The holy land, the happy place… WDW. Whatever you call it, it has been calling me. Rather loudly. :rolleyes1 Hello, I am a Disney World addict and it has been 173 days since I last set foot on property. And it will be another 109 days until I am again. Sigh.

At first I was thinking that I’d explain why I feel this way about WDW- the escape from reality, feeling like a kid again, the great food, great service, tons of fun – but then I realized that if you’re reading this then you already “get it.” And it is so nice to know people who get it. ::yes::

So let’s see. What do you need to know about me? I’m 30-ahem-something. Not married- which is shocking. Seriously once you get to know me you’ll wonder how can someone this great not be taken? :lmao:

Regular WDW visitor with the family as a kid and tons of great memories. Which I’m sure contributes to the obsession today. Took a significant Disney sabbatical for ~15 years from college to 2006. I think I thought I’d outgrown Disney, if you can believe that. But then I was having a hard time, had been jonesing for a Disney visit and had a reason to go (a cousin’s high school band was performing there) and viola the rest is history. Through the course of planning for the first visit in so long I discovered the various websites and podcasts and basically I haven’t looked back.

I hate pictures of myself. Seriously hate them. But I recognize as a TR reader that no pictures = not as much fun.

Sometime in the 80’s
On a boat at the Disney Village (now Downtown Disney)

Dig those shades!

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg34/2xcited2sleep/Vintage%20Disney%20pics/Christine_AliceRabbit.jpg

Ahh… Epcot. I had no idea at the time but it would become my very favorite place in the World.

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg34/2xcited2sleep/Vintage%20Disney%20pics/RussChris_ChinaEpcot.jpg

December 2008 at Osborne Lights. I’m on the left in the blue fleece. The blue fleece I barely took off the entire trip b/c it was SO cold!

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg34/2xcited2sleep/osborne9.jpg

This trip is going to be a little different. Yes, I am leaving my home as a solo traveler but over the course of the trip I will be meeting up with at least four of my favorite DIS’ers and I hope several more. Who will I be meeting, you ask? Well before I tell you, we should go back for a minute.

Picture it, December 2008. I have decided not to purchase DVC and am lamenting my imminent departure from WDW. When what to my wondering eyes does appear but a bounceback offer.

Picture – I find it helps to provide one when I ask you to “picture it.” ;)

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg34/2xcited2sleep/DSC00553.jpg

I loved the Food and Wine festival in October 2008. It was my first experience with it and I had the best time. Now I should tell you that I am hardly a gourmet, have a very unsophisticated palate, and am not a particularly adventurous eater. I do love me some wine, margaritas and grand marnier slushies, however. :rolleyes1

As previously confessed, I am a Disney addict so I have read a lot about the F&W festival. And I’m aware that many feel like the festival has gone downhill with fewer special events, “big names,” exotic food etc. Well, I didn’t notice.

So back to bounceback. I knew I had to come back for F&W. And knew I’d have to stay at Beach Club. You cannot beat access to the International Gateway at F&W time! So I did book for a week. I’d originally booked for only 4-5 days and the operator was very helpful and said “you know, this is a very popular time and it’s always easier to delete dates than to add them. And since you’re booking room only you have practically up to the last minute to make your decision.” Well, color me decided. I booked a whole week.

Then, not sure how this happened but oh so very glad it did, my DIS friends Paula (Iluvcrush) and Jen (JenJolt) decided that they too would visit that week. :yay:

Not too terribly long after that, my friend Heather (Circusgirl) who I’d had the pleasure of meeting on my December trip emailed to say “hey, did you hear there’s another special event?” Well that is just music to my ears. Heather and I had the privilege to participate in the DIS Unplugged’s private Toy Story Mania party in December ’08 and had the best time. This latest event is sponsored by Lou Mongello of the WDW Radio Show (another favorite) and takes place at the Adventurer’s Club. And was scheduled for 2 days before my bounceback reservation. Yup, you guessed it – extended the trip by 2 days and am now up to a 10 day trip!

So currently, my dates are Thursday 9/24 through Saturday 10/3. The Adventurer’s Club event is the first night. I hope to make Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at least once and maybe twice. Jen will be celebrating a birthday while we’re there and I think we’ve agreed upon California Grill for her birthday dinner. And that’s about all I have planned! My ADR window opens on June 26th.

I’m looking forward to counting down and planning with all of you!
Thanks for reading! :upsidedow

You are so cute, I just adore you. I'm so excited for you with a TEN DAY TRIP. TEN DAYS! That is just fabulous! Oh and at the BEACH CLUB! Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabulous. I am just a teensy bit jealous. Just a little. ;)

Okay, I need more details. Where are you eating and are you wearing a costume to MNSSHP? :yay:

So excited to have you here! I am definitely excited for the trip as well. The ADR window opens in ~18 days so it is feeling more real. I have some ideas about where to meet but need lots of input. Which is part of the reason for getting this PTR started! :woohoo:

Not sure about a costume for MNSSHP. I can do a custom t-shirt but not sure about a full on costume. Comfort is key!

You are on the first page! :flower3: Lucky you on the ADR window. You'll have to let me know how it goes. I've heard mixed reviews. Isn't the online ADR tool supposed to open soon? :confused3

I'm excited about the Adventurer's Club event but have to admit that I've never been there so the inside jokes are lost on me. :sad2: But I still aim to make the most of it! ::yes:: I figure any gathering of Disney geeks is sure to be a good time!

Wow to a nursing job at WDW. I dream about working there. Seriously. Unfortunately for me but I think great for the company, they tend to promote from within so would be hard for me to find a position. But never say never! Most days I think I might be happier selling Mickey bars!

Hi! Caitlin is doing such a nice job with her reports. I'm so enjoying them - especially the dining report. She does us "food porn" addicts proud! It looks like you guys had such a nice trip!

Lots of DIS meets happening in Sept. Maybe we will run into eachother. I can tell you based on Caitlin's dining reports that your DH and I seem to share a love of some of the same adult beverages! ;)

Well, we are T-minus 15 days till ADR day so I think it’s time to lay out the tentative plans and get some suggestions/comments. Maybe it is bizarre but I think I like the ADR planning the best. :cool1:

So before I get to the tentative plans, here are some “general principles” I used to try to think about the plan:

* I’m not going commando (in any way, shape or form! :lmao:). I like to take it relatively easy. Don’t generally set an alarm clock on vacation. Not a big breakfast fan anyway. Like afternoon breaks. Total sun worshipper so enjoy time at the pool.

* Totally willing to organize my day around ADRs.

* Food & Wine. Love them both. A LOT. ::yes::

* Completely willing to make a meal of the various food booths. Random thought: think the “gift card” on the wristlet is the best invention EVER. Makes check-out SO easy. And you have no idea how much $ you’re drinking/eating.

* Do not have an extremely adventurous palate. Could eat a cheeseburger and fries a day if only my waist line wouldn’t expand.

* Weakness: booze and carbs :sad2:

* There are no calories on vacation (see above.)

* Willing to make last minute changes if “not feeling it.”

* Love people watching. But only if sitting safely apart with previously mentioned boozy cocktail and observing. When standing in the never-ending line amongst the sea of humanity I tend to start to lose it.

* Not on dining plan. Have TIW card.

Some restaurant must-do’s: Brown Derby, Beaches ‘n Cream (although I hear Hurricane Hannah’s is now the very same burger? :confused3), Chefs de France

Some restaurant likes: Le Cellier, Tutto Italia, Earl of Sandwich, California Grill, Jiko, what am I forgetting??

On my restaurant to try (someday) list: Rose & Crown, Paradiso 37, Plaza, Tony’s, Wave, Kona, Chef Mickey’s ( not for the food!), Sci Fi Diner & The Fountain (quest for the perfect cheeseburger), Yachtsman, Narcooses, Flying Fish, I’m sure I’m forgetting many…

Ok without further ado the tentative plans:

Thursday 9/24
Arrive ~11am
Lunch Beaches ‘n Cream
Welcome to WDW champagne toast, France
?? World Showcase exploring? Pool?
Adventurer’s Club dinner!

Friday, 9/25 (1st day of F&W!!)
Can I stay away from World Showcase? Probably not since I’m right next door!
Afternoon: MK
Hoping for MK TS dinner with friends at either Plaza, LTT, or Tony’s. Are the characters back at LTT?
MNSSHP

Saturday 9/26
Possibly a breakfast or lunch with Julia and her DD Rachael?
Not sure? Worried F&W will be too crowded on the first Saturday?
Maybe dinner at Le Cellier?

Sunday 9/27
AK day
Dinner at California Grill with Jen?

Monday
Lunch: F&W booths or maybe Sci Fi?
Afternoon DHS
Dinner: Brown Derby with Jen and Paula

Tuesday
Chef Mickey’s late breakfast with Jen and Paula
MK? Pool? Downtown Disney? F&W again? Tell you what, a glass of champagne a day does the body good! ;)

Wednesday
Epcot
Lunch: Chef’s with Jen & Paula
Dinner: either F&W booths or maybe Yachtsman with Jen & Paula (if they’ll have me? :flower3:)

Thursday
Pedis at Grand Floridian spa at noon with Jen and Paula
Grand Floridian tea ~2pm
MK
MNSSHP #2 – not sure on dinner?

Friday
??? More F&W probably!
Jen’s b-day dinner at Sanaa with J & P

Saturday
Departure day. BOO!
Not leaving ‘til late afternoon so think will have to say goodbye to World Showcase… my idea of :cloud9:

So you can see this is VERY tentative. What do you think? Suggestions? I need to ride TSM again so think I need to find a morning to head to DHS. And love Mexican so would love to fit in Downtown Disney and Paradiso 37.

What am I missing? I haven't given this nearly enough thought and the deadline is looming! :scared1:

DIS'ers unite! ;)

Thanks for reading :upsidedow

I would suggest DHS on Saturday 9/26 in the morning to ride TSM depending on those breakfast plans. F&W the first day will probably be a zoo.

Danica, my new princess is doing great...I can't believe she's already over a month old.

MEGA!!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I am loving your daily champagne plans.

