We will be cruising for the first time Jul 13. My DD11 will be in the in the same group as yours in the Oceaneers Lab. We're doing 5-star St John excursion. Nothing in St Martin.

Hey, glad to hear from our fellow 7/13 cruisers. All of the kids in our group except one are boys. My friend's daughter Stacey is 12, so pretty close to your 11 year olds!

9 of us are booked on the 5 Star St John excursion also!

In St Maarten, most of my 27 are going to go over to LeGalion Beach on the French side. A co-worker of mine is from St Martin. She told me that it was a great beach for families because it is protected by a reef and the waters are shallow and always calm. There are watersports on the beach, and it's a short walk from Orient for the more adventurous.

Then we will go back over to Front Street and have lunch (and smoothies!) at Everyting's Cool. It's a great little place very close to the ship. They have great casual food, and just about any kind of fruit you want to blend into a smoothie, with or without alcohol. It's ultra casual, you sit on what looks like your neighbor's backyard furniture. But there's usually a band playing and they have a small beach that you can just walk a few steps down to. They even have lockers in case you want to stroll back onto Front Street. Hey, I should ask for a commission, sounds like I am advertising.

We are trying to get T shirts together to all wear at our "shared" cocktail party. If you see people with shirts that say "Look Out Disney Here We Come" on the front and "Cruise Crew 2002" on the back, that will be us. Hopefully we will get them done, my friend is having a little trouble with the graphics!! :0)

14 of us have a reservation at Palo's on Tuesday night.

Hope you all a great trip to Port Canaveral and that we get to see you on the Magic!!

Kat28, your first cruise? How great. I am the "cruise Queen" of my group. And I have been getting my friends hooked one by one. You are gonna love it!!

Lin,
Were you able to get the ressies at Palo early because you have such a big group?

bambilin
06-20-2002, 01:21 PM
StacyA,

You've got it! My TA called me last week to tell me the "Group" person from DCL could accept an advance ressie for us for between 8 and 14 people. It worked out great, because the adults without small kids (or with no kids) came out to exactly 14. We took Tuesday because it is day 4. On days 1,4 and 7 you eat in the same restaurant. We figured that would be a good day. It's St Maarte which works out really well, because now that they have moved up the late seating to 7:45 we don't have to rush. We have a 9 PM at Palo'!

:)

Lin,

Are any of the boys in your group my daughter's age (11ish)?

I'm sure we will love it! We can't wait. :p Gotta get away from the northeast rains to the Carribean sunshine! Hope the weather is gonna be great!

Well, we do have 2 boys who are just about to turn 9, and one who just turned 14. We've also got a 2 yr old and 5 year old boy, and then the girls are 6 and 12. I am sure all the kids (including us big ones!) are going to have a great time!

What airport are you guys flying out of?

OK, so I am geographically challenged!! :0) I saw, NY and didn't pay attention to anything else. We have 20 flying out of JFK together, 3 our of Islip, and 4 driving down to spend 4 days at WDW before the cruise.

My whole crowd finally has their documents. There were some problems with name spellings and such, but everything is finally OK. :p

Well hello there Lisa6210. Glad to hear you are joining us on 7/13.

Lisa, we have Stacey travelling with us. She will be 13 in September. Her mom says she will probably not meet anyone to "hang out" with until Friday night and then be disappointed on Saturday. Maybe we can introduce her to your DD and give them a head start!

Hope to see you all on the ship!:bounce:

Hi Lin, My daughter (Julia) will be 13 on July 5th so she just made the age to go into the teen room. I hope since Stacey will be 13 in September they let her go in there too. I would love for Julia to meet someone on the first night. She is my only child so I am hoping she makes a lot of friends to hang out with. E-mail me and maybe we can set something up. Lisa

Wow! Only 16 more days!! Good to see our group of DISers is growing for this cruise!! Finally told DDs about the cruise and they are soooooooo excited!

kat--Saw you had no plans for St. Martin...we're doing the Butterfly Farm and Orient Beach (family/kid's playground side) on our own that day!

