Enabler that I am Jen, Merle Norman has a big sale on Vera. I think 50 % off. My mom got two purses in Deerfield this week, super cute and newer patterns.
I had to laugh.. the ad at the top of the page here was for Vera Bradley through some website... it is a sign!
well, the ads on the page always reflect what is being discussed. That's just how they work. There's a thread I'm in where we've brought up really strange things just to see if the ads would reflect what we were discussing :rotfl: It's kinda fun!
ALTHOUGH...sometimes I see ads for weight loss when there is NO talk of that sort of stuff on a thread...:confused3...guess the ads are magic too

You just should make a swing by here and visit with us...
I have the on the go, it is pretty big too. You could probably test shop at my house... we have too many veras!
Hey....next time we are heading up that way, I will let you know so we could maybe meet!!! I'm sure Megan and Hannah would have MUCH in common....and of course Miss Em will have to join in on all that fun!!! :goodvibes Is the On the Go a backpack or sling purse? I'm not familiar with that style.
Jen- so sorry you are having so much angst. I think we all relate. As others have said, there is no resort on property that doesn't have a bad review so you have to take it with a grain of salt. But, that said, you should also go with your gut and if you're the kind of family who really enjoys relaxing at the resort then maybe you want to consider a change. Either way it is going to be a magical trip. Good luck with your decision!
Sorry you are fretting over the ADRs you didn't get. Remember there is still time. And I think your line-up looks fantastic!
I have no advice on the wardrobe. A fashion plate, I am not. :sad2:
Thanks for all the hugs and encouragement!!! I have big plan changes that I thikn have helped alleviate most of that worry.....UPDATE coming right up!

A new month, a new week, a weekend of quiet to think it all through, and what do you have?!?!?!?! That's RIGHT---CHANGES my friends!!!! Tom and I had a nice 4th of July weekend, but the holiday got us thinking and dreaming about our own Jolly Holiday of sorts---our trip in September. And what happens when two like-minded parents get to thinking? We start really analyzing our vacation choices, and realize we want to make some changes.
It all started out when we really started looking at our park plans and what we hoped to do, and we both decided pretty much at the same time that we no longer really wanted the Hoppers. They are great, but we want a slow, leisurely trip this year, and we don't feel like the hoppers are going to be a big help out to us. SO, we decided that we would need to plan our days as if we were only going to do one park per day. I know this is probably shocking to many of you---heck, I shocked myself---but I really think we are all going to like it this way so much better!
So we did some looking over our schedule and did some minor changes. BUT with our changes, came some good fortune....can you find it?????
NEW Itinerary:
9/21--Check in/Pool/And at some point head over to wander around MK....CS somewhere for dinner (we don't want to be bound down by a ressie)
9/22--8:35 am Breakfast at Tusker House :) AK (9-5pm) Probably some swim time at the resort then Dinner at Chef Mickey's at 8:10pm
9/23--All day at EPCOT (9-12am PM EMH) Dinner at Kona Cafe at 5:20pm....I sure hope the monorail is working by then.
9/24--All day at MK (8-9pm AM EMH) Dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern at 8:40pm.....hopefully a quiet stroll down an empty Main Street afterwards!
9/25--All day at DHS (9-8pm) Fantasmic at 8pm We are going to do CS all day at DHS.....can't find a ressie at Sci Fi yet....still looking!
9/26--8:10am breakfast at Crystal Palace then All Day at MK (9-10pm) Dinner at Tony's Restaurant at 5:10pm
9/27--All Day at MK (9-11pm PM EMH) Lunch at 1pm at Cinderella's Royal Table Dinner at CS
9/28--9:30am Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare Supercalifragilistic breakfast then depart for home......:sad2:
SO, did you catch our fortunate luck?!?!?!?!?!? Tusker House RESSIE!!!! YEAH!!!!
Okay, so we were all in the mood for change, and thought, why not call WDW and see about upgrading to CSR.........well, then we hit a problem. The wonderful CM I spoke to reassured me that we would have no problem switching resorts and keeping our Free Dining promo.......now would there be room?!?!??!??!?!?!?!!?
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:scared1::scared1: :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scar ed1:
That's right kiddies.....she said there was no ressies left at CSR or POFQ or POR. We could still upgrade to CBR, but at this time, no luck for our beloved CSR. Well, the road block temporarily derailed the change train. Tom wasn't prepared with info about CSR, and didn't want to switch until he knew more about it.....plus, we still really wanted to go to CSR.......what should we do kiddies?!?!?!?!?! We are sold on the upgrade, but not sure about the destination............it would be nice if it could be a little easier, eh?!?!?!?!??!?!

I am always open and willing for any help I can get.......so feel free to divulge any and all wisdom about that resort.
I don't think that either one of us are opposed to it, we just weren't prepared for it. Our convo went something a little like this...........
DISNEY CM (on speakerphone): "I have no availability for your dates at CSR, POFQ, or POR, but I can upgrade you to CBR if you would like?"
TOM (Whispered to me, but I'm sure CM heard): "CBR??? Where is that one??? What is that one??? Do you know ANYTHING about it???""
ME (Whispered back): "I don't know much, know that it is Caribbean themed....I think they have Nemo rooms....know they have pirate rooms (pirate:)....the only thing I know is that when ***Friend who will remain nameless*** stayed there, she complained that the resort was way too big and the buses were always crowded."
ME (to CM): "Can you give us a second to discuss this?"
CM---politely put us on hold
TOM--"When did they go down to CBR?"
ME--"In September."
TOM---"OOOOOOHHHHHHH!!!!! :scared1: I don't know about this......maybe we should wait, hope that CSR opens up, and try to find out more about CBR."
ME--"Okay SWEETIE!!! :lovestruc " (Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was really icky sweet too!!! :lmao:)
ANYWAY.....then we got the CM back on the phone, and then finished our call and told her we were going to wait.
So that was pretty much the jist of our CBR discussion. I told him I would find out more about the resort, the layout, the rooms, which section to request if possible, and most importantly THE BUS TRANSPORTATION!!!! This man lives and dies by these buses....so it becomes very important! SO, in response to your question TK......tell me everything you can about that resort so that I will know if it is a switch he can live with or not.......love your help btw!!!!
Hurray for getting that coveted Tusker House ressie!!! :yay:

After reading your mouth-watering recount of your breakfast there, it made me SO want to go even more....now we can!!! BUT don't worry, that wasn't the only reason we dropped the Park Hoppers.
I think CBR looks great...just need more details about it I guess since I know nothing!!! I hear the pool is fantastic....need to go check out the details.
I did notice that you have a Tusker house reservation. Is that the happiness that came out of your changes?
Sorry that you weren't able to get your CSR ressies. Here's to hoping something changes for you.
I literally did a "YES!" really loudly and a little of this  after I got my confirmation number. Tom was quite amused in how happy that made me!!! I'm hoping either something else opens up...especially as the 45 day mark nears, or that we will feel comfortable enough moving to CBR. I need more info about that place though.
We stayed at CBR last summer and really enjoyed it! What room options were left? We also had hoppers last summer and never hopped - never found a need to!
The CM made it sound like plenty of rooms were left...not sure which types exactly.....since I know nothing about this place, can you help give me some guidance as to where is a good location, type of room to request, and info about the bus transportation?!?!?!?! TIA!!! How are you doing.....still feeling okay I hope!!!! :) I am actually relieved about the hopping situation....I think our trip will feel so much more laid back now....I can't wait!
Hmmmm, I did not know this..

Now, I have to say, having recently stayed at CBR with a friend, I think it's a wonderful, relaxing resort. It lends a feel to the vacation that you really are on vacation, and it has a quality to it that I think, honestly, would make me consider it for girlfriend trips, but not with my family. I was going to save this for the end of my report with Tink, but I'll enlighten you since you're pondering. There were times when I was walking around CBR, or coming home on the busses and thinking to myself, there's no way I could stay here with my family. At least not until my son is much, much older. And the reason for that is because of how spread out it is, and how much time it can take to get back to your village at the end of the night. I've been on busses to Pop late at night, holding my asleep child in my arms, my husband bravely standing with the stroller, and let me tell you, that's a chore in and of itself. Never mind if you're also standing and holding said child. Quite frankly, even though it doesn't take that much time, I can't fathom having to do that at CBR, especially if you're the last stop. Because the routes through the villages weren't always the same. Sometimes we were first off, sometimes last. It was hard to tell. And there was one night Tink and I were heading back from whatever park we were at, and it was standing room only. And I was in such an awkward spot on the bus, and I was so tired. Tired of standing. Now, that could happen anywhere, but with the added time, it just seemed forever. It was probably, in reality, less than ten minutes. So for me, with my family, I won't do it right now.
Let me tell you, though, I am SO glad I stayed there. The villages are very peaceful, very quiet, and very relaxing. I loved the hustle and bustle around the main pool and then being able to retreat to our own quiet corner. The walk to OPR didn't bother me, and I think Tink did it more than I did, and it didn't phase her either. So if that's the type of atmosphere you're looking for in a resort, honestly, I say go for it.
Yes, I just quoted myself. Laugh if you must. I know I will.
Hon, this is something I wrote on Wings PTR when she was debating staying at CBR. And it's pretty much my most honest assessment of that resort. I absolutely love it there, and I hope it helps.
Now to address some other concerns that may or may not be included in that post. I know Tom mentioned crowded busses. Truthfully, I rarely if ever noticed a crowded bus when we were there, with the exception of leaving late one night from the MK. Other than that, they were very reasonable, and not full. And this was Memorial Day weekend. Now, free dining may be different. I know Pop is a great resort, but it can sure have some crowded busses during free dining depending on whether or not you're traveling at a peak time. That, to me, just goes with the territory of staying at a value, but I know for you guys, it may be an issue.
Now, which value are you staying at? Dang, I can't remember.
I know my opinion up there doesn't bode so well for your little family and CBR, but if I had the choice between CBR and Pop for you guys, I would lean towards CBR. And for this reason. Because there is such a quietness to the resort, and I don't know if you'll get that level of calm at a value. At CBR, when I left the parks, unless I was right at OPR, I felt like I was in another world. A very quiet, very peaceful world. And that can be a good thing. I know I may not be helping here, but to me, every single resort on the property is some kind of trade off. You gain one wonderful thing and you lose another. It's prioritizing what you're really want to gain, and what you're willing to lose for it that would help. Maybe a Pro/Con list? :goodvibes

BTW, We did single day passes last December and it worked out just fine. We typically are big hopper people, but it really wasn't a big deal. Didn't phase us and it worked out just fine. In fact, we didn't even miss the hoppers that trip!

Jen-
We did 10 days at CBR last Oct and loved it. I have tons of pictures in my TR of the room (it was a King bed, but you'll get the idea) and of the resort. Links in Post #2. Yes it is a big resort, but every Village had it's own bus stop. I think the size of the resort is only a problem if you were running back and forth to the food court/pool frequently. I don't think you'd be doing that. I don't know if Megs is a water bug or not, but she'll still little enough to enjoy the kiddie pool and older enough to enjoy the big pool with you and Tom. I only rode the bus once back from DTD so I can't comment on that other to say that CBR doesn't share buses with another resort...it just makes a loop picking up at the different villages. The resort is so centrally located to all the parks it's so easy to drive your own car if you wanted to. That's what we did in October and really like it since we were getting there at opening.

Thanks TK for the info!!! It really does help! I did some snooping of the resort, and I think it looks beautiful!! I know people may complain about the size, but CSR is just as big too! I'm not worried about that right now at all. I think if we go, I would want to stay somewhere close to the front....what area would you suggest? Also, I was reading somewhere that their buses to the parks only start an hour before opening.....is that right???? We have some early breakfasts, and I was hoping we could still use Disney Transport to get us there.

