How is everyone :)

Worried and angry.

To cut a long story short i have a greengage tree that now has hundreds of wasps eating the fruit and i have been told there is nothing i can do but let nature take its course.

Tonight my Daughter worried about the wasps and our cats ( they have actaully been giving the tree a very wide berth) whilst i was out went out and sprayed wilkinsons insect repellent all over the tree some of which has of course gone all over the patio where the cats walk.

Luckily for her she did not get stung and thankfully there was not much left in the bottle.

I have just spent ages outside hosing the whole patio down and scrubbing it. I think insect repellent can be quite harmful to cats so now we are worried sick.

Bloody kids :headache:

Talking of bugs... I got a nasty virus (antivir solution pro) that makes your PC think that all programmes are infected, so you need to scan your PC.
Took me 7 hours but I think PC is now clean. Hoping that my email account and data were not hacked.

Oh Poppie no wonder you are worried sick - are your cats okay this morning? I hope its all fine, and the insect repellant doesn't harm your animals .

Aww thanks, i think they are ok. My girl cat was very offish this morning, she wouldn't eat and had some gunk coming out of her eyes. :guilty:

Cleaned them up with boiled water and left her food next to her whilst i went to work. I honestly thought i was going to have to take her to the vet when i got home but she seems fine now and has eaten all her food. I went and got her some whiskas temptations (her fav) and she gobbled some of them down so i think she is ok.
Will just have to keep an eye on her and see how she goes. If i am worried then i will just take her straight to the vet.

I braved the wasp infested tree at 5am this morning (no wasps around then)and cut all the branches my daughter had sprayed with insect repellent down and then hosed the patio down for the 4th time. I can't smell any trace of it now so i am hoping they will be ok.

Honestly having animals is a nightmare, i worry myself sick about them.

Ooh, your poor cat, what a worry. I'm sure you've got rid of that spray from the patio now, it's probably it just being in the atmosphere that has upset her eyes. It's a good sign that she's eaten her temptations. Is your other cat OK?
Honestly having animals is a nightmare, i worry myself sick about them.

I agree, they are a million times more worrying than children! :rotfl2:

My eldest dog has been taking longer to eat her food lately and I was a bit worried about her teeth playing her up as a couple are very loose so took her to the vet last night and she is going in on Monday to have her teeth and mouth tidied up. We are going away in a couple of weeks so I was thinking do I wait until after we are back or have it done now. We decided to have it done before our holiday in the end as the vet said she is very healthy for her age (11) so *fingers crossed* should be fine with the anesthetic and, although the kennels are brilliant and would get her looked at if need be, I would rather her treatment was done by our vet.

I know I'll be on tenterhooks all day Monday now until she's back home. :guilty:

Evening all,:)

Just back from the vet, my cat got worse and i didn't want to take any chances.
Turns out she has a respiratory infection bless her, her eyes are full or green gunk and her nose is running.
I showed the vet the insect repellent bottle and asked if that could have caused it to which he replied no. It just coincedence that she was ill today.

She has had an antibiotic injection that last 2 weeks and an anti inflammatory injection to bring her temperature of nearly 40 down. :scared1:

If she is no better by Sunday i have to take her back.

Sods law, she has now come home, has eaten and is now sitting there cleaning herself.

Most virus are windows/ie specific because it is more prevelant. I fancy a mac myself but do not think they are competely immune.

I've got several macs now as I much prefer them after buying my first a couple of years ago. While they're not completely immune from viruses, there is currently only a very small number of them around and most of these require social engineering to pick up (e.g. by downloading something that claims to be a big expensive program but also includes a virus). There aren't many of the sort that copy themselves round and infect you like that.

Personally for me, theme parks owned by Merlin Entertainments (Thrope, Alton, Lego etc) are all too expensive. They all have a Fastpass type system which is extortionate. Just look at the article - ridiculous!

