View Full Version : You're the best parents in the world! I gotta pee! Where's My Tooth? Trip report!

Hi ya guys and gals! First off, let me start by saying that I have never written a trip report so bear with me. I didn't even know that trip reports existed until about seven or eight months ago. I know....what's up with that? I guess I spent all my time over on the resort and theme park boards and didn't venture out enough.:confused3
I am also going to tell you right now that you'll find that I am a detail person. I guess it's because I have to go into such detail when drafting legal documents. So, I am apologizing up front. If you don't want to know all the details, just skip around. You know....like when you read just the juicy parts of a romance novel and skip all the boring parts. Don't worry, you won't hurt my feelings.;)
I absolutely love taking pictures. The more the better so you'll see lots of pictures in this report. Some of my pictures from this trip were lost somewhere between my camera and my computer. It took a guy at the camera shop two hours to restore 967 pictures. I know I took more but that's all he could retrieve. Since I had cried for two days before I took the camera to the shop, I was happy with what he was able to do.
Our family consists of:
Myself: Lisa, 43, legal secretary for 26 years. Yep, I was just a babe out of high school when I started working in a law office. After spending 25 years in the same firm, I finally decided to make a change. So, I went to work with another attorney in May of last year. That meant we had to cancel our June, 2008 WDW vacation. I'll give more details in a little bit. Oh, and I have Bell's Palsy. It's no biggie, you may just notice that the right side of my face is a bit puffy and my eye droops a little. Oh well, if that's all life has thrown at me so far (other than ovarian pre-cancer), I can handle it.
My husband: John, 43, owner of a cabinet shop. After working and making money for others for many many years, he decided to make a drastic move...quit his job and started his own custom furniture and cabinet shop. It really was a good move since he suffered a head injury on the job 16 years ago which caused him to have epilepsy. The seizures are under control with medication but there are some days that are worse than others. Those are the days when being your own boss is great.
Our daughter: Lacey, 22, missionary college student in Cleveland, Georgia. She goes to school year round (well, they are off for three weeks for the Summer). The program she is in is very intense. Not only does she take online college courses but she teaches children's church, volunteers at a homeless shelter in Atlanta, Georgia, volunteers her help with a mentally and physically handicapped baseball team, works at a Summer camp for Autistic children and a Summer camp for children from financially strapped families who otherwise might not get to attend camp. She is one busy girl and Mama is super proud of her. It is a bit hard though because we only get to see her for a week at Christmas, a week in May and three weeks in the Summer.
Our son: Hunter, 12. Hunter has grown up going to Disney World. His first five consecutive steps were in the Magic Kingdom. He is very into riding his bicycle, art, playing football, playing his guitar, his Playstation and hanging out with his Youth group friends. He's the one that yelled "You're the best parents in the whole wide world!". More about that in just a minute.
Our puppy: Oddball, 1. We adopted Oddball (Disney name: from 101 Dalmations) from a local animal shelter last year. He was our consolation prize after we had to cancel our June, 2008 WDW vacation: Since he and his two brothers were "drop-offs" at the shelter, we didn't know his true age but they estimated about 6 weeks. We decided he has the same birthday as our son.
Here's a picture of my husband, Hunter and I taken on our 2008 trip:

And a picture of Lacey and Hunter:

And Lacey with her Mission Georgia Master's Commission Group when they visited our house last year:

Now that the introductions are over, I'll tell you a bit more about the story behind the title.
Like I said, because I changed jobs, I had to cancel our 2008 vacation. I've known my new boss for many many years and he told me when he hired me that it was a real possibility that I could still take a vacation but later in the Summer. I didn't start work for him until the last week of May so I truly didn't think it would ever happen because school would be starting on August 17th. And, we were a one secretary/one attorney office. Who the heck was going to fill in for me even if I did book a vacation. But, I kept watching the Special Offers page on the Disney World website just in case.
When the End of Summer room only promo came out, I marched right into my boss' office and announced I would be going to Disney the second week of August. I told him what a good deal I could get and he said book it. I started calling all my legal secretary friends and attorneys to see if they knew anybody who could fill in for me. Just when it was beginning to look like I was going to have to call a temp service (which my boss didn't want to do), I found somebody! The granddaughter of one of my attorney friend's secretary. Hooray!
I immediately called my husband and he was super stoked. Since he's his own boss, he can take off any time he wants. Some time when we were talking, it was decided that we wouldn't tell Hunter about the trip. We would keep it a secret from him.
I get off the phone and call Disney travel and book a preferred location room at the Caribbean Beach Resort at a super fantastic price! Because it was a room only promo, we weren't able to book the dining package. We were okay with that because we had already spent a good chunk of our allotted June Disney vacation money when we went to Branson, Missouri (:scared1:and some people say Disney is expensive) and Arkansas.
Now you see, Hunter was majorly disappointed when we had to cancel our Disney vacation. We had gone that time of the year every year since 1998. Our June, 2008 trip was to be our 13th trip. (In the year 2000, we went three times.) We had taken him on a road trip through Missouri and Arkansas the week before I started my new job just so we could say we went on vacation in 2008. It just wasn't the same though. This surprise trip was going to be a big deal to Hunter.
It was now early July and we were wondering how in the world would we keep our Disney trip planning a secret? We would be traveling to Georgia to see our daughter graduate her first year of missionary college mid-July and I decided I would make a big deal of being too lazy to put the luggage back in the attic. That way, I could keep it in the bedroom and I could start putting things in it a little at a time without Hunter wondering why luggage was stacked up in the corner. I could also say that all the snacks I was picking up were for our Georgia trip (sticking some of those back too).
Anyway, time passes. We go to Georgia and the suitcases never get put in the attic. I order the park tickets and tell them we'll do Will Call for our tickets at our resort. During our 9 hour drive to Georgia, my mother (who knew about the surprise and who came with us to see Lacey graduate), John and I talked about John, Hunter and I going on another long weekend road trip in August. Hunter said that would be cool. Planting the seed so when we started packing up things in the car come August, it wouldn't seem crazy to Hunter.;)
The plan was in place but would we be able to be able to pull it off?

Hi Missy! Glad you're along for the read. Thanks for the compliments on the family. I am having the hardest time waiting for our August, 2009 trip to come along so I decided I would go ahead and do a report. Took me long enough didn't it!;)
It was super hard to keep the trip a surprise. There were quite a few times I almost let the cat out of the bag. Once, I actually said, "when we get to Disney" and immediately turned to see if Hunter heard me. Thank goodness he wasn't paying his Mama any mind. Go figure?:lmao:

I thought I better throw this DISCLAIMER in before Lacey finds out I posted those pictures of her without an explanation. Her mission group travels to different arenas and speak, do dramas and paint. Because of this she constantly has paint on her and her clothes. Most times, she has a bandana tied around her head too. She really is clean, you just can't tell it.;)

Welcome aboard! I just couldn't wait around doing nothing until our next WDW vacation. So, I thought I'd do a trip report to help pass the time.
I intended to get the next installment out tonight but one of the Judge's secretaries I am friends with came by this afternoon and we booked her a vacation at the CBR for June 26th! She's never been to Disney and needs all the help she can get!

Like I was saying, a big chunk of our Disney dollars had been spent traveling around Missouri and Arkansas so we were on a limited Disney budget. We decided that it would be counter service meals every day. Hey, I'll still be in Disney so I can hang with that.
But, we were celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary on August 10th so we decided to try and get an ADR for that night. Since we wouldn't have park hoppers and our trip was cut down from our usual 10 days, we decided to go to Epcot that day and try and get a dinner ADR in the park. After the Disney Dining Castmember spent about fifteen minutes trying to find us something/anything, she finally found Rose & Crown at 8:15 p.m. We had never eaten there but we'd give it a try.

Hi Connie! Thanks for coming over. I hope that things are going well with your little one. Isn't his surgery in just a few days?
Nobody understand the disboards until they are a member. I agree that it's a great way to meet new friends and other people who love Disney as much as I do.

I was very worried we wouldn't be able to keep it a secret. Like I said earlier, I made a few slip-ups but was able to recover. Your twins will love WDW!

Thanks for coming over. I am so going to miss the CBR this trip. We had family who thought they were going to come with us to WDW this year and they needed to stay in a value resort. So, we booked Pop. Well, they backed out but we decided to stay at Pop anyway. We're taking the extra money we saved and going to Cirque de Soliel.
I think Oddball is a cutie too!

Thanks for the compliments on the family. In what little spare time my daughter has, she does laundry. That's about all the time she has. She actually talked her leader into letting her come back to the mission three days late this August so she could go to Disney World with us. I am super excited that she'll get to come along.

My boss is in court so I thought I'd work on my trip report a bit more. Hey, I'm all caught up so I'm not doing anything wrong. But still, you won't tell will you?;)
I'll start by saying this installment won't include any pictures. You see, when we came home from our trip, I lost lots and lots of our vacation pictures when I connected my camera to my computer. Vamoose! They were nowhere to be found on the camera and nowhere to be found on my computer. Just vanished into thin air.:scared1: The entire first travel day was lost, many of our arrival day pictures were lost (including the big surprise reveal...thank goodness I have it on video) and some of our Epcot day pictures were lost. Yes, I cried over it for two days. Thank goodness the guy at the camera shop was able to retrieve some of them. Anywhoo!
Let's see......reservation booked, tickets bought, sole ADR made, road trip seed planted, oh yeah.....time to start the sneaky stuff.
The plan was to leave when I got off work on Friday at Noon. All week long, we kept telling Hunter we were going on a long weekend road trip. We didn't really know where we were going, just wherever our car took us.
This really isn't too unusual for us so it didn't throw up any red flags for Hunter. There are times when we say "hey we're going to *** to camp this weekend" or "pack an overnight bag, we're heading to ***".
Hunter was in charge of packing up all his PSP games, his movies, his drawing stuff and the portable DVD player.
I was in charge of packing everybody's clothes and toiletries. I also packed the "snack box".
John and Hunter were in charge of the ice chest and the car itself. They had the oil changed and filled up the car Friday morning while I was at work. John loaded all the suitcases in the car while Hunter was watching television.
When I came home, I put what John and I secretly called the "mystery envelope" in between the driver's seat and the console. John put the ice chest in the trunk. One last "make sure you go to the bathroom" call, one last hug for Mamaw, one last snuggle with Oddball and we were on our way to "who knows where"!
We hit the nearest McDonald's and hit I-20 at 1:38 p.m.
Normally, we leave on a Wednesday evening and are making our way through the tunnel in Mobile, Alabama at night. The only time we ever travel through Mobile is on our way to Disney. This trip, we would be going through the tunnel during daylight hours. We figured this would be when Hunter caught on. Guess what? He fell asleep about thirty minutes before we reached Mobile. Yeah! John called my mother (Mamaw) to let her know that we had made it through Mobile. She really thought Hunter would figure it out in Mobile too.
We make pretty good time across part of the Florida panhandle. Hunter wakes up and we have to make a pit stop. When we travel, we like to walk around a rest area and stretch our legs. Of course, Hunter spies the huge Florida map at the rest area and sees that we are in Florida.
Hunter: "Mama, since we are in Florida, why can't we just drive down to Disney?"
Me: "Baby, you know that we don't have the money to go to Disney after we took that road trip to Missouri and Arkansas. Besides, that's too far to go for just a long weekend."
Hunter: "Man!"
John: "Come on Best Buddy (that's what they have called each other every since Lacey went off to missionary college two years ago), let's get back on the road."
John to me: ;);)
We get in the car and decide to drive just another hour or so and find the nearest Jameson Inn. Luckily, we don't have to drive far, just another hour or so, to find one. We check in and once we get in the room, Hunter, of course, immediately turns on the television and starts flipping channels. He stops on the Weather Channel of all channels. Guess what they are doing? The weekend travel forecast. Where are they highlighting? Orlando. AND, they say it would be a great weekend to visit Disney World.
Again, Hunter asks if we can go to Disney. We give the same excuse as before. We get the same "Man!" but then Naruto comes on and his mind is elsewhere.
We don't stay up too late so we can be up and at them the next morning. Plus, we thought if we got up early, Hunter would probably sleep in the backseat while we make the rest of the drive to Disney. Before going to bed, Hunter called his Mamaw to tell her we were in Florida "but we're not going to Disney World."
The next morning, we hit the breakfast bar which, by the way, had a really nice assortment of yogurts and pastries. We took our goodies up to the room to eat while John took his turn getting ready.
After putting our overnight bags back into the car, we were on the road again. We drove several hours and couldn't believe that Hunter wasn't noticing any of the occasional billboards advertising Orlando. He was too enthralled in his newest PSP game. He fell asleep again...probably because his thumbs had had such a workout on the game.
When Hunter woke up, we were in Ocala, Florida. We asked Hunter if anything looked familiar. "Not really." "Are you sure?" "Yeah." Hey, this keeping a secret thing really isn't that hard after all.
John and I knew that we would soon start seeing the green mileage signs saying ** miles to Disney World. So, John took out the camcorder and told Hunter to start doing a trip video for us. We told him to say something like "Hey this is Hunter and we are on a road trip. We don't know where we are going. I guess just wherever the road takes us." After a couple of "practices" (we had to make sure the camcorder was working correctly), I spotted a mileage sign up ahead. John had Hunter start his spiel. Then, I said "Hey Hunter what does that sign up there say?" Hunter looked out the window and said "it says 30 miles to Disney World. Mama, can we pleeeeze go there?"
I told him that we really did know where we were going and handed him the "mystery envelope". He pulled out the Reservation Confirmation to the Caribbean Beach Resort in Walt Disney World. At first, he didn't comprehend it. You could see the minute he realized where we were going.
Hunter: "We're going to Walt Disney World?"
John: "We sure are Best Buddy."
Hunter: "You're the best parents in the whole wide world!"
Then he proceeded to take off his selt belt and bounce all around the back seat. All the while, he was yelling "You guys are totally awesome! "You really got me good!" "You knew all along didn't you!" Then he was talking a million miles a minute....how long are we staying?.....are we really staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort again?.....did Mamaw know?.
By this time, we are turning onto Hwy. 192 towards Disney World when Hunter stops the bouncing and exclaims, "I gotta pee I am so excited!" Hunter would kill me if he knew that I am about to tell you this. No, I won't tell you 'cause it would embarass him. Let's just say I am glad we had an empty water bottle in the backseat.:rotfl:
So, yes, we were able to keep the surprise from Hunter for an entire month! John and I were very very pleased with ourselves. I just wish I hadn't lost the pictures of our travel day and our "reveal" but at least I have the video.
Up next, checking into the Caribbean Beach Resort. ***With pictures!

Wow! I love it!!!! great start!!!! I actually cried and laughed:laughing: (maybe I'm overly emotional right now--nah!! Hunter's response was just precious....:rotfl:
the day was very long our appointments started at 10 am and we were out of there at 3 pm and good thing I brought a snack for Ashton we missed lunch... one of the doctors forgot us in the room (we had to see two docs in the same section -he thought we were there for the surgeron {which we had already seen}...I can't wait for this to be overwith.
I WANT TO GO BACK TO DISNEY AND LEAVE THIS MESS BEHIND...:guilty:
I know that is not the option; but it is a nice thought (even the beach would be great about now...;))

Girl, if I were in your position, I'd be emotional too. I'm glad I could make you laugh though.
I hate that the doctor forgot about you guys and it's a good thing you had a snack. My husband always talks about how heavy my purse is but I don't see him complaining when he starts digging around (usually in church...bad boy, but what do you expect from a preacher's kid) and finds some kind of goody in there.
I'm hoping to get my CBR pictures up in the next installment.

I think I'd have had to keep that green tea bottle close by so Dad wouldn't drink it. EEK! Guys have it soooo easy. Girls/women just have to hold it until the next bathroom stop.

When we finally made it to our stop at the airport, the dad quickly moved to the front of the bus with a clear ziploc bag and let's just say......."yellow liquid contents"
Love the ziplock bag story! Glad to have you on board.
Guys have it soooo easy.

I am soooo glad that you came over. I, too, cried and laughed at Hunter's response. Thanks for the compliments on my family. I know that every parent thinks their children are the best children in the whole wide world but my kids really are.:thumbsup2 Seriously, Lacey makes her Dad and I really proud. The things that she does simply amaze me. The things that I listed are just examples. Her heart is just filled with love for everybody. Truly, everybody. (sniff, sniff)

We're on Hwy. 192 headed towards World Drive and Hunter has taken care of his business in the empty (not now!) water bottle.:rotfl: We love Hwy. 192. I know, I know. It has all those bright, gaudy buildings.....the giant wizard, the mermaid swimming out of the building, the huge USA flag, etc. etc. etc. But, to us, it's means we have FINALLY arrived after sooooo many hours on the road (it takes us between 14 and 16 hours of driving, just depends on traffic and the weather).
As I have said two times already, some of my pictures were lost and the one of the Walt Disney World entrance sign is one of them.
We pulled into the Custom House and not, five minutes, after I got in line, a Magical Express bus pulled up. I was very glad that we beat them in line 'cause the bus was full. There were only two other families in front of me and I was called to the window in no time at all. The castmember who helped me was wearing an "earning my ears" button which had me a little concerned. I shouldn't have been worried because she knew what she was doing.
We chit-chatted while she was checking me in and I mentioned that this had been a surprise trip for Hunter. Another castmember heard us talking and asked where Hunter was. Of course, he and his dad (a/k/a best buddy), were watching the cartoons over in the t.v. area. I got their attention and they came over to the window. By this time, there were three castmembers in on the conversation and they all made a point of talking with Hunter and asking him all about the surprise. Hunter is a really good story teller and he had the castmembers and quite a few guests rolling laughing by the time he got to the "I gotta pee!" part. That's my boy!
Oh, I forgot to tell you, I asked the castmember checking us in if we had been placed in a newly refurbished Nemo room (at the time not all of the rooms had been redone) and she said we had. She also had us in a corner room next to the pool. Sweet!:thumbsup2
And for those of you who buy tickets from Disney and book the room separately, you can get the tickets added to your room key. Took them just a few minutes to do it. Just make sure you ask before they print the room keys out.
NOW BEFORE I GO ANY FURTHER AND START POSTING PICTURES LET ME TELL YOU THAT THE DATES ON THE PICTURES ARE ALL OUT OF WHACK!
The batteries in the camera died and I replaced them. Me, being all technology challeged, didn't know how to reset the date. I tried, I really did. Just when I got it set, the replacement batteries died. (They were in the backpack and I didn't know that they were still in there from another trip.) When they died later on in the trip, I replaced them again. I tried to reset the date and somehow got the a.m. and p.m. mixed up and well, heck, let me just say, the dates are all screwed up so don't look at the dates.:rotfl:
After Hunter had provided the castmembers with their afternoon entertainment, we were handed our folder of information and were free to go. So, we went. Straight to Martinique Building 24. (This was our third stay at the CBR so we knew just where we were to go.) It was a preferred location which I normally wouldn't have spent the extra money on but that's all they had available when I booked.
We found a parking spot right next to the sidewalk:thumbsup2 and grabbed a few things out of the car before heading to our room.
Here's our building!

I had already told Hunter and John that all of my Disboard friends wanted to see pictures of the room. They got into it just as much as I did. They would tell me to take a picture from this way, or that way, or pull the curtains, etc. etc. etc.
Here are more pictures of our room:

Now I don't know about you guys but when I am on vacation, we don't really just sit around. We usually just drop our stuff and start doing things....anything. Nobody can ever say that I don't get my money's worth out of a vacation. ;)
We walked down to the food court to get a bite to eat since we just had a drive-through lunch on the drive down.
I know that I took a few more of the food court and some of the food we ate but those vanished. Here's one of Hunter giving me his "serious" face. He was still super giggly because of his surprise and he kept making funny faces and I told him to give me a serious face.

***INTERRUPTION***
For some odd reason, John and Hunter just walked into the room and are looking at me and rubbing their tummies. What's up with that? Oh wait! It's time to cook dinner.
So, I guess that means I have to leave the trip report for now. Hopefully, it won't take me long to come back with the next installment.....Our day at Epcot.

Ooohhh! they have "nemo" rooms...as I mentioned before we were thinking that CBR would be our next resort...not really interested in the pirate rooms, yet. But, Ashton would love Nemo...love the pics...Hunter sounds like he has a GREEEAT personality...I just love all the color at CBR; can't wait to see more...I hope you have pool pics; although if we go in Dec. would we use the pool???

Happy you decided to write a trip report :goodvibes. Last fall I enjoyed looking at your CBR pics since we stayed at CBR in October. I like how you were able to pull off the surprise for Hunter . Love your CBR pics, we stayed in Martinque too. Looking forward to more of your report.

Unfortunately, the only pics I have of the new pool are when it was still under construction. I know that momof2disneyboys has lots of pictures posted over on the CBR thread.
We loved the Nemo rooms. The theme was there but it wasn't overwhelming.
Ashton does have a really good personality. He can come up with some one liners that have me rolling. Now, me, a couple of days later, I'll go "oh I wish I had said such-and-such." I'm not real quick on the uptake.:confused3

I'm having DeJevue. I think I saw your CBR pictures before. Did you post them after your trip on the resort rooms thread. They are great looking rooms. I have wanted to stay there some day, but I hear from alot of people how far and spread out it is, so now I'm not sure I ever will. LOL! Of course my DH hates to spend a dime more than we have to, so I'm sure we will always be in the values. Good thing I love POP! LOL! I'm sure I would be happy anywhere on property though.
I can't beleive you could even keep the secret AFTER you were on the road. I don't think I could. And if I did, DH would've blurted it out long before me. LOL! DH used to tell me my christmas presents on accident...like, it's time for you to open you earin....AHHHHH present. :lmao:

Hey Jen, I did post the pictures over on the resort rooms thread. We are CBR lovers but, as you know, we'll be at Pop this year. The extra money we saved by going value is going toward Cirque de Soliel tickets!
We drove over to Pop last August and, honestly, I think we walked just as far at Pop as we did at the CBR. I think the whole "it's spread out"/ "I walked forever" comments are seriously exaggerated. I walked from the furthest CBR building to Old Port Royale (main pool, store, etc.) and it took me 6 1/2 minutes. I don't think that's too bad.
Maybe one day when Claire is bigger and you guys need a bit more room, maybe your hubby will agree to try a moderate. If you do, make it the CBR.
I actually did, while driving, say, "when we get to Disney" and then realized what I was saying. John and I both turned around and looked at Hunter. He had his earphones plugged into the DVD player and never even looked up. Whew!
I know what you mean about husband's keeping secrets. John once bought me perfume for Christmas. When he came back from Christmas shopping, he said "Smell my wrist, that's your Christmas present." When I got a bit p.o.'d about it, he said "What? I didn't tell you what kind it was!"

Hey ya'll. Sorry I didn't get my Epcot day posted yesterday.
Hunter needed some new shorts and a new pair of tennis shoes for our August Walt Disney World trip so we hit the mall yesterday. Penney's had a really good Door Buster sale and I had a 15% off your entire purchase coupon. I was pleased with myself. We got Hunter two pairs of shorts, a pair of shorts for me, two tank tops for Hunter, two shirts for Lacey and a dress shirt for me to wear to work. Total cost? $52.57!
No tennis shoes at the mall but we did find a pair of Nike at Academy and they were only $39.99. He's now in men's tennis shoes meaning the prices go way up.
Everybody laughs at me because I usually won't buy anything unless it's on sale or clearance. Hey, I gotta save my money for Disney!
And, John's brother and his family (they live in Mississippi) came in to visit yesterday. They were here until really late so we slept in and skipped church today. They were having baby christening today and we go to a big church so I think there were over a dozen babies to christen meaning there would be no real sermon today anyway.
I do hope to get the Epcot day posted today. I know I'll be sad posting that day because most of my Epcot pictures were lost. Oh well, I'll still be able to tell you all about it.

Proud of you for being able to keep the secret. No way could I have kept it quite.
We actually had to tell my kids about this trip (It's their first trip by the way) because of the economy we made them decide between whether they wanted Christmas presents or a trip to Disney which would be their early Christmas. My kids are no dummies::thumbsup2 Natuarlly the picked Disney. Now I know no Christmas sounds cruel. I'm sure they'll be getting something under the tree just not a huge Christmas like they are used to. This trip is part of their Christmas.
We're so bad really cause we make them choose a lot - like do you want a big birthday party with all your friends or a nintendo wii. :scared1: I guess we're bad parents like that but we got to budget.
I'm like you on the shopping too girl. I take my percent off coupon and shop the clearance on top of it and take double savings.

Your son's reaction actually made me tear up, how sweet is that! I was going to surprise my DD's with our trip this summer. I was curious to see how close I could get before they figured out we weren't going to my mom's (who lives in Jacksvonville, FL) but to WDW. My oldest was reading my email over my shoulder when I was sending in my vacation request so the cat was out of the bag :headache:. Oh well, what do ya do?

Sorry for the delay in getting our Epcot day posted. Our Epcot day is not going to have a lot of pictures (well for me anyway) because some of the pictures weren't recoverable. (is that a word?)
August 10, 2008: Our 24th Wedding Anniversary and what better place to spend the day than at Walt Disney World? We usually take two days to cover Epcot but because our vacation was cut down to just 7 days, we had only one to spend at Epcot.
We aren't big breakfast eaters so we ate snacks in our room, kissed to celebrate our anniversary and were on the bus by 9:00 a.m. Aren't we the most romantic couple. Hey, we ain't got time for no romance, we gotta get to Epcot!
We wanted to get there at rope drop but, as you'll see from this post and more to follow that we didn't make but one rope drop this trip. It's so nice staying at the CBR because it never takes you long to get to any of the theme parks. We arrived[ in no time at all and still ahead of many of the crowds.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0398-2.jpg
The line to Spaceship Earth was really short but we decided to bypass it and headed straight to Soarin'.
Hey Hunter! Turn around for a picture:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0399-2.jpg
I am terrified of heights. When I say terrified, I mean terrified. I get all tingly. I feel like barfing. I feel all lightheaded. The whole shebang. But, I love Soarin'. Granted, when we fly over the mountain tops and our glider bounces up and down, I have to turn my head but I still like it. Once we are over the mountain tops, I am fine and dandy.
We arrive at The Land and the wait for Soarin' was just 35 minutes. To us, if there is any line with 30 minutes or less, that's not bad enough to get a Fastpass. If I had my pictures, I would post them. I took some while we were waiting in line.
After riding Soarin', we decided to stay in the pavilion and go on the Living With The Land ride. All of us really enjoy this ride. My grandparents owned a farm and I spent many many Summers on their farm. We also had a garden when I grew up and one of my favorite things to do was help my Daddy in the garden. Even now, John and I have a small garden with just a dozen or so tomato plants, some string beans, sunflowers and hot peppers. Yes, I was a total tomboy. Truth be told, I still am a tomboy.
There was just a 5 minute wait for the ride. Probably because everybody was over at the Soarin' line. When we got off Soarin', I looked over and the wait time was 210 minutes!
I found the hidden Mickey in the bubbles on the waiting line wall. Sorry it's not centered but, like I said, nobody in line so we were rushing through the line:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0432-3.jpg
Here are a few pictures I took while on the ride:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0433-4.jpg

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0439-3.jpg
After riding Living With The Land, we decided I'd run over to Mission Space and get a Fastpass while John and Hunter went to the bathroom and waited on me to get back. Hunter and John are the sloooowest walkers in the world. I often look back and see them lagging behind. So, I am the designated Fastpass getter whenever we go to Disney World.
Next up, the Living Seas With Nemo And Friends.

For ten years straight, we got turned around in Mobile. When I say turned around, I mean we were lost for at least half an hour. We were okay going through Mobile on our way to Florida but coming back towards Louisiana, we always took the wrong exit.
Hunter is definitely my planning buddy too. That's why it was such a feat when we pulled off the surprise. One of the things he said on the trip was something like "I can't believe you planned all this without me."
I'm actually thinking about starting a pre-trip report. But, I am such a good planner that most everything is already taken care of. I am picking up a few things here and there so a pre-trip report would probably be super boring.