No....at 5, she is very much a girlie girl, and still not quite ready for the Pirates. I had heard that they are working on Nemo rooms too.....does anyone know if these are available yet????? Now THAT is something she would LOVE!!!!!
BTW----Upon HIGH recommendation from the lovely TK, I just made another ressie for dinner on the 23rd...our Epcot night.........................at Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club. I think it will be much closer than having to deal with the monorail madness to get to and from EP to Poly. I'm not sure what time the busses start running. To get that info, I would take a look on the resorts board and see if you can find the CBR FAQ thread. Safetymom runs it and she is a fantastic wealth of information. I used that a lot before my May trip.
It is quite a beautiful resort. Tink and I were in Jamaica, and it was very nice. I would say about a 5 minute walk to OPR right across the bridge, and it was very convenient. So it was not a preferred location, but still very nice to me. And all rooms that are not pirate have been converted to Nemo rooms. They're lots of fun. Do you want me to post some pics? :goodvibes

If all goes as planned, I think that my girl Tink is going to be posting the update where we get to our room on our co-trip report. If she hasn't been able to (lots of Photobucket issues), I'll come on over here after work and post some right here. (I don't want to steal her/our thunder. :lmao:)

Okay, get your minds out of the gutters.....................
There isn't much new in the way of the trip....life is getting in the way of my planning, and over-planning, and shopping, and dreaming, and well, you get the picture. BUT, I wanted to hop on here and give you a little QUICK update of sorts.........
Over the past week, we have done some moving around in our house....Megan decided she wanted to move her room to another bedroom...so we did...and then I rearranged the other rooms once that was done. I love the new layout of everything in the house....got to say, my daughter is BRILLIANT!!! :lmao: The apple doesn't fall to far from the tree, eh?!?!?!?! :rotfl:ANYWAY, one of the things I did while the moving process was going on, was created for myself a DISNEY DRAWER!!!!! I have been inspired in so many ways by my beloved CP, and this is one of them. I now have a huge drawer in a spare dresser that is devoted to all things Disney....planning that is! I have stored all my guide books, empty Disney scrapbooks that are awaiting to be filled with priceless memories of upcoming trips, standard items that ALWAYS come with us on all WDW trips---extra poncho packets, Megan's pins and lanyard, all of our Mickey Ears, some Disney-themed sling backpacks that I have made for Megs in the passed.....I think you get the idea. I also decided that this drawer will now be the home to the variety of items that will be purchased prior to our trip, so they can all wait together until that glorious time comes for them to be packed. And what might you say is among these items so far??????? Well,
--One small 1 fl. oz. tube of Coppertone WaterBabies sunscreen that will be put in my park bag.....whenever I decide upon said park bag
--One travel sized packet of Dove Facial Cleansing Cloths
--Two travel sized packets of Wet Ones Wipes---again for said park bag
--and a 4 pack package of tissue packs.
YEAH.......................not so much yet! BUT, I know that there will be PLENTY more added to that as the weeks pass by. BUT HEY, it's a START!!!!
JUST wanted to update and share with you all!!!! Have a good Friday!!!!!

Sorry, didn't mean to leave you hanging-- it's been quite a week around here. Liam (my younger son) got tubes in his ears on Wednesday and we had my parents in town to help us juggle kids. Yesterday afternoon, we had a meeting with the school district to discuss Liam's potential eligibility into their developmental preschool program. Although there were some delays, the only significant one is in speech and he will qualify for a once a week phonology group for next year.
As I was driving home, I had to stop at Kroger to pick some stuff up for dinner. Our Kroger has a mini Dr office with a nurse practitioner on staff and I decided to have them do a BP check -- well, it was 160/100. She had me wait a minute and do the other arm. In that one, 150/90. So, called the OB who sent me up to L&D for bloodwork, monitoring etc. All of my bloodwork and urine was normal, but my BP only cooperated while I was lying down. The on call OB was not my normal (and remember the boys were born in Michigan, not Ohio) so I think the on-call OB pretty much overlooked my history and sent me home without any precautions or restrictions - including no 24 hour urine screen, bed rest, medication -- ANYTHING. I was baffled. So I am putting myself on modified bedrest until I see the OB on Tuesday and can really discuss this in depth. I do not want a 31 week baby!
Ok... back to Disney, because I am pretty sure talking disney is one of the best things for one's BP out there.... :) Caribbean Beach! Here is the map of the resort for reference. http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/cbrmap.htm We stayed in Barbados 16, which is about as far from the food court as you can get making it about a 8-9 minute walk. We were about 3 minutes from the bus stop and the Barbados bus stop picks up first for over half of the resorts. The only place I'd really say to avoid is Trinidad South. It's way out there and ALWAYS is the last to pick up. Since we really never ate at the food court, we didn't mind the walk. We were there while they were refurbing the main pool (which is now AMAZING) so having the 1 minute walk to the quiet pool was perfect. You can pay extra to stay in Martinique 24,25, 26 or Trinidad North and then you are a stone's throw from the main pool. If you don't want to pay extra for a preferred room, your best bets are to stay in Jamaica 44, 45, 46 or Aruba 51, 52, 53. If Barbados is not picking up first, then Jamaica is. Plus they are a short walk across the lagoon to OPR.
Like others have said... CBR is super tropical island relaxing! There are beaches with hammocks in the sand all over the place and plenty of climbers to play on. Also, you can watch Illuminations from one of the beaches. (Which one it is escaping me right now...) I have plenty of pictures, but they really don't compare to Saftymom's. Hope that helps!

BUT, most importantly, REST REST REST!!!!! Start calling out to all your family and friends to rally around you right now and come help! When would we ever mind you "butting" in?!?!?!?! It is bigger than the hipster, but very similar in style and the way you wear it. Since I need to upgrade to something bigger, I thought it would be a good candidate.

They are probably higher because I think they just released the mailbag style in the Spring. :confused3
It has a flap instead of how the hipster zips....

Then it has a small pocket when you lift up the flat that is zippered that has slots for credit cards and then you unzip the big pocket that was in the previous pictures. There is a lot of room in there. I carried a small umbrella, my camera, my tripod, a pair of socks and a bottled water at times.

Oh, slots for ids/cards would be awesome. I'm debating how to carry those, and was actually debating purchasing a new Vera wallet. The Euro wallet actually has nine slots in it, and folds small, but I digress.

Happy Monday Everyone!!!!! We are officially down to 70 days......the days are flying past us....it will be here before we know it....I just hope I'm packed!!!
Today has been productive for me in the way of Disney planning............much has been done.......all good!!!
FIRST UP: Boutiques!!!
I realized yesterday while I was speaking to my brother about his upcoming trip with his kiddos in October (a mere two weeks after us) that I had not booked a BBB reservation for Miss Megan yet!!!! :scared1: There was a slight bit of panic, but all that was relieved this morning when I dialed up their ressie number, asked for the date and time I wanted, and it immediately popped up available for the CM!!!!!! PHEW!!!!! So per special request of our birthday girl, Miss Megan will be pampered and Princessfied on Sunday, September 27th at 11:30am---right before our lunch with Cindy at the castle at 1:00pm. SHEER PERFECTION!!!! This will give us a great opportunity to hit our favorites in Fantasyland in the morning, then hit the boutique, and follow it up with a much anticipated lunch with the ladies at 1pm!!!! By that point, we will be MUCH rested, cooled off, and READY to take the Kingdom for the rest of the night until 11pm since it is open late for EMH!!!!:banana: Those of you who I might see on this day, just think, you will get to see the honorable and beautiful Princess Megan Olivia!!!! I'm so excited!!! This will be our last day at the parks, and our last chance to celebrate the heck out of the wonderful birthday that this trip is honor of. This day, moreso than any of the others, is truly MEGAN'S DAY!!!! (Ok, I know the others are truly centered around her, but this is the pinnacle of the celebration!) The BBB and the lunch with Cindy were her only requests for the entire vacation, and I am so happy to be able to oblige her those wishes!!!!
***Possible tissue alert upcoming!!!***
Even though her birthday isn't until the 29th, the 27th is also significant in our story........it was on that fateful day in 2003, that all heck broke loose, my body gave up, and we were rushed to the hospital to make sure we would both make it. It was the day I knew that there was no more holding off her delivery weeks at a time.....we did our best to hold it off by every passing hour. It was the beginning of two very intense, very scary days that culminated in her emergent delivery during the day on the 29th. So, on that day six years later, I will be thinking of all that we have survived, and I will be so elated to be at WDW celebrating that accomplishment with the prettiest princess out there....(IMO ;)) It will be nice to have so much happiness and fun to look forward to on that day!!!!
***Okay, kleenex away now!!!!****
Okay, Moving on to PEACOCKS!!!!!
Okay, I'm not talking about the feathered kind or the NBC kind, I'm talking about the PARK BAG KIND!!!!! What's that you say???? Could it be possible that the quest for the illusive park bag could be over?????? WHY, indeed it is my friends!!!! Here are my lovely Peacock Ladies that will be accompanying me to Mickey's House:
https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/248/9086/1.ccd/origin-d2.scene7.com/is/image/VeraBradley/10329059?$240x210$https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/248/9086/1.ccd/origin-d2.scene7.com/is/image/VeraBradley/10336059?$240x210$
This is an older pattern, but one that I have always loved....it doesn't photo well, but it is a beautiful teal green with lime green and aqua accents.....I used to have some other pieces in this pattern, and always LOVED them!!!!
Now, I'm sure you are wondering why I went with the backsack??!?!?!?!?!?! There are many reasons:
1. I did some thinking, and realized all summer long I have been using a backsack type bag at Kings Island, and have had NO complaints carrying that type of bag at all. They are light and don't cause strain on my back or shoulders. This bag is even better than the one I have because it has a zippered outer section, and then three interior pockets as well as the large backsack area.
2. I did a reconsolidation of what I will be carrying, and it will all fit nicely.......
---camera (will put in outer zippered pocket
---cell phone (Interior pocket #1)
---ID case with the following in it: KTTW, Dis Visa Rewards card, Dis Visa card, Driver's license, Meg's ID, Health Insurance card, ADR card. (This is pictured above...it will also go in Interior pocket #1)
---Small First Aid Kit in small blue pouch: Bandaids, Cut up Moleskin, Small Med pack with Excedrin, Children's Chewable, Immodium AD, Dramamine, Small tube of Neosporin, Chapstick, Travel size sunscreen, and travel size deodorant.
---Small tissue packet (Interior pocket #2)
---Tip envelope (Interior pocket #2)
---Gum (Interior pocket #3)
---Fruit snacks for Megs (Interior pocket #3)
---Ziploc with Megs extra outfit and brush (Main section)
---Small pack of travel Wet Wipes (Main section)
---Meg's Autograph book and pen (Main section)
---Small pack of disposable ponchos for us (Main section)
---Hand sanitizer dispenser clipped to outer zipper
3. Last but NOT least: IT WAS ONLY $15!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 :cool1::woohoo::yay::dance3::cheer2::banana::love: :worship:
Seriously, how does it get any better than that!!!!!! The matching ID case was only $5.....maybe that is how, but WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a happy traveler right now!!!!
Perfect Park Bag----CHECK!
Perfect shoes----my lovely NB and Teva Terra-Fi's CHECK CHECK!!!!
Perfect shirts----------CHECK, CHECK, CHECK!!!!!!
(Insert record needle scratching over record noise here!)
 HUH?!?!? What's that you say??? Did you add in PERFECT SHIRTS JEN?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Why YES, yes I DID!!!!! Wanna hear about it????? I thought so!!!
Two weeks ago, Old Navy was having this sale---$5 shirts, shorts, and swimwear. I needed a shirt to tye dye for my women's group at church, so I quickly ran in there one day, picked up a $5 V-neck tshirt to dye, and was on my way...... I didn't think much about it, just needed it to fill that need, and lo and behold, I put the finished product on Saturday to wear to our Church's festival (the purpose of the shirt), and this was something like Tom's reaction:  :) :lovestruc   :thumbsup2 ;) ;)
Let's just sum up that emoticon fest with this....it was GOOD!!! And I don't usually say this about myself, but I looked pretty darn good!!!!! SO, I think, as long as I can find a good sale or good online coupon, I will be purchasing some more of those lovely shirts for Disney. Now, I know they won't be "Disneyfied," but I think some of you might be able to help me solve that problem.....love some suggestions!!!!
SO I AM A HAPPY TRAVELER!!!!
The only other quest I'm on is for some cute bottoms to go with my now other perfect accessories, the perfect way to fix my hair for WDW, and maybe some fun Disney jewelry. (The only thing I need to bear in mind with the jewlery is that I either need clip earrings--my pierced whole ripped out years ago---or I need to go somehow repierce it!)
OH.......and I need to finally find some peace with our ressie...whether we move or not!!!! BUT, that will all come with a little more time!!!!
Let me know what you all think!!!! UP next on our UPdate schedule: The beginning of our lists of MUST DO's....with pics!!!!!

