Welcome to the boards!:D
We were just at CBR....June 6 - 13. Enjoyed it ! The food at the food court we thought was below standard though.
the rooms looked great since they refurbished them.
One question.....are they planning to do anything about the "bird" problem??? We just felt those birds were just way out of control!!!! My DH was practically attacked by one of the crows. Another guest walking by had to swing at the crow to get it to fly away because it dove for my DH twice! Then DD had to duck and run a couple of times to get away from them. It really was kinda scary!!
Other than the birds and we really had a great time!! :D

Hi Andy, I'll be staying at your resort this summer, and I'm trying to find out which bldgs are non-smoking. I've read conflicting reports. Welcome to the boards.
:D :bounce:
No questions about CBR, but welcome to DIS! I was just at CBR for the last 3 nights of our trip and loved the resort!
How do you like working for Disney? Is it a really great place to work? That is my dream to retire to my home in FL year round and work for Disney part time to get the CM benefits and be in my favorite place in the world! Unfortunately that is many years away. :(

Hi there! Welcome to the boards! Thanks for your offer to answer questions.
Which building would you want to stay in at CBR and why? We stayed there a few years back and ended up in a far away building so we never felt the sense of "home" that we feel at POR. We're thinking of giving it a second chance, however. This time we'd like to do it right. We did enjoy the pool.
What are the "little things" about CBR that the average vacationer might not know to look for but would enhance their appreciation of CBR if they were pointed out to them?

Well, hello there Carribean Andy! My new dh and I will be checking-in on July 1st-7th for our honeymoon! We would love to meet you- does your nametag say Andy? How nice of you to offer assistance to the DIS family! I hope you'll feel welcome! Here's a question for you...what is the most romantic thing to do at CBR? I've heard about hammocks on the beach! That sounds relaxing!!! Thanks again, and hope to meet you soon! Thanks, Renessa

Hi and Welcome!
Who's the best person to speak to that will do something about those nasty birds diving at folks? I'm guessing that one of the reasons for this problem is people at the parks and resorts who are feeding them.

Yes...I hATE the birds too! They attacked me when I was cleaning tables one day! I told a manager and they got a hold of animal control...they're supposed to get rid of the birds!
The best places in the CBR? Definately Parrot Cay! It's a little island in the middle of the Lake Connecting the two halfs of the resort together...very peaceful. And yes...those hamicks on the beach are the best..sometimes on my day off I relax in them almost all day!
I'm sorry about the birds...i'll have to keep bugging animal control..to get rid of them.
Another cool place is Banana Cabana...a real nice outdoor bar with tropical drinks and relaxing tropical music! This resort is all about lazy days in the sun!

The best place to stay in CBR is Matrinique! This is the area closest to Old Port Royale...(The Main Pool, Food Court, Gift Shops, and the Banana Cabana!) Definatly try to get a room here! If not, none of the areas are really that far to walk...also there is a bus stop in EVERY area that can take you to any Park or Downtown Disney..there is also an internal bus that will simply go around all the Caribbean areas and go to Old Port Royale!

So nice to see you here on the boards. Hope you enjoy it!
I have one question. We recently had a wonderful stay at the CBR and I've wanted to write a letter telling the management there about our stay and who made it magical. Would you be able to give me the resort manager's name? And address I suppose :). Thanks very much.
Enjoy yourself here and thanks.

Hi Andy, welcome to the boards! DH and I will be staying at CBR in early November. We have reserved a king room (we were more than happy to pay to make sure that we got a king), and we were wondering if all the king rooms are corner rooms? Do you know? Also, DH and I are fairly laid back people (we love things liek Jimmy Buffett and pina coladas), tell me more about this bar at the pool...

Welcome to the DIS Caribbean Andy!
DH and I will be checking in on 29 August, so I hope to see you around! We will be celebrating my birthday (31 August) and our wedding anniversary (02 September) while we are there.
Do you know if the CBR busses go directly to the park/destination that is picking up for, or if it stops at other resorts on the way? We are trying to gauge how long it will take to reach the parks from CBR so we can be prepared.
Thanks so much for volunteering yourself.... what a Godsend!

We will be checking into the CBR in late July and I had already requested Martinique. But, we are driving in from NJ and we may not get to CBR until around noon. I know that the CM's try tro accomodate everyone's requests, but, it usually is "first come first serve", and by noon all the "premium" locations may be taken. So, what do you suggest as a 2nd choice? (I also put in a request for connecting rooms, since 2 of my sons will be sharing a separate room)....

Welcome Andy----We have never stayed at the CBR but from what I read on these boards you work at one of the most beautiful resorts on WDW property. As someone wrote before it will be great to have first hand knowledge about the resort.

