Sorry about the disappearing act I pulled shortly after the Princess. Real life slammed in and things are slowly settling down. Thru it all though the Goofy has shone brightly in front of me so my training has been continous. Mileage is doing ok, getting in my gym days. Working on getting my pace faster. Last fall we found that a metro park worked well for us as it is a 6 mile loop around a lake. 2 weeks ago Susan and I found that if we did all the little parking areas around the lake we were getting in I think it was 11 miles with just one time around. I've been going out with Ray (dh) who is now also up to 12 miles for his long day and he pushes me to keep a pace that is currently just a bit slower than my current race pace so things in that department are coming along nicely. Hopefully soon we'll be able to do run further during our walks.

I have canceled all my 2009 races (thankfully hadn't registered for anything just dates penciled in) and my focus is totally on Goofy.

I need to look over the posts and see how everyone's training is coming, looking forward to being around more but for now the grocery shopping needs to be completed so i can do some miles tomorrow at least that part of real life is only an hour or so away ;)

John/Karen? Suzie? I'd love to hear how the knees/legs are doing? Want to see John kick some asphalt and get that medal and Suzie I do believe it was a double dare from you (& Cindy) that had me signed up for this thing :lmao: Course Susan & Cathy can share the blame with you and Cindy ;)

Now I have to go and read this Streaking :scared1: thing Mel is curious about, but 1st groceries because that might take awhile :rotfl:

Diane Howdy! Which metro park are you at--Metro Beach, Stony Creek? I figure if I train for the marathon, then at some point I'll be out at Kensington-just for the variety.

Glad to see you back.

Hi Maura!

We've been going to Stony Creek. 6 Mile loop around the lake. Paved. They even keep this loop fairly clean thru the winter. I figure we'll find ourselves out at Kensington sometimes, just haven't been out there lately and with the gas prices  I'm sure it will be a once a month visit at that. We will probably be at Dodge for a few of the shorter mile days. But another thing I like about Stony, I don't have to use OFF as much! Matter of fact i haven't used it yet at Stony but at Dodge I'd be eaten alive with it.

Actually I have to grab some breakfast as we are leaving shortly for Stony :)

Maybe I'll see you soon around town ;)

Thanks Anne!!!

Kim? Hockeychic = Kim? I'm trying to rebuild the real names goes with user names in my head LOL I'm just getting use to the "it's 6 months out" and then I see your note that the 20WK program starts the week of Aug 23rd and I about feel off my chair. It's funny how seeing it just a little different makes it even THAT much closer :scared1: I hear ya on dropping some pounds. I've been working on that myself :thumbsup2 that and some focus on getting my pace faster :) It sure does make me feel better knowing all the other team mates doing the Goofy, I'm sure we'll be finding each other along the way :thumbsup2 and our Scream Team :cheer2:

Diane

Welcome back, and it's sooo good to see you. I'm so glad I'll be doing the Goofy on the 5th anniversary with you and Kim. It's going to be a lot of work, but fun. :goodvibes

Oh, and I started a new WISH team roster, where I'm adding people's real names. Gotta prepare for the POP meet, you know. :goodvibes

Welcome Back Diane!!!!!

Good to see you taking the plunge and getting your training in for Goofy......

Did you see our Thanksgiving race was sold by Bingham? If I do one this year it will likely be a different race.

Looking forward to Goofy number 2 and I read today that they are making a new Medal for the 5th Anniversary......:banana::banana:

Debra... this is going to be such a blast! And now I read that PAT! is signed up?!?!?!?

JEAN! I drive by a certain restaurant around and can't help but think of you and your daughter now LOL Can't wait to see you and John again! Hope your foot is much improved

Chris I saw the Thanksgiving race was sold :( Though I hadn't planned on driving down for it this year. The training is going well. I managed to get in 37 miles (total) this past week so hopefully all will continue to go well and my pace will increase, my distance endurance will slowly build again and no injuries :thumbsup2 Bringing the family again for the Marathon weekend?

Back to work. I'm over the moon over my mileage for this past week so am bouncing all over the place today LOL Thanks Team!!!! :grouphug:

Diane - No family this year it will most likely be a solo trip. My parents may actually come, but we'll see. Wow do I feel like a slacker. Running miles for me last week were a total of 13. I have been walking as well probably in the 10 mile range so I guess those are additional miles. I'm behind where I was last year so I will start ramping them up as we go along (A mile to two a week.)

Something that surprised me is that we don't have a Goofy thread going. Maybe this could be it! :thumbsup2 I mean half of the Goofy Participants are on these boards right? :rotfl2:

Diane! Good to see you back here! You are doing fantastic with your training.

Chris my mileage was 99.99% walking so you had best include YOUR walking miles. After all, one way or another we're all crossing that line on Jan 10th :cool1: I actually have 3 training buddies now. I have my poor hubby Ray (he was at the Turkey Trot too) out there doing miles with me. There are days he is pushing me and I'm being forced to jog to keep up, whining the entire way :rotfl2: I'd say I'm surprised he hasn't pushed me in the lake yet but there was an incident this one day

Jeanne! I'll take one for the Team! In a round about way of course! :rotfl: I can just imagine me saying to Ray... Pull over, I NEED to get a milk shake from that place, it will HELP Jeanne's daughter

Chris are you starting that Goofy thread or what?!?!?

Hi Diane and others training for the Goofy!

Way to go on your training, Diane!! My training has been practically nil. Cindy is one step ahead of me...which isn't much at this point! I am starting to do some bike riding which will really help. I just got a training plan from Coach Jenny (yikes!) so I moving a little forward, ha! My official training is (or was) going to start with the Seattle RnR race. Elite Racing has lost my registration so I'm waiting on pins and needles to see if I can still get in.

I can't believe I signed up for Goofy. However, I want that special medal! We need to form a support group. Ha! (It's all Cindy's fault!)

HI DIANE!! I am trying to recruit people to go Goofy more than one year... for me. I won't be there this year (not that I am ready to go Goofy!). Train up hard and do it again for me!!!!

I know, I am harassing! Good luck with your plan!

Jen!!! As long as nothing extremely horrible happens between Jan 9 and 10 I plan on doing the Marathon in 2011 with ya! At this point on June 23, 2009 I refuse to admit to anything beyond that for Jan 2011 ;) All I do know is I typically register the day after the Marathon for the next year but for the 2011 registration I will have to wait a few days before I hand over the money and will be sure to post what i am doing. :flower3:

Work on Mel! If you need help Susie has had fabulous luck in talking people who swore off any more marathons into doing the Goofy. i'm sure she can help you twist a few arms ;)
