hi folks

we decided to book with RS transport as a few of you had used them and also they provide car seats.

When filling in the reservation form, it said on one page the ages for the different car seats were 0-2 and 2-11 and on another page it was under 3 for infants.

My DD is almost 3 (3 at end of next month) but is a slender wee thing. Not sure what kind of car seat i'll end up getting? Does anyone have any experience of getting car seats with RS and what they were like?

FYI - I selected the under 3 option on the booking page.

Thanks
Susan x

to be honest ash only ever had a booster type thing. she is 2, the seatbelt just went through it and around ash. you could email them to ask what they offer, they are very quick for replying.

They are good but tbh both my girls had incorrect seats for their journey. DD1 was 3.5 yrs and was in just a bottom booster thingy which sounds like what Ash had - she technically wasn't old/heavy enough for just that without a back on etc but she is a fairly tall girl so I tried not to worry!

DD2 (more worryingly) was 5 months and in a forward facing carseat (the type you'd use from 9 month plus in the UK and only then if they are well above the weight limit of a backwards facing seat). She again is a big girl so it wasn't so much of an issue but could have been if she was a tiny little baby....

Having said that, I'm not surely legally what is required in France so although it may have been incorrect here, who knows :confused3

I'm hoping you may end up with the type my DD2 had as it sounds like you DD needs it. I would perhaps email them and explain that she is v petite for her age so will need a carseat and not just a 'bottom booster cushion'.

HTH

PS - we reconfirmed our return pickup and asked the concierge to ensure the seats were there too (on the morning of pick up) as I'd read a few people here say they'd forgotten the carseat when they turned up!! :scared1:

When we used them last year they forgot the car seat on the way to DLP and we had to wait about 10 mins for someone to bring one and it was just a booster seat which was fine as my DD was 4 (although at home she has the one that has the back which the seat belt threads through).

If I were you I would e-mail them and check which ones they have, but as PJackson says I'm not sure what the law is in France.

yes i had the option of two last time i asked for the car seat instead of the booster but to be honest they were both boosters. one was just like a cushion and one had a back to it but i still wouldnt have called it a car seat lol. but ash was strapped in fine and tight and i was happy enough

Not so much of an issue if they don't have the carseat at the airport as, as you say, I think they are based fairly near and can get one out to you asap. But, if it's your return pick up - you are up against time for a flight and it's either go without and chance it or possibly miss your flight!!

We didn't want to risk it so just rechecked on the morning of our return journey. We explained to the Concierge (DLH) and he was happy to ring for us. They probably thought we were pains in the proverbial but I didn't care :lmao:
