Good morning everybody!
Ghost update first. The back door was open again this morning and the bathroom door was locked. Those little stinkers just like to play with everything.
Second, I hope to get a few more pictures posted today. My boss has a huge custody battle next week and I have stacks of papers all over my desk. I've got to get the whole thing organized by lunch since we close at Noon on Fridays. It's going to be quite a chore because the file in about a foot and a half high.
Tomorrow, we are driving over to Shreveport which is about 100 miles from our house. Why? Because I have to go to the Hallmark store there to pick up one, just one, graduation autograph album for Lacey's classmates. I found some on sale at our mall for just $2.47 each. They only had four. The other Hallmark store in Monroe had just 3 and they were full price, $9.95. The Hallmark store in Ruston (30 miles away) had 4 and they were 30% off. We only needed one more and the closest store that had one was in Shreveport. I really don't have a choice but to drive over and get it. I can't let just one person have something different than the others. Oh well, maybe we can go to the Bass Pro Shop while there and find John a couple pair of shorts. He worked in some of his shorts from last year and he's not wearing those to Disney now that they have wood glue and stuff on them.
Let me get busy with my file organizing so maybe I can at least get a small updated posted.

Love a road trip. Our Bass Pro is better. You might as well come up here. I bet we could find a book at one of our Hallmark stores.
I can't decide if I would want to get out of that spooky building or continue searching and try to find out what is really going on. I am no Nancy Drew.
I have to work till 5 today. Bummer. The Doc is on call this weekend so we have to stay and answer the phone. It only happens once every two months so I guess I will be a real adult and work or something like that. He leaves the office at 2. Gets pretty boring till 5.
Have a great day.

excellent update and photos!!!!
Just added Conservation Station to our agenda too. Thanks again for sharing.
Definitely add it to the list. It's a nice place to get away from the crowds in the other part of the park.

Well of course the Springfield location is a better Bass Pro Shop. It's the home of Bass Pro and it's an attraction itself. I've been to it several times.
I really don't mind driving over to Shreveport. There's a nice boardwalk area that has lots of stores and shops. Hunter is a great shopper and never complains. When he gets bored, he just pulls out his PSP.
I'm always on the lookout for star when in Shreveport but haven't seen anyone famous yet. Did you guys know that Shreveport, Louisiana is being called the southern Hollywood? They have shot many many movies in Shreveport. Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher made a movie there. I can't remember the name of it. It's the one where they were Navy seals. And Mad Money wasa shot there. Some Jessica Simpson flop was filmed there. There's supposed to be some movie in the works there right now. Oh, and Josh Brolin was arrested there last year.
I've got a little while before my friend from the Judge's Office comes over with some paperwork I left for one of the Judges yesterday. She is the one I helped plan a Disney vacation for. She fell in love with the Caribbean Beach Resort and is bringing me a "happy" a/k/a souvenier.:yay:

I have only been to Shreveport once that I can remember and that was many years ago. Have been to NO lots. I wish I lived near a cruise terminal I could cruise every month. Getting there is the expensive part. Or Disney then I could have an AP and go every day. Wonder how many times I could ride EE?
BTW: I did an update on my EE ride but it doesn't show on the board. Check it out when you have time.

After taking a short bathroom break, on we went to see what kind of new creatures we could find on the Tree of Life. This was our first picture:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0926-2.jpg
And, then, we found a trail that didn't have any signs or markings but we thought, what the heck, let's check it out. There was nobody else on the trail so we were able to take our time and really look at the details on the Tree of Life. The path twisted and turned and was just so much fun to explore. A few pictures:

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0918-2.jpg
See the black on this picture.....I later found out that that's a hidden Mickey. I think I have a picture of it from a distance. If I do, I'll post it.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0920-2.jpg
Here we are in our ponchos:

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0921.jpg
We had been on the path for about 20 minutes before a castmember came walking along. She acted like she was surprised to see us there. I asked if it was okay for us to be there and she said absolutely. She even offered to take our picture.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0922-1.jpg
In all of our visits to the park, we had never seen this walrus carved into the tree:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0924-2.jpg
We continued along the path and every once in a while, we'd come across an animal enclosure with birds, monkeys and even large turtles. We came to the end of the trail and we were way on the other side of the tree. We turned around and we could see the walrus again so I took a picture of Hunter with him.

I could hear my cell phone ringing but it was in my backpack and I couldn't get to it before it stopped ringing. It was John. I called him back and he said he was about to leave the room but it was raining and he couldn't find his poncho. Hum? I had his poncho in the backpack. Hum? How was he going to get to the park without getting wet? Hum?
Me: You know you hate wearing a poncho anyway so just run to the bus stop and I'll meet you at the front of the park.
John: You've got my poncho don't you?
Me: Maybe.
John: Do you have the poncho or not?
Me: Yes, but you wouldn't have worn it anyway.
John: I'll be there in a minute. I'll be wet but I'll be there.
I hung up and told Hunter that we needed to pray that the sun would come out so his dad wouldn't have to walk in the rain from the bus stop to the park entrance. I'm not just saying that......we really did hold hands and pray. The prayer went something like this. "Dear Lord Jesus, let it stop raining so that Dad won't have to walk in the rain and he won't be mad that we took his poncho to the park with us while he slept in. Amen!" Not five minutes later, the rain stopped. The sun wasn't shining brightly but it did peak through the clouds a little bit as if to say "granted"
Off come the ponchos and we walk around the tree towards the Oasis. We saw Lilo greeting guests near the entrance to Camp Minnie Mickey and, since we had a bit of time to waste before John arrived, Hunter hopped in line to get an autograph.

I enjoyed the Tree pictures. I find it most amazing. We too searched all of the animals out.
Yes HE does work in mysterious ways. Lucky for you. Or John in this case.
We love Lilo. Have pictures coming up of her too. I really wish I would read the book on my camera. I've only had it 2 years. If it were fiction I would have done it by now. :rotfl2:

OK, I was reading a trip report from someone (I can't remember who) and they said that if you wanted to read an excellent trip report that you needed to come over and read yours. WELL, I just spent the entire morning reading your report and I am LOVING IT!! I feel like that I am there with you guys on your vacation! While I was reading I had to pee, but I wanted to keep reading, so I brought the laptop with me to the bathroom!
I am loving the stories and descriptions of your trip. I think that it is great that you are able to remember your trip so well nearly a year later. I am almost tempted to post a report from our trip last Apr 2008 with 10 family members and 3 generations to WDW, especially since it was a first trip for the 4 girls and my bro in law and it had been 30 years since my parents and sis had been. It was an amazing trip for us all.
You also inspired me to do a count down calendar for our trip. I'll be heading out to Home Depot to get the mickey ears.
Looking forward to the next installment! :yay:

Great AK report! Love the TOL pics. I've never been that close to it to see all the details. I did watch a special on TV a while back that showed how it was made. Very cool! :thumbsup2
I'm loving that you and Hunter said an actual prayer right there in the park and your prayer was answered. Don't you just love "divine intervention?" :cloud9:
Cute Lilo pics with Hunter. He's such a cutie, anyways... :cutie:
Oh, and I didn't see the hidden Mickey when you showed it on the close up, but I did scroll back up to the first photo and there it was! I never noticed that before!
Looking forward to more. Have fun on your quest for the lone autograph book!!!! :tink:

I feel quite proud that you took my trip report along with you to the bathroom. You'll recall that I've had a "I gotta pee" moment too.
You would think that after 13 trips to Disney, I'd forget the dteails but pictures really do help. This year, I am going to make notes each night so I can keep up with even more details.