And I am lusting after your itinerary. There, I said it. I'm jealous of your tentative plans. They look so nice! I honestly don't have any suggestions, I'm so go with the flow about stuff. You're hitting some of my favorites in there, so I think it's great. :thumbsup2

I'm gonna be at that party too:yay: it would be quite amazing to ride PotC with the Famous TarzansKat:thumbsup2

OK C..... 1st of all... you can join us for any and every meal you want!!! Especially Yachtsman! maybe we could get a little 'peek' at you BC digs:rolleyes::rolleyes: while we are at it!!

And ...um Tuesday??? Chef Mickeys bfst??? yeah.. um NOT gonna be a 'late bfst':rotfl: I think we were hoping for the earliest seating (7:30???) since Jen and i will be heading 'off-site' that day. :thumbsup2 We'd be happy to come bounce you outta bed though!!!!:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

Luv the plans.... Really excited about the pedis and tea:cloud9:

I loved the Food and Wine festival in October 2008. It was my first experience with it and I had the best time. Now I should tell you that I am hardly a gourmet, have a very unsophisticated palate, and am not a particularly adventurous eater. I do love me some wine, margaritas and grand marnier slushies, however. :rolleyes1

As previously confessed, I am a Disney addict so I have read a lot about the F&W festival. And I’m aware that many feel like the festival has gone downhill with fewer special events, “big names,” exotic food etc. Well, I didn’t notice.

We LOVE what you said and can't wait for more!:goodvibes

You're getting pedis?! I'm so jealous... a day at the spa sounds so wonnnnnnderful!

Ok. I think I know what I'm gonna do. No I don't. I'm just gonna type as I think.

Wed 9/23- arrival. Dinner @ Akershus w/princesses.
Thur 9/24-MK Day. Bkfst @ Poly/Ohana w/Stitch OR Crystal Palace. Dinner @ Cosmic Ray's
Fri 9/25-MNSSHP Day w/breakfast @ Cape May w/Characters!! Join us there instead? 9ish? Then we're goin' golfin' and back to POP to swim before MNSSHP. Dinner for us will be at Pecos Bill's probably.
Sat 9/26-Epcot Day. Table service @ Garden Grill w/characters OR Poly/O'hana. Can't decide!!!!!!!

I'm freakin' out here. ADR day is in 15 days! AAAAAHHHH!

Your plans look great. I'd love to join you at Cape May on Fri 9/25. 9-ish is perfect (ahem P & J :rolleyes1). And looking forward to MNSSHP- we'll definitely have to catch up there too. Are you wearing a costume? ;) Is Rachael?

Go with the flow as you say! ::yes:: I could probably go between the pool (pleasenorain!)and World Showcase every day and be perfectly happy!

We'll be going back Sept 24- Oct1 this year too. I havent had a chance to read your whole pretrippie report yet but where is the meet on the 24th? Can you still sign up for it? TIA for any info . Hi!

It's nice to "see" you again. Wasn't the Dec trip so fun? Although it definitely stinks to be sick in the World. You'd think Disney would have figured out how to prevent that by now!

The Adventurer's Club dinner is part of the larger Everest Adventurers Weekend and is "sponsored" by the WDW Radio Show. You had to either book your travel through their affiliated travel agency or buy a separate ticket to attend the dinner on Thursday night. I believe it is now sold out. BUT I do think there are other formal and informal meets scheduled for throughout the remainder of the weekend. For example a bunch of us are thinking about the MNSSHP on Fri 9/25 and I think Lou Mongello will be having his "meet of the month" that weekend probably associated with Food & Wine. I think there is also a race that weekend? :confused3 Probably the best place for more info is to go to the WDW radio show site. I'll post more here if/when I hear about it. :goodvibes

I do know they aren't serving alcohol. :sad2: I have to be honest and say I'm really going for the social aspects to spend time with Heather, Lynn & Chuck and others. I've actually never been to the AC before so any inside jokes will unfortunately be lost on me.

What better way to spend your time on a cloudy Sunday afternoon than thinking Disney thoughts? :confused3

DVC
As some of you may know, I recently tried to purchase a DVC contract on the resale market. Emphasis on tried. :headache: I had thought that the price was almost too good to be true and apparently it was. Disney decided to buy it back themselves. So as much as I was freaking out at the possibility of such a big purchase and worried that I was “wasting” my hard-earned $ and making a big mistake in this economy (I could just hear Suze Ormon preaching to me in my head!) now that it was squashed (for now anyway) I am very sad and certain that I “need” DVC. Funny how that works.

But now I’m waffling on the home resort. The contract I tried to get was Beach Club. Mostly for food & wine. Because I can see myself going back there year after year and if I do there is no other place to stay. :snooty: But then I look at the prices and I can get OKW for so much cheaper. And I loved OKW in 2006. But if OKW was my home resort would I ever be able to score Beach Club in October? :confused3

Oh, the drama! Believe me, I count myself as lucky that I can even entertain such thoughts!

Eat to the Beat

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy (Fri 9/25 thru Sun 9/27), Richard Marx (Mon & Tues) and Starship (Wed thru Fri) will all be at F&W while I’m there. Trying to determine which, if any, I want to go see. Now by “see,” I mean to plan to be in the vicinity of the stage to enjoy the music but not be “stuck” in the theatre. I need to maintain close proximity to the beverage stations. :rotfl:

Any opinions on these? Of the 3 I’m leaning toward BBVD.

Playing Dress-Up

Two MNSSHPs. That’s right two. And part of me is thinking that maybe I want a costume. Nothing too fancy, mind you. And I reserve the right to fall back on a t-shirt and shorts. Maybe I’ll go check out the DISign boards for some t-shirt inspiration.

ADRs

I’d really like to fit in Sci Fi diner for lunch- I know. Hardly a food destination. But I am on a quest for the best burger in WDW and I hear this could be a contender. Opinions? But where to fit it in? Maybe on Brown Derby dinner day? I’m only having a salad for dinner at BD (plus rolls and grapefruit cake!) so maybe I could have a heavier lunch.

I heard a review of the new Paradiso 37 restaurant and in addition to loving tequila, I’d really love to check it out. But when?

I’d been thinking Le Cellier for dinner on Saturday but not sure I’ll keep it now that am also doing Yachtsman. Plus would like more time at the F&W booths or maybe Tutto. Or maybe R&C during Illuminations. Although the DIS addict in me is saying “are you nuts for not even trying to get Le Cellier? Do you know how hard those ADRs are to get??” What do you think?

Argh. pirate: Too many restaurants and too little time.

Some revised plans:

Thursday 9/24:
Arrive ~11am
Lunch Beaches ‘n Cream. Stop #1 on the quest for the best burger in the World.
Welcome to WDW champagne toast, France :cloud9:
A little World Showcase exploring.
Downtown Disney – the perfect margarita from the margarita stand and shopping at Tren-D! Does anyone know if you can send packages back to the resort from Downtown Disney or is that just at the parks?
Adventurer’s Club dinner!
Maybe hit the tequila bar at Paradiso 37? Or a pop rocks martini at Fulton’s? Or a beer at Raglan Road? You can see what is on my mind. :rolleyes1

Friday, 9/25 (1st day of F&W!!)
Can I stay away from World Showcase? Probably not since I’m right next door! I feel compelled to check it out on behalf of my fellow DISers. And hopefully will be able to post some live updates!
Afternoon: MK
Hoping for MK TS dinner with friends at either Plaza, LTT, or Tony’s. Are the characters back at LTT?
MNSSHP #1

Saturday 9/26- need help with this whole day
Worried F&W will be too crowded on the first Saturday?
Maybe a pool day if the weather is nice?
Thinking about maybe a massage at Mandara Spa?
Maybe dinner at Le Cellier? F&W booths? Tutto? Rose & Crown? Or maybe just the fish and chips stand. I just don’t know… help!!!!

Sunday 9/27
AK day
Lunch - brave Y&Y or stick to counter-service? What do you think??
Dinner at California Grill with Jen in time for Wishes. How romantic. ;)

Monday- Paula arrives!
DHS for as close to opening as I can get. Hello, Toy Story Mania!
Early Lunch: Sci Fi
Maybe a pool break back at Beach Club
Dinner: Brown Derby
There is not a Fantasmic this night so maybe over to the Boardwalk or into Epcot for Illuminations?

Tuesday
Free day to do whatever. Epcot? Pool? Back to AK? MK?
 Good thing I’ve narrowed it down!

Wednesday
Epcot
Lunch: Chef’s with Jen & Paula
Dinner: Yachtsman with Jen & Paula . I hope I’m not too full from lunch!
Illuminations

Thursday
Breakfast at Chef Mickey’s- not too early! ;)
Pedis at Grand Floridian spa at noon
Grand Floridian tea ~2pm
MK
MNSSHP #2 – not sure on dinner?? Maybe Pecos Bills? Can’t have a trip to WDW without hitting the fixings bar!

Friday
??? More F&W probably!
Return to Animal Kingdom Lodge - :cloud9: Drinks at Victoria Falls. Browse in the gift shop. Check out the animals w/ night vision goggles.
Jen’s b-day dinner at Sanaa. Has anyone eaten there? Or checked out the menu? I don't know what to order? And yes, this is a question I need to figure out 90 days before my trip. :rotfl:

OMG- I'm almost 90 days out. I'm almost in double digits! :yay:

Saturday
Departure day. BOO!
Not leaving ‘til late afternoon so think will have to say goodbye to World Showcase… my idea of :cloud9:. Definitely requires a farewell toast to WDW!

Still not totally happy with the plans. Thank goodness I still have 11 more days to refine them!

Pop Rocks Martini, eh? That sounds FABULOUS. I want one of those.

Is there anyone here who can convince me that Jay and I should try Yachtsman? We've canceled something like three times over the years mainly because we have so many great steakhouses in our area of the world that we have a hard time justifying it on vacation in Florida when we want to gorge on seafood.

Tell me all about it ... if you don't mind. :goodvibes

Ignore the temporary hijack, please.

