolute favorite things to do.

A balcony is a must for me. We go to WDW during the winter months and after coming from the cold Midwest, it is a real bonus to enjoy the mostly nice Florida weather while on the balcony.

A balcony is great, for sure, but they're more important if we're staying at the beach than at DisneyWorld.

Something about sitting outside and watching the tide come in...

I love balconys, I have had them both times at the Swan. As mentioned earlier, for your morning coffee or evening Cold Beer after a long day in the parks its a wonderful thing:D When we stayed at the Polynesian we had a patio outside our room, very nice for the same reason, but I do like being a little higher up and not along a path and at eye level.

Having a balcony is awesome. We love sitting out on it and just hanging out and looking over WDW...

Balconies are great for sitting back and reflecting on the day's events. I aways read the newspaper with my coffee on the balcony in the morning.:D They are great for "getting away" from the people in your room.;)

Well now....you've all convinced this girl!!! Looks like a balcony at the Polynesian for our next trip. Yippee!!!! It's something I missed being able to do at POR. Would love to have been able to open a window but with the walkway right there you certainly didn't want to open your door and leave it open!!! Thanks for sharing everyone.

Hello Kitty!

My husband and I also love relaxing on a balcony. I miss having one when we stay at one of the moderate resorts.

We stayed at Gaylord Palms (just a few minutes from DW) last week. That was interesting! We had a balcony but we were in a huge atrium. You could leave the balcony doors open because the temperature was always 72 degrees and no bugs, of course. The atrium area was quite pretty, although noisy at night.

We would prefer a balcony outside I suppose. We definately decided that we are only really happy staying on Disney property. :D

I certainly prefer balconies to patios and not having balconies, but it's not as important as a nice view or a good rate.

I really like balconies, too. Especially at the beach, listening to the ocean waves pound the beach.

I also love to have a balcony at the Walt Disney World Dolphin. Last year, it was so nice to sit out on the balcony and look across the lake at the boat launches and the people riding their bikes across the bridge. And the lights at night.

Since I work night shift, most of the time I'll wake up around 4:00 A.M. and sit out on the balcony and listen to the quietness of everything...and then I smile...and then I think to myself how lucky I am to be able to be at Walt Disney World.

We have only stayed in one WDW resort with a balcony, and while it was nice so we could talk while DD took her nap, I can't say that I miss it when we don't have one. It really isn't something I would base my choice of resorts on.

We actually considered staying "offsite" just so I could have a balcony. We had one last trip overlooking WL Courtyard. The view there was just breathtaking. When we are staying at one of the moderates I take my morning coffee and just stand at the railing. I just have to be able to get outside no matter what. Maybe I'm claustrophobic and never realized it but having some way to get fresh air is very important to me.

When we go to Daytona and stay on the beach having a balcony is quite important to me, or at least a porch. I love being right on the beach, and only looking out and seeing ocean. When we were kids we always had a balcony in WDW when we stayed, but as adults My DH and I do not feel we really need one in WDW. It is a nice addition, but if the price is quite different we prefer to save the bit of money and spend it on something we could do, or eating at nicer resturants. After being in the parks for most of the day we prefer being in the A/C relaxing. But the need for a balcony might change after we have kids. We shall see.

Some of the best moments of my vacation are sitting on the balcony at the resort and watching the World go by. DH loves drinking his coffee and reading the paper in the AM while waiting for the kids to get up, of course now we are waiting until 11AM for them to move. When they were younger it was a great place to go while waiting for them to fall asleep.

Same here Kitty, thanks to that special friend, we've also had upgrades to a room with a balcony. (Thanks special friend!)

Having a balcony really adds to the magic of our trip! In the morning, I like to have my coffee, in the evening, a cold glass of water. It gives me a place to plan our day while taking in the sights, or unwind after a long day of park touring!

From now on...it's got to be a balcony (or patio) for us!

Many guests say that they don't stay in their rooms long and go for a less-expensive room or resort without a balcony. But, we have found that going out on a balcony adds so much to your stay because you conveniently can "get out of the room" for fresh air and comfortable seating throughout your stay, never feeling confined to your room. If Disney realized this, they would rethink balconies because, for us, we go into the parks less when we have a beautiful resort/balcony to enjoy!

Very important! If you've got a good or great view it can really make a trip extra special. One of the best moments in a hotel ever for me was sitting on a balcony above the ocean listening to some soft piano music drift up from the open lobby area and the ocean and the palm trees swaying in the breeze. . . in Hawaii. I fell asleep out there. It was just heaven . . .

Also, it really opens up a room, you don't feel so shut in.

We have small kids and it's great to get them to sleep and then sit on the balcony with DH - ahh, I'm remembering the AKL . . . it's just wonderful :)

Maybe Disney did think of this... if you are spending more time in your room or the balcony, you aren't in the parks or restaurants or shops spending time and money there!

I love having a balcony. I grew up spending my time overlooking the New York City skyline, and maybe that is why. Everytime I am at my mom's place in Puerto Rico I just sit outside and listen to waves as they approach the shore.

I agree that it is important to be able to go out there in the morning to have a cup of coffee, and maybe even a cocktail in the evening.

When I stayed at the Hilton one year I realized they didn't have balconies, and the guy at the desk gave me a suite at poolside, and it was wonderful!

Even now I go out on my patio every morning with my cup of tea.

Disney's views are so lovely(except for the parking lot) I do not know how anyone could not want to absorb the beautiful scenery

I LOVE having a balcony, especially at WDW!! I absolutely relish every minute I can get out there, just sitting and relaxing .. whether it's with coffee in the morning, or a glass of wine at night!
