I was wondering what your processing time for renewing US Passport. The web site says 4 to 6 weeks but I was wondering if that was their actual time. I remember when we applied the first time it was only half the time they quoted...but then again that was 10 years ago:laughing: I imagine with the new laws they have had a lot of applications recently.

I just got a new (not renewal) passport and passport card for DD17. She is going to Scotland & England for 3 weeks this summer with her grandparents :cool1: Which is mostly a happy dance for her, but also for me because I can't remember the last time I had 3 weeks all to myself!

It took just under 4 weeks, and that was with them sending a letter back requesting more documents. I sent in the required stuff on the form, but they wanted more with her picture.

I think a renewal would be easier though.

We actually went today to get passports for me and my two sons. They told us 6-8 weeks. Time will tell....

The last week of April, took our kids' renewal 5 1/2 weeks. Just got them. I was told that sometime renewals take a bit longer (different department processing). I was also told that they may have taken that long because they have the question on the application of "when is your trip scheduled." we wrote; "we do not have one until late summer, it is just a renewal due to it being a week prior to exspiration". So we may have pushed it to the bottom of the pile with our reply.;)

My daughter has to renew her passport (she only had 5 years on the other one because she was under 16)--what is the cost for the renewal and will they (the Post Office) take a check? Thanks!

We got new passports in March. Ours were long expired and ds never had one before. We were told 2 weeks, but ds got his in 3 weeks and we got ours in 4 weeks. I checked the progress of ours online when ds' came (I was afraid they got lost) and it had a date in May online, which would have been 9 weeks after we applied. Really glad it didn't take that long!

It was $75 to renew a passport book. $45 for a passport card. We had to mail ours off to the National Passport Processing Center in PA.