Bendy! Can I call you Bendy? I see your thread on the community board, and I've lurked through some of your reports, but haven't been brave enough to join. Perhaps like Nike says, I should just do it.

I've had a fantastic meal at the Yachstman. I know in the area of the country you're from, you can get a great steak, but I have to tell you, I am not a red meat eater. It's rare that I indulge in steak, but I had a fantastic meal at Yachstman one year and it's stuck out in my mind as probably the best steak I've ever had. Everyone in my party ordered steak and everyone loved it. We were stuffed, and we all got dessert anyway. It was an awesome meal. Apparently, from my limited memory, the steak is prepared with some type of special oak that's indigineous to Florida, so you can't get that particular taste on your steak anywhere else.

And now back to my regular scheduled commentary on 2excited's planning prowess. :happytv:

I highly recommend that you go see BBVD. For those not in the know, that would be Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. I started screaming with joy when I saw you had listed them as being there and then practically cried when I realized I'd miss them by two days. :sad1:

They're awesome, they're awesome live, and I can't recommend them highly enough. :thumbsup2 Plus, if you go, I can live vicariously through you.

See, everyone's happy. ;)

Thank you so much for your input about Yachtsman - that's exactly what I was looking for. Since we're staying at the Beach Club this fall it seems like the perfect time to bite the bullet and pay Yachtsman a visit.

So thanks again and please visit any or all of my threads whenever you'd like - you're always welcome. And thanks Christine for allowing this semi-hijack of your planning thread.

Hi Christine,

I had a chance to briefly meet you and Heather last December before the Toy Story Mania meet. I was there with my daughter, unfortuneately we didnt stay for the whole meet as she was sick. We'll be going back Sept 24- Oct1 this year too. I havent had a chance to read your whole pretrippie report yet but where is the meet on the 24th? Can you still sign up for it? TIA for any info . Looking forward to reading more. :goodvibes

Hey jeminni! It was fun to meet you in December. Sorry your daughter didn't feel well. :sad1:

I had a terrific meal there in 2007. I was at the two-top in the bay window overlooking SAB. The service and experience were elegant. The food was excellent, and I liked the different kinds of bread in the bread basket, and also had dessert even though I was incredibly full. There seems to be a little bit of a bias towards Shula's for the steak experience in the reviews I've absorbed, but Yachtsman was well worth doing. I'm thinking of trying Shula's next, although hesitate a little bit to go to a restaurant I could also experience elsewhere.

Christine -

I'm so sorry about your DVC disappointment!

What a great start on your plans! I have barely begun to map out my strategy - I've got to get a move on! This is my first F&W, so I'm definitely going to emphasize Epcot for the last few days I'm there.

I ended up at the Yacht Club because my TA couldn't ever access the 40% off resort AP code I received to change the part of my ressie that she was holding. I was able to change the first 6 nights on my own reservation (orginally booked as a bounceback) to save $200 plus dollars. By the time the TA called Disney a few times and couldn't accomplish anything (they wouldn't let her use the code on my behalf :sad2:) the code was no longer available at the Poly for the rest of my days. The reservation made through the TA was with a typical small AAA level of discount so suddenly the rest of the stay at the Poly looked very expensive. I should have made just one night with the TA and kept the rest of the days myself, but I never imaged they wouldn't be able to work with a code so was planning on the AP discount for the second part of the trip to come through at some point. I kept just the one night on the package for the Adventurer's Club event, and had her cancel the rest. The available resorts with the 40% code were the GF, AK, WL and the Yacht Club so I decided to go for the Epcot experience. I've always wanted to check out SAB, and September is definitely the time for that benefit. Beaches and Cream here we come! I would have preferred the Beach Club, but it's actually fun to do something I never even thought of trying.

Have you posted on the DVC boards asking your question about being able to get Beach Club in October? From the bit that I do post/lurk over there, I do know Beach Club is a more sought after property, so it might be tricky. But, if Beach Club doesn't work out, you could possibly get in at the Boardwalk which is also just a quick walk...so you've got two choices (if you like the Boardwalk that is!).

I know what you mean about "needing" it. DH and I have good jobs, very stable, but even so, in this economy sometimes I think we are absurd for buying in...but, then I realize VACATIONS are very important to us, so, it's worth the cost right now-and will save us in the long run. :thumbsup2

There's some Fuzzy Disney Math for ya. :teacher: ;)

Your plans look really, really great. From LL's review on Rose & Crown it makes me want to try it-and having an Illuminations view to come with it...:cloud9:

I think it would be okay to skip Le Cellier on one trip, you will be eating at some great places so I think it would be okay. I know though, it's hard to by pass that one for me too.

Pop Rocks Martini, eh? That sounds FABULOUS. I want one of those.

I can't recommend Rose & Crown enough, I think you should try to fit that in.

That is a strong recommendation for R&C. Maybe I'll try that for Saturday night. Hmmm...

I want to try the Pop Rocks martini too... although I hear sometimes they run out of Pop Rocks which would be disappointing. The DIS Moms Gone Wild gals recommend bringing your own pop rocks just in case!

I think I probably will skip Le Cellier but it just feels all kinds of wrong!

My money is on Beaches and Cream winning the "Best burger" title! There burger was wonderful! Not to mention the onion rings and ice cream!

Thanks and welcome! It certainly is an early favorite. But I look forward to testing many contenders. ;) Any thoughts on other places to try?

I've eaten at Beaches 'n Cream twice but have never actually had any room left for dessert. May have to change that this time!

I think you should brave it out and try Yak and Yeti...I loved it C!!! It was worth going just for the wonton dessert and I will not be missing that again...P and I are definitely eating there for lunch one day and I can't tell you how excited I am about that LOL!!!!

High quality time... can't wait! I think I may put Y&Y on the list as a tentative and see how I'm feeling. I figure I can always eat at the bar as a solo without an ADR. I mostly want to try the Yak Attack and I know I can get that at the Dawa Bar... which is also on the list to check out! ;) And now you know where my priorities are!

Ignore the temporary hijack, please.

Another endorsement for BBVD. That seals it. Now what kind of dining experience do you recommend? Looks like concert times are 5:45, 7:15 and 8:30. Illuminations is at 9 so I guess sets are only 30 min? :confused3 Do I boogie with a cocktail at 5:45 and then head to dinner with after dinner Illuminations? Or do I do dinner first and then hit BBVD/Illuminations combo? And what dining location best fits with these plans?

Decisions. Decisions.

Alright its a date lady!! We'll meet up Saturday evening and find us a good spot to listen to some good music and I will make sure you don't end up on a pool lounger after you have delighted in all that the WS has to offer ( just kidding LOL) :rotfl:

BTW totally think clowns are freaky too...not sure how I would handle that pool. Ever since I was forced (yes forced) to watch IT as a small child I have had no love for clowns LOL!

I wonder if that's a real problem that CM's have to watch out for. Do you think they patrol the lounge chairs at night to try to prevent it or just let sleeping drunks lie? :confused3

We wondered that, too.

Wouldn't it be fun?! The us all being together part not the drunken passed out part. ;)

Yes to the being together, no to the being passed out part. :rotfl:

Who knew the Animal Kingdom was such a party hotel! I totally missed that when I was there. ;)

:rotfl: :lmao::rotfl2: Yes, it was a surprise to me, too, that my African paradise was also a partying hotel. They were quiet partiers though.

Can't you just picture CP in her tinkerbell shirt skipping down for coffee and running into this guy?! I had no idea there was such a seedy side of Disney - in the deluxe resorts, no less!

He was very nicely dressed -- just still drinking at 6:30 -- my guess is he didn't make it to rope drop that day! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

I'm with you on the clown thing!! I don't mind the real thing but there is something about that pool that is just so :scared:. You know how every now and then you run into like clown art or something like that...I don't like those either. Real = no problem, fake = creepy!

I also feel this way though about anything that is over exaggerated. This may explain why the value resorts don't appeal to me and I could never stay at POFQ (those alligators bug the crap out of me) Frankly, I'm not terribly fond of that dragon pool either (I forget which resort that one is at) I would rather see a real alligator or dragon!

And yes...I have issues! :rotfl2:

Okay, I just have to chime on the creepy clown thing.

The pictures of that pool freak. me. out. Seriously! And I have no issues with clowns. In any way, shape, or form. They don't scare me, and I love the oversize stuff at the values and mods (usually) but some reason that pool gives me the heebity geebies. :lmao:

However, you'd miss some of the cuteness that is the band. :thumbsup2

Think the dragon pool is POFQ too- if that's the one that used to be Dixie Landings. You guys are making me feel so much better on the clown thing... I thought I was being silly!

Hurrah! It's not just me! Boardwalk is such a great location but seriously, they MUST do something about that pool! We should start a petition, a campaign, a sit-in until they change it. ;) I'd suggest a hunger strike but I wouldn't make it 5 minutes.

------------------------

Well, my friends, today is a milestone in trip planning. :confused3 I am officially double digit dancing!

:woohoo::woohoo::dance3::woohoo::woohoo:

No matter what my ticker says. I know others have had issues with their tickers - somehow mine is a day off, I think.

ADR day is a week from tomorrow- or maybe Friday. I can't figure out which one b/c I have a split reservation. A 1 night only then the remaining ressie using a code. The two are linked together but I'm not sure if they'll give me the benefit of the "90 days plus 10" from the 90 days out from the 1 night or if I have to wait to the next day. Does that make sense? Anyone know?

And I see that online ADRs have been released for everyone. I took a quick look last night. The pages seemed slow to load. I think you'd really have to prioritize and go for the most popular first. I'm not sure... I think I may still go the old-fashioned route and call. :confused3 What do you think?

TarzansKat
06-17-2009, 07:01 AM
I couldn't even get into online reservations. Normally, I'm all about the computer / the interent, etc, but I think I'll be calling when it's time to make my ressies. More than likely, I'll use the computer if we don't get something, and then check it daily instead of calling, if that makes sense.

Yes, I remember the lead singer being adorable and some of the other band members were pretty cute, too. Not my type at all, but doesn't mean I can't appreciate the view.