I saw that special too. Hunter was a bit afraid to ride Dinosaur (several years ago) but remembered watching the "how it was made" show on the Animal Kingdom. He decided he could ride because all of the dinosaurs were just plastic and water hoses.
If I feel the need to say a prayer, I don't care where I am. We often get funny looks when we pray over our food before we eat at the mall or a restaurant. Oh well!
I hate that we have to drive 100 miles for a scrapbook but it'll get us out of the house. And, I just got an email from Bass Pro and they are having a sale this weekend.

John was thankful for the answered prayer. His dad is a pastor, two of his five brothers are pastors, my dad was a deacon in the church, my grandfather was a missionary, my great uncle was a pastor and Lacey will be Reverend Lacey by this time next year. We aren't preachy people but we do have our beliefs.
I had never noticed the hidden Mickey until somebody on the Dis said something about it. Then, it was obvious. You should make a list of animals for them to find and make a scavenger hunt for the boys. They'd have a great time.

Let's see if I can describe how to find it.......when you get into the park, go towards Pizzafari. There is a Tree of Life sign that will be on your right. There is a small animal observation right past the sign. Somewhere up in that area was the start of the path.
We've had some of the best times at Animal Kingdom. I have fond memories of us skipping through the park at the end of the day with our ponchos on and just being happy. We stepped in every rain puddle we could find. It was such fun.

Hunter has never been afraid of the characters even when he was just one year old. As you can see in the picture, he was talking to Lilo. I don't remember what he was telling her but I'm sure it was some tale.
John sits in the bedroom with me (where the computer is) and chats while I check my emails, my disboards, my ebay, etc. Hey, a girl's gotta keep up with the important stuff. John does truly understand how the posting works on the disboards but I try to explain so he semi-understands.
I wish we still had a K-Mart around here. Our's shut down several years ago. Sounds like they had some great deals.
We drew our Christmas names when we were all together at Easter. Yes, I know that's early but it also gives everybody time to look around for that something special. I try to buy at least a few of my Christmas gifts while at Disney because it'll be unique.
We're supposed to head off to Shreveport in the morning and will probably make a day of it.

Good morning all! We are up and getting ready for our 100 mile trek to get one lone solitary graduation scrapbook. We'll make a fine day of it I am sure.
I officially added Lacey to our Disney reservations last night. I was originally told that I had until 72 hours before check in to add her. But, I didn't want to wait that long to do it. If something gets messed up with the reservation somehow, someway, I want more than 72 hours to fix it. She had previously gotten permission to go back to Georgia three days later than the rest of the students but I wanted to make sure they didn't change their minds and say she had to come back on time.
I called her last night to tell her she had been added to our Pop Century reservations (she doesn't know about switching to Caribbean Beach Resort). You know what the little stinker did? She said "Mom, is there any way you can take me back off? I was just about to call you and tell her I can't go." Scared the heck out of me. Then she said she was just kidding.
Oh and my second Mickey mail came yesterday complete with another set of luggage tags and vouchers. I don't know if they'll let me use the vouchers twice but I bet you I'm gonna try. I asked the castmember (when I added Lacey) if I would be getting another package with Lacey included. He said he wasn't sure. Sometimes, they send out another package sometimes they don't. So, I may be getting even more Mickey mail.
Hope everybody has a great day. We are about ready to head off on our shopping adventure.

Let's see if I can describe how to find it.......when you get into the park, go towards Pizzafari. There is a Tree of Life sign that will be on your right. There is a small animal observation right past the sign. Somewhere up in that area was the start of the path.
Thanks! We are going to look for that next time:thumbsup2

Glad Lacey is now official. She has quite a sense of humor doesn't she? Wonder where she picked that up.

There's nothing better than sleeping in on a Saturday. My sleeping in is usally about 8:00 a.m. Can't seem to sleep any later than that.
Lacey has a great sense of humor just like her Daddy. She and Hunter can think of things right on the spot. I, on the other hand, take a while to warm up.

I'd planned to do some shopping today too. I was hoping to get back to the Disney Store. Instead, while we were at Will's practice, one of his teammate's mom said she was headed to the Scrapbook Expo and did I want to come?
:cool1: HECK YA!!! :woohoo:
I haven't been to a scrapbook expo type thingy in at least 3 years! (I haven't even scrapbooked with paper in over 6 months...I've done some digital though).
It wasn't the best I've ever been to, but I had a lot of fun with a friend and her sister and no kids (of mine...my friend's sister did have her 6 year old daughter). Boy did I need that break.
I didn't need to spend the money I spent...but what can ya do, right?
Anyway, glad you had a successful day too!
And I'm REALLY glad that Lacey is, in fact, able to join you. :goodvibes

We did have a good shopping trip. We went to the Hallmark store first. Took forever to find it. We were in and out of the store in about 5 minutes.
Next up was the Bass Pro Shop. Lacey's Jeep needed new brakes about two weeks ago and one of the men in the church owns a car dealership so he fixed them for her free of charge. He wouldn't take any payment so we were on the lookout for him some kind of gift. Lacey said he likes t-shirts and hats. Found both and a huge package of AA batteries (we go through them like crazy for some reason) for just $34.00.
On the drive home, we stopped at an outlet mall in Arcadia and got John some new shorts. He got four pair of shorts, some socks and I got quite a few new undies for just $76.00.
I have never been to a scrapbooking expo. I have made scrapbooks for all of our football coaches and sponsors but never for myself. I have all the stuff to do it. I just don't have time to get around to it. It sounds like you had a good time.

It just kills us that we only get to see Lacey a couple of times a year. They don't get the traditional school/college holidays. Their Spring Break is 2 weeks in May and then we see her for just a little over a week at Christmas. That's it! She has so many friends here at home that when she does come home, she tries to see everybody that she can.
Because she lives 9 hours away, we can't just skip over there and visit either. Needless to say, we miss her bunches and bunches. It'll be so nice to have her on vacation with us and all to ourselves.

I don't know how you do it w/Lacey...when Gwendolyn moved out I didn't take it hard but she was just down the road and I think that is why it didn't bother me. When my older daughter (Sandi) was a junior in high school I would have given anything for her to go away to college instead of staying home and going to one of the local ones. When she was a senior I couldn't bear the thought of her being away. She moved to an apartment after gradutation but stayed locally till she married and moved far away. We deal with texting constantly, phoning, emailing and we manage to get together every 6 weeks to 2 months. I would prefer she be right here. Luckily younger daughter (Sheri) stayed right here and we live blocks from one another. My grandkids save me.