Lisa--DD11 is jealous of teen club, I'm sure Julia will have lots of fun there!

adkaul--my DD6 will be 7 in Aug. They will love the clubs I bet!

Lin--the only thing better than a cruise would be a cruise with such a large group!

Stacey and mickeynut--hope you've looked into the surrial! What a great idea for couples!!

Who would like to meet up on the ship? Time? Place? We can private msg the details or post any ideas here...

Lisa6201,

I think it would be a great idea to have Julia and Stacey meet. Don't know if she'll get into the teen room. I will email you !

Goodstepmom,

Thinks it's a great idea for everyone to meet up. Will have to figure out where and when. Don't know if I can drag the rest of my group with me, but... This is my biggest group so far, we can't wait. Last May I had 17 on the Carnival Sensation. It really is fun with a group!

Oh, and the family part of Orient in St Martin, that's where we will be as well, actually most of my group. Only a few chose an excursion. My friend who is from St Martin said that area is called LeGalion and she highly recommended it. So if we can't arrange a meet on the ship, I am sure we will bump into you there!

OK, and I shouldn't admit this, but I am so computer challenged!! I can't figure out how to add the countdown thingie. Anyone help???

:Pinkbounc

StaceyA
06-27-2002, 08:53 AM
Gina,
We are doing the butterfly excursion as well, so we will see you there for sure!

We would love to meet up at some point, if you make any decisions clue me in!!

We do have plans to try the suriel bath, I will be sending DH to the spa to make reservations while I tackle Palos!!

GoodStepMom
06-27-2002, 02:39 PM
Lin, LeGalion sounds great, we will see you there! I think I read about a kid's playground there with a small entrance fee...

Stacey, DH is doing Palo's while I do surial ressies (opposite of you!) I'm afraid if I send him to the spa he'll get embarrassed asking for it and we'll miss out!!

EVERYONE: Since we'll probably all be on deck for cast off on Saturday, why not meet then? I don't know where, anyone been on the Magic before? I have bubbles for the girls and with a "drink of the day" in hand...oh it's like my own little daydream here--I'm so looking forward to this!!!:Pinkbounc

Gina

StaceyA

Gina,
What a great idea meeting at the sail away party!!

Then we will all already know someone at the start of the cruise!

I have been on the Magic once in 1999 for the 3 day cruise, so unfortunatly I don't know the deck that well....maybe someone else that has been on several cruises could give us a heads up to a place where we can all meet....you know like a bar....LOL

bambilin
06-27-2002, 03:18 PM
Well, as far as meeting at the Sail Away party, we are in a predicament right now. My TA called to tell me Disney moved the group cocktail party up to the same time as the cast off party. They did this because of the dining time change. So, the people in my group have to decide whether to go to the sail away or the group party. Not very fair since that was our "gift" for having a group. We chose that over the champagne or steamer trunk because we were given a time that did not conflict with any other activity and we thought everyone would enjoy it.

MY TA is voicing our complaint, but don't know if we'll get anywhere!

06-27-2002, 04:06 PM
Oh Lin! Too many parties to go to--only on a cruise!!!;)

I'm still open to any and all suggestions!!! Deck 10, 9, other? During sail away Lin's group probably can't make it so before sail away, after late dinner (around 9:30?), Sunday morning?

Ideas?

Hi all!!! I would definetly love to meet everyone too!!! Hubby to be can tag along (I guess..LOL)
I like the after dinner idea..although where??
Ive been on the ship too, but like Stacey it was in 1998 (the 3rd Magic cruise ever) so I dont know a good location..maybe one of the lounges...or hot tub?? Whereever will be great:)

bambilin
06-28-2002, 07:02 AM
Wait!!! Don't change your plans. The "Sail Away Party" will work just fine!!