I have surfed around in the system a bit this morning and found it ok with regard to speed, but that was about 9:30 am my time, which is 3:30 am in Florida. So it might be much slower at 7 am in Florida. By the way, at 3:30 am, I would not have been able to make an ADR for 9/15, now this is an option, so it seems that the next day does not become available at midnight.

I guess calling might still be better if you get a good CM. Alternatively you could try to mulit task and do your own ADRs on the computer while you are on the phone, especially if you end up in a queue.

By the way, touringplans.com has in thier blog section a piece on how difficult it is to get ADRs for specific restaurants, this might be good for developing a strategy! Have fun planning!

And double digits is great!!! :cool1:

Your clown fears are totally legit! :rotfl: My DH doesn't even think he'd ever like Cirque because of the creepy clowns! At first he said it was a circus atmsophere, but I told him it's not like a regular circus and we saw a bit of info on it--then he admitted.

It was the clowns.

And the clown side at BW is very weird. The giant orange hair...the spitting out of the mouth...I am surprised they keep it in all honesty since I'm sure there are MANY people tweaked by it!

Makes total sense! I feel pretty similarly. Generally if I can do something myself on the computer and NOT have to talk to a person I'm all for it but in this case I am uneasy. Maybe it's b/c Disney ADRs are too important to monkey around with!

I like the multi-tasking idea. I think that is what I'll try. I just listened to the WDW Today podcast on my way home today. What an interesting show about the lead times required for different restaurants. No surprise that Le Cellier requires 90 days but Brown Derby only requires 5?? Do people know what they are missing?! :scared1:

I have ~ a week to finalize ADRs. I think I'm about there. More on that in the next few days. But in the meantime, thought I'd get started on my lists (shout out to Lady Lallie list-maker extraordinaire ). Through a combo of DIS TRs I decided to compile lists of must-do's, never-dones and would like to do's.

So, here is the Magic Kingdom. What do you think?? Have I missed anything?

MUST-DO’S
*Shopping along Main Street
*Dole Whip
*Pirates
*Jungle Cruise
*Carousel of Progress
*Tomorrowland Transit Authority
*Haunted Mansion

NEVER DONE:
*Tiki Room Under New Management – but I’m hesitant to spoil the perfect memory I have of the original from my Disneyland trip in ‘07
*Stitch – but based on what I’ve read, I don’t think I’m going to fix that
*That rocket ship thing in Tomorrowland where you ride an elevator to get on and then the ships spin in a circle
*El Pirata y el Pericho
*Cosmic Rays
*Columbia Harbour House
*Plaza
*Spectromagic
*The wishing well by the Castle
*The Train (at least not that I remember)
*Teacups... and ain't gonna change that. :sad2:

WOULD LIKE TO DO THIS TRIP (other than the must-do’s):
*Rides at night: Jungle Cruise, Thunder Mountain, Swiss Family Treehouse (supposedly you can get some neat pictures from near the top!), TTA
*Eat at the Plaza (part of my Cheeseburgers in Paradise tour of WDW)
*Spectromagic
*MNSSHP
*Explore Toon Town in more detail
*Fairies?
*Meet some characters! Maybe a character meal?
*Find the wishing well and make a wish!
*Dumbo – haven’t done this since I was a kid!
*Splash – not one of my must do’s but I’d like to do it!
*Hall of Presidents – can’t wait to see the Obama animatronic!
*Mickey’s Philharmagic – did this for the first time in December. LOVED it! And Katie’s story about her DS being so excited that Donald actually flew out of the film still warms my heart. :goodvibes
*Get an ice cream sandwich from the Main St Bakery
*See the Mr. Toad shout out on the Pooh ride
* Peter Pan for sentimental reasons
* Pull the sword from the stone! pirate:
*See the mural inside the building by Tony's (is that too cryptic? Do you know what I mean??)

What do you have on your lists? What have I missed? What are your MK favorites?

Up next, some MK photo favorites and finalizing those ADRs.

I don't even know what to say about the Tiki room. Honestly, I'm not fond of it. I prefer Walt's version much, much, much more than this new one, and the Tiki goddess scared the begeezus out of my DS when he was little so this is a no go for us. I don't even want to tell you to try it once, although I do think you should make your own opinion. But if I had to choose between this and something else, I wouldn't waste your time.

Cosmic Rays has been hit or miss for me, but I have always wanted to try Columbia Harbour House. Unfortunately for me, I forget that they have wierd hours and sometimes close early, so I've never been able to make it there.

The train is fun and relaxing. Without revealing too much, I'll leave it at that.;)

Teacups. A no go for TK, but well loved by DH and my mom. :thumbsup2

I am totally down with the rest of this list, and dying to know how good the cheeseburger is at the Plaza compared to everywhere else. great list!!

For me Wishes, Splash, Peter Pan and BTMRR would be on the must do list!! :goodvibes

on the neverdones, I absoutely agree with TK: the WDW Tiki Room is just sad. It would be ok on its own, but knowing the one in DL I knew what I was missing... :sad2:

Also, I am not fond of Spectro, but I am not a parade person. I can't really see the point of it and somehow I was also underimpressed by its technology. You would think that nearly a decade after the year 2000 (which seemed like the distant future when I was a kid :lmao:) they would be able to have something more impressive. But I guess it is something you have to see at least once! :thumbsup2

Actually I think the Teacups are rather mild as long as you don't also turn the teacup itself. The table rotates rather mildly and is a bit similar to a caroussel. But of course if you are really sensitive, you don't want to spoil your day!

The Astroorbiter is a fun ride, but gets long lines soon, so better do that early in the morning. You have quite a view from up there:

I think I have only three never dones in the MK: the Main Street vehicles (did those in DL and DLRP, but never in WDW), the Barnstormer and the Tomorrowland Speedway. The last one I have no intention of ever trying!!

You need to see Spectro at least once. It makes me so happy. I love the music, I love the floats, I just love everything about it. :cloud9:

I think I must be the only person who likes the Tiki Room. Don't get me wrong...the whole new management thing doesn't really do it for me but that part in the beginning when all the Tiki birds start to sing in harmony I get all warm and fuzzy inside. I also think of Walt's original idea of having a Tiki Bird restaurant and then that gets me thinking of Walt and all the wonderful things he made possible for generations and generations to enjoy. :lovestruc So yeah...I like the Tiki Room.

I think every adult should be obligated to ride Dumbo at least once. I felt most like a kid on that ride. :cloud9:

Those would be pretty much the same for me, although the Carousel of Progress...laugh if you must...tends to put my whole party to sleep.

CoP isn't exactly riveting but for whatever reason I love it. Maybe b/c I can remember it from when I was a kid. And at the time the final scene with the video game and the stove that responds to voice commands seemed so futuristic! Now it just seems sad. But I'm not sure if I want them to update it- if that makes any sense.

Without revealing too much, I'll leave it at that.

Teacups. A no go for TK, but well loved by DH and my mom.

I think I'm going to put the train on my would like to list. I can't even visualize where the other train stations are (other than Main St). :confused3

I am totally down with the rest of this list, and dying to know how good the cheeseburger is at the Plaza compared to everywhere else. I have trouble eating red meat, but for some reason, a good old cheeseburger usually doesn't bother me. Thank goodness. What would we do without cheeseburgres???

I could seriously live on cheeseburgers!

great list!!

For me Wishes, Splash, Peter Pan and BTMRR would be on the must do list!!

on the neverdones, I absoutely agree with TK: the WDW Tiki Room is just sad. It would be ok on its own, but knowing the one in DL I knew what I was missing...

You have quite a view from up there:

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q202/magdalenesch/Sonstiges/Astroorbiter2.jpg

I think I have only three never dones in the MK: the Main Street vehicles (did those in DL and DLRP, but never in WDW), the Barnstormer and the Tomorrowland Speedway. The last one I have no intention of ever trying!!

Oh I think I forgot about BTMRR. I like it but probably not a must do for me.

I LOVE the Tiki Room in DL. :lovestruc

I don't know about the astro orbiter. Your pics are great but I'm guessing based on the angles that the little space ship thing twists and turns you around? It's not just a nice easy ride like Dumbo?

We are down to the wire, friends. It is ADR crunch-time. I believe my ADR window opens on Saturday. In my opinion it should open on Friday, but since I have two separate reservations sounds like that is too complicated for Disney to handle. OK- Saturday is a good day for ADRs.

Here’s my plan:
Set alarm for Saturday morning (a sin, if you ask me. And something I would ONLY do for WDW!)
Brew coffee :surfweb:
Cinnamon rolls (Pillsbury. Not quite Main St bakery but I’ll imagine!)

Tactics:
Planning a "belt and suspender" approach of both the online methodoligy and the telephone.

Here’s what I’m trying to get:
* Friday 9/25- Liberty Tree Tavern Dinner ~5pm – dinner before MNSSHP – hoping friends will be joining me. Otherwise will have a lot of turkey to eat…

* Saturday 9/26- dinner at Rose & Crown. Time TBD. What do you think? Also want to see Big Bad Voodoo Daddy this night. They are playing sets at 5:45, 7:15 and 8:30 and Illuminations is at 9. Early dinner and then concert/Illuminations? Or concert then dinner/Illuminations?

* Sunday 9/27 – dinner at California Grill

* Monday 9/28 – lunch at Sci Fi – still debating this one. Think it’s ok as a solo? Alternative is Tune In Lounge or maybe back to Boardwalk area for lunch.

* Monday 9/28 – dinner at Brown Derby ~6:30pm

* Tuesday 9/29- no plans… as of yet… suggestions? Maybe Kona? Or Flying Fish?

* Wednesday 9/30 - Lunch at Chefs de France ~11:30am

* Wednesday 9/30- dinner at Yachtsman ~6:30pm

* Thursday 10/1 – breakfast at Chef Mickey’s

* Thursday 10/1 – Grand Floridian Tea ~2pm

* Thursday 10/1 – dinner before MNSSHP #2… Wave? Kona? Plaza?