OMG we sound like horrible tightwads:scared1::rotfl2:
We're not bad that bad really :lmao:
If you are bad parents, then we are too. We do the same thing. This year, Hunter couldn't decide if he wanted a really big birthday party or a new guitar. He got the guitar and just a few friends over for this birthday.
We know we are oging to Disney World every Summer so our kids save their birthday or special occasion money until it's time for vacation. We also have a large garage sale just before we go too.
Hey! What's wrong with being tightwads?
Subbing to your TR popcorn::.
Hate it that you lost so many pictures, it was good that you got almost 1K back though. I would DIE if all of my pictures disappeared!!!!
Ughhh! I hate that your oldest found out about the report. I found myself wishing I could ask Hunter his opinion several times when I was planning the trip. But, in the end the secret keeping was definitely worth it.
I'm looking forward to TR we're going to be at CBR in December and I can't wait! So far so great!
The CBR is absolutely gorgeous. I am so going to miss it this year. When we started planning our 2009 trip, we had family who thought they would be coming along and they needed a value resort. After we booked Pop, they found out they couldn't go with us. But, we decided to stay at Pop anyway.
I'll have lots more pictures of the CBR posted in my report so stayed tuned.

That has been my one silver lining. Of course, once the oldest DD found out, I had to tell my youngest or face her wrath because she was the ONLY one not in on the secret :rotfl:. Since DH isn't coming on this visit (he is not such the Disney lover) the girls have been helping me decide which restaurants they want to eat at using the DDP.
Your EP pictures inside of the Land were very pretty. I really like that ride and seeing the innovative ways they have come up with to grow things. What I wouldn't do for a TOMATO TREE in my backyard! YUM!!!

I expect to have more of my Epcot day posted later today. We get stuck on Test Track!

Hi! Love the update. Epcot is not one of my most favorite parks, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself when we went with March, even LWTL, which was never a favorite of mine. Unfortunately, we didn't get to ride Soarin'. The line was forever long and no FP left to speak of by the time we got there. Oh, well. Maybe next year! I love the rehabbed SE, though. Totally awesome!
I also wanted to mention that we are traveling in the same circles because I have spotted you on two other threads that I subscribe to: Hello? I'm in the COP and A Northern Girl's TR. Cool, huh?

I thought I'd try to get a bit more of our Epcot day posted while I am on my lunch hour.:thumbsup2
Let's see, oh yeah, I ran over to the other side of Future World and grabbed Fastpasses for Mission Space while the boys used the facilities. When I came back, they were all refreshed and ready to go visit Nemo and friends.
But, first, we decided we needed a snack. A nice refreshing ice cream bar.
We try to take the out of the way paths so we can avoid some of the crowds. Here are a few pics we took while walking over to the ice cream cart.
***DISCLAIMER*** Hunter told me I have to throw this disclaimer in. When I packed his stuff, I forgot to take out the old sunglasses and put in the new ones. So, the ones in some of the pictures are his old ones which are too small for his face. He had some really cool ones at home but I forgot to pack them.
Back to our regularly scheduled trip report. Some pictures we took while walking to the ice cream cart.

We finished up our ice cream and we were feeling refreshed and ready to go see Nemo and friends:

Look at this disgusting looking creature:

and one of him scurrying away:

Most people don't know that there are Kidcot Stops in Future World too:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0429-2.jpg
If there's a computer anywhere, Hunter is going to find it. Kids can take a quiz and their score shows up on the screen. You have the option to email yourself a Certificate showing your score. When we got home, it was waiting on us.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0425-2.jpg
We also saw these jellyfish. Some were so itty bitty tiny that you could barely see them.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0430-2.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0431-2.jpg
We walked around and saw all of the sea creatures and headed over to see Turtle Talk with Crush. Hunter "Dude" got to ask Crush a question and for the life of me I can't remember what it was. But I do remember he had everybody in the audience and Crush laughing. What can I say?
After our visit with Nemo, we went over to see how Figment was. We hadn't seen him in a whole year. He was doing just fine. See:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0440-2.jpg
The line for Honey I Shrunk The Audience was horrible and we still had some time before we could use our Mission Space Fastpasses. So, we strolled over to get a taste of our favorite Coca Cola products. We were thoroughly disappointed that there was no watermelon flavor this time. There was a spot for it on the machine but all said they were out of order.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0442-1.jpg
It was getting close to our Fastpass time so on we went to Mission Space. We really like the intense side so that's the one we chose. I can't remember what our positions were but Hunter's was pilot. We had a lone rider come along for the ride with us and he gladly gave up the position to Hunter.
After our Mission to Mars, we were getting hungry for lunch but decided to go on Test Track since the wait was only 30 minutes. I couldn't believe it. We must have hit it at just the right time 'cause usually the wait is super long by lunch time.
I took a few pictures while waiting in line. Since we had a while to chat, I told my boys that I had to make a bathroom stop as soon as we got off the ride and before we took a lunch break.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0400-1.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0401-2.jpg
By the time we got in our car, I really really had to tinkle. I knew the ride wouldn't take very long and there wasn't anything I could do about it right then anyway. Here's a pic of Hunter and John in the car:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0402-1.jpg
Our car bounced up to the building opening and stopped. "Don't worry guys, the ride will start again in just a minute," somebody announced. "I sure hope so", I said. "I gotta pee!" (Yep Hunter, I stole your line.)
The ride starts and we bounce along for a little bit and then, guess what, it shuts down.....right when we get smack in the middle of the frozen part. Not what I needed...Blasts of cold air and dripping water. We sit there and sit there and sit there.
There were three teenagers in the car with us just laughing and carrying on....totally oblivious to my dire situation. I now feel like one of those little kids that you see squirming and wiggling 'cause they "gotta go real bad!" John and Hunter start laughing at me and I'm frantically thinking what the heck am I going to do? If I pee myself, I guess I am going to have to take the bottle of water and pour it in my lap to "save face". At least that way, I can say I spilled water on myself.
Finally, we get going once again. And, somewhere along the way, I snap these pictures:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0403-1.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0404.jpg
When the ride stops, I tell John and Hunter that they'll just have to find me later or call me on the phone or something because I'm making a run for the nearest bathroom. See ya!

I really like my Kodak Easy Share camera. It's pretty easy to use even when you have an operator like me. The only problem I have with it is setting the date. I am forever trying to get it right.
I was seriously thinking about pouring the water in my lap. Other ideas kept swirling around in my head but I figured there were hidden cameras everywhere and I didn't want to get caught in a "compromising" position.

TT is one I have yet to get my DDs on. In 2006 I was going to ride the single-rider line and it broke down. Seems not much has changed with that ride . I'm crossing my fingers very tightly that I can get them on it this trip, if not it will have to wait until next year when daddy comes along and they feel safer with him than with me.

I love the gotta pee on the ride. I can tell you where the bathroom is too becuase Claire had to go bad as well when we got off and we made the mad dash, of course in all her pee pain she still noticed a toy she wanted as we walked though the gift shop and talked no stop about it till we went back and got it. John really does Disney World but I guess he thinks I talk about it too much so he doesn't ever really express any of his love with me. But, he does like to talk to everybody else about it.
Claire has an eagle eye if she can spot a toy even while in "I gotta pee" mode.

Hunter and Lacey have grown up going to Disney. Hunter especially since he was just 1 on our first trip. Lacey had just turned 11 on our first trip. If it is Disney related, we love it!

So, when I left off, I was running to a bathroom and leaving John and Hunter in my dust. I didn't, literally, run but I sure did some power walking to make it to the nearest bathroom. What was wrong with these crowds? Why aren't they moving outta my way? Don't they know I gotta go? I get to the bathroom and there's a short line. Of course! But, it did move very quickly and I was able to finally make it into a bathroom stall. Disaster diverted! (For now...hint, hint, hint)
I called John on his cell phone and he and Hunter had done the wise thing and simply waited for me at the Text Track exit. I made my way back to Test Track and when I spotted them, I could see them laughing still. Stupid heads!
Even though our tummies were rumbling, we decided that, since we were really near Ellen's Universe of Energy, we'd go there before eating. Does no one take this path to Ellen's?
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0406-5.jpg
After laughing at Ellen's antics, we finally make our way over to the Electric Umbrella. I can't remember what John and Hunter ordered but I know it couldn't have been anything super extraordinary because, well, it was the Electric Umbrella. I ordered a cheeseburger meal. It was tasty until.......
Now, I told you guys that I had diverted one disaster but you'll also remember that I gave a "hint, hint, hint". Here it comes.....
We're eating our food and talking about heading over to World Showcase when I feel a pop in my mouth and I hear a "ding, ding, ding". Holy Smokes! My temporary crown had fallen out of my mouth and onto the table! I immediately drop my burger and grab for the tooth which is bouncing it's way across the table. What is this? A grasshopper crown?
I had been to the dentist three times already to get a new crown made and the temporary had already fallen out twice. From what the dentist told me, temporaries are always falling out. I asked him what to do if it fell out while at WDW and he laughed and said hopefully it won't but "I hope you pack some super glue." Thank goodness, I really did and it was in the backpack we brought to the park.
John and Hunter are looking at me all crazy like and ask me what I am doing. I hold out my hand and they see a tooth! "Where did that come from?" they asked. "Where the fart do you think it came from?" I shrieked. Then they started giggling and then they started laughing. I mean almost hysterically laughing. Why would my loving family start laughing at me in my time of need? Because the temporary crown was my front tooth! I now had a gapping hole in my smile with just a wire sticking out of my gums. Right now, I am laughing too but I wasn't laughing when I had a tooth in my hand and I'm sitting in the middle of Epcot.
I pick up the backpack and start digging around for my super glue and the trusty ziplock bags I always pack. After putting the tooth in the ziplock bag, I keep digging for the super glue. Don't tell me I didn't put it in the backpack. Just when I was at the point of pouring the entire contents of the backpack on the floor and scrambling around in front of everybody, I found it.
While John and Hunter wiped their eyes, I made my way to the bathroom. Who needs a stinking ole dentist anyway? Who needs my family? I can do this myself. After I get to the bathroom, I realize that I didn't bring in my little mirror and I would have to stand in front of the big bathroom mirror if I didn't go back and get the backpack. I made my way out of the bathroom back to the still laughing fartheads, a/k/a John and Hunter, and went back to the bathroom with my compact. After spending a few minutes sitting on the toilet and balancing the compact on the tissue holder, I got the tooth reattached and it looked quite professional, if I do say so myself.:thumbsup2
Head held high, I go back to the table and smile really big! No gapping hole any more. John and Hunter attempt to apologize but they kept stiffling a grin. By this time, too, I was getting a bit giggly too and all was fine and dandy once again.
(For those of you who are concerned about my putting super glue in my mouth, I really did ask the dentist if it would be okay. He said it wouldn't be the best of things to do but I could do it and it'd be okay until I got back home.)
Next up, our walk around World Showcase in search of a sword.

It's nice that you and your family have such a good sense of humor!
One time my whole family (my parents, my brother & his wife, and Shawn - before babies) went to Disney World. There were too many of us so I was sitting in the back of our SUV on the way to MGM. Well someone cut us off in the parking lot... so when we finally parked everyone jumped out to see who the idiot was. Well they totally forgot about me!! :scared: I needed help to get out of the back of SUV since the door didn't open from the inside. I started laughing so hard... until a few minutes had passed and they still hadn't come back. The laughter slowly turned into tears... not sure really why... I thought it was funny - but something about being locked in a car at Disney World seemed tragic. It was then that I knew how all of those poor little dogs felt. :lmao: About 5 minutes later they all came back laughing...

You know, when I spoke to John at lunch today, he said did you tell them I tried to take your picture. I totally forgot that that was one of the things that made me so mad. He and Hunter really did want to take a picture. Thank goodness the camera was in the backpack.

Hi. I promise I'm not a lurker that is just now posting...I just found your report through another one. It's great!
The last time we went to WDW (Sept. 2007) we tried to surprise my kids, who were 5 and 2 at the time. We made it all the way until the last day, until we finally had to tell them because they thought we were going to visit friends (we'd just moved from the Clearwater, FL area the year before) and I didn't want them to be disappointed when we didn't see their friends.
We're going again this September and it is a surprise again (although if we don't stop talking about it in front of them, it won't be!). I'm not sure how long we'll make it this time, but I'm hoping to at least get to the day we're leaving. At that point I haven't figured out where we're going to tell them we're going because we're taking my oldest's friend too.
It's so much fun to read your report. It's making me more excited to go. :)

On my honor I promise I did not laugh about the fact that your tooth fell out. I actually read in horor knowing the embarassment that you were feeling. I did however switch gears and actually laugh out loud when you wrote that the automatic toilet flushed 2x's when you were trying to fix it! Classic. I bet you wanted to cry at that point - talk about distracting :rotfl:.

I hope that you're able to keep the trip a secret right up until it's time to leave. John and I were a bit stressed out every time we thought about keeping it from Hunter. We go to WDW every year and we always talk about what we are going to do, what we are going to see, what we are going to eat, etc. etc. when we get there. So, to not talk about it was really really hard.
You should start a pre-trip report so we can read all about your "secret keeping adventures". I know I'd be in for the read.

It would have been okay if you did laugh. Seriously. All I could think was "grab that tooth". And then, it hit me.....I have a huge whole in my mouth where my tooth should be. What's Mickey gonna say when he sees my gap tooth smile? Well, that line came AFTER I had the crown back in.
The automatic toilet was almost my undoing. I had to bend/lean forward to see in the tiny mirror so the toilet would flush. Ugggghhh!