We went to Legoland yesterday and only a few rides had long wait times, I think about 3 so we managed to get them all done (bar these 3) in 6 hours. TBH there wasnt many thrill rides and the park was made to feel bigger than it was due to it being so spread out. Altho since going to Disney no park over here has been good enough :lmao:

My cats are fine thank you, had a bit of a scare with the girl one (the one i said didn't seem herself) ended up at the vets with her as she seemed to go downhill rather rapdily.
The vet said that she had a URI and gave her an antibiotic and an anti inflammatory. I still wonder whether it was something to do with the insect repellent though despite what he said as the recovery was amazing, within a couple of hours all the green gunk had disappeared from her eyes and she was back to her normal self :confused3 Very strange!

She's just heard that she's ben offered a place!! We will be celebrating tonight!! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

What is everyone up to today? I feel absolutely shattered, i have been up for work the past 2 mornings at 4.50 :scared1: I should have gone to bed early last night but instead i sat up and watched Marple.

Thanks guys  - you won't believe what's happened today...

Mum went in this morning and the nurses had got Nana washed & dressed in her own nightie and sat her up in bed (she was even wearing her glasses!) but she still couldn't speak or respond.

By the time my brother went to visit this afternoon she was drinking by herself from a cup.

When Mum called later she had taken the menu off my Aunt and ordered her own meal! She has a major assessment tomorrow with all the specialists which should give us a better idea of what to expect next but I still can't bellieve it. I don't want to get my hopes up too much but my Nana sure is a fighter! :thumbsup2 Will keep you updated.

Quick question for those who have booked direct with DLP.

Can anyone see their booking on the My Disneyland on the dlp website?

I have tried the last couple of days but get the following message
Due to technical reasons, your request cannot be handled Please try later or contact the Disneyland Paris call centre for assistance.

I wondered if it was just me or if everyone is having the same problem. :confused3

Here is the blurb from the Center MK website

Mickey and Minnie Mouse will officially open the store at 11am on Saturday 25th September during the Grand Opening Celebration. They will be joined by Paige O'Hara, best known as the voice of Princess Belle in the Oscar winning animated classic, Beauty and the Beast.

From 12 - 5.30pm, Mickey and Minnie Mouse and Belle and the Beast will be hosting meet and greets in Middleton Hall, so don't forget your camera! Plus there will be in-store events all day and a free gift for the first 100 guests who make a purchase!

This was so funny yesterday that I've got to share!

I was at the doctors yesterday and while the nurse was checking my details she suddenly said "Snap! We must be twins! And how are you celebrating the big day?"

What a coincidence! So while I'm celebrating at Cafe Fantasia she'll be doing the same on the Queen Elizabeth! We'd even considered the same cruise (!) but it didn't work with DD's GCSEs.

What a day i have had, to cut a very very very long story short my Avast last night picked up a rootkit :scared1: and advised me to delete it (which i did) then the boot scan froze, and then it took me an hour to get back on the computer.
Anyway today i posted on MSE asking for advice and before i knew it there were all these people talking about how if their computer had detected a rootkit they would reinstall their operating sytem

I have had someone help me through it to check everything was ok (i do alot of online banking) and i have had install and run, Hijackthis, Combofix, Sophos rootkit and finally run a Malwarebytes scan :faint:

And the worst part is i will probably still take it to the repair shop and get them to have a good look. :rolleyes1

For once I get to enjoy the nice sunny weather & not be at work. I had the pleasure of weekend nights which were horrendous, most of Saturday night patients were drunk, one mother wouldn't admit her precious daughter had too much to drink, hello she is lying on the floor outside a club in her own vomit (sorry TMI), oh well she got to sit in the hospital waiting room for a few hours!

Don't get me wrong, I do care about the people but it gets you down when people are just drunk, need to go home & sleep it off & not call us. Prime example was we bought someone in who was drunk & faking being unconcious at the same time there was a really poorly baby being treated, fortunately there was a crew to take the baby to hospital.

I need a holiday after this weekend & hoping to book it after next weekend as I can then meet up with my friend to sort it out.

I think the reason they went so OTT with it all was purely as it was the first milestone anniversary the park had celebrated and also fell during the premiere of Hunchback of Notre-Dame, so the whole park was done up like the Festival of Fools that year... I must admit, I really loved the castle looking that way - it was certainly different!!