* Friday 10/2 – dinner at Sanaa ~8:30pm

And then it’s back to reality . Boo!!! WHY can't I live in WDW? :confused3

So now is the time. Weigh in. (Ironic phrasing since I will most certainly weigh 300 lbs after this trip.) What do you think? Am I missing anything? Any mistakes? Anything you’d add?

I’m having anxiety about not having Le Cellier and Tutto in rotation. But there are just too many options. Would also really love to fit in Kona somewhere… maybe on Tuesday 9/29 if not a pre MNSSHP option?

----------------

On a separate but vacation-related note, have been investigating the Mandara Spa at the swolphin ever since MickeyNiki's recent report. $220 for a 75 min hot stone massage. :scared: Insert joke here about the services that had better be included for $220. ;)

I think your ADRs look great. I'd suggest concert then dinner/illuminations, I quite enjoyed the dinner/illuminations combo!

I think if you are that panicky about not having Le Cellier and Tutto in there then you should add one of them. You can always change your mind and cancel further down the road. But at least you will have an ADR if you do want to eat there. :thumbsup2

Hi Christine - I'm signing on for your PTR ride. Looks like you and I will be at the "World" at the same time. As a matter of fact, I too moved up my arrival date to enable me to attend the Everest Adventurer's Weekend festivities. It's going to be an amazing time! See ya'there!!

I think a bunch of us from WDW Radio are doing a review together of the F&W on the 25th. Then we're running in the EEC on the 26th with a ticketed party in AK afterwards.

A whole bunch of the restaurants on your list are on mine too - so I'm sure we'll be running into each other. In addition to being on the DDP, I'm also taking in PFTS and a Sweet Sunday. I'll be there until 10/10, so I'm guessng I'll weigh 400 pounds when I get home.

Looking forward to hearing how your ADRs come out.

Okay, the first thing I really like is that you are having cinnamon rolls and coffee Saturday morning. A girl after my own heart!!! :lovestruc

Second, I was pleased with having an earlier dinner at Rose and Crown and then watching Illuminations later on -- so, my vote on that is dinner, concert, Illuminations.

Third, I think you will be fine solo at Sci-Fi -- you should try it -- the ambiance/film clips alone make the place a must-see!

Fourth -- the rest look great -- I want to come, too!

The only suggestion I can offer on your ADRs is this - maybe skip a sit down dinner on the 1st. Every time I've done had afternoon tea at the Garden View Lounge, it's taken a couple hours and I've come away stuffed. It could just be me - I tend to eat like a little piggie at WDW. I usually do the tea before MNSSHP. Then grab something at a CS location during the party (or break into my candy stash)

I agree. If you have afternoon tea at the GF you probably won't be hungry enough for dinner shortly thereafter. I'd stick with a light snackeroo during MNSSHP as well, if I were having tea before the Halloween party.

No twists and turns. Just in a circle and up and down control like Dumbo. We didn't do Dumbo so I can't say for sure if its any faster. It certainly is higher, you take an elevator up to the loading platform.

:thumbsup2

Thanks! I loved reading about your dinner/Illuminations experience. That is what inspired the idea. I can't wait! :yay:

I don't know what to do about Le Cellier and/or Tutto. There's just no way I can eat everywhere I'd like to even in 10 days so maybe those have to wait for my next trip...whenever that may be. :rolleyes1

TTFN,
Alisa

Hi Alisa!

:welcome: It's great to meet a fellow Everest Adventurer traveler. Are you attending the Adventurer's Club dinner on Thurs?

:lmao: on weighing 400 lbs when you get home. I am impressed that you will be running the race while you're there. That's awesome! I always say thank goodness for all the walking in WDW otherwise I truly could gain 20 lbs in a week. Seriously!

I look forward to meeting you! :flower3: :upsidedow

Wanna get up early on Saturday to email with me back and forth to ease my ADR angst? :flower3: Just kidding. That's too much to ask of anyone. But hopefully by the time you wake on Sat I will have some ADRs to report.

Any time I plan anything Disney-esque I think of you and MeMom. You both plan the best little celebrations! :goodvibes

But don't get too excited about the cinnamon rolls. I'm popping them out of the can and baking. :rolleyes1

That's a good suggestion. I am a piggie as well. Oink Oink. And there are plenty of MK counter service I would enjoy.

I agree. If you have afternoon tea at the GF you probably won't be hungry enough for dinner shortly thereafter. I'd stick with a light snackeroo during MNSSHP as well, if I were having tea before the Halloween party.

Don't underestimate what I can pack into my tummy but point well taken. ;)

No twists and turns. Just in a circle and up and down control like Dumbo. We didn't do Dumbo so I can't say for sure if its any faster. It certainly is higher, you take an elevator up to the loading platform.

I am wierd when it comes to fruit...I love FRUIT, I like very few things that are made with fruit unless it is a pastry of some type

I loved Spectro but I love any parade or fireworks, they are on my must see everytime list!

No twists and turns? :confused3 I wonder why I've talked myself out of it in the past? Pure height doesn't bother me. But spinning, upside down action etc. is not my cup of tea. Hmmm... this could be a late addtion to the "would like to" list. I can totally see Paula and Jen getting me on this ride... :rolleyes1 :goodvibes

Yep - I'll be at the dinner. :cool1:

I was worried about flight delays causing me to be late for the party. So, I decided to fly in very late on the 23rd.

I'll spend the morning of the 24th at MK. Then head over to DtD...lunch at Raglan Road, lots of shopping, maybe Aerophile, etc. Hoping to hook up with some WDW Radio pals for a drink at Paradiso 37 before we go into the Club.

You're welcome to join us!

It's so fun to see the plan evolve!

Don't worry at all about Sci Fi alone. Last time I went I was introduced to the family already seated in the front of the car as the "back seat driver" and it was just fine. The film clips are great fun, and the atmosphere is worth a visit. I loved my shrimp, artichoke and penne pasta with feta cheese!

If the California Grill ressie is hard to come by, remember that you can walk up and go eat in the lounge/bar area and have the same great view and meal.

I vote concert, then dinner/IllumiNations.

I'm glad you're going to try Saana! I've reserved Jiko for my trip but am thinking of switching.

Your must do list has a nice blend of things on it!

You are right to be concerned about the Tiki Room. Sometimes change isn't good.

During MNSSHP last year, I rode both Dumbo and the Rocket Jets. The lines were non-existent to extremely short, so I took advantage of that to cross them off my not done since childhood list. There was the added fun of people being in costume (I rode on the Rocket Jets alongside a group dressed as Mayonnaise, Mustard and Ketchup) and it was super fun to see the view from up there.

I too recommend Columbia Harbor House and the tuna salad sandwich.

The train is a great foot resting place and it is fun to see the back of BTM. I hop on when I'm tired and want to rest a bit before going on.

I was never a big Spectro fan, but at my last visit I took a spot near Tony's Restaurant where I could see the parade head on and then from the side as it turned the corner, and I really enjoyed it. Watch out for the music - it will stay with you FOREVER.

Is the ice cream sandwich at the Plaza like the one from Sleepy Hollow? My new addictions as of my last trip were both the Sleepy Hollow ice cream sandwich and their hot Mickey waffle with powdered sugar.

Toon Town has great details and jokes. It's a good spot for afternoon wandering.

AS others have already said, the rockets on AstroOrbiter do not wist and turn, but you can make them go up and down and if they go up, they are actually quite tilted as you can seen in the picture. It also goes somewhat fast but not considerably faster than Dumbo, it just appear so as it is higher up. But i was taking pictured with just one hand and that's why they turned out so wobbly. I think it adds a bit of excitement to the pictures :)

The ADRs look good! I would suggest doing concert first than dinner. And I can recommend Flying Fish very much. I had a lovely dinner there and will definitely return! Also I would suggest the Wave before your second MNSHHP. First of all, I would love to read about how you liked it :rotfl: but also because it is in walking distance from the MK, you will be at the party very quickly!

I would have kept you company on Saturday morning (considering that 6 am is noon for me), but unfortunately I will be away this weekend without my computer! :scared:

It is fun to see the plans evolve. I booked this last December and never thought it would get here. Can't believe it's ADR time! :yay:

Thanks for the reassurance on Sci Fi. I think my love of the cheeseburger is stronger than potentially feeling uncomfortable.

Good tip on Cali Grill!

I think concert then dinner/Illuminations is the winner! :thumbsup2

Jiko- that's another one I'm sad to not have in rotation this time. There's just not enough time!

What? Hot mickey waffle w/ powdered sugar?! How do I not know of this?! I must investigate. One of my favorite Disney memories is breakfast on the porch of what is now Tony's, where I always had a waffle w/ powdered sugar, and being able to run off the porch and "attack" the characters as they'd appear on Main St. :cloud9:

PS- no characters were harmed in the course of my childhood breakfasts :rolleyes1

OK. I may give the old Astro Orbiter a go. If I'm feeling brave enough. Or if Paula or Jen make me.

Thanks for the Flying Fish recommendation. I just may do that... I think they have a bar that I could sit at. What did you have there? Did you try the "famous" snapper? That's one of the things I've been eyeing.

Oh and the Wave. Another place I want to try. It's so hard to fit it all in!! Literally and in terms of scheduling! :rotfl:

In breaking trip news, stupid Delta has changed my flights. :headache::headache::headache: Now instead of a nice 2.5 hour direct flight I have to go from CT to Michigan to Orlando and it is a ~ 6 hour extravaganza each way. I am so PO'd. I'm hopeful maybe it will change back? Or do you think I could cancel and get a refund?

When Alaska canceled my flight last December, they allowed me to re-book with them for any other flight at no charge. They would have also refunded the flight if that is what I wanted, since it was their change. I originally had a red-eye and they changed me to a direct flight departing Seattle the morning I was supposed to be arriving in Orlando. Since it takes all day to get there, I changed to the day before so I could be there for the things we had already planned for the first day.

Stupid MF Delta. (use your imagination on the MF :rolleyes1). There is another direct flight that same day but it's full. "Sorry," they say.

Oh they're gonna be sorry.

So as I left it they are trying to see what they can do for me and someone will be calling me in the next 24-48 hours. Of course they made it sound like if I do not answer the phone when they call - anytime over the next 2 days- then all bets are off.

