If you want my advise - it's not worth it! We did this last year and will never return for this time of year again!!

The crowds are unbearable, loud, obnoxious and full of drunk french teenagers! They allow alcohol in the park and I'm afraid that my daughter got sat on in her pushchair by a drunk, dad got punched because he couldn't move, and I got elbowed in the face. All because of the scrum of the fireworks. We missed them because some silly CM didn't understand that we wanted to get out of the crowd and led us straight to the hub where it all happened. It took us an hour and a half to get out and I left in tears, it absolutely ruined our day.

Nothing else goes on in the park apart from the fireworks and a normal day (with Fantasyland shutting early to clear the rides) and the rest of the park closes at 1.00am. Sounds great doesn't it, unless you are there! If you are taking kids then don't go. It traumatised my family!

We ate in planet Hollywood at 6.30pm, took ages to be served (and it cost us 100€), missed Fantallusions and couldn't even move through the park to get on a ride.

We are returning this year for nearly a week as it was Dad's first time and he was terribly upset as he'd paid for us all to cry. Not the Disney experience I am always raving about. He wants the true Disney that I love so summer it is :-)

Oh and it snowed and was minus 5!

My friend went a couple of years ago & was glad to say she has been at New Years eve but never again as the crowds are huge, rides times are really bad too.

LOl - I'd er, sell thousands wouldn't I?!!! :lmao:

Joking aside I do love Disney with all my heart, and I think it was because it was the first time Dad had been plus it truly was awful crowds :sad2:

But Dad knew it wasn't a true representation of what Disney is all about and HE chose the family holiday to DLP this summer. So it must have left some mark on his heart too ;) He wanted to go for 5 days!!

But next year it's back to WDW next year - and New Year too.........what am I doing???? LOL!

ok i knew it would be busy but thats awful:scared1::scared1::scared1:.

do the disney hotels do anything ,then go outside by the lake and watch the fireworks from there???? or is it a complete waste of time going anywhere near disney.

I know there is a meal at each hotel - which is about £60-£90 depending on which hotel you are at, for an adult if booked before hand, so goodness knows what it would be on the night.

I think I'd rather go Halloween where the fireworks are actually on the lake, the fireworks in the park is a big no no NYE :scared1: this is also the main reason we are staying for much longer this time, the fireworks everynight :thumbsup2

MAybe I should say everyone should go at least once to experience NYE at Disney, but I won't!

(P.S I can sympathise with you there about NYE, last year was the first time we'd all spent it together but my daughter was asleep in her pushchair by 8 local time so got a bit ridiculous having to push her through the crowds. this year who knows? I may be booking a flight with you lol)

I went for NYE last year and to be honest I was glad I did it but I wouldn't visit Disney again at that time.

The Park is very, very busy, my friend and I didn't think the fireworks were that good, I had my purse stolen, the queues to get out of the park were awful and everywhere was jammed solid!

I would rather have gone around 4 days after New Year so you still get a chance of seeing the Xmas decorations and shows whilst it is alot quieter.

Also many of the restuarants on NYE were ticketed affairs costing between £70-£110 per person for a meal, my friend and I dined at the Cowboy Cookout instead and we had a lovely meal in there!!

We went to DLP last year and i completley agree with Lisa it is terrible at NY, im not sure how many people are allowed in the park at any one time but im sure it was too many!

Although if anybody is reading this thread who has already booked we had our evening meal on new years eve in the Newport bay Hotel, it was a buffet and it was absolutley delicious, there was a huge selection of quality food and the price was not bad at all i cant remember exactley but i think it was about 30 euros, which was very reasonable compared to everywhere else.