I really must be getting senile because on our drive to Shreveport this weekend, I remembered something we did on our "sleep in/do whatever" day.
Before moving on to more of our Animal Kingdom day, I thought I better throw in the something I forgot.
For years and years, we stayed at the Days Suites on Hwy. 192 in Kissimmee. Back when we first started staying there, it was a nice place to stay and we really liked the fact that it had a mini-kitchen, a bedroom and a separate living room. It was also near Old Town which was a nice diversion. Over the years, it started to get more and more run down until we finally decided to stop staying there and stay onsite. The real decision maker was when somebody broke into our room and stole all kinds of stuff from us while we were at the pool (for 30 minutes)......stuff like my wedding ring, the ring my daddy gave me when I turned 16 and my sister's credit cards! You can't convince me that it wasn't an employee(s) who had been watching and waiting for us to leave the room for even a minute of time.
In 2007, we drove over to Old Town to shop a bit and noticed that the Days Suites was no longer Days Suites and the sign didn't even say what it was. It looked pretty bad.
Well, in 2008, we made another trip to Old Town. Old Town itself was looking better because they had updated some of the store fronts, some new stores had been added, there were new rides, etc. But, the old Days Suites looked absolutely horrible! The sign was an old piece of plywood with Old Town Suites painted on it, the plants were dead, the paint was peeling off the buildings, the patios and balconies were falling down and bugs were, literally, crawling around the parking lot! It was just plain nasty!
Anyway, back to shopping at Old Town. Hunter played in the arcade (kinda still rundown) for a little while and hit Jackpot on the Wheel of Fortune game and won 500 tickets. Guess what he got? A stuff Shrek which was about 10 inches tall. Whooeey! Not! John and I played a little skeeball which I hadn't done in a while. After about 30 minutes, we moved on to what we really went to Old Town for....to shop at Black Market Minerals.
For those of you who haven't been to Black Market Minerals you should. I got all kinds of really cheap stone jewelry, beads and two bamboo windchimes. I have noticed over the years that they've started selling more jewelry making stuff rather than the handcarved wooden things but we still like going to see what they have. It's a nice diversion and just about a 10 minute drive from Disney.
Okay, now that I've added that bit of left off information, I'll try to get busy on more Animal Kingdom.

Let's see, the day started with Hunter and I leaving John snoozing away at the CBR and us headed out to Animal Kingdom. By lunch, Hunter and I had already danced with Terk, taken a safari, watched gorillas in the mist, I mean rain, shopped a little in Africa, walked all around the Tree of Life and chatted with Lilo.
After taking Hunter's picture with Lilo, John called and said he was on the bus and on the way to Animal Kingdom. He was supposed to call us when he got to the park. We decided to look around The Oasis a bit while we waited on John's arrival. We saw a castmember holding a clear box so we went over to see what she had. It was a tarantula and Hunter had a high old time telling her about the time we saw a tarantula when we were camping in Hot Springs, Arkansas. After a few minutes, another castmember came up holding another clear box and it had a centipede in it. It was huge.
John called to say he was there and I told him we were right up front so he couldn't miss us. I was so glad that the rain had held off until he got to the park 'cause I really didn't want to have to explain why I had his poncho in my backpack. What was the reason? I have NO idea. I guess it was just habit but still I didn't want to get into any kind of argument over a stupid poncho.
John spotted us right away and the first thing on the agenda was food. We were all starving. Pizzafari was close so that's what we chose. John ordered an Italian stack sandwich. I got a side salad and breadsticks with sauce. Hunter got a cheese pizza. We sat in the camoflauge room and found lots of hidden Mickeys but, for some reason, I took no pictures.:confused3 While we ate, Hunter told his dad about all the gorillas we saw and how the lioness was actually out this time during the safari. So, we decided our next stop would be the safari.
This go round, the animals were still out and about but not as many were active. It had warmed up quite a bit and most were lying around. I won't post as many pictures of the safari this time as some were of the same animals.

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0938-3.jpg
After treking through the African plains, Hunter wanted to see if all of the gorillas were out. Of course, they were not. There were just two lazing around in front of the window. I had pictures but I guess they were some of those that were lost.
Then, we got to the meerkat enclosure and saw these ummmmmm.....fighting?
:rolleyes1
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0942-1.jpg
We finished up the forest trail and John said he didn't want to go to Rafiki's Planet Watch so we skipped it. We went back to the store where we saw the walking cane. While we looked at the canes, Hunter talked to a castmember who was from Africa. You all know by now that Hunter is definitely not shy so he was asking all sorts of questions. I can't remember what they were but I do remember being impressed with some of them. Anyway, John and I finally decided on a really neat handcarved cane for my brother-in-law and we had it sent to resort pickup. Hunter said goodbye to his newfound friend and off we went to show John our secret Tree of Life trail.
*****I'll stop here for now. I really need to get some of this work off my desk. Boss worked this weekend so guess who's desk is now a mess.

We have been there before. Many years ago. I used to get allergy shots every day and before I learned to give them to myself I had to find a dr. that could do it on vacation. There was a real nice office I used to go to everyday. They only charged me $5.00 since I had the medicine. Back in the 80's that was a lot of money to pay every day so I came home and learned how to do it. Back to Old Town. There were lots of fun places to shop and see how other area junk places compared to ours. :snooty:

First of all, you're giving me just the right pre-Disney fix--we go Aug 1-9, and just got off the phone with Kids Nite Out for some parent time (sans kids) for 3 of our nights while we're there. I've not been able to plan for WDW for the past 5 weeks (had my nephew here with us this summer, and we've been going going going), and have a few more things to do to be ready to go. In the meantime, I'm LOVING following your tr, and hope you have a blast when you return a few days after us to "The World".
Second, I live in Shreveport, and have yet to see a star. We did have plans for Bernie Mack to come work out at our gym (we own a couple fitness gyms), but he didn't make it to the gym, and he died not too long afterwards. There's been a LOT of movies filmed in Shreveport and the surrounding areas. My oldest son, 12 yrs old, was an extra in a Hallmark movie last year--not so fun sitting in a high school gym waiting for my kid to do his bit--and we parents were there about 9 hours. I'm just HIGHLY thankful that I was able to find someone to watch my 3 yr old so I didn't have to chase him for those 9 hrs!
Anyway, I agree about The Boardwalk--it's really nice. It's the only "mall" we visit here. Hope you had fun while you were in Shreveport.

Just finished reading your trip report and I am really enjoying it. My DD and I are going in January and I wish I would have kept it a surprise. It would have hard since her mom won't be coming, she is going with her friends in September with free dining. I really like the idea of the living souvenir, a.k.a plants, my DD is 15 and I am thinking two plants would be a great way of remember the plants, especially if they live for several years. It would be nice for her to go to college and have the plants to remind us of the trip. Thanks for the great idea.

Great update!!! We stayed in a townhouse (the townhouse was nice but the neighborhood was a little to be desired at 11pm at night--when we were returning from Walmart) in the beginning of our last trip. We had to pass Olde Towne it just looks like a ghost town compared to all the hotels/motels they used to have. We had almost booked at Olde Towne Suites, so glad we did not. The dive we stayed in 2001 was not even there anymore...Gwendolyn said the roaches and spiders probably carried it away

Thanks!
Your trip is coming up really soon. I know you are about to burst with excitement.
Isn't it a small world...you livein Shreveport and I live in West Monroe. Just 100 miles apart. In all the trips I've made to Shreveport, I've not seen a star yet. Cool that Bernie Mack was supposed to come to your gym.
Which movie was your son an extra in?