Hi Jen! I just read through your whole PTR (Friday and today) :goodvibes I love it so far! Megan seems like the sweetest little girl. Your family is precious. My husband and I are going to be at Disney World the same time you are!! We'll be at AKL (renting points) the 20-26. :thumbsup2 I was going to say that we'll be at Kona at the same time (we have a 5:00 ressie on the 23rd) but yall have switched now... :upsidedow And we'll be at Fantasmic the same time your family is! Good luck with figuring out the CSR/CBR issue. And picking a bag. I've decided on a Mini Hipster and a regular Hipster...b/c my DH is carrying a backpack for the bigger things. The VB backpacks look like they'd be really easy on your back... I'm anxious to read more! :goodvibes
Hey sweetie!!! I SO wish we were at AKL too.....that was on our list at first, but now you see how that all got changed!!!! I haven't cancelled Kona yet....I want to see which Tom will prefer! I will keep you posted just in case we decide to stick with it! If you see us at Fantasmic, please don't hesitate to come say "hi!" I think you will love both the mini and the regular hipsters....I used the hipster last year, and my Mom and Sis both used the mini's (they had less to carry) and we were all VERY happy Ladies!!! If I didn't need just a wee bit more storage room this year, I would be going back with my beloved hipster, but I do think this backsack will be great!!! Thanks for reading along!

I feel quite sniffly all of a sudden.
Don't get me wrong. I LOVE having a boy. It's a whole other world, and I can't even go into how many things we do together and things I learn from him.
But I get weepy when I think of you and your sweet little princess at the BBB and then eating at Cindy's. It makes me misty, my dear. Especially given what a special (and sort of terrifying) day that is in your history.
Now, I'm going to put my kleenex away and be superficial.
Because heck, it's fun. ;)
Where did you get that backsack for $15????

What a great update! I love that bag I think it will work wonders for you!!!!
Awww...what a great story Jen!! Megan is such a true blessing and I hope I will be one of those you run into so I can meet the beautiful princess herself on her special day!!!!
I have squashed the agony that is the bag drama and am still working on the shoe drama but all of that must go on hold for the next couple of weeks while I'm out of town...but I will be ready to make some purchases when I get home YAY!!!

We actually wanted 'Ohana that night...but all they had was a 9:30 ressie. We usually eat around 5, so we knew that would not work. I'll keep my eyes open for you and your family! Way to go on the new backsack find!!! :woohoo: That's an amazing deal! And it's awesome that it fits everything! And :yay: for finding cute, comfy shirts!!! Do you have a pic of the one you made for church?

Great to hear your bag hunt is over. I know that is a relief. I know I will be happy when I finally settle on a bag. The big backpacks and the larger hipster of some of the retired patterns are 40% off online at VB for three days, but i can't decide.
I agree with you about new balance shoes they are wonderful, they are the only walking shoe I buy, because they come in larger widths. I have a small short wide foot that is hard to fit, but I can always fined a NB shoe wide enough.

The backsack was found on Verabradley.com----their newer patterns that they have on sale were $33, but since this pattern is older than that, it was only $15.....and they had several to choose from in the $15 range. I know I just heard you dashing over to that site.....I could feel the breeze as you ran past all the way down here!!! :lmao:

They had some REALLY good deals on the site yesterday....I had a hard time passing up the deal on the hipster, but I know it won't be big enough!
I seriously should try to find a job with that company....I never stop talking about how much I love mine!!! I have sensitive feet that DO NOT like to be sore or blistery, and these shoes have eliminated that problem for me!

Hi! I just found you and am now all caught up (at least on the main posts). Your family sounds great, and I think you'll have a great time.
If it helps at all, we've stayed at ASMO three times now (my kids think of it as home at Disney) and have had a great experience each time. Yes, it's a Value - but that's all we've known as a family, so it's not so hard. We've been in Fantasia twice and 101 Dalmations once, and have never had a housekeeping issue, rude CM (except for one lady in the food court we kept running into when we used the DP) or transportation issue. We've been there in September (as recently as last year while I was on maternity leave) and, while we have had to stand coming back from the parks right after fireworks, we were pleasantly surprised at how often WDW split the All-Stars up on buses. If you can't get a switch to a moderate, I think you'll be ok. I'm actually suffering from a bit of resort-itis for our next trip in June '10 (it's a large group, and we're trying to find the place that will best suit us all), so I'm right there with you! I hope we have a decision before 2010 packages come out...
Anyway, great PTR, and I can't wait to hear more!
(from a fellow Jen ;) There are a lot of us, aren't there??)

I have stayed at many of the different resorts, so if you need any suggestions for your next trip, let me know. Renting DVC is also another great route to go! SO glad to find another Jen!!! ;)

As promised, several of my next updates are going to be focusing on the Parks---each one individually---discussing and sharing our Must Do's, LOVES, and DON'Ts for rides, attractions, and eateries at each park. Embedded in my sharing will be pictures from previous trips of our adventures in these parks.....ENJOY!!!
FIRST UP, as requested by Cherbear----EPCOT!!!!!
Experimental Prototype City of Tomorrow!!!!
It is quite ironic that I am starting with this park, because for the past few trips, this has been one of our least favorites to tour----not that I don't love it for its' own uniqueness---but in respect to things that Megan can do and enjoy, this park has not sparked her interests as much as the other parks so far. I am hoping that due to the fact that she has gotten MUCH taller since the last trip and MUCH more daring in respect to rides, I think we may have a new appreciation for EPCOT after this year's trip....I am hoping!!!
To start off our discussions, I thought I would share with you all Megan's reflections on EPCOT that I obtained from an "interview" I did with her the other day.
Her favorite ride at EPCOT????
This really shocked me, but it is..........
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/WALTDISNEYWORLD2007233.jpg
I think it has much to do with the computer screens and the interactive part of it more than anything else, but that is what she chose. Now, at one point in her life, she did decide she would NOT ride it ever again because she is HIGHLY sensitive to smells, and HATED the part where Rome (I think?) was "burning," but we have rectified that situation by telling her that we will put some yummy lotion on her hands right before we board and when we get to that spot, she can bury her nose in her hands and sniff away so that she doesn't smell that yucky fire!!!
I have to say, as favorites go, this is probably Tom's favorite and ties with Soarin' for me----there is just something so completely "EPCOT" about this ride, that it is always our #1 MUST DO!
Having said that, there are quite a few other MUST DOs too:
We can NEVER pass up our pals at the Seas....NEMO and CRUSH!!!!
Mine...Mine...Mine....MINE!!!

I am sure while around the Seas, we will also have to take in some of our favorites at the Land and Journey to Imagination Pavilions too---Soarin', the Living with the Land Boat ride, and Figment ride.
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/015-2.jpg
We will NOT be seeing the Honey I Shrunk the Audience 3D experience this year though........
Here was Megan before that last year:
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/019-2.jpg
and afterwards, she was more like this:  :scared1: :sad1: so NO to that!!!
BUT, yes to FIGMENT....FOR ONE BIG REASON: (double click on it to watch the video!)
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/th_332-1.jpg (http://s292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/?action=view¤t=332-1.flv)
She likes the ride, but she LOVES those jumping pads!!!
We may then have to stop for lunch at our FAVORITE EPCOT Counter Service---Sunshine Seasons.....their food is so good, and you have SO much to choose from!!! The dessert selection alone is reason to go......you could wind up with something as yummy as this:
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/331-2.jpg
Trust me, that brownie was GOOD----it had marshmallows, chocolate chips, chocolate drizzled over it, and a BUNCH of other toppings that made it TO DIE FOR!!!! SO GOOD!
We will also venture over to the Ellen ride....love it for the 45 minutes of air-conditioning it provides us!
For the first time, I will be getting Megan and Tom to accompany me on Mission Space: Green Team!!! I think they will both really enjoy it!!! AND, I really don't think it will get either of them sick!!! YEAH!
We are also taking Megs on Test Track for the first time this year....she now feels the NEED for SPEED!!!!
Once we travel over to World Showcase, we will have to hit two of our MUST DOs because we LOVE them SO MUCH.....Donald's Gran Fiesta, and the Maelstrom!!! On our September 2006 trip, we rode both of these so many times in a row (it was so uncrowded) that I lost count...and yes, even my little two-almost three year old, LOVED the Maelstrom!
Hopefully, we will stop for one of these along our way too!
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/038.jpg
We hope to get to explore the countries a little more this year....something we have never been able to really do yet. I am hoping in our explorations that we find LOTS of characters (ahem, Mary Poppins and Alice to be exact), and we would like to try out a Kim Possible mission too! One thing we MUST DO that we have NEVER done before is the American Adventure show. I seriously feel like a bad American because we haven't done this yet....I am sure I will need a tissue, because I get all sappy and sentimental when it comes to historical things.
So here is a little recap:
Absolute MUST DOs because they are our FAVORITES:
--Spaceship Earth
--The Seas
--Soarin' (for me...we will see how Megs and Tom feel)
--Gran Fiesta Tour w/Donald
--The Maelstrom
Other Rides/Attractions we will take in:
--Living with the Land Boat Ride
--The Circle of Life Movie (just because we can't seem to get out of that place without Megan asking to go see Timon)
--Journey Into the Imagination ride---to get to the jumping pads!!!
--Universe of Energy w/Ellen---love that A/C!
--Test Track (a first for Megs!)
--Mission Space: Green Team (first for Tom and Megs!)
New to us this year:
--The American Adventure
--Kim Possible Missions
--Test Track (for Megs)
--Mission Space: Green (for Tom and Megs)
DON'Ts/WON'Ts:
--Honey I Shrunk the Audience
--Reflections of China
--Impressions de France
--O Canada!
If we have time, we might try:
--Epcot Character Spot
--Innoventions East and West
--Kidcot Spots if Megan is interested
--a different CS......but that just seems so hard! Yes, we really like SS that much!!! :goodvibes
The one thing we won't be doing this year that greatly upsets Megan is returning to the Akershus Dining Hall to eat with the Princesses. Not only could I not get a ressie for the day we are going, we are also seeing them at the Castle on this trip, and Tom thought that was plenty. (I really don't think he like the food there, so I think he was quite relieved!) BUT, I thought I would share some fond memories of EPCOT visits past when we did stop there to dine with our Princess and her Princesses....it was a fun night!

http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/338.jpg
Hopefully, we will get to finish off the night with Illuminations.....but if Megan is too tired, or dinner goes too long, we will just have to save that for next time!
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/WALTDISNEYWORLD2007272.jpg
So there is our EPCOT list!!!!! I hope you enjoyed looking back at our visits there....I can't wait to add even more memories to that this year!!!!
UP NEXT: Two updates in one day.......I have a surprise!!!
PLUS, put in your requests/votes for the next park to be discussed! Don't wait too long!!!!

That list looks very similar to what we have enjoyed in the past. My kids love the sound pads at the Imagaination Labs too. We have many pictures of them running from pad to pad. We took Doug on Test Track and Soarin at 3 and a half and I was amazed at how much he enjoyed it. You just never know what's going to get them excited! I know how you feel about Soarin -- to me it is Epcot as well.
I hope you are able to find the characters out as you tour Epcot. It seems like everyone else I know has seen them except me (Boy! Do I sound like a teenager or what?!) What a bummer about Akerhus - hopefully seeing the princesses in castle will make up for it in the end.
We've never done any of the night shows with the kids. Until this year, Doug has found fireworks far too much (he has some sensory issues as well). Have you done headphones for Megan - do the sounds bother her?
I was at the OB yesterday (on my birthday too) and things are looking good. My BP is back to normal there (130/80) and even though it's been running a little higher at home - I am still out of the danger zone. My OB agreed that I will probably develop pre-eclampsia at some point but right now I am having zero signs. She wants me to take it as easy as I need to, continue to stay on my at home BP checks, watch for symptoms and come in a minimum of weekly until this kiddo arrives. I hit 32 weeks today, so I am breathing a bit easier about things. I know if things turned south quickly, we'd have a long road ahead -- but 32 weeks in utero is a good start.

Gang, I just wanted to tell you that I am in love....:lovestruc.........:cloud9:!!!! No, I'm not talking about my hubby.....well, okay, I'm in love, and smitten, and on cloud nine with him too (we are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary next week for pete's sake!) BUT, this love is another kind of love........................BAG LOVE!!!!!! :goodvibes:lmao::rotfl: It exists....I know so many of us on here know it, have felt it, and can testify to the power of it. I once fell in love with a Vera called Hipster....she was stylish, compact, classy, and held everything I needed at the time. I thought we were meant to be forever!!!! BUT, then my Baby grew up, and decided she no longer needed her stroller, and I quickly realized, even though I still very much carried a torch for my Hipster, that she would not be up to the challenge for all that I needed to carry in September. It was hard coming to terms with that reality....even harder was trying to figure out what bag would fit the bill, live up to the standard, come somewhere near close to the devotion I felt for that beloved bag. Then, I found a sale, prioritized my list, and made a purchase that I hoped would not only be economical, but would also be comparable to my beloved Hipster. If I am being honest, I had my doubts, didn't think it was possible.........
And then there was a knock at my door today, a box waited for me as I opened it up. A BOX FOR ME!!!! The butterflies started spinning in my stomach as I carefully opened the large brown box. And as I opened that ordinary brown box, I saw that inside, a beautiful, delicate, white box was smiling up at me with cheerful green letters scrawled across the top--"Vera Bradley." I giggled...I won't lie...I'm not ashamed...I giggled like a little school girl! I almost didn't want to open the package because it was too pretty.....but of course I did. And inside that pretty white box, was beautiful, crisp white tissue paper sealed with a white Vera Bradley seal. And underneath all that pretty paper, was it.......my new love!!!! It was breathtakingly beautiful....I'm serious...that picture did it no justice whatsoever!!!! I lifted it out ever so carefully...I really didn't want to mess the paper, and examined each inch, every nook and cranny, and my love grew and grew!!!! The outside zippered pocket was a perfect size for my camera, the inside pockets were much larger than I imagined, and the interior fabric was just as pretty and elegant as the exterior. I untied the straps, adjusted them accordingly, and slipped her on......and she fit like a glove, like she was made for me, and I knew in an instance that I was deeply, madly, wholeheartedly in love.....with a BAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now I know what you are thinking, where are the pictures?!?!?!??!?! I immediately ran to get my camera to take a million pictures for you all to capture her beauty, and quickly realized that would NOT be happening today......the battery was dead!!!!! SO, after a good night's charging, my camera will be ready to go tomorrow, and I will be happy to snap away at the addition to my family, and share her all with you!!!!!!! (And the cute little matching ID pouch that I purchased with her too!!!)
BUT, I had to share my LOVE with you!!!! Here's some pixie dust for all those out there that are still searching for their BAG-mate in life!!!! :wizard:

Yay! I was going to vote either Epcot or Animal Kingdom! :thumbsup2
And yes--please keep me posted on which restaurant you choose. It would be fun to run into each other! I can't believe 'Ohana was SOO packed that night. It seems like everyone wanted to eat there our week!!!
I'd love to see a picture--it sounds REALLY cute :goodvibes
I am going to go ahead and put in your vote for the next round to be Animal Kingdom!!!
I will definitely keep you posted on which restaurant we choose!
Just popping into say that I am enjoying your PTR! You daughter sounds very precious!
I bought the VB bucket tote in Peacock and I love it! I got that pattern because it was on sale. I usually go with darker colors but I am just in love with it!
Back to your regularly scheduled post!! :thumbsup2
I am so glad you are reading along....WELCOME!!! I love that pattern too!!! I am so glad that I ordered it...it was such a steal, and it will work out perfectly for me, AND I LOVE THE COLORS!!!!! SO pretty!

I think we will experience EPCOT so differently this year....I am hoping for a great day!!! I too have never run into the characters like others have, so I am hoping to change that luck this year!!! Megan, for whatever reason, allows herself to tolerate fireworks. She covers her ears to protect from the noise, but I think she likes seeing them so much that she wades through it. Illuminations is not our favorite night show, so if we miss it, I don't think we will be too upset.
I am glad to hear your BP is normalizing for now....take it easy....stay out of the heat...drink LOTS of WATER....try to stay off carbonated beverages.....and try to eliminate salty foods as much as possible from your diet. These are just some things I read that can help you make it through the next few weeks!!!! I'm glad you hit 32....let's celebrate as you make it through each passing week!!!! :yay:

I'm sorry...I should have gotten back to you quicker about where it came from.....my bad!!!! I hope you find what you are looking for!
Oh, gosh, no worries hon! :goodvibes
Boy, that was one heck of an update you wrote! A few comments. I love the idea of putting the lotion on her hands so she doesn't have to smell Rome burning. Oddly enough, that's probably my favorite smell on the whole ride, possibly one of my favorite Disney smells in general, but I can see why it would bother her.
I love the pictures of her with the princesses! So pretty!
And I know how you feel about the Imagination Labs after Figment. My son LOVES the jumping pads too! I swear, he must have played in there for a good 15-20 minutes in December. This year, I'm going to let him stay there until he gets bored. :thumbsup2 Burn off that energy, son! :lmao:
Oh, I forgot!
Don't laugh okay?
I am so jealous of you and your Vera.

You made me laugh out loud about being jealous of the Vera....you crack me up!!! BUT, you would have SO totally loved the box and the way it was all packaged....I just KNOW it!!!!

You would love a meal from SS....for the desserts along Jackie.....I know how you love a sweet treat!!!! There is SO much to choose from there! Maybe you can hit it in October....or will you be too full from the F&W?!?!?!?
I am charging the camera tonight so that I can hopefully take some pictures for you all tomorrow!!!! STAY TUNED!!!

I vote for MK.... I always will pick that I guess.
Here is to hoping you have some great character luck at EPCOT. I know we are always super lucky. I think we are because we hit WS early, just as the characters are getting started and the throngs of people have not made it out there yet.

You asked for it, so here it is my dears, our Animal Kingdom Musts, Loves, and DON'TS!!!!!
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/164.jpg
This picture is from our trip last year with my family...waving are my sister Kristi and my Mom, and Tom can be seen reading a map I think off to the left. Megs is probably in the stroller.
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/165.jpg
Ahhh......I want a tree like that in my backyard!!!
This park is the one that our clan has visited the least out of all the WDW parks---we didn't even visit here on our first trip in September 2006.....it got booted in favor of another day in MK!!!! BUT, we do love the ambiance of the AK.....just not the heat!!!! Boy, did they do a good job recreating the sweltering temps of Asia and Africa!!!! :goodvibes
So on with the lists:
Megan's Favorite AK rides: Triceratop Spin and the Safari
Tom's Favorite AK ride: Dinosaur
My Favorite AK ride: Expedition Everest (Nemo is a close second although it is an attraction!)
Without a doubt we will definitely be taking a spin with those lovely green dinosaurs again this year,
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/167.jpg
(Megs and Kris)
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/169.jpg
(Me......you can also see my Mom and Dad behind us)
and we can't miss the Safari!!!
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/177.jpg
(Can you tell how much she likes this ride?!?!?!?!)
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/179.jpg
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/174.jpg
(I will try for face shots this year!!!)
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/189.jpg
(These things are named Tommys I think....awwww....can you tell why I took the picture!?!?!?! I love my Tommy!!!)
The Dinosaur ride, however, may be bypassed......Tom and I both like it, but I think we are willing to skip it since the whole building terrifies Megan. If he really feels like taking a ride, I will gladly take Megs to the Boneyard to play so he can enjoy some Dinosaur fun! Tom will not be accompanying me on EE this year, it upset his motion sickness quite a bit last year, but since Megs is tall enough to ride now, I think she might just take a crack at it with her lovely Mum!!! I hope so......I just think she will LOVE it!!!
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/199.jpg
So our Musts: Triceratop Spin, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and Expedition Everest!
Our Rides/Attractions we LOVE:
These are the other attractions that we really do love, and will try our hardest to make sure we hit:
---Kali River Rapids (We always love to see how wet or not we will get!)
---It's Tough to be a Bug (Again, I will have to employ the lotion on hands smelling trick to get her through the stinky part, but we overall enjoy the show.....and always look forward to the A/C break!!!)
---The NEMO SHOW!!!! I love this show....makes me cry when I see it.....I really hope we can make it to see this amazing spectacle!
We also hope to add some new Loves to our list by trying out two things we have never had a chance to do: The Festival of the Lion King Show (I really can't wait to see this one) and the Wildlife Safari Train (I know it is not much, but I think we will enjoy the train ride and the sights).
OUR DON'TS!!!!!
There are not many, but in AK, we will not be riding Primeval Whirl...I like it, but Megs is not tall enough and Tom can't handle it for sure! We will also be bypassing the Camp Minnie and Mickey area---I love them, but we don't want to absorb a great chunk of park time waiting in long lines to see them when we are going to be seeing them that night at Chef Mickey's. We also usually don't go through the walking trails.....for two reasons really....1. It is SO stinking hot at AK, we don't want to linger out in the heat any longer than necessary, and 2. We are members to our great zoo here in Cincy, so we get to see pretty much the same gang of characters at home as often as we like. We also probably won't be hanging around for the parade....it is a good one, but the massive crowd that it collects overwhelms Megs....it was the reason from our immediate departure from AK during our November 2007 trip....I really don't want to relive that moment....ever.....again.......was.....not.....goo d!!!!!
Now when it comes to food, you all know that I so luckily scored an early ADR at Tusker House that we are SO excited about!!!! :woohoo: We will also be hitting up a CS for lunch while we are there: We won't be eating this
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/196.jpg
That was the honey chicken from the Yak and Yeti CS....it was okay....a little dry.....
BUT we LOVE Flame Tree Barbecue, and since we passed on it last year, I know that it will be calling to us in September!!!! YUMMYYY!!!!
So that will do it for our AK list.........let me know what you want to see next!!!!
ALSO, just some happy side notes.....my ticker now says less than two months....1 month 4 weeks.....it made me do a little dancing!!!! :yay::cool1:
AND, Tom and I will be celebrating our REAL 10 year anniversary on Friday. I am such a lucky gal to have been blessed with such a wonderful hubby!!!! We are still honeymooning after all these years!!! ;):goodvibes To start off our celebrating a little early, he surprised me last night with a small part of my anniversary gift......a Mickey Mouse watch!!!! It is so cute, and so thoughtful. He said that he saw it, got a good deal on it (always the accountant), and knew it was just what I needed for our trip!!!! I love him!!!!