I canceled my group's shared cocktail party. I did not want anyone to have to choose between being on deck with the characters and music as we sail and being at the cocktail party. Our group would have wound up splitting up. So, we have decided to take the "Steamer Trunk" as our group gift and do away with the cocktail party. We will ALL be at the Sail Away party. :)

I cannot imagine you will have any trouble identifying my group.
We will all be wearing the same T-Shirt. In case there are other groups doing similar things, here's a hint to find us. On the back of the shirts it will say, "Cruise Crew 2002" and all of our names will be on there.

Can't wait!!!!

StaceyA
06-28-2002, 07:57 AM
Lin,
I agree with you, I would have canceled it too as to not make the group have to decide whether to go to the sail away party or not.....because that is such an exciting time!!

I think meeting at the sail away party would be a great idea....just where? Should we look for anyone with the group tee on and just hang around them? LOL

I just checked out the deck plan and as far as I can see Deck 9 is where the sail away party is, maybe we could meet near one of the food stands, on the deck plan I saw they were listed as Pluto's dog stand and Pinocchio's Pizza (I don't know if the names are the same on the magic and the wonder) and then we can walk over to where the party is going on.

I know when I went in 1999 we stood just above the pool where the party was, you could see everything since you weren't stuck in the big crowd.....that was nice and the characters came up there.

bambilin
06-28-2002, 08:47 AM
Funny Stacey! But I guess we would be easy to find. Since we have never been on the ship before, I can't suggest a perfect meeting place. I am sure my group (particularly the ones with kids) will want to be somewhere close to the action and the characters.

I will keep checking to see if we can all come up with something!

:bounce:

StaceyA
06-28-2002, 09:44 AM
Here is a thought, how about a half an hour before the sail away party we meet in one of the lounges?

I was thinking the ESPN skybox, since that is on deck 11 and then we can just go down to deck 9 where the action is.

Also, I believe this is where you would buy the beer mug, so then those that wanted that could get it at that time.

Just a thought, let me know what you all think....

bambilin
06-28-2002, 10:06 AM
I thought you had come up with the perfect plan, and that sounds like a great idea, except the lifeboat drill is 4-4:30, so we will all be there and then have to return our lifejackets prior to the Sail Away party at 4:45. :(

Do any of you have early seating dinner? We have late (7:45) If all of you are on late seating, we can meet up at the ESPN Skybox right after sail-away for a few minutes.

Of course, I imagine it couldn't possibly work out that we are all on late seating now, could it???

We'll figure it out!;)

StaceyA
06-28-2002, 10:11 AM
Yes I noticed that the drill was at 4:00 just about the time you wrote this I think....ohh well, I think we are still going to pop up there just before the deck party to look into the beer mug though....the ship sets sail at 5:00, so we definetly want to be on deck 9 by then though.

Im hoping the boat drill goes quick!

We also have late dining.

GoodStepMom
06-28-2002, 10:18 AM
I'm with kids so after we stow our life vests, we'll be midship deck 9 at the party (right in the middle of the characters would be DD's preference! LOL!!) -- looking for Lin's Cruise Crew 2002 tees!!

I think all us DISers should wear something to stand apart, other than the huge smiles--Mickey ears are a little much, how about flowered leis? Other cruises, DISers have done lime green lanyards...anyone already have something like that?

Who else besides Lin's group party has been affected by the change in dining times? We were on a wait list for early (we booked late) but I called and cancelled--we'll stay with 7:45.

Countdown clocks are reading 14 1/2 days to go!!! Last minute appts are made, some impulse shopping left to do...I better get busy packing and make sure I can fit everything I've picked up on this board in the suitcases!!

I can't imagine how you're holding up mickeynut with wedding AND cruise excitement!!

Gina

StaceyA
06-28-2002, 10:34 AM
DH and I have purple leis that we saved from the luau in WDW last year for our honeymoon.....we could wear those.....well at least I could wear it....I can't speak for him...lol

I am also doing my impulse shopping, went to CVS last night and bought all the little items you just need....like Bonine (sea sickness) and Tums....lol I have never gotten sick on cruises before but just to be safe I picked up the Bonine.