I am so annoyed! I know I should focus and worst coming to worst I am still going to WDW but still.

How horrible!! You might want to try to ask on the transportation board what your best options are. While there is no pixie dust on the transportation board (that's their slogan), they are a bunch of very travelwise persons (lots of them fly all the time for business) and they will be able to advise you on a best strategy. I am a lurker there and find them allways very helpful. However - due to the no pixie dust issue - I would suggest to write a not too emotional email. :goodvibes

You know what? I love it, too! But it puts everyone to sleep, except me. I guess if I have a boatload of cranky adults on my hands, I know where to go. And I agree, I don't want them to change it. It's the same way I feel about the Tiki room. There are so few touches of Walt left in the parks, it's a shame to tamper with them too much.

I think I'm going to put the train on my would like to list. I can't even visualize where the other train stations are (other than Main St). :confused3

I couldn't visualize it either until we did it May. It stops in Toon Town and Frontierland, if that helps.

Tactics:
Planning a "belt and suspender" approach of both the online methodoligy and the telephone.

I am DED over the belt and suspender comment. :rotfl2:

Here’s what I’m trying to get:
* Thursday 10/1 – Grand Floridian Tea ~2pm

* Thursday 10/1 – dinner before MNSSHP #2… Wave? Kona? Plaza?

I'm with everyone else on this one. As someone who's done tea numerous times, let me tell you. It's yummy and extremely filling. I always go with the grand tea, and I love it. So much food, so reasonably priced, and so good. Plus, not only does it come with tea, but a little glass of the bubbly, my dear!

On my last trip, we had a late afternoon tea, and I ended up eating at Casey's for dinner. The hot dog and fries really hit the spot, but it wasn't until much, much, much later that night. I know I wouldn't be able to have tea and a big dinner.

Whew! I was a ways behind...

What do you have on your lists? What have I missed? What are your MK favorites?

My list of favorites are: Space Mountain (refurb), TTA, BTMRR, the teacups, Buzz, Monster Inc Laugh Floor, and the Jungle Cruise. I REALLY like Spectro-I hope you are able to catch it, it's a beautiful parade!

CP, what did you eat at CHH? I'm just interested if you tried other things than I did. I had the fish and chicken combo thing and I didn't like it at all.

Just chiming in ... they make a terrific tuna salad sandwich at Columbia Harbor House ... it's one of the reasons I go there. It's so hard to find a decent tuna sandwich at WDW anymore. I've also heard that the vegetarian sandwich they make ... with hummus, I think, is really good. I may try that the next time we're there.

I have to chime in on CHH. The tuna sandwich and the hummus/brocolli slaw sandwich are YUMM-O!!!!! I don't even like tuna and I like this!! :thumbsup2

I third, fourth, whatever this. It is a lot of food!

Have you ever done breakfast at Chef Mickey's? It looks delish! I want to try it sometime...

I love that you are making your version of the Main Street Cinnamon Rolls on ADR day! :goodvibes My version sounds to be the exact same recipe as yours and CPs! Who wouldlda thought it?

Very glad to hear you got back on direct flights-what a headache!!!!! :sad2:

Delta, I have had so many bad experiences with Delta I finally swore off them. They are so notorious for changes and half the time they never even notify you!

For our January trip we were flying Delta Hartford to Orlando and then later in the week Orlando to Nassau. That flight was a short direct flight to Nassau. They cancelled it completely and had us flying to Atlanta, changing plans and then going on to Nassau. Made a quick flight a half day excursion. I ended up cancelling the whole thing and they did refund my money. I told them this was not what I signed up for, not what I purchased and it no longer fit in my plans. Don't give up. Try for your money back and book Southwest or someone else (you fly out of Hartford right?). We are going Jet Blue out of Boston in August. I loved them when we used them in January. I used SW last August out of Hartford and that was great too. I hope you can come to a good resolution. Flying to MI to get to Orlando? That sucks.

And Kona, fit in Kona! You won't be disappointed!

So I just got it that you had a PTR brewing over here... 12 pages worth! BUT I just read it, all your posts and some of the chit chat so I could catch up!!! SO very cool! Hey, we are staying at the BCV for Christmas! Did I see you say that is where you were? The F & W festival is AWESOME. I can only say $8.00 lobster rolls for a snack credit. That and the margaritas and the champagne, yes, I am with you there! It isn't a surprise that I had no idea there were actually things and stores in the WS pavilions, b/c all I every did was follow the food booths!!! :lmao:

Looking forward to following along. :surfweb:

I have to do ADRs for our Dec trip in August. I am flipping out about the online thing -- I will probably call, too! Curious how it works...

and we have an ADR at Sanaa, so I am looking forward to trying it out and reporting back :thumbsup2

Awww...a woman after my own heart, I'm so not going near any teacups ever ever ever again....spiny is just not my thing...and well we both know how much I love the Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise at night...I love it...one of the best experiences.

OOH...ADR day is coming up so soon...for both of us...I have some to make Sunday and some to make Tuesday. I can't wait!!! Oh now I have to start working on my binder LOL!!! Going to update all my information and go from there!

How do you feel about Astro Orbiter? :rolleyes1 How is HM different at night? Just the queue, I guess. I remember it being super fun last year at MNSSHP.

Why are your ADR days split? Do you have a split reservation? :confused3

How is your binder coming? Are you doing a PTR? popcorn::

Sorry to hear about that. I hope they make it right for you.

We had similar issues with AA about 2 years ago. Ended up 39 hours late to Disney because of changes (not due to weather). We have not flown AA since.

I remember how helpless I felt. I could not control any of it and they really did not even act like they care. Its probably one of the must frusterating situations I have ever dealt with. Just thinking back on it gets my blood pressue elevated.

Ooops, just read you got your direct flights back. Glad it worked out for you. I am through being outraged now.

Thanks for your outrage - even if only minutes worth. ;) What an awful experience with AA! I don't blame you for not having flown with them again. I don't get it. It's not rocket science. Why can't the airlines figure it out. And while we're at it, could someone PULEEZE figure out the security lines? :confused3

Whew! I was a ways behind...

My list of favorites are: Space Mountain (refurb), TTA, BTMRR, the teacups, Buzz, Monster Inc Laugh Floor, and the Jungle Cruise. I REALLY like Spectro-I hope you are able to catch it, it's a beautiful parade!

I have to chime in on CHH. The tuna sandwich and the hummus/brocolli slaw sandwich are YUMM-O!!!!! I don't even like tuna and I like this!!

I third, fourth, whatever this. It is a lot of food!

Hi Brook! I haven't done Chef Mickey's. Am looking forward to a trip first! Will be sure to document it for you! :goodvibes Thanks for the recommendation on CHH- will have to try to fit it in. And Spectro... think I need to see that.

How funny that our cinnamon rolls are the same! ;) Perhaps I'll take some food porn pics to commemorate the occasion. I'm trying to decide. I hear online ADRs open at 6am on Sat and phone at 7. Do I go for 6? It IS Saturday. But I can always take a nap... :rolleyes1

I am thinking about Kona for Tuesday! :thumbsup2 What an awful experience with your flights in January! :headache: Mine have worked out (for now) but it is definitely giving me pause. I've never flown Jet Blue or Southwest but I may have to give them a try!

So this was it. The big day. The day I'd trained for, scoured menus for and revised countless spreadsheets for (how nerdy!!). ADR Saturday. The big dance for DIS'ers.

I was very nervous about the online system but upon hearing that I get the advantage of an hour online - being able to log in at 6am as opposed to calling at 7am - I figured that I'd try the online thing and if it didn't work I'd still be able to call at 7 and wouldn't have wasted any time or let anyone get ahead of me. Who knew this was so competitive! ;)

So I logged in a little before 6am. Put in my resort reservation confirmation number. And viola- it magically opened up my beautiful ADR booking window. Confidence building... maybe this will be ok.

So I had some priorities for this trip. First on the list was California Grill.

No dice. :headache:

The tool lets you search a date range and the only opening it was showing for Cali Grill was for the night I have MNSSHP planned. Frustrated, I moved on. Later I would come back and booked Narcoosee's as a substitution- figuring it is also an MK area resort and also has views of Wishes and pumps in the music. I'll keep trying for Cali but this could be an ok back-up. Have any of you dined there?

Next on the priority list - lunch at Chef's. Check. Dinner at Brown Derby. Check. Dinner at Yachtsman. Yup, that too! Lunch at Sci Fi - cheeseburgers of the World... here I come! Rose & Crown- yes, that too- a little earlier than I wanted so we'll have to eat slow to stretch for Illuminations but I think I can do that! Liberty Tree Tavern for a MNSSHP evening. Chef Mickey's for breakfast. No problem! Plaza in the MK for a farewell lunch - thought it would be nice to say goodbye to the MK with lunch on Main St and then hop over to Epcot and then back to Beach Club to hop on Magical Express.

Then I got to Sanaa. I had heard that it didn't book online but the button to "book your reservations" was there so I tried it. No availability. For the whole week. Weird. But just in case I was able to substitute Jiko, which I love. This way we are at least ensured a drink at Victoria Falls and some night vision animal viewing!

Last on my list is tea at the Grand Floridian, which doesn't book online so I have called for that. All set!

So all in all, I can happily report that I like the online system. The search feature seems to work pretty well - even recognizing my misspelling of Narcoosee's. You put in your desired time and party size and the tool comes back either with that time or some alternate suggestions. Some I got for the exact proposed times others I had to vary by 5-30 minutes. Cracks me up that they can accommodate me at 7:10 but not 7:15 or 6:35 but not 6:30 but who am I to argue? The tool also makes alternate restaurant selections but I'm not sure how "smart" they are. For example, sorry about Cali Grill, how about Sci-Fi? Not exactly in the same league...

As you make the ADR you can enter special dietary restrictions or request a high chair or booster seat. You can gather as many as 10 ADRs at a time in your "cart" and then book them. Your ADRs hold for as long as a 2 hour session while you are planning. I will say that it processed my first 10 ADRs for quite a long time and I was getting pretty nervous. But then it spit out a confirmation page and here I was able to enter in any celebrations for each meal. Your choices of celebrations are: anniversary, birthday, engagement, 1st visit, honeymoon, personal triumph/other, reunion, wedding.

