I'm sure you've all heard of the missing girl from UT, Elizabeth Smart. Her family has created a web site about the case. I was looking through it, and came upon this photo:

http://www.elizabethsmart.com/elizsmart22.htm

Anyone recognize them? The photo was taken within the past year.

As a Utah resident....please remember Elizabeth in your prayers.
Print out the flyers from the Smart website and post them where ever you can....it's been two weeks, she could be anywhere.
And yes, hug your babies.

Which one is Elizabeth?

Dave, she's the older girl on the right in the photo.

I swear when I first saw this my heart stopped, that photo looked SO familiar to me.

It really is a very sad story. :(

Very sad indeed ~
We have been following this daily on our news.
Our prayers are with her for a safe recovery ^i^

It's sad to think that she could have been anyone of our daughters or sons. You always think it happens to someone's else family, but this brings it home that it can happen to anyone.

We have that same shot at CC with our kids and it just makes me cry to think it could have one of them and what that family must be going through.

I also got goosebumps as the photo started to download and some very familiar stacks came into view.

I do hope she's found safe.

where was she when she disappeared?...
i haven't heard anything about it (we live overseas so our news didn't mention it)..
it's so awful....terrifying....and i can't imagine what her parents must be feeling.....complete terror for your child....and complete helplessness....the not knowing....and worse, the thoughts of what might have happened...
awful....

disneyholic - She was taken from her bedroom at 1am. The family lives in an enormous (6,000+ sf) home so the abductor had to have known where he was going inside that house. There has been lots of speculation about a drifter that was seen in the area who is now missing as well. There was also a news report that it could have been an "inside job" as it appeared the screen used for entry into the home was cut from the inside. As I said, all of this is speculation...there has been nothing definite reported.

I, too, got goosebumps when I saw the CC picture. I hope and pray that this all has a positive outcome.

oh my god...from her bedroom???.....that's horrifying....
we have motion detectors in our house.....but i'm sure professionals can get around that in a second...
i'm glad my kids aren't aware of this....i'm sure they'd have trouble sleeping at night...

They had an alarm system with motion detectors but didn't alarm it becuase the kids tripped it off a lot.

Wasn't Polly Klaus kidnapped from her bedroom in front of other people as well?

Anne,
when we first moved into this house we didn't use the alarm because we thought it was a nuisance....that is, until burglars broke in while we were sleeping......they came right into my bedroom, into the walk-in closet....while my husband and i slept only a few feet away....and the most frightening thing was to think that my kids were alone in their beds.....anything could have happened...but thankfully they only stole things and didn't harm us......but as you can imagine, we've used that alarm every day and every night since then.....

I am a pretty light sleeper--will wake to any sounds that "shouldn't" be there, and sleep through any "normal nosie". I sleep with my bedroom door locked, and a burglar would make more than enough noise trying to open the door to jar me awake enough to grab the 4 D Cell MagLite from the side of my bed and--well, lets just say it would be messy.

Anne,
ours was one of a series of burglaries in which the burglars were believed to have used some sort of spray that caused the victims to sleep....a sleep spray so to speak....
everyone reported the same thing....that they slept late that morning....that they woke up extremely groggy and had difficulty getting out of bed and concentrating....
that's also what happened to me even though normally i wake up quickly and easily....
on the other hand, we're pretty sure that my daughter did wake up when they were in the house....
she heard noise from our room and thought we were awake so she came to our room.....but we were asleep so she went back to bed (normally i wake the moment she walks to the door of our room)......
we think that the noise she heard was the burglars in the walk in closet with the door closed...
that thought especially upsets me...to think that she was awake with them in the house....and with us so totally asleep.....probably drugged....so we would have slept through anything that might have happened to her....but fortunately, nothing happened....

anyway....from that day forwards, our alarm has been on....at night when we sleep and any time we're away from the house, day and night....
we also put in a few other security devices at that time (as did all of our neighbors)...plus we got a dog.....a great addition to our family (and i doubt she'd hurt a flee, but her bark's enough to give you a coronary...)

Wow! that's REALLY SCAREY!!

Poochies are a great deterrent, aren't they!?!? I don't have a dog, but I have ferrets. Two are left out in the family room all night, and another two are left out in my bedroom all night. On nights that I work late, the two in the family room (which you more or less have to go through to get into the house) are always there to greet me at the door. I can see it now, if a burglar came in and saw them in the dark, he'd probably think they were rats. I do'nt know about you, but that would be enough to make me run away and never come back!! LOLOL!!!

So Anne has killer ferrets? Who knew?! :D

This whole thing sure is scary. We stopped using our alarm because our cats set it off. Now I'm thinking we should start using something, although I have no idea what.

You should be able to arm your alarm without turning on the motion sensors. My MIL & FIL always watch our dog when we go out of town, they found some way around the motion sensors!

This is so sad. I cannot get this out of my mind. And to see this picture is just terrible. As Pbans said, please keep Elizabeth and her family in your prayers. I know there has been a lot of speculation about the family, but I doubt very much that at least the immediate family had anything to do with it, or any knowledge about it. I cannot image what they are going through right now. I am glad they have had so much support in the community and around the country.

We were watching my son's baseball game at the park the night they found the license plates of the person they want to question. The people in my neighborhood are very frightened. How could this happen? In the safety of your own home. I hope they find Elizabeth. My heart and prayers go out to her and her family.

Wow, hard to swallow. My biggest fear (every parents I'm sure) is that their children will become someone's victim. I just cannot imagine and certainly pray for her safe return.

disneyholic family- that is really something! FREAKIN' SCARY! I don't think I could have slept another night in your home after that, but I do have a phobia about that stuff. I've gone into shock before when I've thought someone was in the house- clearly my imagination.

I too had chills running down my spine when I saw this picture.

Does anyone have any idea when they cruised??? They could have been on the ship with any of us, at any time.....

I have a 9 yo dd and I won't even let her go outside to play!!
Her ballet teacher brings her home from class two days a week,
she makes sure that dd is in the house before she leaves the
drive way. I don't allow dd to go outside once she is home. Yesterday the dog "peeped" in the floor..I started fussing at dd
then had to apologize because I was the one who told her not to take the dog out. I'd rather have the dog "peep" in the floor than risk either of them getting hurt or taken....

We have an alarm system that we don't set because we now have the dog. However, I do have sensors on the doors that if
they are opened...they make a noise. And no one could get in
the windows...they'd have to crawl over furniture first. And we
leave lights on all over the house, so I feel pretty safe at night.
We also live in a gated community and security makes patrols..
however, I still won't let dd out of my sight!!!

Let's all pray that this horrific thing comes to a good end soon.

Phyllis

it is so tragic that this darling girl had this happen to her but there are MANY weird things about it all and I dont think in my heart that it was a stranger abduction! Too many things have happened that have come out in the local news and on the local news channels on updates and such to warrant that this was 100 percent stranger abduction! I feel so sorry for that little girl and for her sister who will have to live with this for the rest of her life! It is tragic but it also doesnt make complete sense either! I was sickened to see this picture also and feel so sorry for those in her family who are dealing with this! I volunteered for 3 days searching for her right after it happened to no avail and it was heartbreaking as a mother to know that somewhere is this girl who is crying for her mommy as well and it was hard to come to terms after searching for days for her that we will probably never find her or if she is found I would highly doubt at this point that she is alive! Since her abduction Utah has had 1 more abduction which was ended happily a few hours later and another almost abduction yesterday afternoon about 40 miles south of Salt Lake City. Seems everyone now wants in on the "action" so please all of you kiss your kids a little more and hug them tighter! I know we do it every night around here as well!!!