Maybe we could go with my first thought which was meet at Pluto's Dog House or Pinocchio's Pizzaria, which is right there on deck 9....if we all have something on that makes us obvious and we are in the same general area we should be easier to find other then if we were just all spread out on the deck.

GoodStepMom
06-28-2002, 10:47 AM
Sounds great Stacey! I know what you mean--my DH probably wouldn't wear a lei (sober at least) but we'd still be able to spot each other!!

My step daughter gets car sick easily so I bought Dramamine just in case (kids dosing on bottle)! With all the other little stuff it's adding up...highlighters, etc!

So far, we're all late seating (4 more groups to report!)

Pluto's Doghouse sounds good to me.
I have been running back and forth across the street to Rite Aid all week. I keep remembering things right after I get back to my desk!

If I shop for anything else, I will have to fedex my luggage ahead of me. My boyfriend (would that be DBF?) is "such a girl". He will bring every piece of clothing he owns and will have no spare room for me to use in his luggage. I have actually asked one of my friends to take my bag with shoes down for me.

Hmm, I guess if these are my only problems, I am not doing so badly!!!!

We too have a late seatig...My mom already got us the bride and groom ears (w/our names on them) so MAYBE if I can get DF to wear his, that's the way to spot us:)

Things are definetly busy here. Hopefully DF will get suitcases from attic today..last minute wedding details AND on top of all that my sister will be giving birth either tomorrow or the next day!!!!!!! Im really hoping tomorrow (although they are inducing her tomorrow) cause its my BIRTHDAY!!!! And my new niece will also be my god daughter!!!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
Lots of excitement here :D
We will be getting a beer mug, so ESPN is cool or whereever you guys decide, we'll be there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK we'll definitely be able to spot Lin's "Crew" and the Honeymooners!!

Happy Birthday Tiffani and congrats on becoming an aunt/god mother! REALLY busy time for you!!

I know what you mean about remembering things when you get back from the store Lin, I'm heading out AGAIN on cruise business--watch batteries this time, somehow, they all went about the same time! Twilight zone weird! I'll look for a lei like Stacey's while I'm out ... sorry that last sentence doesn't read very well!!

All late seating...3 more groups to report!

Gina

bambilin
06-28-2002, 12:17 PM
Thanks Gina, I forgot about batteries! I don't think we need them for watches, but we had better check the AudioVox Radios. Most of the group will be bringing them. Don't know how well they will work considering half the ship will probably also have them.

It would work out pretty well if the other 3 are on leate seating also.

As soon as my friend prints out the final draft for the t-shirts I will let you know what's on the front so you all don't have to go around looking at people's backsides!!!! We have a few ideas, she has to see what fits best.

OK, back to Rite Aid on break I guess. And I think maybe I can pick up some more hair scrunchies in Chinatown when I go to the bank.............................................. ................

Speaking of batteries, you might want to get extras for your camera...I remember going to a wedding and my camera died...no one wants that to happen on vacation!!

bambilin
06-28-2002, 02:17 PM
OK, I am getting really really stressed. I will try not to make too many typos!:(

My TA just called me. Remember I said we switched from the cocktail party to the steamer trunk because of the time conflict? Now DCL has decided that as of 7/13 the Steamer Trunk is no longer available. We have a choice of Asti & stawberries/candy, a good bottle of champagne, or a nice bottle of wine. There are a number of people in my group who do not drink (OK so me and Derrick are not in that number!!!) and who have kids. They really wouldn't want the alcohol. My TA says they will substitute a non-alcoholic drink, BUT only if all 10 of my cabins want the non-alcoholic choice. That's really not very fair is it???

MY TA has called and asked for a callback from a supervisor in the group dept , keep your fingers crossed for me.

I realize this will not ruin anyone's cruise, but since I made all the arrangements, I just want everybody to be happy!

Thanks for listening!

PS Why did they pick 7/13 to start all of their changes?????????? :smooth:

StaceyA
06-28-2002, 02:35 PM
Lin,
Not to mention you had to pay extra per person right?
I thought I read $29.00 PP extra for the group things....