Sounds like you have AK all planned out perfectly.
I REALLY hope Megan rides EE this year! And I hope she's not scared on it.
Flame Tree is a HUGE fav of DH and myself as well. We just can't pass it up! I was actually thinking about trying Yak & Yeti counter service this year but now...you've convinced me we should stick with our trusted FTB! Thanks! :thumbsup2
how sweet of Tom. Hope y'all have a lovely anniversary. And I hope that my DH and I can be just like the two of you in another 7 1/2 years (we've been married for 2 1/2).
Can't wait to see what else Tom has in store for you!

by the way, I can't remember if I told you we had a resort change (and not because I really wanted to, believe me)....we are now going to be at Pop. I was surprised it was open for our dates.
As much as we wanted to stay at the WL, the trip price is double the price of staying Pop. DH was the mature one and said we really should stay value again to save some money. The only reason we were going to stay at WL was for the scenery and the pool. I admit I'm sad that I can't try our their pool, but I'm honestly not worried about the room. We are not in it often enough. And I've never heard anyone say "the beds are SO much more comfortable at the deluxe resorts"....well are they? I find the beds at the values to be pretty darn comfortable.
Well now I'm going on and on, so I'd better stop here.

I find AK such a hard park to plan. Our list is much like yours and I have always struggled to get both Nemo and Lion King in. They are both such awesome shows but such a challenge to fit in! We ended up at Pizzafari the last time and I really feel like we missed something by not doing Flame Tree.
We love the Cincy Zoo too! We were just there last weekend and really feel like we see so many of the animals there that are on the trails at AK.

Your plans for AK sound fantastic. You are going to love Lion King, it is a fun show. My DH and I went to the first showing of Nemo and the Lion King show after lunch Sept. 2008, in order to do both you have to plan the day around their schedule.
Add me to the list of people who like Flame Tree BBQ for lunch.

Stick with Flame Tree....IMO, it is far above what you get from the YY CS. I think we will enjoy our AK day this year....I hope to plan it out so that we can find time to hit the things we really want to see...here's to hoping!!!! :)
Tom is a major sweetie......that's why I love him SO much!!! The key to a happy marriage is to stay friends FIRST!!!! Too many people let small, insignificant things get in the way and blow up to big issues. Remember always what it was that made you love him to begin with....hold that forever in your heart!!! He is my best friend, and I thank God everyday that he blessed me with him for a husband. I truly do....not just today because it is my anniversary!!! ;) I wish for you both as many happy and wonderful years as Tom and I...many, many more!

This update started in my head yesterday afternoon.....it was going to be a sweet surprise for all of you...nothing too big, but a nice, little surprise for me that I was going to share with all of you. And before I could write this update, the afternoon progressed a little more, and something happened that made my sweet surprise look pathetic.....because I received an even BIGGER, AMAZING, WONDERFULLY FANTASTIC SURPRISE that blew it all out of water!!!!!!! And the update grew in my head to this knock-your-socks-off kind of thing, and I was just busting to get on here and share it with you all, but there was just one little itty-bitty thing I needed to do first.....and when I did that thing............................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .......
the surprise went KABLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !
And EXPLODED right in front of my very own eyes....................
and I was left holding on to the bits and pieces of my burst balloon with tears in the corners of my eyes and a lump in my throat............................................ .......
and the only thing I had left was my little sweet surprise, that just didn't seem as sweet any longer.......I was glad to have it, but it seemed bland and ordinary after the letdown of the GIGANTIC SURPRISE, and I decided not to update until I had grieved and mourned my loss.............................................. .............................
:scared1:......................................... ..............................................
:sad1:
:guilty:
:sad2:
Okay, I think I am better..........Would you all like to know what in the world I am talking about now!??!?!?!?!?!?!? Okay, here goes............
Yesterday afternoon after I had finished posting my update about AK, I was in all things Disney mode, so I hopped onto their website and tried again to see if there were any Moderate rooms available for us to switch our ressie to. Again....no luck. (Don't worry, I still have faith that one will open up soon!) BUT, while I was searching, a POP room came up on my results. Wanting to make doubly-sure I could switch my ressie, I went ahead and called the lovely WDW travel company people up. I was connected to the nicest CM, Nicholas, who promptly double-checked for me to see if he could find a Moderate room---Uh Uh---and then he proceeded to switch me over to a preferred POP room. I was very happy.....:woohoo: tickled pink, shall we say? I thought, okay, still not exactly what we want, but it is a nice little sweet surprise to have the resort that we originally wanted anyway. I even thought, if we can't get a Mod (please dear God let that happen though) POP will probably be much better in reference to the buses than ASMO. So I was here :cloud9: for at least the rest of the afternoon. I closed up my computer---big mistake---and spent a lovely afternoon with Megs, my Mom, and my niece and nephew.
Okay, fast-forward to later that evening (5ish), I get a call from my hubby to say that he is taking me out a day early to celebrate our anniversary.....says he is going to take me down to the Levee (a large entertainment/dining/movie facility on the river that we love going to) to have a nice dinner and then go see 'The Hangover'---which we both have been wanting to see pretty badly. SO, I hop on the computer to look up movie times, and decided to check my email too......and then I saw it.......the most wonderful email I may have ever laid eyes on................
From Disney Destinations: "You have received a FREE Resort UPGRADE for your upcoming TRIP!!!!"
AND THAT WAS JUST THE MEMO LINE!!!!!
I was shaking as I opened up the email, and sure enough, Peter Pan was there to tell me that we had received a special pin code that would give us a free resort upgrade to either SSR or OKW if we called with our pin code to pay the balance in full on our trip right away. I was elated!!!!! By this time, Tom had arrived home, and all were so excited.......Megan and I danced around the room for a few moments to show our excitement!!! :dance3::cheer2::yay::woohoo::banana::dance3::chee r2::yay::woohoo: We could not believe our great fortune!!!!!! WHAT A WONDERFUL ANNIVERSARY GIFT Tom and I both thought outloud!!! Once the dancing and squealing ceased, I picked up the phone to call right away.......and then I waited............and waited...........and waited. I finally got a CM, and I blurted out that I had a pin code for a free upgrade. She took my code and told me that she would check for availability at both resorts right away........and then I waited........and then in the midst of our silence, when I think she was beginning to suspect something was up, she stated, "I need to tell you that there is a limited amount of availability on these upgrades." I heard her, but thought, pffffttt, I JUST got this email, you HAVE to still have room available......................................... .................................................. ............................................right? !?!?!?!??!?!
WELL, she came back on and as she said, "I'm sorry, there are no longer any rooms available for your dates," my stomach flip-flopped to the ground, and I thought I was going to pass out. I couldn't believe it........it was like receiving the greatest Christmas gift in the world, and then having it break within the first two minutes of playing with it!!!!!!! I was heartbroken...........I tried to regain my composure and poise, politely thanked her for help, and then got off the phone, completely dejected and soured by the missed opportunity. I looked back at my email to see when I received it, and my heart sank even further..............I got it at 10AM yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1: I had no idea!!!!! I was so busy DISing that I forgot to check my email, and had NO idea that it was there waiting for me all day long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was then that my hubby, the sweetheart that he is, tried to make me feel better by reminding me of our sweet little surprise from the morning that made me like this :cloud9: earlier in the day. It helped.......I picked myself up, dusted myself off, and went out on a FABULOUS date night with him. (BTW, our dinner was EXCELLENT, and the movie----literally the funniest film I may have ever seen....I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it yet---and we topped it off with some delicious ice cream as we watched the river and Cincy skyline from a bench by the Aquarium. IT WAS GREAT!)
The movie did wonders in helping me get over our loss, but I am just a little bummed about it still. I have even already called back to recheck....still no good. BUT, at least we have our sweet, little surprise of our switch to POP to be happy about......for now!!!! ;):goodvibes:lmao: Let's hope that at least a little more pixie dust comes our way and we get to eventually move up to a Moderate of our dreams!!!!!! :wizard: (But hey Uncle Walt, if you want to make it a Deluxe for FREE, we will be happy to oblige!!!!! :rotfl2:)

We actually got it from Cold Stone....we would have normally walked up to Graeter's (BEST ICE CREAM EVER....ANYWHERE....ASK OPRAH), but since we wanted to chill out by the river, we just went through there and then headed to a bench. It was still good!

I TOTALLY agree!!! The sweet lady even tried to console me by telling me not to be too upset, because they only had like 15 rooms to give out, and I should just be happy I received the pin code. They are not preferred, but I enjoy the rooms that face the lake and EPCOT in the 50's and 60's, upper floors. It is great seeing the Epcot ball in the morning as you leave the room, and the fireworks outside your door at night. Even if you do not have a room facing in that direction it is fun to walk over one night and watch the fireworks, without the noise.

NO problem.....DHS coming up tomorrow, and then we can save the best for last...MK!!!!! Thanks MicandMin for that tidbit about the EPCOT fireworks....I had NO idea!!!!!
I KNEW you'd get Pop, I just knew it!!
I'm SO sorry about the Disney letdown though...they should have just kept that email to themselves then! boo!
So sad that we will just be missing each other though!
oh I totally forgot, I wanted to comment on the Hangover.
That was THE best comedy that I've seen in a few YEARS. SERIOUSLY! Sounds like you would agree with me...
I TOTALLY agree with you!!!! I think it may actually be my all-time favorite comedy....and that is seriously saying something!!!!!!

Hooray for HOLLYWOOD!!!!!
I think DHS is such a fun, little interesting park!!! I have enjoyed it since the first time I visited there many years ago...and I think that enjoyment is now starting to rub off onto Miss Megan. I feel like this park has a little something for each member of our family....a little Movie Nostalgia for me, some Animated Friends for Megs, and some of Tom's favorite Action and Adventure characters---Indiana Jones and Star Wars.

http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/078-2.jpg
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/080-2.jpg
The other thing I think we overall enjoy at this park is that there isn't a MASSIVE amount of things that we have to do or a LOT of ground to cover either, so we take our time, enjoy the scenery, and enjoy whatever we see and do in the park. SO, what is it that we do?????
MUSTS
Megan (but really all three of us as well): Her #1 Must DO is Toy Story Mania!!!!