The tool offers you the option of emailing your ADR details to as many email addresses as you want, which I thought was kind of neat. And they are always "waiting for you" in the My Disney vacation section of the website.

So... the final dining line-up is:

Thursday
Special Adventurer's Club dinner

Friday
Liberty Tree Tavern before MNSSHP

Saturday
Rose & Crown - dinner at 7 - Illuminations at 9. Will have to stretch dinner. Don't worry. I'm prepared to sacrifice and have a few cocktails before and after dinner to accommodate. ;)

Sunday
dinner - Narcoosee's - still hoping to get Cali Grill

Monday
lunch at Sci Fi
dinner at Brown Derby

Tuesday
dinner at Kona!

Wed
lunch at Chef's
dinner at Yachtsman

Thurs
breakfast at Chef Mickey's
Tea

Friday
Dinner at Jiko - or Sanaa if we can get it

Saturday
Farewell lunch at Plaza

Congrats on your awesome ADR lineup. You had asked about Narcoossees...

I've eaten at both Narcoossees and CG several times over the past few years. Personally, I prefer Narcoossees. I always get Surf & Turf (substituting scallops for the lobster). And, the Almond Crusted Cheesecake is TO DIE FOR! As an added bonus, the view of Wishes is much better from the waterfront. I hate watching Wishes from high up - it throws the perspective completely off. When I do CG, I usually go early - before it gets crowded.

As a side note, my window opens tomorrow, looks like we may be running into each other a couple times if I get the dates and times I'm looking for.

Interesting thought on the Wishes view. Well, I'm feeling much better about Narcossee's if that's where we go. Hopefully Jen is too. But I'll still keep an eye on Cali Grill.

Good luck tomorrow with your ADRs. What are you hoping for?

-------------

Even though I'd already decided that Le Cellier wouldn't be in the rotation this time as I'd be dining at Yachtsman, I still thought I'd at least see if I could get a ressie there. Nope. No dinners except the day I would be leaving (in the afternoon!). Only 1 lunch was available and that was the day we already had our big Chefs de France plans. It continues to be very popular. As, apparently, is California Grill.

To think that at 6am, 90 days out of a 10 day trip there are literally only 2 openings for ADRs at Le Cellier is astonishing. And only 1 opening for CG!

One podcast I was listening to (can't remember which one) discussed a rumor that the system might be revised such that guests at deluxe hotels get priority. Now as a deluxe snob that sounds great (so long as I'm fortunate enough to indulge my snobbery) but I can't imagine most people will be excited about that. And what about DVC? Who knows... probably just a rumor.

 on the ADRs!! I've read really good reivews of the online system. It actually surprises me considering how poor their websites are! BUT, I'm glad! I will be attempting for our few that we are planning in December.

I hope you are able to snag that CG. I imagine if you keep checking back you will get it eventually.

I read about this on the Dining boards, and also they chatted about it breifly on the DIS Podcast. I wrote Disney an email a while ago about it and they finally replied the other day just asking me to call them...which I still haven't done. I want the REAL scoop. One woman, who is a TiW holder was denied LeCellier when she reserved it with her TiW card, but could get it by reserving without the card. That makes NO sense and is really frustrating to people who have PAID for a discount card. :sad2: All the chatter about Deluxes being given priority wasn't ever confirmed on the threads, so I'll be asking about that when I do call Disney too. I think it's very wrong. The chatter on the threads was saying DVC would be toward the BOTTOM of the list since many of the restaurants give a discount to DVC members. I really hope it's all just a rumor... I don't think anyone staying at a Value, or an TiW holder should recieve less priority!

 on the ADRs!! I've read really good reivews of the online system. It actually surprises me considering how poor their websites are! BUT, I'm glad! I will be attempting for our few that we are planning in December.

I hope you are able to snag that CG. I imagine if you keep checking back you will get it eventually.

Thanks! Although now all these positive remarks for Narcoossee's are giving me pause! :upsidedow

I read about this on the Dining boards, and also they chatted about it breifly on the DIS Podcast. I wrote Disney an email a while ago about it and they finally replied the other day just asking me to call them...which I still haven't done. I want the REAL scoop. Interesting. I have the TIW card too but they didn't ask about that anywhere while booking my ADRs either online or by phone. I usually only present that when the check comes.

I can't believe they would put DVC at the bottom of the list?! :scared: How does that make any sense! :confused3 Please let us know if you talk to Disney and get any scoop.

Interesting thought on the Wishes view. Well, I'm feeling much better about Narcossee's if that's where we go. Hopefully Jen is too. But I'll still keep an eye on Cali Grill.

Good luck tomorrow with your ADRs. What are you hoping for?

I'm just making my list for tomorrow's call... :cool1:

Boma and Cinderella's Royal Table for breakfasts. (I’m resigned to enduring CRT only because I have vowed to eat at every single Signature Restaurant on this trip)

Lunches at Sanaa, The Wave, Kona Café, Coral Reef, Nine Dragons (I'm curious about the changes since the rehab - reviews have been pretty favorable), 50's Prime Time Café, Chefs de France

High Tea at the Garden View Lounge before MNSSHP on 10/6 (it's a tradition)

And finally, dinners at Tusker House, Jiko, Narcoossees, California Grill, Tutto Italia, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Brown Derby, 1900 Park Faire, Artist Point, Rose & Crown, Flying Fish and Citricos

I’m also going to be keeping my eye on what happens with Spoodles (aka Kouzzina). When the F&W booking window opens on 8/11, I'll be trying for PFTS, Sweet Sunday and a Luncheon with Paula Deen.

As you can probably tell, I love my food and drink! :rotfl2:

Oh my! That all sounds so great! Every signature dining experience on this trip?! :worship:

I heard the Deens might be there while we're there but I haven't seen it "in writing." Is there a schedule out somewhere? Can you share a link?

Well I'm looking forward to meeting you at the Adventurer's Club dinner (or beforehand for a little tequila :rolleyes1) and hope to bump into you many times over the course of the trip! I'm getting so excited!! :yay:

but I'm beginning to think that it doesn't suprise me.... They have our $$ already... why would they care if we are PO'd:headache:

It certainly seems like there should be some DVC perks! I hope that piece is just a rumor.

But even so... I still want to buy DVC.

Some of the events are very hard to get into. The past two years in a row, I've missed out on the Sweet Sunday I wanted. But, I suspect that, even if I can't get int the main luncheon, there may be a book signing or cooking demo at the Festival Center. Fingers crossed!

Just a comment on DVC dining discounts ... there are some but they are primarily for lunch and many of them are at the same places that offer AAA discounts. There are no signature dining discounts for DVC members so the argument that we DVC members would be at the bottom of the dining pecking order, so to speak, because of the discounts we receive does not hold water.

Member perks are actually not that great, imho.

I think it would be very difficult for WDW to implement any kind of tiered dining system aside from what they likely already have in place (concierge, CMs, Disney executives) simply because they would be shooting themselves in the foot in regard to the dining plan which is making them a lot of money.

One of the reasons that the F&W pairings during the festival have been so ruthlessly paired back is that they don't want to hold back tables for 30 guests one day per week for F&W when the demand at places like Coral Reef and Le Cellier is so strong. The most popular world showcase restaurants no longer offer the F&W pairings because it didn't make Disney the money that constant table turnover does. It's a shame because they were nice events that didn't cost too much (all things considered) and offered people a chance to sample restaurants that they might not otherwise dine at. Jay and I would never eat at Le Cellier on vacation (better steakhouses on property if we're craving cow flesh) but we did do a F&W pairing there that was very good. Same for Coral Reef - great F&W pairing but we'd never eat an actual meal there because there are so many places that offer much better seafood for close to the same price.

Still ... take the good with the bad. :goodvibes

I kinda went off on a weird tangent there ... it's the medication I'm on; sorry.

This year, I'm gonna be the before ya'll (9/24 - 10/10). So I figure I have a fair shot. LOL! I'm actually kinda glad they might be charging a nominal amount for the food demos and wine tastings - weeds out the riff raff...not unlike myself:lmao: I'm hoping they have tweeked the setup in the Festival Center. I miss the events at the Odyssey, too, but I doubt they'll hold anything there. No chance for an event after-sell, know what I mean? ;)

Too bad our dates won't overlap; we're going to have a heck of a birthday cake party on the night of the 17th ... or so it seems right now.

I do think the San Angel pairing sounds kind of interesting ... we'll probably try for that one just to dine someplace new.

It's that competitive, huh? How many spots are there, say for the demos?

This year, I'm gonna be the before ya'll (9/24 - 10/10). So I figure I have a fair shot. LOL! I don't mind a nominal fee either. I was reading somewhere, maybe on Brenda's thread?, that people would come in, pound the wine/scarf the food and leave before the demo is over. How rude (to quote the little girl from Full House)!!

What don't you like about the Festival Center? I never saw the Odyssey set up. I did think the demo center was a little weird with just the (sorta pathetic) row of potted plants blocking it off.

I do remember my favorite find of last year was in the Festival Ctr (again, I think thanks so someone on Bendy's thread) there was a very good $3-4 glass of prosecco! :thumbsup2

You hit the nail on the head. In years past, you stood in line outside The Odyssey. The first XXX people got in and got seated. It was airconditioned and fairly quiet. Easy to pay attention to the presenters.

Last year, the first time I tried a cooking demo at the Festival Center, I got seated towards the back. A rude couple kept pushing the palm fronds aside on the potted plant so they could lurk - very distracting. Plus, I'm deaf in one ear. With the ambient noise in the building, I couldn't hear a word the speaker said. That was my one and only attempt at a session last year :sad2:

Hopefully, they have addressed some of these issues this year. We'll find out in 90-days!

Congratulations on the ADRs!! Sounds liek you got most of what you wanted!!

