We are first time cruisers, Oct. 5 Magic. I am so excited, can you tell? DH is having fun deciding where to snorkel, and I'm having a blast planning our evenings, clothes, etc. Once upon a time, DH and I traveled around the country competing and teaching C&W and swing dancing, partner dancing. We haven't done much in recent years since I have to avoid cigarette smoke, but I'm really hoping we can dance on the cruise. I know there'll be no room for a moving two-step or waltz, but how about some slotted dancing? And the music? Stuff for slow swing (R&B), salsa (latin), cha cha, (a little) hustle? They teach ballroom dancing, where do they do it? Our DD likes to join us for this too, though I know she can't go to the clubs later. Any tips, suggestions much appreciated! Diana

We were on the Oct 2001 cruise and attended the dance lesson that were on the daily schedule which included cha cha and fox trot. They were alot of fun (small group howeveR). The only dancing that we participated in was pop music (we improvised and proceeded to do our swing dancing instead).

Hope this helps

Late at night in the clubs (Rockin Bar D) the crowds thin out and I have see the D.J. take requests for special kinds of dancing. We had D.J. LA and he was great. They pretty much stick to the music the band plays, but after that they will probably take requests. The only drawback is that it would be very late at night.

Thanks for the info. The late night thing may be asking too much from my DH. I'm the night owl, he's usually asleep by 10. Can anyone report on the dancing situation at the Promenade bar? All the Navigators say "dancing music" is offered there, but I don't see that there's anywhere to dance! Diana

I think some of the cruise staff hosts the dancing class, so they must have someone to dance with singles.

Dancind,

There is a small dance floor at the Promenade Lounge, and dance music every night. Whether you want to dance or not will depend on the entertainers they have at the Promenade. Sometimes great dancing (ballroom style), other times more entertainment than dance music. Hope you have a great time.

Thanks for the info on the Promenade lounge. I did notice that some nights said "dancing music" and some did not on the Navigators. Melcal308, please do a search for 10-05 cruise. There's a thread for folks on this cruise to check in. I know there were some other teens. Diana