We all love this ride SO much!!! We are actually hoping to not only score a FP to use later in the day, but actually be able to go through the stand-by line without too much wait at least once because we have yet to see it, and I hear it is SO good!!! We shall see!!!
Me: Tower of Terror!!!! I LOVE this ride!!! I am hoping Megan is up to it this year since she is tall enough, but I am not sure she will be brave enough yet!!! Tom can't ride it because of his Motion Sickness, so I REALLY hope I get to at least once!
Tom: Great Movie Ride...I also like this one too...it is just so classic Disney-MGM that it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling!
LOVES
Some of our other loves that we will be sure to hit are the following:
---The Voyage of the Little Mermaid (I never get tired of this, and Megan loves the Under the Sea part!)
---Playhouse Disney Live on Stage (We REALLY like this so much better since they have updated the characters...Megan had no idea who the Bear was the first time she saw it!)
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/349.jpg
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/350.jpg
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/351.jpg
---One Man's Dream (I think EVERYONE should go see this at least once....we love seeing all the memorabilia and the movie always puts a lump in my throat!)
---Beauty and the Beast (Even though Tom would be hesitant to admit this, we ALL like this show...so well done!)
---Star Tours (How do we NOT go on this ride?!?!?!)
---Muppet Vision 3D (Tom and I like remembering this classic from our childhood, and even though Megan doesn't really know them that well, she enjoys the show and thinks it is funny!)
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/082-2.jpg
---Character Meet N Greets!!!! (Some of our favorites are the Cars and the Toy Story Gangs, but Megan will try to take advantage of as many as possible!)
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/360-1.jpg

http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/162.jpg
DON'TS
There are not many here, but they are all don'ts for the same reasons: they will either be too much for Megan or too much for Tom!!! :goodvibes
--Lights! Motors! Action! (This would seriously put my child into a sensory overload coma!!! NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!)
--Sounds Dangerous (Again...way too much sensory stimuli in this one!)
--Rock N Rollercoaster (Although I LOVE this ride, we all will bypass in Sept because Tom would get sick, and Megan is not tall enough yet. I don't mind giving it up this time since I have no one else to ride it with!)
New This Year
I am hoping that we can possibly take in some new things this year while at DHS as well:
---Honey I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set (I think Megan might like climbing around in there)
---Disney Animation Tour (I would LOVE to do this, but it will depend on how well Miss Megs is feeling up to it!)
---Pixar Parade (I think this one looks cute!)
---And not really new, but trying again----FANTASMIC! Megan said that she wants to see it this year, but I am still somewhat holding my breath on that one!!!! We shall see!!!
So that is it for our DHS Musts, Loves, and DON'TS!!!! You all know that means that MK is next....:dance3::yay: I hope you are looking forward to it!!!!
Now....I need some help, I need some info on the busing situation from those of you who have stayed at POP and can give me details about how often the buses are crowded to capacity, what the normal waits are like, etc., etc., etc.!!!! My hubby REALLY wants to know!!!
I will chat with you all soon!!!!!

I took my son last year on TOT. He was 4. He had no idea what it was. We just did on a whim. Sometimes it is better not to explain beforehand.
He told me he did not like the falling, but he liked when people got electrocuted during the storm :rotfl:
He didn't cry. So Meg might surprise you and actually like it :thumbsup2

POP buses really aren't that bad. We always got a seat on the way to parks but on the way back sometimes we didn't. All of the park buses are direct to the parks with no stops, I'm pretty sure the DTD is the only that has stops at water parks. Though I am not 100% sure.

I found the Pop buses to be bearable in September. As with any resort, the bus stops get more crowded around 30 minutes before the park opens. I tried to get my DH there before that time but he was always slow in the morning. I don't believe we had to wait any longer than the 2nd bus load though. Hope that helps!

Well, I doubt there is a cure....because it seems to creep back up from time to time in all of us from one trip to the next, but today, I believe I found at least a good pain killer to treat its' symptoms!!!!!!
But before I tell you what that is, I better give you the whole story....what kind of PTR writer would I be if I skipped that part?!??!?!?! :rotfl:
As you all know, I have been relentlessly calling and trying to switch our value accomodations to something else. I unfortunately just missed out on a Free Upgrade pin code I received in my email a week ago, and last week, was quite disappointed when after many attempts, I was still unable to secure some type of Moderate reservation. My hubby was quite the supportive man through all this...kept reminding me to call back everyday!!!! (I think he was REALLY starting to become quite uneasy with the prospects of having to wait a lot for buses!) So I continued on with my quest this weekend, and still to no avail. This morning, I decided to wait a little later in the morning for my attempt....so around 10:30 EST, I dialed up my pal Mickey, waited on hold for about 4 minutes, and was put through to a very lovely female CM whose name has left me at this point. ANYWAY, I told her that I was making my "daily check-in" call to see if we could move up to a Moderate resort.
She started out by checking CBR (said she always starts in alphabetical order)........holding.....waiting.....NOPE, no availability!
Checking CSR (I was keeping all fingers and toes crossed for this one!).................holding.................wait ing.................NOPE! NO availability!!!
Checking POR (She said she would check that one first since it was bigger and might have better availability!)................................hold ing.......................................waiting. ..........................................NOPE!!!! NO AVAILABILITY AGAIN!!!!
By this point, I was sure today's call would end much like the others. And then she said she would check POFQ.
Checking POFQ.............................................. ..............holding............................. ............................waiting............... .................................................. YES!!!!!!!! THEY HAD AVAILABILITY!!!!!!!!! I almost didn't believe it when she said it!!! She quickly moved our ressie over to POFQ, and that was that!!!! We were no longer going to be staying at POP, but now POFQ!!!!!!!!!!!!! We ended our call, and I got off the phone, and thought about what had just happened................Ahhhhhh....."We are Moved to POFQ," I peacefully thought to myself! :) "WAIT.....WE ARE MOVED TO POFQ!!!!!" :scared1: I don't know ANYTHING about this place!!!!! What if it is worse than staying at POP? The panic quickly filled my stomach and my head, and horrible thoughts started swimming through my brain. I am sure my forehead may have even beaded up with sweat I grew so worried, so fast......what would I do?!?!?!? I knew I needed to QUICKLY look up some info about POFQ FAST!!!! I needed to be prepared when I told Tom our "Good News" so that I could somehow make him feel like this was a good thing. I started looking online, but wanted to find something more real, more concrete....then an idea came to me.....I know, I will call Laura (IluvXU)!!!!! She has stayed there before, she can help me out, and we live in the same area so I can look her up in the phone book!!!! (I know, probably is a very crazy, stalker-like thing to do, but I was feeling desperate!) Well, Laura was happy to hear from me and help me out. She gave me such WONDERFUL insight on the resort and what it is like to stay there, all my fears and questions were relieved and answered!!! (Thanks again SO much Laura!) So, even though Laura is not the cure for Resortitis, she definitely has been the pain relief I needed to help me with my case of it for this year's trip!!!! We also had a lovely chat talking about our girls getting ready to start Kindergarten in the next few weeks---the adjustment of all that and getting ready for UNIFORMS!!!! We are hopefully also going to meet up at KI some time soon so the girls can enjoy the park together!!! It was such a great conversation!!!!
I have done some heavy reading today, and I really am very excited about staying at POFQ......I think it is going to be the perfect fit for our trip this year! I am not even going to call or check anymore to see if any other Mods become available....I want to stay at POFQ!!!!! I am SO looking forward to it!!!!! :yay::woohoo::dance3::cool1: I think I am even becoming smitten with it....:lovestruc NOW, if I could just get these next 48 days to hurry up...that would be GREAT!!!!!! ;) ;)
In some other trip planning news, I have begun going through my old bags and suitcases to pull together more items that needed to be moved to the Disney drawer.....so here is a list of the current residents of said drawer:
--pack of Dove Cleansing Cloths
--2 packs of Wet Wipes
--Small tube of Water Babies Sunscreen
--4 packs of pocket tissues
--5 pack of Purple Neon light-up bracelets
--1 15pc. container of Neon light-up bracelets
--Bathroom Organizer for the shower
--box of Jumbo Ziploc Bags (use for storing costumes in park)
--Small travel umbrella
--Medicine pouch bags
--4 pack of Shout wipes
--8 (2pk) of Ponchos
I need to get one more 2 pk of ponchos from the Dollar Store---I like to have enough to theoretically have one set of ponchos for the three of us for each park day. I am thinking about also getting some other type of hanging bathroom organizer for the sink area at the POFQ since they don't have vanities. I also want to get some Neon Necklaces to go with all the bracelets from the Dollar Store as well. I also need to check my hand-sanitizer stash to make sure that I have enough of the small bottles that go in my clip on grip. So, there will definitely be a pit stop at the Dollar Store today!!!!
I am also going to start scourging the sales at some other stores to start stocking up on some more clothing items for myself and for Tom. (I need a little TK pixie dust here!) He really only needs some more shorts, and possibly another pack of socks. Megan only needs some white socks---for the trip and for school too! I need a BUNCH more....I am a pathetic shopper for myself...for my family, no problem, but for me....YIKES!!!! I just don't go shopping for myself that much. Since I'm not working anymore, I rarely update the wardrobe---I wear nice things that don't tend to wear out as easily---so I don't have to do it that often. I have yet to purchase ANY summer clothes yet though, so my summer stash is looking pretty raggedy. And as I have talked about before, I don't want to look raggedy this year, we are celebrating...I want to look classy!!! SO, I am going to need to do some shopping!!!! I'm just not sure how much of what I need yet....this should be fun...eh?????? So, I am going to start stopping in at my local hotspots to pick up a few things here and there...I will post pics of my finds....wish me luck!!!!
One last thing........this made me just so happy and excited this weekend that I HAD to share!!!!! We often get in mailings and flyers with current DVC incentives.....most of which I look at, think "maybe sometime later," and then dispose of them before Tom has a chance to see. On Saturday, however, Tom got the mail, and on top of the stack was a flyer for the current incentive to buy into DVC. He started reading about it, and then asked me what I knew about the whole purchasing of the DVC thing. I explained to him how it worked, etc., etc., and much to my complete surprise, he said, "We should definitely do this when you go back to work next year!" This was me....:) :scared1: :yay: :woohoo: I got so excited!!!! He then started explaining to me how it would be such a good investment...yeah, like I didn't know that already!!! I am so excited that DVC is going to be in our future...it almost makes me excited to go back to teaching next fall!!!! :goodvibes:lmao:
Just wanted to share!!!! Coming up soon.....THE BIG MK MUSTS, LOVES, and DON'TS!!!!! (Really? A Don't in MK?!?!?!?!)

Totally OT, but have you been to your Disney store lately? Doug's bday is later this week and he has his heart set on a talking Doug the dog. I don't mind making the trek down there if they have some in stock, but otherwise it might not be a good idea with the pregnancy and all. If you haven't been there recently, no biggie -- I'll give them a jingle but I figured it was worth a shot!

Jen, I honestly didn't think it was possible to switch resorts and keep free dining after the free dining booking window was closed. Did you make sure you are still getting free dining? (I can't imagine that a CM would make that switch if it wasn't possible to keep it but just wondering)
I think it's awesome if you were able to switch and still get FD, even after the booking window's closed!

I DO TOO!!!! Thanks for your shared happiness!!!! I can't wait to experience it for myself!!!
We stayed at the Riverside part when it was Dixie Landings, and I remember we enjoyed it much!!!! I can't wait to experience it all! I am looking forward to a leisurely boat ride to DTD from there....I heard it is awesome!
THANK YOU!!!! I am so glad to find so many who enjoy it....I am looking SO forward to it!
Good, it makes me feel so happy to know that so many people enjoy it so much! I can't wait!!! I was thinking of requesting a room in building 4.....what do you think? Are there elevators or stairs only?
Doug the dog---the store does not have any of the smaller 12" ones that talk, but they have these HUGE 3ft. plush ones for like $40. Hope that helps....good luck in your search!!!
us 2....It was Dixie Landings when we stayed there in 98 for our honeymoon :lovestruc
Boat ride was great
I loved Bob Jackson, the piano Player there....he was a hoot :lmao:

I love POFQ. I have waffled between that and Pop many a time, so I'm tickled pink that you're able to stay there. It's a wonderful resort, with wonderful amenities, and I think you'll love it. If you need any more reassurance, I'll be happy to help!
And WOOT on the DVC!!!! I am so considering this for us, but now is not the time. Someday...someday my DVC will come. YAY for Tom thinking it's a good investment!:thumbsup2

What wonderful news, Jen! To make you feel even better, we stayed at POFQ in June 2007 and loved it soooo much we stayed there again in June 2008. It is a beautiful, peaceful, small resort! You really will enjoy your time there!
Woo hoo about DVC! What a great incentive to go back to work once Megan is in elementary school!

