Hi
I've been reading these boards for a few months now and have picked up some great tips for our next trip to DLRP in August, thank you so much. This will be our second trip and I wish I'd found these boards before we went the first time - we live and learn :)
We will be staying at the Cheyenne and I was thinking of getting Half Board standard vouchers for us, DH, DD (15) and DS (7). My hubby is less keen as he wants to eat off the main menu in most places rather than a set menu. However my "argument" is we are planning to eat at, Plaza Gardens, Cheyenne buffet, Rendezvous des Stars, and all of those (I think) would be covered by vouchers. The remainder I thought we could use at face value.
So what I would really like to know is does anyone know how much the half boards standard vouchers are worth at face value in Euros. I think that the exchange rate would make them worthwhile, but maybe I'm wrong.
Anyway thank you for reading and would really appreciate any opinions

Hi :wave2:
Welcome to the forum!
You'll find that all of the three places you have listed are actually buffet restuarants (to the best of my knowledge) and the HB vouchers would work out very well for you with them being buffets.

Thank you, definately glad I found these boards
I think for the buffet restaurants it would work out well for us.
Bit of a dim moment sorry. forgot to mention we are staying 7 nights so the remainder of our meals probably won't be buffet stylee, so trying to work out whether at face value the vouchers would be better for us with the exchange rate as it is

I don't know how much the half board standard vouchers are at face value, but I'd guess, for August, that unless the exchange rate improves by quite a bit by then, you'd still be better getting the half board vouchers in advance. If you're not too sure, you could always wait until much nearer your trip to add your vouchers to your booking - they only need a few days to organise this for you.

I thought that when I re-read your post ;)
I 'believe' that they have a face value of 25 euro's. You can obviously use them off of the a la carte menu.
They do currently save about 15% off the cost of buying meals at DLRP. One of the main +'s of the HB vouchers is that you know that at least you breakfast and 1 other meal a day is paid for so you can budget better.
You might want to try looking here (http://www.********************/dlp/dining/index.html) with your hubby as you can view the set menu's for different restuarants and that may help to sway him a little!

Thanks for the link to the menus. My daughter and I are menu "addicts" and we've been looking at them already, choosing what we'd like to eat two months before we go :rotfl:
If the face value is 25 euros that would work really well in our favour even if ordering off the main menu. I did try and phone Disney to ask the value but unfortunately the chap I spoke to was pretty unhelpful.
I think it's going to be the way to go, am I right that you can add them to your booking up to two days before you go?
Thanks again for the advice

I don't think standard half board vouchers have a face value of as much as 25 euros, isn't that the face value of the half board plus vouchers instead?

I'm sure that's the price I heard mentioned but I've only used them in Buffets and the Set Menu's (25 euros worth of food in Annettes for £16 is damn good value in my eyes)
You can add them up to a few days before your trip. I'd suggest no less than a week though...better to be safe than sorry :goodvibes

Pretty much what others had said
If picking from the menu is an issue I suggest pitching it as the fact you have already paid for a certain amount of your meals but propose having some extra euros on the side in case you both feel inclined to venture off the set menu. That way you have the option of HB to get your meals and the money to do a bit extra

Thanks for all your replies, really appreciate it. I think it's the way to go. Going to sit down and work out how much money we could save, that'll convince him.
Now to try and persuade OH that we need another trip October half term - he could always stay at home and look after the dog :rolleyes1
