- for visits from 9th November.

Noticed this while I was checking out some dates for February... :rolleyes1

Half Board Plus will be £24 per adult (from £21). Children still £10

Half Board Premium will be £42 per adult (from £36). Children up to £16 (from £13)

Haven't checked Standard prices.

It's a shame that these are becoming less and less of a good deal :guilty:

Another jump within a year? You're right Bexx, less and less of a good deal every time they change it :confused3.

There is little or no advantage in buying half board plus at those prices, for example Billy Bobs buffet costs 25 euros, plus a soft drink 3 euros. Child price includes a soft drink, and is 12 euros. At even the current exchange rate, thats around £35. Paying for hb plus in advance price = £34. If the exchange rate increases even a little bit between now and winter, you could actually be losing out, paying for half board vouchers in advance.

Shareholders club, for that 15% discount on meals and shopping, is a much better deal.

Well that has ruled out me getting HB plus.

I cannot believe they have increased the prices again.

It pretty much stinks! I`m dreading thiking about next years prices - we decided today to go to the disney store to buy our merch before we leave and spent 200. Sounds alot but the euro price would be double. I just wish the food vouchers were the same good value!

Do Disney not want visitors or something? First they make annual passes unattractive by reducing the benefits and giving rubbish room only rates. Now they're reducing the benefit of their dining plans:confused3

Think their marketing department need to evaluate their practice:sad2:

Thing is, DLRP is still running at a loss, and their debt has increased according to the latest fiscal report, so I guess they feel they have to try and get some of that loss back, in whatever way they can :confused3.

What they don't seem to grasp though, is with all of this, it just makes staying offsite all that more attractive (ie even less money going into DLRP's coffers).

I totally agree. They are pushing away customers. Even those who return time and again. Lets face it if you've gone to the bother of buying an AP then your a guaranteed return customer who's going to spend money on merchandise, restaurants etc,

That's impressive - they've basically killed a HUGE advantage of the half baord vouchers with this price increase.

We're now looking at £24 = €26 face value (plus) and £42 = €46 face value (premium).

So, with these new prices in mind, you have an effective face value exchange rate of £1 = €1.08 for the plus and £1 = €1.09 for the premium.

Now - I can buy euros from the post office online for £1 = €1.12...

With this in mind, it is now the case that unless you are planning on eating either at buffets or from the specific set menus, then half board is no longer the sensible option as the face value option is now more expensive than simply paying with cash.

This is bd for Disney really as before I've been an advocate for the half baord because of the good exchange rate which has meant we've had a table service meal, in a Disney restaurant, every day. With this price increase, I am no longer interested in half board and would therefore gladly visit Rainforest / Planet Hollywood / Ludwigs, meaning that Disney now lose out on one, maybe even two meals worth of money from me.

Oh well - their loss, not ours :confused3

And we are now converts to the restaurants at Val d'Europe - don't forget these guys, easy to get to on the train, a couple of minutes by car, much cheaper and much more choice.

its a shame that they have upped the price, we didnt do it on our last trip but have bought it for our next one, purely as a budgeting purpose though, as at least we know we have breakfast in package and also either lunch or dinner in the package also so at least we wont have to use as much of our spending money of meals when we are there

When we went in January the HB+ worked out at £1 = €1.3. What it is now is one hell of a drop in value. As the exchange rate has improved recently and I think will continue too, come January when we return HB will be the worst option.

Very, very true.

I'm now even happier that I get my 15% shareholders discount ;)

just wondering does anyone else think maybe the food prices are going up in nov so they are increasing the h/b costs to stay in line with his. as you ment to be saving 15% by buying in voutchers in advance:scratchin

I really think its all to do with the exchange rate Disney will use from November, as in April this year, when the prices rose is pounds to buy the vouchers, the face value of the vouchers in euros only rose by about one euro, if at all.

I think it has a lot to do with the probability that they lost a lot on HB last year due to the exchange rates. They'd pegged their prices based on a 1.30 - 1.40 £ to Euro rate, then it fell through the floor...

People like myself who'd never even considered the vouchers before (always preferred to pay cash with shareholders discount), suddenly saw a good - no, make that a GREAT deal in front of them, and snapped it up quick. Now they are trying to make their money back.

Of course, do we expect the vouchers to come back down in price when the £ to Euro rate recovers to something like 1.20? Do we heck!

Disney specify the exchange rate they use for calculating UK prices in the booking conditions. These are printed at the back of the brochure. Last winter they were using a rate of 1.41 euros per pound. During the current summer season it is 1.26 euros per pound and next winter it drops to 1.15 euros. I think this is the main reason for the price increase and agree that I do nor expect to see the euro price to go up by very much if at all.
If the exchange rate improves between now and next winter it will probably be better value to pay for meals than use HB.

My thoughts exactly! I think they will raise prices in November but, of course, have to factor the price rise into the vouchers now. I'm going to take the risk and go ahead and purchase our HB+

ive booked for nov with the irish site so were euro so exchange rate doesnt effect us, ive booked h/b premium and i got an email couple days later saying my total cost was extra cant rem exactly maybe 30ish euro due to h/b price increase to that why i think restraunt prices are going up too, obviously the bad sterling rate isnt helping uk visitors either but as there increasing the h/b price for euro countrys too its not all down to exchange rates, just noticed disney hav added a supplement for guest at hotel santa fe and cheynne if they want rooms closer to the main hotel block or rio grande river, it price hikes all round it seems:headache:

Well, just booked 10 nights (Nov 4th to Nov 14th) and added in the HB+. Got charged the old rate for 4th - 8th and the new rate from 9th - 14th. The lady I spoke to agreed that the prices in the park will rise to reflect the voucher increases.

Also, looking at the 2009/2010 brochure adult prices:

Breakfast with Disney Characters, B4 9th Nov £13, After 9th Nov £16
Lunch/Dinner with DC, B4 - £24, After £28
Auberge B4 - £44, after £51

This is very roughly a 20% increase, whereas voucher price increase has gone from £21 to £24 per night, roughly 15% increase.

Therefore, if park prices follow character dining increase then the HB+ vouchers are still good value.

Good grief - I am sure glad I am going in July now!! The price hike on Auberge is terrible!!

We were planning on going in a big group next year due to some money coming my way, but have now seriously decided to return to WDW rather than be ripped off here :-( I've always found DLP expensive but it's just getting ridiculous, especially with the difference in merch prices, and now food!!

It breaks my heart because travel to Florida takes 9 hours on a plane, plus a stop over at Gatwick the night before so the kids get very upset about how long it takes to get there. DLP takes me two hours and that's it! I sure hope the pound recovers by next summer as they will loose a lot of potential new customers. And customers is the right word and I'm not sure they remember what the word "fans" means these days!