We have stayed at POFQ twice and LOVED it. It is such a peaceful, relaxing resort. So unlike POR or Sports. You will love being able to hop on the ferry to DTD, as another option to the bus. Congrats!!!!!
Try JCPenney! All of their clearance is an additional 40% off. SO, most of the summer stuff is clearance! Would love to see what you find!

We stayed in building 4 and LOVED it! It was a perfect location. Our room actually overlooked the food court. I had hoped for a second floor room, but could NOT beat that location! There are elevators but I think there are only one set per building, we only used them on rare occasions.
Thanks for the info on Doug. Guess we might be paying the shipping price from the website...

It is TOTALLY possible!!!! I even have my new confirmation email to prove it.....just in case you were thinking about switching...:rolleyes1

Jen, I looked last night and we were in building five which is great too. Four and five would be my choices since they are on the side of the food court and pool.
Good to talk yesterday, you did not share the DVC portion with me. If you have time you can of course take a tour. You go and tour at SSR, it takes a couple of ours but you get some great FPs too. The girls played in their kid room and had a blast, there were no complaints for going, probably because they had not played all week long. You see mock rooms at BLT and AKV. We also drove over to AKL and AKV to see it first hand- there is a mock room at AKV that we were able to see too, with the real balcony of animals- wow!
If you have questions about this portion--- you can of course call again!

Congratulations on getting a POFQ stay! I love the place, and truly consider it my Disney home away from home. As excited as I am about staying at BWK this trip, I'm really going to miss POFQ. The place is so compact that no matter what building you get, it's never a very far walk.
My last two trips we actually had rooms in some of the furthest buildings away (#1 and #7) and neither were an inconvience. I actually really loved building #7 especially as it was a very quick walk to the bus stop.
If you have any questions about the place just let me know!

hey Jen! Just wanted to give you a head's up since you've been keeping on my pregnancy story. My blood pressure has been going up and last night I was admitted to the hospital. At this point, we are hoping to keep things under control with hospital rest and meds and do the waiting game until something changes and I need to deliver. In the meantime, I amhoping the MK list goes up so I have something magical to read! ;)

I am saying some big prayers for you and your little one. Did they give you the steroid injections last night? You have done a great job getting this far, and I am glad for you that they are going to go ahead and take the baby before your condition worsens. Most OBs declare a baby "full-term" in their eyes at the 36th week, so you are so close to that mark, that I feel very hopeful that you and the baby are going to do very well. I will be praying and thinking of you all day, please check back in here when you can.....I'm not trying to offend anyone, but I want to send you a prayer..."May the Lord shield and protect you and your baby from all injury and harm, and may he wrap you firmly in his wings of protection keeping you safe and healthy." Take care sweetie!

She had a very rough start in the OR with immature lungs - sadly after 34 weeks the steroids aren't all that effective so we had to hope for the best. Jen if I may jump in here for you...
Sorry but she didn't get a free upgrade, she just was able to GET INTO POFQ after it was booked up for a while. (someone must have cancelled) For free dining the rooms tend to get booked up pretty quick and you have to be persistent if you are hoping to find an opening.
She did, however, get a VERY RARE pin code for a free upgrade a while back (to Wilderness Lodge I think?) but she was unable to use it as Disney had only reserved a few rooms with that code but apparently sent it to many more than were reserved, and Jen checked her email too late. :sad1:
Hope that answers your question...and hope you get a pin code or deal of some sort! Good luck!
(ps. Jen you can obviously correct me if I gave invalid info above)

Thank you for reading!!!! WELCOME!!! I just kept calling back to see if there was any availability at POFQ....and then was able to move my ressie over there...and pay the difference in price to jump from a value to a moderate. This was not a free upgrade, but still worth the price for upgrading for sure!!! Are you planning on booking at WL? Or just hoping to be upgraded to there? I hope that helps!

My Nana has (well, it was my dog, but it has mysteriously decided to live at Nana's ;)) a bichon poodle mix, who really looks all bichon. She is the sweetest, most loving little thing ever.
Very, very friendly, very, very lap dog. If you'll allow it, they'll sleep curled up right next to you in bed.
It's a wonderful dog for Megs!
Yay for MIA!!!! :goodvibes

Yes folks, I hope you now have that all-too familiar Christmas song ringing through your ears (sorry!), but here in our household, it has been a most WONDERFUL time of the year!!!! There has been so much going on, that our days have trickled by so quickly, that we are in complete and utter shock and awe that there are only 31 more days to MICKEY'S HOUSE!!!!:dance3::yay:
What exactly has been going on???? Well, let's see, we have added a new puppy addition to our clan, Megan started Kindergarten on Monday, and we are heading into the time of year when Disney planning becomes the topic of almost ALL dinner conversations....heck, almost all and any conversation for that matter!!!! IT IS WONDERFULLY HAPPY around here!!!!!
Now, I know many of you have been sitting by on the edge of your seats to salivate over some cute puppy pictures, so here they are....I won't torture you any longer!!!!
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/010-4.jpg
This is MAX!!!! What's that??!!?!?!?! It was supposed to be Mia?!?!?!?! WELL, we hit a little snag trying to get Mia......we were going to have to wait an extra 3 weeks until she was spayed to pick her up. Then they offered us one of her brothers instead since we could pick him up the next day, and you can only imagine how quickly my little eager 5 yo changed her mind on what type of puppy she wanted....yeah, we are talking like nanoseconds!!!!! SO, it then became MAX per Megan's decision!!!! He is a very sweet little guy, and he INSTANTLY bonded with Megan.......loves to follow her EVERYWHERE, and whimpers at night when she goes to bed, and in the morning when he is awake and she has not yet gotten up yet. They are quite the cute pair!!!
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/013-5.jpg
He is doing fairly well with the adjustment to our home----hasn't quite gotten the hang of the potty training 100% yet, but is making some GREAT progress!!!!! We are so happy to have him.....it is so nice to have a small, warm, furry little guy to snuggle up with at night while watching TV!!!! Our family is so complete!!! While we are gone to WDW, he will be vacationing at my Mom and Dad's house....where he will undoubtedly be spoiled rotten....I hope we won't have "trouble" on our hands when we get home---like wanting to eat too much human junk and not his puppy food, or not wanting to leave "Grandma's!" :goodvibes I am just so glad that we have somewhere safe and special for him to go while we are away!
Monday also ushered in the new school year, and Megan's first day of Kindergarten!!!!
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/015-5.jpg
Boy, was she one EXCITED little girl!!!! It was actually funny on Monday because that day was really only meant to be an Open House, get acquainted with the classroom day....not the real thing yet.
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/017-5.jpg
She was DYING to jump right into the work and fun of Kindergarten, and was SO disappointed that that did not happen on Day One!!!
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm19/megansmom1/020-4.jpg
Tuesday was great though because she was so ready to begin officially!!!! Mommy, however, cried the entire way home......it just hit me in an emotional spot when she turned away to walk into her classroom....my baby is REALLY growing up!!! What a big girl she has become this year!!!! I just can't get over it!!!! I know she is going to have such a great year in Kindergarten, and she is already thoroughly looking forward to her first day in first grade---she can't wait to eat lunch at school!!!! Oh the joys of childhood!!!!
And on top of all that fun and merriment, I have had to try to squeeze Trip Planning into my agenda....not very easy to do!!!!! Here are some expanded plans that I have hashed out along the way:
Daily Touring Itineraries for our first three days---the rest are on their way!
Monday, September 21: Arrive at Port Orleans French Quarter (:lovestruc) at some point in the morning to check in. Now, Megan keeps saying she wants to go to the pool right away, but Tom and I REALLY think she will want to head straight over to Magic Kingdom as soon as we can....we shall see, eh?!?!!?! Once we do get to MK, we are going to head back to Fantasyland first. Our darling angel requested that the first ride she rides on the entire trip be IASW!!!! It makes me smile each time she tells me this because it reminds me so much of all the times we rode this ride during our first trip down there together! After that ride, we will continue to tour as much of the park as possible for the rest of the night---Tom running for FP if any are available. We will eat at a CS for dinner...the closest thing to us once we get hungry. We will skip Spectro and Wishes this night in favor of hitting the rides---we will save for later! Park is open until 9pm.
Tuesday, September 22: Depart for Animal Kingdom around 7:30ish so that we can get there in time to check in for our 8:35am ressie at Tusker House. At park opening, Tom will run to get a FP for the Safari. When we are finished with breakfast and the characters, we will then head to It's Tough to be a BUG! We will then check out the tree, and then head over to pick up a FP for Kali Rapids, before heading over to Nemo and Dinoland. We are going to try to take in the 11:15am Nemo show, so if we have enough time before that show, we will head to Dinoland for our spin with the Triceratops!!! If time allows, we will also browse through Dinoland. Then, take in Nemo. After all our fun is done on that side of the park, we will head towards Flame Tree Barbecue for lunch. We will then meander over to Camp Minnie-Mickey to take in an afternoon showing of FOTLK for the first time...I am thinking either the 1pm or 2:30pm showing. Once we are done touring in that neck of the woods, we will head back to Africa to do the Safari with our FPs, then the Wildlife Express Train tour, browse through the animal trails, and also take in Kali River Rapids with our FP towards the end of our day at AK. Megan is currently against riding EE---but this changes on a daily basis--so we will just have to wait and see if we can squeeze that one into the agenda once we get there....I hope so!!!! BUT, I am not going to force her on it if she doesn't want to do it. I doubt we will catch that parade---we have had bad experiences with the crowds for that one in the past, and don't want to repeat that mistake again! Once we are finished with our tour, we will head back to POFQ for naps/swimming until it is time to head towards the Contemporary for our 8:10pm dinner ressie at Chef Mickey's!!!
Wednesday, September 23rd: We will depart from POFQ around 8am to head to EPCOT for rope drop. We will ride Spaceship Earth first, and then head to the Seas---on our way there, Tom will run to get FP for Soarin'. We will take in the Nemo ride and Turtle Talk w/Crush while visiting all the aquarium has to offer.....especially the manatees!!! Love those guys!!! Then depending on the time of our Soarin' return time, we will either head over to The Land or the Imagination Pavilion---our list of to do's at each: The Land---Soarin' and the Circle of Life Movie (Megan loves that thing!) Imagination Pavilion---the Figment ride and the Imagination Labs!!! Once we are done with all of that, we will head over to the other side of FW....we will get a FP for either TT or MS GREEN--depending on which one has the longest wait---and then will ride the other one. We will probably also take in the Universe of Energy--we will probably be needing a good A/C break by this point! We will have lunch at a nearby CS whenever we get hungry.....it will probably be Sunshine Seasons though...love the variety of this place!!! We will then head to WS to take in the following: Mexico--Donald Ride, Norway--Maelstrom, USA--American Adventure. We are also hoping to spy some great character meet and greets, as well as possibly do a Kim Possible Mission. Our dinner plans are varied...we have a 5:20 ressie at Kona Cafe, a 7:15 ressie at Captain's Grille, and Tom also threw in the idea pot that he wants to go to ESPN Zone to eat and watch some baseball.......this will be worked out soon......I wonder what our plans will be?!?!?!?!?!?! If we have a chance for a break either in the middle or at the end of the day, we will be swimming!!!!
OKAY, so there is the first three days expanded lists for you to gnaw on a bit. I have the other days written out as well, but will save them for the next update....need to get ready to take my baby to Kindergarten!!!! I will be back again updating really soon----looking forward to "chatting" with you all really soon!!!!

oh wow...SO much excitement in the hizzy! :rotfl:
That little Max is the cutest thing ever!! I love him! SO glad Megan is loving her new puppy. And what wonderful parents you have! Taking care of a puppy is a big deal and they are great to watch him for the week. Did you get him some puppy pads yet? You should try and train him to use those inside so that he won't go on your floor when he has an "accident" inside. Then you can bring some to your parents' house when you go on the trip, and they won't have to worry so much.
And doesn't Megan just look CUTE in her school uniform! Your baby is indeed growing up but she is SO smart and SO sweet and you have a lot to be thankful for. So glad she seems to be enjoying Kindergarten so far
"as well as possibly do a Kim Possible Mission."
this made me giggle a little... You know you can get a "fastpass" for this right? It doesn't take away from being able to get another fastpass for a ride though--another words, it's a completely separate system from the regular ride/attraction fast passes.
LOVE your plans. It's making me VERY excited for our trip in only a little over 3 weeks!