Wow you've been busy reading. Keeping the trip a surprise was so hard to do. There were many times when I almost blurted it out.
The plant is still growing well. It's a nice touch to be able to see Disney alive and well on my back porch.

We've seen elephants on each and every trip. This past time, they had a barrier thing up in some places because there was a new baby amongst the elephants.

Thanks ya'll! We have always seemed to luck out on seeing the animals while on our 2 week safari.
When Hunter was 3, we were on Kilimanjaro Safari and the truck driver had to stop because several giraffes were approaching the vehicle. A giraffe walked right over to us (Hunter was sitting on his daddy's lap), stuck his nose in, sniffed Hunter and John and then licked the top of the truck. Hunter yelled, "It licked the bus!". Everyone on the truck, including the driver, thought that was the funniest thing ever. To this day, Hunter still calls a giraffe a "licka bus".

I'm going to try to get a quick installment up before the bossman comes in. This upcoming custody trial is a huge one and we've got a lot of preparing to do.
Let's see, we had purchased the walking cane for my brother-in-law. Oh, I remember, we were off to show John our "hidden" trail.
I've already told you that John is not blown away by the Animal Kingdom so he wasn't as excited as Hunter and I were by the trail. Here's the first picture I took. Look how excited John was.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0928.jpg
I told him that the picture turned out crappy and he needed to smile. Here's the second picture I took.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0929-2.jpg
Now, I don't remember if I posted these three pictures in the other post or if these were taken when all three of us were walking around the tree. Oh well, here they are:

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0944-2.jpg
After walking the trail, we decided to head into It's Tough To Be A Bug because the wait was only 10 minutes. I don't know about you guys but I actually kind of like the wait for It's Tough To Be A Bug because you get to see all of the different animal carvings. But, this time, there were castmembers shooing us on in. I didn't even get to take pictures of the monkey carving.
A few pictures I took while waiting for the show to begin. Hunter took one of John and I but I guess it's amongst those that were lost.

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_1025-1.jpg
It's Tough To Be A Bug is loud. It's stinky. It's scary. It's absolutely wonderful! Hunter has always liked It's Tough To Be A Bug even when he was just 2 years old. Maybe it's because he likes the movie, Bug's Life. Anyway, he's never been scared of it and I'm glad because we really like the show.
Once the show was over, we allowed a lot of the crowds to go ahead of us so we could linger a little while. We found a nice stop and figured out where to go next. Since the Festival of the Lion King show was supposed to start soon, we decided to go over to Camp Minnie Mickey.
Sorry, it's out of order but I just found another Tree of Life picture on photobucket.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_1029-1.jpg

The big B-day is Friday and I have tried guessing several things that might happen. So Monday night I dreamed Don was taking me to Vegas and I told him I had to get my :laundy: done. Well, I didn't get it done so we didn't go. I guess it was because before I went to bed I was listening to my Ipod and the song by Matthe Wilder "break my stride" was on. The first part of the song is: Last night I had the stangest dream. I sailed away to China on a little row boat to find ya. And you said you had to get your laundry clean.
So after I told him that and he said I guess you know what it means and I said yes I better do laundry. We had a good laugh.
So Tuesday night I dreamed he took me on a cruise. We left Friday after work and came home on Sunday night. When I told him last night at dinner (we are all out to Pizza Inn buffet) Sheri hooted and Don said yes get your candle ready. I'm renting a jet ski and we are going to Table Rock Lake. Then everyone thought that was hilarious. Except me of course.
I didn't dream anything last night. I would say it is a good thing. Wouldn't you?

Hey MickeysToonTown!
Heather from Shreveport again. My oldest (12 yrs old) was an extra in Front of the Class, a story about a mom's persistence in getting her child with Tourette's syndrome public education. It was filmed at several schools, but my kiddo's part was filmed at Creswell Elementary, if I remember correctly. Patricia Heaton was the mom in the film. My friends' daughter was also in the movie, and was a "featured" extra in a couple scenes.
Yes, gettin a bit excited about the upcoming trip. My boys start school 2 days after we return home, so I have to dig out their school supplies lists and go shopping before WDW-- at least, while school shopping, I can envision a fun WDW trip before classes actually start!

It was a sad day indeed! The Sheriff's Department said that it was obvious that it was an "inside job" because we were only gone for about 30 minutes and somebody had to have been watching us. In just 16 hours, my sister's credit card had over $800.00 worth of charges on it and it had gone from middle Florida to the top of Florida and back. Thankfully, she didn't have to pay any of the charges since she had a police report. My homeowner's insurance gave us $1,000.00 but it couldn't replace the things that were taken.

Thanks you two! We found out late yesterday that the trial had been continued. Gosh, I wish we had known before we did all that prep work. But, the courthouse hasn't had air conditioning for four days now. Our high temp today is supposed to be 99 degrees with a head index of 108. The courtrooms are on the top floor (4th) and there's just no way that anybody could stand being locked up in a courtroom all day long.

Well fartadelic! I had typed up a nice installment (and photobucket was cooperating), when we I received an internet error report. I thought I had copied the installment before the internet shut down but I guess I didn't. I'll start over again.:headache:
On our way out of It's Tough To Be A Bug, it was decided that we'd go over to Camp Minnie Mickey and see Festival of the Lion King. Because we had a little time to kill before the show started, Hunter wanted to get a few character autographs.
First, we saw Minnie all gussied up in her safari suit:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0987.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0988-1.jpg
And then, we walked up the trail to see this guy:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0984.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0985.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0986.jpg
John didn't stand in line with Hunter and I but rather sat down on a bench near the bathrooms. When we left Mickey, we saw John motioning us over. The place was getting a bit crowded and John thought that we better go ahead and get in line for Festival of the Lion King. It's a good thing that we did too because right after we got in line, lots of folks started lining up.
Standing in front of us was a family of five. There was a grandmother who was probably in her late 60s/early 70s, a dad and mother who were early 30ish and two kids about 3 and 7. I felt so sorry for the grandmother. They had her loaded down like a pack mule. She had a large tote bag which was filed to the hilt on one shoulder. On the other shoulder, she had a diaper bag thing. Around her neck was a misting fan and she was juggling two water bottles in her arms. What did the mother and dad have? Absolutely nothing! Poor grandma!
We didn't have to wait too long before they started letting us into the theater. Because we were near the front of the line, we were able to get seats on the front row. Well, not the front row because the front two rows are for handicapped persons but the next front row.;) We were in the giraffe section again. Seems like every time we go to the show we are giraffes. I mean who the heck knows how to make a giraffe sound. One day, I'm going to grow up and be an elephant!
We're sitting there and people are still filtering into the theater and this family comes in and sits down in the row in front of us. The handicapped section. Were they handicapped? Did they have a handicapped person with them? NO!:sad2: Were there other seats available in the theater? Yes! I NEVER and I mean NEVER sit or park in a handicapped section. EVER. These people were already on my poop list when they started getting loud and obnoxious. They were talking loud and started clapping really loud to try and get other people to clap. After about 5 minutes of this, I couldn't help myself and I leaned down and sweetly said "I don't think it's working so you can stop." The guy gave me a really ugly look and John gave me a "I'm proud of you." look. The guy stopped clapping but was still loud even throughout the show. I hate sitting near those kind of people.
Here are some pictures of the show. Some aren't so hot and they are out of order but since photobucket is cooperating right now, I better post them before they disappear.