It one of my favourite weekends of the year. All 4 sisters and Mum congregate in my hometown for the weekend.
Friday night - girls' nibbles, wine and planning session,
Saturday morning - shopping and lunch up town
Saturday afternoon - theatre (Jersey Boys this year)
Saturday night - meet up with husbands and children for an evening of Chinese food and more wine and chatting
Sunday lunchtime - meal in our favourite Italian restaurant before goodbyes and off to our various homes

Love it. :goodvibes Just hope our trip up town isn't interrupted by the expected hundred thousand on the protest march.

Sunday lunchtime - meal in our favourite Italian restaurant before goodbyes and off to our various homes

Sound a fabulous weekend. :goodvibes I'd love to see the Jersey Boys - can I put myself up for adoption? :rotfl2:

:rotfl: Come and join us! Mum says when you have 4 daughters, what difference would one more make? Note please, that I was driving tonight so I did not indulge in the wine, just had many cups of tea instead.

Ahh bless you all! Hope you had a wonderful time :goodvibes and your day out wasn't spoiled by that small minority.

We had a worrying moment today - after collecting DD from uni for the Easter holidays, the car decided to suddenly die in the fast lane  luckily for us we were on a downhill incline so we managed to make it over to the hard shoulder before it came to a stop. Now we'll have to wait until Monday to find out the damage.

Scary!:scared1: I'm glad you all got home safely and hope it isn't anything too expensive to sort out.

We really did have a good time yesterday - and still have a nice meal to look forward to today. :goodvibes
At one point I was in another shop while sisters 1 and 3 were in Next with Mum. There were 2 loud CRACKS which sounded like shotguns so everybody started to go towards the exit, all except for sister 1 who continued to calmly pay for all her stuff. She said afterwards that it had taken her ages to trawl through all the sale racks so she wasn't going to leave without them! It turned out the cracking sound had been the window being smashed by the breakaway group of marchers.

Scary  right back at you. Hope you have a lovely meal.

I'm not going to spend time today worrying about how much the car's going to cost or whether it's even worth repairing :scared1: that can wait until tomorrow. Today it's   two months   until we go so I am going to spend it looking forward to seeing the Wizard of Oz and Monsieur Mickey. :dance3:

That must of been a frightening experience for you, glad you made it home in one piece:thumbsup2

What car do you drive? I would search on the internet to see if its a common problem for the car. I know its common on Ford Focus & possibly the Mondeo as they have been having problems at work with them.

It's a Megane but one of the older type. This is the second one we've had (some idiot drove into our first one and wrote it off) and up to now we've been so lucky with them - they are such reliable cars as a rule. DH thinks it's the cam belt even though it wasn't due to be replaced yet. It was too dark to see what was wrong yesterday so we just got towed home and DH is working overtime today so won't get a chance to look until tomorrow. Luckily he's already got the day off as our youngest DD is having a tooth extraction. I don't know much about cars but enough to know that if it is the cam belt then it'll have no doubt damaged the engine. I'm going to hope and pray it's something else - and something very inexpensive! ;)

I drive a Megane, its my 2nd one i've had & my dad owned one years ago. We too have had no problem with them. My dad had my old Megane coupe & the cam belt went on it. It did some damaged but there was a company that came out to repair the problem.

Hope its a simple & cheap thing to sort the car out:thumbsup2

Hope you've had good news about the car, Elaine.

My daughter just asked me why the apples we have are so big - I was trying to explain that they came with our online shopping, so I hadn't chosen them - but what I actually said was "the Cast Member picked them" - do I need to cut back on the Disney or what? :rotfl:

I really really can't imagine you cutting back on Disney! :rotfl2:

Well, we were unlucky with the car and it was the cam belt so we decided to scrap it. Shame as it had been a good little car but sometimes it's just better to cut your losses. Luckily we found exactly what we wanted (thank goodness for the internet, how did we ever manage without it) so we'll soon have wheels again.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. :goodvibes Anyone doing anything special for Mother's Day - or hoping for any nice surprises for themselves? ;)

Paultons is a really nice little park - especially for "younger" families. They've brought in a couple of really good fun but thrilling rides recently as well.

I think they could be on to a huge winner with the Peppa Pig world though - I just hope they're geared up to cope with the crowds because it's not the biggest park in the world :thumbsup2