I know why did they pick July 13?? They decide to pick that date to try out the new dinner times.....they don't give you guys the trunk.....what pains....hey why couldn't they pick our cruise as the one to start including soda with the price of the cruise!!!???

bambilin
06-28-2002, 02:43 PM
No, we didn't pay the $29 extra. You see although we booked more than a year in advance, DCL said that they had already reached their capacity for the group discount (8 cabins, 15 passengers, the 16th goes free) so instead they gave us $50 off per cabin (oh boy!! ) and a choice of a group party, a bottle of champagne, or a steamer trunk. You know the rest of the story from there.

What's also weird is I called and ordered gifts for 2 people in my group because their birthdays fall during the cruise. I got a call that they changed vendors and no longer have one of the items.

What's goin on???

I know quite a few people who would agree with you on that, "Why not free soda beginning with our cruise?" question!!!

I will not have access to email again till Monday. Have a great weekend everyone!

bambilin
06-30-2002, 06:27 PM
My TA is the MAN!!!! He got on the phone with a DCL supervisor and plead our case.

Guess what? We are now having our own cocktail party on Friday night in the ESPN Skybox before dinner!!!! I couldn't believe it when he called me!

Looks like someone did sprinkle a little pixie dust for us after all!!!

Thanks, I am sure relieved it all worked out also. Actually, I think it worked out better than originally planned.

I am not sure if anything offical has been agreed to for meeting. But we will all be at the Sail Away Party, and then will go up to the ESPN Skybox for a bit after Sail Away ends. I would be happy to go elsewhere though if that's what everyone else decides.

Lin,
Im so glad you were able to get your party moved! Your TA is the greatests!!

We are still waiting for 3 more groups to check in about meeting up and dinner times right?
Maybe someone could Private Message them and see if they are interested in the meet?

Tiffani,
Once DH and I got to WDW with our hats, I wore mine and he didn't want to wear his, well he got razed so many times for not wearing his that whenever I was wearing mine he wore his...LOL

Tell him that if I see you and he doesn't have it on I will pick on him....and we will also get the cruise crew 2002 to pick on him....that is 29 people right there!!! LOL

I carried his hat on in a bag with magazines and other things we were gonna need on the plane, I packed mine since it folds....
We were able to carry the bag on with no problem as long as they looked through it, even though we already had our one carry on each (we flew 9/17 so they were making sure to check out everything!!)

I can't believe how close it is now!!!

GoodStepMom
07-02-2002, 08:27 AM
I can't believe how close it FINALLY is!! I have all my family coming on the 4th, but as soon as they leave, I'm getting out the suitcases and starting to pack!!

Stacey, I tried to buy the leis the Disney store employees wear but they don't sell them...still looking! I'll try the party store...

After reading the "To Dis or not to Dis" thread I guess I could understand someone's hesitation about meeting, but I hope Lisa, Kat, and adkaul still come by to say hi at the sailaway party (they seem to have disappeared since about the 2nd page of this thread)!! Here's what we have so far:

Stacey and DH are wearing purple leis

Tiffani and new DH are wearing Mickey and Minnie Bridal Ears

Lin is wearing a Cruise Crew 2002 tshirt (how will we tell you apart from your group? That is, short of asking 28 other people!)

(I'm still looking for leis)

We'll all be at the sailaway party!

Have a happy 4th of July everyone!! Tiffani, congrats again on becoming an aunt and I hope all your preparations are going smoothly--it'll be a beautiful wedding!!

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I haven't posted since the second page. I have been talkng to Lin through E-mail and we will deinitely be at the sail away party looking for all of you. We don't have anything specific to wear but from what I can tell we won't have any problems finding all of you. I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone. This site has been amazing, I am on here every morning just reading everyones posts. I am going to miss this morning ritual after the cruise is over. Have a Great JULY 4TH. Lisa

Hey gang!
It is really getting close now!!
'
Did we decide on a final place to meet, or were we just going to look for the tees, hats and leis?

