I have been hearing good reviews about Up. Care to add your opinions?

Is it worth extra money to see it in 3D?

I thought the movie was great. I didn't see it in 3D and enjoyed it.

Disney and Pixar are fantastic!!! UP is the best animated feature film that I've seen since I was a child (and that was a long time ago).:thumbsup2

I saw it in 3D and would not if I had to do it over. When the movie was over my eyes were painfully tired and I felt edgy. I think it is an awesome movie and I would have been just as happy to see in in regular format.

We are planning to see it this weekend. Our theater in Farmington doesn't get 3-D and we won't be going elsewhere just to see it in 3 D. Where are they plying it in 3 D in central Maine out of curiosity (I rarely get out of my own town so I don't know what other theaters have).

The best part of the movie is the storyline. You get caught up in it and feel for the characters.

The 3D effects just enhance the images somewhat.

I saw both and you will be fine without the 3-D. I wanted to do the 3-D since that's the way the filmaker wanted it to be seen, but I really didn't see that much difference. It was a $4 upcharge at my theater. Not worth it, IMHO

We used a gift card (good for one movie, not a specific price), and even though on the back it said that 3-d and other specialty movies may have an extra charge, they didn't charge us anything. But I don't think the 3-d is necessary, you can definitely enjoy it just as much without it. Honestly, after the previews I didn't notice it that much.

I thought the sky scenes in 3D were amazing. It was like you were actually looking up into the sky, especially at night. However, at one point the glasses were sort of bothering me and I slipped them off for a minute and noticed that the colors were far more vivid with them off, albeit a bit more blurry. The glasses actually dimmed the vividness a bit. So, I might go back and see it again in 2D. That's why I voted, doesn't matter because I think you get a "bonus" either way you see it.

I agree with you also that the storyline makes this movie.

I saw it yesterday with my DS 4 and DD 7, and we all loved it. Our small theater does not offer 3D, and it did not matter. The storyline is great, and the movie was incredibly funny. I laughed more at Kevin than anything (Kevin is the large bird if you haven't seen it). Great Disney/Pixar movie!

I saw it in "regular - D" and loved, loved, loved it. I don't think you need to see it in 3D to get tremendous enjoyment out of it. See it however you can!

I didn't see it in 3D and loved it.

My mom saw it in 3D and she said the effects didn't really add anything to it. She loved the movie, just didn't think it was worth the extra cost for the 3D. :3dglasses

I saw it in 3d and really enjoyed it.. I loved how it added depth to the movie and not so much things flying off the screen..It was worth the money for me...

My family saw it in Disney Digital 3D which I tend to find "easier" to watch than IMAX-3D (is Up playing in IMAX?). We travel a bit to a brand new theater with "silver screen" that really seems to alleviate any brightness issues.

I agree entirely with the PP (quoted above). I fell the subtle, realistic way that PIXAR uses 3D really adds to the movie experience on almost a subconscious level in a way that you don't really appreciate until looking back on the movie.

Specifically for UP, 3D really added a fantastic sense of depth, especially with the expansive vistas presented around Paradise Falls and the dogfight scenes.

I just saw it today in 3d and thought that it was well done and not over 3ded if you know what I mean. Besides the 3d I thought that it is one of the best Disney/Pixar Movies in a very long time. Absolutely loved the storyline and it really made you feel for the characters. Top notch:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I took the kids to see it last Sunday in 3D. The kids enjoyed it, but I loved it. So endearing.

We loved UP...it actually reminded me a lot of Meet the Robinsons...I know a lot of folks didn't like that one but I thought it had a great message too. They both felt like movies Walt would have made.

We saw in 2D, not sure there would have been much difference in 3D because of all the tears (we cried at beginning, middle and end!)

I saw it in both formats (yes, I am addicted to Pixar films... "Hi, I'm Jon and I'm a Pixarholic").

I would definitely say that the 3D is not worth it. The effects don't add that much, and as a previous poster said, it dulled the colors significantly. However, the short that ran before it, Partly Cloudy, was enhanced nicely by the 3D.

FWIW, the movie is in my top 3 Pixar films. Did anyone else need 2 Kleenex boxes by about 15 minutes into the film?

My wife and I went to see Up and we thought it was great. We really felt that the storyline made for a good movie. The 3D effects made us feel like it enhanced the movie. There wasn't any corny tricks of stuff flying out at you like Muppet Vision 3D. The 3D just added depth to the movie. :thumbsup2

I actually didn't like Up as much as I'd hoped. But aside from that..

I'm totally pro-3D. Some of the scenes of the clouds, nature, waterfalls made me say - wow, I'm glad I'm seeing this in 3D. It was stellar.

Seeing a movie like this in 3D is like going to HDTV, or surround sound, or any other new technology. It brings the experience to another level, even though previous to the technology everything was "fine." It's just plussing it to the next level.

So this is the 4th Disney Digital 3D movie I've seen. (Meet the Robinsons, Chicken Little, Bolt) The 3D experience has been great in all of them, even though the movies haven't all been great. (I'm a Bolt fan.)

You obviously won't notice any deficits in 2D. It's just a different experience in 3D. I loved it.

The 3D that is. I thought the movie itself was OK.

I say see it in 3D. There are so many scenes in the movie that are in the clouds. It makes everything pop more.

No Partly Cloudy for you? That is odd. I hadn't heard of anyone not seeing the short before the feature film.

As for 3-D or not 3-D, I did see it in 3-D and it was great. It probably would have been great without the 3-D, but I am in favor of seeing it in 3-D because you can. You can always watch the 2D version when it comes out on DVD!

Answering whether it is "worth it" is tough because it is hard to put a value on the upgrade. I know I had a little sticker shock when I paid almost $30 for two adults, but after the movie I didn't regret paying at all- this one is high on the list of great Pixar movies. As others have said, it isn't gag 3-D like the shows in the parks - it is more the next level of enhanced viewing, like what HD has done for regular TV.

We went to see it in 2D because I didn't want to wait until 11:30pm to see it in 3D. What a great movie! I was thinking of going to see it again in 3D in the next couple of weeks.

Did anyone else not get to see "Partly Cloudy" before "Up"?

I guess I'll buy it on iTunes, then.

I keep saying this, but it is true...Pixar is the best run movie studio in the world. This movie is deep and entertaining...and should not be missed. This film hits on many levels and should get Academy attention for Picture...it is that good.

I finally saw Up. :goodvibes

The movie was fabulous. I loved  it!

This was my first 3D :3dglasses movie other than the ones at WDW. I love the pop out at you effects of the WDW 3D movies. This was far more subtle, gave the scenes a sence of depth and lushness.

There was a $3.50 upcharge for the the film in 3D. It was the only choice at my theater.

The story and visuals carried the film. Factoring the extra money for 3D, I think the two choices are equal.

And, yes did indeed tear up and cry at a few scenes. Thanks for the warning to bring tissues!

Yes, see it in 3-D as the clarity of the picture is something to behold. Way better than on a regular screen. There are 144 frames per second in the 3D version, which is SIX TIMES FASTER than a regular movie!!!!!