Again, this is probably out of order but this guy comes out and he's twirling his fire baton thingies. These are pictures of the twirling but what I didn't get was his headpiece catching on fire!!!!! Yep, it caught on fire when he laid down and was twirling. I guess he smelled/felt it because he just rolled his head a little on the stage and it went out. I don't think anybody else even saw it. Kind of freaked me out.

Later, Mr. Hair on Fire came out with his sword/knives a twirling:

The blue and red heads in these pictures are the obnoxious dad and one of his kids. Sorry, just can't let it go.:rolleyes1:

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0997.jpg
And, then, they started getting kids from the audience to come out and do the little parade around the theater. Hunter was chosen to be one of the kids. I think he felt a little out of place since he was one of the oldest kids chosen. But, he liked it anyway.:

Have any of you ever posted over on the Intercot boards? I've been posting my trip report over there and have had tons of people say they are enjoying the report so far. I just got two private messages from their moderators saying that my report has inappropriate behavior. They edited out John meeting Pocahontas and Hunter and I spitting. Holy smokes! I know they are about to edit out Hunter's booger smearing story. I guess I'm about to be banned from Intercot.:scared1:

Totally awesome update. Glad Hunter was picked instead of Mr. Obnoxious' kids. It's because of him his kiddos didn't get picked. Trust me those Disney people can pick those rude people out so quick and they know how to ignore them. Too bad the kids have to suffer and grow up just like them.
We did not catch that show since the rain went so late in the day. I really am going to have to go back and call for a mulligan so I can relive AK. And do EE 10 times.

I feel sorry for the kids because they were acting the same way as the dad was. The mother was just sitting over there saying nothing at all. I so wouldn't have been able to hold my tongue if I were her.
You've got to get back to the Animal Kingdom. There's just so much you missed.
If I could have carried part of the load for that grandmother, I would have. Those stupid 30 years old were just standing around. When I become a grandmother, I'm going to spoil the kids like crazy but I'm not going to be their pack mule.;)

When Hunter was little, the stroller and myself were the pack mules. There is just no way I would have let my mother tote all the stuff around (she went with us in 2000).

I don't know how I even found Intercot but somehow stumbled upon it. They've deleted a lot of my posts. I went back on the forum and posted this:
So, from what I understand, some portions of my trip report have been edited out because the moderators feel they are inappropriate. I honestly didn't mean to offend anyone. We aren't offensive, gross, mean people. Really, we aren't. We are just a normal everyday family. Sorry if anybody was offended.
I've had three people post that they haven't been offended at all and that they love the trip report.
I'm not saying that I have the best trip report around, that I am this super fantastic writer of all things, that we are the purest family around but I can honestly say that we are a good, honest, God lovin' family and I've said absolutely nothing that is inappropriate in my report. If I didn't have a lot of readers over on Intercot who want to know about the trip, I'd stop mid-trip in my postings over there.
They've taken out "I've Gotta Pee!", Hunter and I spitting in the water, John's Pocahontas incident (it was totally innocent) and Hunter wiping a booger on his sister. Oh my.....what totally inappropriate people we are! We must be some kind of criminals on the loose. Oops, maybe I am because I did take those two Disney flowers.
Anyway, thanks for listening to my rant.

Never been on Intercot but don't think it's for me either! I could only imagine that they would think my upcoming trip with exDH would be scandelous!
started your report yesterday; just have not subscribed yet will very soon:cutie:
My boss came in during lunchtime and said "Why don't we close early tomorrow so you won't be so late getting to see Lacey?" I was glad to see that he had FINALLY gotten all my hints about getting to Georgia soooooo late tomorrow night!:rolleyes1
Happy to hear you are able to hit the road earlier than planned:thumbsup2. Have a safe ride:flower3: Oh! and as you have said to me many of times: You go right ahead and rant that is what we are here for...:grouphug:

I guess Intercot sounds like it might be for people who follow every single rule and apparently, those who don't need to pee and whose children never told them that they need to, especially when they get excited. That is bizarre.
Good thing I found the Dis!

It's ok. I didn't get any on my shirt. I shall now forage for lunch. I work late tonite. What dessert will I get today. Ms. Smith (the pie people and Ms. Smith (Sheri) made me a peach pie last nite.
I've been feeling a little yucky the last few days. I have had a migraine and have taken so many headache pills that my stomach is a little funky. So I ate a baked potato for lunch. Pie sounds good though.

I really don't understand how they thought I was being inappropriate. I was just tellin' it like it was and it wasn't bad enough that I thought I should leave out the details.

That stinks. I don't like it when something interferes with food. We have a local sub shop up the street and they have wonderful chicken salad. They put cashews on it. So I had that. I did not find a dessert but the good news is that our last 2 patients of the day cancelled so now our last one is at 530 instead of 630. So I guess I can have pie and ice cream again. Gee, I hate to have the same dessert 2 days in a row. :rotfl:

I read your report on intercot. This one is better. I saw nothing inappropriate. I did notice that of all the postings yours had the most responses and lookers. Way to go. Shows dis is way better.
I have figured out Vegas is out of the birthday plan. Grandson Andrew had mentioned it to me last Sunday night at dinner. Only because that is where we took Don last year for his 60th. But I know we have no one to watch the dogs and the girl that works with me asked what I wanted tomorrow for my birthday lunch. So now I do not have a clue. Sheri has scheduled something for Saturday with her and my sis in law and me. I'm totally lost.

Migranes run in the family and I've had them for years. I've pretty much learned to deal with them. And the Bell's Palsy doesn't help.
We had chicken salad sandwiches for our dinner last night 'cause I didn't want to cook. I threw in some jalapeno peppers and it made it pretty darn yummy.
What I wouldn't give to be able to eat my weight in ice cream. But, I'm allergic to milk. Makes my nose bleed.:scared1:

I meant to tell you in my earlier post that I was glad the last two patients canceled. Makes for an easier afternoon at work for you. That's a plus.
I knew that Intercot was a bit stricter so I cut out a lot of my chatter in my trip report over there. Most people are nice but they don't seem to...maybe care is a good word. I like my Disboard report much better anyway. (I wish there was a sticking my tongue out smiley somewhere. Oh wait, that's probably inappropriate.)
Slowly but surely, you're going to figure out what's going to happen on your birthday.

Hey Jen,

I am so sorry that you aren't feeling well. I know sweet tea usually settles my stomach but I can't think of anything to eat fast food that might help you out. BLESS YOUR HEART!