Jen,
Hannah loved EE, so maybe Meg's will give it a go. Our problem was we only had enough FPS for her to ride twice.
Plans look good- if you do Character Connection at EPCOT I would highly recommend RD.
We have the same Jumper pattern... to cute. I am sure Monday I will cry again too.
Max is just too cute... I am sure they are best friends already, what a lucky puppy he is to be with you all!

Megan didn't want to leave orientation, but was relieved to hear that she got to go back the next day!!!
Trip planning is SO much fun!!! I was thinking I was getting a real handle on this trip, and then my lovely hubby started poking through my trip notebook....yes, he has made comments, yes, he wants to make changes, yes, I am frustrated, torn, and confused!!!! BUT, I guess it really just means that I get to do a little more planning!!!!! ;)
COMING UP TOMORROW: More park touring itineraries---although there may be changes upcoming---and MK's MUSTS, LOVES, and DON'TS!!!! (I know, you are actually saying, "How can there be a Don't?!?!?!") Stay tuned for that!!!

Glad to hear your sweet baby is a happy child at school. Makes it nice for everyone. :) She is off an a great adventure, and you'll share it all with her. New things to learn about animals, songs to sing, cute little scribble letters that take more and more shape as the years go by, field trips to all kinds of cool places, programs where she shines on stage, some years with a huge toothless grin.... I could go on, as you know. I did it with three, and in another few years, I'll be starting it all over with grandchildren. It's a wonderful life!
I failed to mention all the times she'll hit you up for money, the mornings you dash back home to pick up homework so that she doesn't get in trouble, the slumber parties that might include some midnight tears for homesick girls, and a few broken hearts in middle school.
But the good far outweighs the bad, I assure you! :thumbsup2
Now let's talk about Max. He would easily be spoiled in our house, so don't blame the 'grands' if they spoil the little guy. He is too cute!

Okay, so on with more park touring planning......with one special note, these plans are the ones that Tom is concerned about, so they may end up being changed, but of course, you will be notified when that occurs!!!
Thursday, September 24: Depart POFQ at 7am to make it to Magic Kingdom for EMH Rope Drop at 8am. Head straight to Fantasyland and tour through EMH and a little beyond that. Head to Toontown Fair for its' Rope Drop at that designated time. (Does anyone know when this is?) Head straight to Tinkerbell Meet and Greet to see her and the rest of the Fairies!!! Then continue to tour around MK using FP provided by my FP Master, Tom! Lunch will be at the nearest CS once we decide we are hungry. Tour all day and night (we love this place folks) until dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern at 8:40pm. Why such a late dinner ressie???? SO we can depart the park on an empty MAIN STREET!!!!! Ahhhhh.....I can't wait! Go back to POFQ and sleep like babies!!!
Friday, September 25: Depart POFQ at 8am to make it to Rope Drop at Disney Hollywood Studios at 9am. Head straight to TSM---Tom will get FP, and we will hopefully hit the queue for a ride in the Standby line too! Then take in VofLM (9:45), Playhouse Disney (10:30), Toy Story Friends Meet and Greet, One Man's Dream, Magic of Disney Animation (maybe), and the GMR. At some point, Tom will probably head over to get a ToT FP, and then we will have CS for lunch---probably Pizza Planet. Then we will take in the Cars Meet and Greet, Muppets 3D, Star Tours, and possibly the Backlot Tour. At some point we want to give Megs some time to play in the HISA Movie Set, and see one of the afternoon BB shows. If time and Megan permit, we will also watch the Pixar Parade and Indiana Jones show. Our plans right now are to do another CS for dinner, and then Fantasmic at 8pm. Then, head "home" to sleep!
Saturday, September 26: Depart POFQ at 7am to make it to our 8:10am ressie at Crystal Palace. I may then take Megs back to try to stop in at Tink's shop to "Wake Up Tink!" We will see! We will then tour the entire park (MK) using FP, etc. based upon our wishes and desires for what we want to see. Today is going to be "Parade and Fireworks" Day.....we are going to make sure that we see the afternoon parade before we head to our 5:10pm dinner ressie at Tony's Restaurant, and then we want to catch Spectromagic and Wishes this night before the park closes at 10pm.
Sunday, September 27th: "MEGAN'S BIRTHDAY DAY!" This is not her official birthdate--it is actually the 29th--but she keeps referring to this as her BIRTHDAY DAY, so we are going to treat it like it is! We will depart POFQ around 8am to make it to Rope Drop at 9am at Magic Kingdom. We will start touring wherever Megan wants, and will ride only what the Princess requests. At 11ish, we will head towards Cindy's castle to make it to our 11:30am BBB appointment for our Birthday Princess. This will probably set us right up to then get ready to check in for our 1pm lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table!!! EEEK!!!! I AM SO EXCITED!!! The remainder of our day, will be following the directions of one little Birthday Princess!!!! She can ride whatever she wants, eat whatever she wants, and do whatever she wants until she can go no more!!!! We will also have her pick out something that she can take back as treats to her class on her birthday. MK is open until 11pm for EMH....we shall see if we can make it through all of them!!!! This is our last park day, so I know we will all be sad about going back to our hotel this night!!! :guilty::guilty::guilty:
Monday, September 28th: We will load up the "Family Truckster," complete our express check-out and leave our home away from home to head over to the Grand Floridian for our 9:30am breakfast at 1900 Park Fare with Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland. We will fill our bellies, Megs will gaze in wonder at two of her new favorites, and we will sweetly reminisce over the amazing vacation that we just enjoyed!!!! At some point, Tom will drag me kicking and screaming back out to the "Family Truckster" and drive us home........I think I will need a valium!!!! ;);):rotfl::rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:
So there is the remainder of our extended plans....for the time being....before Tom makes me change them....or something new and better pops up on my daily visits to the online dining reservation site.....or I just change my mind.....whatever comes first!!!!
Tom's concern over the plans for Thursday and Friday is that those parks are going to be too crowded to enjoy, but I then again remind him it is SEPTEMBER.....we will just see.....I think he wants to flip flop them, but that will mean no Fantasmic....so we will see what it ends up being!
These plans may also change slightly when we are down there to allow us time to come back for naps and swim breaks. Tom and Megs say they don't care if we stay at the parks all day, but this wise Momma, thinks that may just be too much for a whole week. We shall see..........
In my next update: THE MK MUSTS, LOVES, and DON'TS!!!!!

Jen, I meant to ask you this yesterday, but I must have gotten distracted.
Sorry I didn't quote your last post about AK but you said at 8:35 you had a ressie at Tusker House, and then you said Tom was going to make a fast pass run at park opening...so does that mean he will leave the restaurant for a few minutes to get y'all some fast passes? As far as Toontown goes I would be there by 9:45am they are known to do the rope drop around that time...maybe even a little earlier so you're closer to the front of the line to get to the faries...I have done this twice and never have had to wait more than 20 minutes to see them!!!

I second JenJolt on the Tink. Better to wait 15 -20 minutes before they open than 90 after it opens.

Hi Jen! What fantastic plans that you have laid out for your trip!!!
Megan will have a great trip!
And, I probably don't need to tell you this, but Max is the name of Goofy's son!! SO, I think that Max is an appropriate name for a Disney lovin family. ;)

I am so far behind and have just been skimming your report but the plans look great and I can't believe you are already under the one month mark. Glad to hear that Megan is loving kindergarten! We send Doug off to his first day on Friday. It's so hard to believe we are there already. My how time flies!!
Max is so stinkin adorable, I could just eat him up!!!

That's actually not a bad idea, I never thought of that!
YEP!!! I had told him that I would go run to get it, and he said, "Why? I'm the FASTPASS MASTER!!!!!" :goodvibes He is so proud of his FP prowess!!!! If we aren't done, then at 9am, he will run down to go grab some, and then come back!!! I don't think those two things are too far away from each other.....I will have to go grab my AK map and look!
ooh, neato! Let me know if anyone finds more info about this
I need to go look this back up too!!! I'll let you know if I find anything Cherbear!!! :goodvibes
And tell Tom that Cheri aka Cherbear also says "It's September!!"
I KNOW!!!!! :confused3 What is he thinking?!?!?!?!!? I think he may feel differently about all that worry once we get down there!!!
Your days look great.
How fun for Megan to have her birthday day and do whatever she wants....princess:
Thank you!!!! Miss Megan is DEFINITELY rocking out her inner princess on this trip!!! I feel fortunate that we can do that for her!!! She is one happy little girl!

That is the day we could run into each other----so look for a pretty, pretty princess with two proud parents in tow...that will be us! :goodvibes
Okay---so does Toontown open up at 10am every morning?!?!?!? This is an EMH morning, so I wasn't sure if opened up any earlier. You know I will be planting myself at that rope by 9:45 at the latest!!!! She is so excited to see Tink....we are willing to wait as long as we need to for her, but hopefully if I play my cards right we won't have to wait too long!!!

I have learned from the best.....I hope this works for us too!!!

Thanks sweetie!!! Megan can't WAIT!!! I did know that about Max....we kept thinking she would name him something more obviously Disney, but she was very set on MAX!!!

HEY SWEETIE!!!! I hope you and that new baby doll of yours are doing well!!! It is getting so close that I am now getting into a little panic mode....but not too bad!!!
Megan loves kindergarten....I am sure Doug will too!!! Time has flown much too quickly for my taste....I want the pause button on life!!!
Happy Sunday Morning everyone!!!! I am enjoying quite the peaceful start to my Sunday.....Max woke me up an hour ago to go outside, and so I decided to hop on and DIS now that I am awake!!! Everyone else in the house is peacefully slumbering away still.....even Mr. Max went back to sleep on my feet!
Well, we hit that momentous month mark, and things have been rolling right along......
I was able to go out Thursday and Friday and do some serious shopping for myself!!!! I did some SERIOUS damage at Old Navy....got like 6 shirts and an undershirt tank for only $50. I also hit Lane Bryant and scored 5 pairs of shorts/capris and another cute tank top for only another $50. SO my wardrobe needs are pretty much taken care of, and I think I will look sassy.....or maybe even SNAZZY while down at Mickey's house this year!!!! WOO HOO!!!! I am still going to bring my assortment of Disney shirts to complete the mix, but I am tickled pink with my ensemble selections!!! I still need to get some new undergarments (don't ask me why, but I always buy new ones before I go on vaca?!?!?), but I think I can tackle that without a problem in the next week or so. I have reached the point that I can see the pulling out of suitcases going on in the next couple of days.....you all know I how I LOVE to pack!!!! Here are some of my tops:

I also have one like the argyle one in plain white. There are two other tops that I can't find on the Old Navy site, but are REALLY cute too! To top off all my lovely shopping successes, we returned home yesterday from my godson's birthday bash to find our DISNEY DOCUMENTS in the mail!!!!!! That is one of my FAVORITE things to find in the mailbox....getting them always make me SO happy!!!:dance3:
Coming up this week: MK's MUSTS, LOVES, and DON'Ts, and probably a packing list.....or two!!!! ;)
