Hi Everyone,

My name is Aymee and my husband and I are planning on having a vow renewal to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Jeffrey and I met as sophomores at Florida State University. We started dating on January 22, 1997 (a date we still celebrate each year) and we got engaged on July 4th of that same year. We didn't get married until we both graduated though. Our wonderful wedding took place on October 14, 2000 in Miami, FL where I grew up.

We now have two beautiful children, Katerina (4) and Phillip (almost 2). I was an event planner for a University until I decided to be a stay at home mom earlier this year.

We went on the Magic at the end of last month and had a great time. We booked another trip while on board for Sept. 2, 2010. Jeffrey and I had talked about renewing our vows some day. After becoming addicted to these boards and reading all these great planning journals I could help but get inspired.

Now, I only have to wait until the 1 year mark to make the planning official.

Can't wait!

So, I decided to share the story of how we met. My DH and I have different stories of how and when it happened...

We both attended Florida State University. I say, we met during our sophomore year. My roommate invited him over for dinner one night so we could meet him. She was trying to decide if she was interested in him or not. I was making Cuban food which was a nice change and reminded me of home. I made black beans and rice (of course), homemade ham croquettes (sent from Miami by my brother), and sweet plantains. The croquettes were undercooked and the plantains were burnt. I was so upset that I sat outside on the steps and cried. Dinner parties were very important to me and things always had to be perfect. (Hence why I became an event planner later in life). He came out to sit on the steps with me and tried to make me feel better about things. When we went back inside, he ate all of the food on his plate and even asked for seconds. Needless to say, after that he was invited over for dinner all of the time. :lovestruc

Now, for my DH's version of when and how we met.

He says we met during our freshmen year. My roommate (same one from my story) and another friend invited him over to study in our dorm room. It was 2 months into being there (Parent's weekend) and my sister and hometown friends were in town visiting. He said we came in the room to tell my roommate we were going to eat dinner at Olive Garden. After that day he says we saw each other 3 times a week when I was going to English class. He says that he said hi everytime he saw me and I always said hi in return. So, I do remember someone being in the room that day freshmen year, I just didn't remember the person distinctly. As for the 3 times a week, I am sure it happened but don't remember. People at FSU are friendly, we say hi alot. :rolleyes1

Needless to say, whenever someone asks how we met, we each have to tell our own story...

He teases me about it all of the time because the different instances he mentions did happen, it's just amazing what two people see and don't see.

In Attendance: We expected it to only be the four of us but my sister just booked her trip so it now looks like there will be ten of us. :yay:
Me, Jeffrey, Katerina, and Phillip
My sister, her husband, her 3 kids, and my mom

Flower Girl/Maid of Honor: Katerina
Ring Bearer/Best Man: Phillip

First of all, your children are adorable. You are a cute family.

That's funny about you thinking you met at different times. The same thing happened with my and DF. I was part time at Disney and he only worked when he came home from the summer. He said we met the summer before I think we did!! =)

I like all the monograms but I think my two favorites are the first one by the creative board and the second one of yours!

So, I found a dress on Ebay that I loved. It's a shade of lavender in this picture but the one on sale was white.

http://i783.photobucket.com/albums/yy114/kandpsmom2009/Dress1.jpg

Unfortunately, I have gotten used to getting my best friend's opinion for things like this. We used to work together and so I would just call her over to my office, show her what I liked, and got instant opinions. Well, life is not as simple now that we don't work together. I emailed her the dress yesterday but she didn't see the email until today.

I, on the other hand, couldn't stop thinking about the dress. So, first thing this morning, I decided to get it even without anyone's opinion. So, imagine my disappointment when I go back to ebay and the dress has been sold. I was heartbroken...:sad1:

I have learned my lesson, next time if I love it, I am not waiting for opinions.

Then I found this choker necklace that I really like.

http://i783.photobucket.com/albums/yy114/kandpsmom2009/Choker.jpg

I would really like it with rose quartz stones since my colors are silver and pink. I contacted the seller but she doesn't have it in rose quartz. So, I am not sure whether to wait and see if in time I can find it in rose quartz. I am afraid I will end up with neither...The listing ends in a day so I don't have much time to think about it. What do you think? Should I just get it? Or should I wait and see?

Aww, what a bummer that that pretty dress you wanted got sold! :sad2: Well, I'm sure all that means is that you'll find one that's even prettier and just perfect for you!

As for the choker, if you have any doubts about it, I'd probably wait. It's best to be 100% sure you're getting what you want. Especially when it comes to ebay or etsy, since most sellers don't accept refunds. (It is lovely though!)