I don't know about you guys but most times when I am making a checklist for our Epcot day, it doesn't include: 1) Get stuck on attraction; 2) Almost pee on self; 3) Chase down bouncing tooth; 4) Reattach tooth; 5) Sprinkle tushy with automatic toilet. But, apparently, that's how our Epcot Checklist was looking on our 24th wedding anniversary
So, we've checked off numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 and we're on our way to World Showcase. Not without first stopping at Mouse Gears for a look around. I don't remember if we even bought anything at Mouse Gears but I do remember taking pictures with our cellphone of different things and sending them to Lacey. Since she didn't come along on this trip (or the previous year), we wanted to buy her something and mail it to her. We'd take the picture, send it to her and she'd text back saying "like it" or "not so much".
I gotta tell you, we're not really the kind of people who do the whole, "hey try on that hat and let me take a picture and we'll put it back", kind of people. But, somehow that's what happened this trip:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0444.jpg
Next up on the checklist was Mexico. Hunter spotted a marionette of a Mexican man and bought it. Nice, cheap souvenir. We like to pick up prepackaged snack items in each of the countries and save them to eat while watching Illuminations. In Mexico, we bought some lime flavored candies. We rode the newest version of the boat ride and watched Donald's trip through Mexico. Outside of Mexico, we spotted Donald and one of the three cabelleros and stopped for a picture. Of course, this is one of the missing pics.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0456-1.jpg
While Hunter and I stood in line for Donald, John got a frozen margarita, a churro and a Sprite. All three hit the spot especially since I didn't finish my burger. You know.....popped out tooth and all.:headache:
As we are enjoying our snack, we make our way around World Showcase. In China, we watched the acrobats doing their plate spinning, body twisting show. Amazing! We bought a honeydew melon snack cake and continued on.
In Norway, we rode Maelstorm and giggled when the ride got stuck for a few minutes. Not again! At least this time I didn't have to go potty. I can't remember exactly what snack we bought in Norway.
Of course, we had to stop and take a picture of a troll:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0455-3.jpg
The pictures that I took walking from Norway to Japan are gone with the exception of this one and it's a pretty crappy picture:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0448.jpg
We did pick up our prepackaged snacks in the countries and stashed them in the backpack for our Illuminations "tasting".
When we got to Japan, we knew what we had to do.....buy a sword. For the last three years, Hunter has bought a sword in Epcot. He saves his money all year long and it's the first thing he buys. After that's done, he'll spend whatever money he has left over later in the trip.
After asking the castmember to take just about every sword they had out of the display cases, he ended up with this one. Sorry the lighting is bad but the windows had a yellowish tint to them and the pictures always seem to come out looking like this.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0453.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0454.jpg
When you buy a "real" sword at Disney, you don't get to take it home with you right away. You have to place an order and they'll ship it to you. This year the sword was waiting on us when we got home!
Oh, in Japan, we bought shrimp flavored potato chips.
We left Japan and continued on around World Showcase picking up snacks and looking in every nook and cranny the countries had to offer. I was chosen to participate in the street show in France. I had to sit in a chair and then I had to hold a rope and then they asked me if I wanted to climb on top of the balancing chairs. I don't think so!!!!!:scared1:
We had anniversary dinner reservations at the Rose & Crown and, by the time we made it there, it was still about an hour before our ADR so we kept on walking and went on to Canada. They had honey flavored suckers and those went into our snack stash too.
It was nearing our ADR time so we backtracked to the Rose & Crown but not before we made a pitstop. I've learned my lesson.;)
We checked in and had a wait of about ten minutes before our beeper went off. Hunter waiting:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0457.jpg
I knew that you could request outside seating but they wouldn't guarantee it. We were very happy when they told us we had patio seating. But, we were seated next to the building and the awning would block the view of the higher Illuminations fireworks. Our very nice waitress said there was a special viewing area just to the side of the patio that would be roped off for the Rose & Crown patrons.

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0464-2.jpg
John's appetizer. I am sorry I don't remember the name. It was a cold crab salad. Not super good but not bad either.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0460-1.jpg
I ordered the potato and leek soup and it was so delish that I ate it all without taking a picture.
For our entrees, I had the tamarind glazed pork loin with potatoes.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0461-1.jpg
John ordered the Bangers and Mash:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0462-1.jpg
And, Hunter ordered the fish and chips which were super greasy and mushy.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0463-1.jpg
For dessert, Hunter ordered just a dish of plain vanilla ice cream. No picture.
I ordered the cake with sticky toffee pudding. The cake was a bit dry but the pudding was good.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0466-1.jpg
John ordered the Bailey's Irish something or other. It was sooo strong that you could smell it when they sat it down on the table. John only finished half of it.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0467-1.jpg
I've got to admit we weren't impressed with the Rose & Crown at all. Everything was really bland and had no real flavor to it. But, we are from Louisiana where it's all about hot sauce, spices and gravies. We won't be making any ADRs at the Rose & Crown anytime soon.
Continued in next post.

After we were done with our meal, our waitress told us we could go over to the roped off area any time we were ready. One last sip of our tea and off we went to wait on Illuminations to start. We were some of the first ones in the area so we had a really good place right next to the wall. The roped off section wasn't very large so we were packed in there like sardines by the time Illuminations began. Here are some pictures I took. Sorry they aren't so great but I was still figuring out how to operate the semi-new camera:

Since we had just eaten and didn't have a good place to spread out our snack goodies we found around World Showcase, we decided to save them for another evening. We found a nearby bench and people watched while the exodus of crowds made their way towards Future World. After about 45 minutes, we decided to get our lazy behinds up and go that way too. I took this picture during the walk:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0482-1.jpg
When we got to Future World, the crowds were still exiting the parks in great numbers so we plopped down again near the great big ball...Spaceship Earth.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0485-1.jpg
It was then that we realized we didn't ever get back to ride the newest version. Oh well, an excuse to come back next year. Like we need one.
I tried to take Hunter's picture with his marionette and one turned out like a shadow but I thought it was kinda cool.

John's friend, Mark, calls him all the time to "talk" about what's going on at the cabinet shop John used to work at. And they say women like to gossip. :rolleyes1 It always seems like when we go out of town somewhere, Mark calls. Once, we were at a huge flea market in Texas and Mark called. Another time, we were camping in Arkansas and Mark called. Another time, we went to Baton Rouge and Mark called. Another time, we were in Georgia visiting Lacey and Mark called. You get the idea. So it's a running joke with John and Mark....don't you guys ever stay home? As we are resting our tootsies and letting the crowds pass us by, who calls? You got it! Mark!

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0489.jpg
After John's chat with Mark, we decided to walk on over to the bus stop and ride back to the CBR.
What an eventful first day at Walt Disney World and a romantic 24th wedding anniversary!

Great update, as usual. Glad there were no more incidents with that tooth!
Question: At the Rose & Crown, were there no characters? For some reason, I was thinking there were characters here.
Also, I'm glad that you got to see Illuminations. I've been three times as an adult (went lots of times as a child, but I don't think they had this show way back then) and cannot seem to get there on time. We were standing line for the character meet & greet in March and by the time I got out of there, I'd missed the whole thing! I was sorely disappointed, I tell you!
I haven't seen Fantasmic yet either in DHS. Since they only run it on certain nights now, I missed it too because we weren't visiting on the right days. Bummer.
Well, there's always next year! Can't wait to hear more. I was looking at your pictures and I noticed two things: you and your son really look a lot alike, and secondly, you are so TINY!

Just subbing in!
Oh my goodness your trip report is fun. Very impressive that you kept the surprise and I adore the reaction! I hope to pull off a surprise trip, of any kind, to anywhere lol, for our 2 younger ones one of these days.
Your tooth! Your poor poor tooth! Reminds me of a time a good friend was over and wanting to borrow a dress. She was trying things on and would hold the hangar with her teeth to rezip something she was putting back on the hangar. She had veneers and one of her front tooth's veneer popped off!
She was borrowing a dress for a formal that evening so needless to say she was panicked. You handled your situation with humor and quick thinking, very impressive!
I truly dislike the self flushing toilets. Re-gluing a tooth or not...sometimes you might need to sit there a little while and there is nothing worse than getting sprayed when you aren't done! You are quite the trooper.
You have however reinforced that I have no desire to try Rose and Crown.
Looking forward to more...

I, too, was glad that there were no more mishaps on this day. At dinner time, I didn't bite down on anything with my front teeth. I pulled my bread apart and I cut my meat into little pieces just in case. I did have my trusty super glue handy though.:thumbsup2
The Rose & Crown isn't a character meal. Like I said, we weren't overly impressed but at least we can say we tried it.
We love Illuminations and it's a not to be missed on our list of things to do. (which doesn't include: 1) get stuck on attraction; 2) pee on one self, etc. etc.) We usually spend two days in Epcot and it doesn't bother us if we miss seeing it on one of those days. On this trip, we had just one day in Epcot so we had to make the time.
I planned our whole 2009 trip around Fantasmic because it is only showing on certain days. It's also on our must sees.
Both of my kids started off looking like their daddy. A lot like their daddy but as they get older, they are looking more and more like me. Bless their punkin' hearts. I have always been little but right before this trip, I lost 18 pounds. It wasn't because I wanted to though.
You'll remember that I said I changed jobs. It was super stressful on me because I had worked for the same firm for 25 years and I considered the people there my family. But, I knew that something wasn't right when certain things started happening around the office and I kept hearing bits and pieces of telephone conversations. After a couple of anonymous calls made by a certain someone (insert...me) to certain offices (you can probably figure out who to insert), I found out that a certain Uncle (he wants you:thumbsup2) was gonna come a knockin' on the office door real soon and it wasn't going to be pleasant. After many weeks of counseling at our church, discussions with my husband and many sleepless nights, I knew I had to get out of there or I was going down with the ship too. Hey I ain't the captain! I just swab the deck! So, I jumped overboard! Since the change in jobs, I have gained back the 18 pounds and am back to my old self.
Anywhoo! Sorry for the sob story but sometimes, I still get sad :guilty: and p.o.'d :mad:about the whole thing and I have to vent.
I'll try to get our next day posted soon. Hollywood Studios!

Sounds like you had a great time making your way around the World Showcase. It's our FAVORITE part of Epcot!
Sorry you weren't impressed with Rose and Crown. That's kind of disappointing considering it was your anniversary dinner. :sad2:
Great pics of Hunter in the sombrero...too cute!
Did Mark call on your honeymoon too?? :rotfl: Goodness! LOL!

I'm glad you decided to join in the fun. Keeping the trip a surprise was worth it just to see Hunter's face.
Oh my! Your poor friend. Those are the kinds of situations where you just kick it into survival mode and figure out what to do.
As you can see from the pictures, the food at Rose & Crown looks good. But, it was just so bland. Maybe I should have put some of our Louisiana Tabasco sauce in my backpack.

I hate that I didn't have more pictures to share as we went around World Showcase. I would have remembered more if I had pictures. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Thank goodness John didn't know Mark back when we got married and went on our honeymoon! Funny story though. We were just 18 when we got married and didn't have much money. Our honeymoon was spent in Hot Springs and Petit Jean, Arkansas which is about 4 hours from our house. We were shopping in one of the little shops, turn around and there's one of John's friends from work. Unbelievable!

Vent away! That's what we're here for! I don't blame you: I'd have jumped ship, too. No way would I have went down.
When we went to Disney in March, I went with my parents, sister & niece, no DH to keep me sane. He decided not to go (bummer that I could never convert him). These guys have been countless, countless times, so I just kind of did what they wanted to do, when they wanted to do it. Since they've been so many times, they've seen Illuminations and Fantasmic more times than they care to, I guess, because it wasn't big on their list. Actually, they spent more time eating and snacking and lounging around the room than they spent in the park.
Yes, you can get more done at night after the crowds have dispersed, but I only get to go once a year, so I like to spend a better part of the day IN THE PARKS! Crowded or not. And DS4 had a bit of trouble while in Disney, hence the title on my TR link. I just think in the end it was too much stopping and eating and not enough fun.

Thanks for letting me vent. Every once and a while it feels good to.
The only bad thing about going to Disney with other people is you feel obligated to do everything with them and change your usual schedule around to fit in what they want to do. My sister and niece went with us once and John sworn we'd never go with them again. All they did was talk about going back to the room (this was when we stayed offsite) and how tired they were and couldn't we just come back and see this part later. Ugh!
When we get to our room, we just drop our bags and go, go, go. We are usually in the park from sun up to way past sun down. And that's just perfect for us!
I don't think I could ever see Illuminations or Fantasmic too many times. The parades are a different story. Especially the day time parades. We see them once per trip and that's enough for me. If we miss them, we aren't super bummed about it.
How did you find the buses and walking around the resort? We have a pirates room and I'm hearing horror stories of how far it is and how bad the buses are there.
We never ever had a bad experience with the CBR buses. They were very efficient and we never had to wait long at all. I think our longest wait was the day my husband decided he'd sleep in while we went to Animal Kingdom. Around lunch time, he was ready to come meet us at the park and he wanted on a bus for 30 minutes. But, it wasn't during peak travel time and he didn't know that he could pick up the phone in the bus stop and complain.
I actually timed our walk from Trinidad South where the pirate rooms are and it took me just 6 1/2 minutes to make it to Old Port Royale. That was at a pretty leisurely pace too, not my usual fast walk.
Let me see if I can help you put the size of the resort into perspective. The resort is made up of villages which surround a lake. There is a promenade that goes around the entire lake. The promenade is 1.4 miles long. Old Port Royale food court, main pool, store) is located just about in the middle of the promenade. So, even if you were in one of the furthest buildings, your walk will never be more than roughly 1/2 of 1.4 miles. That's not bad at all.
If you have more CBR questions, feel free to ask. We've stayed there three times and love it!

See, I could do Disney with you guys!
I want to be there from open to close, and maybe a small break in between if I'm stayin onsite, but that's a stretch. I could go all day! And I believe DS4 could handle that too, but he's old enough to know that swimming and eating are keeping him from the parks and that's where he wanted to be also. And how disappointing to get to the park at long forever last, and be told that we were stopping for a snack before we rode any rides! :sad2:
That trip was fun, but it was also a nightmare in a way. :scared1:
Disney can be done in so many ways - I just prefer the fast track. And then for some, it just isn't their thing (like my DH, I'm sorry to say :headache:)

Because of John's epilepsy and the amount of meds that he has to take a day (we're down to 31 now), he sometimes lags in the morning. No worries! I just leave him and he can meet up with us later. Is that bad? :confused3 Nah. Especially, when he doesn't have a problem with it.
I want to go, go, go and Hunter does to. Every year, I say, we'll just spend some down time and relax by the pool. But, when we tried that, I found myself wanting to get up and go somewhere, anywhere 'cause we're in Disney!