Welcome Caribben Andy, Stayed at your place Dec 9-15 2001 and my kids give you thumbs up .. i do have a question - is your resort going to do the scan thing with the Mugs ? Thanks Michelle
Hey mahn,
I want to ask if all of the re-furb is done, and if not, what Buildings in Martinique would you recommend that have been re-furbed?
Also, as we are planning our visit August 25 - August 31, (taking advantage of some of the discounts), I'd like to know what to expect for crowd size?
Usually we go during mid to late September, but since school is getting more critical now at DS age, we thought we should go before school starts. September crowds, at least what "crowds" were there were extremely manageable. I'm just wondering should I expect the resorts to be full, Park lines to be long, I just want to be prepared mentally for the worst.
Thanks, and welcome to the Boards.

I have the same question as Wags, but am writing so I automatically get an email when there is a response!;)
Has Martinique been completely refurbished, and which buildings in Martinique are best?
We have four families staying together - what are our chances of all being in Martinique? Last time we stayed at Caribbean Beach we were lucky to all be in Martinique, but that was three years ago....

DisneyaHolic23, I posted on another thread about my experience at check-in trying to get a requested section, We just got back on Monday. We were at CBR June 6 - 13. Not sure if you may have read it, so I will explain here:
We requested Martinique right from the start when we made ressies last Oct. and also called a few days before.
We arrived at 7pm. No wait. But then he said we would be in Trinadad SOUTH!!! I calmly and politely asked if there was anything else (at that point did not say anything about Martinique). He said NOTHING! Again I asked, this time explaining that we had requested Martinique, but would be happy with Trin. North or anything closer to the food court since we were staying for 7 nights. AGAIN, he said NOTHING! Then he went into this long explanation that a "request" is never guarenteed. I calmly told him I understood that. And that I am not insisting on Martinique, but just want something, ANYTHING other than Trinidad SOUTH! He continued to try and convince me that it was a nice area, etc.... I asked if I had to cross a busy road to reach the food court since I had my DD who is 11 with me ( I know the answer was yes, but wanted to hear him say it). His answer was "Oh well, you don't have to walk. You take the BUS!" At that point I simply stated we would not be taking a BUS to the food court or main pool and if he could posibly look for a room for us at another RESORT! He then told us to wait. He went in the back and 5 minutes later came out and said he had a room in Martinique 26! Couldn't get any closer to the food court or pool!!:D While I was thanking him and telling him how grateful we were......he casually mentioned they only had a few rooms "here and there" available...as he was pointing to Barbados, Jamaica and Aruba!!! Soooooo, if there were rooms available in those buidings....why put us through that whole mess and try to put us in South!! I was a little irritated with that!!
But it worked out well. The rooms were nice. All the refurbishments are complete. There was a HUGE improvement from when we were there in Oct '99!!!:D
But I wish you luck in trying to get all your rooms in the same area! Maybe it will work ouT! But before you go.....think about if it is more important to have all 4 families in the same area or if being closer to the food court and main pool is more important. You may end up some of you in Martinique and Barbados for example, but depending on the building...you could be very close to each other. OR..... I am sure they would have room for all of you in the same building over in Trinidad SOUTH! Which is way out there!!! GOOD LUCK!

Hi we will be checking into CBR July 28th. I have requested TN bldg. #31. We should get there around 11am. Is this a building that fills up quickly? Requested 2nd floor connecting rooms.
Thanks!
July just won't come quick enough.

What is the first bus stop and the last?
Also when should I fax a room request (how many days) before
my visit and who should I address it to so that it reaches the
correct person for room assignments?
Thanks.

Well, we scared Carribean Andy Away huh? Well here's a few answers I know, hope it helps:
Smoking Buildings: Martinique 21, Trin North 31 & Aruba 51
Bus Stops: Jamaica has been first stop coming and going every time I have been to CBR except 1 time (only one ride coming back)
I usually go the first week of Value season in August through the first week in Sept
Early arrival at checkin gets you your building requests, we usually arrive at noon and never have gotten our request of Martinique or Trin North, last year we got Jamaica and really enjoyed it, so this year it is our request, we'll see if we get it. We faxed room requests 3 days before trip, but it didn't matter. Now I only request when I make ressie and skip the fax.
I like the second floor rooms best, last year we had a King and it was a great room, lots of space. We also ended up with a water view, but honestly, it isn't a necessity, you really only see the water well if u are out on the balcony....save your $
Refurbs are finished, I was told that by a CM at the resort. Our room last summer was beautiful....like brand new
I will be happy to answer any questions I have missed or any new ones u may ask....I promise I won't run away! ;)

Whoa there CTPacky. All I did was point out that Andy hasn't posted in a week. As far as who do I answer, well, if I know the answer to a question and it hasn't already been answered, I'll answer it. And I have many times. You asked "who do you p*ss off"? You, I guess. Sorry.