You know what's really weird that I can eat and it not make me puke? Lemon juice. I know it's not a real food and it's all acidy so you'd think it would be really bad for the stomach. But, John's neurologist said that lemons are a natural antihistimine (that's spelled wrong isn't it). She said that lemons help open the blood vessels in your brain and increase blood flow thus decreasing headaches. Who knew?!?! I also like dill pickles when I feel all yucky. Don't know why they help but they do.
I think the combination of worrying about our client's son possibly going back to his druggie/alcoholic mother if the Judge didn't rule in our favor and the oppressive Louisiana heat have just about done me in. Tomorrow will be better! I proclaim it!

I'm waiting on the stupid computer guy to leave the office. We've been calling him for weeks to come fix our extra printer and he shows up at 4:15 p.m. Now, he's just in there chattering away with the boss. I was able to leave the office about 5:20 so that's wasn't too bad. I stopped at Taco Bell and got John and I something to eat. I got a Pina Colada Fruitisa which was super delish. Subway is right next door to Taco Bell and got Hunter a pizza. Pizza from Subway? Yep, our's has pizza. I swear that kid could live on pizza and Little Debbie Fudge Rounds.
I know that I said I was all barfy feeling before I left work but I knew that if I didn't eat something, I couldn't take any more migraine medicine. Taco Bell was closest to the house, so that's what we got. I'm feeling a little better now that I have something in the ole' tummy.
Right now, I'm doing the important stuff.....nope, not packing. I'm getting my ebay stuff ready to ship. Hey, a girl's gotta earn that Disney money.

Thanks! I got almost everything packed last night. This morning, I put all my makeup and a few last things in a small bag. John just has to throw in the last minute stuff like deodorant, toothpaste, etc. since he and Hunter still have to get up and ready before I get home.
Before I left work yesterday, the boss told me he was sleeping in this morning and would be late to work. (If I were him, I'd stay home completely since we close at lunch on Fridays anyway.) One of the perks of being self employed.;) Anyway, he said for me to be out of here between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Of course, I'll be locking that door at 9:30 if at all possible.
My Mama is retired and likes to sleep a little late every morning. Hey, I don't blame her, when I retire that's what I plan on doing. Anyway, when I left this morning at 7:50 a.m., she was already up and about. I know because she had her window blinds open. (she keeps them closed at night and opens them when she gets up). Oh, I guess I should have said, my Mama lives right beside us. We live on 2 acres and she lives on an acre beside us. We even share the same driveway. So, I know my Mama is ready to get on the road and go see her grandbaby.:lovestruc

Glad you arrived home safe and sound. I know you couldn't help but to have had a wonderful time with Lacey. I know it was hard to leave her to come home. We are glad you are back and anxious to hear how the trip went.

When I left the house this morning, everybody was still asleep. Lucky dogs! I've asked Lacey to please visit all of her friends while I am at work and stay at home for the majority of the evenings. Hunter wasn't too keen on the idea but he'll deal with it.
One of the guys from the mission group will be coming to stay with us next week sometime. He's only been to Louisiana once and it was just a quick stop last year. He's looking forward to spending some time with us and meeting all of Lacey's friends and family. We'll probably have a cookout or somethiing while he's here.
Neither Hunter nor Lacey know about switching from Pop to the CBR. Lacey really couldn't care less where we stay so long as she's along for the ride. With all of their missionary and youth camp work, Lacey has spent the night on floors, in nasty bunk beds, on buses, etc. so she'll be fine and dandy no matter where we are. Bless her little punkin' heart.

We are super duper excited to have our girl home. I know her though. She is used to living with 15 other people (well, in three duplexes) and having people around 24/7. She gets a bit bored at home with just the four of us, five if you count Mamaw next door. She's already made plans to work and serve food at our local food bank/shelter. She's also supposed to speak to the youth group at church. Somebody from our church called her on the drive home to Louisiana and asked if she could possibly work our children's church one Sunday morning. I don't see how she does it. I'm bushed after just 8 hours at work.

Ain't it though. But, when I think back....at Lacey's age, I had been married for 3 1/2 years and had a 1 year old (her). So, I guess I did have a lot of energy back then.
It's funny you talked about being up late a couple of nights and it hitting you hard. John called at 12:30 (we always talk at lunch) and he had just gotten off the phone with my mother. She had only been up for about 30 minutes. She and Hunter roomed together in Georgia and Hunter stayed up until after midnight each night. Mamaw had to get all caught up on her beauty sleep.:rotfl:

It is so tough to be the grandma. Austin called me this morning and had to walk me through his fantasy baseball league so he could make changes before the deadline. His internet was down at home. As you will recall, when we last left off: 1) we had seen Minnie and Mickey in their safari duds; 2) I'd told off some obnoxious non-handicapped guy sitting in the handicapped section; 3) saw the fire throwing/sword twirling guy set his head on fire and, 4) Hunter had gotten chosen for the parade in the Festival of the Lion King. Whew! It was just now mid-afternoon and we had already done quite a bit of stuff. Up next on our list was Dinoland USA.
On the walk over, I saw the entrance to another character spot and the castmember standing at the entrance said that there was no wait at all. Well, heck, you can't beat that so down the trail we went to find these guys just waitin' on us to come give them a hug.

The coloring/quality of those pictures is pretty crummy. It was covered and for some reason all of the pictures turned out with a redish tint.:confused3
It was getting cloudy again and we knew that Primeval Whirl would close down if it started thundering/lightning/raining. Knowing that, we headed straight to Primeval Whirl. Here are a few pictures I took:

Details on the ride vehicle in front of us:

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0962-1.jpg
After the first go round (literally) on Primeval Whirl, John and Hunter wanted to ride again but I sat the second ride out. John and Hunter had to share a vehicle with two other guests but they didn't care.

That is so very true. It's funny now that I am doing my report the rain doesn't seem so bad. We sure did a lot of things between the drops er downpours. Maybe that is why I had such a good time. It allowed me to enjoy each moment instead of feeling so rushed.

My mother is so out of the loop when it comes to modern day technology. She doesn't own a computer. I had to buy her a cell phone because she didn't have one. She has no idea what I'm talking about when I mention text messaging. I have to constantly tell her it's okay to call Lacey on her cell phone (that's all the mission kids have) because she's on our calling plan and it doesn't cost anything. She does what we call "speed talking phone calls" to Lacey because she thinks it using up her minutes.:rotfl:
I guess we are used to rain at Disney since we usually go in May/June. We were very pleasantly surprised by the August weather.

I guess we caught the characters at just the right time. Even when we left the greeting spot, there were only about two or three other families behind us.
Primeval Whirl is a cool ride. The only thing I don't like is the heights. I can handle the spinning and dipping. You can tell from one of my pictures that the spins are pretty serious.

If I couldn't talk to Lacey at least two or three times a week, I'd really go nuts. When she's off on a mission trip or doing a youth camp and she can't charge her phone every day, I get extremely antsy. You are, indeed, lucky to have Amanda at home still.

Now that I've responded to everybody.....Good morning ya'll! I've gotta get movin' on this trip report because we start our next drive to Disney in just 14 days!
This weekend, we're having a garage sale so that Lacey can get some spending money for Disney. We don't have a ton of stuff to sell but it's enough to maybe make a couple of hundred dollars.
Hunter already has over $300.00 to take to Disney. He earned his by John and I saving our spare change and Hunter getting good grades.
So, let me get the boss all settled down this morning and I'll come back with another Animal Kingdom day installment.