Looks like a good ending to a great day! We became one of "those" families who takes pictures in the hats. I figure it saves us bundles of cash! DDs can have the picture and I don't have to have a hat here at the house that they will never wear again except for crazy hat day at school .
We are also another commando family! Last summer, for the first time, I took DDs withOUT DH along for the trip. It was just a quickie 3 day'er (2 in the parks). I tried to take the girls back to the room for a quick dip in the pool. No sooner were they in the pool did they decide they were "boring" (I love it when they misuse that word i.e., "we're boring and want to go back to the Magic Kingdom.") and wanted to go back to the park.
In a few weeks, DDs and I (once again without DH) will be tackling the world for 6 days. I have already warned them that at least ONCE we will be going back to the room so I can do a load of laundry. They're going to "suffer" in the pool and arcade.......:rotfl:

I love the Illuminations photos. Sorry to hear dinner at the Rose and Crown wasn't what you expected, though. It's always a bummer when that happens at Disney, especially expensive TS meals.

For some reason, I just never got into putting the hats on and taking pictures but as you'll see in future posts, I ended up taking lots of pictures with various hats.
As far as commando touring goes, that's us. We do like to build in our breaks during the day but those breaks are in the parks. If we leave the park, we feel like we are missing something. Love the use of "boring"! Hunter used to say "purfuse" instead of "purpose". "Lacey did that on purfuse!"
I hope that you guys have a wonderful trip. I wish my ticker was on just a few weeks.

Hooray that you found the report! I wish my fireworks pictures turned out as well as some of the other posted around on these boards. Like I said, the camera was still semi-new and I really didn't know how to fool around with the settings. I just did the "point and shoot" like the commercials say.:rolleyes1
I was pretty bummed about our dinner at Rose & Crown. Our bill was around $100.00 and it totally wasn't worth it. As a matter of fact, as soon as we made it back to the room, we were looking through our snacks to see what we could find to eat.
The shrimp flavored chips were disgusting! They had a super strong fishy taste to them which was just overwhelming. We ate them and the other snack items later in the week.
Thanks for the compliments on the family.

Just read the tooth "episode". OMG! I would be freaking and my family would be laughing too. I have my front tow teeth, but on each side is a bridge so my fear is one or both fall out someday.
I think I saw your sister when I was there in March. She told me my sweatshort was "perdy" and I think she was missing more than 1 front tooth! LOL! And I think her DH forgot to bring along shampoo! LOL!

Sounds like you need to put super glue on your packing list too! Even though it's been almost a whole year since my tooth went bouncing across the table, I still tote that tube of glue around in my purse.
And, hey, that wasn't my sister's husband, that was her "old man". :lmao:

I am wondering since you said that your camera was semi new...did you ever reformat the card to the camera. Alot of people don;t do this and this is one way that the card will lose pictures. I've heard of it happening a few times now...speaking of which I should reformat all my cards again. I know I did one with the new camera, but not sure if I did the other ones....and can;t remember which one I did, I assume the one IN the camera...but you never know.
My DH seems to have a phone thing going on during vacation too. For one his brother beeps him on the two way part ALL the tiome, and then he always talks to this one guy each vacation as well. He will almost never talk to him, but I swear anytime we go somewhere that when the guy calls.

I may not be from LA but I don't do bland! And I've been to England. Unless you are eating a curry...or fish and chips, well....breakfast is pretty good lol. Kind of a bummer as it's such a lovely location with a Illuminations view, I guess it's a trade off at times, see the show or have better food. I was surprised to get the ADR's I did in Epcot during presidents week at the 45 day mark, not realizing the Illuminations hours had been changed so we ate really well in the WS, twice, but never saw the fireworks.
All that said, I would gladly have a pint at the Rose and Crown :thumbsup2
I love the hat pics btw....I'm not good at taking pictures of the kids when they try them on (trying not to encourage purchases!) but oh, they are obsessed with hats...and masks.
DS10 REALLY wanted that nightmare before xmas one Hunter has on. He had to settle for a Jack charm to put on his necklace instead!
I love how into it all Hunter is. At 12 DSS would have been the same but at 12, DSD is a young middle schooler and wow, once they hit 7th grade, they change. 6th is so much sweeter, sillier and I miss that silly fun side. It sneaks out when DSS16 isn't looking but seeing Hunter reminds me of it.

Just caught up!! from where I left off. I wish I would have realized Ochsner had free internet I would have brought the lap top. I could have really used your update:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:
This would have def. kept me going in a much better mood!
Danny told me I was a grouch:confused3 don't know why.
I only had not had a decent nights sleep since June 6 Sat.
He also told me I was rude and mean to the doctors (the ones who didn't count) they now have these doctors that specialize in staying on the floor and watching patients (I thought that what nurses were for) while their doctors are in clinic, surgery, or home.
I love the update of Epcot! I can't wait to go back!!!! I am now trying to figure out if we could do a Mardi Gras trip instead of Christmas '10. wonder what the crowds are like than:rolleyes1

I knew that you were just joking that's why I planned along with it. As you can tell, we are a bunch of nuts anyway. You never know when to take us seriously. And, like I said before, our life plays out as a big joke anyway so why not just go with it.;)
My sister did show me how to reformat the card to the camera right after I got the camera. I just don't know yet how to work all the different settings. I am working on it though. and hope to have it mastered by the time our August trip rolls around. At least when I take pictures, there are heads on the bodies. If John takes the picture, we are headless. Well, I take that back, since we bought our first digital camera a few years back, his picture taking skills have gotten better. I think it's because he can actually see the people on the screen of the camera.
John hates to talk on the house phone but his cell phone is going all the time. He comes from a large family (6 kids with lots of nieces and nephews) and he has a bunch of friends that he talks to. Plus, we use his cell phone as our company phone. His clients call him on his cell phone more than they do the house phone.
Right now the big thing he and his oldest brother are talking about is how they think my new office is haunted. Yep, haunted. It's a partly renovated hotel that was built in the 1800s. There are a few weird things that go on around here. For instance, my dictaphone powers on and starts running by itself. We have a door that separates two large rooms that just comes open by itself. That, in itself, isn't that creepy but what is creepy is the fact that we have bells hanging on the doorknobs so we know if somebody comes in through that way. But, the bells don't ring when the door comes open by itself. When we open it, the bells hit the door and ring.:confused3
The other back door is a real heavy wooden door and you have to give it a good shove to open it and when it does open, it makes a scraping noise where the wood rubs up against the metal plate on the floor. We'll go back there and the door is open but we didn't hear the scraping/rubbing noise.
We know that it can't be some stranger walking by the "other back door" and opening it because there is a garden/sitting area in the back that is surrounded by a high wooden fence that is kept locked at all times.
Oh, and our bathroom door locks by itself overnight. When we leave, it's unlocked. When we come to work, it's locked. It's a brand new addition to the building since this part of the hotel had just one tiny bathroom which the guests had to share back in the day. We don't know if the ghosts don't like the new addition or what.
Just weird things happening around here but it's not scary.:scared1:

I seriously wouldn't recommend the Rose & Crown. It was just sooo bland to us. I am sure for you Alabamaians (is that a word?) it would be taste that way to you too. I hated that much money out of my pocket and coming away feeling unsatisfied.

My boss has traveled to all parts of the world and he warned me that the food was going to be tasteless. I really don't know if the tabasco would have helped.
This year, we were able to get some really good ADRs and we're going to try a few new restaurants.
I'd never buy one of the hats Hunter tried on. Every time I see one of the kids (and some adults) walking around with one of those big things on their heads, they were sweating like pigs. I wonder why? Maybe 'cause they have a big ole' furry hat on their head!
I really don't think that Hunter's going to change too much. Lacey never went through a phase where she was "too cool" (wait that saying was back in my day:laughing: but you know what I mean) to do something. Both of my kids just love life and spending time with their family and friends. Hunter and Lacey have no problem, whatsoever, hugging us in front of their friends or climbing up in their Mamaw's lap.
I wish you had taken your laptop. I would have loved to put a smile on your face while you were going through such a hard time. I really don't mind when people laugh at our family's antics. Otherwise, I wouldn't have posted them for all of you guys to see. The way I look at it is this....that's just the McBride family and there's no reason to hide it 'cause it ain't gonna change any time soon.
I'm sure you were really "mean" to the doctors and nurses. You were just being "forceful" . That sounds more politically correct.
I hope that you guys can go back during Mardi Gras but from the things I hear over on the Louisiana Walt Disney World Lovers thread, it sounds like all of Louisiana packs up and heads to Disney during that time. It might make for some really big crowds.
I hope to get another updated posted soon. Our next day doesn't include any mishaps so ya'll might get a little bored.

Oh, that is just creepy about your office. You should play a game: leave the bathroom door locked and see if it maybe becomes "unlocked" during the night!
You know, we've talked about doing that.
We moved our offices on a Friday afternoon/evening. We threw everything into the offices that night and were open for business again on Monday morning. We had my office furniture/equipment and my boss's office furniture/equipment put in place but everything else just got thrown into two empty offices. Slowly but surely, we started getting things organized and put in the right place. But, then, when we would look for a certain item, it wouldn't be there. Just little stuff like a stapler or a box of file folders or other things like that. We'd look and they'd be in the one of the two empty offices. Maybe we never took them out of there in the first place?:confused3
I am always hearing stuff bumping around upstairs but I figured it was nothing.
Now that we have doors opening and dictaphones turning on by themselves, we are wondering if the ghosts were moving around the staplers and stuff too? Or walking around above us. Who knows?:confused3

I can't believe I missed two pages! Your TR is great and I'm having a great time reading it. :)
I do have a PTR (it's in my signature), but apparently it isn't very interesting, because the couple of readers I did have left. So now I'm just talking to myself. But that's okay. I talk to myself in real life too...and sometimes I even answer.
We still have a little over 3 months to go, so there's not that much to say right now. Although I get to make ADR's next week (and THANK YOU for your Rose and Crown report. We've never eaten there, but we'll definitely keep it off of the list this time too!).
And I think...I think...we're in double digits TODAY. I think. I have to check, but I think we're at 99 days. Or maybe it's even 98. I'll have to run over to disneyworld.com to check, since my ticker does months instead of days.
I totally know what you mean about going with people. We have the whole family going this time. Well, my brother, his wife, and his baby and my parents (and probably grandparents part of the time). We love to be out all day and all night too, but my brother's already talking about naps for the baby. So we've warned them that we just might "do our own thing" some of the time. To which both my parents and my brother have replied "why would you do your own thing, I thought we were going together?" :sad2: Thankfully we arrive a day before and are leaving a day after everyone else, so we'll get some time in where we aren't following people around.
We've never done the hat-picture-taking thing, but we may just have to try that this time. And I LOVE the "snack collecting" for Illuminations. I always have to get the Rice Candy in Japan and we usually get raspberry candy and gummies in Italy, but I've never done it with all of the countries. Definitely going to try that this time.
The possible ghosts in your office just creeps me out. You have such a great sense of humor, though.
I can't wait to hear more. I'm hooked!
P.S. We'll be lucky if we can manage to keep the surprise until September. We're taking a friend of my son's and his mom said something about it last night. I looked at her :scared1: and said "It's a secret!" and she just said "They didn't hear me". Which they didn't. But, my older DS has heard us talking recently when we thought he wasn't listing. He blurted out "I want to ride Expedition Everest with Cole!" I just said said "When would we be going to Disney World at the same time as Cole?" I'm hoping he's forgotten the incident.

Glad you're all caught up again. I'm happy that I can keep everybody entertained while they wait on their next WDW trip.
I'm gonna go right over and join in on your report. I don't want you to keep talking to yourself all the time.:rotfl: Not that I think there's anything wrong with that. (Do you guys remember the Seinfeld where they kept saying that?") Seriously, I talk to myself all the time. Especially when I am searching for something or when I'm trying to figure out just the right way to word a legal document.
It's always a super good feeling when you hit the double digits in your countdown. My husband laughs at the way I count things down. I don't count today because, well, it's already here. And, I don't count the day we leave because, well, it's the day we leave. I just count the days in between.:thumbsup2
Yea! You get to make ADRs soon. Once my ADRs are made, I do a sign of relief. Those really stress me out.
The snack collecting is a great way to get the entire family involved in exploring World Showcase. A lot of the stuff we come out with get sa "thumbs down" but some do get a "thumbs up". It's a neat thing to do.
I hope that you're able to keep the surprise trip a secret for as long as possible. I'm telling you, it was hard for us to keep it for just a month.

No problem. My husband is supposed to come over and work on a few things here at the office and, when he does, it's going to be in the afternoon/evening. He wants me to come over with the camera and take pictures like they do on the ghost shows.