One thing about CG: I have read a rumor somewhere that they open those ADRs up only at the real 90 day marks. So keep trying!! Also, if you arrive early and especial for one person, you can ask wether you can eat at the bar. When we checked in for our 5:30 pm ADR at 5:20 there was a single guy who asked wether he could be seated at the bar without an ADR and that was no problem.

I blame my metamorphasis from timid tastebud girl to moderately adventurous matron on the F&W Festival and all the pairings we've done over the years.

Scallops, scotch, weird cheese ... and that 20-pound weight gain ... it's all Epcot's fault! :lmao:

The competition for the pre-paid events is fierce because seating is very limited and they're only offered on one specific day and one specific time. If you want it ... you must call on the first day or risk digestive depression.

They've never taken reservations in advance for the demos or seminars so I don't how they're going to handle it this year if they're charging a fee. I don't see how they can book those in advance because they would have to know the entire festival schedule and I'm sure that they're still working all of that out.

My guess is it will be first come first serve, as in years past, but you will have to pay a $5 fee to attend. During the week you can usually get to the venue about 30 minutes before the event starts, but it depends on how popular the item is. We went to a Banfi seminar last year (Rosa Regale) and barely made it in with 30 minutes to go before it even started. They were giving out line tickets and we ended up being 96 and 97 - 100 is the max for attendance.

They're not that big a deal to Jay and me - last year's wine seminar was the first one we've ever gone to ... usually the times conflict with something else we have planned. But they are interesting and depending on what they're offering you can sometimes get a chance to try some pretty good stuff.

In years past we missed Scotch and Vodka seminars as well as Port and Cognac tastings ... oh, the humanity!!! :lmao:

The problem with holding highly priced, pre-paid events in the Festival Center is that there is no privacy. If you attend a really popular event like we did, there are likely to be people who didn't pay to attend who hover outside the palm wall and peek and listen and talk ... you will have ambient noise from the general traffic in the welcome center ... and the real kitchen where your food is prepared and plated is on the second floor and has to be transported down to the demo area - the food quality at our Kitchen Conversation was dodgy at best.

Not everyone agrees with me, and that's fine, but the Odyssey was a private, intimate setting and it worked much better for these events.

I so wish I was going to be there the same time. Maybe I should just plan to stay for the month of Oct.

The moved it to have more room for the shopping stuff in the welcome center? :confused3 I wonder, do a lot of people buy the wines there? I certainly made notes of some that I wanted to seek out back home but didn't purchase any. Other than one bottle for my room. And it was the funniest thing - they couldn't sell me both a bottle and a corkscrew at the same time. I had to buy in 2 separate transactions. Funny rule... what do they think you're going to do with wine? :confused3

:goodvibes I'm really excited too! And thanks to your diligence as well as Magdalene (Flossbolna) we now have the luxury of choosing between Cali Grill and Narcoossee's. Tough choice!

I'm looking forward to all of it but Wed (Chefs for lunch and Yachtsman for dinner) and Thurs (Chef Mickey's, a bit of park time, a pedicure, GF tea and MNSSHP) are definitely going to be great!

Thanks Julez. I do think the system is pretty cool. I have discovered that they are not just "waiting" for me in My Disney Vacation. I have to enter each confirmation # to retrieve them. That's kind of a pain. And I can't amend them - change the party size; update the celebration -- have to call for that.

But all in all am very pleased! :)

Christine:

I love your PTR. Why didn't I find this sooner. Great ADR's. I wondered why Sanaa didn't come up on the online reservation system. I am so bummed that everyone, I mean EVERYONE is going to Disney the week of Sept 28th and I can't go that week. :guilty: That is so awesome that you are staying at the BC. I am dying to stay there. I really want to try for BCV at 7 months out for a trip in May. If I can't get it in May I am definately going for it in January 2011!

Hi Mary Ellen! So happy to have you here! I have no idea about Sanaa... maybe it is too new? But if Jiko still has openings I have to believe that Sanaa does.

Lots of people are going that week- wish that you were too! :goodvibes

Oh how I love the Beach Club. In fact that may be an update unto itself, "ode to the Beach Club." You will love it!

Hi Jen!

No worries. Not too much has been happening - just the regular run of the mill obsessive Disney planning! I was thinking the same thing as I looked at your plans... not much chance of a meet. :sad1: But you never know!

Sometimes at night I have trouble going to sleep. Trouble turning my brain off from work and other stuff and just getting some rest. So what is my favorite topic to turn my brain toward? Disney planning, of course! My latest game is the ABC's of dining locations I have yet to try.

A - Akershus
B - Biergarten
C - Crystal Palace
D - ?? Something in Dino Land??
E - Enchanted Grove (MK)
F - Flying Fish
G - Goofy's Candy Co (not a restaurant, I know!)
H - Hurricane Hannahs (have eaten here but couldn't think of another)
I - ?? Anyone??
J - Jelly Rolls? Do they serve food there? Jiko - but I have eaten there
K - Kona (eating there this trip!)
L - Liberty Tree Tavern (eating there this trip)
M - Mama Melrose
N - Narcoossee's
O - O'Hana
P - Paradiso 37
Q - ?? Anyone ??
R - Rose & Crown (eating there this trip!)
S - Spoodles
T - Tony's Town Sq (haven't eaten here since I was a kid)
U - ?? Anyone ??
V - Victoria & Alberts
W - Wolfgang Puck Express
X - ?? Anyone ??
Y - Yak & Yeti
Z - ?? Anyone ??

So now that I've played this game in my head so many times I need a new variation. Maybe the ABCs of characters? Drinks? Rides?

Don't tell me I'm the only nut who falls asleep dreaming of Disney!

I am a lucky girl for many reasons. But one specifically that I’m thinking of right now. And that is because of all of the friends who I have met because of this community.

It’s quite amazing when you think of it, really. That so many of us from different parts of the world, stages in life, professions, political affiliations etc. can come together with the love of one thing – WDW. And not just come together, not just help each other with trip planning (although that is SO fun), but share life’s ups and downs, celebrations & sorrows, and the boring day to day. I never would have guessed it was possible. I knew I loved WDW- that’s for sure- but I never dreamed that I would meet some of my very best friends because of it.

And now, I cannot believe my good fortune, but for whatever reason, this little trip I booked back in December 2008 on a bounceback deal has turned into a bit of a mini DIS’er meet. And many – but certainly not all- of my new found DIS family will be in the World at the same time.

So far, I believe the following will be in WDW around the same time and I hope that we can meet (although fully respect personal privacy and promise I am not in any way, shape or form a stalker. ;) )

In no particular order:

Jen (Jenjolt)
Paula (Iluvcrush)
Leslie (Lady Lallie aka LL)
Heather (CircusGirl)
Lynn & Chuck (nts4wdw & constablemickey)
DisneyDeeva
Heidi (mryppns)
Jen (Megansmom)
TK (TarzansKat)
Mary Ellen (MEK) – I think we overlap by maybe a day? I hope!
One Disney Princess & her hubby who may want to do her own reveal :rolleyes1

So sorry if I’m missing anyone in my giddy excitement to get this posted. If I forgot you, please let me know – and accept my apologies! :flower3:

As I said, there are many more DIS friends who are not fortunate enough to be able to travel this fall. I am equally grateful for their friendship and look forward to the new friendships that are forming every day on the DIS.

This board is full of special people; that is for sure! ::yes::

Another rainy day in New England. :sad2: What else to do but Disney planning! Continuing on our tour around the World covering must do's, never done's and want to do's is Epcot!

MUST-DO’S
* Champagne (what else would kick off my list?)

* A lazy afternoon (or ‘noons) touring World Showcase

* Illuminations

* Soarin

* Spaceship Earth (I giggle every time I see the lady with the yellow tights- in fact was considering this as a MNSSHP costume)

* The Land  I’m such a dork. I still miss the song… Listen to the Land.

* American Adventure

NEVER DONE

* Club Cool- but yes, I have heard of Beverly... just in case any of you get any bright ideas. ;)

* Mission Space – the intense side – and I’m not going to either. I wasn’t wild about the mild side. Very close quarters. I got nervous.

* Haven’t eaten at: Rose & Crown, Teppan Edo, Morocco, Norway, 9 Dragons

* Off Kilter. For clarification I mean I haven’t seen them in concert. ;)

* Turtle Talk with Crush

WOULD LIKE TO DO THIS TRIP (other than must do’s):

* Food & Wine festival! I’d like to try more, take more food porn, and report back to my fellow DIS’ers. I’ll be there the first week of F&W and can’t wait. Not sure I’ll do any of the special events. We’ll see. I’m not a foodie or a gourmet. Just like the booze and any fattening food!

* Visa Character meet and greet – it was a long wait when I did it in October but I think the private time you get with the characters is worth it. And since I’ll have DIS buddies with me this time, we have to memorialize the trip with photos!!

* Rose & Crown

* All the movies – I didn’t do them on either of my ’08 trips – just the new Canada movie. I’d like to see the France and China movies again. Not sure about Norway.

* Tequila Bar – rumor has it one is opening in the Mexico pavilion… :rolleyes1

* Kim Possible missions- I can’t wait to be a special agent :thumbsup2

* Off Kilter – I feel like I need to see them to keep my LGMH

* Chefs de France – would really like to go back for lunch. And no… that’s not (entirely) b/c of the cute waiters.

* Henna tattoo in Morocco

You have some great must dos. I highly recommend the Visa Meet and Greet. Honestly, I find the line (even if it's long) to be fairly quick moving, and you're right, that individual time with the characters is priceless, and it's given me some of my best vacation photos.

Also, I love, love, love, getting a henna tattoo, and I haven't done one in a couple of years. Sometimes DH and I will get the mix and I'll do mine at home before I leave, but it's a lot of fun to have it done there. :thumbsup2 I remember hearing (don't know if it's true) that pool water (chlorine) will weaken the dye, so if you do get the henna, plan it accordingly.

Do you mean the Norway movie specifically? I have to say I haven't seen it since the early 90's but have read A LOT about it here on the DIS. Back in 06 ran through b/c was legitimately late for an ADR; in '08 ran through b/c I could. But feel like maybe I should see it? :confused3
