View Full Version : I added-on at BLT (again): Contract #23

DVC Mike
06-09-2009, 04:56 PM
I added-on another 125 points at BLT today, giving me 425 points at BLT and 1,250 points overall.

This is my 22nd add-on to my original, giving me 23 contracts. At least they're all the same UY.

After seeing the recent pictures of BLT in the media (especially those fantastic views), my opinion that BLT will become my favorite resort was solidified.

Once I get the paperwork, I won't return it until after the new incentives are announced. If the new incentives are better for me, I'll simply tear it up and have it re-written; otherwise, I'll sign it and send it back.

My guide repeated what I've heard on other boards: that BLT is selling faster than expected, and faster than BCV did.

Now, I was already sold and she had no reason to tell me this to get me to buy, so perhaps there is a tad bit of truth to this? Or maybe that's what the management is telling their sales force. She mentioned that BLT might sell out in a month or so.

Contratulations, Mike. I almost wish all my points were at BLT but alas, it wasn't available at the time and we bought what we could get (not knowing a lot of things we know now). We're happy though and I'm happy for you and your wife. We're all gonna love BLT. I just know it.

You know, I've stood people down relentlessly here on the boards that there was no way BLT was going to sell out by year's end and probably not before mid 2010 at worst. In this economy, I'm surprised to see yet another confirmation that I may have been not just wrong but actually quite wrong.

If BLT indeed sells out inside a month or two, it's going to be interesting to see what happens on the resale market; especially if DVC doesn't announce another new monorail resort somewhat immediately. If it sells out that quickly, we may see the first time in history where resale goes above the price Disney is asking for existing properties at the same time. I assume this has never happened before?

Certainly, OKW is an example of a property that demands more dollars/point today than it sold for originally (obviously, inflation and the delta in the value of the dollar forsaken) but I don't know of any property that has sold for more per point than Disney was asking for currently available properties. Could this happen? It certainly isn't beyond the rhealm of possibilities and it appears that it could happen even before the property officially opens for business. Wow!

I know it's unlikely but I wanted to be able to proclaim the first to mention the possibility/likelihood in case it ever does. :)

WOW!!!! very impressive.

so how many in total BLT points do you have?

BCV sold for more in the resale market than DVC even though it was worth.

which is why SSR, AKV and BLT are priced higher.

gonna stay there in Sept!!!

Ok Wilson using this logic is it safe to speculate on another DVC based solely on the Monorail? I know for a couple years we all have debated Poly/GF DVC and OBVIOUSLY this is what owners are wanting. It just seems like such an easy decision but then again its not my millions making the plans....Shawnpirate:

Congrats DVCMike!!! It seems as if you and I have been neck in neck on total point balances but now you have pulled ahead. I have only 1,200 at this point and have promised the DH no more add ons until Hawaii.

I have to admit I have the BLT bug real bad but trying my hardest to keep the promise to the Mr.

The very best to you and yours on having many more fantastic vacations with the additional points added to your account....:cheer2:

Wow, I thought 8 contracts were confusing!

I do have a question for you Mike. Did you buy all of your points through Disney or did you do some resale? We've got addonitis bad, but trying to justify the cost through Disney. As much as we love our guide, buying a higher number of points at a lower cost sounds awfully nice!

Congratulations on your massive collection of DVC points - and your recent BLT add-on. You are an inspiration to us all - well, to those of us with addonitis.

My guide repeated what I've heard on other boards: that BLT is selling faster than expected, and faster than BCV did. Our guide told us the same thing after we bought into BLT in May (that it might sell out in 2 months or so). We had already signed away on our contract when she said this. I have good reason to trust her. She's never lied to us and her estimates on resorts selling out have been pretty good. BLT sales were far more agressive than they'd expected - while VGC sales were the complete opposite.

Anyone who thinks that BLT inventory will be around until next year will be surprised when it sells out by this fall (or earlier).

Congratulations!

My DH calculated that you can spend about 150 days/year at Disney in a studio low season with your points.

So how do you typically use your points? Do you splurge on 1 bedrooms and great views? I would!

We've accumulated 450 points in 3 years and already talk about adding on at VGC and/or Hawaii. It's not sounding too crazy to that we'll be in that 1000pt club someday.

Even though there's just the two of us, we'll always book a 1-BR instead of a Studio. DW told me we must always book Boardwalk view at BWV and MK view at BLT.

We take 4 trips per year - each trip a minimum of 8 nights.

Actually, Yes.

With six resorts and just 4 weeks a year vacation, I'm always banking all the points for two resorts every year.

Congrats Mike!:thumbsup2 I only have 525 points (but I always seem to be in borrowed out state - so maybe I need more). It's funny, but BLT is the one DVC resort that I don't really want to stay at. One of the nice things about DVC is the variety of options that members have. Something for everyone.:goodvibes

Hey Mike with the webcast incetives you better rip that contract up and buy 500 more, face it you will get there eventually anyway. Plus at $89 a pt it will probably be cheaper than anything else you will see for BLT even resale!

Glad to see our TARP money is going to good use. I'm assuming you are a bank executive, DVCMike. Who else has that much money and free time?

Sorry to sound so bitter. Recently lost my job and will likely have to sell my DVC. And a lot of other stuff.

I have to agree... kinda out of line. It's not DVCMike's fault that you lost your job. He is excited over his purchase; let him have his moment.

Also, your comment is off-base. I get 4 weeks' vacation per year and I'm not a bank executive. I'm a lawyer. I'm jealous of Mike because he gets to use his 4 weeks' vacation every year (I generally get to use about 3 weeks of mine)... but I don't begrudge him his vacations. This is a Disney website... where people are allowed to be excited about all things Disney.

:woohoo:We just did our 4th add on yesterday at BLT. We bought our first contract at 160 so we could get our name on the Tempo Fountain. Then we did an add on to get the cruise. Then the next incentive was the points down to $96 a point. We went to the DVC show in Boston yesterday and did an additional 250 points. The incentives were so unbelievable I couldn't walk away from it. I really wanted to do an add on at BCV but they wanted $104 a point.