After Hunter and John had ridden Primeval Whirl for the second time, they wanted to go again. Fine, I said, I'll just go see what kind of goodies I can find at a nearby store. While they whirled around, I ducked into the little store right outside DinoRama. I can't remember the name.....hum :rolleyes1.....nope, don't remember. Anyway, I looked around and found that they had some really cute, semi-cheap things especially over in the far corner (I've always found clearance to be tucked away in a corner.) I found a few cute little stocking stuffers and was paying for them just as John and Hunter were walking in. They looked around for a minute and announced they were ready for some ice cream.
Off we went to find a vendor. It wasn't long before we found a castmember selling these:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0971-1.jpg
I got one of the orange juice bars, John got a Mickey head bar and Hunter got the ice cream sandwich. When John started to take out his wallet, the sweet castmember said they were on the house for our anniversary and birthday. Another freebie!
Before I post these next two pictures, let me tell you a little story. Our first trip to Disney was when Lacey was 11. We were in the Magic Kingdom and kept seeing people walking around with the Mickey head ice cream bars. Lacey wanted one really badly so we found the first vendor selling ice cream. It was near the tea cups and our next destination was Mickey's Toontown (Hey that's my name!). We bought all of us some ice cream and moved down the trail a bit towards Toontown before we opened them up.
Lacey had just opened her's and wanted to have her picture taken in front of the Mickey's Towntown sign with her ice cream bar. I told her to stand there and take a bite of the ice cream. She took one bite and the whole thing fell off the stick and onto the hot pavement! Poor baby, she had waited all day for the ice cream and then dropped it all. Of course, we bought her another one but it's been a running joke in the family.
Now that I've given you this little McBride memory, I'll post the next two pictures. We took them to send to Lacey.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0974.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0975-1.jpg
For those of you fussing at us right now for being cruel to Lacey, let me just say that Lacey laughed her butt off when she saw the pictures of her daddy acting like his ice cream was falling off the stick.
Funny pictures having been taken, we watched the giant turtles in the enclosure behind us while we ate our ice cream. We also people watched. I love watching the different kinds of folks walking around Disney World. It's simply amazing to us. Yes, we are some strange people ourselves.
After our refreshing ice cream and relaxing sit-down, we walked on over to Dinosaur. The wait was really short because we walked right on in and waited just a bit before being shown into the preshow area.
When Hunter was really young, he didn't know if he would like Dinosaur or not but after watching a program on the Travel Channel about how Disney operates behind the scenes, he decided that the dinosaurs were just plastic and water hoses (I guess he saw the wires and thought they were waterhoses?:confused3). It's now a family favorite. Because we've ridden it many times before, we know where the camera is and we try to act scared for the picture.
Here's the pic which was just so-so:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0968-1.jpg
Hunter saw this dinosaur sculpture and wanted his picture made with it. He's such a ham:

Love the joke. Lacey is your child, of course she thought it was funny. We are the family of jokesters. Not mean, just funny ones. Gives you something to talk about at get-togethers. Or at restuarants, shopping, and open events everyone is laughing and strangers look at you and wish they were part of the fun too.
When we did our dinosaur pic I knew from reading the Dis where the camera was so I told everyone. That is how Tim knew exactly when to give Sandi the choke hold. Or maybe he did it the whole trip and got lucky on the pic.

For some reason, I am almost too organized this trip and I feel like I am missing out on the excitement. No, I take that back, we found out that two of the shirts that I bought John for Disney (he wore them while in Georgia), aren't going to work. He likes his shirts big and I bought two ringer tees for him. He doesn't like the ringer thingie on the arms so I'll have to find some other kind of tshirts.

I have worked for doctors since 1971. Don has been elegible for retirement for almost 5 years but the longer he works the bigger his pension gets, the smaller our insurance premiums get and by then we can have social security too if there is any. My pension is in IRA's and right now about 1/2 of what it was. It was our fun money. I planned on it lasting me 10 years. So now maybe only 5 or 6. I bet we can still have some fun. An Alaskan cruise sounds awesome! And I want to go to Disneyland. Macy's had a contest during Mother's Day to win a trip from Disneyland in CA to WDW in Florida, all expenses paid. I didn't win, unfortunately, but I had high hopes!!!
On Social Security, by the time I get to be eligible for it, I doubt there will be any at all, which is sad considering how long we've all paid into it. :guilty:

I wish there were more places here in Louisiana that even offered you a pension plan. The only places are large corporations. Certainly, nothing in the legal field. I'll probably still be rolling into some law office when I am 90 years old.:rotfl2:
My mother has always, always dreamed of going to Alaska. Her sister-in-law and some friends went on an Alaskan cruise and tried to talk my mama into going but she thought it was too much money. I told her she can't take it with her, she might as well spend it.

You'd be more than welcome to come along! Retirement sounds soooo good right now!
Girl, I told you to get your bags packed and be ready to hope on. The offer still stands!:lmao:

I state to my girls all the time "I am not taking it with me and I'm not leaving it for you. You have jobs and can figure out for yourselves what you need to do". Of course I'm leaving what I can to them but they don't have to know that. We are thankful for the union job Don has had all these years. Major benefit. I worked for the last set of docs 17 years till they retired and I've been here 7. I am glad I don't have to go another 10.
The neurosurgeons gave me a lot more in my pension than the psychiatrist does but I will take what he gives.

Lisa, I can't run as fast as you need me to move when you come flying by my house on your way to the world! And I don't want bugs in my teeth since with Lacey going, I'd be strapped to the top of the car. :rotfl:
I think I'm safer staying home and you can tell us all about it when you get back. I can't wait! :woohoo:

Awww. that brought a tear to my eye. I feel I have done ok with the girls and it is nice when other people notice it too. The rules to live by: 1. Never loan money you can't afford to give as a gift. 2. You want for your children to be self-sufficient, to know they were loved and are not afraid to give love. and 3. Never make such a fool of yourself in public that you couldl not go back and see those people again.
Outside of that it's all easy. I know that HE is on my side. I have known it my whole life and He will take care of my needs.
Ok, I've preached my sermon for the day. Hey Lisa, ask Lacey how I did. __________________

How the heck did I miss that? My Lacey bug is pretty good at getting her point across without sounding really sermony (I know that's not a word but I'm officially making it a word.). She said if you get too "preachy" you turn people off. I think you did a mighty fine job if I do say so myself.

Thanks. I try not to preach. Your children don't listen if you do.