Our Epcot day had been an "eventful" :lmao: one but we still had a wonderful day at the park. We were pleased that we were able to see and do as much as we did. Still, we would have loved to have had another day in Epcot but, alas, it wasn't to be this go round.
After John had "chatted", a/k/a gossiped, with Mark for a while, and most of the crowds had already filtered out of the park, we walked to the CBR bus stop. The Pop Century stop was beside the CBR stop and I saw a lady standing in the Pop line and she had a lime green Mickey head on her backpack. I punched John in the side and said "hey there's a diser!". I walked over to her and said "I'm a diser too!" . I hate that I can't remember her user name or I'd say hello again. I didn't get to say much because the CBR bus pulled up right then. That was the first time in two years that I'd seen a diser at the park so I was excited.
The bus ride to the CBR was short and when we got to our room, we got ready for bed and plopped down. I think it took a total of two minutes for us to fall asleep that night. We were bushed from all the driving to WDW, running to the bathroom and chasing a tooth.
The next morning, Stitch called and woke us up bright and early. When I say us, I mean me. The two boys never even heard the telephone and didn't move a muscle. I decided to let them sleep while I jumped in the shower.
It didn't take much nudging to get Hunter up, into the shower and dressed. Now that he was all wide eyed and bushy tailed, Hunter, was ready for his standard breakfast.....a Little Debbie Fudge Round. I know, I know, that's not the most nutricious breakfast item but that's all the boy wants in the morning. Not cereal, not toast, not pancakes, a Fudge Round.
While Hunter was getting his daily dose of nutrients , I started the long process of waking John up. Because he has epilepsy, he has to take a handful of medicine every night so his medicine levels are maintained over the long nighttime period. Seizure medications make him super groggy and, if he's not moving around, he can go to sleep in no time at all. Still, it's better than having a seizure so we deal with it. Okay, enough details, John eventually got up, showered, dressed and had his morning cup of coffee.
And we were off to catch a bus to Hollwood Studios! Toy Story Mania here we come! One of the things that I really like about the CBR, is the fact that each village has their own bus stop so you're never far from one. Super convenient. We arrived at the bus stop a little before 9:00 a.m. After just an 11 minute ride, we pulled into the Hollywood Studios bus stop. The park had just opened and we had a mission.....to make Toy Story Mania our first ride of the day.
First picture of the day:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0503-1.jpg
And then we get to here
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0504-2.jpg
and a castmember stops me....
"Can I help you find something?"
"No thanks, we know where we are going."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes m'am. We're headed to Toy Story Mania."
"Well you're going the wrong way."
"We really do know where we are going. Thanks anyway!"
"You really are going the wrong way!"
I don't mean to be rude or sound like I don't want a castmember's help but we were in a hurry and the last time I checked, we WERE going the right way AND we were ahead of most of the crowds! Duh! Stop talking to me so I can get to Toy Story Mania! After going the "wrong" way, we arrived at Toy Story Mania and the wait was only 20 minutes.
I took these pictures while we waited. I think I took more but they are probably among the lost photos.

The wait for the ride was probably a little bit long than 20 minutes but well worth it. We absolutely loved it. Here's a picture of mine and Hunter's scores. His is the highest one.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0512-2.jpg
I'm so glad that Lacey is going on our August, 2009 trip with us. It's kind of hard when you have a party of three. Hunter has to decide if he wants to ride on his own, or with me or with his Dad because many ride vehicles won't hold three people. When Lacey's with us, we can do two-and-two.
Hunter really wanted to get chosen for Jedi Training Academy so we went there next. We waited and waited and waited and Hunter was really close to the stage but.....he didn't get picked. Bummer! Instead of waiting around for the whole show, we decided to go over to Indiana Jones. The guests were already entering the theater and it was nearly full but the castmember kept telling people to go in. We got in the line and we waited along with everybody else while they tried to fit more and more people into the theater. When they finally let us in, it was standing room only.

Hunter was really into Indiana Jones around the time we went to WDW and one of the things he wanted to spend his money on was an Indiana Jones hat. It took forever to find one to fit him but he finally found one. I'll post a picture of it later on.
I'll continue on tomorrow. My ghost hunter show is coming on and I've got to pick up some tips on uncovering the ghost in my office.:thumbsup2

I just realized that I should have told you guys that I wrote the most recent update last night but then found out I couldn't post it because the boards were down. So, I copied it and pasted it in this morning.
I'll try to post more this evening. Hunter and I are on the way to the mall again today. I've got to try and find gifts for Lacey and her other 14 classmates. I'm thinking something engraved with "MGMC Class of 2008-2009" but I'll just have to wait and see what they have and how much the cost will be.:scared:
And, I have to stop by the office before heading to the mall because my boss bought his sister a birthday gift and can't remember where he put it. I offered to go by the office and see where he put it. Or maybe......the ghost(s) moved it around?!?!

GREAT update. I really enjoyed TSM too. We were lucky enough to get some FP's late in the morning the day we went for an afternoon ride, so we ended our day with that ride before heading to HDDR.

Did you have a TON of pictures in your PTR? I found the ones that get alot of hits seem to be the ones that start out with alot of pictures in the first couple of posts. People like to know who you are and also see your interests or past Disney pictures.
Also I am going to check out you TR, but I did see that you have ALOT of writing between pictures...another thing I have noticed is the more pictures the better. Yes I want to know the details, but I want to see the pictures that go with it it too. Thats jsut what I have noticed about the ones that get alot of hits.
I'll try to catch up on yours in the next day or so. :thumbsup2

One other thing MICKEY4EVER, in your intro post, you don't introduce yourself or anyone else, so that makes it harder to follow. Maybe edit it a bit and put the dates, the "cast" and stuff like you are driving there and maybe where you are from. Just reading the first couple of paragraphs I am a little lost. Also maybe add a picture of you and DS so people can get a feel for who theyr are reading about right away. Of course these are suggestions, but I actually pass up most TR's if they don't start out with that kind of stuff.
Ok, no more hyjacking of the thread...I promise! :cutie:

Great update! Your pictures of the Indiana Jones show are AMAZING!! Very, very nice!
Did the CM who tried to tell you that you were going the wrong way not know you were a DISer!! :confused3 Not only do we know WHERE we are going, we've planned out HOW to get there in the most efficient way, where we are going NEXT, and how long we should have to wait once we DO get there! She did NOT know who she was messin' with! :rotfl:
I LOVE a good ghost story..although I have to admit I'd be a little creeped out. Whenever we watch those types of shows, I make Jeff leave the lights on when we head to bed and walk me to the bathroom if I need to go! LOL! ;)

After having the tooth fall out two times before we ever left for vacation, I knew I had to have a backup plan just in case. Thank goodness I did! Super glue to the rescue!!!!!:rotfl:
I was upset that my pictures of Illuminations didn't turn out any better. This was the first time that I had used my camera at night and I was still tinkering with the settings.
I thought the Indiana Jones pictures were pretty good too. I had several more but thought I'd bore you guys with too many.
LOL! ;)
Thanks for the compliment. Like I said above, I took more pictures of the Inidiana Jones show 'cause Hunter was really really into Indiana Jones at the time. I like the action ones.
I swear I was ready to just punch the CM and run off. The lady was doing nothing but delaying me from getting to the first thing on my list of "must sees". :scared: Oh I knew where I was going alright and I was on a mission to get there. Seriously though, I appreciate that the CM was just trying to do her job but help somebody else please.
I like to watch the ghost hunter shows and usually don't get too creeped out by them. One of the shows has actually come to our town to investigate a museum (a little one) and a castle (yep we have a castle albiet a semi-small one). So far, the show hasn't made it to the airwaves and I don't know if it will. My sister's friend is the curator there and told my sister that they don't want it getting out that it's haunted because they are afraid it would hurt their business. Our town is not a huge metropolis and every business needs every patron they can get.

And your a ghost hunter??? Can you get any better?? :worship:
need to hear more about that as well :)
Thanks for the praise! I'll take it any way I can get it.:lmao:
I went by the office before heading to shop today. I found the gift that my boss was looking for. I swear, you guys, when I last saw it, it was my bosses office on one of the bookshelves behind his desk. Hunter and I looked all over the place and I finally went into one of the "junk" offices to look. It was in there! Under the desk pushed way underneath where the office chair slides in. I had to crawl under to get to it. I know neither one of us would have put it way back there.:confused3

Yeah! You're hear. I'm glad that I was able to give you a chuckle or two.
My boss forewarned me that United Kingdom food was just so-so. But, it was the only place I could get an ADR for on our anniversary. Oh well....live and learn.

When I left off, we had just seen Indiana Jones and Hunter was shopping for a hat. After much trying on, he found just the right one and was ready to head to Star Tours. I decided that, since I was the designated Fastpass getter, I would go over and get Fastpasses for Rock n' Roller Coaster while John and Hunter rode Star Tours. So, we parted ways for a little while.
I wish I could remember what time the Fastpasses were for but I can't right now. I do remember that it was for pretty late in the day because we rode it before we ate dinner and got in line for Fantasmic. Fastpasses safely tucked away in my wallet, I started back to meet up with my boys. But, not before stopping at a potty. I saw this on the bathroom door lock and thought it was so hilarious. I just had to take a picture. Look closely at what it says......"Hiney Hidders"!.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0548-1.jpg
I called John on the cell phone and they were doing some window shopping in Star Tours. They had also let Hunter try to get picked for Jedi Training again since a session had just started when they got off Star Tours. No luck!
So, we got in line for Star Tours again since the wait was just 5 minutes. I don't know if it's just pure luck but we have never had a wait longer than 10 minutes for this attraction. Here are a few pictures I took while walking through. I had to take them fast because there were a few people coming up behind us.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0577-1.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0578-1.jpg
Next up on our list? Muppet Vision 3D. John loves this attraction. Why? First of all, he loves it when Miss Piggy kicks the rabbit out of her way. Brutal? Yes, but it loves that part. The second reason? Because it's nice and cool in the theater and with those 3D glasses on, you can't see that he's taking a short nap. I told you he could go to sleep anywhere/anytime.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0573-2.jpg
After seeing the Muppets and John taking his late morning snooze, we realized we were hungry and Hunter really wanted a Toy Story Pizza Planet pizza. Well, so did everybody else in the park. When I say there wasn't an empty table, I mean there wasn't an empty table. Hunter stood in line with me while John walked around looking for a place to sit. John called me about 15 minutes later (I still hadn't even ordered yet.) and said he had a table outside. After I finally placed our order, it took no time at all for our food to be ready. Sorry, no pictures of the pizzas and salads.
While we ate, I took our a show schedule and saw that the Lights, Motor, Action Show was going to start in just 20 minutes. We gobbled down the last bit of food and headed right there. When we got to the theater, the castmembers were rushing us through saying if we didn't hurry, we wouldn't get in. Whew! We just made it.
I took tons of pictures. I won't post them all but it's still a lot. Sorry! If you don't want to see them all, scroll down.

I'll get another installment up later today.

I'm hoping to get another installment up in just a bit. I don't know if I could make it all the way to September. We are used to going to Disney the last week of May/first week of June. This changing it to August is making it soooo hard to wait.

I love all of the Disney shows. Well, with the exception of the new Nemo show at Animal Kingdom. I can't figure out if I need to look at the people or the puppets. But, then again, I am easily distracted.;)

The Lights Motor Action show is a definite must see on our list. Even though I'm not a big car/motorcycle fan it's a great show.
I'm glad you pointed out your pre-trip report link to me. If it had been a snake it would have bit me!

Wow this thread moves fast. It's a good thing I'm starting to head over to the DIS every couple of days at least!
Okay, before I go any further, I HAVE to know what Jedi Training Academy is, and if there are any age limits (on the old or young side). I'm already afraid that we're going to being spending A LOT of time at Hollywood Studios once my boys see/remember Star Tours (THANKFULLY this is a 40" height restriction, so Christian is tall enough), but I may never be able to drag them away from something called Jedi Training Academy.
CREEPY story about the present....
I can't WAIT to ride Toy Story Mania. I love Buzz Lightyear at MK and so do the kids. This wasn't open last time we were there in September 2007. It's SUCH a pain to live so far away that we can't go 3-4 times a year like we used to.

Let's see if I can finish up our Hollywood Studios in this post.
We leave the stunt show and decided to head on over to the Backlot tour. I took some pictures along the way.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0513-1.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0514-2.jpg
Hunter had on his birthday button and a castmember who was walking by grabbed Hunter by the arm and started dancing the "birthday dance" with him. Then, he yelled really loud "Everybody, stop what you're doing. We are about to sing Happy Birthday to Hunter." I couldn't believe how many people stopped and sang Happy Birthday. Hunter thought that was the coolest. I took a couple of pictures which were, of course, lost.
I don't remember where John and Hunter went but I was sitting on a sidewalk waiting for them and I saw this sneaky little squirrel. He was right beside one of those little outdoor stores/vendor thingies. He ran up the metal bar of the candy/nut hanging display rack and proceeded to help himself to a package of nuts that was in the back. These are side shots. The cashier was to the right in the pictures. He really knew what he was doing.

We get to Backlot Tour, it's closed.:confused3 Oh well, John doesn't really like the Backlot Tour anyway. Next up was Voyage of the Little Mermaid. We really like this show even though it's the same each and every time. Guess what happened? Yep, you guessed it. John took a nap.
On to the animation building:

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0581.jpg
Outside of the Great Movie Ride, Hunter found Pee Wee Herman's handprints:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0579-1.jpg
The wait time for Great Movie Ride was 5 minutes. We walked all the way down to the front and didn't wait even a minute before the doors opened. What great timing.
I really wish I had pictures because they help me remember everything that we did during the day. Darn it! We did some window shopping and sent pictures of items to Lacey for her "yes" and/or "not so much" approval/disapproval.
After shopping, it was getting close to our Fastpass time to ride Rock n' Roller Coaster. Yes, I took some pictures along the way and the outside of Rock n' Roller Coaster and, no, I don't have them. They were lost. Ugggghhh! Hunter has been riding Rock n' Roller coaster for two years (in 2008) and every time, he gets nervous and says I really want to leave. When we get in the car, he wants to lock his arm with mine but I try to tell him you've got to hang on to your harness. Thank goodness I have long arms! Once the ride takes off, he loves it. He just doesn't like the take off. John and I could ride this ride over and over and over again. It's so awesome.
We still had some time to kill before it was time to get in line for Fantasmic and it was then that we realized we were hungry. Since Catalina Eddie's was the closest, we ordered our food from there. It was nothing outstanding (nothing really is in Hollywood Studios:confused3) but it hit the spot.
We got a pretty good seat in the Fantasmic theater and, as usual, the show was spectacular. Love love love it!
Oh, here's a picture of Hunter's Indiana Jones hat. Bless his heart, it was hot outside and he was sweating but he wasn't taking that hat off.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0586.jpg
Was the theater crowded? Heck yeah!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0584-1.jpg
A few pictures. You know the drill.....took lots, lost lots.