So, I've been looking at dresses again and I have found two that I love!

Dress One

Dress Two

http://i783.photobucket.com/albums/yy114/kandpsmom2009/Dress2.jpg

Remember, I am on the plus side so the dresses will look slightly ( ;) ) different on me. What do you all think?

Then, I also found this other dress I fell in love with. My BFF said it wasn't weddingish enough but I liked it so much that I thought I would buy it anyway. I could wear it for dinner another night on the cruise.

So, I have just spoken to Brie and have been penciled in for the September 2, 2010 cruise. I am very excited about that.:cheer2: She will call me back at the one year mark to confirm.

The only disappointing thing is that the 2010 prices came out and they now consider a DCL vow renewal and wedding the same. So, the price has gone up by $1000. :sad2:

All in all, I think it's still worth the price!

That pink dress is beautiful. I agree it's not very weddingy, but it's plenty cruisy :lmao:

I like the 2nd white dress you posted, but maybe that's because it's very wedding dressy and I'm all for the whole wedding dressy thing right now

That choker is really nice, but if you're not 100% then I wouldn't get it. I agree, wait till you get your dress, then you'll know if it's going to match or not.

Hi! Congratulations on your 10 years. Your story is actually very similar to mine and my DH's! We met at FSU - well actually at the Subway on Tennessee St. right there by the campus! We must have been at school at the same time. Our kids are even the same ages! (It's really quite freaky with all these similarities!) I also have that Mickey necklace, and it is beautiful. Get one! Even if you don't wear it for your VR, you can wear it with the pink dress.

I love the pic of your family - too cute!

My vote is for dress #2. It looks more princessy.

Wow, I can't believe how long I've been away. Life has just been very crazy lately.

Unfortunately, my dad has been my focus lately, so the VR has taken a backseat to him. He's had kidney problems for many years now but in the last couple of weeks, he actually gone into a more severe kidney failure. Phillip's second birthday was less than a month ago and my dad was able to make it to the party and he looked pretty good. Then over labor day weekend we went to Disney and while there my mom called saying we should come down to see him as soon as we returned.

Needless to say, we left early that morning and went down to see him. I was saddened to see that he couldn't even get out of bed. You could barely hear him when he talked. He hadn't eating in a couple of days. It seems that he was at the beginning stages of kidney failure.

Two days, on Thursday, later my mom and dad decided to renew their wedding vows. Actually, they got married by the Catholic church which they hadn't done in the 30+ years that they were married.

http://i783.photobucket.com/albums/yy114/kandpsmom2009/IMG_5328.jpg

Things weren't looking good. On Friday, he was taken by ambulance to the hospital where they started dialysis (something he hasn't wanted to do).

He's now back home and looking better. He has to get dialysis 3 times a week for about 4 hours each time. He's almost 89 so this is taking a toll on him.

On the VR front, we have been confirmed for ceremony on board the Disney Wonder. I have the STDs and invitations but haven't given them out because of my dad. I am not sure he will be here for the event and even if he is I don't think he will be able to come. I really didn't want to remind him of that. So, I am not sure when I will be given them out. I will post pictures of them soon.

So, it has been quite some time...

The VR took a complete back seat to my dad and his health. He started on dialysis back in September but it was a very hard procedure for him. We had many touch and go moments as it simply was too hard on him. Fortunately, we were able to celebrate his 89th birthday with him back in November and we had a wonderful Christmas as well. (I know the candles look like 98 but that's because he wanted them facing him which then were backwards for the camera)

http://i783.photobucket.com/albums/yy114/kandpsmom2009/IMG_5573.jpg

Just this month, we decided to move the vow renewal from the Disney Wonder to a local cruise line. This way my dad could attend since he lives in Miami. RCCI, Carnival, and Norwegian all let you have the ceremony and receptions prior to the ship's departure from Miami. So, your guests don't actually have to sail with you. We looked at moving the date up and were in the process of looking over all of our options to decide which ship we were going to have the renewal on when my mom called to tell me that my dad had decided to stop his dialysis treatments.

As time passed, the dialysis seemed to be getting harder for him and it wasn't really making him feel any better. So, on May 3rd he went to his last dialysis treatment per his wishes. Two weeks later, on May 17th, he passed away. During those last two weeks, things just happened so quickly. Before I knew it he was gone...

So, after some discussion, we decided to move the renewal back on to the Disney Wonder. We truly feel it's what my dad would have wanted. We have decided to push the date back to October 28th though. So, in time, I know I will need to get back in VR mode.