After whirling around on Primeval Whirl, eating a nice free sweet treat, people watching and getting chased by dinosaurs, we thought we'd walk on over to Asia which would be where we wound down our Animal Kingdom day.
For those of you who love the new Nemo show at Animal Kingdom, please accept my apologies for the following comments. We saw it the year it opened and I just couldn't make myself enjoy it. I love Finding Nemo but didn't care for this show. Neither did Hunter or John. We couldn't figure out if we were supposed to look at the puppets or the people or both or just what we were supposed to do. So, this go-round, we skipped the show entirely. But, we did use the pathway to make our way over to Asia. I love this path just as much as I love the path from Tomorrowland to Toontown in the Magic Kingdom. Both are out of the way so many people don't take them.
We make it over to Asia and I check out the wait time for Expedition Everest. If I'm remembering correctly, it was about an hour. I told the guys that I'd get Fastpasses and both of them looked at me as if I had grown two heads. What? They had decided they didn't want to ride. If the dumb bunnies had told me that earlier, I would have gotten a Fastpass for myself and ridden it while they did something else. Oh well. I'll ride it next trip.
We did walk around in the store at Expedition Everest though just to see if they had anything interesting. Not really so out we went and headed over to the Maharajah Jungle Trek. Before I post the first three pictures, I want to say that maybe these weren't taken on this trail. Something in my mind is saying that maybe they were on another trail but I think they are on the Maharajah trail.

And, again, I think some of the pictures are out of order. Sorry!

You guys all know about us being big jokers. Well, John doesn't like bats. He's not deathly afraid of them like I am heights and snakes but he definitley doesn't like them. So, every year, we make him take his picture under the bat bypass sign. I took one but it's one of those that got lost. I do have pictures of the bats though.

Next up were the absolutely gorgeous tigers. It wasn't super scorching hot so the tigers were up and about. Before heading into the tiger exhibit, Hunter spotted a hidden Mickey. Gotta confess, we knew it was there because we had seen it the year before. But, we still found it even if it was almost covered by the foliage.

From here on out, I have no pictures of our Animal Kingdom day. Yep, the rest were lost. I hate it!
By the time we finished the Maharajah Jungle Trek, we had seen nearly everything that Animal Kingdom had to offer except for Kali River Rapids which we were saving for the end of the day because we knew we'd get soaked. Just about that time, it started to rain. For some reason, I got it in my head that I didn't want to ride the rapids. So, I put my poncho on and stood on the bridge to watch for John and Hunter when they came by in the raft. I stood and I stood. I had my camera ready. I got rained on and I got rained on. I watched for them and I watched for them. I checked my camera again to make sure it was ready. I stood, got rained on, watched for them and had my camera ready again.
And.....then.....
I felt a tap on my shoulder and there were John and Hunter. What? How did I miss them? They said they even yelled out to me and waved. What? Hum? Don't know how I missed them.:confused3
Neither of them got dripping soaking wet like we usually do. Their bottoms were wet and their shoulders were wet but both had on hats so their heads weren't real wet. I asked if they wanted their ponchos and both said no since it was just drizzling rain by then.
On our way out of the park, we skipped around a bit. I mean, literally, skipped down the paths. Acting all silly and carefree. We'd stop at a store or a vendor if something caught our eye. We had no ADRs or anything planned for the evening so we just took our time. When we got to The Oasis, we looked in every and I mean every animal enclosure. We saw the anteater, a deer with tusks (yes tusks), lots of birds and some kind of pig looking thing whose name escapes me.
We made it to the park exit, turned around to say goodbye until next year and walked to the bus stop.
Up next our lazy evening at the CBR.

Good, I now have more animal pictures to add to my collection. Except the bats. I hate bats. They are evil. I stepped on one barefoot when I was a kid. I still remember. ICK! There are many more things I would like to do at AK. Our time went too fast and we had too much rain. Gives me reason to return.

Yay!! Two updates today!!! Love the ice cream story!!:goodvibes The pictures are too funny!!:rotfl: You all have such a great sense of humor!!;)
Aww...we love the Nemo show. After a while for us, we didn't even notice the people controlling the puppets, we were just so caught up with the show. :)However I must admit, last year's show was much better, but we were much closer to the stage. So maybe that made a difference.:confused3
Love all the great animal pics!!:thumbsup2 Especially the Tiger and Bats--Wow!! I don't think I have ever seen bats that close before..
It sounds like you had a great day at AK!! Can't wait to hear about your relaxing night at CBR!!!

Glad you had a save trip to get LAcy.
I just caught up on the report. The family went to Hershey Park this past weekend to get the girls ready for the rides at Disney. They kept chickening out on going on some of the rides at Disney because of the big production Disney does before going on a ride. We got all of the girls on Super Dooper Looper and Lightening Racer. Now they will be ready for EE & RnR.
I also made my countdown calendar. It came out so cute.

It just hit me that I had to get all of my updates posted in just two weeks. When the heck did time slip up on me?
We are going to give the Nemo show another try this trip because Lacey hasn't seen it. I have vowed that I will go into it with an open mind. Who knows? We may just fall in love with it.

How fun that you got to go to Hershey Park. I hear it's a great place. If they can handle something called Super Dooper Looper then they should be able to ride Expedition Everest and Rock N Rolelr Coaster.

I forgot to tell ya'll that I got ANOTHER set of Mickey mail. This time it included Lacey. So, I've got one with: 1) John, Lisa and Hunter at Pop Century; 2) John, Lisa and Hunter at Caribbean Beach Resort; and, 3) John, Lisa, Lacey and Hunter at Caribbean Beach Resort. Each have luggage tags and the vouchers. I am not trying to cheat Disney out of anything but I'm wondering if I'll be able to use all of the vouchers.

I did not get any mickey mail back in May so good for you that you have three to "try"and use; look at this way they sent you mine;)
Ginny: great news on the retirement--it will go by soooo fast
and an Alaskan cruise that is also on our list. I really need to make an official list so we (I) can start the planning. I, too, want to do DL I plan to do that one when we do HI. Plan to fly to CA than to HI; cheaper to fly from LA to CA than to HI than from LA to HI:confused3
Mel: how exciting that you can retire at "44"; you can retire get a small part time job (if you want, of course) and enjoy your children (that's right I said children--banking on that TN trip:cutie:)
Sorry I was MIA for all the conversations but
ASHTON turned "3" today; big boy on the way--if only we could use the potty on our own--we would really be on our way:rotfl2:
(but, we are down to one diaper, and maybe two pullups a day:thumbsup2--:yay:

I don't like cold and really don't care about Alaska but I will play dutifull wife and go. :rolleyes2 But I would love to do Hawaii and the Panama Canal. Aust used to tell me he would take me when he got out of college and had a good job. We can fly cheap to LA with Allegiant Air. So that will be the hard part. Once there you can find flights to anywhere.

I hope Ashton had a happy day. And don't worry on the training. He will do it when he is ready. Seems like when they turn 3 they finally get that bell going off that says oh yeah, that is what I am supposed to do. I wish him well. And you too.

both the other two trained it seemed the day they turned 3. except w/the occassional night wet; I know he'll get it--if he would just learn the urge before we would have it made
mom & dad have been to HI, AL, and the Panama Canal--they have been lots and lots of places I will never go--dad had a great job and they had owned a flower shop at one time. So, for now I will be happy with travels in the US. I want to start seeing things in the midwest and the west coast (yellowstone, grand canyon, OR, WA and CA). My parents are travelers although I think they have slowed down quite a bit since dad retired at 55 (now 62) he lives off his "package" and took a big hit last Dec along w/everyone else.