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0592-1.jpg
Once the show was over, we let the crowds thin out before we ever even thought about leaving the theater. As we finished off our Hollywood Studios day, we stopped and took a few pictures of Hunter and one of Hunter and his best buddy.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0595.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0594.jpg
We were hot and tired but loved every minute we spent at Hollywood Studios. We forgot we had packages at package pickup and were just about to walk out the gates when it hit us. So, we backtracked a little and picked up our package. I had a certificate stapled to the outside of the package. I had been chosen as Guest of the Hour and I had a certificate and Tinkerbell pin to prove it! Yeah for Year of a Million Dreams!
When we got to the CBR bus stop there was only one family in front of us. As a matter of fact, we were the only two families at the bus stop. Just as the bus pulled up, a few other people strangled in. After a long hot day, the air conditioned bus was nice. And, we didn't have to stand. Sweet!
After just a short bus ride, we arrived at the CBR and, again, we were happy that our bus stop was a short walk to our room. Because we were all sweaty, we decided to take showers at night instead of the morning. Maybe we would make rope drop tomorrow after all.;)

The squirrel that is too much...you seem to pick up on it all, I look at the bigger picture to see the small details; I really need to slow down.
We did catch the Nemo show...I had watched an interview w/the puppeteers they said you are suppose to watch both the puppet and the puppeteer if that helps...it did help me, I was a little taken aback when one of the people started singing w/o his puppet --lol!! I have to day I did enjoy it and Ashton did too!! Can't wait to see what he does next year.

 Way to go. I have until August 12th to pay mine off. I have never sold anything on ebay, but I have bought a lot :).
I just looked at my ebay selling and I have $77.00 selling right now. So, I know I'll have at least that much more to pay on our vacation.
Back when Lacey traded for the Disney pins, I bought a lot of great pins from a guy on ebay. I talked with him the other day and he has actually quit his job and had gone to ebay full time. He bought three warehouses of Disney stuff and is making a living on ebay.
Wow this thread moves fast. It's a good thing I'm starting to head over to the DIS every couple of days at least!

We have until August 5th to pay ours off. We're down to $220. I wish I had something like Ebay to pay for it. And I really wish I could figure out where my "spending" money was coming from. What do you sell on Ebay?
Jedi Training Academy takes place near the entrance to Star Tours. About a dozen kids are chosen from the crowd to come on stage and get Jedi training. They are given robes and lightsabers (sorry, they gotta give them back at the end). And, then.....dun, dun, dun (that's music if you're wondering what that is:lmao:) Darth Vader comes out and each kid gets to fight him with their lightsaber. Hunter tried to get chosen but never did.
On our last day at WDW, we had a day left on our ticket and we went to Hollywood Studios strictly to see if Hunter would get chosen. He did....on our third try. I'll post lots of pictures later on in my report.
Oh, the kids ranged in age from about 4 to 14 or so.
We were pleasantly surprised by the August crowds. They didn't seem to be as bad as the May/June crowds. But, we took advantage of the buy 4/get 3 free promo this year and I'm afraid that's what a lot of other people are doing too. Maybe it won't be toooo crowded.
Right now, on ebay, I am selling mostly yarns and jewelry making supplies. At times, I have scrapbooking items, soap making supplies, books and other goodies. I don't make a ton of money but it helps pay for our WDW vacation and puts extra spending money in our pockets.

:thumbsup2
Hey, there! I've seen you on the thread, but I thought I'd post here as well. That was my first TR, so I am a little new at it. I also didn't join Photobucket until after I had already started my TR and I wasn't really sure if I wanted to post pics or not. Then I got asked for pictures and had to put them in where I could. I may go back and add in some more. And I might need to re-read the introduction and do a re-do to make it easier to follow. Thanks for your advice!!!! I REALLY appreciate it!!! :flower3:

I really don't think that Hunter's going to change too much. Lacey never went through a phase where she was "too cool" (wait that saying was back in my day:laughing: but you know what I mean) to do something. Both of my kids just love life and spending time with their family and friends. Hunter and Lacey have no problem, whatsoever, hugging us in front of their friends or climbing up in their Mamaw's lap.
How wonderful! I really hope my DS is like this too as he gets older. My DH definitely had the "too cool" attitude in high school so I'm not going to allow him to influence DS too much. :rotfl:

Hey everybody! I'm trying to get around to responding to all the posts. I'm glad you guys are still around for the fun and that I have newbies to my thread.
I've noticed that a few of you are staying at the CBR for the first time. So, until I can get a new installment up, I thought I'd post the CBR information that I've compiled over our three stays.
Here it goes:
Before we booked our first stay there, I read all the info on the boards and wasn't too concerned 'cause we were going to be in Disney and we wouldn't be spending too much time at our resort. One thing I couldn't find on the boards was a very detailed report about the room, the food court, the pools, etc. I wanted to know what kind of furniture the rooms had. I wanted to know if I would see bunnies at the resort. I wanted to know if the buses ran regularly. I wanted to know what kind of food was served in the food court. I wanted to know everything!
So, I decided that I would make notes during my stay and come back and post everything I could about the CBR.
We have stayed at the CBR three now and absolutely loved everything about it! A stay at the CBR is like two vacations in one. You get a Disney vacation but you also get a nice beach vacation.
The resort is a large resort but that means that the guests are spread out and you don't feel crowded. You will check in/out at the Custom House which is at the front of the resort. Some people don't like the fact that it's located away from the other resort buildings but think of it this way....more than likely, you won't have to visit the Custom House more than twice during your stay...once to check in and once to check out. If you do need to visit the Custom House and don't want to walk, you can always take the internal shuttle bus.
The resort is made up of several different villages. Each village has several "clusters" of buildings that are all painted bright colors. For instance, Jamaica buildings are yellow and Martinque buildings are blue. There is a promenade/walkway that connects each of the villages and makes a complete loop around the resort lake. The walk around the promenade is just 1.4 miles all the way around. We really enjoyed talking walks around the promenade and checking out the landscaping and the other buildings. There's an abundance of gorgeous flowers and bushes and, yes, you'll see all kinds of birds, bunnies, squirrels and lizards.
There are several different views at the CBR. There are standard view rooms which means you could be overlooking either the parking lot or a courtyard and then there are the water view rooms. The water view rooms mean you will either be overlooking the lake or the pool. In my honest opinion, I wouldn't pay the extra money for a water view room. I would book a standard view room and ask for a courtyard view. The courtyards are really pretty with umbrella tables and benches. Even the parking lot views aren't all that bad since the landscaping is lush and dense. Your parking lot view will most likely be obstructed by trees anyway.
You can also pay an extra fee for a preferred location. The preferred locations are situated near Old Port Royale (main pool/food court/store, etc.) We don't mind walking so we never pay for a preferred location.
Now, the walk around the promenade is 1.4 miles and Old Port Royale is located almost smack in the middle of the promenade. This means no matter where your village is located, you are never more than half that far to Old Port Royale. We actually like the walks to and from our villages (Jamiaca once and Martinque twice) to Old Port Royale.
It's quite easy to get turned around a bit in the different villages. The paths weave in and out and you can take a wrong path and end up at the wrong building. I'm not saying you'll wander around and around forever. You'll just need to pay attention the first few times you leave your room so you'll get familiar with the pathways.
Each of the villages has their own laundry facility, quiet pool and beach. The laundry facilities are right next to the quiet pools so it's easy to swim and wash your clothes at the same time. The white sandy beaches are beautiful. The beaches have hammocks and beach chairs and some even have small playgrounds and volleyball nets. You can see higher Epcot fireworks from some of the beaches and you can definitely see them from Old Port Royale.
While I am on the subject of the buildings, I will go ahead and give you information on the rooms. The rooms are 340 square feet and will have either a king size bed or two full size beds. We have four in our group so we have always had the rooms with two beds.
The bedroom section of the room also has a nightstand in between the beds and a table with two chairs. Above the table is a large mirror. The dresser that holds the television has large and small drawers.
The refrigerator is enclosed in the dresser. Don't be surprised if your refrigerator doesn't feel like it is cooling. If this happens to you, just simply open the door of the cabinet and give the refrigerator some breathing room. This happened to us during two of our stays. The first time, we called maintenance and they told us to do this but they also gave us another refrigerator. They never took out refrigerator number one so we ended up with two refrigerators which was a plus for us. (the other one started cooling great when we opened the door). So, every morning when we left, we just left the door of the refrigerator cabinet open when we left. Sometimes, mousekeeping would close the door back, sometimes they wouldn't. I think they know why we left it open.
Also in the bedroom section of the room, will be a large padded bench. Underneath the bench is a large drawer which is great for storing all your large bags of souveniers. Above the bench is a peg shelf where you can hang your backpacks, hats, etc.
In the sink/closet area, there is a semi-large closet rod which will probably have about a dozen wooden hangers on it. We brought along some extra wire hangers and just left them there when we checked out. There was more than enough room to hang our clothes. There is a long shelf above the rod too. Also in this section is a iron and ironing board. A small safe is in the wall just behind the privacy curtain. It's small and thin and won't hold much but it's okay for storing your extra money, wallets, small games, etc.
The two sinks are enclosed in a wooden cabinet which has two storage areas. Two sinks are a real plus in our book. Comes in real handy when everybody is trying to get ready at once.
The toilet and bathtub/shower are in a separate room from the sink/closet. There were no loose tiles or mold in our bathroom 'cause I checked. The size is about the same as a typical motel/hotel bathroom.
You will find that a hairdryer, coffeepot and alarm clock are all standard in the CBR rooms. I, personally, don't use the hairdryers because I need more power to dry my hair but my husband and son don't mind them.
Mousekeeping always did a fine job cleaning the room. They would replinish the toiletries and the towels/washclothes daily. Disney will not change your linens every day. If you want your sheets changed, you will need to leave a note for them or simply take the sheets off the bed and put them in a pile near the door.
If you want to sleep in one day, just leave your Do Not Disturb sign on the door and mousekeeping will leave you a big bag containing towels, washclothes and toiletries.
The air conditioners worked very well. There were not the old loud clunkers you'll find elsewhere. They were actually pretty quiet and sometimes it got downright cold in our room.
Bus service at the CBR was efficient during both of our stays. The longest wait we ever had was about 20 minutes and that was because we just missed the Epcot bus. I mean we, literally, saw it driving away while we were walking across the parking lot. It also wasn't during peak travel time, it was mid-morning.
Oh yeah, each village has their own covered bus stop too. This means that the buses will make a complete round around the resort before leaving the resort. I never found this to be a problem but some people don't like it. The villages of Jamaica and Martinique are the starting points for the bus pickup/drop off. Since there are two bus entrances to the resort, the first stop depends on which entrance the bus used.
As I said before, there is an internal shuttle bus that will take you around the resort if you don't want to walk. Just go to the nearest bus stop and wait for one to come around and pick you up.
In the middle of the lake is an island complete with picnic tables, hammocks and benches. It was a nice place for us to go and sit and listen to the Caribbean themed music.
The main pool was under rehab during our most recent stay but we did peak through the construction walls to get a glimpse. From all of the recent reviews and pics, the new pool is outstanding.
Banana Cabana is the CBR's pool bar and is situated in the seating area around the main pool. There are lots of umbrella tables so you could purchase a nice frozen drink and sip it while relaxing.
Old Port Royale is home to the arcade, store, package pickup, Shutters and the food court. Let me start with the arcade. It's not really big but it's not small either. There were enough games to handle the June crowds. You simply purchase a refillable game card and play to your heart's content. The refillable card was a cute souvenier for our scrapbook too.
The store is divided in two with one side selling tropical and pirate themed items and the other selling the more traditional Disney merchandise. One of the unique souveniers that can be found at the CBR are the coconut postcards. They are actual coconuts with mailing labels on them. You can either mail it to your friends and family or you can take one or two home with you.
Package pickup is located in the right hand side of the store. You will also find magazines, sundries, snacks, drinks, etc. near the package pickup desk.
We were pleasantly surprised by the food court selections. The food court is divided into different stations. You simply line up, order your food and then go to a central cashier to check out. The grab n go section was our favorite. There, you will find lots of fresh bakery items (muffins, breads, cakes, cookies, etc.), fresh fruit, yogurt, jellos, sandwiches, salads, drinks and snacks. Another section has fresh tossed salads, pizza, pasta and breadsticks. You'll find a variety of deli sandwiches at another station. Of course, Disney has to have a burger and hot dog station as that is their main staple. At dinner, the last station serves rotissiere meats and vegetables.
During the morning hours, the menus include bakery items, Mickey waffles (with or without fruit), pancakes, omelets, eggs, biscuits and breakfast meats. At the grab n go section, there are assorted cereals and bakery items.
The seating area of the food court was fairly large. We never had a problem finding a table. The drink station has a variety of drinks to choose from. We didn't purchase the refillable mugs because we drive and are able to bring along extra water, drinks, milk, etc.
There are two microwaves and toasters in the food court and are available for guests to use. The condiment counter had lots of jams, jellies, sauces, etc.
If you guys have time, you might want to consider rentng the surrey bikes from the marina. They are a fun way to see the resort. They are built for four people and are so cute. The marina also rents small watermice and pontoon boats. The lifejackets are available in assorted sizes and are free to use.
Lets see, did I forget anything? I don't think I have but if you think of something that I didn't answer, just post it and I'll try to provide a response. If I don't know the answer, I know that some of the other avid CBR fans will be able too.
Hope this helps!

