AMEX & white glove benefits

Hi there. Could somebody please tell me what benefits they've gotten by being an AMEX cardholder. I've heard something about the white glove treatment, but don't know exactly what it is. I don't currently have an AMEX, but I am thinking about getting one for our trip in August. Any comments would be appreciated.

When you check in with your AMEX card, you get a pin and lanyard. There is also a discount coupon book.

At DTD there is 15% off items you purchase with your card.

You get discounts on park tours and (I think, but not sure about this) some shows. The discount on tours is 10 or 15% -- I can't remember. What I do remember is how LIMP my AMEX card was at the end of our vacation!

Now I have to pay it off! OUCH!! :jester:

We just got an AMEX card to pay for our room for our feb. trip. I think its just the lanyard and pin. But really you've got nothing to lose by doing it... In fact on netflip they will pay you $16.00 just to get the AMEX card. (there at least 3 to pick from, we went with the platinum something or another AMEX with no annual fee.)

Back in Feb. I used a special code to receive a significant discount if I booked using my AmEx card....another plus for having an AmEx card. (This offer has expired by now, of course, but there may be future offers.)

If you book your ressies as "White Glove Treatment", you also get a discount at some of the Downtown Disney stores; no discount at any of the theme park merchants. You get a discount at some of the restaurants at DTD, but I don't think there are any in the theme park restaurants or resort restaurants.

All you have to do is present your Amex card at check in, and they'll give you the White Glove booklet (it's pretty thick).

We used the 15% discount (Amex card and Disney Resort Room Key) to pick up a few things at DTD.

Our discount was almost $20.

You get a discount on the late perfomance/dinners at Hoop-Dee-Doo and Polynesian Luau. They lanyard you get has a pin and you can trade it!!

We book our airfare on the Delta Skymiles AmEx and get points.

It has been a while since we stayed at the Dolphin so I can't remember if White Glove Treatment is available at S/D. We are staying there in December this year. Can anyone confirm that it is available?