For myself and DH, we will hit the ESPN bar right after the boat drill for the beer mugs and then head to the sail away party.

I thought we had talked about Pluto's Dog House, but I wasn't sure if we had decided for sure yet.....

See ya real soon!!!

Hello all!

Goodstepmom,
OK, we will all be wearing the same shirt. The front says: Look Out Disney Here We Come and the back has the "Cruise Crew 2002
July 13-20" with all of our names and a little character picture. As far as picking me out from the group, I have red hair and freckles, and my boyfriend Derrick is from Guyana, he has very dark skin. Since I am sure we will be together for the sail away (and most times on the ship) it should be relatively easy to find me!! :0) Of course, if all else fails, just ask anyone wearing that shirt and they could point me out in a flash!

Since I haven't been on the ship, I don't know if my crowd will all fit by Pluto's Doghouse but I guess we can try!

I don't know how I am going to get ready in time, I have duty at the volunteer ambulance corps tonight, a meeting tomorrow, a doctor's appointment Wednesday. Guess I will be doing everything Thursday night and Friday. Somehow I believe I will manage!!!

Hi Everyone

I'm still around - just haven't had the chance to write. We'll be looking for everybody at the sail away party. Don't have anything special to wear but I think we'll be able to spot the leis, etc.

Hey there! Start Packing Everyone!! I just have to share this. My TA called DCL to see how we can arrange for a photgrapher to take a group photo at our cocktail party and to find out how we can get a character to pose. He was told the photgrapher would come for an $85 fee, and we could have as many characters as we want, for $550 each!!!!

So, which one of you wants to put on a costume and which one wants to hold my camera and snap the pictures for me???

Of course, we can get a group photo taken during regular photo times at no additional charge so that's what we will do. And of course there will be plenty of character posing opportunities. I just figured we could get the photo over with when we were all together anyway and all (most I imagine) buy the copy.

Oh well!!!!

Thank goodness tomorrow is my last day at work before we go. Friday is for hair, hands, feet, you know, all those girlie things.
I am about 75% packed, I am so proud of myself, I am never prepared this early.

See you all soon!:bounce:

It's almost time!!! I am off from work tomorrow thank goodness! I probably won't have a chance to check my email at home.

So, in case I do not "hear" from any of you on the board today, I wish everyone a safe and pleasant trip down to Florida, and look forward to seeing you all Saturday!!!!!:bounce:

Hey Lin! Enjoy packing!!

BTW, DH has a Dopey costume (complete with ears) left over from a couple halloweens ago and I have my witch costume (the typical Evil StepMom one). We'll take pix with you for that kind of money!!!

See everyone on Saturday!!

Hello all!!

Just wanted to say to Lin, Gina and Tiffany it was so fun meeting

My DH was so happy with the cruise that he was the one that mentioned booking another one, we wanted to book on board and get the stateroom credit, but with work it is tough to make a decision like that spur of the moment.....ohh well!

Hope you all had a nice flight home!

Tiffany....It was so much fun sharing the table with you and Mike, we had a blast!! I miss Sasha already!!! and his "For the Family" comment every time he brought out an extra dish of food for us to share..... Boo Hoo!! :( :(

Hey Stacey,

Our flight home was great except nobody really wanted to go home!!!

I never did get to met up with Lisa. Gina said she was trying to get my attention but didn't succeed up on deck, I feel bad.

It was great that you guys got to sit with Tiffany and her hubby.

It was nice meting all of you. Good luck with your next booking.

I am sailing on the Norwegian Star in November with just Derrick this time, we are doing the Hawaiian Islands. I have nerve, 2 cruises in 4 months. Guess Derrick has to keep working that overtime!!! :0)

We are thinking about another group cruise in August 2003, we may try the new one that leaves out of NY and does the Bahamas and Florida then back to NY. Not sure yet!

We definitely had a blast on the Magic!

Lin;)