Great Updates!!!:thumbsup2 I love all the pictures of Lights,Motor,Action show. We saw it for the first time in April and loved it!!! That's so awesome that the CM had everyone sing "Happy Birthday" to your son. What a great thing to do!! I'm sure it made your son's day.:goodvibes We have never seen Fantasmic before but really want to try to on our trip in August. Great pictures!!!
Can't wait to read more......popcorn::
I only posted about half of the Lights, Motor Action show. At least those were some of the pictures that were retrieved.
Hunter thought it was really cool that everybody stopped to sing to him. What a great castmember!
You gotta see Fantasmic. It's a truly awesome show.
Great updates!!! Congrats on just about being paid...that is a wonderful feeling!!!
I love it when you get down to just the last few hundreds of dollars on paying the trip off. I know I always feel like at least if something happens around the house, I can still find a couple of hundred dollars somewhere.
We are going to give the Nemo show another try because Lacey hasn't seen it. But, to us, the show was just....well....weird.:confused3
I love the squirrel pics.
Me too! For the first few years that we went to Disney, we concentrated on seeing and doing everything we possibly could. Now that we have 13 trips under our belt, I try to find the out of the ordinary things. This squirrel was out of the ordinary thing this trip. Crafty little thing.
I just found your trip report and you can count me in! We too are going this August (15th-23rd). I loved the surprise, all the pee pee stories, laughed out loud at the tooth(could have been worse...my friend swallowed hers!!!) and got a chuckle out of the nut thief...I can't wait for more!
Oh and bonus.....I love the ghost hunter story thrown in as an extra treat!!!
Thanks for joining in. August can't get here soon enough. We will be there August 6th through the 15th.
I'm glad I was able to provide you with a few chuckles. We are a funny bunch of folks and we don't even try.
Just found your TR and finished catching up. Wow what fun so far. So you stay at CBR alot. This upcoming trip will be our first time. We normally like POR
But we are trying something new.
What a great time. That is great that so many people stopped to sing to Hunter.
I can't wait to read more. :goodvibes
Yeah, the CBR is a great resort. We wanted to try something new this year and we thought we'd have family traveling with us (they needed a value resort) so we chose to book a stay at Pop. I'm sure gonna miss the CBR though.
Sounds like a great day at DHS! And ending with Fantasmic...what could be better?!
Cute squirrel pictures...that sneaky little thing!
There's nothing better than ending a hot and tiring day with a fantastic Disney show!
Wow, I haven't read in a while and I missed 8 pages! Great TR; love the toilet and tooth stories and your ablility to laugh at yourself. I thought things like that only happened to me.:upsidedow
Glad you liked TSM. It was being built on our last trip so I can't wait to try.
BTW, I just booked a ressie for 9/19-27 at CBR; it's our first stay there. I hope we like it. I can't wait!:woohoo:
I'm glad you're all caught up. Oh, if some kind of crazy thing is gonna happen, it's gonna happen to me! It's like I am a mishap magnet or something.:rotfl:
The CBR is a great resort. I'll be posting more pictures that I took of the resort soon.

Oh, that is just creepy about your office. You should play a game: leave the bathroom door locked and see if it maybe becomes "unlocked" during the night!
Oooh Mel, I forgot to post something earlier today but my boss just came in fussing about the bathroom door again. We decided to lock the bathroom door over the weekend. Guess what!!!!???!!! When I came in this morning, I went to the bathroom and it was unlocked!!!!! I've gotta bring my camera in and take some pictures so you can see what kind of bells I am talking about that are NOT ringing!

Hi again:yay:
What a great day at DHS, you got so much done! And congrats on being guest of the hour. Have to say i think Hunter looks great in his hat, maybe a bit hot, but still great:goodvibes
I'm sooo sorry, I just realized I didn't respond to your earlier post. We did have a great day at Hollywood Studios. It was hot but nothing like the heat of Louisiana. Heck, today, our high is supposed to be 96 and it's just the middle of June.
Hunter thought he was quite the looker in his hat. When we were in Missouri, he bought a whip at Silver Dollar City so he's all set to look like Indiana Jones.

Wow! I'm all caught up again. I don't know how I got several pages behind! LOL!
I love the bathroom door. That is so funny. and that squirrel cracked me up. Did the CM notice him at all? so did mr swuireel just open a package and start eating out of it? I hope no one bought that bag. LOL!
Where do you get your items to sell on ebay. I always say I wish I had stuff to sell, but I don't really, and what I do looks like it wouldn't go for much anyways. I am having a garage sale this weekend though to get rid of stuff thats been collecting.

Glad you came out of lurkdome. I'll definitely tell Hunter that you came over because of his catchy title. I actually changed it a little bit because I wanted to add in the Where's My Tooth but it's still basically the same.

I don't know why the lock on the door caught my eye but it did and I thought it was so cute I had to take a picture of it. Mr. Squirrel was really sneaky and I have a feeling he had done this many times because he didn't go for the package in the front, he actually hid behind the ones hanging in the front. He bit a hole in the bag and pulled out one nut at a time.
I try to pick up ebay items when stores put their stuff on clearance. Before I buy an item, I think....what will I do with this if it doesn't sell?.....what if I get stuck with it? I want to make sure that I can: 1) give it as a gift if it doesn't sell; 2) keep it and do something with it myself; or 3) sell it in our annual garage sale and still make a profit. I also never sell anything over $15.00 with most being less than that. I know when I am shopping around on ebay, I want something cheap and if I saw something for $15.00 or less, I'd probably buy it whether or not I really needed it. So, far, I've done really good with my sales. Good enough to have paid off three of our annual Disney vacations!

Okay, I'm FINALLY all caught up on your TR. I don't know how I got behind either, but apparently, this thread moves FAST!
Just a couple of comments:
I LOL'd at the Hiney Hiders lock. Imagine what the people on the other side of the stall thought when they heard/saw your flash go off???? I can just imagine those people standing there wondering what you could possibly find so interesting inside your bathroom stall that you were taking a picture???? :rotfl: :rotfl2:
Secondly, that WAS a crafty little critter, getting into those nuts like that. Based on those pics, he's definitely done that before! And how he knew that those were nuts in those particular packs is beyond me. Amazing!!! And of course, you've got it all on camera. Glad you didn't lose those pics.
Thirdly, thanks for posting Fantasmic. I've yet to see it and I'm quite disappointed about that. Well, there's always next year, I hope!!!

It's actually getting quite fun. Like I said, when we first moved in, we didn't think much about it. We thought we were misplacing things or leaving things in other rooms. Now, it's fun to come in and see what's been done overnight. Sometimes, it's nothing. Sometimes, it's just a little thing moved around.
The reason we are so adamant about locking the bathroom door is....I hate saying it but I will so you will know.....there is an old man, Duck, who comes by and he's pretty much a drunk but he's an old family friend of my boss. My boss and his mom and dad pay him a little to take out the trash and vacuum. He kept going into the bathroom and I don't know what he does but he stops up the toilet every time. And, he smells really really bad too. We decided to start locking the bathroom and we keep the key in a drawer in our copy room. It's way behind a bunch of other stuff and Duck doesn't know it's in there. Now, Duck isn't using the bathroom but, obviously, the ghosts are.

You are so going to think we are a bunch of nuts but you already do so I'll go ahead and tell you another story. For several years, Lacey and I tried to come up with a picture taking theme. One year, it was bathrooms. We were inspired by the various bathroom signs. The one near Rock n' Roller Coaster had a guitar. The one in Fantasyland had Prince and Princess. The one near Space Mountain had a robot looking lady. So, we took a picture of the signs and then she and I got a little "goofy" with our pictures. I had pictures of her coming out of the bathroom stall, coming out of the bathroom building, and pointing to the bathroom entrance. I even had a picture of her feet sticking out from underneath the bathroom stall door. We had so much fun taking those pictures. They were really stupid pictures but fun to do. See, I told you we were nuts.;)
Oh I could definitely tell the squirrel knew what he was doing. He even waited until the cashier turned her back before running up the pole.
You've got to see Fantasmic. It's a great show and a not to be missed in our book.

There's never a dull moment at our house. But, I wouldn't have it any other way.
Nope! Duck doesn't have a key to the building. He only comes in once a week and only when we are here. Like I said, he likes to hit the bottle quite a bit so they don't trust him with a key. My boss is a wine connoisseur (that's fancy talk for he likes wine :rotfl:) and has some of the bottles he has picked from his travels stored in our back room. Given the fact that Duck likes to drink, my boss also keeps a pretty good eye on him while he's here.

Well, there went that theory!
There's only one explanation, It MUST be ghosts!!!! :scared1:
I'm loving this, can't you tell? So long as it doesn't happen to me personally, that is. A personal ghost experience might creep me out a little too much...
Let's face it Louisiana it full of ghosts!!! That's one of the good things we are famous for!!:rotfl2:

Whew, just found this today and got all caught up... I was home sick, and what's better than reading a trip report when you're sick?
I could really relate to your Epcot tooth story! I have a crown on one of my front teeth, and I lost many a temporary crown... so far the permanent one has held up nicely. But I just might start carrying super glue with me...
Can't wait to read more!

That's certainly a thought! My boss's parents were in Louisiana Life magazine's last issue. They live in another part of the hotel and one of her quotes when they asked her about what was in the empty part of the building was "the ghosts of times gone by". Ooooohhhh! Scary!

Ya'll, I am sorry that I haven't gotten my next installment up yet. John's mother sent fresh squash, cucumbers, green beans and hot peppers. Since we are going camping this weekend, I had to can the beans, cook the squash to freeze and make hot pepper sauce tonight. The only thing I didn't do something with is the cucumbers. Tomorrow night, we are eating leftovers (which we rarely do since I don't like leftovers) for dinner....yummy combination....tacos, grilled chicken, grilled sausage and angel food cake. That way, I can do something with the cucumbers instead of cooking dinner.
I'll try my best to get another installment up tomorrow.

I LOVE THIS IDEA!! What a great scrapbook those pics would make! :thumbsup2

Lacey took all of the bathroom pictures and put them in her scrapbook. They were so cute. I actually looked at them again last night. There was one with the bathroom stall door closed and you could see just one of her feet on the ground. She had turned around to flush the toilet. Obviously, not the bathroom I went to at Epcot because we all know they had automatic flushing toilets.:lmao:
We did have people looking at us funny but we figured nobody there would ever see us again so what did it matter?

There's just so much I can do to help run this law office. I draft certain pleadings, correspondence, take calls, make calls, greet everybody with a smile and then I go put everything on my boss's desk. The next move is his.
I figure I don't get that 15 minute "smoke" break that smokers get (no offense to anyone). I get here early on most days. I sometimes run a few office errands on non-business hours. So, if I can get a little Dis time in here and there nobody better say a bad thing about it!

work hard and take a break...it use to kill me when my supervisor would take her 15 min smoke break, her 15 min talk to her dgt break, and if I walked away from my desk (since I don't smoke), longer than 5 min everyone was like "where did Connie go?":rotfl:I even told Danny I was going to buy a pk just to walk away from my desk with:lmao:

Okay, I'm going to see if I can get a little bit of our Magic Kingdom day posted. Can't promise how much I can get done but a little is better than nuthin'.:thumbsup2
When I last left off, we had a hot, sweaty but good day at Hollywood Studios. We were able to see and do just about everything including Fantasmic! We took our showers the night before so all we should have to do in the a.m. is do a bit of freshing up, grab a breakfast snack and get to the bus stop. Our goal? Make it to the Magic Kingdom rope drop!
Well, guess what? We were at the bus stop at 8:25 a.m. and arrived at the Magic Kingdom at no time at all. Hooray! We made it to the park before it opened!
We decided to go to the left of the train station, stand in line there and wait for the opening ceremony. Here's our first picture of the day:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0672-1.jpg
And then the ceremony began:

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0674.jpg
Once the opening ceremony was over, we were allowed to enter the park. There is just nothing like seeing the Cinderella's Castle for the first time (I've really seen it over two dozen times but it doesn't matter because it's just as beautiful each and every time I see it)

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0677-1.jpg
Our first stop was to be The Laugh Floor and we cut through the Noodle Station to get there. I had to stop and take this picture first.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0678-1.jpg
We made it to The Laugh Floor in no time at all and were some of the first people in line.
While we were in the pre-show, they made an announcement that you could text your joke to Mike. Hunter immediately got his Dad's phone and sent one in. I wish I could remember what it was....something about the tomato and lettuce and dressing.:confused3 I'll ask Hunter when I get home. Anyway, Hunter got a text back from Mike that said "I've never heard that one before. Thanks! Mike."
I had read that the seats near the little lamp things are the ones that are most likely to get chosen to go on the big screen. I was! They came over and asked me what monsters I was with and then they put Hunter and John and the screen. We had a nice little chit-chat. It was really cute. After we made our guest appearance, the show went on. When they got to the part about jokes from the audience, the Mcee, a/k/a Monster of Ceremony, said something like "we've got a joke here from Hunter from West Monroe, Louisiana". Hunter's face lit up and he just about wet his pants. (told you this is the "I gotta pee!" report :lmao:) Of course, everybody in the audience laughed and Hunter's joke was a hit.
After The Laugh Floor, we decided to see how long the wait was for Buzz Lightyear.
****INTERRUPTION****

When you go into the theater, there are benches. On some of the benches, you'll see little lamp things that look kind of like monster antennae. I was told that those are the "best seats in the house". Don't know if it's true or not but it worked for us. Yeah, Hunter was on a winning streak this vacation. He was chosen for lots of things.

Lovin the update. :) I didn't know that about the lamp thingys at the Laugh Floor either. We'll have to try it. Any secrets about how to get picked for Turtle Talk with Crush? I've never been to rope drop at MK before (okay, I've never been to rope drop at anything before), we'll have to really try this time.

We saw Mike & Sully's Laugh show last summer. My DDs really got a kick out of it. I bet it is very hard to understand some of the accents that people speak in when they are questioning the audiance.
I had a thought - maybe the ghost in your office is one of the hitch-hikers from the Haunted Mansion .

The moving chair really startled me. I didn't get super scared but, rather, a bit shook up. I mean, you don't expect to walk into a room and a chair start moving.
On our second day at the Magic Kingdom, we didn't get to sit by one of lamp things in the Laugh Floor but I started looking around and it DID seem like the people who appeared on the screen or were chosen were sitting next to the lamps. Like I said, I don't know if that really is why they were chosen but anything's worth a try.
I don't really have a tip about getting chosen for Turtle Talk with Crush. We have seen the show four times and Hunter has been chosen three of those times. He's usually not sitting right in the middle but rather kinda on the side. And, he always waves his arm in the air when they ask if you anybody has questions.
I soooooooooo believe there are spirits that walk this earth. I have had way too many strange experiences happen to me to not believe :scared1:.
Oh, I sooooo believe in spirits. My mother's cousin's husband is always joking about marrying into a bunch of witches because all of the older people in our family have "feelings". You know like, for instance, my mother will call and say "Babe, don't come home on so-and-so highway today. Come the back way." and then, sure enough, there's a wreck on the so-and-so highway. (Okay, I know in a big town a wreck on a highway is not a big deal but we live in a small town where even the highways are not well traveled). Or she'll wake up in the middle of the night worrying about John and the next day we'll talk and I'll tell her that John wasn't feeling well last night (remember, he has epilepsy) and we had to give him his "knock out" medicine. (puts him to sleep in just 15 minutes) Just stuff like that.
